Royal Court Research Paper
Royal Court is known to be one of the Castle s most influential and attended events and on the 11th
day of the 12th moon that tradition continued. A total of forty Denizens from both the Inner and Outer
Bailey joined together to support those who have been honored by the Royal Crown and their peers.
It began at the second late bell where many gathered outside the throne room, eager to get inside to
find their section. After being thoroughly checked by the Winter Watch, Denizens were allowed inside.
Speculations about promotions were murmured as everyone waited in expectation of Her Majesty,
Queen Vivienne, His Excellency, Lord Boreas and His Highness, Prince Bertram. Eventually, the
Royal Heralds filed inward behind the Royal Speaker, Mistress ... Show more content on

Further, She discussed the situation with former Royal Sorcerer, Uwaine. As you are all aware, earlier
this year We were betrayed by Our Royal Sorcerer, who revealed himself to be in league with the
rogue First Sorcerer as well as the Hand of Five which he summoned into Our Realm. Thanks to the
efforts of many, including those from the Conclave and the Royal Sorcerer s own former Apprentice,
Mistress Blodwen, Uwaine was captured and has since awaited in Our prison awaiting Our judgment.
For his crimes against Our subjects, and his willing complicity in the deeds of the First Sorcerer and
the Hand of Five, and based on the extensive casework provided to the Crown by the Winter Watch,
We find the former Royal Sorcerer Uwaine guilty of Treason. We hereby strip ser Uwaine of all rank
and title on Our Chain of Being, and banish his immortal soul to the mists of the afterlife, indefinitely.
Let it be known that Our Mercy has its limits, We will not tolerate those who target the lives of Our

Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Atonement with the Nazi Past Essay
Rainer Werner Fassbinder was arguably one of the greatest German directors after World War II.
During his fifteen year career, Fassbinder directed and produced among his other film works 40 full
length films. Fassbinder was born in a small Bavarian town, Bad Wörishofen, on May 31, 1945, and
died presumably of a drug overdose at the young age of 37 on June 10, 1982. He was the most
prominent German film director, actor and screenwriter in the New German Cinema. He continued the
tradition of great German movies, and dealt with the German Nazi past, the average person s
involvement in the dictatorship and the tendency to suppress the memory of those years after World
War II. The political reality and hard times in the 1920 s helped with ... Show more content on

Many directors and actors claimed that they were not involved with the Nazi regime and just did their
work in films, such as Leni Riefenstahl who failed to examine her role critically in the Nazi regime.
Some actors had a difficult time to gain employment for a short while, such as Heinz Rühmann, but he
achieved success again, as did many actors who were prosperous in the postwar years in the mostly
German market again ( Heinz Ruehmann ). The movies in the 1950 s continued the tradition of
entertainment and many movies were made for pure entertainment of the masses that wanted to escape
their day to day lives. With the occurrence of the economic miracle in the Ludwig Erhard era, people
were busy accumulating wealth yet again and tended to ignore the recent Nazi past ( It s now
Chancellor Erhard ). This premise is what Fassbinder attempted to explore with his movies, the refusal
to deal with the past critically and the concentration on accumulation of wealth and prosperity, often at
the expense of emotional engagement with the fellow humans. Rainer Werner Fassbinder was born at
the end of the war and grew up in the Wirtschaftswunder (=economic miracle) in West Germany s
conservative Bavaria. Coming from the theater, he was an accomplished actor and started to direct his
first low budget movie Love is Colder than Death in 1969 (Smith). Rainer Werner Fassbinder s work
includes film and television, theater, radio plays and essay writing (Smith).

King George III is not looked at very as being a nice by Americans. Today, it is still left unsolved if he

The History Of Hybrid Vehicle
A hybrid vehicle, in its most simple definition, is one that utilizes two or more distinct power sources
to move it. When considering this vehicle type, the most common configuration is a Hybrid Electric
Vehicle (HEV). This frequently used configuration combines an internal combustion engine and one
or more electric motors to move the vehicle. To better understand the concept of hybrid vehicle
technology, the areas that of the topic that should be focused on are the history of hybrid vehicles,
their progression, how hybrid systems work, and the positives and negatives of the use of this
technology today.
The history of modern hybrid vehicle technology can be traced back as early as the beginning of the
20th century. In 1900, Ferdinand Porsche developed a vehicle known as the Mixte, a 4 wheel drive
series hybrid carriage with a later design that featured hub mounted electric motors in each wheel,
powered by a gasoline generator. When considering more modern technology designs such as
regenerative braking, in which energy developed during the braking process is converted to energy
that powers the car, the earliest predecessor can be found dating back to 1967. This concept was first
implemented in the American Motors vehicle known as the Amitron, a battery powered urban vehicle,
and served as the first use of this technology in the United States. Although certain concepts and ideas
were developed early on in the 20th century, their widespread implementation did not occur

Meditation Argumentative Essay
The many improvements in a person s life that can be experienced through meditation are wonderful.
The world can seem so fast paced and hectic that even a few minutes a few times a day can make a big
difference. The calming and soothing relaxation of a guided meditation can help people survive
beyond the harder times life often has to offer. A good meditation guide is where a beginner should
start when entering into meditation.
Meditation has often been linked with spirituality and religion. Used by yoga practitioners as well as
Buddhists, it is also found in Christianity and Catholicism in the form of quiet prayer and inner
contemplation. However, meditation can also work in other fields, such as health care and especially
in controlling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if only taken a few minutes at a time, and only once or twice a day, a person will open
themselves up to living without stress and turmoil. It has been said that the blood chemistry of a
person undergoing guide meditation is different than that of someone experiencing stress. Meditation
allows this calming change to eventually affect other parts of daily life without having to meditate, so
long as meditation itself is practiced on a regular basis.
To begin properly using meditation in one s life, start by creating a list of goals. These should be
things one is willing to accomplish and interested in achieving. Meditation has been able to help
people recover from addictions, deal with chronic pain and long term diseases, and experience
serenity. Whether one is seeking peace or to achieve something, have the list of goals clear in your
mind.
Once a set list of goals is in place, find a good spot within the home to meditate. It s important that
this place be comfortable to sit in and spend time in, a welcoming place. It s also important that this
meditative space be free from regular interruptions. Consider a spot away from the front door and
telephone, the bathroom and kitchen. Make sure it s a place you ll want to come to a few times a

