Essay on Israel s Controversy
Israel is a high controversial state that all have differing opinions on. There are many things that make
Israel a hot topic. In order to discover why Israel is so controversial, this paper will delve into the
creation of Israel, and how it affects the area around it. Israel was created on November 29, 1947 by
the United Nations in Resolution 181. Resolution 181, also known as the Partition Resolution,
declared that the territory of Palestine would be divided into two separate states, one Jewish and one
Arab, when the British Palestine mandate expired in May 1948. However, the city of Jerusalem was
declared an independent city state, and would be protected by the United Nations ( Creation of Israel ).
There are two main reasons why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Jews lived had immigrated to Palestine after World War II and the Holocaust seeking protection.
Many moved there for religious reasons, but others moved their with the goal of creating a Zionist
state there. These immigrants added to the pressure that was being put on the international community
to form a Jewish state because they were buying up Palestine with the goal of moving Jews there. This
was a problem because no one could prevent them from doing it. Finally, many countries were in
support of a Jewish state in Palestine because of the Holocaust. All countries felt bad for the Jewish
population of the world after the Holocaust, and they saw a Jewish state as a way to seek forgiveness
from the Jews. There are many problems that stem from Israel being where it is. One problem is that
three major world religions stake claim to Palestine as their holy land. This is a problem because each
religion claims they own it, and that it was bestowed upon them in their holy text. The problem stems
from each religious text specifically outlying the land they deserve. In the Old Testament of the
Christian Bible, Genesis 15:18 states, on that day The Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying,
To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river
Euphrates ( Genesis 15:18 ). Since Muslims and Jews consider themselves to be People of the Book,
and both their founders descend

History of Great Britain from 1950-Today
History of Great Britain from 1950 Today
The first two years of the 1950 s were very eventful for Great Britain. After leading the British people
through a devastating war Winston Churchill was reelected Prime Minister (he would serve for
another five years) and the much loved King George VI would die in 1952. As the second son of
George V, Prince Albert (as George VI was known then) had not expected to be King. It was his older
brother Edward VIII who was in line to become the next king, but he abdicated in order to marry
Wallis Simpson a divorced American woman. When King George died on February 6th, 1952 his
daughter Elizabeth became Queen and still reigns today after fifty years. In 1951 the Government

Edward Heath of the Conservative party was elected to Prime Minister in 1970 following Harold
Wilson of the Labour party, who was in office from 1964 to 1970. High on the list of Heath s priorities
was making Britain a part of a larger European economy, and in 1973 he successfully persuaded the
European Economic Community (EEC) to accept Britain as a member, while at the same time he was
also trying to decrease the country s dependent relationship with the United States. In 1972 a coal
miners strike forced British industry, heavily dependent on coal rather than oil, into a temporary
decline as the government declared a state of emergency. Miner s wages had actually increased ahead
of inflation, but the miners as a group had a long and well known history of suffering at the hands of
government and mine owners, and public opinion in 1972 was in favor of the miners. The miners
eventually wrung major concessions out of the nationalized coal industry. Among the changes the

Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation
Discussion
In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two different carbonyl
compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound. Specifically, acetophenone and p
anisaldehyde will react to form trans p anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an
addition reaction that consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or
enolate, and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a hydrocarbon with
a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond carbons. An enolate is formed when
an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it
interacts with the remaining oxygen.
The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl compound is ...

This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or provide the electrophilic
carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there are two possible enolates and two possible
carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other
compound. In order to obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been
physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an extremely strong
base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base
been used, equilibrium between the enolate and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself
would have been established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side,
resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second carbonyl compound
would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as ideally only one electronegative carbon
would be present.

Romanticism s Sublime Style in Rip Van Winkle, Legend of...
Romanticism s Sublime Style in Rip Van Winkle, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Billy Budd
Sublime refers to an aesthetic value in which the primary factor is the presence or suggestion of
transcendent vastness or greatness, as of power, heroism, extent in space or time (Internet
Encyclopedia). This essay will explore different levels of Romanticism s sublime style in Washington
Irving s Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Herman Melville s Billy Budd. The essay
will particularly focus on how the writers incorporate the spiritual and the terror aspects of the sublime
into their work.
American romanticism requires the wilds of nature to be the setting for the sublime. It is in this setting
that the protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Longinus writes in his Peri Hypsous. For as if instinctively, our soul is uplifted by the true sublime; it
takes a proud flight, and is filled with joy and vaunting, as though it had itself produced what it has
heard (qtd in Weiskel 3).
Friedrich von Schiller, a German poet and philosopher from the 18th century, suggests there is more to
the sublime than a feeling of transcendence. ?The beautiful, says Schiller, is valuable only with
reference to the human being, but the sublime with reference to the pure daemon in man, the statutes
of pure spirit? (qtd. in Weiskel 3). Daemon is translated from the German language÷demon. Schiller is
suggesting that the sublime is more than physical beauty. For the sublime to be meaningful it needs to
include the goblins lurking about inside the human.
Like Schiller, Edmund Burke a British philosopher from the 18th century, also suggests the sublime is
more than a transcending feeling; it includes an intense feeling of terror. In his Section VII Of the
Sublime Burke writes:
Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain, and danger, that is to say, whatever is in any
sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a
source of the sublime, that is, it is productive of the strongest emotion which the mind is capable of
feeling. (qtd. in Boulton 39)
Schiller suggests mans evil nature should be included in the sublime, and Burke

My Birthday Is Important To Me
Sixteen
Birthdays have always been a thing of great importance to me. Whether it s me or any of my close
friends and or family, I always have thought that birthdays and the aspect of remembering someone
elses are the most important thing someone can do for a person. No matter the age whether 6, 10, or
85, doing it big and celebrating for someone is a particular way of showing someone how much they
mean to you whether it is shown by a simple card or with a big party. In addition to my birthday being
very important to me, I go out of my way to make sure that my friends and family feel equally special
when there time comes. Nevertheless, my birthdays in particular have always been amazing thanks to
the effort and love shown by everyone; but this one in particular, the celebration in which I turned
sixteen will always be one to remember.
The ORIGINAL plan was to to go to a restaurant to eat before going to see any movie that was was
out at that time with a bunch of friends. Mind you, me and my friends are not the most organized
bunch of people so even doing this simple of a task was going to take some work. The week before, I
had loosely let them know what was going to happen and had asked a few of them to look at movie
theaters which would be able to seat all of us at about 8pm as well as a restaurant which would be able
to accommodate all of us with good food, and of which would also be able to get us out of there quick
enough to watch the movie. Naturally, we came

