A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. Purpose of my music magazine
One purpose of my music magazine is to reach the target audience of the younger generation
along with expanding the demographic to the older generation. Within this age demographic,
the magazine can gain attraction from any gender, culture, ethnicity, and race. Additionally,
the purpose of my magazine is to promote already popular music artists further as well as
those upcoming.
Furthermore, purposes of my music magazine include of educating, enlightening, and
informing. My magazine will educate, enlight, and inform readers regarding the 'vibrant music
scene developing locally' which people must know about. Additionally, my magazine will
encourage readers to learn more about the artist as well as the process behind their
upcoming singles, albums, and tours.
3. Form of my magazine
My music magazine is going to take the form of both a physical print and an online magazine. The
physical issue is going to have a glossy front cover as this is more presentable. Together with this, a
glossy front cover is resistant to tearing meaning that my magazine will be of high quality.
Each issue of my printed magazine will contain 80-100 pages. Primarily, the younger generation will
be entertained by reading the issue on the way to school as well as in their free time. Along with
this, both the secondary and tertiary target audiences will be thoroughly entertained while going on
the train to work. Every physical issue of my magazine will be thin, and light compared to other
magazines which are typically heavy.
The location of the double page spread within my magazine is very important. It is going to be
located towards the back of the print. This is because the reader must view and pass the
advertisements in the magazine. Additionally, there is a sense of excitement due to this build up as
they finally approach the main reason as to why they purchased the magazine.
Readers will be enlightened through our social media pages, website, and physical print that there is
more exclusive content with the featured artist on the online magazine.
4. Genre
As my music magazine is artist based, a variety of genres are going to
be covered. These genres will include pop, rap, R&B, and many more
depending on the featured artists genre of music. There are many
different options as to who my featured artists can be, and they will all
be unique as each artists music focuses on a different genre. My
magazine will centre around the genres which are most popular along
with those which are less popular to allow readers to find love for new
artists, music, and genres.
5. Price
I have chosen to produce a monthly magazine. I have done this as it allows the primary audience
who have less money to be able to purchase the magazine. Instead of spending their crucial money
on the magazine weekly, they only spend a little once a month. Additionally, this price can be
reduced by using the discounts on offer.
The physical print of my magazine will be sold in newsagents, corner shops and shops like
Sainsbury’s, Tesco and WHSmith all over North London. Both the physical print and online version of
my magazine are sold for the same price, £4.50. One discount on offer is for students to get 20% off.
This is useful for the younger generation as they have a low income, allowing those from any social
class to be able to afford it.
To purchase the online magazine, readers can go onto our website, sign up with their email and
provide the card details which they would like to be charged each month. Of course, this monthly
subscription fee can easily be cancelled at any time through our website. Advantages to buying the
online magazine are that you receive it before it hits the shops and that it includes more exclusive
content which is unavailable on the printed magazine.
There are also other discounts available for other holiday seasons as well.
6. Content
My magazine will include an exclusive interview with the featured artist on the
front cover, a 60-second rapid-fire Q+A, reviews of their music, upcoming tour date
announcements along with a competition to win incredible tickets to see the artist
live. Furthermore, there will be information about them to allow those who do not
know the artist as much to learn more about them and their music. Moreover, my
magazine will contain QR codes and Spotify codes which takes you straight to the
featured artists latest singles and albums. Additionally, my magazine will contain
appropriate advertisements to contribute towards the costs of the magazine,
allowing sales to be produced.
7. Target Audience
Firstly, primarily, the target audience for my magazine would be the younger generation. Within this
age demographic, the magazine can gain attraction from any gender, culture, ethnicity, race and
social class. Each month when there is a new featured artist on my magazine, this will allow them to
discover their love for each artist and their music.
The secondary target audience for my music magazine will typically be the older generation along
with everyone that likes the featured artist on the print and the genre which their music is.
Moreover, the target audience would be attracted to my magazine if they see a popular music artist
on the front cover along with being informed about what content is within my magazine and on the
double page spread for example, an exclusive interview with them.
The tertiary target audience for my magazine is anyone who wishes to learn more about the
featured artist on the front cover along with exploring their music. Furthermore, it is anyone who
wants to read and look through the magazine because they were attracted to it whether they like
the artist or not.
8. Resources
Resources Why/what for?
Camera equipment: camera,
camera lenses and a tripod
• Camera will be used to take the photographs of the artist for the
front cover and double page spread. This allows to showcase to the
reader who the artist of the month is.
• The camera lenses allows myself to get a certain shot type along with
the perfect look which I am going for.
