Essay Helper.pdf
1. Essay Helper
Writing an essay on the topic "Essay Helper" presents its own set of challenges. One might
assume that discussing a tool designed to assist in the essay-writing process would make the task
easier, but it introduces a paradox. On one hand, the existence of an essay helper implies a
simplified approach to crafting academic papers. On the other hand, delving into the intricacies
of such a tool necessitates a nuanced analysis.
The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between promoting the benefits of essay helpers
and addressing potential concerns. It requires navigating through the fine line between
acknowledging the advantages of assistance and emphasizing the importance of independent
thinking and originality in writing. The challenge is not only to elucidate how an essay helper can
streamline the writing process but also to explore the ethical implications and potential
drawbacks.
Furthermore, one must grapple with the evolving nature of technology and its impact on
education. The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence raise questions about the extent to
which reliance on essay helpers may hinder the development of critical thinking skills. There is a
need to address concerns about plagiarism and academic integrity while recognizing the
legitimate role that these tools play in providing support to students with diverse needs.
Crafting an essay on this topic involves delving into the multifaceted aspects of education,
technology, and pedagogy. It necessitates a thoughtful exploration of the intersection between
assistance and autonomy, all while maintaining a clear and coherent narrative. Striking the right
tone is crucial – neither overly optimistic about the benefits nor excessively critical of the
potential pitfalls.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Essay Helper" demands a careful balance between extolling
the virtues of assistance and critically examining the implications of relying on such tools. It
involves navigating through the nuances of the educational landscape and technology's role in
shaping it. Despite the challenges, the essay provides an opportunity to engage with a topic that
is at the forefront of contemporary academic discourse.

2. The Tragic Hero, John Practor, in The Crucible by Arthur...
John Proctor
The Crucible by Arthur Miller is set in Salem in a Puritan community. John Proctor
had everything the average puritan could ever want: a farm to ceaselessly toil upon,
three sons to discipline, and a wife to spend his life with. Proctor was a guy that
wasn t afraid to speak his mind and throughout Salem he was respected and honored
for it. But John wasn t the perfect man either he had betrayed his wife and committed
adultery. John Proctor is the tragic hero because he is loving, loyal, authoritative, but
his tragic flaw is his temper.
John is a loving husband. He proves that by telling Elizabeth, It is well seasoned (p.

John shows his loyalty when he is trying to prove Elizabeth s innocence to witchcraft.
By telling the judge, my wife is innocent! (103).
John has an authoritative personality. John proves this authoritative personality
when he goes to Reverend Paris s house, to find out why there is talk of witchcraft
in the town, and finds his servant, Mary Warren, who is not supposed to be there
and she shays Oh! I m just going home, knowing she isn t supposed to be there
(20). His first words to her indicate his authority, Now get home because she does
not question him and simply does what he says she proves he has authority (20). He
shows his authoritative personality when talking alone with Abigail. He tells her,
That s done with trying to end the conversation after she has asked for a soft word
therefore showing his authority (21). He also shows his authority with Elizabeth
about Mary Warren going into Salem after he had forbid her to go. (49) He has
shown his authority over the hired help in his house. Later he shows his authority by
getting the last words in an argument with Mary Warren, Good night, then! (57)
John Proctor s tragic flaw is his temper. Though his pride does go along with his
temper, the reason he was jailed at the end of the story was for
3. Evaluate two models of one cognitive process
Cecilia Nguyen Evaluate two models of one cognitive process This essay will be
discussing one particular cognitive process: the memory by evaluating two models,
which are the Multi store model introduced by Atkinson and Shiffrin in 1968 and
the Working memory model by Baddeley and Hitch in 1974. The first model is the
multi store model. It was first proposed by Atkinson and Shiffrin in 1968 and is a
typical example of the information processing approach. According to this model,
memory consists of three types of memory stores: sensory stores, short term store and
long term store. Sensory stores consist of the eyes, nose, fingers, tongue, etc and the
corresponding area of the brain. The sensory stores... Show more content on

The visuo spatial sketchpad when planned a spatial task and it saves memory
temporarily. The episodic buffer is the general store, it integrates info from the
central executive, the phonological loop and the visuo spatial sketchpad and forms
long term store. Research evidence for the working model of memory varies. Case
studies of brain damaged patients support this model a lot. The case study of KF a
brain damaged patient with no problem with long term learning but some aspects of
his immediate memory were impaired. This has proven that the working model of
memory was right when suggesting that short term store works independently of long
term store. In addition to evidence supporting this model, Baddeley and Hitch did a
research on making participants do two tasks using the same or different components.
Task one occupied the central executive, task two either involved the articulatory
loop or both the central executive and the articulatory loop. Speed on task one was
the same whether using the articulatory loop or no extra task. This shows that doing
two tasks that involve the same component causes difficulty. It also suggested that
when two different components are used, performance is not affected. Even though
the working model of memory is better than the multi store model, it still has some
weaknesses. For example the role of the central executive is vague and it needs more
research. Also there were problems with
4. Cost Management Plan
Cost Management Plan
The risk management tool that I would like to discuss is the cost management plan.
The definition according to PMBOK is a document that sets out the format and
establishes the activities and criteria for planning, structuring, and controlling the
project costs . The cost management plan is often packaged inside of a larger project
management plan which will demonstrate how to effectively control and execute the
overall strategy. The cost management plan may be formal or informal, extremely
detailed or loosely framed depending on what the project needs. An effective cost
management plan can establish the following: 1. Level of accuracy Activity cost
estimates need to be consistent and uniform based on the ... Show more content on

