How Did Emile Durkheim Characterize Suicide
Introduction
The primary source that will be discussed in this paper is Suicide written by Emile Durkheim.
Durkheim was a French sociologist who was most famous in the 19th and 20th century for his work
on the structure of society. During the time of his writings, he analyzed different social institutions
and the roles in which they play in society. As a result, his work was associated with the theoretical
framework of structural functionalism. The 19th century was most known for the Industrial
Revolution. This is evident in Durkheim s writing in Suicide.
Suicide The intent of Durkheim s writing was to discover why there was such an increase of suicide
rates as nations became industrialized and consumer capitalism became dominant. Durkheim s ...

Coming into a big school and leaving everything you know, often leads individuals to feel
overwhelmed and stressed. Additionally, when these individuals feel as though they do not fit in,
they are often lost. In the first year of university, students are experiencing so much more
freedom than they are used to. This adds pressure and as a result, not all individuals in these
situations know how to cope. In university, there are certain guidelines and expectations. This
falls into altruistic suicide. You are told as a student that you have to reach a certain GPA, be
involved in clubs and sports and have a job. This is over involvement and as a result students can
become easily overwhelmed with the expectations of school. Lastly, Durkheim discusses anomic
suicide, which can be applied to the confusion and lack of social direction as new students come
into the new community of university. Additionally, students have left their family, which has acted
as a community, and have been placed in an institution much how Durkheim was explaining. There
is more likely to be moral confusion and with a lack of direction, students have the ability to make
bad decisions. The idea of failure is hugely stigmatized in university students and can be seen as
something university students fear the most. Being afraid of failure or not knowing what path to
take or what direction of job you should

Lupus Informative Speech Essay
Lupus is known as the cruel mystery in the world of disease/medicine. 1.5 million Americans are
currently diagnosed with Lupus, with the number possibly being a lot higher since it is one of the
most difficult diseases to diagnose in the WORLD (5 Million some form of Lupus)
B.Relevance: You might ask why should I care? How does this affect me or what is it exactly?
Well the truth is that most people don t realize they have Lupus. It so difficult to diagnose it is
know as the great imitator since it resembles a variety of other diseases.

3.Let me remind you that although these different types sound different, they all have the same
painful symptoms. It s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of Lupus, because even healthy people
experience these symptoms.
Transition to 2nd main point: Now that we ve talked about what Lupus is and its different types,
now we re going to talk about its causes and symptoms. (Point #2)
B.Point #2: Sometimes the symptoms of Lupus help narrow down the possibility of whether one
has Lupus or not because there is not one single, sure fire cause of Lupus that is known.
1.Most experts can agree that there are a number of factors that cause it; the causes of Lupus are
from a combination of genetics and the environment. Sometimes people inherit what is called a
genetic predisposition which means that they inherit the chance to eventually develop it. It is very
hard to pinpoint one single source of cause that triggers Lupus like I mentioned before. Things in
the environment like UV rays from the sun, or unrelated things like an infection or a pregnancy can
trigger it. The symptoms of Lupus range from Extreme fatigue, headaches, photosensitivity, pain
/swollen joints, and one clear indicator being a butterfly shaped rash across the cheek or nose.

The Murder And Serial Killers
Okay, so when I was 18 years old, I worked at a department store as an overnight stock boy . I
practically slept during the day and woke up to go to work at night. However, right before heading
out to work, I remember watching late night reruns of the shows Forensic Files and Cold Case Files.
I don t know why but they kept me startled and entertained until I left for work. Since then for some
odd reason I ve found murderers and serial killers very enthralling. Particularly, from the very start, I
became more interested in the motives that caused those high profile murders, rather than the
murderers themselves.
From watching so much Forensic files, I ve seen all the successful acts of murder and the fails from
some of the world s most notorious killers. So, instead of keeping all this interesting knowledge
secluded, I ve decided to splurge out 13 great tips for killing someone and not getting caught.
Ready?
ALWAYS use Oxygen bleach to clean up evidence of blood. This is the worst enemy of any
forensic investigator and a serial killer s best friend. Interestingly, oxygen bleach is a substance,
that once used to clean up blood stains, will not leave any traces of blood or hemoglobin cells.
This means, when the investigators whip out the luminol to probe the scene for blood traces, your
ass will be covered.
NEVER use a mobile phone. Making a phone call or sending text messages during murder time is a
big NO! Nowadays, cell phone data of any kind can be easily

Generally, individuals tend to stereotype without even realizing they are doing so. Protest are
supposed to give a message out so that the individuals voices are heard. Police brutality is an issue
and should be dealt with caution, but the way the Dallas protest ended is not the way to get a
message across to other individuals. Officer s should learn how to use proper procedures when
arresting an individual. At the end of the day violence does not solve the situations dealing with
injustice. The concepts used for this paper reflects how police brutality is due to racism,
stereotyping, discrimination, and prejudice if an individual loses their life in the hands of an
officer the officer should be served with justice and pay the consequences for not using proper
procedures. Knowing the meaning of these concepts helped me have a better view on the protest
and why it took place. It also helped with the outcome of the protest as the shooter racially profiled
Caucasian citizens and officers to harm them. Though he did not consider how his actions would

Longhorn Steakhouse History
LongHorn Steakhouse
It all started with a man by the name of George McKerrow Jr, who had a passion for delicious
steaks. Luckily he had a snowstorm hit his hometown in Atlanta, Georgia that brought stranded
motorist into the only hospitable place available a restaurant called LongHorn Steaks Restaurant
Saloon. The tales of the expertly grilled steak was spread like a wildfire throughout the towns. This
was the beginning of a new chain restaurant called LongHorn Steakhouse, which is known for their
Flo s Filet and the Bone In Outlaw, fall of the bone ribs, and hand cut salmon. In later years,
LongHorn eventually joined Darden Restaurants with Olive Garden and Red Lobster. With a
location in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it is one of many steakhouses that you can choose
from. It is a well organized restaurant that has been serving steak, chicken, and fish for 30 years
where the meat is never frozen. In addition to that, it is the only steakhouse that catches the eyes of
the customer, usually from the dark red lights that light up during the night. The restaurant is
opened Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Friday to Saturday 11:00 to 11:00 PM.
As we walk through the double doors of the entrance, we are warmly greeted right away by the
LongHorn Staff, who are dressed in black tops and blue jeans. We had dinner at Longhorn after
discovering a 30 minute wait at our first restaurant choice. The wait at Longhorn was only about 15
minutes, which was not bad for a

Home Of Home Essay
Family is defined differently for everyone. Family members can live down the street or in
another country. Some people have close knit families while others do not. Similarly, home is
also defined differently for everyone. Some people might believe that home is just the house
they live in, and with each move comes a new home. Others, however, believe that home is
where their family is. People use family as a way to define home in slightly different ways. For
example, in her essay On Going Home, Joan Didion writes about wanting to give her daughter
home for her birthday. Didion describes her home as being where her family is. In his essay,
Coming Home Again, Chang Rae Lee uses his mother as a way of defining his home. In the third...

