Howard Gardner s Analysis
Howard Gardner s has a list of eight multiple intelligences, in which he believes that each person has
innate strengths that our school system needs to support and teach to so that the students are best able
to absorb the material. Gardner says that we must change our teaching method to student centered
because it is teacher centered. In order to reach each of the eight student to embody and learn how to
dance. Gardner describes linguistic intelligence as the adept use of language. I interpreted this as the
use of language or metaphors to help understand what is being said to the students to bring out the best
qualities of the student. I would reach the student by approaching them with the language and give
them guidance and directions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By allowing the students to work by themselves, shows the personal development they have come
from the beginning of not knowing how to dance at all and achieve their intentions of learning how to
dance. Naturalist intelligence is the ability to discern patterns in nature. I also found this concept hard
to grasp in the form of teaching how to dance. However, I believe that I could teach students how to
dance by explaining that dancing is a natural form of exercise. Dancing is the self care of one s body
and helping a person getting into shape. By learning how to dance, it can help a student with
knowledge of different form of dances. Gardner s eight multiple intelligences is helpful in
understanding that people have different methods of intelligence and learning styles. By learning the
different types of intelligences, also helps me understand what my strengths and weaknesses are so I
could work on improving that particular intelligence or by just acknowledging

How Does Tim O Brien Show Courage
The brave die never, though they sleep in dust: Their courage nerves a thousand living men (Minor J.
Savage). Bravery, is a noun. It s a behavior that one displays through an action. Everyone has a
different way of showing bravery and there are many ways of showing this kind of behavior. It s not
just want you do to show that you are brave, it s also what you say. Tim O Brien shows readers how
his characters in stories, that he s written based on his own experience, display different acts of
bravery. Vietnam literature proves that Vietnam was bravery.
Courage is another word for bravery, it s a synonym. O Brien uses the word courage in different parts
of If I Die in a Combat Zone. He claims that, Courage is nothing to laugh at, not if it is proper courage
and exercised by men who know what they do is proper. Proper courage is wise courage (Page 130).
Courage showed in this story, used quite a few times throughout the story but mainly towards the end
of the book. O Brien uses the word courage as an action. Only certain people show courage and that s
what he s telling us here. If a soldier knows how to use courage the right way, they are using wise
courage. Tim O Brien stated that, For courage, according to Plato is one of the four parts of virtue. It is
there with temperance, justice, and wisdom, and all parts are necessary to make the sublime human
being (Page 140). When Tim O Brien mentions courage again he is talking about how Plato thought of
it. Plato thought of

Cultural Anthropology Suicide Anthropology
Suicide is a controversial topic that is effecting more and more people everyday. People all around the
world have to undergo stress and anxiety as a result of a difficult situation. It was found that people
who take care for their chronically ill family members, go through extreme stressful and anxious
behaviour. Along with this stressful and anxious behaviour, people succumb to the unfortunate result
of mental health problems. Mental problems was not only found with people who have ill family
members, but also with people who have instability in their lifestyle. Over the years, suicide rates have
increased by sixteen percent. Commissions are trying to find indicators of suicide and about how
people are dealing with this mentally. The commissions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Psychologists would benefit from this article because they can try to understand what triggers the
downward spiral that results to suicide. A psychologist would ask what triggers a suicidal thought and
how does it become gradually worse to conclude to suicide? Does it involve being in a certain type of
situation and is there an indicator that allows people to know when someone is in pain? A behavioural
psychologist is someone who uses experimentation and other sources to understand and change human
behaviour. This type of psychologist would benefit from this article because they can try to understand
the mental triggers that lead to suicide, and can manipulate certain lifestyles to see if it will result into
a different outcome. When someone comes to the thought of committing suicide, this usually means
that this person is some sort of mental pain. In this article, it was found that stress and anxiety had lead
people to committing suicide, and the numerous amounts of situations that was found to lead to
suicide (The Canadian Press, 2015). As a behavioural psychologist they can try to better understand
the types of behaviours that can lead to suicide and help people to identify when someone is suffering.
A research method a behavioural psychologist would use is naturalistic observation. Naturalistic
observation is when a psychologist observes people in their natural environment for research

Implementing A Debt Education Program
An Alternative Solution to Fit Our Goals and Utilizing Available Resources
Alternatively, more cost effective options are available, considering that the resources are already at
our disposal. After careful consideration and investigating different options, we need the assistance of
your division to reach as many students as possible, by promoting the tools and services that are
available to assist our student s financial needs.
Student Affairs is appealing to Student Life for assistance because of your already strong relationships
and outreach programs with students. While your department has the reputation of directly involving

We are appealing to your division as Student Life is already at the forefront of the student s lives. We
need your assistance to help make our students become knowledgeable about the tools they can use to
manage their finances. Student Life is already involved with our freshman at orientation and we would
appreciate if you can incorporate 15 to 30 minutes into the orientation presentation about what
financial tools and services the university has to offer. We might not want to disseminate too much
information at orientation, as it might seem overwhelming at that point to the students. We only want
to bring these resources to our student s attention, informing them about upcoming events for money
management throughout the year.
We can reach other students that we do not connect with at orientation, through online promotions,
such as Facebook and Twitter, on campus advertising, word of mouth, and events about developing
money management skills. Again, the relevant marketing material is already at our disposal through
CashCourse®, however, we need the assistance of your team to help distribute and advertise the
services.
Facilitating Events:
Another interesting feature through CashCourse® is that they offer scavenger hunts. Student life could
promote the scavenger hunt and assist with the execution of the events. The goal is to help students
become familiar with the program throughout each

Negative and Positive Liberty Essay
Negative and positive liberty are best understood as distinct values within Berlin s own scheme of
value pluralism. While an increase in either is desirable, ceteris paribus, attempting to maximize any
single idea of liberty without regard to any other values necessarily entails absurd and clearly
undesirable conclusions; any sensible idea of jointly maximizing freedom in general, therefore, must
acknowledge the tradeoffs inherent in increasing one aspect of freedom or another. The tension here is
akin to the familiar tradeoff between equity and efficiency concerns in economics; negative and
positive freedom are not diametrically opposed, but the two ideals may not be individually maximized
at the same time.
Berlin defines an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Any meaningful acknowledgement of the merits of negative liberty requires that some minimal area of
control be left to private, individual actors.
On the other hand, Berlin claims that negative freedom is not, in any logically prior sense, connected
with democracy or self government (177). While acknowledging that self government may happen to
best preserve negative liberty in practice when compared to alternative regimes, Berlin notes that there
exists no a priori reason to believe this should necessarily be the case. In other words, even if we
explicitly grant that society s goal should be to maximize negative liberty, the optimality of democracy
is not guaranteed by any sound line of reasoning. Thus, selection of the most befitting governance
structure is subject to scrutiny as an empirical issue.
By contrast, the positive sense of the word liberty derives from the [individual s] wish ... to be his own
master (178). Exponents of positive liberty focus on internal factors rather than external actors by
painting the self as essentially divided, typically into a higher and lower self. The higher of these
selves, distinguished perhaps by rationality or length of outlook, represents in some sense the true
realization of an individual s potential, nature, or entity. This being is marked by possessing full self
consciousness, bearing full responsibility for one s choices, and not being a slave to one s nature or

Dream Argument In Groundhog Night
Are individuals actually experiencing the external world, or could it be that they are in a deep state of
permanent sleep. Are you the reader, as you read these words positive that you are wide awake? Or is
this merely an illusion, a dream? How can one determine whether he is undeniably not dreaming?
This Philosophical question was presented in Descartes first meditation where he introduced dreams
that get individuals to confuse both dreaming and waking state. Descartes explains in his text; I have
been tricked by exactly similar thoughts while asleep!...I see plainly that there are never any sure signs
by means of which being awake can be distinguished from being asleep. (Descartes, 1996).