7. Process descriptions The three cost management processes are listed.
There is a sequence in which this all comes together nicely and can involve multiple
teams within the project or a single person with authority on a smaller project. The
ability to influence cost and determine risk associated with it is greatest at the
beginning stages of a project life cycle. In order to develop a proper cost management
plan, the project management team must creatively gather facts and brainstorm.
There are three main processes used during project cost management that can be
utilized and defined in the cost management plan. These processes are estimating
costs, determining the budget, and controlling costs. This project specific approach to
cost management may generate or reduce risk by its design alone.
Inadequate funding is a major factor in almost all projects and could cause lengthy
setbacks or recalculations to scope. Project cost estimates will include any or all of
the following; staffing, outsourcing, equipment, services, travel, communication, or
financing. The overall project budget will be developed after considering these
factors and then after a complete picture is given, it may be determined that the more
money is required for completion. Another benefit to accuracy on a cost management
plan is the ability to study the outcome after the project. Trends, unknown risks, and
inconsistencies become apparent for future projects and should be kept on file

History
Before 1927, business studies were taught in early institution but there was no
official record of it evolution. Nevertheless, Professor Gras started a business history
program that aimed at tracing the chronologic development of history from small
scale learning to the current institutions. He was an editor of the Bulletin of the
Business Historical Society since the year 1926 1953, which was later transformed
in the year 1953 to the modern Business History review (86). During this period,
business was learnt through the application of theories that were simple and specific
to a certain situation or discipline. The major factor that contributed to the narrow
nature of the early business was the motive of study. Individuals studied the field

Intellect: Beyond the books One s intelligence cannot simply be measured based on
his or her educational background. Intellect is spawned from within based on an
individual s experience and desire for additional knowledge. In the article, Blue
Collar Brilliance , Mike rose contends the egocentric notion regarding what makes an
individual intelligent; western civilization has drug on their fascistic opinions since
earlier times. Everything including one s intellectual capabilities has been measured
by a hierarchy designed by the white man in order to oppress non white civilization.
Our intellectual capacity is bigger than a formal education; Intelligence that is
acquired outside of the classroom is commensurate to those who have solemn
educations. White collar workers are not the only individuals who possess knowledge
and skill. Rose acknowledges the rudiments involved with success in the blue collar
work field. Many positions associated with this kind of work, like construction
workers, require employees to utilize logic skills and perceive numerical value
beyond it s rudimentary form. It is also imperative for construction workers to be
very attentive to specifications made by construction contractors. They must be able
to read and interpret blueprints and work related documents. Precise math perception
is essential for calculating measurements and angles, and determining accurate
adjustments; a good understanding of geometry helps with interpreting designs.

Should a superhero show have a perfect example of psychological theory to be

but I believe so. For a superhero show to connect with people, not only does it need
to have a great action and fight scene, but the show need to be realistic, at least in a
psychological level way. One show in mind that does a great job in executing this is,

9. The Hobbit Comparison
J.R.R. Tolkien is a writing superhero who has created a vast world that can be
compared and contrasted. One interesting fact about J.R.R. Tolkien is that he knew
at least 20 languages and made many of his own. Knowing and making many
languages is what really solidified his way of writing, by doing so he created
multiple languages that are used in both The Hobbitand Lord of the Rings. To
understand the differences between Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit is
necessary to take a closer look at the theme, plot, and characters. By comparing The
Hobbit to Lord of the Rings, it becomes clear that these two books share a the same
timeline. Both stories take place in Middle Earth during the Third Age. Rivendell
and The Shire are the only places that appear in both the books. They share a similar
theme, self development. Many characters appear in the The Hobbit and Lord of the

When I went on stage during our weekly assembly and announced the start of
affinity groups at our school, I was oblivious to the reaction of the hundreds of
students in the audience. I was focused on speaking clearly and getting through my
short speech, excited by what I was announcing. I didn t know that the few
sentences I read off a piece of paper would change my perception of my school, my
friends, and myself. Almost as soon as I got out of the assembly, before I even got
to my next class, I began hearing people criticizing affinity groups. Many people
were saying that this was segregating students, that we were being reverse racists ,
that there was no need for the groups or any discussions about race, that SDLC (the

The only people who had had any experience with these groups were the people
who had attended the SDLC conference, where we participated in our respective
affinity groups. Soon after we announced the start of the groups, other students
confronted me about the groups. Many people had an almost visceral reaction
against the concept of the groups, having been taught for so long that it is wrong
to single out people for their race. I understand why it was hard for people to
acknowledge the need for these groups, as it meant acknowledging that our whole
system had flaws; that there was still racism and prejudice within our community.
This is not something people were comfortable discussing. My school s motto is
Excellence and Honor and many students are incredibly smart and high achieving.
We pride ourselves not just on our academic strength but on our honor code and
ethical behavior. This made people particularly hesitant to pop the bubble of
excellence and perfection by discussing things like racism. I d like to think that I am
naturally an open minded and accepting person, but perhaps if I hadn t been to the
SDLC conference and participated in the affinity groups there, I too would have been
skeptical of the program. The introduction of something so new and unfamiliar was

He had a hands on experience of what China was before (during the Cultural
Revolution) and how it has evolved from that point. We are living in an epoch
where there s no single hegemonic power. Where each state pull its weight and
international organizations exist to support and ensure that it stays that way. China
is one example of a country that was left and considered insignificant
(economically) a few decades ago and now leads the world. A nation that
tremendously denounced globalization is the country that mostly benefits from it.
The US however, is moving towards the opposite. Instead of embracing
globalization trade agreements that promote it, one example is the TPP. Under the
current Trump administration, the US officially closed its doors from further
participation with the said agreement. This of course, benefits China. While
whatever China does right now can be taken as aggression and bullying of smaller
nations, we can all agree that China s action is far from surprising, but in actuality,
is an expected consequence of a rising nation. The fact is that we are not used to
probable change in status quo, China s rise in power may bring. We ve been living
in the current boundaries established since WWII and the possibility of that changing

