PTSD In The Road
The novel, The Road, tell the story of a man and a kid trying to live a post apocalyptic world. They struggle with food, shelter, and safety. These
tough conditions have led the man to develop PTSD. PTSD, also know as Post traumatic stress disorder, is linked to "repeated, intrusive
hallucinations, dreams, thoughts or behaviors stemming from the event." It's apparent that the man has PTSD because his actions are very irregular.
Throughout the book, the man wakes up from fragmented dreams. "What is it, Papa? Nothing. We're okay. Go to sleep. We're going to be okay,
aren't we Papa? Yes. We are. And nothing bad is going to happen to us." (83) The man wakes up from his dreams and can be seen that he suffers from
it. He's not able to sleep well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cruel environment with cannibals, no food/water, no shelter and harsh weather can affect the man to have PTSD. Main cause of PTSD is due to
violence. During the journey, the man and the boy came across a cannibal and threatened to kill the boy. The man had no choice to kill the
cannibal in order to save the boy. "The man fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead."(66) This severe violence
caused the man to have PTSD. Usually murdering/ killing a person can increase the rate to get PTSD. Which is the main cause of PTSD. The man
tells the boy to watch out what he sees and be careful what he learns. PTSD also have an effect on children. The boy is very young and uneducated
which most likely causes the boy to get PTSD. " You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget."(12) The man is
afraid that the boy would soak all the horrible thing that he experienced. He's worried that these events would corrupt the boy and cause/increase
PTSD. The man wants to protect the boy and doesn't want the boy to go through stress and have a bad effect in his life. The symptoms of PTSD are
thoughts and violence. And these symptoms can be seen through the man's behaviors. The thoughts can corrupt the behaviors of the man which
worsens PTSD. And due to the corrupt behavior it will cause more traumatic

Importance Of Language In The Duchess Of Malfi
The passage to be studied is from Act 3, scene1, from the play, 'The Duchess of Malfi'. The importance of this passage, and where it fits into the play,
is explained in the first paragraph. The following paragraph will highlight some of the distinctive features of its language, starting with the beginning of
the passage and comparing it to the end of the passage. The analysis of the text will cover rhythm, sounds, punctuation, repetition, alliteration,
enjambment and caesura. Using these techniques Webster helps the reader to extract meaning, characterisation and the themes of the play. Finally, the
third paragraph will show how the distinctive features of the language can be translated into performance using lighting, tone of voice, props, costume,
sound and space. The language used in the text of the play is the source to its meaning and performance.
This scene is important as it comes midway into the play, marking a turning point, that drives the action towards the tragic end. The scene opens with
all three characters relaxed and in a playful mood, but there is an underlying tension that builds throughout the scene with an uneasy sense of insecurity,
which is felt by the Duchess as she is aware that her brother has returned to court. The tension continues to increase, with the use of dramatic irony,
where the audience is aware of information that the actors on stage do not have. The atmosphere soon shifts from a light hearted one to one of fear. The

Creative Writing: Mrs. Cartman
I decided against being sarcastic and to be nice instead. I put on my nicest smile, but thinking in the corner of my mind of the many insults I could dish
out.
"Well we just met so we can't exactly be best friends. Maybe one day though."
Cartman rolled his eyes and turned away, pulling out his phone in the process. I tuned out of reality and closed my eyes.
After a horrendous dinner of being ignored by Cartman, who insisted on not being called Eric, and listening to some stories of Hunter and Mrs.
Cartman that I did not want to hear, we finally came back home. The moment that we crossed the threshold, I stopped and waited for Hunter. He pulled
Mrs. Cartman into the kitchen and paid no attention of me waiting for him.

Quickly changing into my nightwear that consisted of some comfy bottoms and a very large black shirt, I look into the mirror. The face that stares
back doesn't show any of the signs that I'm feeling right now. Worry, anxiety, fear; these are the three that are a constant in my life, and probably will
be if I continue this charade. However, reverting back is almost impossible now. I breathed deeply and felt the air fill my lungs before it was
released slowly. The expansion of my lungs was a constant thing but when I'm stressed or exercising is the only time that I am conscious of it. I
tried to focus on breathing, feeling the muscles expand and contract with every shaky breath. A knock on the door and I open it, revealing a
concern Hunter. I give him a small smile and pass by him. I feel my feet drag as I make my way back to Cartman's room. I pause and remake my
composure, pushing away any possible physical features on my face that could give me away. I open the door and feel the color leave my face. "Oh

He knew he had to leave, to run, if he wanted to stay being himself. He wondered what his next move would be. In his dull gray nightwear, that
matched the entire layout of the neat dorm room. He pondered at his next move. When fully focused it seemed as if time had stepped aside and left
him to his own doings, in his own world. In the deep, black canvas of his mind, colored dots shoot across each other like the protons and electrons of

The fuzz cleared and the image became distinguishable. A photograph, of the gray square room he sat inside. The photograph showed him, sitting

