This document discusses effective family engagement in early childhood education programs. It defines family engagement as an ongoing, reciprocal partnership between families and early education programs that enhances child and family well-being. It identifies six key factors of effective family engagement, including encouraging family participation in decision making, two-way communication, collaborating to exchange knowledge, supporting at-home learning, valuing learning at home, and ensuring teacher training. The project aims to bring attention to the importance of family engagement, identify best practices, and advance state policies to increase engagement in state-funded pre-K programs.
