This document discusses psycholinguistics, which is the study of how humans acquire, comprehend, and produce language. It covers key areas of study like phonetics, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. The document also examines theories of language comprehension, production, and acquisition. Some theories discussed are behaviorism, which views language as a process of habit formation through trial and error. The innate/nativist theory proposes humans have an innate, universal grammar. The cognitive theory, developed by Jean Piaget, outlines stages of language development from birth to adulthood.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. PSYCHOLINGUISTICS
• Psycholinguistics or psychology of language is the
study of the psychological and neurobiological
factors which enable humans to the acquisition,
comprehension and production of language.

acquisition and use of language”

4. LANGUAGE COMPREHENSION
Language
comprehension is
a complex
process that
occurs easily and
effortlessly by
humans. It
develops along
with the brain and
is able to be
enhanced with
the use of gesture.

5. LANGUAGE PRODUCTION
• language production is the production of spoken or
written language. It describes all of the stages
between having a concept, and translating that
concept into linguistic form.

6. LANGUAGE ACQUISITION
• Language acquisition is the process by which
humans acquire the capacity to perceive,
produce and use words to understand and
communicate.
• Language acquisition usually refers to first-
language acquisition, which studies infants'
acquisition of their native language
7. BEHAVIOURIST THEORY
• B.F Skinner
(1904 – 1990)
• Language
Acquisition is a
process of habit
formation that
involves a period of
trial and error where
the child tries and
fails to use correct
language until it
succeeds.
8. INNATE/NATIVIST THEORY
• Infants acquire
grammar because it is
a universal property of
language, an inborn
development, and
has coined these
fundamental
grammatical ideas
that all humans have
as universal grammar

9. COGNITIVE THEORY
• Sensory-Motor Period- (birth to 2 years)
children's language is "egocentric" and
they talk either for themselves or for the
pleasure of associating anyone who
happens to be there with the activity of
the moment
• Pre-Operational Period- (2 years to 7)
Children's language becomes
"symbolic" allowing them to talk beyond
the "here and now" and to talk about
things such as the past, future and
feelings.
• Egocentrism- Language is considered
egocentric because they see things
purely from their own perspective.
• Operational Period- (7 to 11 years) and
(11 years to adulthood). Language at
this stage reveals the movement of their
thinking from immature to mature and