12. Depression
.
The Great Depression was a period of unprecedented decline in economic activity. It
is generally agreed to have occurred between 1929 and 1939. Although parts of the
economy had begun to recover by 1936, high unemployment persisted until the
Second World War.
Background To Great Depression: * The 1920s witnessed an economic boom in the
US (typified by Ford Motor cars, which made a car within the grasp of ordinary
workers for the first time). Industrial output expanded very rapidly. * Sales were
often promoted through buying on credit. However, by early 1929, the steam had
gone out of the economy and output was beginning to fall. * The stock market had

Global Downturn.
America had lent substantial amounts to Europe and UK, to help rebuild after first
world war. Therefore, there was a strong link between the US economy and the rest
of the world. The US downturn soon spread to the rest of the world as America
called in loans, Europe couldn t afford to pay back. This global recession was
exacerbated by imposing new tariffs such as Smoot Hawley which restricted trade
further.
Different Views of the Great Depression
Monetarists View
Monetarists highlight the importance of a fall in the money supply. They point out
that between 1929 and 1932, the Federal reserve allowed the money supply
(Measured by M2) to fall by a third. In particular, Monetarists such as Friedman
criticise the decisions of the Fed not to save banks going bankrupt. They say that
because the money supply fell so much an ordinary recession turned into a major
deflationary depression.
Austrian View
Austrian school of Economists such as Hayek and Ludwig Von Mises place much of
the blame on an unsustainable credit boom in the 1920s. In particular, they point to
the decision to inflate the US economy to try and help the UK remain on the Gold
standard at a rate which was too high. They argue after this unsustainable credit boom
a recession became inevitable. The Austrian school doesn t accept the Friedman
analysis that falling money supply was the main problem. They argue it was the loss
of confidence in the banking
13. Case Study Of Pneumonia And Chronic Pulmonary Disease
Case Study for Pneumonia Our nose and airway filters germs out of the air that we
breathe in order to prevent our lungs from becoming infected. However, when
germs does enters our lungs, it may cause infections such as Pneumonia which
inflames the air sacs of the lungs, which can range from mild case to severe cases.
The air sac may be filled with fluid or pus causing cough that associates with phlegm,
fever, chills and difficulty breathing. The causes of pneumonia are extrinsic and
intrinsic. The extrinsic factors include exposure to pulmonary irritants or pulmonary
injury such as those who works in construction or agriculture. Inhaling dusk,
chemicals and air pollution or toxic fumes can damage your lungs and make them
more vulnerable for infection. Intrinsic factors are related to the host such as stroke,
endotracheal intubation, diabetes, chronic pulmonary disease, human
immunodeficiency or emphysema. Smoking and alcohol abuse could also be a
factor because it damages the cilia in the lungs that help remove bacteria and germs.
Alcohol abuse can put you at risk of aspiration pneumonia especially when you
vomit and the small particles enter your lungs. In addition, alcohol interferes with
the white blood cell production which us responsible in fighting infection in our
body. Types of Pneumonia and Risk Factors There are several types pneumonia and
each are named on how an individual is infected or for the germs that causes it.

ABSTRACT: The various methods of wireless charging are studied. With the
increase in number of people using mobiles, the physical cables used for the
charging of the devices also increased. This increase in demand for the cables led
to the idea of Wireless charging. Wireless charging initially was a novelty but with
the advancement in technology, it has become a mainstream application now.
Experiments have been conducted on the various methods used for the wireless
charging and some of the methods are discussed in the paper. Keywords: wireless

The Lost Boy drawing was influenced by the short story Pali. I chose to do this
project on Pali because, I found this short story the most interesting compared to the
other readings. Plus, once you started reading it, it was hard to stop. The Lost Boy
drawing represents Pali a young boy of a Hindu family. Pali loses his familywhen
they are boarding the lorries to leave the refugee camps. The lorries are represented
in the drawing, because this is where the story of Pali all started. In the drawing, Pali
is the main focal point similar to the short story. Also in the drawing, Pali is raising
his hands and crying for help, Pitaji! Pitaji! (pg. 59), which means father in Hindu. I

Pali is appalled by this, and cries. The social worker states, You are a Hindu boy

Muslim back to Hindu. The Hindu community did not appreciate how Pali still
used Muslim traditions, instead of Hindus. The transition from Muslim back to
Hindu is the hardest since Pali was Muslim from four to eleven years old, which
was most of his life at the time. This also ties in with the drawing of the Muslim
hat versus the Hindu hat, and how the Hindu s and Muslim s are arguing which
religion Pali should be. My image relates to the reference Conflict: Hindus and
Muslims in the book The Indians, because it explains all the differences and
thoughts that each religion has on each other. In Conflict: Hindus and Muslims it
talks about the violence between the religions and how it all started. Similar to the
short story of Pali. Pali shows the conflict on the two religions, by an actual story of
him being Hindu and Muslim. All in all, I really enjoyed reading the story about
Pali, and it really taught me every day struggles of Indians and their religions, Hindu

