This document summarizes biological monitoring of the Wichita River in Wichita Falls, Texas. It describes the purpose of collecting data on fish and macroinvertebrates before and after a reverse osmosis water treatment plant began discharging brine into the river. Samples were taken at three sites along the river and identified various species of insects, crustaceans, fish and other aquatic life found at each location. The results did not find any statistically significant changes or impacts from the brine discharge. Further monitoring will continue to evaluate any potential effects on the biological communities over time.
