The Kansas Strengthening Families plan was initiated by the Kansas Children's Cabinet to prevent child abuse and neglect. Over 80 stakeholders including a 14-member leadership team developed a strategic plan, materials, and website to support community planning. The plan capitalizes on the Children's Cabinet's role as a neutral convener and integrates prevention efforts into existing systems and programs. Challenges include the time needed to develop new partnerships, guide progress, integrate projects, and evaluate systems-level versus program-level changes.
