· Journal A:
Actually, my feeling for this class is not clear yet, because it is my first time to attend this kind of classes, which I was told that I have to take this class due to my low GPA. Honestly, I was not happy to know that I have to take this kind of classes because my grade, because I thought this class will be a time wasting for me. Also I do not like to be forced to do something that I do not like to do. However, from what we have discussed on the first class I am pretty sure that it is going to be a good experience for me in several ways such as writing journals, how to organize my schedule, and the most important thing is that how to succeed in college. Also, since I am an international student, I need to learn many skills, which this class will do it. For example, self-reflection is very important skill in this class, and it is a new skill that I need to improve myself on it by writing down my own ideas and thoughts to make a good piece of writing.
· Reflection:
As I have said on the first journal, my feeling was not that much good for this class because I thought it is going to be a time wasting, but through the semester I found out that it is really helpful and useful class, which has improved my skills and I have met many good friends and I was really glad to work with. I am sure that the time I have spent in this class was worth it.
· Journal B
Everyone has a blind spot in their personality that they don’t know about it. According to Lynn Little blind spot is “the grid that represents information that is known-by-others but not known-by-self”. There are some steps to find the blind spots in my personality that would do such as quick thinking, analysis my feelings, and ask others. First of all is quick thinking, which means to think about what I do not know about myself and others might know about me from my behavior. Second, by analyzing my feelings there is a big chance to find out some new things about my personality that I have never thought or felt about it before, which could make a huge difference. Third step is asking other people for a feedback about myself, and what they see on me According to my behavior. So, if I do like what I have found about myself by the previous steps, I would keep doing them and try to improve and develop these behaviors on my personality to get the best in myself. On the other hand, if I do not like what I have discovered about my blind spots, or myself, I will stop it immediately to avoid it or try to fix what it could be fixed by getting more knowledge about it. I believe that knowing my blind spots will support to change the way I think, behave and feel. Also, it will help me to reach more prospects for success in my college life and after college life.
· Reflection:
Since I have thought about my blind spot in my personality, I have discovered many things that if I changed them, I can improve my personality, which will help me to understand other people. Also, it can help me to impro.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1. AMBER HAYES
ASSOCIATE OF ARTS IN TEACHING EDUCATION EARLY CHILDHOOD –GRADE 6
I AM A DETERMINED, FOCUSED, PASSIONATE WOMAN THAT IS READY TO
PUT THESE SKILLS TO USE HELPING TO CREATE A WONDERFUL LEARNING
ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE.
2. I ENJOYED THE SCAVENGER HUNT THAT WAS ASSIGNED DURING WEEK 2. IT WAS A GREAT WAY
TO LEARN ABOUT THE RESOURCES OFFERED AROUND CAMPUS. WE LEARNED WHO WE NEED TO
CONTACT TO TAKE ADVANTAGES OF THOSE SERVICES. LASTLY, WE LEARNED WHERE TO GO TO
TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDED TO US.
• The late paper case study was very interesting. I
liked reading the story and making my own
decision as to who was to blame for the paper
being late. It was a discussion question so I
enjoyed reading the opinions and other points
of view from my classmates. It was a great way
to discuss our differences of opinion with each
other.
• My last assignment that I have really enjoyed
are the discussion questions that involve the Dr.
Chew videos. I have enjoyed reading everyone’s
comments about what they get out of the
videos. They have pointed out several great
things about studying that I never knew about,
but that I think will be beneficial to every
student. I think the way he presents the
information is fantastic, it’s realistic, easy to
understand, and will be easy to implement.
3. JOURNAL ENTRY #1- IT WAS INTERESTING TO SEE WHAT IT SAID YOUR STRENGTHS AND
WEAKNESSES WERE. I WASN’T SURPRISED BY MY RESULTS, AND IT WAS EASY TO EXPLAIN WHY I
RECEIVED THE RESULTS I DID. I DIDN’T SCORE VERY HIGH IN GAINING SELF-AWARENESS BUT I
FEEL LIKE I DID GAIN SOME AFTER FINISHING THE ASSIGNMENT.
• Journal Entry #3- I really enjoyed this about
how we’ll feel when we finally reach our goals. I
used graduation, and I remember how it felt
because I graduated in 2016, but then I came
back to follow another path. It’s exciting to think
about walking across the stage again, but
knowing that I have a high enough GPA to
graduate with honors this time will make it
sweeter because I just barely missed it last time.
• Journal Entry #4- It was fun to break down my
days, because I’m so busy most days I don’t
think about how much time I’m spending on
each thing. I spent most of my time in quadrant
II doing things with or for my family. It didn’t
cause me to make any big changes, just realizing
that I have to make an effort to schedule time
for studying and time to get assignments done.
4. WEEK 2
• I enjoyed the assignments in week two the most. The scavenger hunt was a great assignment that could
benefit every student, even if was a little bit of a pain to hunt down some of those answers. The
discussion question for that week was also very interesting about how the brain works. The fact about
how a brain has enough energy to light a light bulb was fascinating. Both were a great way to become
familiar with this class and the types of things we would be learning about.
5. LESSONS THAT I’LL TAKE WITH ME
• The first one is the things I’ve learned from the Dr. Chew videos about studying. Learning about deep
processing has been very interesting, and I’m excited to put the skills I’ve learned to good use. Next,
would be how I need to schedule my time, and how important that is to my success in school. I’m a
busy mom and if I want to reach my ultimate goals then I need to remember it’s okay to take time to
focus on the things that are important to just me. Last, I will remember how to diffuse my inner critic
and not let that voice get the best of me.
6. SELF-ASSESSMENT
• __70___1. Accepting personal responsibility
•
• __75___2. Discovering self-motivation
•
• __59___3. Mastering self-management
•
• __50___4. Employing interdependence
•
• __66___5. Gaining self-awareness
•
• _67___6. Adopting lifelong learning
•
• _60____7. Developing emotional intelligence
•
• _71____8. Believing in myself
• I feel that I scored high in self-motivation because I’m
a mom and it’s my job to get things done. Whether
that be things for them or school assignments for
myself nobody is going to do it but me. I also realized
that may be my downfall, I often don’t enlist help from
others because it’s easier to rely on myself versus
delegating to others. However, for the same reasons
above I scored high in accepting personal
responsibility, I’ve never been one to blame my
downfalls on someone else, so if I do poorly on an
assignment I would never blame a teacher I would
understand that I probably didn’t give my best effort
and know that I need to do better next time.
7. GRAYSON L INK
• I learned that I’m on the right path while completing this assignment. Some of the careers it suggested
for me were Teacher Assistant, Nanny, or Preschool Teacher. I currently work for ShermanISD as a
classroom assistant so it was nice to see I’m headed in the right direction. It confirmed what I already
knew, and that is that I want to help people, be of service to them, and that I have the skills needed to
care for children on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the pay for these types of careers isn’t great, but I was
never in it for the money anyway, I want a career I will enjoy and not dread going to everyday. I’m
excited to see what other opportunities my degree, and working with the school district will bring me.