In the digital world, the concept of direct marketing (especially direct mail) seems
novel. Personally, I love to receive direct marketing messages tailored to my interests
such as Ulta Beauty emailing product recommendations based off of my past
purchases. According to the Direct Marketing Association, direct marketingproduced
$2.05 trillion in sales in 2012 representing roughly 8.7% of U.S. gross domestic
product, (Kalb, 2015). While 8.7% doesn t seem like a large portion of the GDP,
direct marketing driven sales growth continued to outpace overall economic growth

marketing experience more that what they are receiving online or on television.
In addition to personal marketing messages, direct marketing has various mediums to
communicate with target consumers.
A common misconception is that direct marketing is limited to just direct mail.
However, direct marketing simply means direct communication with consumers
regardless of the medium used. According to the DMA, there are several mediums
used for business to business and business to consumer direct marketing.
While e mail is the leading medium, especially for B to B communications, direct
mail is a close second place for B to C communications. According to DMA, the
share of digital channels in the marketing budget is expected to increase from 19%
in 2011 to 21% in 2012. The star of the show is mobile marketing, with an annual
growth rate of more than 50%. Other digital channels, such as social network
marketing, search engine marketing and others will all increase by over 20%,
18. Characteristics Of A Great Teacher
What Makes A Great Teacher
A world without education is a world without knowledge. Teachers play a significant
role in educating the uneducated because it is a rewarding profession. However, it
can only be done if there is dedication, passion, and determination. These are the key
factors that separate a great teacher from a mediocre teacher. A mediocre teacher
enjoys his or her work and is satisfied with their work. Meanwhile a great teacher is
constantly adding and changing their teaching methods to accommodate the needs of
each student. One of the articles that we have read over the course of this semester,
states, ...Great teachers, he concluded, constantly reevaluate what they are doing
(Amanda and Ripley). When I was doing my research a common theme that came up
was the fact that teacher need to constantly evaluate their teaching methods. It is
crucial for teachers to constantly reevaluate their methods and to accommodate the
new changes that are constantly occurring in the world. For example as technology
advances teachers need to have the skills to add technology into their teaching
methods.
QUALITIES OF A GOOD TEACHER
Along with my scholarly research articles, I had the opportunity to interview two of
my former high school teachers Mike Kelly, and Alison Alvarez. Through the

According to John Palmer, this dark irony is essential for the novel s structure. He
states, The Secret Agent is built [...] on the characteristic esthetic tensions of satirical
fiction misunderstandings, dramatic ironies, revealing symbolic parallels and
contrasts, and the like (104). Claire Rosenfield says that Conrad uses an ironic type of
gallows humor to effectively communicate the darkness of the world portrayed in
the novel. Life is so appalling that this humor arrives in the midst of horror, the
point at which despair becomes humorous (121). E. M. W. Tillyard s perspective
differs from that of Rosenfield and Palmer; from his perspective, Conrad keeps his
dreadful story within the bounds of comedy by means of his ironic method (103). His
comments imply that the ironic tone does not effectively convey the sinister darkness
present in the story.
Many critics note that Conrad s irony reflects a pessimistic perspective of the
British society in The Secret Agent. Conrad s perspective is reflective of a society
still reeling from the traumatizing social effects of industrialization. Walter Wright
observes that London s drab streets and barren ugliness reveal the futility of life (189
190), and impersonal fate s destruction of individuals further reveals life s emptiness
(197). From Wright s perspective, the life without control or choice in The Secret
Agent is a life without meaning. Rosenfield
20. Why Is Radiography Important
Why is radiography important in the medical field?
Earlier there was only x ray methods of detecting a disease but things have change,
there are other methods for example imaging or ultrasound methods. Radiology is
also used for treating and diagnosing of various types of injuries or disease. It could
be used to destruct tumors by radiation. Radiography is important in the medical
field because is best practical way to diagnose, monitor treatment and detect
progression or relapse of many of great significance and common diseases in a
minimally invasive and anatomically precise manner. Radiology is now the key
diagnostic tool for many diseases and has an important role in monitoring treatment
and predicting outcome. New knowledge in imaging is being developed at an

Imaging plays a huge role in diagnosis. Specialists are great at recognizing
pathology on imaging related to their area of expertise, but they risk missing subtle
findings that only a radiologist can see. Medical testing is improving by leaps and
bounds. As a radiographer, you may have the opportunity to be trained on the most
cutting edge equipment. You could be right in the middle of patient diagnosis,
working closely with the doctors and patients. Clinicians will often wait for
imaging results before arriving at a diagnosis or deciding on a course of action.
Specialists frequently read their own imaging, but an official read by a radiologist
is always needed. As a radiologic technologist you may be trained to do many
important diagnostic tests, this is because there are many areas of radiography that
you can specialize in this includes mammography, radiotherapy, computed
tomography (CT), fluoroscopy, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). There will
always be risks in your work environment. Since a lot of imaging procedures make