While her husband does not understand many things her family talks about or why they talk
about the particular things they do, Didion is most comfortable talking about such things when
she is home with her family. Toward the end of the essay Didion writes about her daughter, I
would like to promise her that she will grow up with a sense of her cousins and of rivers and of
her great grandmother s teacups... I would like to give her home for her birthday, but we live
differently now and I can promise her nothing like that (Didion 3). Didion wants her daughter to
grow up with the same sense of home and family that she did, along with the same sentimental
values. However, because her daughter will grow up in a different time and place than Didion
did, it is unlikely that she will grow up with the same experiences. In Chang Rae Lee s Coming
Home Again, he discreetly uses his mother as a way of defining home. Lee uses various fond
memories of his mother to illustrate the childhood he had before he went to school away from
home at Exeter. He writes, When I was six or seven years old, I used to watch my mother as she
prepared our favorite meals (Lee 4). In another flashback he states, My mother could whip up most
anything, but during our first years of living in this

Porter s Five Forces Framework Essay
The Five Forces Framework and Competitive Strategy
In this framework due to Michael Porter there are two high level stages in the creation of
competitive strategy, each stage corresponding to a high level determinant of profitability
mentioned in the previous section. The first stage is the assessment of the attractiveness of the
industry in which a given company is embedded based on a structural analysis of the industry. In
this stage, called the five forces framework, five forces that influence industry attractiveness are
identified, as well as the factors (e.g., number of competitors, size of competitors, capital
requirements) that determine the intensity of each force and therefore the cumulative intensity of
the five forces. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the (conventional) personal computer (PC) industry would include PC
manufacturers like Dell and Apple, suppliers of semiconductor chips like Intel and Micron,
suppliers of disc drives like Seagate, suppliers of software such as Microsoft, etc. Substitute
products could be pen based tablet PCs or small hand held personal digital assistants (PDAs). In
the five forces framework described below, manufacturers and producers will be designated as (1)
competitors in the industry if they already have established products, or (2) new entrants if they are
trying to enter the industry, or (3) substitutes, if they provide alternative (substitute) products. The
term market denotes the buyers (or customers) of the product or service. For example, the market
for PCs would include enterprises and individual consumers.
The analytical process of strategy analysis and creation can be decomposed into the following five
steps.
1. Create a map of the industry in which the technology company is embedded.
There are five key sets of players that constitute the business landscape: competitors, new entrants,
substitutes, suppliers, and buyers. Identify key players (companies) for each industry.

The ancient Egyptians had specific views on the afterlife, which they showed in their art and
architectural work. They are noted for their extensive beliefs regarding the soul of the dead that
they would spend time and effort in constructing quality funerary objects. Funerary objects of
which those who were alive would be conscious of, especially since the objects were involved in

Short Story Of Where The Red Fern Grows
A story about an adventurous kid his hounds hunting, winning competitions and facing death
In the beginning of the story Where The Red Fern Grows a boy named Billy saw a group of dogs
fighting on the street. Billy stopped the dogs from fighting and noticed a red hound all beat up. He
took the hound home, fed him, washed him, and released him. This made him remember his old
days of owning a hound.
When Billy was 10 he wanted two hunting hounds but his family couldn t afford it. Billy had a
sickness called puppy love so he couldn t help asking for puppies. One day he saved and worked
for his money to get two puppy hounds. He named the dogs Old Dan and Little Ann. Billy and
his dogs had so many adventures of hunting racoons. Billy once caught a ghost racoon that has
never been caught before all thanks to his dogs. Billy s dogs help him become a coon hunting
expert! The dogs would never let a coon go even if it was a stormy night. Old Dan and Little Ann
were Billy s best friends. They would always stick together and never leave each other.
One day Billy s grandfather signed him up for a racoon hunting competition. Billy was super
excited and his dogs were too. Papa, grandpa, and the hounds all went hunting with Billy. They
all stayed at a campsite and ate their breakfast. That morning Billy got his first cup of coffee. It
made him feel older and excited to have his very first cup of coffee. After breakfast, Billy and his

stand when he heard they were running eight mixers at once and he was impressed by how
rapidly customers were served. So he became Dick and Mac McDonald business partner and
opened his first McDonald restaurant (Entrepreneur, 2015).When McDonalds started, they only
had nine items on their menu but Ray Kroc decided to innovate and start creating diversity of
different sandwiches. Hence he decided to follow Peter Ducker s theory Make what you can sell

This essay will argue that for this organization to stay successful it should find the solutions for it s

and finally employ the right promotional tools in order to further promote it s brand.

Therefore, the solution can be found by using business models or creativity. Starting with the

food chains because of health concerns such as cholesterol, cardiovascular and obesity issues but
the corporation can overcome it because it pays taxes and offers jobs opportunity so it s helping

offering a lot of jobs in emergent countries who have high unemployment rate and selling low price
food that people can afford. Socially, McDonald s tries its best to have an integrated menu in each

Examples Of Magical Transformation In The Little Mermaid
The theme of transformation is very common in folk tales and fairy tales and has been a very
prominent motif throughout literary history. Hans Christian Andersen uses magical transformations
in several of his tales, most famously perhaps in The Little Mermaid , but also in stories like The
Wild Swans . This essay will focus on these two tales and discuss how they show magical
transformation as a means of giving hope and redemption. Magical transformation has been a key
motif in storytelling for thousands of years. The transformation is usually from human to

Dante And The Nature Of Sin
Dante and the Nature of Sin
Often, we cannot see the good until we have experienced the bad. Dante Alighieri, a poet who
makes himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the
start of The Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is
forced to take an alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s
voyage is bright and hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians
to hope for a successful end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand
the nature of sin and its consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory
representing that of the repenting Christian soul. Before Virgil arrives to guide Dante on his
journey, Dante shares that he doesn t recall how he lost his way. He tells How I entered [the
dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving
the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12). Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself
lost and trying to find his way back on the right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself
from the dark wood of confusion and chaos. Looking up from the wood, Dante sees the hilltop
shawled in morning rays of light sent from the planet that leads men straight ahead on every road
(Inferno I.16 18). Dante begins to move towards the light, but is blocked from passing by three

A topic of debate in recent history is the reasoning behind the Japanese overly brutal violence
towards the Chinese during the massacre at Nanjing. The prevailing theory is that the Japanese saw
the Chinese as an inferior race, or Chancorro (sub human) thus, killing Chinese held no great
significance. Chinese soldiers were not the only targets for the brutality, innocent Chinese citizens
were treated with the same violence. Chinese men were used for bayonet practice, as well as in