Awesome Stacked Papa Burrito
Last week I ate at Acapulco and enjoyed a delicious 12 inch Papa Burrito. The cheesy smell made my
nostrils dance. The beefy aroma made my mouth water. The Chile Verde smothered on top of the
burrito tingled my nose. The rice had an essence of chicken broth and all these ingredients were inside
a soft flour tortilla.
The Papa Burrito looks very large and wide with a lot of flavor inside. I grab a fork and when I cut
into the burrito I saw a mound of beef with melted cheese dripping off from the fork. Surrounding the
burrito was the orangey rice and brownish warm beans on the right of my plate was a pile of fresh

The company uses a merit based pay structure to recognize employee performance. Yearly evaluations
of performance are conducted to rate employee s results of the year compared to previously set goals.
Kraft Heinz recognizes employees at every level for outstanding performance. In 2014, over a
thousand employees were promoted because of their high performance and the value they added to the
organization (Kraft Heinz, Careers , 2015). Merit based pay is based on individual performance. This
method of pay and raises creates a link between rewards and the employee s performance throughout
the year. A danger of merit based pay, in organizations like Kraft Heinz Co., is that management might
give merit based raises/promotions on how they perceive the employee will perform, so they may over
or under estimate pay decisions (Judge Robbins, 2016, pp. 137). However, the end of the year
assessments the company conducts to review performance and set goals for the next year would help

The Issue of Overcoming Racial Inequality in the United...
The label of inferiority poses immense challenges on the structure of a society. Branding a group of
people as savages creates divisions in society that drastically affects how individuals are supposed to
interact with these inferiors. It makes you think of someone who is uneducated or unsocialized, one
who is not granted full rights and privileges. Other words that might have the same the sort of
connotation for many in the United States today are alien, immigrant worker, or illegal immigrant. For
immigrants who arrive on the shores of America for opportunity, a bleaker outlook has to be realized

Using these concepts to better understand the complex reality of race relations in the United States, a
clearer picture can be painted of why white racial supremacy has been so powerful in all aspects of
U.S. American society.
The institution of slavery in the United States of America was a process that evolved over generations;
an institution which developed in the northern colonies of New England area very differently than the
Southern colonies. In the South, slavery as an institution started to enhance the productivity of
agriculture. It may not have been the most humane way to grow cotton or sugar cane, but slavery
provided essentially free labor to white farmers: The settlers in the Southern States were naturally
tempted by the example of the West Indian planters, to make use of these imported black[s] in the
service of field labor ( Slaves and Slavery ). African people were kidnapped from their home, shipped
across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold as property in order to do manual labor for white people. Many
today are ashamed that the U.S. went through such a cruel period of history when we subjected
millions to the atrocities of the slave trade. The result of the 1860 census states that almost 13% of the
population was slaves, or four million slaves in a country of only 31 million people (US Census

There are several items that a checkpoint can confiscate, as long as the items are negatively affecting
the workplace or pose a risk to other employees, such as guns or adult entertainment. What gets a bit
trickier is when they can take electronic devices at checkpoints, such as cell phones and hard drives.
For a checkpoint to take these items they has to be a policy in place that forbids these types of devices
onsite, the same way cellphones are not allowed in classified meetings. Additional, this is the only
time the company can search an employee s body, consisting of a pat down to ensure there are no
weapons on the subject. However, if the security staff takes any items from MR. Yourporp, they
cannot begin searching thought the information contained on his electronic devices and they must be
held in a designated location for confiscated items. Not following these procedures could lead to jail
time as was the case with an incident at the O Hare Airport (Hilkevitch, 2001). One exception depends
on if the devices are company owned or not, if the device is company owned then they have every
right to collect their devices in order to search the device during a security check. Searching the device
at this time would be unwise, so many companies would have the item taken to their forensic team to

Compare and Contrast Trade Unions in Singapore and China
In the following essay I will be investigating if NTUC and ACFTU are really trade unions and present
the evidence that I have collected which has helped to shape my opinions and support my arguments.
Growing up in Singapore, I have heard about NTUC since I was young but never have I scrutinised
the trade union here so closely. I used to think that NTUC was the company that gave Singaporeans
NTUC Fairprice, the supermarket and NTUC Income for subsidised insurance. To be quite honest, I
was largely ignorant about what the NTUC did, but I knew that the NTUC was fundamentally part of
the government. Taking a glimpse into history and the events that shaped NTUC, I have a newfound
respect and pride for my nation s trade union for the work ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Singapore, the close ties between PAP and NTUC is not a relationship that is kept behind close
doors. In fact, NTUC s Secretary General Lim Chee Onn in 1982 openly stated that the PAP and
NTUC come from the same womb. This elitist society as evidenced goes against the definition of a
trade union, as the members of a trade union should be the common man who isn t part of any elitist
group. The PAP government believes that the NTUC should have elite leadership to guide the non
elite leaders and the ordinary members of the union. The PAP also believed that Singapore would
benefit from appointing the elitist society as, the non elite cannot be relied upon to represent
themselves competently (Barr, 2000, p. 482). This belief reeks of anti democracy however, it has
somehow been accepted with the general public in Singapore. In China, the government usually
appoints the senior officials of the ACFTU. Even if members elect a representative, the union may not
necessarily agree on the elected representative. The top official in ACFTU is also a member of the
leading body of the CCP and usually holds a position more senior in the government than in the union.
As like the NTUC and PAP, the ACFTU and CCP career paths for members are permeable. However,
the status and prospects in the CCP are more desirable than in ACFTU and thus union members are
more prone to associate with CCP s interests than the unions. Both