When writing, that Meursault represents the only Christ we deserve Camus is

Throughout the novel, we are exposed to Meursault s robotic, emotionless, hollow

23. Martin Luther s Beliefs On The Catholic Church
During the 1500 s, the Catholic Church established itself as not just the main
religion of Europe, but a powerful, controlling, political organization. The Papacy
or Pope held the highest authority, followed by Cardinals, Archbishops, Bishops,
and Priest. Despite the power of the Catholic Church people were troubled by the
depravity, corruption, and some teachings of Catholicism, which caused
individuals to rebel. German professor Martin Luther was one of the first
individuals to show his dissatisfaction by posting the famous Ninety five Theses on
his church door (Alder Pouwels, 2008, pg: 323). The Ninety five Theses consisted
of various questions and objections to the Popes sovereignty. Luther s devoted
study of scriptures led him to agree with the words of Apostle Paul, Therefore,
since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we
stand, and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God (Romans 5:1 2). The idea of
Christians being justified by faith alone went against the Catholic Church which
Taught humans must manifest their Christian faith by doing good works and leading
good lives (Alder Pouwels, 2008, pg: 323). Luther s knowledge continued to increase
along with his statements and writings. He was able to spread his views to a broad
audience by writing them down on pamphlets and distributing them across the land
which planted the ideas and beginning stages
24. The Argument Of Arts And Culture
Culture is part of our everyday life; it can be anything from sports, food, clothing or
even lifestyle. On the onset, the support of arts and culture should not be limited to
the cultural argument alone, as one cannot deny that arts and culture is important for
the growth of society. Apart from the financial aspect of a society, arts and culture go
a long way towards making the society more holistic.
With this in mind, the author will firstly examine the two different approaches to arts
and culture; namely cultural arguments as opposed to the creative industries or
economic arguments. Secondly, the author will discuss about why arts and culture
should live on and be funded, without putting creative industries approach towards it.

What were the weaknesses in the control environment of Bernard L. Madoff
Investment Securities LLC? The control environment sets the tone of an
organization, influencing the control consciousness of its people. It is the foundation
for all other components of internal control, providing discipline and structure. The
Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO)
published the Internal Control Integrated Framework in 1992. As summarized above
one can see the importance of the implementation of an effective control environment,
as it sets the foundation for the other 4 components of internal control. The control
environment is made up fundamental smaller components. The ones that were
particularly relevant to BMIS are the use of board of directors and audit committee,
management philosophy and operating style, and human resource policies and
practices. If management doesn t prioritize control, then the rest of the organization
will not put precedence on following policies and procedures either. This was clearly
evident at Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (BMIS), and ultimately led
to their downfall. BMIS did not maintain an effective control environment and as a
result it was exposed to many material weaknesses. Specifically it can be determined
that management did not have adequate controls in place to establish and
communicate the importance of control needs from top down. This is largely due to
the fact that the management s

Laurence made a habit of leaving the cabin at first light. He liked the idea that his
mother might be totally oblivious to whether or not he came home at all during the
evening. He had spent the previous day sauntering between the front yard where he
chopped firewood and the shaded cabin deck where he drank cold lemonade. Every
so often, mostly when Laurence was chopping apart the forest wood, an image of the
ranger s scarred and malformed face wandered into his mind. He could not think what
sort of gruesome accident or attack could have caused someone to look so
malevolent. It took most of two days to chop all of the cabin s firewood. During
this time, Mrs. Rayes spent her time alternating between drink and sleep. When
Laurence had chopped all of the cabin s wood, Laurence began to explore the forest
that lined the cabin s yard and that confined the day s light to a small, square patch of
dried grass where upon his quaint cabin stood. In order to mark his passage through
the tangled forest, he made small, triangular gouges in the trunkof every seven or five
or three trees. The ease in which his hatchet cut marks into the limbs of each tree
excited Laurence. With each successive mark, Laurence felt his life made all the
more significant. Without conscience effort, the marks he made in each tree became
deeper and more damaging. Some three hundred yards from the edge of the forest s
wall, Laurence, thinking once more his mother, hacked away at a singular tree until he
29. Why Did The Ku Klux Klan Start
Rough Draft
The Ku Klux Klan was first formed in 1865 and was a movement using violence
and torture to create a clean, pure white America. The KKK was in almost every
southern state and attacked many African Americans in order for white supremacy.
There are specific movements recorded, 1865 to the 1870s, 1915 to 1944, and 1946
to present day. The KKK s starting purpose, actions, and long lasting history have put
a negative outlook on the south.
The Ku Klux Klan had many reasons for why they started. Most white southerners
believed that God created black people for the special purpose of working and
serving white people (Bartoletti, 7). White southerners wanted black people to

Floggings, horrific affairs, were often animalistic assaults that used tree limbs,
leather belts, rawhide whips, heavy wooden canes, branches, sticks, baseball bats,
and even, on at least one occasion, an automobile fan belt (Feldman, 93). Since the
Ku Klux Klan was primarily located in the south, these actions were used in the
south. Communities used these specific actions in order to be successful. These
actions were very harsh and were used to torture African Americans. Floggings
caused welts, bruises, blood clots, bleeding, broken bones, the loss of teeth, and
lengthy hospital stays for many Alabama victims (Feldman, 93). These floggings
caused many injuries to many of the southern African Americans. The KKK used
floggings against the African American so they will do what they say. Floggings
were a very very painful technique to use. Some lapsed into comas, suffered from
nervous breakdowns, or were permanently maimed; at least a few died (Feldman,
93). The KKK was extremely harsh putting people into such dangerous conditions
just to have white supremacy. These actions scared the African Americans into being
afraid of the south and the group primarily doing it known as the Ku Klux Klan. The

animals and their connection to him. The zebra is the first to die at the paws of the
hyena, and stands for Pi s initial fear of the open ocean and the animals on board. The
orangutan, Orange Juice, is said to have been kind, innocent, and maternal,

After the war however a kind of two faced attitude is quickly adopted by the United
States as the Berlin Crisis occurred and fear of espionage was suspected to be on the
rise. (Fitzgerald, p. 32 33) This marked the beginning of the Second Red Scare, a
period of time held within the Cold War itself and seen as a main cause for a very
deep rooted hate towards communism that formed a bitter taste in the mouths of the
American people.
In 1950 the emergence of the Second Red Scare s driving force, Senator Joseph
McCarthy, appeared and gave a speech proclaiming that America will soon be lost to
communism if the people do not stand up to combat it. He revealed that night a list of
205 people working for Soviet Russia in the United States State Department whose
intentions were to mold America from the inside to become a socialist nation.
(Fitzgerald, p. 14) It was thanks to this newfound hysteria that began to break out
thanks to McCarthy s claims that the HUAC and other like minded organizations