Comparing The Seneca Falls Convention And The Declaration...
Throughout history, courageous people have stood up and worked hard to bring people together and
make change. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott are the two women who were brave enough
to stand up in front of the crowd and fight for what they believed in. By holding the Seneca Falls
Convention and drafting the Declaration of Sentiments they highlighted the issues that needed to
change. This is recognized as the beginning of the women s rights movement.
The early 19th century in the United States was a period of many social upheavals and reforms
including women s rights. The women s rights movement in the United States began with a
convention held at the Wesleyan Church chapel located in Seneca Falls, New York, which became
known as the Seneca Falls Convention. Approximately 200 people, men and women, attended; many
of them were already activists in various movements. During the convention the Declaration of
Sentiments and Resolutions was created and presented. This document defined the rights that both
men and women should have. This eventually led to women s right to vote, own property and have
independent lives. The Seneca Falls Convention was a monumental event that resulted in a movement
that truly changed the idea of women being less equal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Issue Of Global Warming
Dear World, I want to talk about something affecting you all. It s about global warming. This issue
will more than likely take away from everyone in the end, or at least humanity s efforts to be a greater
civilization, if you don t take care of it. My question is, why aren t you? For billions of years your
Earth withstood countless hardships and has since lived among the cosmos, but now it s going to be
intoxicated and fall ill in a manner of hundreds of years, because of you? Global warming is the issue
of the earth warming up due to man s technological accomplishments since the industrial revolution,
greatly committing to the massive unnatural build up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and it
comes up with a great deal of many other problems, including pollution, the maintaining of
ecosystems in the polar regions, and the depleting rate of fossil fuels and non renewable energy
sources. But besides the problem itself, which is already a major issue, there comes the people. There
are more than one sides to a problem, and in this case, it s about whether global warming is actually
real or not. There are those who side that it is, and those who side that it isn t, and even those who say
that humans aren t causing it. Although there are more than two sides, it needs to be said that global
warming is indeed real and happening as you read this. Putting an end to the modern era and giving up
our energy needs is simply too cruel, but there is never just one solution, and this

Biofeedback Research Paper
Biofeedback is sometimes a very confusing topic. It refers to the use of electronic, medical devices to
give more auditory, verbal, and visual information back to the body about how it is working. For
example, during biofeedback when a person tries to relax his muscles, he can hear a sound telling the
degree of relaxation. Or if a person is to slow his pulse, he can hear or see his pulses more easily than
by just feeling the pulse. By hearing the pulse, it is easier to try to manipulate it with his conscious
control. This is also done with temperature control. When people are nervous, their hands might get
colder or sweaty and warmer. During biofeedback, by giving an auditory and/or visual signal
individuals are able to better direct their

Applying A Gender Based Violence Approach Essay
Applying a gender based violence approach, this paper will explore life realities for a Moroccan
women s center serving women from 18 to 70 years of age, mothers, educated or not, living in a rural
and urban environment and, for too many of them, their horrific predicaments. Primary research
methods will integrate participant observation and semi structured interviews (DeWalt and DeWalt
2002) with females victims of gender based violence (GBV) and the center staff members. This study
aspires to determine what aspects lead Moroccan women to seek assistance, categories of assistance
available, challenges Moroccan women face and future opportunities for recognition and socio legal
support.
Results denote a lack of social support to women victim of violence, lack of social and economic
support for the center we will rest our research on, degraded service capacity, and the practice of
deceit in interactions between women and staff ingrained in a cultural notions of shame. Future
prospects for program development and sustainability will also be discussed. This ethnographic
proposition we will submit hopes to promote a richer understanding of gender based violence in local
contexts through the investigation of women victims experiences of gender based violence in
Moroccan society and how these dramatic encounters impact the reality and capabilities of social
service and legal provision.

John B. Watson s Theory Of Psychology
John B. Watson was a great American psychologist whose theories, publications, and experiments had
an enduring influence on psychology. Possibly his biggest contributions to psychology were his theory
of behaviorism and his experiment on Little Albert. Though Watson s experiments were extremely
unethical and behaviorism doesn t account for biological psychology, Watson was an extremely
remarkable psychologist because of his principal of behaviorism and his findings on classical
conditioning.
Background
John Broadus Watson was born on January 8, 1878 in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. Watson s family
was heavily religious, however, he grew up to be openly against religion (Good Therapy). He was a
very troubled young adult, who ran into trouble with law enforcement multiple times, and also did
poorly academically (Good Therapy). He went to Furman University in South Carolina, and turned his
academic life around (Good Therapy). By the age of 21, he graduated with a masters degree (Good
Therapy). He then enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Chicago, and after presenting
his thesis continued after graduating as a professor (Good Therapy). He then accepted a professor
position at Johns Hopkins University, where he was later fired due to an affair with one of his
students, Rosalie Rayner (Good Therapy). Despite this, he served as the president of the American
Psychological Association (APA) in 1915 and was honored by the APA with a gold medal shortly
before his death

The Silk Road In Han China And The Roman Republic
Throughout the lifetime of civilizations in the Ancient World, methods of creating a stable economy
were prevalent. Such method would be the integration of trade routes between societies and a strong
social class. In Han China and in the Roman Republic, the silk road was a staple in the economy of
their societies. Both of these societies established routes along the silk road to increase the wealth and
prosperity of their civilizations. However, though both of these countries utilized the trade of silk and
other goods along the silk road, they also had differences. Han dynasty China and the Roman
Republic had both utilized the silk road to trade their goods to gain prosperity and they relied on
agriculture to receive some of their goods, but differences were present in the goods that they
exchanged, such as China mainly trading silk and rice and Rome trading maining grapes, wine, and
pottery. The civilizations of Han dynasty China and the Roman republic both had a similarity in that
they utilized the silk road as a major trading route. The silk road was utilized by both of these
civilizations to receive needed resources, and exchange others. During the Han dynasty under the rule
of Emperor Wu in 138 B.C, their society was often under attack by the nomadic Xiongnu people. Due
to this, he sent his emissary Zhang Qian to request aid from distant cultures and there he found the
Dayuan, the Great Ionians . These people were descendants of Alexander the Great s army. After this

Essay On Standard Oil
Standard Oil began as an Ohio partnership incorporated in 1870 by John D. Rockefeller. Using
innovative business tactics, it absorbed or destroyed most of its competition in Cleveland in less than
two months.
Especially in early years, John D. Rockefeller was the single most important figure in shaping the new
oil industry. He distributed power and the tasks of policy formation to a system of committees, but
always remained the largest shareholder.
In response to state laws trying to limit the scale of companies, Rockefeller and his associates
developed innovative ways of organizing their rapidly growing company. On January 2, 1882, they
combined their disparate companies, spread across dozens of states, under a single group of trustees.

