Work breakdown structure in project management ppt by kiran jIIT delhi
Presentation talks about WBS used in the Project Management, what is WBS? Why is it important? How construction and manufacturing firms utilizing WBS to create value delivery. WBS is an important step in Project Management and it is critical to understand it's concepts.

Part-1: Creating a New Plane
Project Title: Creating a New Plane
A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) lists all project duties. WBS is hierarchical and offers logical, ambiguity-free categorization. Activities or deliverables may define these categories. The WBS must represent the approved work. The project's scope statement should be used to create a timetable and cost estimate. Project managers must construct a WBS before developing a strategy and timeline. Developing a WBS and WBS Dictionary will allow the project team to: 1)gather information on the project's work requirements for creating a new plane, 2)divide operations into smaller portions that will fulfill the project's goals, and 3)design the project so that it is proactive and logical from beginning to end.
Before the project begins, the PM has minimal influence. without specifying project scope. Through scope management, the project manager can design and maintain the scope statement. This statement describes the project manager's deliverables. This phase ensures and communicates to project management that only scope-related activity is done. This step helps complete the work.
Planning
Most firms that use project management make their OPA available to project managers. This, along with a Project Charter and Preliminary Project Scope Statement, will help the PM launch this part of the project. The Project Manager will have a Scope Management Plan after this stage. According to the Scope Management Plan, the PM will document, refine, verify, and oversee the project scope.
Define.
Project scope is next. To define project requirements, the project manager must interview all relevant parties. After understanding the project's stakeholders' needs and expectations, the scope can be established by prioritizing outputs. Discussing some options now may be helpful if they need to be documented later. After completing the scope definition, the project manager should conclude the scope statement. This will help in later project stages when making selections and ensuring everyone knows the project's goals.
Create a WBS.
A well-designed WBS should focus on project deliverables, not tasks (WBS). If you don't use the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as a checklist of activities to do (your project plan will help), you can focus on the WBS's primary purpose: organizing and outlining the project's scope. Work packages should be the foundation of the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). These work bundles should help you estimate the project's cost and timeline.
Verification
In "Scope Verification," you'll win stakeholders' formal approval of your project's scope. To acquire this degree of acceptability, you must often undergo Inspection.
Control
Change Integrated Any project changes require a Control Process (ICCP). During Scope Control, you'll address ever.

Subject :- Project Management
Describe what the WBS is and why you think it\'s important to create one. You have the option
to research the web, textbook etc
Solution
Ans:- A work breakdown structure (WBS), inproject management and systems engineering, is a
deliverable-oriented decomposition of a project into smaller components. A work breakdown
structure is a key project deliverable that organizes the team\'s work into manageable sections.
The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) defines the work breakdown structure
as a \"deliverable oriented hierarchical decomposition of the work to be executed by the project
team.\"
A work breakdown structure element may be aproduct, data, service, or any combination thereof.
A WBS also provides the necessary framework for detailed cost estimating and control along
with providing guidance for schedule development and control.
A work breakdown structure lets project managers plan their work more efficiently. A project is
characterized by time-limited activities and is assigned fixed time frames and costs. When it is
finished, a project must fulfill the stakeholder needs it was designed to address. The project
management has to plan for the schedule, the fixed costs and the functional completeness of the
project and assign responsibilities. The WBS helps make this planning consistent and provides
for effective project execution.
Importance;-
Tasks
The main purpose of a WBS is to reduce complicated activities to a collection of tasks. This is
important for the project manager because she can oversee the tasks more effectively than the
complex activities. Tasks must be measurable and independent, with clearly defined limits. All
the project work must be included in one of the tasks and the tasks must not include any non-
project work.
Costs
Because the WBS tasks are measurable, the project management can assign specific costs to each
task. The WBS lets project managers distribute the project budget into defined packages linked
to the tasks and check to make sure that the task costs in total don\'t exceed the total project cost.
Schedule
The WBS is important for tracking progress in the project schedule. Because the WBS tasks have
clearly defined limits, the project management can determine how advanced the project is by
checking which of the tasks are finished. Even within each task, the project management can
check for percent completion because each task is measurable..
In the Adani-Hindenburg case, what is SEBI investigating.pptxAdani case
Adani SEBI investigation revealed that the latter had sought information from five foreign jurisdictions concerning the holdings of the firm’s foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) in relation to the alleged violations of the MPS Regulations. Nevertheless, the economic interest of the twelve FPIs based in tax haven jurisdictions still needs to be determined. The Adani Group firms classed these FPIs as public shareholders. According to Hindenburg, FPIs were used to get around regulatory standards.