Serbia To Blame For World War One
Serbia holds the majority of the immediate blame for World War One breaking out while the
majority of countries and empires were to blame for the underlying causes of the outbreak. The
agreement of the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand between the Serbian government and
Gavrilo Princip was the greatest fundamental cause of Serbia being blamed for the outbreak of
war. However, the assassination of one man and his wife was not great enough to start the most
heavily weighted war that the world had ever seen. This is because the tensions had been rising due

Why Procedural Programming Is Important Part Of Our Daily...
Introduction When we started programming (our generation) we started with C. Object oriented
languages like Java were thought later. Even when we switched to Java or C++ we still never
really focussed on object oriented concepts and used procedural style in most places to complete
the tasks and assignments. Firstly procedural programming is easy to understand and implement
and quicker. To achieve simple tasks it was the way to go. Imagine having to import so many
namespaces and declaring a class and then a main method to just print hello world. The shift
seemed quite hard and didnt make much sense at that point. As we progressed over a period of

Measurements actually give a clear picture if things have actually improved after changes being
made. Quantifying is easy and can be done but qualifying these is more important as that will
give meaning and weightage to our measurements. Measuring something that s unmeasurable
helps us improve our understanding of the attributes involved and the overall process in general
You cannot control what you cannot measure De Marco, 1982 What is not measurable, make

in some cases just the measurements itself is not useful. For e.g. taking your blood pressure or

The Relief and Intaglio Printmaking Process
Describe the Relief Printmaking process. List an artist who uses the form of printmaking. Refer to
this video for more information.
The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of
material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the
form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is
shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been
transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut
Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of
wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my
opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video
showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the
ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the
reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist
who uses this printmaking process. Another artist who uses Relief Printmaking is Katsushika
Hokusai. Hokusai used the same process to create his color woodcut piece called South Wind,
Clear Sky , a portrayal of Mount Fuji. Describe the Intaglio Printmaking process. List an artist who
uses this form of printmaking.

However, there are some weak areas, which require proper attention. First is the continuous increase

which requires proper consideration, is the expenses of bad debts and provisions for nonperforming

The Human Brain
Many people do not understand the complexity of the human brain. Just as when one goes to buy a
car they focus on the outside features instead of what is under the hood and how it works. Just as a
car has an engine and other features working the car, the brain has different functions that control
not only your movements, but also the way that you perceive the world. With the brainonly
weighing around three pounds it is known to be the best computer system there is. The brain has to
communicate with the senses and muscles in the body and it does that through neurons. The
neuron transmits the information to different parts of the body and is considered a building block

The peripehal nervous system is broken into two brances which include the somatic nervous system
and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system transmits the messages between
the central nervous system and your sensory organs. It regulates movement, posture and balance. It
contains your sensory and motor neurons. Once messages are transmitted through sensory neurons
our brain can interpret the picture you are seeing in front you you, the food you are tastign and even
a hot flame touching your finger tip. Once the message gets to the CNS it sends messages back
through the motor neuron that controls movements. It has voluntary control. For example, if you
touch a flame, the sensory neuron from your finger tip will send the message that it is hot and your
brain will deliever a message back to move your finger. It happens almost instantly. The other branch
which is the autonomic nervous system controls the internal body processes. You body does these
things automaticallt without having to think about it. Although, you could still have control over
some of the processes, such as breathing. The ANS is broken into two different parts which is the
sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous
system speeds up bodily processes. It is considred an alarm

Social Media And Marketing Essay
Changes in the market and emerging promotional tools
There has been a tremendous amount of change in the global markets in the past few years. This
has predominantly due to the fact that there is a shift in the consumer mindset, consumption
patterns, changes in demography and organizational attitude brought through by advancement in
technology. This has led to a change in marketing strategies and practices across the world.
Marketing thinkers and companies are prompted to frequently re think their strategies and adopt

Observing The Preoperational Stage Essay
Observing the Preoperational Stage This past week I had the opportunity to conduct several
conservation tasks with children at the Rainbow and Rhymes Preschool. I decided to perform
two conservation tasks to each child which are a conservation of number and conservation of
mass. The professor provided us with the scripts for both tasks and I did the best to replicate the
tasks that were described in the book on pages 139 to 141. Based on the readings and class
discussions, I had a hypothesisabout the results of the two tasks that I planned to replicate. I
hypothesized that the older children would be able to perform well on both tasks than the younger
children who would perform well in one task or the other. I believe this because of centration, older

Donatello s Marble Sculpture Of David By Ghiberti
Renaissance art, as with most art, conveys a message about the present beliefs during the
Renaissance age, both religious and secular, through the central themes and form used in the piece.
For instance, Ghiberti s panels on the baptistery doors provide detailed scenes depicting stories
from the Old Testament, which defines the primary theme of this piece and illustrates the religious
beliefs of the Renaissancetime. This piece also displays an immense level of humanism through the
strong sense of realism and naturalism Ghiberti provides. The figures were rendered as being part
of an actual story with their faces expressing obvious emotions. It is also apparent that Ghiberti was

Likewise, Donatello s marble sculpture of David also possesses a religious theme, as it depicts the
biblical figure David and portrays his youthful courage and triumph over his enemies. This in itself

Cyber Malware Programs And The Internet
With the increase in usage of internet in recent time, cases of security breaches, threats and
malware etc. have also increased. One of the major issues in using internet is getting the system
infected with malware downloaded from internet. The malicious programs could be threat at
different levels i.e. from displaying a simple message to making a huge system useless. There are
various types of malwares such as virus, Trojan horses, worms, spyware and adware etc.
Sometimes, internet route is used to infect systems with these malicious programs by embedding
malwarewith useful programs, emailing malicious programs and various other ways to infect
system through internet.
However, increasing malicious programs also led to increase in anti malware programs to be
developed by various companies like AVG, Kaspersky, Norton and Microsoft securityessentials etc.
Apart from the anti malware programs that could stop malwares from infecting the system or clean
the system if already infected, there are some ways to stop malicious programs from being
downloaded from internet at the first place. For example, firewalls are often used to ensure that any
malicious program should not be downloaded from the internet.