The state of Ohio successfully sued Standard, compelling the dissolution of the trust in 1892. But
Standard simply separated Standard Oil of Ohio and kept control of it. Eventually, the state of New
Jersey changed its incorporation laws to allow a company to hold shares in other companies in any
state. So, in 1899, the Standard Oil Trust, based at 26 Broadway in New York, was legally reborn as a
holding company, the Standard Oil Co. of New Jersey, which held stock in 41 other companies, which
controlled other companies, which in turn controlled yet other companies.
In 1904, Standard controlled 91 percent of production and 85 percent of final sales. Most of its output

The Misconceptions Of The Vikings During The Medieval Era
During the medieval era the Vikings were known as the most brutal solider. No country or army dared
to fight against some of the smartest fighters of all time. These men were not just great fighters, they
were the leading innovators of their time when it came to creating weapons. Many kings or emperors
hired the Vikings to be the bodyguards that would protect them or to fight for them in war. These men
were not only brutal, but smart compared to the misconception that follows them around. The Vikings
are discussed more than in any solider when it comes to medieval warriors. The Vikings originated
from the three countries of Scandinavia. These three countries are Denmark, Sweden and Norway.
They are known for being home to some of the most feared warriors in history. They got their name
from a language called Old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This time period is commonly known as the Viking Age of Scandinavian history. A Viking s most
treasured weapon was his sword. They were handed down generations because of inheritance, they
were often named and could be inscribed with writings by talented blacksmiths to magically increase
their powers. The Vikings had no professional standing army and tactics and discipline seemed to have
little to no development. They did not fight in regular formations. Aspiring warriors wanted armed
service so they fought next to famous fighters in order to be rewarded with weapons and fame of their
own. The houses the Vikings lived in were made out of wattle which is sticks. Many people believe
the Scandinavian people were big and muscular, but that was not the case. Due to the short summer
seasons, growing crops was difficult and resources were always scarce. As a result, many of the
Scandinavian people were much smaller than commonly depicted due to limited food sources. The
Vikings were a special culture compared to many others before and after

Government does not have My College s Back
Last week, while having my morning coffee, I overheard a conversation between a college lecturer

and aggressively said, You academics just don t get it...the government aint gat no money to take care
no university. I relaxed in my seat as the conversation between the two raged on. This same discussion
is but a fragment of a national discussion that has been ongoing in this country for many years, and the
debate is whether or not The Bahamas is economically, financially and socially developed enough to
maintaina university. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article,
We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small
independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial
resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we
already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and
simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The
College of The Bahamas is not well equipped to become a university as it lacks a few vital
components that need to be addressed urgently: Financial resources,Infrastructure and Staffing.

The Truth About Human Papillomavirus
The Truth about Human Papillomavirus (HPV)
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States and around the world
(The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia [CHP], 2009). Today, parents vaccinate their children
because vaccinations are recommended by the child s pediatrician and most importantly vaccinations
are required for the children to attend school. When a new vaccine becomes available parents are
becoming reluctant to get the vaccination for their child fearing negative results brought by myths,
rumors, and the uneducated. The HPV vaccination is not required to attend school, so most parents
will not follow up to get all the shots necessary in order to protect their child. HPV is a disease that
currently has no cure and can help be prevented by vaccinating your child before they become
sexually active.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a sexually transmitted virus that spreads from person to person by
direct contact of infected tissue. According to the CDC, nearly all men and women will contract HPV
at some point in their life (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2013). HPV can cause
cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers in females. HPV can also cause anal, throat, and neck cancer in
both males and females. HPV is also known to cause genital warts in both males and females.
According to the National Cancer Institute (2013), approximately 12,340 new cases of cervical cancer
will be diagnosed in the US, and 4,030 US women will die

Esther in the Bible Essay
The book of Esther tells the faithfulness of one woman and her uncle. It is only one of two books that
contain the heroism and bravery of a woman heroine. The story of Esther accomplishes two profound
things, the first: To demonstrate God s providential care of his people, even those outside the land of
Israel, and 2) to commend the observance of the feast of Purim by relating how it originated
(Breneman 289).Unlike the rest of the Bible the story of Esther does not directly state or talk about

remains faithful to those who trust and have faith in Him. In spite of the omission of any name for
deity, there is no other book in all the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
King Xerxes had amazing amounts of wealth and many wives and concubines, but the wife that stood
out, and perhaps the most infamous wife in his courts, was Queen Vashti.
Queen Vashti was the daughter of King Nebuchadnezzar and was very self seeking and stubborn. She
was also very beautiful, which in some ways was her downfall, for during the concluding week of the
great feast, King Xerxes demanded Queen Vashti come before him and have her beauty paraded
before his guests. Queen Vashti refused to come and be humiliated in this manner, for it was not
proper for a woman to appear before a room of men. This angered King Xerxes, and he turned to his
advisors for what appropriate actions should be taken against the queen for disobedience. If it pleases
his majesty, let him issue a royal decree and let it be written as one of the laws of the Persians and
Medes, which are irrevocable that Vashti is never again to be admitted into the presence of King
Achashverosh, and that the king give her royal position to someone better than she (Stern 1089 1090).
King Xerxes had Queen Vashti removed from her position as queen, and she was never summoned
before him again, for the word of the king was final and could not be rescinded. Upon the advice of
his closest trustees and advisors, a beauty pageant was held at the palace, and all of the most eligible
virgins of all the provinces were to come to Susa as prospects to replace Queen Vashti.

The Internet of things was said to have been discovered in 1999 during a presentation at Procter and

Stephen Hawking himself recently posted that when true artificial intelligence is achieved, humankind

society would inevitably be controlled by a dystopian nervous system of IOT devices similar to that of

Standard Deduction
Introduction
Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two
purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of
progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers
with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and
computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but it is
a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991)
A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s adjusted
gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not prefer the
itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard deduction is based
on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed as a reliant on another
person s tax return.
The major reason taxpayers exercise standard instead of itemized deductions is that taxpayers don t
have to keep track of every potential tax deductible expense throughout the year. Plus, a lot of people
find the standard deduction amount to be fairly generous and usually greater than the total they could
reach if they added up all of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People often overlook or fail to record allowable tax deductions and keep their approach only for the
standard amount specified by the IRS. For instance, homeowners often pay more interest and real
estate tax than the standard deduction permits. Also, small business owners who have a running home

accurate records along with actual receipts to itemize deductions. Failure to do this makes the standard
deduction a advantage but also may cost you a lot of money in tax

