Effects Of Birth Control On Children
When I was sixteen years old I asked my dad if he was okay with me going on birth control.
Naturally he thought the worst, but that had nothing to do with why I wanted it. The reason that
most female teens think about birth control is because of premenstrual syndrome a condition which
causes migraines, cramps, and mood swings. Many people, like my father, disapprove of teens
using birth controlfor moral and/ or religious reasons. Parents do not want their children to have
birth control because they often feel that it is inappropriate and against their beliefs. Teens should
be able to have easy access to birth control to assist with premenstrual syndrome, prevent
unwanted pregnancies, and gain knowledge about safe sex. Secondly, the cost of birth control is
becoming cheaper, so the financial issue is becoming less of a problem and free birth control is
helping to drastically lower unwanted teen pregnancies and abortions. In New York State, birth
control has become free for everyone, regardless of personal health insurance. On another note,
comprehensive sex education regarding birth control, as well as how to use it effectively, can help
teens more because if they become sexually active without knowing the risks, or how to effectively
use birth control, this creates a greater risk of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted
pregnancies.
Why do teens want birth control? Most teens want to be protected from pregnancy and sexually
transmitted diseases if they

Hotel and Tourism Management
The author would like to carry out the primary research of this study at the Hotel and Tourism
Management Institute, Switzerland which is a well renowned institute and is one of the leading
hotel management schools in the country. It is also known for its high quality and globally
recognized masters, degree and diploma courses. HTMi caters to over 200 students every year,
providing them with world class education while encompassing a strong family environment
amongst students from varied walks of life.
O Mahony et al., (2001) and Purcell and Quinn, (1996) state that students that enlist in hospitality
degree programs are mostly inspired by the anticipation of vocational and career outcomes.
Connolly, P. and McGing, G. (2006) mentions that designing significant educational programs for
the hospitality industry is not a simple and easy task, as there are continually unresolved debates
between scholars and practitioners about the suitable balance between academics and profession.
Hospitality management vocational degree programs aim at satisfying a common need in the
industry for skilled future employees and hence, it is required by educational institutions to ensure
the academic curriculum not only meets educational epecations but also student and industry
expectations (O Mahony, et al. 2001). Raybould, M. and Wilkins, H. (2005) examine that the
educators in the hospitality industry have for a while now, recognized the significance of matching
the program outcomes with needs

Summary Of The Journey By Primo Levi
Primo Levi was a Jewish writer and Holocaust survivor from the concentration Auschwitz. Primo
Levi talks about in his book called Survival in Auschwitz about what it means to survive. There
are many quotes that stand out in his book and have strong importance to them. The first quote
that stands out in Primo Levi s book is in chapter one, The Journey . In this chapter, Primo Levi
is describing his arrival. An important quote from this chapter is when Primo Levi says They
walked in squads, in rows of three, with an odd, embarrassed step, head dangling in front, arms
rigid. On their heads they wore comic berets and were all dressed in long striped overcoats,
which even by night and from a distance looked filthy and in rags. They walked in a large circle
around us, never drawing near, and in silence began to busy themselves with our luggage and to
climb in and out of the empty wagons (Levi 20). Primo Levi is describing his arrival at
Auschwitz. The importance of this quote is of the picture Primo Levi puts in the reader s mind.
Primo Levi does a great job describing in emotional detail of what his arrival was like. In the
next paragraph, Primo Levi says We looked at each other without a word. It was all
incomprehensible and mad. But one thing we had understood. This was the metamorphosis that
awaited us. Tomorrow we would be like them (Levi 21). This quote stands out because it shows
the realization Primo Levi had while watching the poor, lifeless Auschwitz prisoners work. By
watching the prisoners, Primo Levi had fully acknowledged that this is the life that awaits him the
next day. This is important for Primo Levi because by understanding what the future holds for him
in Auschwitz, he can better prepare himself for survival in Auschwitz. Primo Levi has a couple
quotes in chapter two, On the Bottom, that stand out and have significant importance to them. In
Chapter two, Primo Levi talks about the numbers being tattooed on his arm and what it means to
him. Primo Levi says I have learnt that I am Haftling. My number is 174517; we have been
baptized, we will carry the tattoo on our left arm until we die (Levi 27). This quote had many
importances to it. First, Levi says how they have just been

The Air Force Change Management
The Air Force is a component of the United States Department of Defense with numerous
responsibilities and combat capabilities. The broad scope of its military responsibilities has
necessitated a moderately flexible organizational structure, and a wide range of educational and
technical specialties. Obtaining the talent required to fill highly technical job openings has forced
the military to recruit civilian workers, resulting in a highly diverse work force. Although diversity
and flexibility provide the Air Force with significant advantages, these attributes also cause several
problems when leaders attempt to implement change. Researchers from RAND Corporation suggest

