Introduction
PUF insulation is the acronym for polyurethane foam
insulation.
Foam insulation are produced by filling the void of any
insulating material by an insulating gas. For normal uses
usually air is filled in the polymeric material as the insulating gas. It is a plastic-based type
of insulation that has high thermal properties but allows for very minimal air infiltration.
These are supposed to be sprayed on the surfaces intended to be insulated. The material
which is in liquid form inside the container becomes solid once it comes in contact with air.
This conversion from liquid to solid causes the trapping of air inside the solid.
The conductivity of PU is small, but if used as continuous media,
could lead to a larger thermal contact area and thus giving rise to
larger heat in leak.
For this reason PUF is preferred over using continuous polymer
layers.
The thermal conductivity of PUF is usually in the range of 50mW/mK.
PUFs are used for thermal, acoustic and other insulation purposes.
PUF panels consist of a rigid core sandwiched between sheet
metal structural boards. PUF insulated sandwich panels
integrate joists and studs, insulation, vapor and air barriers.
Easy to install and affordable, the typical applications of PUF
insulated panels include exterior wall, roof, and foundation
systems of industrial and commercial buildings, cold storages,
warehouses and prefab structures.

USES OF PUF PANELS