Mayan Creation Myths
Different cultures have different beliefs and values. In this paper, I will speak about two different
cultures and their creation myths. There are different myths floating around within each culture that
explain the creation of human, earth and animals. The two I have chosen is The Old Testament
Creation and The Mayans Creation. The Old Testament Creation is very common amongst
individuals today. This Creation involves Adam and Eve. The Mayans creation went through a series
of changes until the right humans were formed.
The Old Testament creation combines ex nihilo and deus faber motifs. God created the heavens and

These myths shape the way people live their lives. The main purpose of creation myths in a

why we die, why there is suffering and where we go when we die ( Creation Myth Gantjes , 2004).
If you take the time and look at how religions are linked to the history of creation myths, you ll

Adam disobeyed Gods command. The result from Adam being disobedient, he would have to

Shock, Hemorrhagic And Non Hemorrhagic
Shock is described as a state of hypoperfusion of the organs and tissues, which results in cellular
dysfunction and cell death. There are many varieties of shock, but for the purpose of this essay I
will focus on hypovolemic shock. The term hypovolemic means low volume; this term in and of
itself tells us what the root cause of this form of shock is, low bloodvolume. There are two
different types of hypovolemic shock, hemorrhagic and non hemorrhagic. I will be discussing the
possible causes, signs, symptoms, and treatment options for the hemorrhagic type. I will also
explain what health care providers in the field should be looking for to determine whether the
patient is in a state of compensated or decompensating shock. Compensated shock is when the body
is using all of it s resources to maintain perfusion but in the later stages of shock the patient will
decompensate, this is when the body s attempts at maintaining perfusion are beginning to fail.
Recognizing the signs and symptoms of hypovolemic shock early is vitally important! The first
thing that emergency medical providers should remember is that just because you can t see bleeding
does not mean it is not there. Hemorrhagic shock can be missed if the care provider is
hyperfocused on symptoms like low blood pressure, which only becomes evident after the patient
has already started de compensating. A symptom that can be seen earlier on, while the patient is
still in a compensated state is decreased

Aztec Beliefs On Death And The Afterlife
Aztec view of the afterlife and its significance was the driving force of their life. Aztecs strongly
believed in an afterlife. The journey to the afterlife entailed many things. It was believed that the
way you died decided how your afterlife would go, not the way you lived. If you didn t die in the
specific ways which sent you to specific gods, you would go through the nine levels hell; in the
ninth you would serve for eternity. They are not places of bliss or damnation, merely multiple
levels of existence divided in purpose.

The Arab Spring During The Middle East And North African...
The Arab Spring brought revolutionary changes to the Middle East and North African region s
authoritarian republics while bypassing its autocratic monarchies. The monarchical exceptionalism
that has allowed these states to remain intact is due to a set of three overlapping factors crosscutting
coalitions, hydrocarbon rents, and foreign patronage. Collectively, these factors explain why most
of the royal autocracies never experienced widespread protest.
The eight Arab monarchies Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states of Bahrain,
Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE hold near absolute power. According to the Gause article, none
of the states qualify as constitutional kingships in which the enthroned incumbent exercises only
ceremonial influence while an elected parliamentary government makes policy. The region s kings
and emirs not only reign but they also rule. They are the lead decision makers in naming cabinets,
determining major domestic and foreign policies, controlling the state s coercive apparatus, and
allowing parliaments and judiciaries limited authority (Gause). According to Gause, the first
element of the strategic explanation for monarchical exceptionalism is one that links the historical
legacy of domestic choices with a permissive international environment. The majority of the
monarchies have used the tool of crosscutting coalitions thereby linking alliances of different social
constituencies to the ruling family. In general, dictators cannot

Arguments Against Dinosaurs
Argument 1
It is said that there has been rare and precious Dinosaur bones discovered in the Eromanga sea,
this almost proves that Dinosaurs once roamed around the shores. Also many of the significant
events in Geological history, over the past 600 million years can be observed at Hallett Cove.
Some of the oldest rocks have been found in these seas. The finding of the Ediacaran could
potentially mean that there can be dinosaur fossils found in the ocean, or even that relatives of the
ediacaran could be considered fossils and could be found in the sea.

Taking a Look at Greece
Research Paper Greece
Greece is a thriving country, but if it wasn t for its beautiful islands, seas, and mountains, Greece
would not be as strong of a country today. All these factors have helped Greece grow as a country.
Throughout history, various mountains such as Mount Olympus and seas such as the
Mediterranean have played an important role in the development of Greece history and culture.
Greece is a country that is surrounded by mostly water, and the sea has played an important role in
its history ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). The ancient Greeks were often known to be called
seafarers looking for opportunities for trade and founding new coastal sites along the Mediterranean
sea. Trading stations were the furthest outposts of Greek culture. At these trading stations, Greek
goods, such as bronze, silver, olive oil, wine and pottery were exchanged for more luxurious items
( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Also, well established maritime routes around the Mediterranean
sea enabled foreigners to travel to Greece. After the military campaign of Alexander the Great, a
lot more intense trade routes were opened across Asia. These trade routes extended as far as
Afghanistan and the Indus River Valley ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). Not only did these trade
routes help with trading goods, it always helped in introducing Greece to new cultures and in
spreading Greek culture throughout Europe. The spread of these cultures can be known as cultural
diffusion

Character Analysis Of Mae West s She Done Him Wrong
Novelist, playwright, and producer are all credentials that are a part of Mae West s career, but it
is not what comes to mind when looking back on the Hollywood starlet s career. From Marilyn
Monroe to Anna Faris, Mae West is one of the first Hollywood starlets who took control of her
public image and is known as a pop culture icon. She is the inspiration for Dali s Face of Mae
West. Dali shows interest in the construction of her public image as an actress and celebrity
(Evans, 107). Mae West is a part of Hollywood s Pre Code era. Her combination of provocative
humor and playing the voluptuous blonde role, Mae West uses her public image to dominate
Hollywood s patriarchal institution. The 1933 film, She Done Him Wrong is an American
comedy starring Mae West and Cary Grant. The film is originally a play West wrote in 1928,
but due to censorship and ticket sales many of her plays productions were shut down. Although
she is not given credit as screenwriter, West continuously kept writing and re writing her material
so the adaptation of the play would work as film. Unlike many Hollywood starlets, production
companies were not hiring West to play specific roles in their films to bring in audiences, but
West was writing scripts and creating characters to play roles she knew audiences would want to
see (Evans, 108). I became a writer by the accident of needing material and having no place to get
it (West, 72). With the combination of taking creative control and her blonde

Situation Analysis
Environment
The economic environment from 1982 to 1990 was the age of new technology. During this time
there were many new companies emerging in the computer industry, trying to find a niche market.
The economy was trending towards a large increase on economic wealth and very low
unemployment rates. The culture was starting to embrace the idea of computer technology and the
idea of networking.
Industry
The industry in which Sun Microsystems is competing in is computer workstations for scientists,
engineers, and commercial companies. Sun s founder s believed there was demand for a desktop
computer workstation costing between $10,000 and $20,000 in a market niche, ignored by
minicomputer makers such as, IBM, Data General, Dec, and Hewlett Packard. Sun s executives
believed that they would only have a short time in this market before the other large companies
decided to enter, because it was an exclusive market with a high entry barrier, but with opportunity
for extensive profitability.
The workstation market for engineers and scientists was rapidly becoming saturated. The company
is now concentrating more of its efforts on airlines, banks, insurance, financial companies, and other
commercial companies, trying to persuade users to utilize Sun workstations to solve new problems.
Sun had to change their product design to make its machines easier to install, and improve the
understandability of product manuals. As Sun

