Arguments Against Strip Searches
Strip Searches The case of Florence v. Board of Chosen Freeholders which resulted in the Supreme
Court allowing strip searches of incoming inmates to continue to be conducted (Strip Searches). The
majority of adults that were polled disagreed with the ruling in the Florence v. Board of Chosen
Freeholders which shows that many people believe that strip searches should not be conducted to all
incoming inmates although the survey was a close on with 54 percent of people disagreeing with the
ruling in the case (Strip Searches). Contrary to popular opinion, strip searches should continue to be
conducted because, committing a crime results in the loss of rights, they can find gang symbols and
contagious infections, and strip searches are more effective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The prisoners loss of some of their rights is part of their punishment for breaking the law if prisoners
kept all their rights prison would not work because prison is meant to take away their freedom
(Prisoner s Rights). Prisoners have taken their rights to court multiple time only proving that the
prisoners have a loose grasp of what rights they deserve and what prison really is resulting in many
foolish cases which waste tax payer s dollars (Prisoner s Rights). For example, a prisoner in Westville
Correctional facility in Indiana has filled over a hundred separate lawsuits in a time span of 8 years,
including one where he sued because the prison would not provide him with pornographic magazines
(Prisoner s Rights). When committing a crime the prisoners lost the right to deny a search because
now there is reasonable cause to search an inmate making it constitutional according to the 4th
Amendment (Prisoner s Rights). The 4th Amendment states that search and seizures are allowed when
there is reasonable suspicion and being arrested falls under reasonable suspicion according to the U.S.

The Great Joys Of Reading Roald Dahl s Charlie And The...
One of the great joys of reading Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is the catharsis
experienced by the readers when four nasty children are forced to undergo some gruesome
punishments. These punishments are carried out in very creative ways, from being turned into a big
blueberry to being zapped into a TV, so that they tend to come across as refreshing and entertaining to
the audience. However, it must not be overlooked that this small book does present some horrid
actions in a positive light, including the sadistic treatment of children, removal of a large population
from work, and imperial superiority over indigenous populations. Eleanor Cameron went so far as to
deem this novel as a tasteless story that represents the nasty character of the author (Cameron).
Though she is correct in terms of some of the atrocious aspects of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate
Factory is far from being a tasteless book. On the contrary, it is a book that must be kept on the
bookshelves, to inform us of some of the darkest aspects of humanity.
The repulsiveness of Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, and Mike Teavey are so
obviously revealed in the book that there is no room to doubt that they are indeed nasty. In fact, they
are never even remotely pleasant, resulting in impatient readers that cannot wait for these children to
be punished. Consequently, when karma finally catches up to these spoiled children and their parents
who have raised them that way it

Equilibrium Of I-Point Object Essay
Equilibrium of à Point Object Background
Aim
Our aim in this experiment is to determine the magnitude of an unknown force by using two known
masses on force table.
Variables
Independent: Magnitude of two known masses
Dependent: Angle between two known masses
Control:
Unknown force
Acceleration of gravity (9.81 m/s2) (Pearson Physics)
Hypothesis
Q, the angle between two known masses is directly proportional with the of two known masses.
Theory
We have already stated in our aim that we are trying to find an unknown mass by using two known
masses. For our force table to stay constant, it has to be at equilibrium. Equilibrium is à statement
where opposing forces are balanced, which means that

Conclusion
Conclusion
Our hypothesis is supported by the calculations we made.
Evaluation
Even though the experiments we did generally supported our hypothesis, as we understood from the
graph, there were points which aren t even close to best fit line. Random errors in this experiment may
cause this aberration such as our point of view. Also, we didn t include the weight of the strings, which
might also affect the accuracy of the calculations.
Improvements
→ We only made 5 trials. We can increase the number of trials to decrease the possibility of random
errors.
→ We could check the flexibility of the strings.