The Letter Apology Of The Stolen Generations By Kevin Rudd
The 2008 apology to the Stolen Generations by Kevin Rudd is historically significant for a number of
reasons (Creative Spirits, 2014). Some felt it provided closure to a painful and traumatic part of
Indigenous history while others fail to see how the apology has in the years after proven to change the
circumstances of Indigenous peoples. Impacts in areas such as health, education, economic
opportunity and involvement in child protection and/or the criminal justice system are all areas which
should have been impacted by the Apology (Creative Spitis, 2014). However; as this essay will
explore very little impact has been made in any of these areas in actual fact in some ways the gap has
been made wider or perpetuated by acts of government. The Apology was a significant historical event
but it is important to explain why it happened before examining the affects it has had on the
Indigenous community and wider Australia (Creative Spirits, 2014). The Apology was more then just
simply an apology, it acted as a statement of acknowledgement by the Australian Government that
previous governments had committed wrongdoings by removing thousands of Aboriginal and Torres
Strait Islander children from their homes and families to be placed with White families and missions

Reflection Speech
Initially, when I first registered to enroll for this online Speech class, I did not know what to expect. I
thought that we would only meet in order to present the required speeches and then I thought that we
would have a virtual classroom to give speeches were we were all online at once. Now I know that
both of my guesses were wrong. For our speeches, we either record them online and invite classmates
as audience members to watch, or have a live audience of family and/or friends that record you giving
your speech in your living room or somewhere similar. When I found out that these were the ways I
would be giving my speeches, I was so surprised. When I am speaking in front of a live audience in a
classroom, I get so nervous, so I thought that this method of giving presentations might be less
anxious for me.
The first speech was the Most Embarrassing Moment speech. I honestly was still so nervous to record
this even though I would just be looking at my computer screen. It felt kind of weird, almost as if I
was video chatting with myself. After I memorized my speech and sent in my recording, I
immediately assumed that I failed because the professor would think that I was too close to the screen
or I was too loud or I moved my head around a lot. Then I ended up getting an A on it. Everything I
thought that I did wrong was either irrelevant or did not distract from my presentation as a whole.

Art Spiegelman Analysis
Throughout time, the world and its history has seen the ravages of a superiority complex based upon a
certain race or religion deeming themselves better than everyone else. No one war, race or religion has
ever come out on top nor has anyone been entirely unaffected by the oppression this superiority
complex has caused.
Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing with
and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and Holocaust
survivor. The graphic novel uses postmodern techniques in its representation of races of humans as
diverse animals: the Jews are characterized as mice, the German soldiers as cats, and the non Jewish

Spiegelman s father was treated inhumanely because of his religion while Washington was treated
unfairly due to the color of his skin. Both men wrote about what happened and how they chose to rise
above their persecution and the injustice of how they are being treated instead of being walked all
over. Vladek says in the book, The fat from the burning bodies they scooped and poured again so
everyone could burn better. (Spiegelman, Book 2, pg. 62) This scene shows the Nazi brutality towards
the treatment of the Jewish race. The Nazis torture the Jews, treating them like animals. They strip
them of any semblance of their humanity, even in death. They burned the bodies disrespectfully, and
then took what was left to burn the others. Each account of these authors harsh lives is about
something that they cannot control being hated for: color of skin and religious choice. Both authors
use their past experiences to show how racism and religious persecution affect a person long after the
fact. While reading Maus, the reader moves through several different time periods: the pre Holocaust,
the actual Holocaust, and the post Holocaust. Maus interweaves the past and present, the different
subject histories of each character, and the very different cultural contexts of a Nazi occupied Poland
versus Rego Park, New York in the present where Art is

Differences Of God s Desires In Genesis And The Book Of...
In the Book of Genesis and the Book of Jonah, God reveals His desires for His people and expects
obedience. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community, behaving
peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires known, and in
turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this arise in the stories
pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonah and the people of Nineveh. Noah as
well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting on God s plans and
desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide instances where God s
desires are not followed. Although there are those who choose not to follow His desires, the instances
where His desires are followed hold the utmost focus and importance because they represent God s
plan coming to fruition through His creation. Beginning with the Book of Genesis, as God has
completed His creation, He explains what He desires for the people that will reside on it and how he
wants them to fulfill His creation. He explains, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our
likeness (Gen. 1:26). These words from God present the idea that He wants to be one with His people
and that He wants them to be alike to Him. However, His people will go on to show that while they
are created in His image and likeness, they exhibit flaws and behaviors that are not associated with
God. Another

Symbol of the Conch in Lord of the Flies Essay
From Lord of the Flies, there were many things like Conch and Fire that symbolized something. One
of the most important symbols was the Conch. The Conch, which is a big shell that can be seen at the
beach symbolizes many things in the Lord of the Flies. The Conch represents power because it once
was able to control the boys with it, and it also symbolizes democracy because of anyone who has
their ideas and can speak their thoughts. The Conch represents unity because it was used to call an
assembly and was used to put the boys and keep the peace between the boys so nobody would fight
with each other. So, the conch is an important symbol in the novel, because it represents power,

started to break the rules what Ralph made. If they didn t broke the rules, there wouldn t be fights

Ralph tries to hear every one s voice and thoughts like civilized people, and not doing dictatorship. I ll

that Ralph really tried to stay the same like before, and for few chapters, he was able to keep peace.
Ralph unlike Jack, was a democratic leader who tried to rule fairly by using Conch, which was used
communicating with others and anybody could speak if they want to and other boys had to listen to
him and don t interrupt him.
The Conch showed the unity of the boys too. Ralph used it for calling an assembly, and communicate
with others and keeping the peace between the boys. When they just got to the island, Piggy and
Ralph met and found the Conch, Ralph tried to blow it and finally, he knew how to make a noise with

The Pros And Cons Of Sports Stadiums
Sports teams are a symbol of a cities pride. Take for example the Chicago Cubs. They create a sense of
loyalty toward that city. However, none of that would happen without a stadium. Stadiums and teams
can play a very important role in a cities economy, or they could also be irrelevant. To decide whether
or not they are useful or not you must first understand each side of the argument. So first, let s
examine the pros of having a stadium within your city. Then, we will discuss the harms of having one.
And finally, decide which side is more beneficial for the economy.
Proponents of subsidizing sports stadiums is a great decision because the economic impact it will have
on the community is great for two main reasons. First, sports stadiums are massive construction
projects. In fact, one could compare them to a medieval cathedral in their attempts to dominate a
skyline and inspire pride in one s city And, just like these cathedrals, they are very expensive, and
massive building projects that would require many years of hard painstaking labor. For example, the
proposed stadium for the Los Angeles Rams in Inglewood, California, was predicted to cost $3 billion
and add 22,000 construction jobs to the economy of Los Angeles, California. Although construction
jobs do eventually disappear once a stadium is constructed once the games begin, so does the massive
consumer spending. For example, more than 3.5 million people saw the St. Louis Cardinals play at
Busch Stadium in 2015.

