This document discusses the procurement cycle and the key steps involved. It begins with an introduction to the procurement cycle and what it entails. The main steps in the procurement cycle are then outlined as: need identification, procurement planning, requirement specification, tender solicitation, tender preparation, tender evaluation, contract award, and contract performance. Several important documents in the procurement cycle are also defined, such as requests for proposals, requests for information, requests for quotations, solicitations, offers, contracts and amendments/modifications. Finally, the "5R's in procurement" are listed as obtaining the right quality, quantity, price, place and time.

Chapter 13 Technical Objectives:
Describe the various formats for supply contracts and when each is appropriate.
Given a project situation, determine which activities, supplies, or services should be purchased; create bid documents; determine criteria you would use to select a seller; & determine which type of contract you would use.
Chapter 13 Behavioral Objectives:
Explain how to use the contemporary approach to project partnering and collaboration.

11. A concrete dam can be assumed to be trapezoidal in section having a top width of 2 m and bottom width of 10 m. Its height is 12 m and the upstream face has a batter of 1: 10. Give an analysis of the stability of the dam for the base section for overturning and sliding in the full reservoir condition assuming no free-board allowance but allowing for uplift pressures. Assume uplift intensity factor ast 100%. Also determine the compressive stresses at the toe and the heel, and major principal and shear stress developed at the toe. Assume weight of concrete to be 24 kN/m³, unit shear strength of concrete
to be 1400 KN/m³, and the coefficient of friction between concrete and foundation soil to be 0.7.

R.L. of bottom of the dam

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
2. Introduction
Procurement cycle. is the cyclical process of key
steps when procuring goods or services. This
mode has been developed to guide members
through the procurement process with links
relevant knowledge to support you every step of
the way through your procurement journey
4. Steps involved in procurement
cycle(local and international)
It very important for the management to
understand the art of acquiring products and
services, in the way that procurement follows
specific steps for identifying needs up to
awarding of contract.
The followings are the steps involved in
procurement cycle:-
6. DOCUMENTS IN PROCUREMENT
CYCLE
• RFP - A request for proposal is an early stage in a
procurement process issuing an invitation for
suppliers, often through a bidding process, to submit
a proposal on a specific commodity or service.
• RFI - A request for information (RFI) is a proposal
requested from a potential seller or a service
provider to determine what products and services
are potentially available in the marketplace to meet a
buyer's needs and to know the capability of a seller
in terms of offerings and strengths of the seller.
7. Cont.…….
Invitation to tender letter
Instructions to bidders
Bid data sheet
Standard forms for technical and financial proposals
Terms of reference
Draft contract
Form of tender
Specification
Invoices
Bills of quantities and schedule of rates
8. Cont.…..
RFQ - A request for quotation (RFQ) is used when discussions with
bidders are not required (mainly when the specifications of a
product or service are already known) and when price is the main
or only factor in selecting the successful bidder.
Solicitations: These are invitations of bids, requests for quotations
and proposals. These may serve as a binding contract.
Offers - This type of procurement documents are bids, proposals
and quotes made by potential suppliers to prospective clients.
Contracts - Contracts refer to the final signed agreements between
clients and suppliers.
Amendments/Modifications - This refers to any changes in
solicitations, offers and contracts. Amendments/Modifications have
to be in the form of a written document.