The department s leadership is responsible for providing appropriate manpower and resources to
each mission using an increasingly tight budget, while also following strict laws for high priority
missions, such as nuclear defense, which mandate both high levels of training and manpower (Air
Education Training Command, 2015). Additionally, warfare technology has become incredibly
advanced. Due to this complication, the educational and technical requirements for military service
members and employees are steadily increasing. education and contract diversity. Because of the
wide gap in educational requirements between each purpose the military fulfills, mission
completion has necessitated the recruiting of both active duty military members, and specialized
civilian employees and contractors. The increasing advanced requirements for cyberspace defense
and weapon research cannot be adequately met through an organizational model dependant on the
recruiting of enlisted members, who usually have an educational level no higher than high school,
and officer members, who often have not obtained an educational level higher than a baccalaureate
prior to service entry. The Air force needs traditional military members to maintain proficiency and
command during standard warfare operations. It needs highly technical positions, which the
government can only hope to effectively obtain from civilians, who naturally expect better pay and

Rhetoric Spirituality
Plastic Spirituality
The Hellenic world worshipped beauty. The cult of the body was born from the Greeks, as well
as rhetoric, the art of speaking pretty , the whole problem is when the appearance has no
essence. When the label does not match the content or the cries of the preachers are not cries of
the heart, but only expedients of those who want to call attention to themselves. I see so many
people today who play, sing and preach in the church trying to impress. They have the need for
people to see them. When I see falsettos, in order to demonstrate how well they can sing, and
preachers in need of self esteem trying to just promote themselves, I see the spirit of Greece. The
more impressive are the people that feed this pride disguised in good preaching. In the first century,
the Pharisees acquired a religion of rituals and outer manners, which was condemned by Jesus who
called them hypokrites (the actors) because they were staging a spirituality without internal content.
They were defined as whitewashed tombs, cute on the outside and rotten on the inside, that
represented a role, as many of their spiritual descendants today, whose ethics are just aesthetic. ...

Many take this expression to condemn the matter, the earth, and the planet. Now, Jesus refers to
the prevailing Greco Roman system whose cosmos has the sense of order or arrangement, in
which the system was organized with a shallow view of reality. In this world full of darkness, as
Paul calls it, once we penetrate into what shows to be the surface, we find the true nature of
things. There are many Christians like that, with a plastic spirituality, an outer beauty that does not
have essence and does not reflect the true nature of what is seen. The Pharisees in those days, as
in our days, are those people that although they seem to be profound, are in fact pro funds. Have

Analysis Of The Movie Hundred Dollar Baby
Men generally have the gender role to be the care takers, the fighters, and ultimately the manliest
man possible, while women have been thought to be weak and helpless at the sight of danger. In
the 2006 episode Hundred Dollar Baby of the TV show It s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the
male stereotype promotes males as fighters, but also disproves the general stereotype when some
men run away from a fight. Also, the femalestereotype is challenged when a woman wants to fight
her own battles instead of a mandoing it for her. Stereotypically, males typically assume they are
better fighters than women and while fighting, males seem drunk and tend to show off their bodies
by having their shirts off. Right off of the bat, the male... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This goes against the stereotypical male because males generally stay and fight, especially when
saving a woman is involved.
The next day, Mac and Dennis learn of an underground fighting ring and convince Charlie that he
is the strongest man they know and he would be a great fighter. Once again, the show goes
against the male stereotype by having Dennis and Mac make Charlie fight in their place so they
can make money betting. The guys begin to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly
drunk, suggesting that sober males would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes
that they do not believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of
them need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Mac, Dennis, and Charlie all agree that the best
way to be a high quality fighter and trainer is to be intoxicated while in action. The male
characters also emphasize that a male must have his shirt off to show off his muscular body
while fighting, just like Rocky and Terminator because they never wore a shirt when they were
training. Charlotte Jiourosek had said that as the athletic body type grew larger, so did the build
of stars like Rocky and Terminator. Just like Rocky and Terminator, today s men look as if they are
from another planet and would have been distasteful before today s age (233 4). In order for men to
seem like real

Essay on We Must End Illegal Immigration in the United States
Everyday illegal immigrants try to come to the United States for freedom. The United States
government should double the patrolling of the borders and the coast of the United States in order
to keep out illegal immigrants. We need to some how create a program that will end illegal
immigration. Ensuring that people who enter the United Statesillegally will not be able to obtain
employment, public assistance benefits, public education, public housing, or any other taxpayer
funded benefit should be sufficient to deter the flow of illegal immigrants. Some Cubans that
escape Cuba make their way to Mexico, but the majority of the Cubans that escape try for a shorter

Just because Haiti and other nations are nations that may be politically repressive, they are not
enemy nations. Therefore the immigrants are assumed not to be political refugees. Cubans on
the other hand are assumed to be political refugees, which the United States will accept. Many
people will agree that if one ethnicity doesn t apply to the wet foot dry foot policy then the
policy should be eliminated. If the United States didn t have a wet foot dry foot policy then
many Cuban illegal immigrants wouldn t be motivated to leave their country and risk their lives
on the harrowing trip across the Florida straits, especially if they knew they would just get sent
back to Cuba. It s a myth that the border can t be enforced. It can be enforced, said Dianne
Einstein, the United States Senator of California. Mexicans make up the largest percentage of
illegal immigrants in the United States. We share a 2,000 mile boundary with Mexico and a
common concern to stem the flow of illegal immigrants to America. We must have secure
borders and strong border control. We must return illegal aliens to their homes, especially
criminal aliens, said former Vice President Albert Gore. As of last year, Border Patrol agents
arrested close to 1.2 million illegal immigrants who tried crossing the Mexican border. Every year
there will be more illegal immigrants trying to cross the border to get out of their country to start a
better life then they had. We

equality. African Americans along with others fought for these rights through peaceful protests,
battles, and even literature. Claude McKay s If We Must Die and President Lyndon B. Johnson s
We Shall Overcome Speech , explicitly explain how African Americans attacked issues of resilience
and discrimination through courage and perseverance; in order to secure for themselves the full

