Broward County Superintendent Robert Runcie visited second grade teacher Amy DeCelle's classroom at Tropical Elementary School. DeCelle had received over $9,000 in grants from the Broward Education Foundation over the last four years for her programs, including "Fun with Words" which earned her $1,000. Runcie was impressed by her use of the grants and hosted a literacy event in her classroom with children's author Andrew Toffoli, who donated books. Teachers in Broward County can receive grants from the Foundation for creative classroom activities that help students achieve more.

PLANTATION, Fla. (WSVN) -- A Broward County elementary school teacher's use of awarded
grant money has attracted the attention of Superintendent Robert Runcie.
Runcie visited second grade teacher Amy DeCelle's classroom at Tropical Elementary School.
She received more than $9,000 in grants from the nonprofit Broward Education Foundation
over the last four years. One of her programs, "Fun with Words" has now earned her classroom
more than $1,000 to use toward teaching her students.
Runcie was so impressed by DeCelle's use of the grants that he visited her classroom Monday
morning to host a literacy event there. Children's author Andrew Toffoli donated books for the
event.
Teachers recently received grants from the Broward Education Foundation, which awards grants
to teachers who help students achieve more with creative classroom activities in the Broward
County School District.