Jean Jacques Rousseau was a philosopher in the 18th century who studied the way
children interact with each other in a playful setting. His theories concerning
childhood development have impacted many progressive educational theories still in
use today. However, his work is not supported by the popular childhood theories of
the present age; for example, Rousseau speaks out against imaginative play in his
work Emile, which is currently considered to be a historical milestone in early and
middle childhood research. Rousseau believed that imaginative play would set
children on the road to unhappiness and dissatisfaction throughout life. Though
Rousseau s ideas may be factually inaccurate, his views that are presented in Emile
still impacts childhood... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many childhood theorists have delineated the importance of childhood imaginative
play as it encourages children to differentiate between the world in their heads and the
world outside (Shuffelton, 2012, p. 314). Child theorist Amy Shuffelton (2012)
commented on the importance of imaginative play by stating: Also, children use
imaginative play as a means to gain the emotional competence to handle the various
hurdles life places in their paths. In happier situations, children play out interpersonal
conflicts and thereby become able to resolve the real ones; in horrific situations,
children have used imaginative play as a means to cope with the terrors around them.
(p. 314) Imaginative play encourages children to think outside of the box and
broadens their understanding of the world around them. Current research suggests
that children who consistently use their imaginations and can differentiate between
real and make believe actually end up with higher achievements later in life
(Shuffelton, 2012). Imaginative play can have a long lasting effect on the way a
child develops and should be taken into account by both parents and educators.

34. Localization of Brain Function
Localization of Brain Function
Psychologists have found that the brain often shows localization of function . This
means that different parts of the brain carry out different tasks, for example, vision,
voluntary movement and speech. The idea is that not all parts of the brain do the
same thing, and that each part functions on its own, without the aid of other areas of
the brain. This may seem obvious, but other organs, such as the liver, do not show
localization of function; one part of the liver does the same thing as a part on the
opposite side.
A famous example of brain localization is the case of Phineas Gage; a railway worker
in 1848, who one day, while trying to blow out a hole in the side of a mountain, had

AD suffered cardiac arrest, which damaged his frontal and temporal lobes. The
damage done caused him to alter his personality when in the company of different
people; gaining the patient the nick name The Human Chameleon. When AD was
in the company of lawyers, he would invent a detailed background story to support
his claim of being a lawyer. When in the company of a doctor, he would do the
same but claim to be a doctor. The interesting twist on his case is that AD had
anosognosia; a lack of insight into his odd behavior. This meant that AD truly
believed his own lavish stories. His condition is a form of anterograde amnesia,
which caused him to forget everything prior to the cardiac arrest, thus allowing him
to invent past lives. The case of AD shows that the area that was damaged (the
frontal and temporal lobes) s function was not taken over by another area of the
brain, as AD never regained the memories lost in the accident.
However, psychologists have also found a counter argument for localization of brain
function; and that is brain plasticity. Brain plasticity is the idea that if one part of
the brain stops functioning, another part will take over that role. The idea of brain
plasticity has been around for hundreds of years. The ancient Greeks accepted the
idea, believing that one could train their mind, just like training a body. Around the
time of Galileo, the idea was dismissed, as scientists began to see the world
mechanically, with each object/organ being

After about half an hour into the car ride one of the most shocking moments in

Alaghbari (2010) and Denis (2011) explained that the cost of construction is now
very high, making it difficult for anybody with regular income to save for a

innovative projects in the housing sector for several years. The concept of
replicability as a major consideration of project design dates from the time when
international agencies, especially the World Bank, became involved in the
housing sector in the early 1970s (Cohen, 1983). It was envisaged that if unit costs
could be reduced to levels which low income households could afford, the burden
of subsidy would be reduced and it would be possible to repeat projects to the level
required, within existing budgetary resources. This paper provides a general
perspective on the Concept of Pricing, Affordability, Cost Recovery and

dimensional attributes that combine together to give a certain price. It can also be

According to Reid, counter myth is the reinterpretations of old myths in terms the
society now recognizes those ideas (Hexham, counter myths, 27 Jan 2016). Myths
are stories that affect people s lives as described Irving Hexham and Karla Poewe
in the book New Religions as Global Cultures (Hexham Poewe 1997, 174). Hexham
and Poewe aver that The importance of myths lie not with the particular qualities of
the story itself, but with the use which is made of the story. When a story acts upon
the imagination of an individual or collectivity in such a powerful way that it begins
to shape their lives, moulding their thoughts and directing their actions (Hexham
Poewe 1997,175). Trump s statement is representing counter myth in action; Trump
is using the action of some extremists to reinterpreting the idea of all Muslims being
violent, that all Muslims hate America to serve his political agenda. The message he
is sending out, whether or not its true is changing the basic beliefs about Americans
toward Muslims. These beliefs are bound to influence their actions and can provoke a
reaction that otherwise would not be a norm.
I believe that such views will have damaging effects on social life and relations
between people. People rely on their personal beliefs, myths, to shape their thoughts
about other individuals and communities. Redefining these views, counter myths,

