What are its uses?
 Portrait photography is used to catch
the personality and image of a
person/subject in the shot. Lighting is
used heavily to create a certain
mood/emotion towards the
photograph. Primarily, its mainly
associate with art, but it can also be
used for medical purposes and
special occasions such as weddings
or social events.

Edited or enhanced?
 The first three photographs have been edited. Things such as
the colour, lighting and exposure have been changed to give
the photo a more artistic appearance, also it gives a more
personal touch to the photograph.
 In our opinion we think that editing the photographs wouldn’t be
controversial as they are purely for artistic and social purposes.

Early Portrait Photography
Picture one is an example from the early
twentieth century. Picture two is from the
twenty first century. Differences between
both pictures vary in vast amounts. The
clarity of picture one can’t compare to that of
picture two, this is because of camera
technology in both time periods. Software is
another key factor in the differences
between these two images, picture two has
mostly likely been edited in photoshop
whereas picture one has been left how it
was taken. Photo one is in a very formal
style as the child has been directed to look
straight at the camera whereas photo two is
in a casual style as the man is looking at
something which is off camera.