Sympathy verses Judgment in Carol Ann Duffy s poem Salome
The poem Salome by Carol Ann Duffy is written from the perspective of Salome, a promiscuous
woman who is retelling her drunken night. Although it is unclear whom Salome is speaking to, she
tells her story using informal, colloquial language, as if conversing to a group of friends. Duffy uses
Biblical allusions, which suggest that the speaker can be considered a reflection of the Biblical
character Salome, who appears in the New Testament and is infamous for demanding the head of John
the Baptist. Although Duffy seems to be retelling the traditional story of Salome, she depicts Salome
as a modern figure. The following analysis will explore the Biblical allusions in Duffy s poem, which
help to determine what the poem is about, and moreover will explore how Duffy uses the dramatic
monologue to provoke the reader to have sympathy for Salome. I thus contend that Duffy takes the
reader into the mind of Salome, a character that has traditionally been portrayed as an evil, amoral
woman, in order for the reader to view her from a perspective of sympathy rather than judgment.
As stated, rather than depicting Salome as a completely wicked and cynical character, Duffy provides
indications that the reader is meant to sympathize with her. This is hinted at in the language that Duffy
uses and the different tones in each stanza, proposing that Salome s thoughts are changing

Side Effects Of Birth Control
According to some researchers, birth control pills should not be used by women who have a history of
breast cancer, endometrial cancer, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, liver tumors or disease, increased
clotting or stroke risk, or if pregnant. Smoking increases the risk of serious heart side effects when
using a combined estrogen and progestin birth control, including the ring or the patch. Combination
estrogen and progestin birth control should not be used in women over 35 years of age who smoke due
to an increased risk of rare but serious side effects, such as heart attack, blood clots, and stroke.
Women of any age should avoid combination hormonal birth control if they have a history of
uncontrolled high blood pressure, chest pain, diabetes,

Leadership Qualities Of Fice Manager Essay
Unfortunately, at my current place of work I have experienced numerous negative leadership traits.
The owner is fantastic but the office manager he has placed in power is less than agreeable. The office
manager lacks the appropriate leadership skills because he is a very negative individual. He
consistently speaks unkindly to employees, never follows through, is very lazy and is quite frankly
unknowledgeable. He does not know how to lead people but only how to shove them toward the
ground. He lacks basic communication skills, attacks before asking questions and never places his
employees needs before his own. He does not understand the underlying link between happiness and
productivity (p. 88). Thus, most employees at my office would speak negatively about their
experience in the office. However, I also have fatal leadership flaws. I get too emotional when
frustrated. I do not express this with tears or sadden but rather a bad attitude. It is a flaw that I am
continuously working on. I unfortunately wear my emotions on my sleeves. Thus, when I am unhappy
often times everyone knows it and this is not a good thing.
Fortunately, I have exhibited good leadership before at work. I am a problem solver and an
encourager. When we facing difficulties at with a particular project and employees start to feel down, I
reaffirm their great work ethic on a personal level. Our accounts were all getting disapproved,
Facebook was flagging everything for no apparent reason. Everyone was

difficult task Salinger achieved by giving Holden an extremely trite and typical teenage speech,

Fiesta 1980” and “Daddy” Essay
Fiesta 1980 and Daddy Both poems are about memories of the relationship with their father. However,
the experiences are very different. The children presented in Fiesta 1980 by Junot Diaz and Daddy by
Silvia Plath suffers an internal struggle because of their fathers. In Fiesta 1980 there is a chance to
improve the relationship where as in Daddy there is no hope because the father is dead. In Fiesta 1980
we can tell the story is told in the first person by and adolescent Latino boy. The story is mainly about

When the father takes Yunior on short trips in the van, so Yunior can practice not vomiting, Yunior
enjoys the time alone with his dad and feel loved. It is interesting how Junior only experiences
carsickness in the lime green van his father drives. He notes that he never had trouble with cars before
that van was like my curse . I can assume that since Junior first met his father s mistress during a trip
in the van, which leads me to believe that Yunior associates the vehicle with the crushing emotional
distress of learning of his father s infidelity. I feel the poem Daddy is a work of rage and
powerlessness of her hate towards her father s death and then how she tried to control this rage by
creating a new father in her husband. Her husband is seen in two metaphors, a Nazi and a vampire.
The vampire drank her blood , which shows his possessiveness over her. Which correlates once more
to how her husband is a model of her father: they both confined her. The metaphor of Nazis brings an
understanding of her personal pain and suppression. In my opinion of the two works the one that seem
to deal with the theme in a more constructive, realistic, or positive way is Fiesta 1980 . Parts of this
story are funny, but mostly there is a sense of real tension between the mother and her sons. However
later in the story even this relationship is a source of conflict as Yunior and Rafa must conceal their
father s indiscretions. I would argue that the brothers

It was average game day on Sunday in Denville, the team and I did our typical lap around the field and
stretched to prepare for the game. Three out of the fifteen of us had concussions, so we brought up two
of the younger girls in the flight below us. Already my nerves were bouncing all over the place. We re
playing Denville, we have barely enough players, and we have two weak younger players as

think the game that hadn t even started yet was over, we were going to lose. Before the referees call

but as I was running out he called me back over. I trotted over and nodded as if saying what s up. I
want you to play more of a midfield left defender, he explained, I want you to be right with the left
mid, and if the girl gets past you Cate will take care of her. I would rather you stay up then stay back.
Before I got a chance to say how absurd that is the referee called for kick off, so I just gave an

Character Analysis Of Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
Iago is a very complex and manipulative character. This is what makes him a great villian.
Throughout the play, he carefully weaves his web and ensnares all the characters in his trap.
The root of Iago s malice is Othello not choosing him as his liutenant. He then enlists Rodrigo
who wants the affection of Desdemona to help him. He conspires a plan to take down Othello.
His plan was to get Cassio fired from his job. Iago accomplishes this by using Cassio s
weakness, alcohol. Cassio gets drunk and starts a commotion in town, which Othello comes
and handles the situation by firing him. The next part of his plan is to then make sure that Othello
sees that Desdemona and Cassio are getting close. He tells Cassio that in order to get his job
back, he has to seek help from Desdemona. He does as he is told and he asks Desdemona for
help. He uses Cassio to be Desdemona s love interest in order to get to Othello, knowing that
Othello loves Desdemona. In the play, it is stated that Cassio is a lady s man and he can handle
the ladies. So in Othello s mind, it may not be so shocking that Cassio would do something like
that. As Othello and Iago are talking, Othello sees that Cassio and Desdemona are talking and
when he approaches them, Cassio swiftly leaves. Parts of his plan was to plant thoughts into
Othello s mind that Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair behind his back.
The suggestions work because in one of the acts, Othello collapses not being able to handle all the
stress in thinking about Desdemona with another man. Another example of this working is in Act
4, Scene 1, Othello gets so upset with Desdemona he slaps her and embarasses her in front of
a guest. Act 4 is Othello completely losing all his sense of reasoning and turns into an
unreconizable person. Iago convinces Othello that the best way to solve all his problems was to
get rid of it entirely. Iago tell Othello that killing Desdemona is the answer. Othello lost in self pity
and no reasoning left in his mind, agrees. Othello tells Iago, he will kill Desdemona and he
desposes Cassio. Iago s plan works and in the end, Othello and Desdemona die.
Iago s character is brilliant. Manipulation is a huge part of