that relieves pain and other symptoms. In other words, the placebo effect is the
biochemical consequence of a symbolic suggestion , it is a belief that predicts the
result. Whether it is placebo vs nocebo (inverse effect), it is always the hope aroused
by the substance (...) that provokes a reaction (Bernie Siegel). The placebo effect
illustrates the influence of positive beliefs ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is easy to see that these beliefs predict what will happen: if I am convinced that I
will never succeed, I show less determination, less motivation, and, after an attempt or
two, I give everything up which only confirm my thought: I knew I would not
succeed! With this belief, the result was predictable.
As Henry Ford would say: If you think you can do a thing or think you cannot do a
thing, you are right.
The following exercise will help you change your beliefs. Its principle : o Choose a
new belief; o Act as if it was true; o Become aware of that it became true and that it
acts as such.
Exercise # 12 : I Bend My Strict Rules
1.Express your restricted beliefs and rules.
2.Express a new rule that contradicts the old one.
3.Make a list of actions representing your new rule that you will follow.
4.Make sure to take some time to do these
40. Immanuel Kant On Morality
oAccording to Kant, morality is doing the right thing just because you know it s
the right thing. Is that true? o oI believe it is true. Doing the right thing without
expecting anything in return is acting freely. If I understood correctly, the goal is
to follow a moral standard and always doing the right thing regardless of the
consequences. o oKant imagines a shopkeeeper who does not overcharge his
customers only because he fears that word of his dishonesty will spread and he ll
lose money, Kant thinks there s nothing morally worthy about his action; his honesty
is mere prudence, mere selfishness. Do you agree? Why or Why not? oI think the
shopkeeper s actions can be moral even though the final outcome is beneficial for not

41. Turkey Hunting
This weekend I am going turkey hunting with my cousin Mitchell, his friend Riley
and my father. I wish to get a turkey this year, preferably a tom, which means full
grown male, than a jake, or an immature male. I ve never gotten a turkey before,
even though I love hunting. Then, to honor the fishing opener this weekend I wish
to go fishing, because that is also something I enjoy. Then on Sunday we are
planning to go walking at Quarry Park Nature Reserve in Saint Cloud for Mothers
Day. I would like to go swimming there but, I believe that the water will be too cold
to swim in, even though it is supposed to be warm on Sunday. I hope to see some
different wildlife that I usually don t see at home, though that might be difficult
because I live
42. Epiphany In Miss Brill
Ms. Brill Essay In the short story Miss Brill the protagonist, Miss Brill, is a lonely
and isolated woman who likes to spend her Sunday afternoon s in the park observing
everyone around her and listening to their conversations without them knowing. We
can infer that Miss Brill has created her own fantasy world to escape the harsh
reality of her own life. At the end of the story the audience can come to the
conclusion that Miss Brillexperienced an epiphany that will change her life.
Today epiphany has many different definitions and is udes in many different ways,
including an intuitive grasp of reality, an illuminating discovery, realization,
disclosure, or insight, or simply a revealing scene or moment, a moment of sudden or

Another indication that Miss Brill has an epiphany is when Miss Brill puts away
her fur. She unclasped the necklet quickly; quickly, without looking, laid it inside.
But when she put the lid on it she thought she heard something crying (page 4).
This represents her putting away her fantasy world and her fantasies about being
an actress. In the beginning of the story, Miss Brill takes her fur out of a box and
brushes its coat, polishes its eyes, and talks to the fur as if it s a living thing. This
shows the audience her poor mental state and how lonely she really is. The
narrator tells us that Miss Brill liked the way the fur s eyes looked sad at her and
how soft the fur was. By the way that the narrator describes the fur as old and
shabby, and the way that Miss Brill cares for the fur we understand that the fur
represents Miss Brill and her fantasy world. It is also inferred that the crying sound
is Miss Brill herself. Also Miss Brill putting away her fur is representative of her loss
of innocence and her gaining insight to what her life is really like.
A fourth indication that Miss Brill has an epiphany is when Miss Brill goes home
and sits on her bed silently thinking to herself. It can be concluded that Miss Brill
has another epiphany of how no one really cares for her and how alone she really is
just by sitting in this room. The author describes
43. Counter Culture
Popular culture as a whole has always been both a driving force and a reflection of
the values of any particular society, increasingly so since the invention and
dispersion of Radio, TV, the Internet, and now social media. However, it seems as if
today, more so than ever, that pop culture is spreading and promoting ideas that are
counterproductive to society as a whole. Music in particular is one area within
popular culturethat has a tremendous impact on society. Music can easily get stuck
in your head and most people listen to their favorite songs over and over, so if these
songs are promoting anti social behavior then it can be a serious problem for society.
Rap/hip hop music has rapidly become one of the most popular genres of music