Zika Virus Papers
The Zika Virus When people think of the word epidemic , they generally imagine a widespread
disease that threatens humanity as a whole. While most of the hysteria associated with pandemics
stem purely from fiction, it can be understandable why people always fear the worst. That is why
when an outbreak of the Zika Virus was reported in the United States, an overall feeling of malaise set
in. As of September 21, 2016, a total of 3,358 cases of the Zika Virus have been reported ( Center for
Disease Control and Prevention ). Though the numbers are alarming, there is no need for a national
quarantine or emergency evacuation. In reality, the Zika Virus is not as intimidating as society puts it
out to be. The panic and confusion associated with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As of now, there is no official vaccine for Zika. Instead, a patient that has the contagion must undergo
certain treatments. Fortunately, the remedies for the virus are simple and cheap. If infection occurs, it
is vital to get an abundance of rest and liquids; medication is also advised to assist in alleviating pain.
The treatments for Zika are straightforward because the disease itself is rather mild. In fact, in most
reported cases of the virus in the United States, the illness only lasted approximately two to seven
days prior to the first set of symptoms ( World Health Organization ). It is evident that the fear
associated with the Zika Virus is slightly exaggerated. Currently, there is only one recorded fatality in
the United States that is directly related to Zika ( The Washington Post ). This is mainly because first
world countries medical programs are advanced enough to effectively treat the virus. The standard of
living in these countries are also higher compared to third world countries. That is why Zika has
claimed a significant amount of lives worldwide; the poor conditions in these countries make it
difficult for infected individuals to get proper

U.s. Federal Election Commissions
In the land of politics, the more money that one has is the better. This is no exception when it comes to
campaigns and elections. The goal of any political campaign is to get their nominee the votes they
need to win. Whether this is through negative or positive campaign tactics, one thing can fuel a
campaigns success is money. Money in a campaign means that more advertising can be bought. This is
the perfect way to get the candidate seen by the public and is also a way to paint a negative picture of
the other candidate. However, questions can be raised where does the money that funds campaigns or
campaign advertisement come from, should there be regulations imposed to monitor where it comes
from and what part of the campaign does this money fund? Questions like these and more were
answered in the Supreme Court Case Citizens United Vs. Federal Election Commissions and many
were not happy about this ruling. Citizens United is a known for being a non profit organization that
fought for the rights of citizens. They believed that United States citizens should know what is going
on in the government and be in control (Citizens United Foundation, 2016). It is important to Citizens
United that all citizens are aware of policies that are in place. What impact certain laws will have on
their daily lives and the ethics of those that are elected into office. Federal Election Commissions is

Archaic Word Choice And Run-On Sentences
From of Plymouth Plantation : Archaic Word Choice and Run On Sentences
Daniel J Boorstin once said, By reading we discover our world, or history and ourselves. Although
reading history can be very difficult for some people due to archaic language and run on sentences.
These factors make grasping the authors point very difficult, and problematic to the average person.
The document From of Plymouth Plantation by William Bradford was extremely difficult to read due
to his use of uncommon words, run on sentences, and choppy paragraphs. These things may cause the
reader to lose interest or have a hard time comprehending Bradford s writing.

An example of the run on sentences is, Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles before
in their preparation (as may be remembered by that which went before), they had now no friends to
welcome them, nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather beaten bodies, no houses or much less
towns to repair to, to seek for succor, (60). This line is a run on sentence because the entire sentence is
a paragraph long which could easily confuse the reader. Another example, And for the season it was
winter and they that know the winters of that country know them to be sharp and violent, and subject
to cruel and fierce storms, dangerous to travel to known places much more to search an unknown
coast, (61). This is another example of a run on sentence would be this because this sentence goes on
for four lines and could be found quite frustrating to the modern reader. The last example, And of
these in the time most distress, there was but 6 or 7 sound persons, who, to their great commendations

fetched them wood, made them fires, dressed them meat, made their beds, washed their loathsome

The Role Of The Titans In Greek Mythology
The Titans had very important roles and contributions to Greek Mythology as it is known today. Many
have heard of Greek Mythology, but with very little Information and understanding of these certain
Greek Gods, who had a major factor in the rise of mysticism. Because of their certain powers and
upbringing, Titans had major roles in the society. Without having a major part in the formation , Greek
Mythology may have not been the same. The Titans originally consisted of twelve gods and goddesses:
Six male and six females, who were inherited by Gaea (Mother Earth) and Uranus (Father Jupiter).
The Titans were Kronos, Iapetus, Hyperion, Oceanus, Coeus, Creus, Theia, Rhea, Mnemosyne,