Johnson s We Shall Overcome Speech , Johnson outlines the problems of the past, today, and how
to overcome those issues. President Johnson expresses how African Americans cry for equality
has been heard due to their peacefully protests and courage to speak out. Also, he clarifies that All
men are created equal and should be given the right to be treated as a man equal in opportunity to
all others (Johnson 5, 6). President Johnson expresses how every man no matter his race should
have dignity of man which cannot be found in a man s possession; it cannot be found in his
power, or in his position but, it really rests on his right to be treated as a man equal in opportunity
(6). He also explains how even though Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery, Africans have never
truly been free. For instance, due to human ingenuity and bigotry , Africans have been denied the
right to vote (11,38). They have been given literacy test, asked to recite the entire Constitution, or
explain the most complex provisions of State law (12). This discrimination has led to many
Africans being silenced in their struggle for human rights which is not ok. It has been more than a
hundred years, since equality was promised and the Nation is just now getting to the issue and
truly looking to make change and honoring the gallantry of those who brought the issue to eyes of
the people (47)(see

Danforth Neighbourhood Analysis
As with any other ethnic neighbourhood, The Danforth s presence within Toronto is important as it
allows for the preservation of the Greek culture in another country, and also encourages the sharing
of the culture within the city. Not only that, but The Danforth provides a unique perspective on an
ethnic neighbourhood that s thought of As the rest . Unlike other ethnic enclaves, such as
Chinatown, The Danforth is accustomed to the norms and way of life of the city of Toronto, while
preventing the assimilation of its own culture. This makes Greektown one of the more model ethnic
neighbourhoods, and an educational experience for all visitors, as its adaptation to the Canadian
culture makes it a substantially more relatable experience for visitors. In essence, it s not only
important for the general public to visit the neighbourhood, but for other ethnic neighbourhoods as
well, as it not only demonstrates how to successfully bring your native culture to a country, but also
how to share it by tailoring to that country s way of life and culture.... Show more content on

If we look at the history of India over the last century, we get many examples of historic
companies such as the Godrej Group, TATA Steel, ITC and many more that have bravely faced the
emerging market situation of India, the recessions and have successively managed to sustain
themselves till date. But rarely do we find examples of organizations started by a group of illiterate
men from the rural hinterlands of Pune and Mumbai to establish a successful cooperative model that

Conflict In The Metaphor, By Budge Wilson
Charlotte, a teenager making her way through high school, undergoes a coming of age
transformation through the teachings of her Mrs. Hancock and her mother in The Metaphor by
Budge Wilson. As with most stories like these, Charlotte has a major conflict that determines how
she will grow up. For the protagonist, the conflict is not so much between her teacher and mother,
but more so the lessons they bestow upon Charlotte. Through her use of literary techniques, the
author is able to craft this dynamic between the two schools of thought. The symbolism, diction,
tone and metaphors that Wilson uses shows which discipline, flamboyant and exciting or
controlling and passive aggressive, she chooses to live by.
Charlotte is conflicted by the two approaches presented to her in life, but the way in which she
responds to them clearly expresses which one she favors. For example, in her first introduction
to metaphors, she talks about her mother. She states, My mother is a flawless modern building.

Summary Of The Symposium
Lost Objectivity in the Symposium The Symposium was written by Plato to illustrate a discussion
between a group of friends. Additionally, the story presents numerous arguments that focus on the
god Love and its merits. To pass time while they drink, Eryximachus suggests that each of the
guests orate a eulogy of love. The guests proceed to participate in oration; however, their analysis
of love may not be as objective as it seems. Rather than focus on an impartial view of the god, many
of them have their own personal beliefs that they promote in each of their speeches. Several
speeches heavily deviate from a speech about love, and turn it into a speech that uses love to
support and justify their beliefs. Characters in the Symposiumtwist the meaning of love to fit their
own principles, rather than provide an objective assessment. Pausanias s speech utilizes love to
justify his relationships with younger boys. Pausanias s speech begins by outlining two distinct
types of love: It follows, therefore, that the same distinction of title Common and Celestial
should be applied to the different Loves who are the associates of one or the other Aphrodite
(180e). There are two different gods of love; therefore, Pausanias argues there should also be two
specific types of love. Common Love is the love for the body, while Celestial Love is the love for
someone s intellect. This distinction is critical, as he expounds upon who can experience Celestial
love: [T]he Love who