I think that the corporate side of music plays into the fact that Solomon mentions,
deep down, we all wish that we could be the star quarterback or head cheerleader.
(Solomon 543). So they promote music that plays to this subconscious desire
within us all that we all want the most or best of everything: The best cars, the
most money, the biggest houses, prettiest women, the best drugs, etc. The
consumers embrace this kind of music because we all have that attitude inside of
us and hearing someone else talk about it makes us think that either we already
have it, or need to get it. So it is an endless cycle fueled by money and desire by
both the corporate side of music and the consumer side. The corporations want more
money so they promote music that they know will sell, and they know it will sell
because the consumers want more money too so they listen to music that makes them
feel like they have
44. The Integrated Action Of Skeletal Muscles
The muscular system is composed of specialized cells called muscle fibers. Their
predominant function is contractibility. Muscles, attached to bones or internal organs
and blood vessels, are responsible for movement. Nearly all movement in the body is
the result of muscle contraction. Exceptions to this are the action of cilia, the
flagellumon sperm cells, and amoeboid movement of some white bloodcells.
The integrated action of joints, bones, and skeletal muscles produces obvious
movements such as walking and running. Skeletal muscles also produce more subtle
movements that result in various facial expressions, eye movements, and respiration.
In addition to movement, muscle contraction also fulfills some other important
functions in the
46. Sylvia Plath s Daddy Essay
Sylvia Plath s poem, Daddy, is a confessional poem that addresses an unknown
speaker s appalling relationship with her father. Plath s unmistakable use of
allusions enable her readers to have a clear understanding of what life was, and is,
like with the speaker s overbearing father. She describes him as all powerful,
Godlike, and the speaker soon reveals that she intends to kill him. However, before
she has the chance, he dies on his own. His death leaves the speaker with unresolved
feelings towards him that are later converted to her surrogate father, her husband,
until she finds the courage to free herself from his control. Throughout the poem,
Plath reveals several representations that were relevant to her own life that suggest
her and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She includes references to the Holocaust such as: a barb wire snare...an engine,
and engine/ Chuffing me off like a Jew...Dachau, Auschwitz, Belson et cetera
(Plath 291). Plath explained, It was her German and Austrian heritage...that led to
the imagery of concentration camps and so on in her poetry (Ferretter 112).
According to Dunn, the references to such a severe occurrence in history was
enough to decode Plath s theme. ...the darkness of the Holocaust imagery suggest
the desperation of the speaker s situation and hint at the trauma she must undergo
to free herself from it (1). Throughout Daddy the speaker utilizes her father s
culture to compare their relationship to that of two groups that will forever be
remembered as the tyrant and the victim. The speaker identifies herself with a Jew
and her father with a tormenting Nazi. She goes on to describe her life by saying, I
have lived like a foot/ For thirty years, poor and white/ Barely daring to breathe or
Achoo (Plath 290). Plath s inclusion of this detail informs the readers of how
fragile the speaker has become over the course of her life due to the ongoing
oppression placed on her by her late father. According to Sander Gilman, the flat or
weak feet of Jews were seen as a sign of their badly formed, or weak characters
(Narbeshuber 200). The treatment she received from the memory of her
47. Write An Essay About Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol was a famous artist known for creating rather odd popular culture art
that really posed the question at the time about what was the actual definition of
fine art. He was born in the 1920s, and his career spanned the decades of the 1960s
through the 1980s. Warhol started his career in New York as a commercial
illustrator and it seems was quite content with his career in the communications
/marketing industry. He eventually did try to become an artist and reportedly had
trouble breaking into the fine art scene, but he was able to break in with likely the
biggest statement of all and one that was brand new to the art scene of his time. His
message was that all of his art both written and drawn were his way to prove that all...

His mass production reportedly was a metaphor for the mass commercialism of that
time, and his move from art creation to marketing seemed to also mimic the mass
production and new technology explosion that was occurring during his time.
Warhol was a peculiar individual who was quite reserved and quiet due this rather
secluded childhood years, and so it was not easy for the public to delve into his
mindset with regard to what his art represented and what he was trying to accomplish
in his many artistic endeavors according to Empty Easel.com, ...if you could
somehow ask him, I think Andy Warholwould probably say that all of it,
EVERYTHING he did, was art. References

48. How Does Achebe Show Medicine
Achebe admires the herbal medicine in chapters 9 and 10. He shows how the
medicine works almost all the time. For example, when enzima is sick, okonkwo
was gathering things to prepare and cook the medicine for her. He then put her
head over the steaming medicine and trapped her in the steam. She didn t like it
and started to cry. After the treatment she fell asleep. This tell us and shows us how
achebe appreciates the herbal medicine and understand how it works. He shows us
it working to give us a fell of what it s like. Achebe doesn t believe in and does not
like the medicine man. In the book, the medicine man comes when ekwefi s children
keep dying. He declares them as ogbanje children when the second one dies. He has
a spiritual way when
49. The Squire s Tale Essay
The Squire s Tale
The Squire s tale ends two lines into its third section, and
following this abrupt termination is the wordes of the Frankeleyn to the
Squier. The Franklin praises the young Squire s attempt at a courtly
romance and says that he wishes his own son was more like the Squire. This
is followed by the wordes of the Hoost to the Frankeleyn. Many critics
believe that the words of the Franklin to the Squire are intended as an
interruption of the tale that threatens to go on far too long. However, I
believe the words of the Franklin to the Squire were not meant to be an
interruption at all. There are four main reasons why I believe the passage
was not meant to be an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, interrupting someone in the middle of his speech would be
something a person with gentillesse would be hesitant to do. The arguments
that the Franklin s actions were rescuing the Squire from an awkward
predicament (Specht 154) in which his tale was threatening to go on far
too long point out that in such a scenario the Franklin s actions would be
a masterpiece of tact (Spearing, 7). I would argue with this theory for
two reasons. First of all, the Squire gives no indication he wishes to be
rescued. In his tale at the end of telling of Canace and the magic ring,
he proceeds to say he will tell how the other three gifts affected the
lives of other characters. Clearly the Squire could have cut his story
short then if he had been so inclined. Therefore I do not think it is fair
to claim the Franklin was rescuing the Squire. Secondly, if the Franklin
50. were indeed interrupting the Squire to end his story, he could have
apologized for interrupting. Obviously the Squire has not completed his
tale, he has just announced he has three more parts and is two lines into
the telling of the next section. For the Franklin to begin speaking at
this point he would clearly be interrupting the Squire. To preserve
gentillesse it would be necessary for him to apologize for the break in.
One or two lines saying he was sorry to interrupt
51. Similarities Between African American And Latinos
In the United States of America, we have the opportunity to socialize with many
different racial groups in our communities. The groups that are always interacting
with one another and have different and similarities are he African American and
Latinos. In this country the African American and Latinos are oppressed in society.
In this two very distinguished cultures were able to experience different outcomes by