Philosophy And Science Of The Same Breath
The philosophers Leucippus and Democritus are constantly mentioned in the same breath. Since the
bulk of their works did not survive the middle ages, we have only fragments and the writings of their
peers and successors to tell us about their accomplishments and ideas. It is difficult to separate these
two men because they are praised or critiqued as a unit by contemporaries and followers, but their
exact relationship is unclear. Sources such as Diogenes Laertius do not link them as teacher and
student, but rather as acquaintances. However, in Metaphysics, Aristotle refers to Democritus as
Leucippus disciple , equating the two philosophers ideas of full and void (the idea of atoms and the
space in which they move). But whatever their relationship, their legacy of atomism is an important
one, and it has influenced philosophy and science down to the present day.
There is comprehensive access to primary sources on these philosophers and their ideas through both
the Perseus Digital Library and the Online Loeb Classical Library. The countless references to
Democritus in Aristotle s work are available both in original language and translation, as well as
passing references to Leucippus, Democritus, and their philosophy from authors such as Sextus,
Diogenes Laertius and others. Although these primary sources are mostly fragmented quotes or
philosophical rebuttals to Democritus and Leucippus works, they provide much needed information on
early atomist thought. The

The Influence Of Social Media On The Fashion Industry
Influence of Social Media on the Fashion Industry According to Katie Hope, from the BBC News,
Burberry, a fashion retailer, has nearly 40 million followers across 20 different social media platforms
and openly admits that it has become as much a media content producer as a design company.
Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other ancient fashion
rituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. During the turn of the century, the
creation of media outlets are used by both consumers and producers alike. The producers within the
industry, use the top three social media platforms, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, to project
upcoming sales, designer lines, and hire famous people from all different fields to advertise their
brand, (Moving Faster). Although many in the fashion industry continue to utilize magazines and
commercials to promote their brands, this practice has become less common due to the rapid
development of various social media outlets. Fashion producers need to embrace social media as an
increasingly important platform with which to promote their products because of its large fan base,
relatively inexpensive means of spreading the word and its very wide adoption for millennials but
increasingly more so for people of all generations.
Due to the invention of social media, many producers have approached celebrities, many of whom
have a large quantity of followers, to use their accounts in order to reach a

Gibbons Book Report
In this monograph The Gibbons of Khao Yai, Thad Q Bartlett records all of his own notes about the
small apes, also known as the gibbons, in their own natural habitat in the national park of Khao Yai,
Thailand. Before he wrote this book, primatologists had hypothesized about a correlation between
territoriality and monogamy in the gibbons and believed that it was due to the small fruiting trees and
figs. Bartlett had taken an interest in the gibbons, and made a goal to contradict this hypothesis by
studying the gibbons up close, and better understand how the availability of food affected their
behaviors and ecology. Bartlett began his field study by focusing on the fauna and environment that
they live in, which was the Mo Singto study area. Gibbons are known as mostly frugivorous primates,
as they mainly thrive on figs and leaves, but Bartlett noted that gibbons could also supplement
themselves with insects and leaves, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gibbons had shown to have friendly encounters with other gibbons when other resources like
insects, leaves and ripe fruit were available. Although, when the fruit was scarce, they displayed more
territorial tendencies, and the encounters became more hostile and agonistic. These observations are
what led to the suggestion of resource defense being an important aspect of territoriality in gibbons
(pg. 119). Regarding the uniqueness of their monogamous lifestyle, Bartlett mainly referred to the
predictions from other primatologists about how gibbons live in their small groups. He referred to
Wright s predictions in particular about how the gibbons created their own small groups for the sake
of having enough food resources. Eventually, Bartlett came to his own conclusion in that the gibbons
monogamy were likely out of a dietary preference for rare but stable resources (Bartlett: ??? pg.

How The Signs That Can Be Present Within These Phenomena
Photography in itself, is a means of communication, it can be used in a variety of ways in order to
narrate the world around us [Campbell, D (2010)]. As a species, humanity itself has proven to be
visual beings, creating pictures across a variety of mediums in order to express ourselves and
represent what is happening in the world around us. Images, whether they be paintings, drawings, or
photographs, have played and continue to play a very important part in our society, as everyone is able
to understand the image and interpret the story from it, despite barriers such as language which may
prohibit initial communication, and the work of scholars and anthropologists, and even consumers of
visual culture work tirelessly to decrypt and derive meaning from these mediums [Perlmutter, DD
(2003)]. Analysis and understanding of the signs that can be present within these phenomena is known
as semiotics , which is derived from the Greek word semeion, for sign . It can be applied across a
broad range of cultural mediums used in communication. Semiotics stresses the open ended
possibilities for any interpretation and the indeterminacy of meaning that can be taken from visual
cues, and within photography, signs and visual communication of a story is paramount [Semiotics
(2010)]. But is photography, in particular, landscape photography, able to convey the fullness of a
story, and can everyone interpret the images and signs within those images the way they were meant
to be understood, or