Causes And Impacts Of The Restoration Of Coral Reefs And...
Seagrasses are essential primary producers that provide habitat and refuge to fauna. Anthropogenic
influences have caused global loss of seagrasses and a major contributor is eutrophication, which
increases phytoplankton and algal populations, reduces light availability, and causes daily hypoxic
conditions. Eutrophication is commonly linked to declines in temperate conditions and is more
difficult to link to tropical systems since decreases are typically related to physical damage and
diminishing light conditions from runoff. Climate change, herbivore declines, disease and
overfishing, along with anthropogenic impacts from coastal development, run off, eutrophication,
and aquaculture have caused declines in coralreefs and mangrove systems. These three systems are
interconnected and when one system is impacted, secondary impacts are observed in the other
systems; coastal ecosystems will be adversely effected and decline. Additional research,
conservation, and ways to reduce anthropogenic impacts have been discussed. Restoration is used
to reverse habitat loss, although success is varied. Coastal systems and the biological and
ecosystem services they provide, may take decades to establish. Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
are instituted to protect systems from further degradation, restore communities and allow them to
flourish naturally. However, local residents are affected by MPAs and may become displaced, have
restriction placed on their livelihood, or elimination of their

In the short story, The Flash , Italo Calvino explains how it is absurd for society to accept things
for the way they are. As a young adult I strive to become an individual within society; by creating
my own thoughts and taking responsibility for my own actions. However, Calvino highlights that
we are all conformed by society. We accept societal ways without the slightest contradictions: get

Reward Management (RM) has been defined as the distribution of monetary and non monetary
rewards to employees in an effort to align the interests of the employees, the organisation, and its

the purpose of attracting prospective job applicants, retaining valuable employees, motivating

Similarly, Cascio (1991) suggests that the combination of the following five requirements along
with a performance based pay system can also have a very significant impact on performance.
The first of these is skill variety, where a wide variety of tasks or procedures is available to the
employee. Next is task identity, where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a
product of their efforts. This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as
important and meaningful. After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a major say in
work planning and execution. The final requirement is feedback, where employees receive
constructive advice or criticism on their performance.
The rewards offered can be extrinsic such as wages, incentives and bonuses, or intrinsic such as
job satisfaction, an internal feeling of worth and a sense of well being on the job.
O Neil (1998) suggests six minimal criteria for the design of a performance based pay system. The
first of these criteria is that the reward system should be self funding, that is, the performance
increases should as a minimum offset the cost of the rewards provided. The second criterion is that
the distribution of the rewards must be consistent, fair and justifiable. In addition reward plans must
be transparent and clearly communicated. The third criterion

Lydia Bennet
The Regency Era in England was an interesting period of time, ruled by elegance and etiquette
with definitive social classes. Women and men both wanted to marry rich, and this left some
young women hungry for a wealthy husband, or just a husband at all. This type of girl is
characterized in the novel Pride and Prejudiceby Jane Austen, through the character of Lydia
Bennet. She is the fifth Bennet daughter, automatically acquiring the title of the youngest Bennet

This is especially evident in the situation when she elopes with Wickham, a malicious man, and

marriage, she speaks with confidence when she says that her sisters should be jealous of her
marriage, and she wishes they have half [her] good luck in finding a husband (269). This
statement is extremely ironic, because Lydia s large ego inhibits her ability to see Wickham s
true character. She does not know how boorishly he acted towards Mr. Darcy, how much money
he lost gambling, or how hated he is in his home town. Lydia cannot make a clear minded
decision and evaluate how her elopement will affect family, let alone her own life. Pride also
gets in the way, and her childish mindset only see how eloping with Wickham will result in her
being the first Bennet daughter to marry, and in her mind, making her the best and most mature

What Is The Statement Of Purpose In Mechanical Engineering
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
University of Illinois Chicago, Fall 2014
Statement of Purpose by Samuel Devdas
The undergraduate curriculum in Mechanical Engineering at RTM Nagpur University introduced a
wide gamut of subjects, both in and outside the field. These courses enabled me to understand the
field of Mechanical Engineering on the whole. In my opinion, having just a bachelor degree would
not allow me to narrow down my research areas for further doctoral thesis. Thus, my purpose to
join Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) at University of Illinois Chicago is to
understand thoroughly all the research aspects of Mechanical Engineering, which would indeed
facilitate me to keep up my research work in Design and Nanoengineering.
My undergraduate experience has been a very exciting journey. I was amazed to learn how the
principles of mechanical engineering touch the lives of every human being. It made me clear that
mechanical sciences simplifies the lives of people involved in industry and also the masses through
ceaseless development in design and manufacturing areas, making it efficient, safe, cost effective
and most importantly environment friendly. Holding a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Poem How Of Tame A Wild Tongue
The essay, How to tame a wild tongue written by Gloria Anzaldua is a staggering piece on important
social issues such as racism, cultural differences, individuation, and domination. Anzaldua believes
that her language is yet the most central and important component for her ethnic identity as a
person. If her language is threatened, then her individuality is threatened. She basically responds to
the violence she experienced as her character was restricted in this dominating society that she was
trying to adapt in. Anzaldua used quotes from various scholars who feel the same way about the
society as she did about language, identity, racism, and cultural imperialism. Additionally, her
writing was based on personal experience which enriches the essay with credibility since the
reader is able to get the experience first handed by the victim of these crimes. Furthermore, as an
immigrant myself, I was attracted to this essay because I could relate to many of the topics she
covered. I also saw this as a way to compare my experience with hers so I could see how much
this society has improved overall. I was gulped in the essay by the use of metaphor in the beginning
of the essay which created this interesting curious vibe that grasped my attention. A dentist visit was
used metaphorically to describe the struggle between her identity and the society. The doctor
symbolized the society, and her tongue represented her identity as it was trying to survive in the
restricting society