Evelyn's Illness: A Narrative Fiction
From the way his body held onto hers, grasped hers, Evelyn felt as if he was taking all of her. Every inch of her body was his, every soft, gentle
curve. Every supple inch of her silk like skin was his to roam over, to claim. The female's back arched forward with every touch to her swelling
mounds. She couldn't get enough of him. As she heard his familiar, deep tone a slow, cheeky smirk crossed over her lips as her hues almost
glistened with intent. "I'm yours?" She repeated softly, her lips open and waiting for his. Except, he didn't continue their kiss. Her gaze drifted down
as she saw him force his way into her, parting her to fit him within her. A satisfied groan escaped her as she felt his lips meet hers once more, her own
were already crushing ferociously against them within seconds. Another sharp pain rippled from her breast, causing a breathless gasp to escape her
mid–kiss. The rush of pleasure was far too much to deny. He knew exactly what he wanted and she revelled in the fact that he took it. Her breasts
began to bounce freely once they were unleashed, their tight peaks angled upward as she arched herself toward him. When she heard he was close,
there was no greater pleasure. The female was surprised as she felt a warm, strong grasp across her rear. Her climax kept... Show more content on

In my essay we are going to talk about why I think Lady Macbeth is more responsible for the murder of King Duncan. I think the reason she is guilty
is because she put her nightwear, she pushed her husband Macbeth to kill him, and because Duncan was more in charge than she was over all of the
people. Lady Macbeth puts on her nightwear to indicate that she had been sleeping. Whenever they would find the body, she would act all surprised
saying that she had been in bed at the time of the murder. She wanted to wash all the sins away before anyone else found them so that they would

How Does Larkin Present The Social Issue In 'The Whitsun...
Philip Larkins collection of poems, 'The Whitsun Weddings', published in 1964 has poems that highlight Marxist and capitalistic values and aspects in
which are shown through a pessimistic view of institutions which show evidence of capitalism and the social class system in 'The Large Cool Store',
capitalism within 'essential beauty' and economical and social class issues in 'Mr Bleaney'. All these poems contain factors in which highlight Marxist
values and highlight the power that large institutions have within the society they are set in. Capitalism and the social class system is evident in 'The
Large Cool Store', as it demonstrates how large institutions such as Marks and Spencer's and others hold power within society. The language used...

The structure of the poem creates and divide between ideals in the first stanza and the harsh reality in the second stanza as there's "frames as large as
rooms" symbolising how size of products matters to the consumer and promotes sales it, however the reader is then told the billboards and advertising
creating and image of harsh reality and the reader is then hit as the harsh reality of large corporations such as Marks and Spencer's " dominate outdoors"
and control us. The use of advertisements and propaganda in the 1950s had huge impact on the reader in manipulating and shaping their mind into
buying the product that the company want them to desire and to buy. This then allows the institution to control the consumer, which highlights the
capitalistic values and ideologies that large institutions such as Marks and Spencer's hold to gain large amounts of power within society. The use of the
rhyming scheme within the poem creates strong imagery upon how the large institutions show the harsh reality of life, as it states "the gutter" and then
on the next line "golden butter". The rhyme implies how life is not "golden" like butter and also the use of juxtaposition further enhances how a
light–hearted comment and be totally changed to generate the image of a harsh reality. J. Peak and M. Coyle commented

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air
Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year–end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical
psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals,
and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators
start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year–end holiday, 61 percent of
people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people's emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and
involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall–goers trying not to hear the carols,
Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.

Examples Of Voyeurism In Rear Window
VOYEURISM IN "REAR WINDOW"
In this essay, I shall try to illustrate whether analysing the movie Rear Window as a classical example of the Freudian concept of voyeurism, is
appropriate. Voyeurism is defined in The Penguin dictionary of psychology as:
"Voyeurism: characterized by a pattern of sexual behaviour in which one's preferred means ofsexual arousal is the clandestine observing of others
when they are disrobing, nude or actually engaged in sexual activity. Arousal is dependent upon the observed person(s) not being aware of their being
observed. (Arthur S. Reber, 1985, p.825)".

Close to the end of the movie, she enters his line of vision by going opposite to the Thorwald's apartment, and becomes the point of focus for his

Throughout the film, I have to remember that this is a professional voyeur. He is paid to look at people through a lens. So I have to say that looking

In a conversation he has with his editor from the magazine, he tells him that he has to get him out of there before he does something drastic. Then the

Inherent and treated are two terms that are used a lot in the flame resistant world. The term inherently flame resistant fabric is one that is used for
fabrics that do not required the addition of flame retardant chemicals after the yarns have been spun or the fabric has been woven or knitted. The yarns
of these fabric use only fibres that are naturally flame resistant. The common theme is no flame retardant chemicals are added to the yarn or fabric.
Unlike inherent fabrics, flame resistant treated fabrics(flame retardant fabrics) have the flame retardant chemicals added to the fabric after it has been
woven or knitted.
Most of the chemicals used for fire retardant finishing of cotton textile are synthetic compounds and they are available in the market. These chemicals
and their application procedures are hazardous, expensive and non–eco–friendly [4].
Cellulosic cotton textile catches flame readily that is quite difficult to extinguish. This poses a serious risk to the health and life of a living and
damages potential to textile products. Banana is one of most important and common fruits in Myanmar. The crop can be grown throughout the