My Life In College
Life is a winding road that goes through mountains and over water, but also through mud, ice, and
snow. What I mean by that is that life is something very short, filled with beautiful moments as
well as dark and disturbing ones (well, if we are being technical, life is the longest thing any of us
will experience). One moment that nobody can seem to decide which category it belongs in, is
college. College for some people can be this once in a lifetime experience that creates friendship,
memories, and everlasting knowledge. While for others it is absolute misery and stress.
Regardless of all of that, college is an incredibly tough decision that comes down to intelligence,
money, and future careers. All of which are choices of which many people fear to make in life.
Bowling Green and Findlay Universityboth seem to be very sound and reasonable choices;
however, Bowling Green looks to be the better choicedue to costs and their business programs. As
for Bowling Green, which is my first choice, was actually the second college I had visited. It had
a massive campus, well, at least compared to what I expected. It had hundreds of dorms and
plenty of faculty to go around for the students. Needless to say that during that first visit, I was
blown away and beyond impressed with everything I saw. So after looking more into it, there are
definitely a lot of different reasons that I was even more inclined to go there. The first thing I
looked at was the tuition, which was a surprising

The American Psychological Association Defines Gender...
Gender
James Gadoury
January 12, 2015
Professor Cormier
English 101
The American Psychological Association defines gender identity as one s sense of oneself as male,
female, or transgender ( Definition of Terms: Sex, Gender, Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation 1).
Our culture greatly affects our gender identity, and this can be seen through how our media
displays men, women, and transgenders. The media is a reflection of the values that are held in
American culture and can be used to enact social reform, or to keep the same old values alive and
well. In Gendered Media: The Influence of Media on Views of Gender , Wood writes: ...media
insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. All forms of media communicate
images of the sexes, many of which perpetuate unrealistic, stereotypical, and limiting perceptions.
(1) This illustrates just how influential the media can be in American culture. Many people
immediately internalize everything they hear from any source that they see as trustworthy. If the
media is filled with negative gender stereotypes, then Americans are at risk of internalizing negative
gender roles. In the same journal, Woods also explains the three main ways that media influences
gender identity:
Three themes describe how media represent gender. First, women are underrepresented which
falsely implies that men are the cultural standard and women are unimportant or invisible. Second,
men and women are portrayed in stereotypical

Shakespeare’s Brilliant Use of Symbolism
To be or not to be that is the question (Kittredge, 993). This is one of William Shakespeare s best
known and used quotes. Many who use it do not even know what piece it is taken from, or what
exactly it means. It just sounds like a cool, tragic, Shakespearean quote to use to sound more
intelligent. And that is the sad truth. Shakespeare s works are filled with quotes, soliloquies, and
experts, like this one, that are filled with innuendos, imagery, word choice, etc. One very
important literary technique used by Shakespeare, in all of his works, is his symbolism, which
portrayed Shakespeare s life, time period, and messages he wished to get across to his audience.
He also used his symbolism to satirize whomever he wished. Shakespeare s... Show more content on

(Act III, Scene I, ll 56 69).
Hamlet s uncertainty of death is felt throughout this entire soliloquy. Later in it he says, But that
the dread of something after death, The undiscover d country from whose bourn No traveler
returns, puzzles the will, And makes us rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others that we
know not of? (Act II, Scene I, ll 78 82).
In this expert the traveler and the undiscovered country symbolizes someone traveling in death
onto the unknown after life. This entire soliloquy symbolizes Hamlet s uncertainties of death.
One other example of symbolism that is used in Hamlet is a serpent. The serpent, which Hamlet
s father s ghost refers his uncle to, represents the evil and deceit that the uncle used to get the
crown. A serpent, many times in literature, represents something that is secretive, evil, and
tempting, just as Lucifer, in the form of a serpent was in the garden of Eden. Now the serpent
was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made (Genesis 3:1). The ghost of
Hamlet s father says of his uncle, Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard, A serpent stung me.
So the whole ear of Denmark Is by a forged process of my death Rankly abus d. But know, thou
noble youth, The serpent that did sting thy father s life Now wears his crown. (Act I, Scene V, ll

And just as the serpent tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden, Hamlet s uncle tempted his mother and

China s Effect On Child Labor
Imagine a twelve year old child getting up every morning going to work in a factory instead of
going to school to get an education. Yes this is the reality in China for many young children.
While here is the US many children at the age of 12 are in elementary school, children in China
are working in factory industries making toys and other goods to export out to the US and other
countries. For years, China has engaged in the use of child labor, wagelevels below international
standards, and unsafe ergonomic conditions.
Some facts about China is that they are a communist country and currently the president of China
is Xi Jinping. They have the largest population of people in the world with more than 1.3 billion
people. There was a one child policy per couple in effect and that policy has recently been
amended. A few of their major cities like Dogguan, and Tianjin have been found guilty of child
labor abuse (Asianhistory.About, 2014).
China entered the WTO in December 2001. It had been a long process of negations with the
WTO formerly the GATT. For China this was a big step. The process took about 15 years before
China was accessioned into the WTO. According to an article Free trade it took this long mainly
due to getting the country s politics and policy making process to produce conditions that would
allow them to submit a bid into the WTO and eventually become part of the WTO (Harold, 2008).
Once China became part of the WTO they have tremendous economic growth.

Child Observation
1.How do you collect information about the children and their interests? You collect this by
observing the children. Observations can be overt (everyone knows they are being observed) or
covert (no one knows they are being observed and the observer is concealed). ( Data Collection
Methods for Program Evaluation: Observation, 2008) Mainly you want to watch the children in
their environment and then take detailed notes without being objective. You also want to have
what you would like answered before doing the observations. For example based on this question
we want to know what the children are interested in, so through observation we can see what they
play with mostly. If they are in blocks do they may play with cars and then in home living they
may be acting like they are driving in a car. This would show us that this child is interested in cars.
2.What tools do you use? Some tools you could use is anecdotal notes, class list log and time

appropriate environments for the infants/toddlers in your care? I would first need to collect all
of my sources of observation. Whether that is an anecdotal note, participation chart or a rating
scale. Then I need to reflect on all of this information. Reflection is the process you use to look
for patterns in what you see. You may see a pattern in how a child continuously uses a specific
skill. ( Assessment Strategies 02 Effective Observation, n.d.) Then I would use this information to
plan individual activities for specific child. I would make a plan about how best to share
observational data with my parents. I would also see if the furniture in the classroom needed to be