The Development of IT Systems in Saudi Arabia s Public...
Abstract
One of the key priorities of governments internationally is to ensure that they will be able to
develop the necessary mechanisms for the increase of their countries competitiveness in the
international community. In this case, the increase of competitiveness is related with the increase
of the power of the country to intervene in political issues of high importance; it is also related with
the improvement of the country s position in the global market. Information technology is
commonly used as a tool of the achievement of the above targets
(Xu et al., 2009, p.18); current study focuses on the potential role of information system as a tool for
achieving competitive advantage; reference is made to the

From another point of view, Rocheleau et al. (2002) noted that the development of information
systems in modern organizations is differentiated in accordance with the organizational needs and
structure (Stair et al. 2009, p.14); the resources available for the realization of the relevant projects
are also expected to be taken into consideration when having to design and establish a specific
information technology system (Shah et al., 2009,
p.144). In this context, it is assumed that differences are likely to appear between the information
systems used in the private sector and those involved in activities of the public sector. Regarding
this issue, Rocheleau et al. (2002) state that there are important differences between public and
private information systems; competition forces businesses to use information technology (IT) as
a weapon to gain competitive advantage (Rocheleau et al., 2002, p.379); on the other hand, the
empirical research developed by Rocheleau et al. (2002) led to the conclusion that organizations in
the public sector are likely to appreciate the value of IT systems as much as the private
organizations do (Lytras et al., 2009, p.31); however, the latter have been found to be willing to
invest significant amount of money on the training of the staff on the IT systems. The examination

A Small American Subdivision, Two Neighbors Throw...
Safe to Advertise Within a small American subdivision, two neighbors throw Christmas parties
next to each other, secretly hoping that their own is more successful and brings in a larger
crowd. Feeling the holiday cheer, each house and the family inside has tediously decorated the
inside and outside of their homes, and seemed to even polish their mannerisms for the social
gathering. Although the themes and motives are similar to each abode, they still differ. One house
offers an exceptional atmosphere and ambiance, while the other continues to produce wonderful
appetizers, entrees, and hors d oeuvres. Eventually the crowd at the once entertaining house
begins to quiet down and starts to desire the main axis point of all American celebrations food.
Before the night is over, all guests have gradually migrated to the more culinary inclined host, and
a winner is clearly visible. For decades, this nation has relied heavily upon comestibles to enjoy
any event, an attribute Davidson s Safest Choice is obviously aware of when they produce
advertisements. In their recent advertisement in Better Homes and Gardens December 2016
edition, Davidson s Safest Choice efficaciously markets their pasteurized eggs by exercising a
structured layout, personal voice, and rhetorical persuasion while utilizing the chronological
printing of the ad. Albeit, the true impression of an advertisement is in the eye of the beholder and

Recrystallization Of Naphthalene Lab Report
Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid, and Naphthalene
Charles Nyberg
Gilbert Immanuel and Rachel Zigelsky
Mussie Gide Introduction Chemical experiments are often described, when they are finished, by the
yield or recovery of the target product or solid. Also melting point can be tested to determine purity
in a compound. Most times these chemicals are not completely pure so they can be recrystallized to
remove the impurities. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best
to remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solventis used that dissolves the solid
at room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified
removal process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered
structure in the form of crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be
recrystallized with only one solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve
the substance at boiling point only and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be
dissolved into each other but not anything else effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent
dissolving at room temperature and the other half is used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly,
activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored impurities from the dissolved solid
solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is able to be

Turn Pete Seeger Song Essay
Musician, song writer, and social activist, Pete Seeger wrote the hit Turn! Turn! Turn!, which
was popularly covered by the American rock band, The Byrds. Seeger adapted the lyrics from
Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Before delving deeper into the meaning of Ecclesiastes 3 in class, I
would have seen little to no difference between the meaning of the Bible and the meaning of the
Seeger song. For me initially, both the song and chapter expressed the notion of life s beautiful
and dark times: the time for joyously dancing about the room or the time for feeling frozen with
grief. But, when reading and discussing Ecclesiastes in class, I finally read the verses in a larger
context. As a whole book Ecclesiastes has a more negative tone, even expressing the uselessness or
the meaninglessness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Editors of the text even potentially added concluding remarks to the controversial messages of
Ecclesiastes in order to remind the reader that their actions do in fact matter, because they need
to follow the word of God and his commandments. But, for me, the Seeger song has a more
comforting, much more widely applicable and more secular meaning, despite the fact that its
lyrics come directly from the Bible. The song alludes more to my initial interpretation of the
verses, because the words stand alone, without the greater context of Ecclesiastes. A line from
both the verses and the song that I find troubling is the suggestions that there should be a time of
war, and a time of peace. I had trouble finding an explanation as to why the Bible would promote
having a time for war, while there obviously had been times of war and there would be more
times of war, it seems odd that the Bible would make war an inevitable. Should there really be a
time for war? As I have come to study the Old Testament with more questions and with greater
analysis, I see and contemplate the violence of it. And I have come to accept that there is not
always a concrete answer when it comes to the Bible s