Stereotypes Stereotypes are generalizations and overgeneralizations about the member of a group;
sometimes being positive, more often negative, having a resistance to change (Ziebarth, 2009). The
Disney organization does not create the stereotypes, they simply reflect them (What about Women in
Disney Movies?, 2008). Disney movies, however, are filled with stereotypes, ranging from social
stereotypes to racial stereotypes. Although Disney movies are filled with an abundant amount of
different stereotypes, the most common stereotypes seen in Disney movies are gender stereotypes.
Gender stereotypes are when a group is generalized based on gender (female or male). In Disney

Racial profiling is common within the Disney films. Where it is most commonly seen is within movies
where two races are mixing, such as in the movie Pocahontas. Disney is not necessarily discriminating
against a race through film, but Disney is making a point of portraying race and culture through film
incorrectly based on stereotypes. Aladdin is an original Disney movie which brought racial profiling
into question. Simply starting with the names of the characters brings question about race into view.
The two most questioned names were Aladdin and Jafaar, names which were supposed to symbolize
the poor Middle Eastern culture, are names that originally originate from Russia. Also, since this
movie was supposed to be in a Middle Eastern city, the characters all had a dark complexion. The dark
complexion was correct on Disney s part; however, what was incorrect was that all the facial features
were European. By having the incorrect facial features with the dark skin tone it teaches children that
they can sort people by race solely on a person s skin color. Aladdin was portrayed as simply a white
man was a dark tan (Disney s Protrayal of Culture and Race in Film, 2009). Another Disney film
which had racial profiling in it is The Lion King. In The Lion King, white actors played the voices
along with African American actors. The fact that Disney had an interracial cast was good, but the

My Life In High School Essay
Any senior right now will honestly ask themselves how they could have possibly made it this far
knowing how stressful high school can be. To finally come to this point in my life it feels amazing.
Many seniors have their own way of making it to this place in time. I will give the reader my advice
and thoughts on how to make the most of your life in high school.
The first thing anyone will tell you to do in high school is to simply be involved. There are many ways
to be involved with high school, the only problem with being involved is choosing the right activity or
club for you. My advice for anyone who wants to be in a club or a sport is to give each club or sport a
try. It doesn t matter if its FFA or Basketball, just tryout anything their possibly is and you possibly
might like doing whatever it is you re doing to be involved with your school, trust me I m telling you
from experience.
When it comes to assignments you either succeed or you fail. If you re like me, you have most likely
mastered failure unfortunately. In reality is failure a bad thing? In certain cases failure is not so bad.
Failing can be frustrating but when you fail at whatever you are doing you can easily learn from that
failure and correct yourself and next thing you know you re passing that class you were just failing.
Now success is a different story. Success is probably one of the most rewarding feeling there is,
especially when you pull an all nighter on that composition you forgot to do last week

WHO (Who.int, 2016) and NICE guidelines (Nice.org.uk, 2016) both provide guidance and rationale
as to why it is important to perform hand hygiene as well as using gloves as they do not provide

considered the sensitivity of the patient or healthcare worker when explaining the procedure. I have

found that exposure to latex was significantly associated with LA and working as an enrolled nurse
was significantly associated with both LS and LA. Interestingly, the duration of employment was
found to be inversely associated with LA and the exclusive use of powder free latex gloves was
significantly associated with LS and LA. The authors considered that the explanation for this finding
could be related to the healthy worker effect where workers who had developed LA may have left

Skeletal Muscle Analysis
The solid framework is the body s system of tissues that controls development both of the body and
inside it, (for example, the heart s pumping activity and the development of nourishment through the
gut). Development is created through the constriction and unwinding of particular muscles.
The muscles of the body are isolated into two primary classes: skeletal (willful) and smooth
(automatic). Skeletal muscles are connected to the skeleton and move different parts of the body. They
are called willful on the grounds that an individual controls their utilization, for example, in the
flexing of an arm or the raising of a foot. There are around 650 skeletal muscles in the entire human
body. Smooth muscles are found in the stomach and intestinal dividers, vein and corridor dividers, ...