Summary Of The Second Treatise Of Government By John Locke
John Locke was a 17th century philosopher and political theorist whose work was extremely
influential in establishing what we know today as the United States of America. The Second Treatise
of Government, written by Locke, provided the basis for future political doctrines such as the United
States Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Throughout chapters six through eight,
Locke explains his reasons and belief as to why humans should not confuse paternal power with
political power and why they should be able to live free from the rule of an absolute monarchy, while
still being held accountable by an elected commonwealth, given power to create laws in the best
interest of the society. Locke begins chapter six of The Second ... Show more content on

He states that a political society can only exist when people agree to give up their property and the
right to maintain said property to authority figures placed above them. On the other hand, a civil
society exists when people live under an established law and are able to live in harmony with the
individuals chosen to enforce the laws. Individuals living in a civil society have agreed to give up the
ability to pass judgment on others based on their own personal mistakes and instead give this power to
the elected government. Locke goes on to reinforce the argument that a political society, or absolute
monarchy, has no semblance to a society characterized as civil. In a political society, there is neither
judge nor jury in which to appeal, only an authority figure with absolute power and control who
answers only to himself. Locke writes that members of a political society are given the right to appeal
to the law against each other just as they do in a civil society, but they are not allowed to do so against
the supreme ruler himself. Locke finds it incomprehensible that people would ever create a society
that would give complete and total power to only one

Latent Fingerprints Essay
The visualisation of latent fingerprints is enhanced by the adherence of enhancement materials to the
chemical constituents found in latent fingerprints. The most common enhancement techniques
employed to improve the visibility of latent fingerprints are fingerprint powder dusting, cyanoacrylate
fuming and ninhydrin [Lee Gaensslen 2001]. These methods are inexpensive, fast and efficient.
However, these techniques may affect the useful chemical characteristics and physical traces of
residual evidence which can be obtained from latent fingerprints.
Fingerprint powder is commonly used on non porous surfaces and on fixed surfaces which cannot be
taken to the laboratory (e.g. windows) [Champod Lennard 2004]. This fine powder is easy to apply
with the powder particles adhering instantaneously to the greasy and sticky substances in the latent
fingerprint deposit [Champod Lennard 2004]. However, this method is not sensitive and will only
adhere strongly to relatively fresh fingerprints. This is because as the fingerprint ages, the deposit
dehydrates and loses its adhesiveness [Champod Lennard 2004]. There are also limitations with the
application of dusting powders. Over dusting a fingerprint may cover finer details such as scars or

by our side they absorbed the blows and shared to the full in the ultimate destruction of the enemy.
This quote shows how the president was caring. He was a great man and is able to do many things
such as ending World War II and he has also used the world most powerful weapon, the atomic bomb.
Harry Truman, the 33rd president of the United States, has made many accomplishments, and that s
why he learned and adapted to how his work was done.
II. Early Years and Education Harry S. Truman was born in Lamar, Missouri on May 8, 1884. He and
his two siblings, the boy, Vivian, and the girl, Mary Jane, worked on a farm for twelve years. (He got a
received, a ideal religious education and studied the piano. When he was young he wanted to become
a pianist. He could not play sports because of his thick glasses. He was influenced by a book called
Great Men and Famous Women which showed him how to govern, and to follow in the footsteps of
the great and famous people. After growing up the farm where he was born, he had done various jobs
to help support his family. He was once a timekeeper for a railroad construction firm and he also
worked as a clerk for a bank in Kansas City. In 1906 he returned to the city of Grandview to help run

Taking a Look at Child Labor
Introduction
Child labor is often referred to the employment that neglects a child s childhood and the potential in
attending any schools. Children who are forced to work at a young age may also experience negative
effects such as health problems that will ultimately impact their overall growth. Generally, child labor
is closely classified as a rural phenomenon because of the significant amount of impoverished families
that send their children to work in both rural and urban areas. In rural areas, child labor in agriculture
rank among the highest. In urban areas, child trafficking, prostitution, and drug trafficking is the most
popular form of child labor. Moreover this process is extremely common for poor families because of
the need for extra income to survive. Children from all over the world are suffering from physical,
mental, and sexual disorders that transpires from child labor. In modern developed countries like the
United States, laws are passed to eliminate child labor, but there are still many cases of children
trafficking prior to the topic of child labor. However, child labor usually resides in the impoverished
countries due to the low socioeconomic status and their culture. According to International Labour
Organization (ILO), statistics shows that 246 million children are working at a young age (Lancet
2003. 32). Impoverished countries such as India, and Ghana are known to exploit children to work due
to extreme poverty. Child labor is an ongoing

Alternative Medicines For Complementary And Integrative...
In the United States alone, the Nation Alliance on Mental Illness stated that 16 million adults deal with
depression each year ( Mental ). Depression is a common mental health disorder that people can
acquire in today s society. There are many forms of depression that exist ranging from mild to very
severe. Some of those forms include major depression, seasonal affective disorder, postpartum
depression, psychotic depression, dysthymia, and bipolar disorder. Many individuals with depression
try to treat their illness by relying on antidepressants. Antidepressants are a popular form of treatment
of depression because they can be easily obtained and require little effort from the person using them.
However, there are many other natural, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, complementary medicines may work alongside traditional medications. Some examples of
CAM are acupuncture, diet, yoga, meditation, and physical activities such as sports, hiking, and
running. Complementary and alternative medicine is increasing in popularity because it can be more
beneficial for the patient and their health. Also, using CAM as a way to treat certain illnesses can be
much less expensive than investing in antidepressants or other forms of medication. Overall, CAM is a
healthy and beneficial method to help alleviate depression and other similar health conditions.
Physical activities such as yoga, exercise, sports, and nature and outdoors activities affect victims of
depression in a positive way and can improve their mental health.
To begin, yoga is a highly recommended activity to help reduce depression. Yoga is a mixture of
meditation, stretching, and breathing techniques that helps to clear the mind and focuses on positive
energy within an individual. In the journal, Issues in Mental Health Nursing, Lila Louie, a nurse from
the University of California, stated, In recent years, increasing numbers of people are turning to
complementary and alternative medicine for relief from depression and other mental health problems.
One form of CAM is yoga (Louie). This is because antidepressants and doctor prescribed medicines
can become expensive over time. Yoga has become

The Use of Force
The Use of Force The point of view in the story The Use of Force is in first person narrative. This
conveys inner the inner thoughts of the narrator as the doctor. The doctor is a reliable narrator and an
observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts and behaviors
are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home. I think it takes place
somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story if it were set somewhere
else, only because if the sick girl was brought to like a hospital for example, maybe she would have
been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that occurred at the house. The diction of the
story is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So it didn t effect the point of the story. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when the
first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for a penny.
I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The conflict in the
story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t very clear, but its
very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the second old women, is
angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it shows when they spoke to each
other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into the Old women s home, being in the
room and communicating with them til finally she gets so scared she runs out. The theme of this story
is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the theme irony, only because everything seemed like
the opposite of what it should have been. For instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for
charity. The purpose of charity is to help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for
someone. In the story, Marian isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra
points for her campfire girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or
contradicted each other. One old women was overly optimistic and ignorant of Addies constant
negativity and rudeness towards her. You would expect