The Uk Parliament Is Increasingly Dominated by the Executive
Parliament is increasingly dominated by the executive . Discuss [16]
The word parliament derives from a word loosely translated as to talk or to deliberate . The UK
Parliament consists officially of the two Houses of Parliament: the Lords and the Commons and the
monarch, which by convention, delegates his or her authority to a group of ministers known as the
executive. The role of parliament is mainly to legislate and to govern the United Kingdom through
elected representatives. However the executive has a special role over the legislatures and it has been
argued that the UK Parliament has become increasingly dominated by the executive.
The executive is made up of the Prime Minister (PM) acting in place on the monarch and a group of ...

If a member decides to vote against the party, sanctions can be imposed and in a serious situation
when a member rebels, the PM can dismiss or appoint the member to a different position. Therefore
the PM can ensure that the executive s priorities and views are expressed in the legislatures.
However the executive s control in this regard is not total. There have been headline grabbing notices
of member s rebelling against the government position and resigning their position. For example
Robin Cook, then leader of the Commons and labour MP resigned his post due to the government s
position on Iraq. More recently in March 2008, Brown s government saw rebellion and the opposition
saw resignations over the issue of the failure to implement a promised referendum on a new EU
reform treaty. As we can see the executive s dominance of the members of the legislature is not total
but rebellions are a rarity.
The power of the PM to appoint cabinet ministers allows him or her to shape policy and therefore
legislation. The Prime Minister appoints the speaker of the house and the Lord Chancellor among
others. In this way, the PM and appointees of the executive can have considerable sway over the
legislature. The Lord Chancellor serves as a leading figure in the House of Lords but also chairs and
attends executive meetings. Although the PM usually appoints ministers from his or her party and
those who whom he or she has a good accord with, this is not always the

A look no one else can steal, which is ironic for her appearance was stolen or inspired from someone
else. Arleen Sorkin is the inspiration for Harley Quinn. When Sorkin appears in an episode of Days of
Our Lives dressed as a jester, roller skating, and having some make up on she inspired Paul Dini to
bring Harley to life. In the article, The Strange, Hidden Story of Harley Quinn Vulture, writer
Abraham Riesman gives the best description of the appearance Harley Quinn holds. Nevertheless,
Timm was and is a perfectionist and labored to give this cameo character a distinctive look: a red and
black full body jumpsuit adorned with playing card diamonds, ruffled cuffs, and a dual pronged jester

appearance of Harley is the one every fan knows and loves up until 2009, when video game creators
introduced a remastered version of Harley for the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. In the video
game, Harley switches out her classic wear for something more along the lines of thigh high boots and
a corset that nearly made her boobs pop out. Although, she still maintained the makeup Harley Quinn
has. Many fans felt as though this was just a sexualization of Harley Quinn, and her appearance got
worse or severely sexualized with time. In 2010, Harley was once again reintroduced to comics, this
time with very little clothing covering her. Clearly the very little clothing was not working for the

Investment And Conflict Of Romantic Relationships
Investment and Conflict in Romantic Relationships Com 620 Mark Pace and Bo Zhang Investment
Model The theory of relationship investment is an effort to understand maintenance of ongoing
relationships. This model is an expansion of Kelly and Thirbaut s (1978) interdependence theory,
which specifies that satisfaction is a function of the reward value of a relationship, relative to
expectations, and that commitment stems from the superiority of a relationship, compared with viable
alternatives. Interdependence assumes that we evaluate the rewards and costs of our own and our
partner s various behaviors in a relationship, and that both partner s actions and preferences impact the
nature of the relationship. Rusbult (1980) expanded interdependence theory to include that
commitment was determined by satisfaction, quality of alternatives, and investments with
subcategories of intrinsic, and extrinsic. Intrinsic includes example ideas like emotion and time while
extrinsic includes ideas like mutual friends and shared activities. Rustbult s expansion included the
value of resources gained through involvement in a relationship and also resources devoted to
developing the association. This model views the ending of a relationship as a loss of resources.
Further research such as longitudinal studies on the topic of investment have only strengthened the
theory (Bui, Peplau, Hill 1996). The investment model predicts that commitment should increase as

Going back to the gray matter, the outer layer of gray matter is the frontal cortex. This is where we
make decisions and where we do much of our conscious and complicated thinking. Phineas Gage, a
renowned neuroscience patient in the 1800, was hit with a iron rod to the head, yet minutes after he
was still able to move and act normal (Fleischman 6). The only thing was that he could not make
decisions. When given a $1000 for the pebbles he collected, he angrily refused the deal( 19). He was
not able to make the decision of getting the money or not. Neuroscientists have learned so much of the
brain that has helped us understand our own brains and the people around us. From this scientist

A Summary Of Olympia By Edouard Manet
Known as one of the most controversial artists in his time, Edouard Manet had suffered rejection and
endured a great deal of adversity for his unconventional style and his choice of subjects in his
paintings, barely dressed women. When Manet s Olympia was revealed in 1865, it shocked critics for
its subject, a nude woman. The question I ask in this instance is, why was this painting in particular
seen so controversial and shocking?, What makes this painting so different to others that have come
before it?. There is a long tradition of female nude being represented in beautiful, erotic way, what
makes this a stand out?
What we can take from the painting at first glance is: The model in the painting itself is leaning
upright on a bed, naked, with only an Orchid in her hair, a ribbon tied around her neck, a bangle and

disfavoured this painting was simply its painting style, the public thought its painting application was

