This document discusses the emergence of private educational institutions in India. 7.  Even today the literacy rate in India is only
around 52.6% .therefore it has become
unavoidable to permit private agencies also in
the gigantic task of providing universal
education.
 According to “economics of education”
educational expanses in developing countries
are to be treated as ‘investment’.
 There could be no healthy competition among
the educational institutions if they are under the
control of the government.

8.  In addition to this the government also stands to gain
in permitting self-financing educational institutions
so as to acquire the power to expand educational
infrastructures without deploying its own funds.

9. EDUCATIONAL REASONS
As students remit heavy fees for their education in
private institutions their sense of responsibility and
motivation for learning increase
Teachers in private educational institutions have no job
security and hence they do not indulge in such disruptive
activities like strike and dharna hindering the congenial
educational climate prevailing in schools and colleges
As salary and other perks of teachers of private schools
are related to merit and efficiency, their productivity
increases which is instrumental in enhancing the quality
of education made available to students.

10.  The competition that get developed among the
educational institutions motivates each one of
them to raise the standard of education so as to
survive in the race.
 The principal and teachers of private schools
know that they are accountable for their
performance and hence their functional
efficiency is high.
 In implementing various co-curricular activities
and selecting textbooks and other instructional
materials, there exists no unwanted restrictions
and stipulations.

11.  As parents are paying hefty school fees, they realise their role
and responsibilities and cooperate with the school.
 As most of the self-financing schools have
fairly good infrastructure like school building,
library, laboratory and playground students
have good opportunity to obtain proficiency
in different aspects of education.
 As the number of schools in
the private sector is going on increasing
every year educated youths, particularly
those who have completed
their teacher-training programme
stand a good chance of being employed. thus private
schools create a good job-market for educated youths.

12. DEMERTS OF PRIVATISATION OF

13.  Due to the cut-throat competition
among the private schools ,
in getting their pupils score
high, they indulge in all
sorts of corrupt practices
in the examinations.
 Private schools often forget
that the primary aim of
education is the promotion
of all round development in
children and mostly resort to
coaching of student to score
high in the ensuing public
examinations.
thus schools nowadays have become
mere “knowledge shops”.