The Irish Easter Rebellion 1916 Essay
The 1916 Irish Easter Uprising
Ever since the occupation of Ireland by the English began in 1169, Irish patriots have fought back
against British rule, and the many Irish rebellions and civil wars had always been defeated. To
quash further rebellion, the Act of Union was imposed in 1800, tying Ireland to the United Kingdom
of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Laws discriminating against Catholics and the handling of
the Irish Potato Famine of 1845 50 led to increased tension and the proposal of introducing Home
Rule gained support.
In 1913 there was a general strike of workers in Dublin led by James Connolly of the Irish
Transport and General Workers Union (I.T.G.W.U.). This action was followed by the 1913 Lock

It was a call for a blood sacrifice in order to free Ireland from British rule. In organising an
uprising, the funeral was proof that the Volunteers could organise when secretly directed by the
I.R.B. and on St. Patrick s Day (17th March), Connolly took his Citizen Army on a tour of key
Dublin sites which could be used as strategic strongholds during an uprising.
However, there were many difficulties in organising and executing such a rebellion and one thing
the rebels needed were weapons. Sir Roger Casement had organised for a shipment of as many as
200,000 rifles to be smuggled into Ireland on a neutral German freighter, the Aud. But when
Casement arrived in Ireland on a German submarine he was arrested immediately and the freighter
was intercepted by the Royal Navy and scuttled itself. Another attempt was made to gain large
quantities of arms and ammunition during the actual uprising from the arsenal at Phoenix Park
known as Magazine Fort. However this was not very successful and the rebels seized only a few
rifles.
Throughout the organisation of the rebellion, Eoin MacNeill, leader of the minority Volunteers had
to be kept in the dark about the I.R.B. s plans because he believed that his Irish Volunteersshould
only rise in arms if a British