Homelessness in America Essay
Homelessness in America
Here in Tahoe, we are lucky enough to experience a great quality of life, and only a few have to face
the horrible life of poverty and homelessness. However, nationwide, even right outside the basin,
homelessness is a growing epidemic across the country. There are many ways one can become
homeless; for the most part poverty. There are also different concentrations of homeless in different
types of terrain, such as urban or suburban areas. Last, there is the ever growing homeless population,
and how much money it costs us for others to live in poverty. These are the questions we ask ourselves
about homelessness, and the only way we can help is to know the facts about this lingering subject.
The biggest reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Luckily, only 5 7% of the mentally ill have to be institutionalized(5), and most of them can find
community programs and housing to help their conditions. Other factors can be domestic violence.
Many women have to choose between abusive relationships or homelessness, and nearly 25% of
single homeless women said they became homeless because of an abusive relationship in their
previous place of residence.(1) Health care afford ability is a minor reason for homelessness, but a
reason none the less. More than half of people living in poverty or homelessness had no health care of
any kind.(1) The reason for homelessness is an easy question to answer, how many homeless there are
in the United States is a harder one. Although it is very hard to estimate the number of homeless
people in the US, we can get very close using massive amounts of studies and the census so we can at
least get a good idea so we can start helping them. 52% of requests for emergency shelter for families
were denied in the last year, a 22% increase from least year.(2) Homeless families in rural areas have
very little or nothing to fall back on if they are faced with homelessness. They are often forced to live
with friends or relatives to avoid homelessness. This is

Changes Within The Colonization Of Korea
Colonization is the action or process of a foreign culture settling among and establishing control over
a native culture of a particular geographical location. This is a simplistic and perhaps innocuous
description of the colonization process. In fact, all colonization has some aspect of physical coercion
as part of its methodology, practice, and progression. The exertion of physical force by one culture
upon another may be sufficient to establish initial or sporadic control by the colonizing entity.
However, the constant use of physical force as a measure of control is arduous and maybe impossible
to sustain long term. Therefore, a successful colonization must be achieved not just by the
implementation of physical coercion, but by fundamentally changing aspects of the native culture. In
other words, although brute force may be used at the inception or during the process of colonization,
for it to be successful, colonizers must effect changes within the native culture that will lead its
members to acquiesce, support and aid in their own colonization. A strong historical example of this
was Japan s colonization of Korea. Although aspects of Japan s colonization of Korea was militaristic
in nature, its eventual success was possible through psychological, educational and cultural means of
control.
Korea was formally colonized by Japan in 1910; however, the process of its takeover by Japan began
during the Russo Japanese War (1904 5). During the war, negotiations between

Preferred Shares (Stock)
Preferred Shares (Stock) The words such as stock and securities are currently used not only by
business related I have chosen to research preferred stock for this individual project.
At first, from an accounting stand point, capital stock (stock) is a part of shareholders equity as the
later is composed of capital stock and retained earnings and represents the amount by which a
company is financed through common and preferred shares.
The definition of stock varies across the dictionaries. However, most dictionaries agree that stock (also
referred to as shares or equity) is a share in the ownership of a company: a type of security that
signifies ownership in a corporation and represents a claim on part of the corporation s ... Show more

This amount is represented by the capital that was contributed to the corporation when the shares were
first issued. Par value of preferred stock is defined as the amount that a share of preferred stock is
worth on the trading market lt;http://www.businessdictionary.com/definition/par value of preferred
stock.html gt;). In other words, it is a stated legal amount for each share of preferred stock. In
accounting, compliant with state regulations, the par value of preferred stock must be recorded in its
own paid in capital account Preferred Stock. If the corporation receives more than the par amount, the
amount greater than par would be recorded in another account such as Paid in Capital in Excess of Par
Preferred Stock. ( lt;http://www.accountingcoach.com/online accounting course/17Xpg07.html gt;)
GIVE EXAMPLE FOR THE PRESENTATION
In order to make their preferred stock more attractive to potential investors, corporations offer a
variety of features in their preferred stock. These characteristics may vary every issue of the stock and
include the combination of two or more features. The special aspects of preferred shares are recorded
in a document called an indenture.
If a corporation is not attractive to potential investors, the preferred stock might need both the
cumulative and the fully participating features in order to sell. On the other hand, a successful blue

Identity In Chopin s The Awakening
Chopin s work has allowed her to become recognized more over time. As women keep gaining rights,
so are Chopin s works of literature acquiring literary attention. Chopin realized that people valued
morality, especially when it came to things such as adultery and the marital discord caused by such, so
she decided to use those two items to try and deliver a message concerning an overarching patriarchy
that set into motion internal strife for stereotypically frail individuals and women alike who had been
cornered by the strangling ideology. Chopin uses identity as a main focal point concerning her
philosophy over her search for self and desire to express herself when being subjugated. Edna serves
as a perfect example of Chopin showing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Edna also exemplifies the impossibility as it pertains to a woman achieving such a dastardly goal at
the time. Edna begins on her journey towards feminine selfhood early in the novel and while doing so
evokes sympathy and understanding. For Edna, It s far easier to see her either as an innocent victim
crushed by a merciless, absolute patriarchy, or as having the last laugh by ducking out of life s
impassable and unfair obstacles (Ramos, Unbearable realism: freedom, ethics and identity in The
Awakening. ). However, Chopin writes thoughtfully and uses Edna s journey for even more than what
Ramos states above and describes it as, an unrestricted, undefined and, ultimately, impossible state
ironically [depriving] her life of meaning (and finally of life itself) (Ramos, Unbearable realism:
freedom, ethics and identity in The Awakening. ). In this way she delivers the message concerning an
overarching patriarchy and its damages by describing Edna as innocent and crushed by a merciless
patriarchy, while also speaking out about the dangers of valuing self over the other individual s in one
s life. Chopin, using Edna from The Awakening,

The first few years of young children s lives are very critical to their overall development because new
learning is happening every day, either during time spent with a teacher or parent. When children are
four years old, they are with a teacher full time or part time. That teacher is a professional individual
who plays an active role in children s early childhood development and has a genuine desire to help
them learn, grow and succeed in their education. These are just a few roles that early childhood
educators play in the field of early childhood education, working with young children in their early
childhood years of life.