The Fairytales We Know Today Came About In Our World
The Romanticism Era
How did the fairytales we know today came about in our world? Years ago, the Era of
Romanticism was started by men and women who let their imagination take them away from a
world where religion and politics dominated. Nature became the root of their ideas and literature
was glorified like a religion. The human spirit was examined in their eyes and they formed stories
that intrigued the people in that time period. The origin of the literary movement, the lifestyle, and
the literary art of the Romantic Era still affect us in some way or another.
The romantic literary movement is a time period from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s.
Romanticism took place as an effect to the frustration people felt with the ideas after the French
Revolution of 1789. The literary movement is focused on passion rather than a reason, and
imagination overruled logic. Romanticism was built on the expression of the emotions such as
love, jealousy, compassion, etc. Romantics yearn for the infinite and viewed nature as a free spirit
that had no restraint or order. Which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romantics were tired of rules imposed by society and suppressed ideas that limited their freedom.
They let their thoughts roam freely and decided that the only thing pure and real in the world was
nature. Nature became the foundation of all the new works of art . Throughout this time period
poetry was also changed and a new style emerged, a style in which everyday language was used but
remained fundamentally poetic. All of these changes ultimately brought society a new way of
seeing folktales and the magical world. In conclusion, the Romantic Era brought people to question
the conventions put before them and develop ideas of liberty. Ideas that tied to being alone with
nature and letting the imagination flow with new perspectives of

Persuasive Essay On Off Campus Lunch
Senior High school students should be allowed to leave campus for lunch on the days they
choose only if they have the majority of their high school credits and maintain a GPA higher
than 3.5. If a high school student, that is a senior, maintains a GPA of 3.5 wants the leave
campus for lunch they should be allowed to exit the campus at least 3 days of the week. In order
for the senior to leave campus, he or she must first sign out from the office when they leave and
sign again when they return back to campus. The GPA rule will be very affective as it will
eliminate any bad or problem causing kids which do not take schoolserious, from leaving the
campus. There are always some kids who will try and take advantage of the system and see how
much they can get away with and this system will hopefully keep those kids in school remaining
on campus. Even with this system, there may be some seniors who take advantage of this
privilege and abuse it to where it will be taken away from the other seniors. Again this will
hopefully be avoided as the kids should realize they re seniors, not freshmen and should act
accordingly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without this part of the system kids could just leave freely without return. The sign in part of the
off campus lunch system will most likely aid in the assistance of this problem. When a student who
meets the requirements wishes to leave campus for lunch, they must first sign out in the office on a
designated sign out sheet. When the student returns, they will again sign in but this time on a sign
in sheet rather than a sign out. Whichever teacher is in charge of the kids leaving will check who
has left and who has returned. For students who do not return, will be counted as skipping and will

Why Is Augustus Caesar Important To The Roman Revolution
To understand Augustus Caesar, it is important to have a glimpse of the Roman Revolution. During
this time, violence and intimidation dominated the government. Generals used their power to
extract money from the locals to fund their political ambitions. Julius Caesar gained the support of
his army and virtually became a dictator in Rome. Though he accomplished many reforms, he was
strongly opposed by the Senate and in 44 BC he was assassinated by conspirators among them. At
this juncture, Augustusthe chief heir of Julius Caesar, entered Rome s political arena. Augustus was
born on September 24, 63 BC, as Gaius Octavius Thurinus in Rome, nicknamed Octavius. His
father was Gaius Octavius, a governor and a senator in the Roman Republic. His mother was
Atia, the daughter of Julia, Julius Caesar s sister. His father died when he was only four years
old, thus young Octavius was adopted by his uncle Julius Caesar. This family link between Julius
Caesar and young Octavius played a determinative role in shaping the rest of Octavius s life. His
grandmother Julia greatly influenced his life. It was Octavian s first public appearance when he
delivered his grandmother s eulogy at her funeral.
Augustus was of short stature, but exceedingly handsome. He was well proportioned and who had