  • 2. Effects Of Birth Control On Children When I was sixteen years old I asked my dad if he was okay with me going on birth control. Naturally he thought the worst, but that had nothing to do with why I wanted it. The reason that most female teens think about birth control is because of premenstrual syndrome a condition which causes migraines, cramps, and mood swings. Many people, like my father, disapprove of teens using birth controlfor moral and/ or religious reasons. Parents do not want their children to have birth control because they often feel that it is inappropriate and against their beliefs. Teens should be able to have easy access to birth control to assist with premenstrual syndrome, prevent unwanted pregnancies, and gain knowledge about safe sex. Secondly, the cost of birth control is becoming cheaper, so the financial issue is becoming less of a problem and free birth control is helping to drastically lower unwanted teen pregnancies and abortions. In New York State, birth control has become free for everyone, regardless of personal health insurance. On another note, comprehensive sex education regarding birth control, as well as how to use it effectively, can help teens more because if they become sexually active without knowing the risks, or how to effectively use birth control, this creates a greater risk of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies. Why do teens want birth control? Most teens want to be protected from pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases if they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is also known for its high quality and globally recognized masters, degree and diploma courses. HTMi caters to over 200 students every year, providing them with world class education while encompassing a strong family environment amongst students from varied walks of life. O Mahony et al., (2001) and Purcell and Quinn, (1996) state that students that enlist in hospitality degree programs are mostly inspired by the anticipation of vocational and career outcomes. Connolly, P. and McGing, G. (2006) mentions that designing significant educational programs for the hospitality industry is not a simple and easy task, as there are continually unresolved debates between scholars and practitioners about the suitable balance between academics and profession. Hospitality management vocational degree programs aim at satisfying a common need in the industry for skilled future employees and hence, it is required by educational institutions to ensure the academic curriculum not only meets educational epecations but also student and industry expectations (O Mahony, et al. 2001). Raybould, M. and Wilkins, H. (2005) examine that the educators in the hospitality industry have for a while now, recognized the significance of matching the program outcomes with needs ... • 4. Summary Of The Journey By Primo Levi Primo Levi was a Jewish writer and Holocaust survivor from the concentration Auschwitz. Primo Levi talks about in his book called Survival in Auschwitz about what it means to survive. There are many quotes that stand out in his book and have strong importance to them. The first quote that stands out in Primo Levi s book is in chapter one, The Journey . In this chapter, Primo Levi is describing his arrival. An important quote from this chapter is when Primo Levi says They walked in squads, in rows of three, with an odd, embarrassed step, head dangling in front, arms rigid. On their heads they wore comic berets and were all dressed in long striped overcoats, which even by night and from a distance looked filthy and in rags. They walked in a large circle around us, never drawing near, and in silence began to busy themselves with our luggage and to climb in and out of the empty wagons (Levi 20). Primo Levi is describing his arrival at Auschwitz. The importance of this quote is of the picture Primo Levi puts in the reader s mind. Primo Levi does a great job describing in emotional detail of what his arrival was like. In the next paragraph, Primo Levi says We looked at each other without a word. It was all incomprehensible and mad. But one thing we had understood. This was the metamorphosis that awaited us. Tomorrow we would be like them (Levi 21). This quote stands out because it shows the realization Primo Levi had while watching the poor, lifeless Auschwitz prisoners work. By watching the prisoners, Primo Levi had fully acknowledged that this is the life that awaits him the next day. This is important for Primo Levi because by understanding what the future holds for him in Auschwitz, he can better prepare himself for survival in Auschwitz. Primo Levi has a couple quotes in chapter two, On the Bottom, that stand out and have significant importance to them. In Chapter two, Primo Levi talks about the numbers being tattooed on his arm and what it means to him. Primo Levi says I have learnt that I am Haftling. My number is 174517; we have been baptized, we will carry the tattoo on our left arm until we die (Levi 27). This quote had many importances to it. First, Levi says how they have just been ... • 9. Rhetoric Spirituality Plastic Spirituality The Hellenic world worshipped beauty. The cult of the body was born from the Greeks, as well as rhetoric, the art of speaking pretty , the whole problem is when the appearance has no essence. When the label does not match the content or the cries of the preachers are not cries of the heart, but only expedients of those who want to call attention to themselves. I see so many people today who play, sing and preach in the church trying to impress. They have the need for people to see them. When I see falsettos, in order to demonstrate how well they can sing, and preachers in need of self esteem trying to just promote themselves, I see the spirit of Greece. The more impressive are the people that feed this pride disguised in good preaching. In the first century, the Pharisees acquired a religion of rituals and outer manners, which was condemned by Jesus who called them hypokrites (the actors) because they were staging a spirituality without internal content. Also, the femalestereotype is challenged when a woman wants to fight her own battles instead of a mandoing it for her. The guys begin to practice fighting as long as they are explicitly drunk, suggesting that sober males would lose in a fight or would not fight at all. This proposes that they do not believe they could win a fight or be in one if they were sober, so all three of them need to be drunk to make it a great fight. Conflict In The Metaphor, By Budge Wilson Charlotte, a teenager making her way through high school, undergoes a coming of age transformation through the teachings of her Mrs. Hancock and her mother in The Metaphor by Budge Wilson. As with most stories like these, Charlotte has a major conflict that determines how she will grow up. For the protagonist, the conflict is not so much between her teacher and mother, but more so the lessons they bestow upon Charlotte. Through her use of literary techniques, the author is able to craft this dynamic between the two schools of thought. The symbolism, diction, tone and metaphors that Wilson uses shows which discipline, flamboyant and exciting or controlling and passive aggressive, she chooses to live by. Charlotte is conflicted by the two approaches presented to her in life, but the way in which she responds to them clearly expresses which one she favors. For example, in her first introduction to metaphors, she talks about her mother. She states, My mother is a flawless modern building. Right away we see that she does love and admire her mother. Not only does she immediately think of her mother, she talks about her with awe. However, the metaphor continues to state why it maybe isn t the best thing. By stating that there are no comfortable chairs it shows that although it may seem like she is a great mother, she typically leave Charlotte in a place she doesn t want to be by forcing her to be the same type of person. • 21. Summary Of The Symposium Lost Objectivity in the Symposium The Symposium was written by Plato to illustrate a discussion between a group of friends. Additionally, the story presents numerous arguments that focus on the god