That answer got me thinking. All of her answers gave me advice about how to be a great kindergarten
teacher down the line.
Standard one, promoting child development and learning, means that a teacher of young children must
have an understanding of the characteristics and needs of young children as well as an understanding
the many influences on young children (relationships with their families, their health, their learning
styles, their opportunity to play) and use this understanding of children s development and learning to
create learning environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for all children.
Standard two, building family and community relationships means that a teacher must understand the
importance and complex characteristics of children s families and communities. Teachers can then
create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support families, and involve families in their children s
development and learning. Standard three is knowing how to observe, document, and assess in order
to support young children and families. Teachers must understand the goals, benefits, and uses of
assessment. They must also know how to use systematic observations, documentation, and other
assessment strategies in a responsible way, for the purpose of positively influencing children s
development. Standard four is knowing

Community /kəˈmyo͞ onədē/ (n.) An interacting population of like minded individuals, affecting the
identity of the given members and also their cohesiveness. My community reaches from a small part
of Chicago to different, more well known parts of the Windy City. This community has taught me
many principles of life despite how my part of the city is secluded and at times, refuses to assimilate.
As I ve watched this city grow old, I ve also seen how this community has built me piece by piece to
who I am today. As stated by Dorothy Height, without community service, we would not have a strong
quality of life. It s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It s the way in which we
ourselves grow and develop. This, in fact, is true. In the community I have grown to love, the people

Disadvantages Of Industrialization
The Industrialization brought many changes to the United States after the devastating Civil War ,
which brought a many losses of life. At the same time, the war helped the country develop even more
materialistic. The Industrialization began in the United States in 1865 after the Civil War it went
developing for the next five decades. The first transactional railroad was completed in 1869 by
workers from China that were paid poorly . There was many more inventions throughout the
Industrialization from 1869 1914 that helped the Nation developed. The Industrialization was a
process that helped the economy transform into something better and individual laborers are replaced
by mass production and craftsman by assembly lines, but even though it meant maybe more work to
many s. This affected many due to the poorly paid laborers who worked hard and did not get many
advantages from that. It helped in ways that the economy grew even more and better that helped
society but not those who were poor. The Industrialization did not much helped many of the workers,
who appeared most likely to be immigrants, many of them and their families lived in really bad
conditions and had horrible working conditions as well with poor pay for the amount of hours worked,
that sometimes those mass productions consisted of child labor.
Industrialization impacted the lives of many including children who worked instead of going to school
to help support their families. Children back in 1908 1912 worked to get money and help support
financially their families many of these children did not attend school whatsoever. As shown on
document E we observe images of children working in factories, and having jobs that an adult would
have, these children would work to help parents with household. This impact was negative because
many children worked to help parents instead of having a childhood they thought that they had to help
parents out instead of attending school. On document H child labor stopped for the good of the
children, the U.S. set laws in which minors had to follow to be able to maintain a job. Minors ober the
age of sixteen years and under 18 may not be employed except upon the presentation of a school

Therefore is my desire to create a manual that easy walk out the employee to learn his/her duties at

Gilgamesh Downfall
An epic poem is a narrative poem that normally speaks about heroic acts and events that are
significant within a specific cultured. Many ancient writers used these epic poem to tell stories of
adventures and of courageous accomplishments. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, we learn about Gilgamesh,
a man who is two part God, and one part man. Though he is known as one of the fiercest and most
ambitious warriors, his flaws were a major downfall. Through his characteristics and the historical
background of Gilgamesh, we learn it s historical context and the importance of the two main

The Sumerians looked to their Gods in every aspect of their life. They re gods are powerful and
impede with the lives of the humans. They have human emotions and problems. An example of this
would be when Ishtar, the God of War and Love, tries to tempt Gilgamesh into having sex with him
and he refused. As a result, she was offended and proceeded to seek revenge on him. Though the gods
are powerful, they are a lot like the humans and in order for everything to work, the humans and gods
have to work together. In some ways, the humans and gods are even similar. For example, they both
share the common characteristic of fear. This was shown when the flood began and even the gods
were terrified at the flood, they fled to the highest heaven...they crouched against walls, cowering like
curs (Gilgamesh 110). This particular flood that occurred within The Epic of Gilgamesh relates to the
flood of Noah and the Ark. This flood occurs because Noah s god, Yahweh, was enraged with the
wickedness of humanity, therefore, sent a flood to destroy it. Though he sent the flood out of anger, he
showed Noah and his family grace by not allowing them to experience the flood, thus, surviving. In
the poem, Noah is best seen through Utnapishtim, a god Gilgamesh seeks for immorality because of
his fear of death. A similarity example within the two floods would be that they both had a God

Modern Landscape Design Is The Arrangement Of Environments...
Modernism, in the context of landscape design, is a result of forms and functions that reflect the need
for outdoor living spaces that enhance contemporary lifestyles. As Garrett Eckbo, one of the central
figures in modern landscape architecture, said, landscape design is the arrangement of environments
for people.
Contemporary garden design tends to focus on scale as opposed to formal landscape designs that are
based on axial relationships. It also foregoes the more classic landscape design forms and larger scale
from Greek, Roman, and classical architecture traditions. This design motif became popular in the
1950 s baby boom, particularly in California where weather and lifestyle was very conducive to this
innovative style.
In modern landscape design, boundaries between areas of color, textures and shapes are undefined or
conversely, sharply defined. Color and composition create the emotional response. Combining
freshness and flair, these designs use dramatic geometric shapes to create a point of view that is fluid
and natural. Water and light are often used, as in artfully lit outdoor water fountains, to enhance the
sensual loveliness and liveliness. The designs are arresting, both close up and far away.
Form and Function in Modern Landscape Design
As the maxim says, form follows function. Modern landscape design is an aesthetic that shows only
what is necessary while often leaving surfaces exposed. The simplicity of modern design reveals itself
in that every form