Hinduism Essay
Hinduism
Hinduism cannot be described as an organized religion. One individual did not found Hinduism.
Hinduism is God centered and therefore one can call Hinduism as founded by God. Hinduism is based
upon Eternal Principles. If a great scientist like Einstein discovered or realized laws of physics,
Hinduism would call him a great Rishi (Maharshi or seer of truth.) Such seers of truth are not confined
to any one age or country. Self realized persons like Jesus Christ would be called Rishis (seers) and
their teachings would be readily acceptable to those who properly understand the principles of
Hinduism . From the ancient times, many great Rishis achieved self realization through such means as

The classical theory is now being rejected by increasing numbers of archeologists and religious
historians. Since Hindus believe that Hinduism pertains to all human beings many timelines begin
with the creation of life and includes major human accomplishments.
The Om is to Hindus As the cross is to Christians. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au and ma
which, when combined, make the sound Aum or Om. The most important symbol in Hinduism, it
occurs in every prayer and invocation to most deities begins with it. As the symbol of piety, Om is
often found at the head of letters, pendants, enshrined in every Hindu temple and family shrines. This
symbol is actually a sacred syllable representing the Brahman or the Absolute the source of all
existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible so a symbol becomes mandatory to help us realize
the Unknowable. The syllable Om occurs even in English words having a similar meaning, for
instance, omniscience , omnipotent , omnipresent . Thus Om is also used to signify divinity and
authority. Its similarity with the Latin M as also to the Greek letter Omega is discernable. Even the
word Amen used by Christians to conclude a prayer seems to be akin to Om.
Second in importance only to the Om, the Swastika, a symbol that looks like the Nazi emblem, holds a
great religious significance for the Hindus. Swastika is not a syllable or a letter, but a pictorial

An Investment Thesis Statement
2.6.1 How Should You Pick Your Targets? Invest With a Thesis An investment thesis is a statement on
how a specific deal will create value for a partic ular merged company. This document explains why
and how an acquisition improves the existing core business. Firms compete on cost position, brand
power, customer loy alty, assets and sometimes government protection (Harding, D. and Rovit, S.
2004). In order to develop an investment thesis you need to analyse the core competency of your own
business and how the firm produces value. Furthermore, acquires need to under stand how to enhance
core competency by acquiring outside targets. In order to suc cessfully identify appropriate target the

These revolve around the question of where do operations need to be integrated, and where the
merging businesses can carry on separately. To answer this work with four decision principles
(Harding, D. and Rovit, S. 2004). 1) Plan for ownership. Launch integration plans months prior to the
deal being publicly announced. Link decisions to the deal s in vestment thesis and to the synergies and
cultural issues identified. Integrate quickly in critical areas. 2) Target areas for integration based on the
investment thesis. Mergers aimed at creating economies of scale require almost seamless integration.
However, mergers aimed at product extension, customer and geographic scope require selective
integration. 3) Put culture high on your leadership agenda. Managers of merged organi zations need to
retool their corporate culture to fit with the deal s investment thesis. Tools include hard tactics
organizational structure, incentives compensation and the di vision of decision making authority to
address cultural integration. 4) Retain key re sources in the core businesses. Mergers can exert a
gravitational pull on employees. Keep the talented focused on taking care of business. Develop a plan
to maintain key employees and protect the customer base. Effective integration generally ranks as the
single most important factor influencing the success of a deal (Harding, D. and Rovit, S.

How Did Eleanor Roosevelt Influence The Declaration Of...
In 1932, when Franklin Roosevelt becomes the president of the United States, his wife, Eleanor

powerful labor unions. Her journey, to make such an impact in the Declaration of Humans Right,
began after president Roosevelt die in 1945. One year after his dead, in 1946, the succeeding
president, Harry S. Truman, invited her to be a United Nations delegate, and a year later, she was
chosen to be the chair of United Nations Commission on Human Rights. In her role as Chief, Eleanor
made sure that the declaration was written simple and clear so that everyone could understand it. She
also managed that the other delegates, in the Humans Right Commission, come to agreements with

Analysis Of The Great Awakening
The brand of education amongst slaves from the Great Awakening takes on several faces, some prove
to be profitable to the ideas spread by Whitefield while others prove to be detrimental to the
perception of educating slaves in Christianity that prevent the further expansion of evangelization to
slaves. Two portrayals of implementation of Awakening rhetoric are with the Bryan family, southern
planters in South Carolina, and Samuel Davies, a minister in Virginia. The Bryan family had a
connection with George Whitefield because they would provide assistance to evangelicals and in
particular with Whitefield s Bethesda orphanage in Georgia. They owned a plantation in South
Carolina that helped provide financial support for the orphanage and they were zealous about the new
wave of evangelicalism in the colonies and were seeking ways that they could implement the new
teachings into their lives. Jonathan Bryan began to seek reforms in the institution of slavery in South
Carolina by following the teachings of Whitefield. Their critiques of South Carolina were that there
was no time for slaves to convert to Christianity because they would generally work seven days a
week and not have the opportunity to hear about Christianity.
The Bryans reforms amongst slavery was not welcomed by many South Carolinians and a committee
was formed to investigate the level of reform that the Bryans had and the report said that a great

Foundational Biblical Worldview
Paul is writing the book of Romans as an occasional letter to the believers in Rome, whom he has
never personally met, but desires to connect with very soon. It appears to be a pastoral letter written in
an apocalyptic style, because he is dealing with a church that needs direction. He is writing boldly to
them to encourage unity as God s people. Romans 15:15 attests to the strength of his message when he
states, I have written very boldly to you on some points . Paul is in essence building a framework of
beliefs for believers to view the world around them (Caner Hindson. 2008. Pg.498). Romans though
not a systematic theological message, chapters 1 8 are strong truths for a foundational biblical
worldview.

