1. Proposal
The genre I have decided to use for my magazine is electronic and house
music. I have chosen this genre because there is not a lot of existing music
magazines based on that specific area; this is a perk for my magazine as it
won’t have many other magazines to compete with. Also, that electronic and
house is becoming more popular in the industry.
My magazine’s hook will be ‘feel the music.’ I have chosen this as my hook
because it is catchy and will be easily recognisable towards my audience. It’s
also relatable to electronic and house music because that sort of music
employs electronic house music and electronic music technology in its
production and therefore these extreme words are in use to describe such
experience. I decided to use a slogan to make my magazine recognisable.
The layout and mood of my magazine will make audiences feel the electronic
and house vibe by using unique and outstanding visual impacts. By this, I will
be using vibrant colours for my colour scheme such as different shades of
blues, yellows, purples and oranges. Also the full-bleed used should stand out
and appeal to my audience. The mood of my magazine will be lively and
uplifting feel and this will entice my audience to buy the magazine.
My magazine will have various USPs such as:

All of these factors will help the promotion of the magazine making it more
known to a wider audience. These unique selling points will hopefully make
my magazine successful.

My magazine will be able to interact with its audience through several ways
such as through social media. Social networking sites including facebook,
twitter, tumblr, instagram and blogger will all have a page for my magazine
where readers are able to interact with the magazine through comments and

available on all types of electronic devices. The app will help readers catch up
on the latest music news and will also be able to interact with the magazine. A
chat room will also be available on the website which will allow readers to not
only interact with the magazine but also with other readers where they are
able to share their views.
My magazine will be targeted towards 15-25 year olds because electronic and
house music is most suited to that specific age range as it’s a genre which
attracts a younger audience. My age range is targeted towards a younger
generation meaning most may not have their own income yet which makes it
hard for them to purchase the magazine. Therefore, having the magazine’s
price lower will be more appropriate therefore I decided to sell the magazine
for £2.50.
It will be sold monthly because our magazine prefers quality over quantity.
The contents of the magazine will be more carefully assessed. The online and
app versions will help readers to keep up with music news daily.
The launch edition of my magazine will stand out from others because it will
include freebees such as magazines and free posters which will entice
readers to buy the magazine. Also the first 20 readers will win a free concert
ticket to a popular electronic / house artist’s concert.
My magazine will present certain social groups because the outfits my actors
will be wearing on the front cover, double page spread and contents page will
be relatable such as wearing jeans and a normal top.