Does God Forgive Me? Essay
My brother keeps a fist to his mouth at night to keep his cries from being heard while he is asleep. He still has the nightmares, though he will not
admit it. He tells me without using words. I am not like him. I am a child and yet not a child, violated and changed by what has passed; I wear the
pleated skirt and smile of docility, but I keep a fire stoked high and hot within. I see that which is behind us as through fractal glass, and while I can
obscure it from his view, I cannot deny its heavy presence in my own.

And perhaps I am. Perhaps I will wake in fuzzy footed pajamas with bells and flowers on my headboard, and there will be kisses and waffles and

Play will not be desperate but idle, and my imagination will fly beyond this cage of fear to a land with auburn–haired princesses and gnomes and fairy

God is sobering for me, though He may be liquor for others.
They pass and we go unnoticed: two huddles of blanket and sleep–smashed hair, the same as any two of the other huddles; two thin, choke–faced

Introduction
Katja Ruth and Constantine Moros sat facing each other in the empty conference room. Covering the table between them were the latest operational
and financial figures from the supply chain optimization pilot Hugo Boss had been running in its global bodywear and hosiery Division.1 Ruth, the
director of the division, agreed with Moros, the division's head of operations and procurement, that the pilot had been a success–better product
availability and lower inventory to sales ratios had been observed for the stock–keeping–units (SKUs) involved in it–but was not convinced that

These companies sought to differentiate their brands through craftsmanship, quality, and design, but success often depended on external factors. Sales
boosted by an expanding economy could erode quickly in an economic downturn, leaving distribution centers brimming with inventory. Consumer
confidence was the cornerstone of consumer spending and, concomitantly, of the performance of the apparel and footwear sectors. Europe's apparel
and footwear industry saw compound annual growth of 2.3% in 2006 and 1.7% in 2005.4 A trend observed in recent years for consumers to split their
spending between high–end luxury goods and value merchandise was attributed to the availability from chains such as Hennes & Mauritz of
increasingly trendy apparel and footwear tagged at affordable prices. The perpetually shifting demands and preferences of the public encumbered the
apparel sector with the need to maintain large–scale inventory systems, the financial burden of failed items, and the risk of stock–outs of popular items.
The speed of change together with the lag between production and retail availability made accurate inventory forecasting a persistent challenge.

Hugo Boss's two distinct brands, Hugo and Boss, were divided into five subsidiary lines–HUGO, Boss Black, Boss Green, Boss Orange, and Boss

Coco Chanel And Anna Shiaparelli
How significant were the artistic links of Elsa Schiaparelli and Coco Chanel for their work as fashion designers?
Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli were two of the most iconic fashion designers of the '20s and '30s. Through their devotion in wanting to reshape the
definition of what it meant to be a woman, matched with strong feminist qualities, both designers challenged the previous notions of femininity,
stemming from the restrictive Victorian era. While Schiaparelli andChanel are considered to be the most influential female designers of their time, it is
important to acknowledge that both women are relatively different in terms of their artistic qualities and what they have brought to the world of fashion.
Chanel is commonly linked to the idea of having created clothes that were specifically made for the comfort of a woman, always keeping in mind

Not only was the little black dress practical and easy to wear, without having to wear uncomfortable tight girdles underneath, it got to be something
that each woman required in her closet. The little black dress was intended to not just be looked upon as a basic decision of wear, additionally a slick
cocktail, evening dress that would never go out of style. Here, Chanel blends the practicality of the clothing, the simplicity of the outline and the class
of its chic appearance, clearly building up something that would turn into a go–to decision for a nightwear outfit. Besides the dress itself, its hues are
essentially critical as well, particularly since women in the '20s were known to only coordinate dark apparel when they were grieving someone's death.
Chanel's impact in fashion changed women's outlook wholly, making the colour not only fashionable but signifying it with the message of simple and

Perception People perceive the same situation in their own ways. We learn from the flow of information through our five senses: sight, sound, smell,

Youth employment in Germany is at a 20–year low. Germany's budget is balanced, government debt is decreasing, and long–term bond yields are the
lowest in Europe. Germany is the largest creditor country in Europe, and as chief paymaster it has the biggest clout in deciding the single currency's

