ABSTRACT
The overall capacity of the small cell network can be enhanced with the
enabling technology of 3D hybrid beamforming. It can be done through
the implementation of a real time testbed using a software-defined
radio (SDR) platform and fabricated antenna array. we also investigate
system-level performances to verify the gain of the proposed smart
small cell system over long term evolution (LTE) systems by performing
system-level simulations based on a 3D ray-tracing tool.
REQUIREMENTS FOR 5G STANDARD TO FULLFILL
 Data rates >100 mbps in urban areas
 1 Gbps for offices
 simultaneous connections for wireless sensors
 Spectral efficiency significantly enhanced
 Coverage improved
 Latency reduced

 Full duplex
• Beamforming or spatial filtering is a signal processing technique
used in sensor arrays for directional signal transmission or
reception.
• Hybrid beamforming = (analog + digital) beamforming.
• Analog beamforming maximizes avg SNR
• Digital beamforming provides spatial multiplexing.
• We go for hybrid beamforming to reduce RF chains and complexity
and it also reduce cost.
BEAMFORMING
• The proposed 3D hybrid beamforming
system can enhance the area spectral
efficiency of the 5G small cell network
tremendously.
• 3D hybrid beamforming system consists
M RF chains and N antenna elements.
Smart small cell concept
• small cells are low-powered cellular radio
access nodes.
• It is proposed particularly for millimetre
wave communications.
• Mobile operators use them to extend
their service coverage.
• In this article they examined link and system level performances of the proposed
smart small cell system
• link level – software defined radio(SDR) testbed
• System level – 3D ray tracing based simulation
• Here they calculated the SNR and beam weight and average data rates for the
system.
Evaluation results
CONCLUSION
This article has proposed a smart small cell concept to play a key role in supporting
5G networks. Based on the measured data through the SDR testbed, authors also
performed 3D ray-tracing based system-level simulations to investigate the system-
level potential gain of the proposed smart small cell system.

  • 3. ABSTRACT The overall capacity of the small cell network can be enhanced with the enabling technology of 3D hybrid beamforming. It can be done through the implementation of a real time testbed using a software-defined radio (SDR) platform and fabricated antenna array. we also investigate system-level performances to verify the gain of the proposed smart small cell system over long term evolution (LTE) systems by performing system-level simulations based on a 3D ray-tracing tool.

  • 6. • Beamforming or spatial filtering is a signal processing technique used in sensor arrays for directional signal transmission or reception. • Hybrid beamforming = (analog + digital) beamforming. • Analog beamforming maximizes avg SNR • Digital beamforming provides spatial multiplexing. • We go for hybrid beamforming to reduce RF chains and complexity and it also reduce cost.   • 7. • The proposed 3D hybrid beamforming system can enhance the area spectral efficiency of the 5G small cell network tremendously. • 3D hybrid beamforming system consists M RF chains and N antenna elements.
  • 8. Smart small cell concept • small cells are low-powered cellular radio access nodes. • It is proposed particularly for millimetre wave communications. • Mobile operators use them to extend their service coverage.
  • 9. • In this article they examined link and system level performances of the proposed smart small cell system • link level – software defined radio(SDR) testbed • System level – 3D ray tracing based simulation • Here they calculated the SNR and beam weight and average data rates for the system.

  • 14. CONCLUSION This article has proposed a smart small cell concept to play a key role in supporting 5G networks. Based on the measured data through the SDR testbed, authors also performed 3D ray-tracing based system-level simulations to investigate the system- level potential gain of the proposed smart small cell system.
