How does your media
product represent particular
social groups?
My media product is focused on teens and young
adults of both genders which my product must
therefore be aimed at a larger target audience and can
therefore not be specific to one gender.
The product will be aimed at the target audience who
are interested in the music genre of EDM which stand
for ‘Electronic Dance Music’, this is because this is a
unique genre of music which seems to becoming more
popular throughout the years.
The target audience will be interested in the upcoming
festivals and the night clubs which associate with this
genre of music.
I have used the colour scheme of black, grey and
white as this is a colour scheme which supports the
music genre as a lot of EDM artists play using this
colour scheme whether it’s the clothes they wear to
the lights used as they are on set.
These colours make my magazine open to both
genders as this is considered a colour scheme of
both genders which allows a larger target audience.
I have added an image of a DJ playing at a night club
on the contents page to show the reader an insight
of the night clubs.
The header/titles and layout with the colours used on
all pages show that the magazine has a clean relaxed
look which is used to attract the target audience.
The target audience will be interested in the front cover
with the artist shown in large as he is a well-known
EDM artist which will attract the target audience with
the main cover line in bold to stand out to the target
audience.
The images models are wearing on all pages are
currently in fashion clothes for the young people who
like EDM as this are what the social group can relate to.
On the double page spread one of the two pages
consists of a large image of the features artist which
can be cut out to use as a poster as this is what the age
of my target audience does.
This will therefore make the magazine more appealing
to the target audience which will entice them to
purchase this magazine.
I believe that I can compare my music magazine to
professional music magazines such as ‘MixMag’ which
will increase the chance of this becoming successful in
the current industry.