This movement didn t happen overnight, but it is a production of the human nature. The human or
sinful worldview demands for its own rights, its own way, its own desires to be fulfilled. Continuing
to build a foundational message with boldness, Paul explains that the reason God sent the law was to
bring our sin to our attention so we would realize how desperately we need His grace. He points out
that sin had already conquered the human race long before the Law arrived, which is indisputably
proved by the fact that sin had already produced death in every human (Romans 5:21 New Living
Testament). Sin and self separate us from God, grace brings us near. Romans 6. Since we have united
with him in his death, we will also raise to life as he was. Verse 12 Paul remind believers that our life
in Christ gives us power over so, Do not let sin control the way you live do not give in to sinful
desires.
A lesson that I have learned the hard way is that people will let you down, but God never will. Another
important aspect for a foundation of a biblical worldview is in human relationships. From the
beginning God intended for man to interact and be fruitful with one another in harmonious

Pike Life Lessons
Pike
Over the past three seasons we have seen quite some villains on the show. Most of them were grey ish:
they had the right intentions but not the right methods. Think of Diana Sydney, Queen Anya, Dante
Wallace, Queen Nia. There were some less redeemable villains like Cage Wallace and there are a few
that are just downright unlikeable (remember Dr. Lorelei Tsing?). However, Pike takes unlikeable
villains to new dimensions. Nothing that the show has done has made him even a bit likeable. I want
him dead and the sooner he dies, the better it will be. His character comes off as a one dimensional
villain that only cares about killing Grounders. His argument that every Grounder is the same is
bullshit, and if he doesn t see that he must be blind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What s interesting is that this episode revealed that ALIE can only be seen by those that take her pills.
However, this contradicts with what we saw in the previous episodes. In the premiere and episode 2,
Murphy saw ALIE without taking a pill. This episode showed that Pike couldn t see ALIE when he
was talking to Jaha. Also, Raven did not see her until after she had taken the pill. I am curious to see
how that works and how exactly that bag works that Jaha carries around with him. I do hope that
ALIE s storyline doesn t get too supernatural. It seemed like Raven s leg just miraculously healed. We
also saw that Jaha said to Otan to go the other side where ALIE would be waiting for him. I must
admit that the storyline has me intrigued

Country And Rap Comparison
In September 2004, American hip hop recording artist Nelly released Over and Over , a collaboration
with American country singer songwriter Tim McGraw; the song peaked at number three on the US
Billboard Hot 100.This being one of the first of many country/ Hip Hop songs produced. When most
people think of Country music and Hip Hop/ Rap they do not think of the two as similar genre s
coming together to make music, but the two are very similar. Rap and Country both portray meaning,
as they express life stories throughout their lyrics. Symbolizing different meanings in their lives. The

Hip hop/ Rap and Country both portray a very strong meaning behind their lyrical content, as they

even someone that they themselves have shot. As for country singers sing about how all they have

It was the summer of 2012 when Jason Witten, one of the most distinguished tight ends to ever play

My favorite place I ve ever lived was Bury St. Edmunds, England. My family lived in Bury our first
year here before we moved to Mildenhall to be closer to the middle school as the bus ride from Bury

One of my favorite things in Bury St. Edmunds is the Abbey Gardens. Our house in Bury was just a
short 15 minute walk from there. They are the ruins and grounds of what used to be one of the most
powerful abbeys in England. Today, the abbey grounds have been turned into a public park and
visitors are allowed to walk around the ruins freely. The Abbey Gardens include a beautiful flower

There are also various plaques around the town that highlight the town s history, such as the plaque on

Our invasive and native species impact our eco systems dramatically. Although they seem to be
harmless from rapid breeding and overpopulation. Taking over the surrounding areas so that other

endangering other species that live in the same habitat.
Monitoring our wildlife will protect our succession in preventing ecosystem changes. Such as the
damage from invasive species on a natural habitat. Invasive species will unintentionally take over the

advantage for monitoring reproduction of grass carps is to be able to maintain the way they reproduce.

During an El Niño, these trade winds weaken, and may at times reverse from west to east. The most
persistent thunderstorms will shift from the western to the eastern and central Pacific Ocean in an El

Strategies of Youth Justice Policies

motivations and identify and evaluate the social and political context. The 1908 Child Act; Children
and Young Persons Act, the Criminal Justice Act; Crime and Disorder Act 1998 and Anti Social

Youth justice is a creature of historical development. The structure of the industry is full of dominant
philosophies which have seeped into the foundations, which still monopolise and govern
contemporary practice and although new perspectives have emerged over the recent history, it is
necessary to trace the evolution over the last century to understand the logic behind the practice.

More young people and pre delinquent children were being drawn into the net of juvenile justice and
Springhall (1986) remarked that the impact of the 1933 Children and Young Persons Act seemed to
direct young people to court, rather than divert, under the assumption that care and treatment would
follow (cited in Muncie, 2009).
The system legitimised by welfare is always likely to come under attack from those seeking more a
punitive and retributive response. Over the 1950s and 1960s local authority care provided attendance
centres for the neglected and detention centres established by the impact of the Criminal Justice Act

The Children and Young Persons (Amended) Act 1952 allowing courts to remand offenders to local

created two strategies in which the system of control (the criminal justice system) and care (welfare
system) became intertwined.