Photoshoot equipment:
backdrop, good lighting, props
and suitable costumes
• A backdrop will allow the magazine to have full focus on the artist,
making it seem neat and not too packed
• Good lighting will make my magazine seem interesting and
professional
• The props and suitable costumes will be used to make my model
come to life to become the featured artist
Editing software:
computer/laptop and a license
for adobe Photoshop
• The computer/laptop and a license for adobe Photoshop will allow
myself to edit the photographs and magazine.
9. Personnel
Personnel Why/what for?
Lighting operator I need a lighting operator to be able to set up the sets, who will also carry
out tests to make sure it is all working properly.
Photographer I need a photographer to take the photographs of the model/artist.
A model to act as the artist I need a model to act as the artist to take the photographs of for the front
cover and double page spread.
A hair and makeup team and a
costume designer
I need to hire someone to do the models hair and makeup along with
choosing their costumes for all of the photographs.
An editor I need an editor who can edit the photographs and magazine along with
design the layout for the front cover and double page spread.
An interviewer I need an interviewer to be able to get the contents of my magazine like an
exclusive interview with the artist.
10. Distribution methods
My print magazine will be distributed and sold in newsagents, corner
shops and shops all over North London. The target audience for my
magazine would typically go to a corner shop or newsagent after school
to get a drink and snack so by my magazine being distributed here, this
will make my magazine eye catching. Additionally, my target audience
will most likely go once a week with their parent/s or guardian to do
the weekly food shop in for example, Tesco and will see the magazine
there too.
11. Marketing methods
My main form of marketing for my music magazine will be through social media. Social
media will have a huge impact on my magazine due to the target audience using social
media platforms multiple times everyday. Our social media platforms which are run by a
team will post often, giving important information and announcements to the public.
Furthermore, advertisements for my magazine can be placed on these social media
platforms along with on music and music video applications.
Furthermore, both the secondary and tertiary target audiences will be reached by
marketing my magazine through social media. This is due to most adults being addicted to
social media platforms like Facebook, in which they check all the time and post updates to.
Moreover, another marketing technique is advertising my music magazine on billboards
and buses throughout North London to showcase the 'vibrant music scene developing
locally' which everyone will know about. They will know about the scene developing due to
my magazine being promoted in the surroundings so, they will pass them while driving
around. Obviously, this marketing strategy is extremely expensive so, it will be used in the
future when we have a larger income.
12. Title of magazine with font
Removen
Flowerburst
Tsela
Barchella
Drumal
13. Final font of masthead
I am going to be using the font
‘Flowerburst’ for my masthead. I
have used the ‘arc’ Photoshop
tool to give the masthead some
shape, making it seem bubbly.
However, as the artists on my
magazine change, the colour of
the masthead will also change.
18. Font styles
A variety of fonts will be used on my front cover. The font for the
masthead will be ‘Flowerburst’ and fonts like ‘Barchella Drumal’ and
‘Arial’ will be used for the artists name, the cover lines and date of its
issue.
The font I will be mainly be using for my double page spread is 'Arial'. I
think that this font is perfect for my double page spread as it is easy for
everyone to read and not too thick and bold. Other fonts will be used
throughout my double page spread for example for quotes said by the
artist.
19. Article ideas
We can send our interviewer to go and interview the featured artist, allowing HEY to get most
of the contents of that issue for the double page spread. Obviously, at the beginning, we will be
unable to feature very popular artists on our magazine, so until then we will interview smaller
artists and those who are upcoming. Additionally, the Q+A will originally consist of questions
which the magazine provides to the artist.
Readers will be informed how to send in questions, giving them the opportunity to be able to
participate and contribute to future issues too.
There could also be a review section in the magazine. Readers/fans can submit their reviews of
the featured artists new singles, albums, and concerts which they have attended through our
website and Twitter page. A few reviews will be selected at random to help others decide if
they would like to listen to their new music and attend their concert when they are local.
HEY magazine will also have a competition running in each issue. The winner will get tickets to
see the featured artist live on their upcoming tour. Readers are well informed on how to enter.
20. Mood board
The following mood board
gives a visual insight into
my magazine. This is due
to the mood board
including a variety of
artists which I could have
on an issue. There are
some music artists who
are very popular and are
still growing to this day.
21. Existing examples of magazines in competition
Billboard is a competitor due to our
target audiences primarily being
similar. Additionally, the music
artists which will be featured on an
issue of my magazine are extremely
similar. This will not stop my
magazine from being successful as
there are lots of options as to who
can feature each issue.
22. Existing examples of magazines in competition
This is because our target
audiences and demographic are
similar. However, my magazine
costs half compared to a Rolling
Stone issue so, this will decrease
the amount of competition.
23. Existing examples of magazines in competition
This is due to our target audiences
being extremely alike. As well as
this, the music artists which we
want to feature on HEY are also
very similar to those Elle have
previously featured. However, my
magazine would like to feature all
different music artists as there is a
wide variety as to who can be on
HEY.