Like skeletal muscles, heart muscles are striated. However like smooth muscles, they are automatic,
controlled by the autonomic sensory system.
The longest muscle in the human body is the Sartorius (purported sar TOR ee us). It runs starting from
the waist over the front of thigh to the knee. Its design is to flex the hip and knee. The biggest muscle
in the body is the gluteus Maximus (professed GLUE tee us MAX si mus; bottom muscles). It moves
the thighbone far from the body and straightens out the hip joint. Skeletal muscles are presumably the
most well known kind of muscle. They are the muscles that throb after strenuous work or activity.

This interviewer was given the opportunity on several occasions to assist in the PerCo business office,
which is also my place of employment. This interviewer was able to gain first hand information
regarding the steps a small business practices to incorporate their business security plan. This
interviewer has chosen this small business due to the complexity that exists due to minimal
employees. In this business office there are only two employees, the Business Manager and the Clerk
that manage the functions of the business operation. The system they practice has been working well
for them for several years. In this report I will expand on each section according to the process method
they use such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, credit card processes, board of directors, and
annual audits.

Emmeline Pankhurst s Suffragettes
Separating Right and Wrong: Emmeline Pankhurst s Suffragette Movement
Women s suffrage has been one of the unsolved problems of the last two centuries. Today, many
countries constitutionalized women s right to vote; however there remain a few that outlaw it. This
ban resulted in women fighting for the right to vote in the 19th century, which gave birth suffrage
movements. While the suffragettes were emerging from all around the world, The United Kingdom
was the heart of the movement, with Emmeline Pankhurst as one of the main figures and she played a
crucial role in women s suffrage in Britain; however her work has been criticized and argued by
historians for their militant tactics and their effectiveness. To this date, it remains arguable ... Show

Other women all around the world began protesting under the name of Suffragettes and the movement
quickly became epidemic. While there were many approaches in history for the same purpose, United
States, Ireland, Canada and many more women around the world adopted the methods of the
suffragettes to their own cause. The reason why the British suffragettes influenced so many other
women is explained in a research paper by Laura E. Nym Mayhall as ...Once the Liberal government
introduced forcible feeding as an antidote to the suffragette hunger strike, militants created a visual
activism, dependent upon the exhibition of women s tortured bodies as spectacle. By this account, the
activities of the WSPU became exemplary of what critic Barbara Green has called performative
activism and visibility politics in early twentieth century feminist praxis, creating almost entirely
feminine communities where women celebrated, suffered, spoke with, and wrote for other women,
and that allowed women to put themselves on display for other women. Many women in the 19th
century looked up to Emmeline Pankhurst, listened to her speeches, went to her propaganda walks and
adopted her methods and women in Britain gained the right to vote in 1928, for men and women over
21, without any other requests of marital status or property, as other countries followed

Service Marketing on Bank of America
Based on service Intangibility
Unlike goods, services are typically produced and consumed simultaneously. The service and provider
are always linked together. Banking is one of industries need much more services. Employees, Email,
ATM, Online banking are the vehicles that the bank uses to deliver their services to the customers.
Products are tangible while services are intangible in nature. Intangibility of services is derived from
the fact you cannot see or touch service. A service is made and delivered on spot and hence it cannot
be measured as easily as a tangible product as you know.
Intangibility of services can be explained by a clear comparison between those ... Show more content

Marketing an intangible product becomes even more difficult in the Bank of America. The ability to a
branch to render quality services is very impossible to market. How can you grade one branch against
the other, because there are thousands of branches of Bank of America out there and the success of
banking also depends on the ability of the customers to corporate. Thus, in such a case, you need to
market customers results to bring attention to Bank of America and the employees. You need to show
the excellent results which the employees has given because the service in itself is intangible service.
Another problem due to intangibility of service is that services cannot be stored. The intangibility of
services is the dominant characteristics of services and biggest challenge for marketers as well as
service product owners. There are five main characteristics of intangibility of services:
Service cannot be touched
There is no precise standardization method for service
Services cannot be patented
There are no inventories in service
The consumer is part of the service process because he consumes the service. Thus, either the service
must go to the customer or the customer has come to the service e.g. Bank of America
Overall, intangibility of service is a challenged being faced by many marketers, and marketers, being
smart as they are, have always countered this problem by being more innovative so that they can

and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers from 5,000 to 15,000. Trump also wants ICE officers to
cooperate with local law enforcement on gang raids, specifically targeting undocumented immigrants
who are believed to have gang connections.
But the candidate has been wavering on his overall immigration platform of late. The Trump
campaign spent several days in August adjusting its tone and language on the matter.
There could certainly be a softening, Trump said in an August interview with Fox News s Sean