  • 2. How Did Emile Durkheim Characterize Suicide Introduction The primary source that will be discussed in this paper is Suicide written by Emile Durkheim. Durkheim was a French sociologist who was most famous in the 19th and 20th century for his work on the structure of society. During the time of his writings, he analyzed different social institutions and the roles in which they play in society. As a result, his work was associated with the theoretical framework of structural functionalism. The 19th century was most known for the Industrial Revolution. This is evident in Durkheim s writing in Suicide. Suicide The intent of Durkheim s writing was to discover why there was such an increase of suicide rates as nations became industrialized and consumer capitalism became dominant. Durkheim s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Coming into a big school and leaving everything you know, often leads individuals to feel overwhelmed and stressed. Additionally, when these individuals feel as though they do not fit in, they are often lost. In the first year of university, students are experiencing so much more freedom than they are used to. This adds pressure and as a result, not all individuals in these situations know how to cope. In university, there are certain guidelines and expectations. This falls into altruistic suicide. You are told as a student that you have to reach a certain GPA, be involved in clubs and sports and have a job. This is over involvement and as a result students can become easily overwhelmed with the expectations of school. Lastly, Durkheim discusses anomic suicide, which can be applied to the confusion and lack of social direction as new students come into the new community of university. Additionally, students have left their family, which has acted as a community, and have been placed in an institution much how Durkheim was explaining. There is more likely to be moral confusion and with a lack of direction, students have the ability to make bad decisions. The idea of failure is hugely stigmatized in university students and can be seen as something university students fear the most. Being afraid of failure or not knowing what path to take or what direction of job you should ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of Lupus, because even healthy people experience these symptoms. Transition to 2nd main point: Now that we ve talked about what Lupus is and its different types, now we re going to talk about its causes and symptoms. (Point #2) B.Point #2: Sometimes the symptoms of Lupus help narrow down the possibility of whether one has Lupus or not because there is not one single, sure fire cause of Lupus that is known. 1.Most experts can agree that there are a number of factors that cause it; the causes of Lupus are from a combination of genetics and the environment. Sometimes people inherit what is called a genetic predisposition which means that they inherit the chance to eventually develop it. It is very hard to pinpoint one single source of cause that triggers Lupus like I mentioned before. Things in the environment like UV rays from the sun, or unrelated things like an infection or a pregnancy can trigger it. The symptoms of Lupus range from Extreme fatigue, headaches, photosensitivity, pain /swollen joints, and one clear indicator being a butterfly shaped rash across the cheek or nose. 2.Makover, M. • 4. The Murder And Serial Killers Okay, so when I was 18 years old, I worked at a department store as an overnight stock boy . I practically slept during the day and woke up to go to work at night. However, right before heading out to work, I remember watching late night reruns of the shows Forensic Files and Cold Case Files. I don t know why but they kept me startled and entertained until I left for work. Since then for some odd reason I ve found murderers and serial killers very enthralling. Particularly, from the very start, I became more interested in the motives that caused those high profile murders, rather than the murderers themselves. From watching so much Forensic files, I ve seen all the successful acts of murder and the fails from some of the world s most notorious killers. So, instead of keeping all this interesting knowledge secluded, I ve decided to splurge out 13 great tips for killing someone and not getting caught. Ready? ALWAYS use Oxygen bleach to clean up evidence of blood. This is the worst enemy of any forensic investigator and a serial killer s best friend. Interestingly, oxygen bleach is a substance, that once used to clean up blood stains, will not leave any traces of blood or hemoglobin cells. This means, when the investigators whip out the luminol to probe the scene for blood traces, your ass will be covered. NEVER use a mobile phone. Making a phone call or sending text messages during murder time is a big NO! Nowadays, cell phone data of any kind can be easily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Generally, individuals tend to stereotype without even realizing they are doing so. Protest are supposed to give a message out so that the individuals voices are heard. Police brutality is an issue and should be dealt with caution, but the way the Dallas protest ended is not the way to get a message across to other individuals. Officer s should learn how to use proper procedures when arresting an individual. At the end of the day violence does not solve the situations dealing with injustice. The concepts used for this paper reflects how police brutality is due to racism, stereotyping, discrimination, and prejudice if an individual loses their life in the hands of an officer the officer should be served with justice and pay the consequences for not using proper procedures. Knowing the meaning of these concepts helped me have a better view on the protest and why it took place. It also helped with the outcome of the protest as the shooter racially profiled Caucasian citizens and officers to harm them. Though he did not consider how his actions would affect ... • 6. Longhorn Steakhouse History LongHorn Steakhouse It all started with a man by the name of George McKerrow Jr, who had a passion for delicious steaks. Luckily he had a snowstorm hit his hometown in Atlanta, Georgia that brought stranded motorist into the only hospitable place available a restaurant called LongHorn Steaks Restaurant Saloon. The tales of the expertly grilled steak was spread like a wildfire throughout the towns. This was the beginning of a new chain restaurant called LongHorn Steakhouse, which is known for their Flo s Filet and the Bone In Outlaw, fall of the bone ribs, and hand cut salmon. In later years, LongHorn eventually joined Darden Restaurants with Olive Garden and Red Lobster. With a location in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, it is one of many steakhouses that you can choose from. It is a well organized restaurant that has been serving steak, chicken, and fish for 30 years where the meat is never frozen. In addition to that, it is the only steakhouse that catches the eyes of the customer, usually from the dark red lights that light up during the night. The restaurant is opened Sunday to Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM and Friday to Saturday 11:00 to 11:00 PM. As we walk through the double doors of the entrance, we are warmly greeted right away by the LongHorn Staff, who are dressed in black tops and blue jeans. We had dinner at Longhorn after discovering a 30 minute wait at our first restaurant choice. The wait at Longhorn was only about 15 minutes, which was not bad for a ... • 7. Home Of Home Essay Family is defined differently for everyone. Family members can live down the street or in another country. Some people have close knit families while others do not. Similarly, home is also defined differently for everyone. Some people might believe that home is just the house they live in, and with each move comes a new home. Others, however, believe that home is where their family is. People use family as a way to define home in slightly different ways. For example, in her essay On Going Home, Joan Didion writes about wanting to give her daughter home for her birthday. Didion describes her home as being where her family is. In his essay, Coming Home Again, Chang Rae Lee uses his mother as a way of defining his home. In the third... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While her husband does not understand many things her family talks about or why they talk about the particular things they do, Didion is most comfortable talking about such things when she is home with her family. Toward the end of the essay Didion writes about her daughter, I would like to promise her that she will grow up with a sense of her cousins and of rivers and of her great grandmother s teacups... I would like to give her home for her birthday, but we live differently now and I can promise her nothing like that (Didion 3). Didion wants her daughter to grow up with the same sense of home and family that she did, along with the same sentimental values. However, because her daughter will grow up in a different time and place than Didion did, it is unlikely that she will grow up with the same experiences. In Chang Rae Lee s Coming Home Again, he discreetly uses his mother as a way of defining home. Lee uses various fond memories of his mother to illustrate the childhood he had before he went to school away from home at Exeter. He writes, When I was six or seven years old, I used to watch my mother as she prepared our favorite meals (Lee 4). In another flashback he states, My mother could whip up most anything, but during our first years of living in this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Porter s Five Forces Framework Essay The Five Forces Framework and Competitive Strategy In this framework due to Michael Porter there are two high level stages in the creation of competitive strategy, each stage corresponding to a high level determinant of profitability mentioned in the previous section. The first stage is the assessment of the attractiveness of the industry in which a given company is embedded based on a structural analysis of the industry. Dante Alighieri, a poet who makes himself the main character in his Divine Comedy, finds himself lost in a dark wood at the start of The Inferno. Though he sees a safe path out of the wood towards an alluring light, he is forced to take an alternate route through an even darker place. As the ending of the pilgrim Dante s voyage is bright and hopeful, Alighieri the poet aims to encourage even the most sinful Christians to hope for a successful end. Thus, Dante the pilgrim goes to hell in The Inferno to better understand the nature of sin and its consequences in order to move closer to salvation; his journey an allegory representing that of the repenting Christian soul. He tells How I entered [the dark wood] I cannot truly say, I had become so sleepy at the moment when I first strayed, leaving the path of truth (Inferno I.10 12). Because he strayed from the holy path, Dante finds himself lost and trying to find his way back on the right track. Dante s ultimate goal is to to free himself from the dark wood of confusion and chaos. The Relief Printmaking process is a printmaking process