Best Practices For Managing Parent Concerns Essay
In recent years, it is now customary for professionals who work in higher education to have interesting
stories about their interactions with parents. In Lynette S. Merriman s book, Best Practices for
Managing Parent Concerns: A Mixed Methods Study of Student Affairs Practice at Doctoral Research
Institutions, she uses the 2006 national survey of student affairs professionals to discover that 93% of
respondents recorded that their interactions with parents had increased in the most recent five years of
research (105; ch. 7). Not only have higher education professionals seen increased parental
interactions with administrators, but also with students. In 2007, the organization College Parents of
America surveyed parents and found that 34% of respondents reported that they communicated with
their children either daily, or more than once a day ( National Parent Survey ). Increased parental
involvement is driving colleges and universities to examine the advantages and disadvantages of
having parents as a more significant influence on collegiate processes. The frequency and medium of
communication between parents, students, and administrators is a specific interest. Much of the
increased involvement originates from the prevalence of technology such as cell phones and e mail,
parents are able to talk to their students daily, receiving immediate updates happenings with classes,
extra curricular activities, friends, and roommates. In College Parents of America s survey, 90% of

Greek to Roman Architecture
When shown iconic pictures of the Parthenon and the Colosseum, most people automatically know
which building is Greek and which is Roman, However, show them pictures of the Forum of Trajan,
the Pantheon, or the Agora, and they will be flipping coins trying to guess which is Roman
architecture and which is Greek architecture. It is one thing being able to identify which building
belongs to which civilization, it another being able to distinguish the subtle style changes within each
mega structure. Very similar to a textbook and essay, Greek architecture is like a textbook, and the
Romans used the textbook to write an essay. Although not completely copied or plagiarized the
foundation of Roman architecture is founded on Greek architecture. With the help of the Etruscan and
Roman ingenuity, the Romans were able to take Greek architecture to a whole new level and call it
Roman architecture. Greek architecture has been commonly looked at as the building of democracy,
often time people associate the post and lintel building element with the Greeks. However, the
Romans used post and lintel system in their architecture too. One of the ways of distinguishing which
building belongs to which civilization, is simply looking at the style of columns used. There are three
post and lintel styles, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. The Greeks mainly used Doric and Ionic columns
in their architecture. The Parthenon is often viewed as the embodiment of Classical Doric architecture

b. Hiring Processes: Seasonal employment, such as year end holidays for retailers, often requires
faster processing to get employees hired, trained and on the sales floor to accommodate business
demand. For example, instead of making hiring decisions during third round interviews, give second
round interviewers the authority to make hiring decisions and streamline the interviews to one
preliminary interview and one final interview.
c. Industry Competition: Industry competitors that offer better pay, generous benefits or guaranteed
opportunities for professional development can affect the way you select potential employees. A
collegial work environment, job satisfaction and security, and flexible scheduling often are appealing
to job seekers looking for a quality of life instead of the biggest pay check. Changing the way you hire
candidates in the face of industry competition might also include streamlining your selection process
so candidates aren t put off by the length of time from application to hire date.

`` Richard Trenton Chase ``
Richard Trenton Chase, unlike regular children had a very abusive childhood. Raised by a very
controlling father who did not get along with his mentally ill wife and always misdirected his anger
toward Richard and his sister with physical abuse (Dennison, Victoria, 2009). As a child at age 10
Richard became extremely fascinated with fire and mutilating cats. Later throughout his teenage years
he began heavily drinking and smoking. This soon led up to his hectic early adulthood when he was
then diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic who suffered from somatic delusions. (Ramsland,
Katherine). According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, paranoid
schizophrenia, is the presence of prominent delusions or auditory hallucinations in the context of
relative preservation of cognitive functioning and affect (APA, 1994 p.287). Since this subtype of
schizophrenia affects the cognitive portion of the brain that perceives things, in this person, it causes
him to also suffer from somatic delusions. This is a type of delusion that relates to the functions,
sensations, and physical appearance of the body, causing the person to believe that their body is
diseased or abnormal (APA, 2000). As a child it was thought that Richard had suffered from a mental
illness, but he was not committed. Although on the outside looking in, it looked as if he was the
average child since he did graduate high school, but no one knew the darkness that was kept hidden.

How Did American Race Relations Affect The Civil Rights...
The Civil Rights Movement grew momentum during the 1960s. As America became an Affluent
Society , the nation became more responsible for projecting a positive image of freedom an abstract
idea that failed to be a reality to all. WWII disrupted the social construct and implications that come
with race because blacks felt that they were entitled to the same rights as their fellow whites.
Nonetheless, people of color, particularly African Americans, continued to face the injustices and
inequalities they ve been burdened with since the beginning of time. Segregation was not only
enforced by laws in the South, but also by custom in the North and West (1019). Signs of Jim Crow
proliferated, an example being in the field of education. Blacks did not have access to an equal
education as whites. When Linda Brown was denied admittance to a school for all whites by the
Topeka Board of Education, it was clear that blacks and whites did not ... Show more content on

According to Foner, the State Department filed a brief in the Brown case noting the damage
segregation was doing to the country s image overseas (1027). American race relations ultimately
reflected the validity of the nation s ideology. If America continued to have poor race relations and
segregation, the principles on which the nation was founded upon would be questionable. An
American ambassador in India was asked Was it true that the Haitian ambassador to the United States
had to live in a black ghetto in Washington? Why did no black person hold a high public office?
(1027). This exemplifies the outsider perspective on interrelations in America; the color line and racial
divide in American society formed a parallel to the degradation of non white peoples overseas.
America wanted to put forth the best possible image to protect capitalist interests

The Total Economic Burden Of Pain
About 41% of American adults suffer from chronic pain. The total economic burden of pain in 2010 is
estimated to range from $560 to $635 billion. Of these, lost productivity alone cost between $299 to
$335 billion; which approximates the yearly cost of heart condition and exceeding the total cost of
cancer and diabetes. On a per person basis, the incremental cost of all US health care expenditures in
2010 is $8233, moderate and severe chronic pain accounted for $4516 (55% of total) and $7726.20
(93.8% of total) respectively (Gaskin et. al. 2012). American workers with neck or back pain costs
between $5574 $8512, compared to those with no neck or back pain ($3,017) (Kleinman et al 2014).