He then quickly refused to rule out some form of mass deportation, returning to a hardline approach
reminiscent of the primary campaign.
Clinton focuses on detaining and deporting undocumented immigrants who pose a violent threat to

rising obesity epidemic, which as discussed in the article is fictional. Depending on the income of a
household, the age group of the consumers, or someone always on the go, fast food is something
people rely on every day as their source of food. This article discusses how fast food is often blamed

The Effects Of Google And Its Impact On The Global Community
Trudging through an endless landscape of impossibly thick mud and making as little progress as a
boulder could once be compared to the painstaking task called research. However, as technology has
advanced, humanity has innovated endless global networks of connections to bring the world to the
fingertips of society. One of these is the infinite tool known as Google. While some of today s society
is somewhat skeptical of the overwhelming expansion of the Internet, companies such as Google have
not only provided efficiency, but have guaranteed a future of advancement and vast knowledge
throughout the global community. As minds of mankind have fashioned pioneering technology
throughout history, they have always been met with some criticism; however, countless numbers of
them have succeeded in the face of doubt. Nicholas Carr wrote an article about the effects of Google,
and relates to these historical events. [After] The arrival of Gutenberg s printing press...Italian
Humanist Hieronimo Squarciafico worried that the easy availability of books would lead to
intellectual laziness, making men less studious and weakening their minds . Although those around
Gutenberg were skeptical of the effects his innovation may cause on society, books actually brought
forth a new age of intelligence and more access to learning. The use of the Internet spreads like a
common cold, and many fear its massive existence. However, Carr realizes that Google may turn out
to be beneficial to us all.

Macromolecules Research Paper
There are four major classes of macromolecules. They are lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic
acids. There are many similarities between these macromolecules, and they all play a very important
role in biology. However, there are also many differences, especially between lipids and the other
three groups.
First of all, there are five main types of lipids. They are fats, waxes, oils, phospholipids, and steroids.
Lipids are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water and are nonpolar. The function of lipids is to store
energy and it also helps with keeping the structure of the cell walls. Generally a lipid has a glycerol
with three fatty acids attached to it. This is known as a triglyceride. Phospholipids are a little different
in that they only have two fatty acids and these fatty acids ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All macromolecules except lipids are long chains made up of smaller building blocks. For example,
carbohydrates are polysaccharides which are just a bunch of monosaccharides.Proteins are made up of
amino acids and DNA and RNA are made up of nucleotides. Another difference is that lipids are not
soluble in water. Carbohydrates are all soluble in water, as well a nucleic acids. Some proteins are and
some proteins aren t soluble in water. The function of a lipid also differs from that of a protein or
nucleic acid. There are many functions to a protein depending on what type of protein it is. Enzymatic
proteins help to accelerate functions in the body such as digestion. Transport proteins help move
things across the cell membrane. There are many other important functions of proteins too. The
function of nucleic acids is to store information. Lipids function is to store energy which is the same
as carbohydrates, but lipids release more energy. Lipids release 9 kcal/g. but carbohydrates only
release 4 kcal/g. Lipids also have a role in cellular signaling and the structure of a cell which
carbohydrates do

Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury
Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is
to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to
quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex
People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it
at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the
writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear.
This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to
catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement
in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more
efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society.
H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time
of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end
of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. By applying a historical lense,
readers can observe that H.G Wells and Ray Bradbury are afraid of modernising technology due to
their fear of bad ethics.
The idea of being invisible has always been in the imaginations of children and regarded as a cool
science. H.G. Wells confronts

International Relations Theories Realism vs. Liberalism
Introduction
Social humanitarian sciences focus on studying global political processes and the object of its research
are social phenomena, which are defined as international relations in the world we know. International
relations are comprised of many different categories, such as foreign policy, international politics or
world politics. However, the central issue of international politics is the international relations. The
term international relations has been first used by English philosopher J. Bentham at the end of 18th
century. It is important to note that it is not accidentally that the term appeared at that particular time,
as the border line of 18 19th centuries is marked by evolution of the international relations ... Show