  • 2. Essay on Israel s Controversy Israel is a high controversial state that all have differing opinions on. There are many things that make Israel a hot topic. In order to discover why Israel is so controversial, this paper will delve into the creation of Israel, and how it affects the area around it. Israel was created on November 29, 1947 by the United Nations in Resolution 181. Resolution 181, also known as the Partition Resolution, declared that the territory of Palestine would be divided into two separate states, one Jewish and one Arab, when the British Palestine mandate expired in May 1948. However, the city of Jerusalem was declared an independent city state, and would be protected by the United Nations ( Creation of Israel ). There are two main reasons why ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Jews lived had immigrated to Palestine after World War II and the Holocaust seeking protection. Many moved there for religious reasons, but others moved their with the goal of creating a Zionist state there. These immigrants added to the pressure that was being put on the international community to form a Jewish state because they were buying up Palestine with the goal of moving Jews there. This was a problem because no one could prevent them from doing it. Finally, many countries were in support of a Jewish state in Palestine because of the Holocaust. All countries felt bad for the Jewish population of the world after the Holocaust, and they saw a Jewish state as a way to seek forgiveness from the Jews. There are many problems that stem from Israel being where it is. One problem is that three major world religions stake claim to Palestine as their holy land. This is a problem because each religion claims they own it, and that it was bestowed upon them in their holy text. The problem stems from each religious text specifically outlying the land they deserve. In the Old Testament of the Christian Bible, Genesis 15:18 states, on that day The Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying, To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates ( Genesis 15:18 ). • 3. History of Great Britain from 1950-Today History of Great Britain from 1950 Today The first two years of the 1950 s were very eventful for Great Britain. After leading the British people through a devastating war Winston Churchill was reelected Prime Minister (he would serve for another five years) and the much loved King George VI would die in 1952. As the second son of George V, Prince Albert (as George VI was known then) had not expected to be King. It was his older brother Edward VIII who was in line to become the next king, but he abdicated in order to marry Wallis Simpson a divorced American woman. When King George died on February 6th, 1952 his daughter Elizabeth became Queen and still reigns today after fifty years. In 1951 the Government organized a Festival of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By 1964 when they left on their U.S. tour the Beatles had become a household name and over 4,000 screaming fans saw them off at the airport and just as many met them when they arrived in the States. They are attributed with starting the British Invasion of many popular British rock and pop performing artists to the U.S. Edward Heath of the Conservative party was elected to Prime Minister in 1970 following Harold Wilson of the Labour party, who was in office from 1964 to 1970. High on the list of Heath s priorities was making Britain a part of a larger European economy, and in 1973 he successfully persuaded the European Economic Community (EEC) to accept Britain as a member, while at the same time he was also trying to decrease the country s dependent relationship with the United States. In 1972 a coal miners strike forced British industry, heavily dependent on coal rather than oil, into a temporary decline as the government declared a state of emergency. Miner s wages had actually increased ahead of inflation, but the miners as a group had a long and well known history of suffering at the hands of government and mine owners, and public opinion in 1972 was in favor of the miners. The miners eventually wrung major concessions out of the nationalized coal industry. Among the changes the British people saw ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Aldol Condensation Lab Ishaan Sangwan Experiment 9: Aldol Condensation Discussion In this experiment, an aldol condensation reaction will be performed using two different carbonyl compounds to form a beta hydroxy carbonyl compound. Specifically, acetophenone and p anisaldehyde will react to form trans p anisalacetonphenone. An aldol condensation reaction is an addition reaction that consists of one of the carbonyl compounds being converted into an enol or enolate, and attacking the second carbonyl carbon to form a C C bond. An enol is a hydrocarbon with a double bond, with an alcohol group on one of the double bond carbons. An enolate is formed when an enol is deprotonated, creating a structure that is stabilized by resonance of the double bond as it interacts with the remaining oxygen. The alpha carbon, which is the carbon adjacent to the carbonyl carbon in a carbonyl compound is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This introduces complications, since either compound can form enolates, or provide the electrophilic carbon, giving a range of products. In this reaction, there are two possible enolates and two possible carbonyl carbons, as the enolates can react with protonated versions of themselves, or the other compound. In order to obtain the desired product, the different parts of the reaction should have been physically separated. First, the enolate should have been produced using LDA, an extremely strong base that shifts the reaction strongly to the product side, with a Keq of about 1019. Had a weaker base been used, equilibrium between the enolate and the product formed by the enolate reacting with itself would have been established with a Keq of about 10 4, which strongly favors the reactant side, resulting in less enolate yield. After enolate was produced using LDA, the second carbonyl compound would be added, allowing for correct product formation, as ideally only one electronegative carbon would be present. ... • 5. Romanticism s Sublime Style in Rip Van Winkle, Legend of... Romanticism s Sublime Style in Rip Van Winkle, Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Billy Budd Sublime refers to an aesthetic value in which the primary factor is the presence or suggestion of transcendent vastness or greatness, as of power, heroism, extent in space or time (Internet Encyclopedia). This essay will explore different levels of Romanticism s sublime style in Washington Irving s Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Herman Melville s Billy Budd. The essay will particularly focus on how the writers incorporate the spiritual and the terror aspects of the sublime into their work. American romanticism requires the wilds of nature to be the setting for the sublime. It is in this setting that the protagonist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Longinus writes in his Peri Hypsous. For as if instinctively, our soul is uplifted by the true sublime; it takes a proud flight, and is filled with joy and vaunting, as though it had itself produced what it has heard (qtd in Weiskel 3). Friedrich von Schiller, a German poet and philosopher from the 18th century, suggests there is more to the sublime than a feeling of transcendence. ?The beautiful, says Schiller, is valuable only with reference to the human being, but the sublime with reference to the pure daemon in man, the statutes of pure spirit? (qtd. in Weiskel 3). Daemon is translated from the German language÷demon. Schiller is suggesting that the sublime is more than physical beauty. For the sublime to be meaningful it needs to include the goblins lurking about inside the human. Like Schiller, Edmund Burke a British philosopher from the 18th century, also suggests the sublime is more than a transcending feeling; it includes an intense feeling of terror. In