The Uncompromising Code of Bartleby the Scrivener Essay
The Uncompromising Code of Bartleby the Scrivener
There are certain social codes that we are expected to follow. They are too numerous and obscure to
know but for the most part, they don t need to be known. The unspoken, unwritten set of rules we are
obligated to live by are subtly imbued in us from birth. When we live outside those boundaries and
follow our own desires, we are walking on thin ice. An eccentric choice in wardrobe or unusual habits
can make the difference between being considered an individual who thinks outside of the box, or just
a plain old lunatic. When someone refuses to adhere to our social codes, they become suspect. But
what drives them, enables them to refuse in the first place?

By the time Bartleby arrives at the Lawyer s office, he has been infused with the belief that what we
accomplish on this earth is arbitrary. This empowers him to be almost completely unconcerned with
the repercussions of his actions, and let loose his most unreasonable, uncivilized self.
Despite this freedom of his, he strives to be of some use for a while. In fact, he seems to be the best
worker out of the lot copying day and night accomplishing an extraordinary quantity of writing. But as
time wears on, he becomes less compelled to do anything worthwhile. Physically sealed off from the

A stark, flat, limitation blocking out the light and hope of the day. To another, it might be

Bartleby seeks; it is not optimism that he embraces. He finds comfort in the peaceful nothingness of

The Rise Of The Roaring Twenties
The 1920s, or better known as the roaring twenties changed the lives of women in America politically,
physically and mentally. Women were granted more freedom, the right to vote, changed their physical
appearance, and focused on materialistic goals instead of moral values. Before World War I, women
would wear a high collar, long straight skirts below the knee and long hair that was tied loosely. The
roaring twenties brought along swing dancing and jazz which changed the way women dressed and
danced. Not only did the roaring twenties bring along flourishing taste in music, but flappers came
into play. Flappers were women who wore short sparkly dresses, cut their hair into a bob, wore heavy
make up, drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes and partied all night. After World War 1 ended the
Nineteenth Amendment was ratified on August 18th 1920, this granted American women the right to
vote, it stated, The right of the citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by
the United States or by any state on account of sex , (The Nineteenth Amendment, Smentkowski).
Before the 1800s through the early 1900s female citizens in the United States were not permitted the
same rights as men. It was not until 1848 where Elizabeth Cady Staton and Lucretia Mott organized a
convention in Seneca Falls, New York, to demand the right to vote should not be based on sex. Staton

Federal Reserve Operations And Market Impact
Federal Reserve Operations and Market Impact In order for the Federal Reserve to fulfill their goal of
moderate long term interest rates, stable prices and maximum employment, they rely on developing
strategic changes to the monetary policy. Through monetary policy changes, the Federal Reserve can
either restrict or encourage economic growth and inflation, thereby molding the macroeconomy into a
state of consistent health. Overall, there are three tools used to modify the monetary policy, they
include reserve requirements, discount rates, and open market operations. In an effort to promote price
stability within the economy, these tools influence monetary conditions by affecting interest rates,
credit availability, money supply and security prices. While one tool is use more frequently than the
others, all three are necessary in establishing stable economic conditions.
Reserve Requirement The reserve requirement is a tool used by the Federal Reserve to adapt the
monetary policy to their target range. Reserve requirements control the minimum amount of funds a
depository intuition is required to maintain against their liabilities (Federal Reserve, n.d).
Furthermore, the reserve requirement is usually tied into a ratio of transaction accounts the depository
institutions holds. Consequently, a decrease in the reserve requirement allows institutions to hold less
funds enabling them to loan out a greater percentage, thereby increasing the funds available within the

As if man were author of himself/ and knew no other kin
How sharper than a serpent s tooth it is
To have a thankless child (Act 1 Scene 4 lines 285 6)
These lines spoken by the eponymous hero of Shakespeare s King Lear , sum up the main theme of
the play. Lear is a king nearing the end of his reign, who decides to split his kingdom between his
three daughters. In this play Shakespeare presents us with a patriarchal family. It would appear that
Lear raised his daughter alone, just as Volumnia raises her son, Coriolanus alone. In the play
Coriolanus we are presented with the reversal of Lear s family, by seeing one of the matriarchal
dominance. Through comparing these two plays one can see how Shakespeare tackles the problems ...

Act 1 Scene 1 lines 78 9
It is obvious that Cordelia s love for her father outstrips that of her sisters but she can t express it in
the way Lear wants her too:
Unhappy that I am, I cannot heave
My heart into my mouth. I love your majesty
According to my bond, no more no less.
Act 1 Scene 1 lines 91 3
Lear mistakes her simple yet honest proclamations for a lack of feelings. In his anger he disowns and
banishes her. Before the first scene has concluded we are made aware of Lear s failings as a father. He
believes the vacuous platitudes of Goneril and Regan and yet can t understand that what his youngest
says means more than them. He knows it s true but becomes angry at her refusal to praise him with
flattery:
So let it be! Thy truth then be thy dower!
Act 1 Scene 1 line 108
It can be argued that Cordelia s withdrawal from the flattery game is her way of alerting Lear to his
poor judgement. Her reluctance in following her sisters in the `glib speaking contest can be seen as a
sign of her honesty. As the play continues we learn to mistrust those for whom words flow easily. In
surrendering his kingdom to his two less than worthy daughters, Lear makes a monumental mistake,
and one which ultimately leads to his death.
Lear doesn t appear to know how to

Essay on Art Criticism and Art History
Art criticism and Art History
Case Study: The use of assemblage and the found object in historical and contemporary art practice.
The origins of the practice of assemblage can be traced back to its early twentieth century roots based
on ideas presented by Dadaists. The Dada movement was a literary and artistic movement during the
First World War and further developed as a non art movement. The main idea of Dada was to not
follow a uniform rule of what an artwork entails in order to be valued. This movement was significant
in the development and history of art as it challenged society with new ideas therefore provoking