1. How to capture video testimonials that convert from your audience 🎥
2. How to leverage your testimonials to boost your sales 💲
3. How you can capture more CRM data to understand your audience better through video testimonials. 📊
2. Introduction
Dividing complex projects to simpler and manageable tasks is the
process identified as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Usually, the project managers use this method for simplifying the
project execution. In WBS, much larger tasks are broken-down to
manageable chunks of work. These chunks can be easily
supervised and estimated.
3. A work breakdown structure
In project management and systems engineering, is a
deliverable oriented decomposition of a project into smaller
components.
A work breakdown structure element may be a product, data,
a service, or any combination. A WBS also provides the
necessary framework for detailed cost estimating and control
along with providing guidance for schedule development and
control.
5. WBS helps manager
Facilitates evaluation of cost, time, and technical performance
of the organization on a project.
Provides management with information appropriate to each
organizational level.
Helps in the development of the organization. breakdown
structure which assigns project responsibilities to
organizational units and individuals
Helps manager plan, schedule, and budget.
Defines communication channels and assists in coordinating
the various project elements.
6. Reasons for creating a WBS in a project.
Accurate and readable project organization.
Accurate assignment of responsibilities to the project team.
Indicates the project milestones and control points.
Helps to estimate the cost, time, and risk.
Illustrate the project scope, so the stakeholders can have a
better understanding of the same.
7. Purpose of WBS
first is that is helps more accurately and specifically define
and organize the scope of the total project.
The second reason for using a WBS in your projects is to
help with assigning responsibilities, resource allocation,
monitoring the project, and controlling the project
Finally, it allows you double check all the deliverables'
specifics with the stakeholders and make sure there is nothing
missing or overlapping.
8. How to build a WBS
Begin with the Charter, focusing on Objectives and Deliverables.
Break the main product(s) down into sub-products.
Set the structure to match how you’ll manage the project.
Lowest level not too detailed, not too large.
Is there a need for Integration?
Identify support activities.
Check for completeness - is all the effort included?
Develop a coding structure if needed.
Assign work package managers.
9. Following are a few reasons for creating a
WBS in a project
Accurate and readable project organization.
Accurate assignment of responsibilities to the project team.
Indicates the project milestones and control points.
Helps to estimate the cost, time, and risk.
Illustrate the project scope, so the stakeholders can have a
better understanding of the same.
10. Construction of a WBS
• Identifying the main deliverables of a project is the starting point for
deriving a work breakdown structure.
• This important step is usually done by the project managers and the
subject matter experts (SMEs) involved in the project. Once this step
is completed, the subject matter experts start breaking down the high-
level tasks into smaller chunks of work.
• In the process of breaking down the tasks, one can break them down
into different levels of detail. One can detail a high level task into ten
sub tasks while another can detail the same high level task into 20 sub
tasks.
11. Goals For WBS
Giving visibility to important work efforts.
Giving visibility to risky work efforts.
Illustrate the correlation between the activities and
deliverables.
Show clear ownership by task leaders.
12. STATEMENT OF WORK
When it comes to implementing or constructing large and complex
systems (such as an Dam, long term projects, enterprise software system),
the work requirements and conditions should be properly documented.
Statement of Work (SOW) is such document that describes what needs to
be done in the agreed contract. OR
A formal written description of your minimum requirements to be
performed by a contractor.
Usually, the SOW is written in a precise and definitive language that is
relevant to the field of business. This prevents any misinterpretations of
terms and requirements.
13. The SOW defines the scope and the working agreements
between two parties, typically between a client and a service
provider. Therefore, SOW carries a legal gravity as well.
14. Purpose of SOW
The main purpose of a SOW is to define the liabilities,
responsibilities and work agreements between clients and service
providers.
A well-written SOW will define the scope of the engagement and
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the engagement.
Therefore, the KPIs can be used to determine whether the service
provider has met conditions of the SOW and use it as a baseline for
future engagements.
SOW contains all details of non-specifications requirements of the
contractor or service provider's effort. Whenever specifications are
involved, the references are made from SOW to specific
specification documents.
15. • These specification documents can be functional requirements or non-
functional requirements.
• Functional requirements (in a software system) define how the
software should behave functionally and non-functional requirements
detail other characteristics of the software such as performance,
security, maintainability, configuration management, etc.