St. Paul's Short Story: Fallen Angels
When she stands above the dome of St Paul's Cathedral it brings her comfort. Knowing that she can see everything around her made her feel in
control for just a few measly moments, allowing her to breathe. In her line of work, there is never enough time to stop, look around or think. No
time to reflect on her actions. It becomes constricting. Night was starting to fall as she finally climbed down the whitewashed walls of the
landmark. She never missed the feeling of rough stone rubbing against her hands as she grabbed onto cracks, holes, and ledges in order to reach
the ground, though she loved to climb. It acted as a somewhat cathartic release from her usual activities. As a child she would climb trees when her
parents scolded her then, as she grew older, she started scaling buildings. After climbing halfway she found a ledge with a mass of leaves
conveniently piled right below. A smirk found itself to her pale face as she leapt straight into the heap, revelling in the sensation of the air as she
plummeted back down to Earth. After a few seconds of making sure no one was around, she emerged from the colourful assortment of foliage and
found herself in a park opposite a bank. By now the sky... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

with my impersonal and Intrapersonal relationships. I've been trying out different skills with my roommate and trying to really understand what we
do in class by actually doing it. I have always found it hard to express myself if I thought I would hurt someone or that a confrontation may arise. But

Despite being so busy, the nursing style was still far more holistic than on my surgical placements and the involvement of the multi–disciplinary team

General Surgery – Ward 33 (RLI) I have just finished my ten week placement here, and I'm so glad it's over! It has been my least enjoyable placement
so far. The pace was so fast and the ward was very understaffed– which means of course that students get treated as dogsbodies for much of the time
rather than having the time and space to really learn. Added to this was the fact that we had an important exam to study for in the midst of all this.
It made for a very stressful time and I often wondered what am I doing this for. Ward 33 is a mixed gender 28 bedded ward which is always full.
As soon as someone is discharged there is another patient waiting to come in. It takes both elective and emergency cases mainly for vascular
surgery and bowel surgery. There was such a lot to learn, so much interesting stuff going on, but all in all the whole experience was just too stressful
by far. The staff were a mixed bunch with some very highly skilled and knowledgable nurses, but some which made us feel so stupid and worthless
and treated us really badly. It was as if they couldn't remember what it felt like to be a student nurse. Having

Susan Lenox
Metro–Goldwyn–Mayer's creation Susan Lenox: Her Fall and Rise (1931) is a complex visual demonstration of the modern architecture and design,
which gains particular importance in the historical context of the Great Depression in the 1930s. The filmmakers of the time, very aware of the
educational power of the cinema, undertook the task of portraying American life in such way that the dejecting circumstances of the crisis could have
been lightened by the believable positive images on the screen. Thus, "one of the most compelling ways to convey these social messages was visually
through sets, props, decor, and lighting–through the very design of the film." In 1930s, the film designers were enabled to experiment with the materials

Ultimately, the Art Deco style of the apartment's interior reflects Greta Garbo's image as an "Art Deco Diva" who is "adorned in chic fashion and
inhabits a modernist space", which is in fact the case for many Garbo's films. Once again, the round shape that appeared in the preceding sequence
becomes the symbol of modern design in the film, since it is used in an experimental way in the apartment's design. The first shot of the penthouse's
hall features a single dark circle in the middle of floor's ornament and it is 'mirrored' by the circle on the ceiling right above. These two circles
underline the heroine's non–standard attitude to the stylistic and architectural conventions. Moreover, the shape re–appears on the walls of Susan's
bedroom. The wall pattern consists of the series of semi–circle plates, creating the link with the characteristic geometrical patterns of Art Deco design
emphasizing Susan's "Art Deco Diva" status. Lucy Fischer's argument points to this tendency as well, as she comments: "the more a room is associated
with female body, the more avant–garde its environment becomes.", suggesting that the bedroom in the film is the epitome of the character's Art Deco
personality. The dГ©cor of Susan Lenox's home seems similar to the one in Arden's home in Single Standard (1929), where the geometrical shape
plays a significant role in the interior of a woman's home: "It is significant, that, in the sequence which opens the "second chapter" of Arden's lie, she
resides in a Deco home – one adorned with pedestals and statues, geometrically patterned doors, modernist vanities, boudoir lamps, and platform beds."
Moreover, the link between the two heroines in terms of the similarity of glamorous Art Deco interior implies a significantly more complex idea. The

Essay on Voyeurism: A Freudian Concept Analysed in a Movie
In this essay, I shall try to illustrate whether analysing the movie Rear Window as a classical example of the Freudian concept of voyeurism, is
appropriate. Voyeurism is defined in The Penguin dictionary of psychology as:
"Voyeurism: characterized by a pattern of sexual behaviour in which one'spreferred means of sexual arousal is the clandestine observing of others
when they are disrobing, nude or actually engaged in sexual activity. Arousal is dependent upon the observed person(s) not being aware of their being
observed. (Arthur S. Reber, 1985, p.825)".
Freud used the term "scopophilia" to describe the initial stages of the tendency to look. According to Freud, scopophilia can be active and passive. What