Love and its merits. To pass time while they drink, Eryximachus suggests that each of the guests orate a eulogy of love. The guests proceed to participate in oration; however, their analysis of love may not be as objective as it seems. Rather than focus on an impartial view of the god, many of them have their own personal beliefs that they promote in each of their speeches. Several speeches heavily deviate from a speech about love, and turn it into a speech that uses love to support and justify their beliefs. Characters in the Symposiumtwist the meaning of love to fit their own principles, rather than provide an objective assessment. Pausanias s speech utilizes love to justify his relationships with younger boys. Pausanias s speech begins by outlining two distinct types of love: It follows, therefore, that the same distinction of title Common and Celestial should be applied to the different Loves who are the associates of one or the other Aphrodite (180e). There are two different gods of love; therefore, Pausanias argues there should also be two specific types of love. Anthropogenic influences have caused global loss of seagrasses and a major contributor is eutrophication, which increases phytoplankton and algal populations, reduces light availability, and causes daily hypoxic conditions. Eutrophication is commonly linked to declines in temperate conditions and is more difficult to link to tropical systems since decreases are typically related to physical damage and diminishing light conditions from runoff. Climate change, herbivore declines, disease and overfishing, along with anthropogenic impacts from coastal development, run off, eutrophication, and aquaculture have caused declines in coralreefs and mangrove systems. These three systems are interconnected and when one system is impacted, secondary impacts are observed in the other systems; coastal ecosystems will be adversely effected and decline. Additional research, conservation, and ways to reduce anthropogenic impacts have been discussed. Restoration is used to reverse habitat loss, although success is varied. As a young adult I strive to become an individual within society; by creating my own thoughts and taking responsibility for my own actions. However, Calvino highlights that we are all conformed by society. We accept societal ways without the slightest contradictions: get a job, get married, start a family, act normal, obey the law, yet there is no freedom, we are all damned to this never ending cycle. The things I had once accepted suddenly made no sense. Why do I follow the status quo ? Is there more to life than society s conformed corners? Next is task identity, where the employee can clearly identify the output of a task as a product of their efforts. This is followed by task significance, where the work is recognised as important and meaningful. After this comes autonomy, where the employees have a major say in work planning and execution. The final requirement is feedback, where employees receive constructive advice or criticism on their performance. The technique of recrystallization learned and utilized in this lab works best to remove contaminates from nonvolatile organic solids.1 A solventis used that dissolves the solid at room temperature and then the impurities can be removed via pipette or other simplified removal process. When all impurities are dissolved and removed, a lattice or an ordered structure in the form of crystals is able to be collected and observed. Some substances cannot be recrystallized with only one solvent. Therefore, two solvents, or solvent pairs, can help dissolve the substance at boiling point only and not room temperature.2 Solvent pairs are able to be dissolved into each other but not anything else effectively. One part of the pair is used to prevent dissolving at room temperature and the other half is used to help dissolve at boiling point. Lastly, activated charcoal is utilized to remove brightly colored impurities from the dissolved solid solutions. The charcoal attracts the impure substances and then is able to be ... • 48. Turn Pete Seeger Song Essay Musician, song writer, and social activist, Pete Seeger wrote the hit Turn! Turn! Turn!, which was popularly covered by the American rock band, The Byrds. Seeger adapted the lyrics from Ecclesiastes chapter 3. Before delving deeper into the meaning of Ecclesiastes 3 in class, I would have seen little to no difference between the meaning of the Bible and the meaning of the Seeger song. For me initially, both the song and chapter expressed the notion of life s beautiful and dark times: the time for joyously dancing about the room or the time for feeling frozen with grief. But, when reading and discussing Ecclesiastes in class, I finally read the verses in a larger context. As a whole book Ecclesiastes has a more negative tone, even expressing the uselessness or the meaninglessness... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Editors of the text even potentially added concluding remarks to the controversial messages of Ecclesiastes in order to remind the reader that their actions do in fact matter, because they need to follow the word of God and his commandments. But, for me, the Seeger song has a more comforting, much more widely applicable and more secular meaning, despite the fact that its lyrics come directly from the Bible. The song alludes more to my initial interpretation of the verses, because the words stand alone, without the greater context of Ecclesiastes. A line from both the verses and the song that I find troubling is the suggestions that there should be a time of war, and a time of peace. I had trouble finding an explanation as to why the Bible would promote having a time for war, while there obviously had been times of war and there would be more times of war, it seems odd that the Bible would make war an inevitable. Should there really be a time for war? As I have come to study the Old Testament with more questions and with greater analysis, I see and contemplate the violence of it. And I have come to accept that there is not always a concrete answer when it comes to the Bible s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The Irish Easter Rebellion 1916 Essay The 1916 Irish Easter Uprising Ever since the occupation of Ireland by the English began in 1169, Irish patriots have fought back against British rule, and the many Irish rebellions and civil wars had always been defeated. To quash further rebellion, the Act of Union was imposed in 1800, tying Ireland to the United Kingdom of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Laws discriminating against Catholics and the handling of the Irish Potato Famine of 1845 50 led to increased tension and the proposal of introducing Home Rule gained support. In 1913 there was a general strike of workers in Dublin led by James Connolly of the Irish Transport and General Workers Union (I.T.G.W.U.). This action was followed by the 1913 Lock Out during which ... It was a call for a blood sacrifice in order to free Ireland from British rule. In organising an uprising, the funeral was proof that the Volunteers could organise when secretly directed by the I.R.B. and on St. Patrick s Day (17th March), Connolly took his Citizen Army on a tour of key Dublin sites which could be used as strategic strongholds during an uprising. However, there were many difficulties in organising and executing such a rebellion and one thing the rebels needed were weapons. Sir Roger Casement had organised for a shipment of as many as 200,000 rifles to be smuggled into Ireland on a neutral German freighter, the Aud. But when Casement arrived in Ireland on a German submarine he was arrested immediately and the freighter was intercepted by the Royal Navy and scuttled itself. Another attempt was made to gain large quantities of arms and ammunition during the actual uprising from the arsenal at Phoenix Park known as Magazine Fort. However this was not very successful and the rebels seized only a few rifles. Throughout the organisation of the rebellion, Eoin MacNeill, leader of the minority Volunteers had to be kept in the dark about the I.R.B. s plans because he believed that his Irish Volunteersshould only rise in arms if a British ...
