The Broward County Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge will be awarding the 2015-2016 George Washington Honor Award to Amy DeCelle, an extremely dedicated teacher from Broward County, at a ceremony on November 2nd. Amy DeCelle has been teaching for 17 years and has achieved 100% student learning gains through innovative teaching and her curriculum. She also volunteers with organizations like the Broward Education Foundation. Broward County Chapter nominated her from thousands of recommendations, and a panel of judges chose her as the award recipient.

ONE BROWARD TEACHER AFFECTS 1,000s TO CREATE A BETTER TODAY
The Broward County Chapter of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge will be awarding
Amy DeCelle an extremely dedicated Broward County Teacher who has been awarded the
Teacher/Administrator 2015-2016 George Washington Honor Award from 1000s of nominees.
This esteemed award will be presented at 8:30 A.M. on Monday November 2, 2015 at
Tropical Elementary located at 1500 SW 66th Ave, Plantation, FL 33317 in the media
center. Surprising her at this ceremony will be 100’s of previous students, parents,
Foundation members, Broward County School Board Members and the Broward County
School Superintendent Mr. Runcie, whom Amy DeCelle identifies as the mentor who
motivates and inspires her to continue her mission and “Strive for Excellence”.
Amy DeCelle has been verified as an individual who positively and continuously influences
students, their parents, teachers, community leaders, and various Foundations through her
innovative teaching, as she creates her own curriculum, achieving standard mastery both
socially and cognitively with seventeen years of 100 % student learning gains. Amy DeCelle’s
students’ are continuously motivated to be the best he or she can be. This is done through her
creation “Acting in Kindness”, which reinforces Broward County’s Character Traits. Her
students learn to value each person’s contributions, which helps them become cognizant of the
world around “us” and value one another.
Volunteering for Foundations such as the Broward Education Foundation, which supports
Broward County Education has solidified her altruistic nature. Amy takes on leadership roles
through creating and facilitating grant workshops, crafting rubrics for teacher and student
success, generating surveys to obtain qualitative and quantitative data which allows her to
reflect on the effectiveness of the trainings.
Broward County Chapter nominated her for this award. However, a local panel of
distinguished judges chose her as our award recipient from thousands of
recommendations from Miami, Broward and Palm Beach County School Districts.
Amy’s high-energy, creativity, and altruistic nature is hypnotic and inspires those around her,
proven by 17 successful years educating our youth, socially, cognitively, and emotionally.
Her effectiveness and leadership in the community has not gone unnoticed and her devotion
to help create socially and academically successful environments should be the standard for
educational leadership.