Most of Jeffries' spying takes place in the night, in the darkness. We, as spectators, are seating in the dark, watching too. This makes us uncomfortably
conscious of whatever is happening in the film. We are voyeurs, the same as Jeff, drawing up pleasure by watching into people's houses.
Jeff and Lisa are two characters with contrasting style of life. On one hand, Jeff lives "out of one suitcase", he does not want to get married and he
likes to wear combat trousers. Lisa, on the other hand, works in the fashion industry; she wants to get married and likes to wear $1100 dresses. Even
their "perversions" are different. Jeff gets sexually aroused by watching his neighbours while Lisa gets aroused when she dresses up for him to show
her latest buy.
In human history through time, the male would be out in the world, leaving his mark. But because of Jeff's injury, he has to rely on the female figures
of the movie. This is leaving him with the sense of temporary castration and without any sexual desires. He has to replace his stimulus with whatever
he can: in this instance, watching his neighbours leading their lives. His need for voyeurism has reached the point of perversion. In the beginning of
the film, after he takes a look around the neighbourhood, his leg itches him. He relieves it with a wooden spoon and his motion reminds me of
masturbation. His face lights with satisfaction, like he had just relieved himself.
The only activity that can bring him sexual

What Does Gertrude's Wardrobe Represent
For my visual representation of Queen Gertrude, I created a model of a wardrobe containing various articles of clothing from the Elizabethan era that
symbolize different aspects of Gertrude's Personality. The wardrobe itselfs contains a lock on the outside, as not much is actually known for certain
about Gertrude's true nature because she has very few lines, and much of what we know about her comes from the opinions of other characters. The
first item of clothing on the left side of the wardrobe is a corset. A corset not only molds awoman's torso to its desired shape, but also forces the
women to stand up straight, and can thus be seen as a symbol of the stern and down to earth side of Gertrude's personality. This is the aspect of her
personality that commands Polonius to speak of "more matter with less art" and that reprimands Hamlet for speaking ... Show more content on

This represents the "incestuous...adulterate" side of Gertrude that Hamlet spends so much time dwelling on (I.v.49). However, it is important to
note that Gertrude never confirms that her reason for marrying Claudius was sexual desire, and for this reason, the smock is proportionally smaller
than the rest of the clothing. Next is a farthingale, which is a hooped petticoat that was meant to add volume to the wearer's skirts. Just as a
farthingale was used to elevate skirts, Gertrude took certain actions in order to elevate her position in the royal court, such as her "o'erhasty
marriage" to Claudius (II.ii.60). She was well aware that there would be consequences to a quick marriage, but decided that the benefits outweighed
them, just as women wore hoop skirts to improve beauty even if it meant sacrificing comfort. I chose to include a drawing of a mirror in order to
reiterate the fact by solely looking at Gertrude's outer appearance, there is not much that the reader can learn about

Social class: Low socioeconomic class, they have low disposable money.
Lifestyles: Students or working poeple
Personality type: Low fashion oriented, they dont care about what others think of their way of dressing.
Spending attitude: Usually they dont have a lot of money to spend so they usually are careful about on what they spend it on.
MOSAIC
According to the UK's mosaic classification I would say Primark consumers belong to the groups:
Group H: New Homemakers
New Homemakers live in homes which are likely to have been built only in the last five years. These homes can take a variety of forms: small well
appointed flats in new brown field inner city locations suitable for young, single people, many of whom rent from private landlords; small starter
homes designed for people on average incomes; mixes of flats and houses in larger new developments where local councils have required developers
to include some affordable housing alongside more luxurious homes. Learning how to use financial products, surviving on a budget and managing
debts are concerns for many in this group. It is a market for which many suppliers can productively convert to direct debit as a means of payment and
for email as a means of billing.

Descriptive Essay About A Beach
It was late March during Spring Break in Fort Lauderdale, our famous tourist season which dubbed my city "Fort Liquor–dale" to the college crowd.
The beaches were bustling with cars from out–of–state and lively with snowbirds basking at the ocean's edge with oily, sunburned bodies in colorful
bathing suits, and wet, clinging trunks soaking up the last few rays before the sunset. Steven called from the escort agency late one afternoon and
informed me that a young, recently married college couple had requested a female escort to come to their oceanfront hotel room on Fort Lauderdale
beach. He told me the husband said my service will be for his wife as a honeymoon gift. The young husband also indicated he would like to watch his
wife introduced to some domination with a spanking if he had anyone who knew what to do. My first assumptions were that the couple was rich
and the two of them were used to expensive, kinky fun, or maybe they had agreed to be swingers and this was a way to break the ice. At ten o'clock
in the evening, I knocked on their hotel room's door. I carried a tote bag. A pretty girl with long, wavy blonde hair still wet from the shower, turquoise
eyes, and a shapely, Barbie Doll model–type figure in her early twenties answered the door. She ushered me to the coral flowered sofa and asked what
I'd like to drink, either vodka or merlot. She introduced herself as Brooke and said her husband's name was Rudy. Rudy stood up from his chair to shake