in which someone covers a block of material, such as wood, in ink. Then they proceed to deeply etch out the inked surface in the form of a design. Once that is done, they lay paper over the block with pressure so that the ink is shared generously all over the paper. When the paper is removed, the design will have been transferred and they will have the finished artwork. Using a block of wood is known as Woodcut Relief Printmaking, or Woodcuts . There are also Wood Engravings, where a stronger type of wood is used so an artist can engrave an image into the surface rather than cut it out. In my opinion, the second step of the process could be left to remain as the art itself. In the video showing the process as Lyell Castonguay created his piece, Hydra , I thought the design in the ink coated wood looked more bold and real than the actually piece. But this may only be for the reason that the finished product lacked color in comparison. Of course, Lyell isn t the only artist who uses this printmaking process. This in itself aided in the projection of Florentine beliefs and dreams, both religious and secular, as Florence was often in conflict with other cities. Additionally, this pieces clearly exhibits Donatello s profound understanding of sculptural adornment and classic form through his use of naturalism, which gives the sculpture a sense of liveliness and emotion. Furthermore, the fresco displaying Saint. Peter healing the sick with his shadow, painted inside the Church of Santa Maria del Carmine by Masaccio, shares much of the same theme and reveals similar form as the two previously discussed artworks. Naturally, Masaccio s fresco revolves around the same central theme, religion, as it portrays a portion of the distinguished St. Peter s life and details a specific scene from the Book of Matthew. There are different myths floating around within each culture that explain the creation of human, earth and animals. The two I have chosen is The Old Testament Creation and The Mayans Creation. The Old Testament Creation is very common amongst individuals today. This Creation involves Adam and Eve. The Mayans creation went through a series of changes until the right humans were formed. The Old Testament creation combines ex nihilo and deus faber motifs. God created the heavens and the earth. It took God seven days to complete his creation. • 33. Shock, Hemorrhagic And Non Hemorrhagic Shock is described as a state of hypoperfusion of the organs and tissues, which results in cellular dysfunction and cell death. There are many varieties of shock, but for the purpose of this essay I will focus on hypovolemic shock. The term hypovolemic means low volume; this term in and of itself tells us what the root cause of this form of shock is, low bloodvolume. There are two different types of hypovolemic shock, hemorrhagic and non hemorrhagic. I will be discussing the possible causes, signs, symptoms, and treatment options for the hemorrhagic type. I will also explain what health care providers in the field should be looking for to determine whether the patient is in a state of compensated or decompensating shock. Compensated shock is when the body is using all of it s resources to maintain perfusion but in the later stages of shock the patient will decompensate, this is when the body s attempts at maintaining perfusion are beginning to fail. Recognizing the signs and symptoms of hypovolemic shock early is vitally important! The first thing that emergency medical providers should remember is that just because you can t see bleeding does not mean it is not there. Hemorrhagic shock can be missed if the care provider is hyperfocused on symptoms like low blood pressure, which only becomes evident after the patient has already started de compensating. A symptom that can be seen earlier on, while the patient is still in a compensated state is decreased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The journey to the afterlife entailed many things. It was believed that the way you died decided how your afterlife would go, not the way you lived. If you didn t die in the specific ways which sent you to specific gods, you would go through the nine levels hell; in the ninth you would serve for eternity. • 36. The Arab Spring During The Middle East And North African... The Arab Spring brought revolutionary changes to the Middle East and North African region s authoritarian republics while bypassing its autocratic monarchies. The monarchical exceptionalism that has allowed these states to remain intact is due to a set of three overlapping factors crosscutting coalitions, hydrocarbon rents, and foreign patronage. Collectively, these factors explain why most of the royal autocracies never experienced widespread protest. The eight Arab monarchies Jordan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, and the Persian Gulf states of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE hold near absolute power. According to the Gause article, none of the states qualify as constitutional kingships in which the enthroned incumbent exercises only ceremonial influence while an elected parliamentary government makes policy. The region s kings and emirs not only reign but they also rule. They are the lead decision makers in naming cabinets, determining major domestic and foreign policies, controlling the state s coercive apparatus, and allowing parliaments and judiciaries limited authority (Gause). According to Gause, the first element of the strategic explanation for monarchical exceptionalism is one that links the historical legacy of domestic choices with a permissive international environment. The majority of the monarchies have used the tool of crosscutting coalitions thereby linking alliances of different social constituencies to the ruling family. In general, dictators cannot ... All these factors have helped Greece grow as a country. Throughout history, various mountains such as Mount Olympus and seas such as the Mediterranean have played an important role in the development of Greece history and culture. Greece is a country that is surrounded by mostly water, and the sea has played an important role in its history ( Ancient Greek Colonization.. ). The ancient Greeks were often known to be called seafarers looking for opportunities for trade and founding new coastal sites along the Mediterranean sea. Gender James Gadoury January 12, 2015 Professor Cormier English 101 The American Psychological Association defines gender identity as one s sense of oneself as male, female, or transgender ( Definition of Terms: Sex, Gender, Gender Identity, Sexual Orientation 1). Our culture greatly affects our gender identity, and this can be seen through how our media displays men, women, and transgenders. The media is a reflection of the values that are held in American culture and can be used to enact social reform, or to keep the same old values alive and well. In Gendered Media: The Influence of Media on Views of Gender , Wood writes: ...media insinuate their messages into our consciousness at every turn. All forms of media communicate images of the sexes, many of which perpetuate unrealistic, stereotypical, and limiting perceptions. (1) This illustrates just how influential the media can be in American culture. Many people immediately internalize everything they hear from any source that they see as trustworthy. If the media is filled with negative gender stereotypes, then Americans are at risk of internalizing negative gender roles. In the same journal, Woods also explains the three main ways that media influences gender identity: Three themes describe how media represent gender. First, women are underrepresented which falsely implies that men are the cultural standard and women are unimportant or invisible. Second, men and women are portrayed in stereotypical ... And that is the sad truth. Shakespeare s works are filled with quotes, soliloquies, and experts, like this one, that are filled with innuendos, imagery, word choice, etc. One very important literary technique used by Shakespeare, in all of his works, is his symbolism, which portrayed Shakespeare s life, time period, and messages he wished to get across to his audience. (Act II, Scene I, ll 78 82). In this expert the traveler and the undiscovered country symbolizes someone traveling in death onto the unknown after life. This entire soliloquy symbolizes Hamlet s uncertainties of death. One other example of symbolism that is used in Hamlet is a serpent. The serpent, which Hamlet s father s ghost refers his uncle to, represents the evil and deceit that the uncle used to get the crown. Years ago, the Era of Romanticism was started by men and women who let their imagination take them away from a world where religion and politics dominated. Nature became the root of their ideas and literature was glorified like a religion. The human spirit was examined in their eyes and they formed stories that intrigued the people in that time period. The origin of the literary movement, the lifestyle, and the literary art of the Romantic Era still affect us in some way or another. The romantic literary movement is a time period from the late 1700 s to the mid 1800 s. Romanticism took place as an effect to the frustration people felt with the ideas after the French Revolution of 1789. Romanticism was built on the expression of the emotions such as love, jealousy, compassion, etc. Romantics yearn for the infinite and viewed nature as a free spirit that had no restraint or order. • 53. Persuasive Essay On Off Campus Lunch Senior High school students should be allowed to leave campus for lunch on the days they choose only if they have the majority of their high school credits and maintain a GPA higher than 3.5. If a high school student, that is a senior, maintains a GPA of 3.5 wants the leave campus for lunch they should be allowed to exit the campus at least 3 days of the week. In order for the senior to leave campus, he or she must first sign out from the office when they leave and sign again when they return back to campus. The GPA rule will be very affective as it will eliminate any bad or problem causing kids which do not take schoolserious, from leaving the campus. There are always some kids who will try and take advantage of the system and see how much they can get away with and this system will hopefully keep those kids in school remaining on campus. Even with this system, there may be some seniors who take advantage of this privilege and abuse it to where it will be taken away from the other seniors. Again this will hopefully be avoided as the kids should realize they re seniors, not freshmen and should act accordingly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without this part of the system kids could just leave freely without return. The sign in part of the off campus lunch system will most likely aid in the assistance of this problem. When the student returns, they will again sign in but this time on a sign in sheet rather than a sign out. Whichever teacher is in charge of the kids leaving will check who has left and who has returned. For students who do not return, will be counted as skipping and will deal with the punishment the administrator sees ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