Duchamp s works are both seen as postmodern as they use postmodern conventions such as
appropriation and parody (as seen in L.H.O.O.Q) and recontextualisation in Fountain (above).
* * * * * * * * * * *
The re emergence of the found object in pop art was significant in the development of the history of
art as it reinforced previous ideas presented by the Dada artists of aesthetics and of what society will
accept as an artistic work.
The re emergence of the found object in pop art looked at artworks using contemporary theories and
knowledge that were established in the 1980s to challenge traditional and modernist ideas, which was
exactly the aim of the Dadaists. It is due to the challenging of contemporary perceptions of art in
which the found object would be considered a postmodern practice in its time.
Found art (also known as Ready mades) is a description of art created by modified and undisguised
objects that are not considered art for the main reason of their non art function. The art created by
these found objects convey meaning through their context, assemblage/composition and by the artists
intention and approaches taken to montage pieces together.
The use of assemblage and the found object in Pop Art practice became an artistic trend and is
exemplified by Robert Rauschenberg where he combines installations with the assemblage of large
physical objects and commercial photography to form Combine in 1963. Rauschenberg

share similar personalities and even names. First, they have the same main characters. Kathrine
Minola in The Taming of the Shrew and Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You are both
women who are very rude, harsh and are sometimes violent. From their personalities, it is obvious that
both are the shrew in the play and the movie, which means they are argumentative and ill tempered.
Kat is more verbally abusive while Kathrine is physically abusive. Although they are seen and viewed

money that was given by Bapista to Petruchio. The difference is also the age. In 10 Things I Hate

at all. The characters are all different races, so it is hard for them to go out in the world without
thinking they are being judged or bullied by other people. In the story, we see the characters building

But that s not the only theme to the story. There are tons more morals and themes. Such as the garden.
The garden helps bring people together and makes the dirty neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio more
diverse. The characters in the book all have something in common, they all deal with family issues
and their races and cultures make them feel like they don t belong. But when the community garden is

how they look when they go out in public. They do not easily meet new people due to their cultural

One of the nurses even says that if she had a face like Janet Tyler s I d bury myself in a grave

since as one of the doctors sates Under certain circumstances, Miss Tyler, the state does provide for
the extermination of undesirables. But the doctor also tries to stress the importance of her humanity by
suggesting that she move to a special area designed for people of her kind. This angers Janet since the
special area is basically a Ghetto designed for freaks! This invokes horror that reminds viewers of the
Nazi concentration camps that ended only fifteen years prior to the episode airing. The society shown

Reflective Essay On Critical Thinking
Questioning and challenging my assumptions and attitudes about critical thinking is a new process for
me, but I do appreciate that to develop and enhance my assumptions and other mindsets it is an
important undertaking. Looking at what we hold to be true is an endeavor well trenched into us as we
evolved. The real value of critical thinking is that it s been at the root of all human progress
(Rabinowitz, 2015).
Being challenged on my thinking is difficult, but once I got through the difficulty I realized it was for
my betterment as a student and as a teacher. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early
childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall
the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the
committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by
Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I
did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains
and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. Interestingly,
both have since been challenged and changed through my readings as it is important to note that the
most common usage of Bloom s Taxonomy focuses on cognitive learning skills rather than
psychomotor or affective skills, two domains that are crucial to the success of health

Essay about Socrates vs Gilgamesh
Joe Arce 19 Sept 2011 Socrates Vs. Gilgamesh Socrates view of death in the Phaedo, Crito, and
Apology is complex. His argument tries to prove that philosophers, of all people, are in the best state
to die or will be in the best state after life because of the life they lead. Socrates views are sharply
contrasted in The Epic of Gilgamesh. In fact, he would probably say that Gilgamesh had not lived the
proper kind of life and his views of life, and death would lead to an unsettled existence in the afterlife.
Socrates view of death, from his opinions on the act of dying, the state of the soul after death, and the
fear of death, differs from that of The Epic of Gilgamesh to the extent that Socrates would refute every
belief about death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enkidu s death is the consequence of insulting the Gods. Socrates would disagree with the belief that
death is a punishment from the Gods for several reasons. In the Phaedo, he claims that the true lover
of wisdom, that is the philosopher, must escape from the body and observe matters in themselves with
the soul by itself (Plato 103). So, since death is the separation of the soul from the body, only at death
can we gain true wisdom. He says, Wisdom itself is a kind of cleansing . . . he who arrives [in the
underworld] purified and initiated will dwell with the gods (Plato 106). Evidently, if the soul can only
attain wisdom from death and if that wisdom leads to purification, which assures you a place with the
gods, then Socrates would disagree with The Epic of Gilgamesh that death is a punishment from the
gods. This evidence leads us to a look at the contrasting views of an afterlife. In the Phaedo, Socrates
explains how the soul exists in the afterlife through the use of two main theories, the theory of
opposites and the theory of recollection. It is important to note that he also draws a connection
between the soul and wisdom as a rationalization for his belief in an afterlife, saying, When the soul
investigates by itself it passes into the realm of what is pure, ever existing, immortal and unchanging .
. . its experience then is what we call wisdom (Plato 118). By relating the two he can

1920 s Medical Technology Essay
Tight, prickly, acidic like air sliding down your throat, burning your lungs with every ounce of air
taken in. Walking into the hospital today, with a killer cough, you would undergo a chest CT and an
eco; if your condition was paralis. Joel D. Howell specified that, In the 1900 s, going to the doctor
with a severe cough, the proxy would be a cough drop or a hot shower. Medical technology has
enhanced since the 1900 s, but we wouldn t be anywhere without the medical advances in the 1920 s .
In the 1920 s, medical technology was heavily affected by the end of the WW1, the Fleming fail,
prohibition and cigarettes.
After the WW1 many men lost their lives due to wounds left opened and untreated. The men were
injured with lacerations deep and flesh hanging off the body. America needed to commence something