Effectiveness Of The Legal System Of Protecting Consumer...
'Assess the effectiveness of the legal system in protecting consumer rights'
I INTRODUCTION
In regards to assessing the effectiveness of the Australian legal system in protecting consumer rights there are a number of areas, which must be
critically examined.
A clear understanding of the definition of consumer rights is a critical component to this analysis, as this will determine which areas of the legal
system are in scope, relevant and need to be included in this assessment.
In order to comprehensively assess the effectiveness of the legal system in regard to protecting consumer rights, both positive aspects and areas, which
require improvement both need to be considered.
The essay will firstly explore what is clearly working within the system in support of protecting consumer rights. The ACL will be looked at in detail
with a focus on product safety as an example.
The second part of the essay will focus on the current gaps that exist in the legal system in which is impacting the consumer. The essay will then
conclude with a summary statement to wrap up all assertions made throughout the piece.
II HOW DOES THE LEGAL SYSTEM PROTECT CONSUMER RIGHTS?
A. What is a consumer right?
In order to complete a fair assessment of the legal system in protecting consumer rights, the definition of consumer rights must be clarified.

Summary Of The Handmaid's Tale: A Fictional Narrative
Once Perceval hurried the small crowd from the room, he asked Ulrich to step into the hallway with him, and Carina, fussing with the bedclothes,
overheard the whispered conversation. "Bring me the sheets when you're done," whispered Perceval. "Gawain handled them for me on my
wedding night, and I'll do the same for you and make sure they're hung out far on the other side of the castle." "Thank you, Perceval," replied
Ulrich. Carina sat on the bed and waited, but Gawain's voice chimed in. "I think I'll hang around for the excitement," said Gawain. Perceval exhaled in
frustration. "Ulrich, I'm not here to make fun of you," said Gawain in a low, sincere voice. "I only want to be one of the first to clap you on the back
and tell you 'job well done.' You have my word." "Fine," said Ulrich. "Your word's good." XXXX Ulrich sealed the door and strode over to the bed

"My bride," he said, lying still and kissing her lips gently. "Are you all right?" XXXX No, Carina thought. I am not all right. It felt as if she'd been
impaled on a sword; the pain was that sharp and immediate. But what had Joan suggested? That's right! Count to twenty and breathe. She was at
ten, and the pain had already started to fade. Carina wondered how other women coped, women whose husbands were not as patient and kind as
Ulrich. If he'd thrust away hard without a care for her, she might have been sick. She loved and trusted him now more than ever. "Carina?" Ulrich
had stopped moving entirely. She gazed up at him. "Go on." "All right. Nice and slow." Ulrich moved gently at first, taking deep breaths all the
while, mostly keeping his eyes squeezed shut as if deep in concentration. He often leaned down to kiss her, and broke off every once in a while to tell
her how amazing she felt, or simply groan: "Oh,

Introduction:. “All The World’S A Stage” – Shakespeare
Introduction: "All the world's a stage" – Shakespeare (Olsson, 2010) seemed wise enough to know how the world functioned, even in those days.
Nothing seems to have changed today, however. Despite all the technological advancements in the world, and various views on social skills and the
development of "soft skills" (Heckman & Kautz, 2012), there is a constant inflow of people and situations within which social norms require us to
present different versions of ourselves – what in this paper we shall call "masks" or "personas." This paper will provide examples from old plays and
stories in order to keep it more contemporary – even use pop culture as a reference, so as to create a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of
how social... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The "Presentation of self in Everyday Life" was written by Goffman (1978) is a socio–behavioural investigatory piece, in which he uses "dramaturgy,"
the theory that all social life is like a drama or play, wherein everyone plays a role (Martin, 2010). Goffman uses the imagery of the theatre in order
to portray the importance of human social interaction. In the presentation of self, individuals can form conceptions of identity which is a central
problem. This essay thus seeks to demonstrate how individuals put on various mask in different social environment and how these masks represent
conception we have formed of ourselves in such a way. Discussion: Firstly, in this section, the study will communicate various aspects of the way
social personas work, as compared to each individual self and how they can cause a blurring of the definitions, as one begins to affect the other.
Secondly, the consequences of these situations will be discuss, as well as to offer certain pop culture references and other examples of these
occurrences in a manner that allows the reader to understand the true depth of the situation, and assess it for themselves, in their own context. Lastly,
the next few sections will investigate why personas in society are necessary, and attempt to imagine a world without such social constructs, where
everyone can precisely be what they want to be, with no discouragement or expectations from society with regards to their choices in