Caroll Hurwitz et al 2008, Cote et al 2008).
Traditionally, spinal problems are believed to always have specific patho anatomic diagnoses just like
other pathological conditions such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. Since the articles about
cervical (Boden 1990)and lumbar spine (Boden 1990 and Jensen 1994) and demonstrating multiple
imaging pathologies were found in pain free individuals, and about 65% increase of spine care cost
from 1997 to 2005 has produced worse health outcomes despite imaging technological advances
(Martin et al 2008). This has led to a paradigm shift that between 70 90% of neck and back problems
is actually non specific in nature (Deyo et al 2008?). The non specific nature of neck/back pain does
not mean that they all have the same clinical features. For example, the patient s experience of pain
can have different neurophysiologic pain mechanisms at work that result in substantially different

Howard Gardner s Analysis Howard Gardner s has a list of eight multiple intelligences, in which he believes that each person has innate strengths that our school system needs to support and teach to so that the students are best able to absorb the material. It s not just want you do to show that you are brave, it s also what you say. Tim O Brien shows readers how his characters in stories, that he s written based on his own experience, display different acts of bravery. Vietnam literature proves that Vietnam was bravery. Courage is another word for bravery, it s a synonym. O Brien uses the word courage in different parts of If I Die in a Combat Zone. He claims that, Courage is nothing to laugh at, not if it is proper courage and exercised by men who know what they do is proper. Proper courage is wise courage (Page 130). Courage showed in this story, used quite a few times throughout the story but mainly towards the end of the book. O Brien uses the word courage as an action. Only certain people show courage and that s what he s telling us here. If a soldier knows how to use courage the right way, they are using wise courage. Tim O Brien stated that, For courage, according to Plato is one of the four parts of virtue. It is there with temperance, justice, and wisdom, and all parts are necessary to make the sublime human being (Page 140). • 6. Negative and Positive Liberty Essay Negative and positive liberty are best understood as distinct values within Berlin s own scheme of value pluralism. While an increase in either is desirable, ceteris paribus, attempting to maximize any single idea of liberty without regard to any other values necessarily entails absurd and clearly undesirable conclusions; any sensible idea of jointly maximizing freedom in general, therefore, must acknowledge the tradeoffs inherent in increasing one aspect of freedom or another. The tension here is akin to the familiar tradeoff between equity and efficiency concerns in economics; negative and positive freedom are not diametrically opposed, but the two ideals may not be individually maximized at the same time. Berlin defines an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Any meaningful acknowledgement of the merits of negative liberty requires that some minimal area of control be left to private, individual actors. On the other hand, Berlin claims that negative freedom is not, in any logically prior sense, connected with democracy or self government (177). While acknowledging that self government may happen to best preserve negative liberty in practice when compared to alternative regimes, Berlin notes that there exists no a priori reason to believe this should necessarily be the case. In other words, even if we explicitly grant that society s goal should be to maximize negative liberty, the optimality of democracy is not guaranteed by any sound line of reasoning. Thus, selection of the most befitting governance structure is subject to scrutiny as an empirical issue. By contrast, the positive sense of the word liberty derives from the [individual s] wish ... to be his own master (178). Exponents of positive liberty focus on internal factors rather than external actors by painting the self as essentially divided, typically into a higher and lower self. The higher of these selves, distinguished perhaps by rationality or length of outlook, represents in some sense the true realization of an individual s potential, nature, or entity. This being is marked by possessing full self consciousness, bearing full responsibility for one s choices, and not being a slave to one s nature or unbridled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Or if a person is to slow his pulse, he can hear or see his pulses more easily than by just feeling the pulse. By hearing the pulse, it is easier to try to manipulate it with his conscious control. The houses the Vikings lived in were made out of wattle which is sticks. Many people believe the Scandinavian people were big and muscular, but that was not the case. Due to the short summer seasons, growing crops was difficult and resources were always scarce. This situation has become a worrying problem indeed.According to her article, We Do Not Need A University , Ms. Pam Burnside discusses the issue of The Bahamas being a small independent nation who wants to ameliorate its tertiary level institution with inadequate financial resources. She further explains that the Bahamas is too greedy and is ashamed of the College that we already have in existence. In addition, she argues that The Bahamas does not need a university and simply cannot afford it. In response to Burnside s arguments, I most certainly agree with her. The Truth About Human Papillomavirus The Truth about Human Papillomavirus (HPV) HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States and around the world (The Children s Hospital of Philadelphia [CHP], 2009). Today, parents vaccinate their children because vaccinations are recommended by the child s pediatrician and most importantly vaccinations are required for the children to attend school. When a new vaccine becomes available parents are becoming reluctant to get the vaccination for their child fearing negative results brought by myths, rumors, and the uneducated. The HPV vaccination is not required to attend school, so most parents will not follow up to get all the shots necessary in order to protect their child. HPV is a disease that currently has no cure and can help be prevented by vaccinating your child before they become sexually active. King Xerxes had amazing amounts of wealth and many wives and concubines, but the wife that stood out, and perhaps the most infamous wife in his courts, was Queen Vashti. Queen Vashti was the daughter of King Nebuchadnezzar and was very self seeking and stubborn. She was also very beautiful, which in some ways was her downfall, for during the concluding week of the great feast, King Xerxes demanded Queen Vashti come before him and have her beauty paraded before his guests. Queen Vashti refused to come and be humiliated in this manner, for it was not proper for a woman to appear before a room of men. This angered King Xerxes, and he turned to his advisors for what appropriate actions should be taken against the queen for disobedience. If it pleases his majesty, let him issue a royal decree and let it be written as one of the laws of the Persians and Medes, which are irrevocable that Vashti is never again to be admitted into the presence of King Achashverosh, and that the king give her royal position to someone better than she (Stern 1089 1090). King Xerxes had Queen Vashti removed from her position as queen, and she was never summoned before him again, for the word of the king was final and could not be rescinded. Standard Deduction Introduction Standard deduction is a provision of the United States federal income tax system, which serves two purposes including a least amount amount of untaxed income, thus acting as an ingredient of progressivity. Second, it provides a simplified alternative to the itemized deductions for tax payers with comparatively low itemizable expenses, thus relieving them of the record keeping and computational burden of itemizing deductions. Having one provision is a compromise to other but it is a compromise that is unnecessary. (Samansky, 1991) A base sum of income that is not focused to tax and that can be used to decrease a taxpayer s adjusted gross income (AGI), a standard deduction can only be used if the taxpayer does not prefer the itemized deduction method of calculating taxable income. The sum of the standard deduction is based on a taxpayer s filing status, age and whether he or she is disabled or claimed as a reliant on another person s tax return. Impacts in areas such as health, education, economic opportunity and involvement in child protection and/or the criminal justice system are all areas which should have been impacted by the Apology (Creative Spitis, 2014). Maus is a graphic novel by American cartoonist Art Spiegelman. It shows Spiegelman conversing with and recording what his father says about what he lived through being a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. • 34. Differences Of God s Desires In Genesis And The Book Of... In the Book of Genesis and the Book of Jonah, God reveals His desires for His people and expects obedience. These desires involve fulfilling His plan which includes, living in community, behaving peacefully, obeying and respecting Him, and repenting of sins. God makes His desires known, and in turn, His people obey and disobey these desires. More specifically, examples of this arise in the stories pertaining to Adam and Eve, Noah, Cain and Abel, and Jonah and the people of Nineveh. Noah as well as Jonah and the people of Nineveh show numerous examples of acting on God s plans and desires in a positive way, while the other examples contrast this and provide instances where God s desires are not followed. Although there are those who choose not to follow His desires, the instances where His desires are followed hold the utmost focus and