When the iron lung became effective it gave women a new opportunity to breathe and start new. The
end of WW1 took a huge hit on everyone. Wives widowed and fathers lost to war. They were in need
of quick medical help and adhesive bandages came in handy. The adhesive bandage fought bacteria
and gave men chances. When Fleming went back over his research he found penicillin, the answer to
everything. Penicillin opened the eyes to Flemming and then lead to antibiotics. the death rate went
down 2% after antibiotics took a turn. The end of WW1, Flemming fail and cigarettes all affected the
1920 s medical technology. After the end of WW1 there was a need for medical advancement. The
fleming fail was the greatest medical epidemic of the 20th century. Most women began smoking
which damaged the lungs of many.
The iron lung was a ventilator that helped people breathe. Antibiotics were the cure and building block
for everything. Adhesive bandages worked by keeping steryl wounds clean and rid of

Dramatic Irony in Hamlet Essay
Dramatic irony in the Shakespearean tragedy Hamlet has long been the subject matter of literary
critical reviews. This essay will exemplify and elaborate on the irony in the play.
David Bevington in the Introduction to Twentieth Century Interpretations of Hamlet identifies one of
the richest sources of dramatic irony in Hamlet:
Well may the dying Hamlet urge his friend Horatio to report me and my cause aright To the
unsatisfied, for no one save Horatio has caught more than a glimpse of Hamlet s true situation. We as
omniscient audience, hearing the inner thoughts of Claudius as well as of Hamlet and learning of
Polonius or Laertes secret plottings with the king, should remember that we know vastly more than the
play s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
George Lyman Kittredge, in his book, Five Plays of Shakespeare, describes the Bard s excellent
characterization of Claudius:
King Claudius is a superb figure almost as great a dramatic creation as Hamlet himself. His
intellectual powers are of the highest order. He is eloquent formal when formality is appropriate (as in
the speech from the throne), graciously familiar when familiarity is in place (as is his treatment of the
family of Polonius), persuasive to an almost superhuman degree (as in his manipulation of the
insurgent Laertes) always and everywhere a model of royal dignity. His courage is manifested, under
the most terrifying circumstances, when the mob breaks into the palace. His self control when the
dumb show enacts his secret crime before his eyes is nothing less than marvelous. (xviii)
The irony found in the characterization of the antagonist is balanced by an equal irony in the
presentation of the protagonist. Hamlet is present at the court gathering dressed in black, the color of
mourning, for his deceased father. He is not a man of the world, but rather demurring and thoughtful
and by himself. His first words say that Claudius is A little more than kin and less than kind, indicating
a dissimilarity in values

