this is a short film review of a comedy film.

1. Review
The short film I had picked is called The Ellington Kid. It’s short, quick and
amazing in all sorts of ways. The genre of this film is comedy. Personally I think
the story could’ve been made more over exaggerated to make it more exciting
and entertaining overall the film was good but not enough exploration in the
genre area were made, it did make us laugh however the genre was comedy and
it was just normal type of comedy which not many people would find interesting
or funny. The camera angles and shots were used perfectly we had got a wide
range of different shots. Their wasn’t really any use of sound effects digetic or
non digetic, which could have been used. However overall it did link to the genre
comedy because it made me laugh from how it all started. Credits were
presented well at the end also and character’s were good at their roles.
The setting of this short film is based in a take away shop where a short story is
told based what happened in that shop. The main plot of the short film is two
friends eat from that take away shop and one of the two friends teases the guy
who is eating meat from the store that its human meat. The main plot of the film
is the guy eating the meat gets scared and put off his food. One thing I enjoyed
about this short film is that the story told by the guy to the other guy eating the
burger is that he made it so believable the trick had done the job and got the
other guy put off his food. In the first scene we get a shot of the take away shop
where the plot is set.

2. Review
Here we meet the two main character’s and get a shot of both of them. 2in1 shot
angle. This shows and introduces to us that we are meeting the two main
character’s.
Here we are being introduced to the main character telling the story through
over the shoulder shot which really focuses us on him as we know he is speaking.
Here we are being shown the guy eating the burger through another over the
shoulder shot as has eating this is now where the story is going to be told to
make him be put off his food. The reason as to the guy that we’ve got an over
shoulder view of is telling the guy eating the burger a story to put him off his
food is because he took his chip, that’s why it is funny and from there we
understand the genre of the film is comedy.

3. Review
This is where the guy starts telling the story of a guy getting stabbed and running
into the take away shop they’re eating at now.
We then get a shot of the gang who are looking to stab this guy.
We then get a close angle shot of the owners face which we can analyse and see
in depth that smile he has on his face which makes us believe something is going
to happen.
What makes its funny is that the guy is still enjoying his burger regardless of the
story about the guy about to get killed.

4. Review
At this point he’s now engaged through story and is paying attention as to what’s
being said we can tell from the close up shot and facial expressions tension is
rising within his body.

5. Review
I find this bit funny as the guy then asks what happens the close shot angle of the
narrator of the story has a serious face and drops a line saying “use your
imagination why do you think I’m only eating the chips.” This makes the
audience laugh as we come to a conclusion all tat story was to put the guy odd
his burger and hints they used them humans for the meat.
Close up facial expressions here as we see he has a serious and stunned face on
him because he believes the story which make it funny and links back to the
genre its comedy.
We then have a bit of a laugh at the end because the owner of the take away
store that the guy playing the prank was talking about, this guy was involved in
the story and looking at them in that way as if it were true that they do use
humans to cook their meat! Overall the short clip was funny and made us laugh
the camera angles helped us engage in it more also.
