Simran proposes a project called Project Lola to create promotional materials for an upcoming female artist. She will produce a magazine cover and double page spread about the artist using InDesign. Rationale:
I havebuilt my skills andknowledge after three years, one being usingInDesign. I knowhow to place
images after being edited. I figured thisskill after usingit for a doublepage spread. I madesure the
image was in the rightplace and it matchedup with the text. I usedthe rectangle frame toolso then I
knew where the images were goingto be and placed the image into the box andmade sure it was the
accurate size. This will have an impact as I will be usingInDesignto produce my doublepage spread
andfront cover of my magazine.
Another skill I’velearnt is how to use Photoshop. Inmy lastproject, I used the brushtoolin the shape
of a leaf which linked in well with the theme. Again, for one of the backgroundsona guide, I used the
brushtool in the shapeof grass. Onething I didn’tknowwas I could change the brushsettings.
Following, I changed the colour, the size and the count. This will have animpact as I will be using
Photoshoptocreate the poster.
The reason I havechosen thisproject because I love photography andloveusinga camera. I like to
express myself usingimages and thengoing further andediting them. I gotinfluences from my uncle
who is a wedding photographerbutalwayshas a camera at family events. The best thingaboutthis is
he lets me uses his camera. The best bit of photography isthe editing side as I like to experiment.
Fromthe context, I haveresearched two photographerscalledAdrian Jonesand MarlonMingwho
work abroad. Someof thingsI liked abouttheir work was howthey usedthe space aroundthem.
MarlonMing doesmore children photographsheusedthe outside scenery nice and thisis whatI
would like to accomplishwith my work.
Project Concept:
My project is comingup with a whole new upcomingfemale artist andcreating all the merchandise
andsupport. I’mgoingto be producinga poster with the tourdates on it so her audience knowwhen
to come to her concerts. The posterwill have an image of the artist on it and thenat the bottomof
the page will have the dates.
Another productI will be creating a magazinecover anddouble page spread. This will be all aboutthe
who the artist is andwill takeplace on as the mainfeature of the cover. The spread will havean
article about the artist andher background ofmusic history. Furthermore, anextra product will be a
photography portfolio. Thiswill haveextra photographsofthe artist, showingthe audience what the
artist is really like. Lastly, any merchandise will be made suchas t-shirts, mugs, posters, hoodiesetc.
Next week I will be researching many different magazines, portfolios, posters andmerchandise. This
will then help me throughoutmy processas I can keep lookingback at my work for ideas and give me
a better idea on how to layoutthe whole production.

2. How will the project be evaluated andreviewed?
One way I’mgoingto evaluate andreview my work is by creating a productiondiary every week, soI
can register my progress. Also, I will analysehow I’veused my research to produce my work. Another
way will be evaluating my work by lookingat how long I havespent oneach sectionand if I could
improvenext time. The best way to see if yourwork was goodis to get peer feedback and talk about
strengthsandweaknesses, aesthetically. Finally, as the audience is the mostimportant, I need totalk
abouthow it appealed to themand why it did. This is help develop my practice as it will get me into
the mindsetto do review and evaluate my work in the future.