importance because they represent God s plan coming to fruition through His creation. Beginning with the Book of Genesis, as God has completed His creation, He explains what He desires for the people that will reside on it and how he wants them to fulfill His creation. He explains, Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness (Gen. 1:26). These words from God present the idea that He wants to be one with His people and that He wants them to be alike to Him. However, His people will go on to show that while they are created in His image and likeness, they exhibit flaws and behaviors that are not associated with God. Another ... However, none of that would happen without a stadium. Stadiums and teams can play a very important role in a cities economy, or they could also be irrelevant. To decide whether or not they are useful or not you must first understand each side of the argument. So first, let s examine the pros of having a stadium within your city. Then, we will discuss the harms of having one. And finally, decide which side is more beneficial for the economy. Proponents of subsidizing sports stadiums is a great decision because the economic impact it will have on the community is great for two main reasons. First, sports stadiums are massive construction projects. In fact, one could compare them to a medieval cathedral in their attempts to dominate a skyline and inspire pride in one s city And, just like these cathedrals, they are very expensive, and massive building projects that would require many years of hard painstaking labor. Throughout chapters six through eight, Locke explains his reasons and belief as to why humans should not confuse paternal power with political power and why they should be able to live free from the rule of an absolute monarchy, while still being held accountable by an elected commonwealth, given power to create laws in the best interest of the society. Individuals living in a civil society have agreed to give up the ability to pass judgment on others based on their own personal mistakes and instead give this power to the elected government. The most common enhancement techniques employed to improve the visibility of latent fingerprints are fingerprint powder dusting, cyanoacrylate fuming and ninhydrin [Lee Gaensslen 2001]. These methods are inexpensive, fast and efficient. However, these techniques may affect the useful chemical characteristics and physical traces of residual evidence which can be obtained from latent fingerprints. Fingerprint powder is commonly used on non porous surfaces and on fixed surfaces which cannot be taken to the laboratory (e.g. windows) [Champod Lennard 2004]. This fine powder is easy to apply with the powder particles adhering instantaneously to the greasy and sticky substances in the latent fingerprint deposit [Champod Lennard 2004]. The doctor is a reliable narrator and an observer. I feel that his personality is brought out in the doctor. So the doctors thoughts and behaviors are a reflection of the authors. As for the setting it takes place at a family s home. I think it takes place somewhere in the early 1900 s. I think it would make a difference to the story if it were set somewhere else, only because if the sick girl was brought to like a hospital for example, maybe she would have been diagnosed and helped sooner without all the hassle that occurred at the house. Something that really puzzled me in the story was when the first old lady ran after Marian in the hall and sort of grabbed her by her hair and asked her for a penny. I didn t understand that point and I don t think it made much sense to the story. The conflict in the story is when Marian actually goes into the old women s room. The conflict isn t very clear, but its very obvious there is a problem. The first old women is very outgoing, and the second old women, is angry, and bitter. So there s a bit of clashing going on with them and it shows when they spoke to each other. The events that led up to the plot are Marian going into the Old women s home, being in the room and communicating with them til finally she gets so scared she runs out. The theme of this story is also irony. Everything in the story conveyed the theme irony, only because everything seemed like the opposite of what it should have been. For instance when Marian goes to the old women s home for charity. The purpose of charity is to help people who cant help themselves, or to do something nice for someone. In the story, Marian isn t doing it to be helpful, she is only visiting the old women for extra points for her campfire girls. Another example of the irony was the old women constantly disagreed or contradicted each other. • 45. Best Practices For Managing Parent Concerns Essay In recent years, it is now customary for professionals who work in higher education to have interesting stories about their interactions with parents. In Lynette S. Merriman s book, Best Practices for Managing Parent Concerns: A Mixed Methods Study of Student Affairs Practice at Doctoral Research Institutions, she uses the 2006 national survey of student affairs professionals to discover that 93% of respondents recorded that their interactions with parents had increased in the most recent five years of research (105; ch. 7). Not only have higher education professionals seen increased parental interactions with administrators, but also with students. In 2007, the organization College Parents of America surveyed parents and found that 34% of respondents reported that they communicated with their children either daily, or more than once a day ( National Parent Survey ). Increased parental involvement is driving colleges and universities to examine the advantages and disadvantages of having parents as a more significant influence on collegiate processes. The frequency and medium of communication between parents, students, and administrators is a specific interest. Much of the increased involvement originates from the prevalence of technology such as cell phones and e mail, parents are able to talk to their students daily, receiving immediate updates happenings with classes, extra curricular activities, friends, and roommates. Greek to Roman Architecture When shown iconic pictures of the Parthenon and the Colosseum, most people automatically know which building is Greek and which is Roman, However, show them pictures of the Forum of Trajan, the Pantheon, or the Agora, and they will be flipping coins trying to guess which is Roman architecture and which is Greek architecture. It is one thing being able to identify which building belongs to which civilization, it another being able to distinguish the subtle style changes within each mega structure. Very similar to a textbook and essay, Greek architecture is like a textbook, and the Romans used the textbook to write an essay. Although not completely copied or plagiarized the foundation of Roman architecture is founded on Greek architecture. With the help of the Etruscan and Roman ingenuity, the Romans were able to take Greek architecture to a whole new level and call it Roman architecture. Greek architecture has been commonly looked at as the building of democracy, often time people associate the post and lintel building element with the Greeks. However, the Romans used post and lintel system in their architecture too. One of the ways of distinguishing which building belongs to which civilization, is simply looking at the style of columns used. There are three post and lintel styles, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian. The Greeks mainly used Doric and Ionic columns in their architecture. The Parthenon is often viewed as the embodiment of Classical Doric architecture (97). The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Raised by a very controlling father who did not get along with his mentally ill wife and always misdirected his anger toward Richard and his sister with physical abuse (Dennison, Victoria, 2009). As a child at age 10 Richard became extremely fascinated with fire and mutilating cats. Later throughout his teenage years he began heavily drinking and smoking. This soon led up to his hectic early adulthood when he was then diagnosed as a paranoid schizophrenic who suffered from somatic delusions. (Ramsland, Katherine). According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, paranoid schizophrenia, is the presence of prominent delusions or auditory hallucinations in the context of relative preservation of cognitive functioning and affect (APA, 1994 p.287). Since this subtype of schizophrenia affects the cognitive portion of the brain that perceives things, in this person, it causes him to also suffer from somatic delusions. This is a type of delusion that relates to the functions, sensations, and physical appearance of the body, causing the person to believe that their body is diseased or abnormal (APA, 2000). As a child it was thought that Richard had suffered from a mental illness, but he was not committed. • 50. How Did American Race Relations Affect The Civil Rights... The Civil Rights Movement grew momentum during the 1960s. As America became an Affluent Society , the nation became more responsible for projecting a positive image of freedom an abstract idea that failed to be a reality to all. WWII disrupted the social construct and implications that come with race because blacks felt that they were entitled to the same rights as their fellow whites. Nonetheless, people of color, particularly African Americans, continued to face the injustices and inequalities they ve been burdened with since the beginning of time. Segregation was not only enforced by laws in the South, but also by custom in the North and West (1019). Signs of Jim Crow proliferated, an example being in the field of education. Blacks did not have access to an equal education as whites. An American ambassador in India was asked Was it true that the Haitian ambassador to the United States had to live in a black ghetto in Washington? Why did no black person hold a high public office?