  • 3. Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s Atonement with the Nazi Past Essay Rainer Werner Fassbinder was arguably one of the greatest German directors after World War II. During his fifteen year career, Fassbinder directed and produced among his other film works 40 full length films. Fassbinder was born in a small Bavarian town, Bad Wörishofen, on May 31, 1945, and died presumably of a drug overdose at the young age of 37 on June 10, 1982. He was the most prominent German film director, actor and screenwriter in the New German Cinema. He continued the tradition of great German movies, and dealt with the German Nazi past, the average person s involvement in the dictatorship and the tendency to suppress the memory of those years after World War II. The political reality and hard times in the 1920 s helped with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many directors and actors claimed that they were not involved with the Nazi regime and just did their work in films, such as Leni Riefenstahl who failed to examine her role critically in the Nazi regime. Some actors had a difficult time to gain employment for a short while, such as Heinz Rühmann, but he achieved success again, as did many actors who were prosperous in the postwar years in the mostly German market again ( Heinz Ruehmann ). The movies in the 1950 s continued the tradition of entertainment and many movies were made for pure entertainment of the masses that wanted to escape their day to day lives. With the occurrence of the economic miracle in the Ludwig Erhard era, people were busy accumulating wealth yet again and tended to ignore the recent Nazi past ( It s now Chancellor Erhard ). This premise is what Fassbinder attempted to explore with his movies, the refusal to deal with the past critically and the concentration on accumulation of wealth and prosperity, often at the expense of emotional engagement with the fellow humans. Rainer Werner Fassbinder was born at the end of the war and grew up in the Wirtschaftswunder (=economic miracle) in West Germany s conservative Bavaria. Coming from the theater, he was an accomplished actor and started to direct his first low budget movie Love is Colder than Death in 1969 (Smith). • 5. The History Of Hybrid Vehicle A hybrid vehicle, in its most simple definition, is one that utilizes two or more distinct power sources to move it. When considering this vehicle type, the most common configuration is a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV). This frequently used configuration combines an internal combustion engine and one or more electric motors to move the vehicle. To better understand the concept of hybrid vehicle technology, the areas that of the topic that should be focused on are the history of hybrid vehicles, their progression, how hybrid systems work, and the positives and negatives of the use of this technology today. The history of modern hybrid vehicle technology can be traced back as early as the beginning of the 20th century. In 1900, Ferdinand Porsche developed a vehicle known as the Mixte, a 4 wheel drive series hybrid carriage with a later design that featured hub mounted electric motors in each wheel, powered by a gasoline generator. When considering more modern technology designs such as regenerative braking, in which energy developed during the braking process is converted to energy that powers the car, the earliest predecessor can be found dating back to 1967. This concept was first implemented in the American Motors vehicle known as the Amitron, a battery powered urban vehicle, and served as the first use of this technology in the United States. A good meditation guide is where a beginner should start when entering into meditation. Meditation has often been linked with spirituality and religion. Using these concepts to better understand the complex reality of race relations in the United States, a clearer picture can be painted of why white racial supremacy has been so powerful in all aspects of U.S. American society. The institution of slavery in the United States of America was a process that evolved over generations; an institution which developed in the northern colonies of New England area very differently than the Southern colonies. In the South, slavery as an institution started to enhance the productivity of agriculture. It may not have been the most humane way to grow cotton or sugar cane, but slavery provided essentially free labor to white farmers: The settlers in the Southern States were naturally tempted by the example of the West Indian planters, to make use of these imported black[s] in the service of field labor ( Slaves and Slavery ). African people were kidnapped from their home, shipped across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold as property in order to do manual labor for white people. Many today are ashamed that the U.S. went through such a cruel period of history when we subjected millions to the atrocities of the slave trade. For a checkpoint to take these items they has to be a policy in place that forbids these types of devices onsite, the same way cellphones are not allowed in classified meetings. In fact, NTUC s Secretary General Lim Chee Onn in 1982 openly stated that the PAP and NTUC come from the same womb. This elitist society as evidenced goes against the definition of a trade union, as the members of a trade union should be the common man who isn t part of any elitist group. The PAP government believes that the NTUC should have elite leadership to guide the non elite leaders and the ordinary members of the union. The PAP also believed that Singapore would benefit from appointing the elitist society as, the non elite cannot be relied upon to represent themselves competently (Barr, 2000, p. 482). This belief reeks of anti democracy however, it has somehow been accepted with the general public in Singapore. In China, the government usually appoints the senior officials of the ACFTU. The top official in ACFTU is also a member of the leading body of the CCP and usually holds a position more senior in the government than in the union. Two portrayals of implementation of Awakening rhetoric are with the Bryan family, southern planters in South Carolina, and Samuel Davies, a minister in Virginia. Despite this freedom of his, he strives to be of some use for a while. In fact, he seems to be the best worker out of the lot copying day and night accomplishing an extraordinary quantity of writing. • 29. The Rise Of The Roaring Twenties The 1920s, or better known as the roaring twenties changed the lives of women in America politically, physically and mentally. Women were granted more freedom, the right to vote, changed their physical appearance, and focused on materialistic goals instead of moral values. Before World War I, women would wear a high collar, long straight skirts below the knee and long hair that was tied loosely. The roaring twenties brought along swing dancing and jazz which changed the way women dressed and danced. Not only did the roaring twenties bring along flourishing taste in music, but flappers came into play. Flappers were women who wore short sparkly dresses, cut their hair into a bob, wore heavy make up, drank alcohol, smoked cigarettes and partied all night. After World War 1 ended the Nineteenth Amendment was ratified on August 18th 1920, this granted American women the right to vote, it stated, The right of the citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex , (The Nineteenth Amendment, Smentkowski). Before the 1800s through the early 1900s female citizens in the United States were not permitted the same rights as men. Federal Reserve Operations And Market Impact Federal Reserve Operations and Market Impact In order for the Federal Reserve to fulfill their goal of moderate long term interest rates, stable prices and maximum employment, they rely on developing strategic changes to the monetary policy. Through monetary policy changes, the Federal Reserve can either restrict or encourage economic growth and inflation, thereby molding the macroeconomy into a state of consistent health. Overall, there are three tools used to modify the monetary policy, they include reserve requirements, discount rates, and open market operations. In an effort to promote price stability within the economy, these tools influence monetary conditions by affecting interest rates, credit availability, money supply and security prices. While one tool is use more frequently than the others, all three are necessary in establishing stable economic conditions. Reserve Requirement The reserve requirement is a tool used by the Federal Reserve to adapt the monetary policy to their target range. Reserve requirements control the minimum amount of funds a depository intuition is required to maintain against their liabilities (Federal Reserve, n.d). The main idea of Dada was to not follow a uniform rule of what an artwork entails in order to be valued. The re emergence of the found object in pop art looked at artworks using contemporary theories and knowledge that were established in the 1980s to challenge traditional and modernist ideas, which was exactly the aim of the Dadaists. It is due to the challenging of contemporary perceptions of art in which the found object would be considered a postmodern practice in its time. Found art (also known as Ready mades) is a description of art created by modified and undisguised objects that are not considered art for the main reason of their non art function. My prior experience as an undergraduate in early childhood education with Bloom s focused mainly on the cognitive domain and thus I cannot recall the affective or psychomotor domains being addressed. However, as I began to understand that the committee identified three domains of educational activities or learning (Bloom, 1956 as cited by Clark, 2015), I realized that I did have assumptions and that they were being challenged. First of all, I did assume that Bloom s focus on cognitive development devalues the importance of other domains and secondly that Bloom s Taxonomy is only used by educators in K 12 and college. His argument tries to prove that philosophers, of all people, are in the best state to die or will be in the best state after life because of the life they lead. Socrates views are sharply contrasted in The Epic of Gilgamesh. In fact, he would probably say that Gilgamesh had not lived the proper kind of life and his views of life, and death would lead to an unsettled existence in the afterlife. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Enkidu s death is the consequence of insulting the Gods. Socrates would disagree with the belief that death is a punishment from the Gods for several reasons. In the Phaedo, he claims that the true lover of wisdom, that is the philosopher, must escape from the body and observe matters in themselves with the soul by itself (Plato 103). So, since death is the separation of the soul from the body, only at death can we gain true wisdom. He says, Wisdom itself is a kind of cleansing . . . he who arrives [in the underworld] purified and initiated will dwell with the gods (Plato 106). Evidently, if the soul can only attain wisdom from death and if that wisdom leads to purification, which assures you a place with the gods, then Socrates would disagree with The Epic of Gilgamesh that death is a punishment from the gods. This evidence leads us to a look at the contrasting views of an afterlife. In the Phaedo, Socrates explains how the soul exists in the afterlife through the use of two main theories, the theory of opposites and the theory of recollection. It is important to note that he also draws a connection between the soul and wisdom as a rationalization for his belief in an afterlife, saying, When the soul investigates by itself it passes into the realm of what is pure, ever existing, immortal and unchanging . . . its experience then is what we call wisdom (Plato 118).
