Implementation:
Work with principal, parent liaison, and Office of Title I
Determined funding and budget
Create vision and floor plan
Work with parent liaison
Order materials and determine resources needed
Create inventory as supplies arrive (also work with janitor)
Contact local organizations, ie. BCCC, BCPL, BCPS parent university,
apartment complexes, etc.
Arrange room to prepare for workshops and organize materials

Inquisitive, asking for help, awareness for next school year

Teachers receive PD at start of school year
Continued exposure to vision of increased parent involvement
More resources available for teachers in resource room to expose
students to resources parents could use at home

Utilization of Parent Resource Room:
Ability to use room for improved parent involvement for years to come
Long range plan, detailed steps, constant revision through
maintained focus on the vision
Emphasis on continued effort at getting parents involved and helping
those in need
Teacher Resources
Teachers will provide feedback about resources they need to better
help families and improve student performance
Improved Home/School Relationship

What have I learned?
The necessity of developing leaders within the school
Shared responsibility
Reduced workload, teacher involvement
The importance of revisiting and revising the vision of the school
Lacking parent involvement, don’t place blame, what else can we
try?
Don’t make assumptions!

Difficulty with communication, ideas not truly carried out
Vision not supported by funding, need to be more realistic
Teacher displacement
Purchasing and inventory, some funds initially unaccounted for