These tough conditions have led the man to develop PTSD. PTSD, also know as Post traumatic stress disorder, is linked to "repeated, intrusive hallucinations, dreams, thoughts or behaviors stemming from the event." It's apparent that the man has PTSD because his actions are very irregular. Throughout the book, the man wakes up from fragmented dreams. "What is it, Papa? Nothing. We're okay. Go to sleep. We're going to be okay, aren't we Papa? Yes. We are. And nothing bad is going to happen to us." (83) The man wakes up from his dreams and can be seen that he suffers from it. Main cause of PTSD is due to violence. During the journey, the man and the boy came across a cannibal and threatened to kill the boy. The man had no choice to kill the cannibal in order to save the boy. "The man fell back instantly and lay with blood bubbling from the hole in his forehead."(66) This severe violence caused the man to have PTSD. Usually murdering/ killing a person can increase the rate to get PTSD. Which is the main cause of PTSD. The man tells the boy to watch out what he sees and be careful what he learns. PTSD also have an effect on children. The boy is very young and uneducated which most likely causes the boy to get PTSD. " You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget."(12) The man is afraid that the boy would soak all the horrible thing that he experienced. He's worried that these events would corrupt the boy and cause/increase PTSD. The man wants to protect the boy and doesn't want the boy to go through stress and have a bad effect in his life. The following paragraph will highlight some of the distinctive features of its language, starting with the beginning of the passage and comparing it to the end of the passage. This scene is important as it comes midway into the play, marking a turning point, that drives the action towards the tragic end. The scene opens with all three characters relaxed and in a playful mood, but there is an underlying tension that builds throughout the scene with an uneasy sense of insecurity, which is felt by the Duchess as she is aware that her brother has returned to court. The tension continues to increase, with the use of dramatic irony, where the audience is aware of information that the actors on stage do not have. • 3. Creative Writing: Mrs. Cartman I decided against being sarcastic and to be nice instead. I put on my nicest smile, but thinking in the corner of my mind of the many insults I could dish out. "Well we just met so we can't exactly be best friends. Maybe one day though." Cartman rolled his eyes and turned away, pulling out his phone in the process. He pulled Mrs. Cartman into the kitchen and paid no attention of me waiting for him. Cartman waited next to ... The face that stares back doesn't show any of the signs that I'm feeling right now. I breathed deeply and felt the air fill my lungs before it was released slowly. The expansion of my lungs was a constant thing but when I'm stressed or exercising is the only time that I am conscious of it. I tried to focus on breathing, feeling the muscles expand and contract with every shaky breath. A knock on the door and I open it, revealing a concern Hunter. I give him a small smile and pass by him. I feel my feet drag as I make my way back to Cartman's room. I pause and remake my composure, pushing away any possible physical features on my face that could give me away. I open the door and feel the color leave my face. "Oh Phenix, what is ... It wasn't the banging noise on the door that jarred his concentration off track, but rather the reason behind the blasted knocking. He truly doesn't belong in this clan. No one in the Clan of Knowledge is allowed to be wrong. Five seconds pass, and the fist bangs on the door three more times. Their minds altered , their brains, washed of the grime that allowed their logic to break apart. He knew he had to leave, to run, if he wanted to stay being himself. He wondered what his next move would be. In his dull gray nightwear, that matched the entire layout of the neat dorm room. He pondered at his next move. When fully focused it seemed as if time had stepped aside and left him to his own doings, in his own world. In the deep, black canvas of his mind, colored dots shoot across each other like the protons and electrons of atoms. The dots play around until they became one fuzzy image. In the dimness of his gray dorm room he squinted, The fuzz cleared and the image became distinguishable. A photograph, of the gray square room he sat inside. The photograph showed him, sitting at his computer desk table. His pale face illuminated by the blank white light of his computer screen. His gray shirt, gray pair of sweatpants, almost faded into the wall behind him. He was crouching heavily over his desk. Soon the photograph doubled. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year–end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year–end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people's emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall–goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Knowing that she can see everything around her made her feel in control for just a few measly moments, allowing her to breathe. In her line of work, there is never enough time to stop, look around or think. No time to reflect on her actions. It becomes constricting. Night was starting to fall as she finally climbed down the whitewashed walls of the landmark. She never missed the feeling of rough stone rubbing against her hands as she grabbed onto cracks, holes, and ledges in order to reach the ground, though she loved to climb. It acted as a somewhat cathartic release from her usual activities. As a child she would climb trees when her parents scolded her then, as she grew older, she started scaling buildings. After climbing halfway she found a ledge with a mass of leaves conveniently piled right below. A smirk found itself to her pale face as she leapt straight into the heap, revelling in the sensation of the air as she plummeted back down to Earth. After a few seconds of making sure no one was around, she emerged from the colourful assortment of foliage and found herself in a park opposite a bank. By now the sky... It has forced me to look deeply into my communication and listening skills. I've been trying out different skills with my roommate and trying to really understand what we do in class by actually doing it. I have always found it hard to express myself if I thought I would hurt someone or that a confrontation may arise. The pace was so fast and the ward was very understaffed– which means of course that students get treated as dogsbodies for much of the time rather than having the time and space to really