his Section VII Of the Sublime Burke writes: Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite the ideas of pain, and danger, that is to say, whatever is in any sort terrible, or is conversant about terrible objects, or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a source of the sublime, that is, it is productive of the strongest emotion which the mind is capable of feeling. • 6. My Birthday Is Important To Me Sixteen Birthdays have always been a thing of great importance to me. Whether it s me or any of my close friends and or family, I always have thought that birthdays and the aspect of remembering someone elses are the most important thing someone can do for a person. No matter the age whether 6, 10, or 85, doing it big and celebrating for someone is a particular way of showing someone how much they mean to you whether it is shown by a simple card or with a big party. In addition to my birthday being very important to me, I go out of my way to make sure that my friends and family feel equally special when there time comes. Nevertheless, my birthdays in particular have always been amazing thanks to the effort and love shown by everyone; but this one in particular, the celebration in which I turned sixteen will always be one to remember. The ORIGINAL plan was to to go to a restaurant to eat before going to see any movie that was was out at that time with a bunch of friends. Mind you, me and my friends are not the most organized bunch of people so even doing this simple of a task was going to take some work. The week before, I had loosely let them know what was going to happen and had asked a few of them to look at movie theaters which would be able to seat all of us at about 8pm as well as a restaurant which would be able to accommodate all of us with good food, and of which would also be able to get us out of there quick enough to watch the movie. • 7. Carol Ann Duffy Allusions Katelyn Nowocin Dr. Plamondon ENGL 3487 7 November 2017 Sympathy verses Judgment in Carol Ann Duffy s poem Salome The poem Salome by Carol Ann Duffy is written from the perspective of Salome, a promiscuous woman who is retelling her drunken night. Although it is unclear whom Salome is speaking to, she tells her story using informal, colloquial language, as if conversing to a group of friends. Duffy uses Biblical allusions, which suggest that the speaker can be considered a reflection of the Biblical character Salome, who appears in the New Testament and is infamous for demanding the head of John the Baptist. Although Duffy seems to be retelling the traditional story of Salome, she depicts Salome as a modern figure. The following analysis will explore the Biblical allusions in Duffy s poem, which help to determine what the poem is about, and moreover will explore how Duffy uses the dramatic monologue to provoke the reader to have sympathy for Salome. I thus contend that Duffy takes the reader into the mind of Salome, a character that has traditionally been portrayed as an evil, amoral woman, in order for the reader to view her from a perspective of sympathy rather than judgment. As stated, rather than depicting Salome as a completely wicked and cynical character, Duffy provides indications that the reader is meant to sympathize with her. This is hinted at in the language that Duffy uses and the different tones in each stanza, proposing that Salome s thoughts are changing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Leadership Qualities Of Fice Manager Essay Unfortunately, at my current place of work I have experienced numerous negative leadership traits. The owner is fantastic but the office manager he has placed in power is less than agreeable. The office manager lacks the appropriate leadership skills because he is a very negative individual. He consistently speaks unkindly to employees, never follows through, is very lazy and is quite frankly unknowledgeable. He does not know how to lead people but only how to shove them toward the ground. He lacks basic communication skills, attacks before asking questions and never places his employees needs before his own. He does not understand the underlying link between happiness and productivity (p. 88). Thus, most employees at my office would speak negatively about their experience in the office. However, I also have fatal leadership flaws. I get too emotional when frustrated. I do not express this with tears or sadden but rather a bad attitude. It is a flaw that I am continuously working on. I unfortunately wear my emotions on my sleeves. Thus, when I am unhappy often times everyone knows it and this is not a good thing. Fortunately, I have exhibited good leadership before at work. The children presented in Fiesta 1980 by Junot Diaz and Daddy by Silvia Plath suffers an internal struggle because of their fathers. In Fiesta 1980 there is a chance to improve the relationship where as in Daddy there is no hope because the father is dead. In Fiesta 1980 we can tell the story is told in the first person by and adolescent Latino boy. I can assume that since Junior first met his father s mistress during a trip in the van, which leads me to believe that Yunior associates the vehicle with the crushing emotional distress of learning of his father s infidelity. I feel the poem Daddy is a work of rage and powerlessness of her hate towards her father s death and then how she tried to control this rage by creating a new father in her husband. Her husband is seen in two metaphors, a Nazi and a vampire. The vampire drank her blood , which shows his possessiveness over her. Which correlates once more to how her husband is a model of her father: they both confined her. The metaphor of Nazis brings an understanding of her personal pain and suppression. In my opinion of the two works the one that seem to deal with the theme in a more constructive, realistic, or positive way is Fiesta 1980 . Parts of this story are funny, but mostly there is a sense of real tension between the mother and her sons. However later in the story even this relationship is a source of conflict as Yunior and Rafa must conceal their father s indiscretions. I would argue that the brothers ... • 14. Character Analysis Of Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello Iago is a very complex and manipulative character. This is what makes him a great villian. Throughout the play, he carefully weaves his web and ensnares all the characters in his trap. The root of Iago s malice is Othello not choosing him as his liutenant. He then enlists Rodrigo who wants the affection of Desdemona to help him. He conspires a plan to take down Othello. His plan was to get Cassio fired from his job. Iago accomplishes this by using Cassio s weakness, alcohol. Cassio gets drunk and starts a commotion in town, which Othello comes and handles the situation by firing him. The next part of his plan is to then make sure that Othello sees that Desdemona and Cassio are getting close. He tells Cassio that in order to get his job back, he has to seek help from Desdemona. He does as he is told and he asks Desdemona for help. He uses Cassio to be Desdemona s love interest in order to get to Othello, knowing that Othello loves Desdemona. In the play, it is stated that Cassio is a lady s man and he can handle the ladies. So in Othello s mind, it may not be so shocking that Cassio would do something like that. As Othello and Iago are talking, Othello sees that Cassio and Desdemona are talking and when he approaches them, Cassio swiftly leaves. Parts of his plan was to plant thoughts into Othello s mind that Cassio and Desdemona are having an affair behind his back. The suggestions work because in one of the acts, Othello collapses not being able to handle all the stress in thinking about Desdemona with another man. Another example of this working is in Act 4, Scene 1, Othello gets so upset with Desdemona he slaps her and embarasses her in front of a guest. Act 4 is Othello completely losing all his sense of reasoning and turns into an unreconizable person. Iago convinces Othello that the best way to solve all his problems was to

