5. could is used to express possibility or past ability
Afirmative form :
Subject +could+verb+ compl.
you could study yesterday
Negative form :
Subject+ couldn t + verb+ compl.
you couldn t study yesterday
Interrogative form :
Modal verb +subject+verb+ compl.

6. We use the modal verbs "may" and "might" to talk
about possible activities or happenings in the
future
Affirmative: subjec + might + verb+ compl.
It may rain this afternoon.
Negative: subject + might not + verb+ compl.
He might not miss the train if he doesn’t hurry.
Interrogative: might+ subject+ verb+ compl.
May I use your telephone?
7. Must" is most commonly used to express certainty.
It can also be used to express necessity or strong
recommendation, "Must not" can be used to prohibit
actions, but this sounds very severe.
Affirmative: subject + must + verb
You must tell the truth
Negative: subject + must not / musn't + verb
You musn`t be tired
questions: must + subject + verb?
Must I go at the hospital?
8. Should" is most commonly used to make
recommendations or give advice. It can also be
used to express obligation as well as
expectation.
Afirmativa: subject + should + verb
She should be here by 9.00
Negativa: subject + should not + verb
I shouldn`t eat in class
questions: should + subject + verb
Should you visit me?
9. Ought to" is used to advise or make
recommendations. "Ought to" also expresses
assumption or expectation as well as strong
probability
Afirmative: subject + ought + verb
You ought to call your mother.
Negative: subject + ought not + verb
You ought not smoke so much
questions: ought + subject + verb
Ought you smoke here?