learn. Added to this was the fact that we had an important exam to study for in the midst of all this. It made for a very stressful time and I often wondered what am I doing this for. Susan Lenox Metro–Goldwyn–Mayer's creation Susan Lenox: Her Fall and Rise (1931) is a complex visual demonstration of the modern architecture and design, which gains particular importance in the historical context of the Great Depression in the 1930s. The filmmakers of the time, very aware of the educational power of the cinema, undertook the task of portraying American life in such way that the dejecting circumstances of the crisis could have been lightened by the believable positive images on the screen. Thus, "one of the most compelling ways to convey these social messages was visually through sets, props, decor, and lighting–through the very design of the film." Ultimately, the Art Deco style of the apartment's interior reflects Greta Garbo's image as an "Art Deco Diva" who is "adorned in chic fashion and inhabits a modernist space", which is in fact the case for many Garbo's films. Once again, the round shape that appeared in the preceding sequence becomes the symbol of modern design in the film, since it is used in an experimental way in the apartment's design. The first shot of the penthouse's hall features a single dark circle in the middle of floor's ornament and it is 'mirrored' by the circle on the ceiling right above. These two circles underline the heroine's non–standard attitude to the stylistic and architectural conventions. Moreover, the shape re–appears on the walls of Susan's bedroom. The wall pattern consists of the series of semi–circle plates, creating the link with the characteristic geometrical patterns of Art Deco design emphasizing Susan's "Art Deco Diva" status. Lucy Fischer's argument points to this tendency as well, as she comments: "the more a room is associated with female body, the more avant–garde its environment becomes.", suggesting that the bedroom in the film is the epitome of the character's Art Deco personality. The dГ©cor of Susan Lenox's home seems similar to the one in Arden's home in Single Standard (1929), where the geometrical shape plays a significant role in the interior of a woman's home: "It is significant, that, in the sequence which opens the "second chapter" of Arden's lie, she resides in a Deco home – one adorned with pedestals and statues, geometrically patterned doors, modernist vanities, boudoir lamps, and platform beds." Moreover, the link between the two heroines in terms of the similarity of glamorous Art Deco interior implies a significantly more complex idea. The image of the new woman ... Essay on Voyeurism: A Freudian Concept Analysed in a Movie In this essay, I shall try to illustrate whether analysing the movie Rear Window as a classical example of the Freudian concept of voyeurism, is appropriate. Voyeurism is defined in The Penguin dictionary of psychology as: "Voyeurism: characterized by a pattern of sexual behaviour in which one'spreferred means of sexual arousal is the clandestine observing of others when they are disrobing, nude or actually engaged in sexual activity. Arousal is dependent upon the observed person(s) not being aware of their being observed. (Arthur S. Reber, 1985, p.825)". This makes us uncomfortably conscious of whatever is happening in the film. We are voyeurs, the same as Jeff, drawing up pleasure by watching into people's houses. Jeff and Lisa are two characters with contrasting style of life. On one hand, Jeff lives "out of one suitcase", he does not want to get married and he likes to wear combat trousers. Lisa, on the other hand, works in the fashion industry; she wants to get married and likes to wear $1100 dresses. Even their "perversions" are different. In human history through time, the male would be out in the world, leaving his mark. But because of Jeff's injury, he has to rely on the female figures of the movie. This is leaving him with the sense of temporary castration and without any sexual desires. He has to replace his stimulus with whatever he can: in this instance, watching his neighbours leading their lives. His need for voyeurism has reached the point of perversion. What Does Gertrude's Wardrobe Represent For my visual representation of Queen Gertrude, I created a model of a wardrobe containing various articles of clothing from the Elizabethan era that symbolize different aspects of Gertrude's Personality. The wardrobe itselfs contains a lock on the outside, as not much is actually known for certain about Gertrude's true nature because she has very few lines, and much of what we know about her comes from the opinions of other characters. The first item of clothing on the left side of the wardrobe is a corset. A corset not only molds awoman's torso to its desired shape, but also forces the women to stand up straight, and can thus be seen as a symbol of the stern and down to earth side of Gertrude's personality. Next is a farthingale, which is a hooped petticoat that was meant to add volume to the wearer's skirts. Just as a farthingale was used to elevate skirts, Gertrude took certain actions in order to elevate her position in the royal court, such as her "o'erhasty marriage" to Claudius (II.ii.60). She was well aware that there would be consequences to a quick marriage, but decided that the benefits outweighed them, just as women wore hoop skirts to improve beauty even if it meant sacrificing comfort. The beaches were bustling with cars from out–of–state and lively with snowbirds basking at the ocean's edge with oily, sunburned bodies in colorful bathing suits, and wet, clinging trunks soaking up the last few rays before the sunset. Steven called from the escort agency late one afternoon and informed me that a young, recently married college couple had requested a female escort to come to their oceanfront hotel room on Fort Lauderdale beach. He told me the husband said my service will be for his wife as a honeymoon gift. The young husband also indicated he would like to watch his wife introduced to some domination with a spanking if he had anyone who knew what to do. My first assumptions were that the couple was rich and the two of them were used to expensive, kinky fun, or maybe they had agreed to be swingers and this was a way to break the ice. At ten o'clock in the evening, I knocked on their hotel room's door. I carried a tote bag. Despite all the technological advancements in the world, and various views on social skills and the development of "soft skills" (Heckman & Kautz, 2012), there is a constant inflow of people and situations within which social norms require us to present different versions of ourselves – what in this paper we shall call "masks" or "personas."
