The Present Simple Tense
We use the present simple to talk about:
• habits and routines
  I play volleyball on Sundays.

• a permanent situation or fact
   I live in Degirmenlik.

• timetables and schedules
   Our English lesson starts at 8.35 on Mondays.
The third person form of the
present simple
• Add –s to the verb.
  I cook.          He cooks.

• Add –es (after –ch, -ss, -sh or –o).
  They watch . She watches.

• take away –y, then add-ies (after verbs ending
  with –y after a consonant).
   I study.         He studies.
The Present Continuous Tense
We use the present continuous to talk about:

• Things that are happening now.
  My mother is making a delicous cake.

• Annoying behaviour with always.
  He is always using my pencil.

• Arrangements in the future.
  We are flying to Ankara in April.
The present participle –ing
• Add –ing to the verb.
   I watch.          She is watching.
• When verbs end with –e, take away –e then add
  -ing.
    I leave.         They are leaving.
• When verbs have one vowel followed by –m, -g,
  -p or –t, double the final consonant, then add –
  ing.
   You stop.          They are stopping.