Discuss [16] The word parliament derives from a word loosely translated as to talk or to deliberate . The UK Parliament consists officially of the two Houses of Parliament: the Lords and the Commons and the monarch, which by convention, delegates his or her authority to a group of ministers known as the executive. The role of parliament is mainly to legislate and to govern the United Kingdom through elected representatives. However the executive has a special role over the legislatures and it has been argued that the UK Parliament has become increasingly dominated by the executive. If a member decides to vote against the party, sanctions can be imposed and in a serious situation when a member rebels, the PM can dismiss or appoint the member to a different position. Therefore the PM can ensure that the executive s priorities and views are expressed in the legislatures. However the executive s control in this regard is not total. There have been headline grabbing notices of member s rebelling against the government position and resigning their position. For example Robin Cook, then leader of the Commons and labour MP resigned his post due to the government s position on Iraq. More recently in March 2008, Brown s government saw rebellion and the opposition saw resignations over the issue of the failure to implement a promised referendum on a new EU reform treaty. As we can see the executive s dominance of the members of the legislature is not total but rebellions are a rarity. The power of the PM to appoint cabinet ministers allows him or her to shape policy and therefore legislation. The Prime Minister appoints the speaker of the house and the Lord Chancellor among others. In this way, the PM and appointees of the executive can have considerable sway over the legislature. • 18. Investment And Conflict Of Romantic Relationships Investment and Conflict in Romantic Relationships Com 620 Mark Pace and Bo Zhang Investment Model The theory of relationship investment is an effort to understand maintenance of ongoing relationships. This model is an expansion of Kelly and Thirbaut s (1978) interdependence theory, which specifies that satisfaction is a function of the reward value of a relationship, relative to expectations, and that commitment stems from the superiority of a relationship, compared with viable alternatives. Interdependence assumes that we evaluate the rewards and costs of our own and our partner s various behaviors in a relationship, and that both partner s actions and preferences impact the nature of the relationship. Rusbult (1980) expanded interdependence theory to include that commitment was determined by satisfaction, quality of alternatives, and investments with subcategories of intrinsic, and extrinsic. Intrinsic includes example ideas like emotion and time while extrinsic includes ideas like mutual friends and shared activities. Rustbult s expansion included the value of resources gained through involvement in a relationship and also resources devoted to developing the association. This model views the ending of a relationship as a loss of resources. Further research such as longitudinal studies on the topic of investment have only strengthened the theory (Bui, Peplau, Hill 1996). The question I ask in this instance is, why was this painting in particular seen so controversial and shocking?, What makes this painting so different to others that have come before it?. There is a long tradition of female nude being represented in beautiful, erotic way, what makes this a stand out? What we can take from the painting at first glance is: The model in the painting itself is leaning upright on a bed, naked, with only an Orchid in her hair, a ribbon tied around her neck, a bangle and some slippers on. A hand maid is standing by her holding a bouquet of flowers while a little black cat is sitting at the end of the bed. If we look and put thought into what we are looking at, we can gather a refined understanding of why this painting stands out. One of the many reasons why the public disfavoured this painting was simply its painting style, the public thought its painting application was very rough and botched, the painting even seemed unfinished to some. Changes Within The Colonization Of Korea Colonization is the action or process of a foreign culture settling among and establishing control over a native culture of a particular geographical location. This is a simplistic and perhaps innocuous description of the colonization process. In fact, all colonization has some aspect of physical coercion as part of its methodology, practice, and progression. The exertion of physical force by one culture upon another may be sufficient to establish initial or sporadic control by the colonizing entity. However, the constant use of physical force as a measure of control is arduous and maybe impossible to sustain long term. Therefore, a successful colonization must be achieved not just by the implementation of physical coercion, but by fundamentally changing aspects of the native culture. In other words, although brute force may be used at the inception or during the process of colonization, for it to be successful, colonizers must effect changes within the native culture that will lead its members to acquiesce, support and aid in their own colonization. A strong historical example of this was Japan s colonization of Korea. Although aspects of Japan s colonization of Korea was militaristic in nature, its eventual success was possible through psychological, educational and cultural means of control. All of her answers gave me advice about how to be a great kindergarten teacher down the line. Standard one, promoting child development and learning, means that a teacher of young children must have an understanding of the characteristics and needs of young children as well as an understanding the many influences on young children (relationships with their families, their health, their learning styles, their opportunity to play) and use this understanding of children s development and learning to create learning environments that are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging for all children. Standard two, building family and community relationships means that a teacher must understand the importance and complex characteristics of children s families and communities. Teachers can then create respectful, reciprocal relationships that support families, and involve families in their children s development and learning. Standard three is knowing how to observe, document, and assess in order to support young children and families. Teachers must understand the goals, benefits, and uses of assessment. They must also know how to use systematic observations, documentation, and other assessment strategies in a responsible way, for the purpose of positively influencing children s development. My community reaches from a small part of Chicago to different, more well known parts of the Windy City. This community has taught me many principles of life despite how my part of the city is secluded and at times, refuses to assimilate. As I ve watched this city grow old, I ve also seen how this community has built me piece by piece to who I am today. As stated by Dorothy Height, without community service, we would not have a strong quality of life. It s important to the person who serves as well as the recipient. It s the way in which we ourselves grow and develop. This, in fact, is true. In the community I have grown to love, the people and the events that occur have taught me how to treat others, regardless our age, knowledge, etc. These morals were ingrained into me the first time when I went shopping with my grandmother. The Industrialization began in the United States in 1865 after the Civil War it went developing for the next five decades. The first transactional railroad was completed in 1869 by workers from China that were paid poorly . There was many more inventions throughout the Industrialization from 1869 1914 that helped the Nation developed. The Industrialization was a process that helped the economy transform into something better and individual laborers are replaced by mass production and craftsman by assembly lines, but even though it meant maybe more work to many s. This affected many due to the poorly paid laborers who worked hard and did not get many advantages from that. It helped in ways that the economy grew even more and better that helped society but not those who were poor. The Industrialization did not much helped many of the workers, who appeared most likely to be immigrants, many of them and their families lived in really bad conditions and had horrible working conditions as well with poor pay for the amount of hours worked, that sometimes those mass productions consisted of child labor. Industrialization impacted the lives of many including children who worked instead of going to school to help support their families. Children back in 1908 1912 worked to get money and help support financially their families many of these children did not attend school whatsoever. As shown on document E we observe images of children working in factories, and having jobs that an adult would have, these children would work to help parents with household. They re gods are powerful and impede with the lives of the humans. They have human emotions and problems. An example of this would be when Ishtar, the God of War and Love, tries to tempt Gilgamesh into having sex with him and he refused. As a result, she was offended and proceeded to seek revenge on him. Though the gods are powerful, they are a lot like the humans and in order for everything to work, the humans and gods have to work together. In some ways, the humans and gods are even similar. For example, they both share the common characteristic of fear. This was shown when the flood began and even the gods were terrified at the flood, they fled to the highest heaven...they crouched against walls, cowering like curs (Gilgamesh 110). This particular flood that occurred within The Epic of Gilgamesh relates to the flood of Noah and the Ark. This flood occurs because Noah s god, Yahweh, was enraged with the wickedness of humanity, therefore, sent a flood to destroy it. Though he sent the flood out of anger, he showed Noah and his family grace by not allowing them to experience the flood, thus, surviving. • 39. Modern Landscape Design Is The Arrangement Of Environments... Modernism, in the context of landscape design, is a result of forms and functions that reflect the need for outdoor living spaces that enhance contemporary lifestyles. As Garrett Eckbo, one of the central figures in modern landscape architecture, said, landscape design is the arrangement of environments for people. Contemporary garden design tends to focus on scale as opposed to formal landscape designs that are based on axial relationships. It also foregoes the more classic landscape design forms and larger scale from Greek, Roman, and classical architecture traditions. This design motif became popular in the 1950 s baby boom, particularly in California where weather and lifestyle was very conducive to this innovative style. In modern landscape design, boundaries between areas of color, textures and shapes are undefined or conversely, sharply defined. Color and composition create the emotional response. Combining freshness and flair, these designs use dramatic geometric shapes to create a point of view that is fluid and natural. Water and light are often used, as in artfully lit outdoor water fountains, to enhance the sensual loveliness and liveliness. The designs are arresting, both close up and far away. Form and Function in Modern Landscape Design As the maxim says, form follows function. Modern landscape design is an aesthetic that shows only what is necessary while often leaving surfaces exposed. The simplicity of modern design reveals itself in that every form ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