However, the core of realism theory, with its understanding of world politics remains the same
uncompromising struggle between states for power and influence, and not moral and legal principles
that define the foreign policy of a state. One of the baselines for political realism is the clause of the
anarchic nature of international relations. From this point of view, the anarchic nature of relations
~3~
differentiates between international and intrastate relations, which are built on principle of
hierarchy, subordination, supremacy and obedience, formalized legal norms, out of which the
monopoly of government on the abuse of power within its sovereign territory state prevails all other.
Anarchic nature of world relations, from the viewpoint of realism, is defined by two aspects: firstly,
lack of unitary ruling party in the world structure, where orders by such party are to be carried out by
governments of all the states implicitly. Secondly, the imminence of each state to rely on itself only,
when standing up for its interests creates the anarchy. The followers of the political realism theory
base its belief on the absence of the supreme power, legal and moral norms, capable on the basis of
mutual agreement effectively regulate interrelations of main actors, and thus, avert so destructible for
them and the world wars and conflicts. Moreover, realism is based on a very negative and unchanging
conception of human nature bad

Buy Nothing Day Thesis Statement
Americans and others around the world are often struck with what is deemed shopaholic syndrome.
The symptoms of this prevalent matter are spending preposterous amounts of time and money
shopping. To treat this, a Buy Nothing Day was conceived and established in some countries. As the
name implies, it is day when people choose to buy nothing to fight against and raise awareness of
overconsumption and growing consumerism in our world. There are a myriad of flaws in the logic of
the Buy Nothing Day; therefore, the Buy Nothing Day is not the transcendent solution to this problem.
(Claim) This day could be required for the citizens to follow, or it can be through optional
participation. If this day is optional, those who don t over consume will participate, while those who
over consume will choose to engage in a nice day of shopping. An exemplification of this is

There is an overconsumption problem in our culture that needs to be solved. Awareness that brings
change is necessary. Will a Buy Nothing Day raise the suitable awareness? There is evidence that
suggests it won t, hence other holidays, but if it does, what does this awareness solve? Just because
awareness is raised for an issue doesn t mean it will be a step toward solving a real problem. Several
may argue that this day would be a positive if it were required since it would reach all America. Even
so, this would further cause a routine and not bring about change. Also, forcing people not to buy
anything for a day doesn t connote a change of heart in their opinions on consumerism. Consumerism
will still occur equally as much as it did in the past, even if one day out of the year of buying nothing
is forced upon the American people. The arguments for a Buy Nothing Day may mean well, but they
don t include quintessential change.

Frankenstein And Frankenstein Essay
Several fields have studied the relationship between creator and creation. The most significant aspect
of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists,
scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two
types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional
characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein,
in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture
before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions.
Many critics arose over the years to contest the main character of Milton s epic. Shelley, ... Show more

Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold
creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God.
Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can
be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God;
this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God
speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports
our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the
story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be
seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators,
whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives.
Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but
also the creations. In Milton s epic, God creates the father of humankind and the father of all demons.
The characterization of Frankenstein s monster highlights points of both Adam and Satan; even the
monster recognizes this within Shelley s work when he encounters Milton s

example is the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting. On Wednesday February 14th, 2018 Nikolas
Cruz was charged with seventeen counts of premeditated murder. Cruz, a former student of Stoneman
Douglas, shot and killed seventeen and wounded countless others without any provocation or reason.
Even with hindsight, one cannot come up with any conceivable reason or rationale for his action. Most
of these students have probably never met him in person, let alone caused him any harm or slight. As a
result, William Golding would state that Nikolas Cruz is an innately evil person. He killed simply for
the sake of killing. Conversely, Gibran, who is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, On Good and Evil, Gibran argues that goodness lives within each person. Throughout the
poem, Gibran presents several different examples, such as You are good in countless ways, (Gibran
26) and You are good when you strive to give of yourself. (Gibran 10). In both of these examples, he
was taking the readers to a personal level, to draw his point across that goodness resides within
everyone. He seemed to argue that evil was a byproduct of circumstances; it was always created by
other factors; it was never always there as opposed to good. In one of the first lines of the poems
Gibran says, For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? Verily when good is
hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters. (Gibran 3 4).
He manipulates personification, when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves to represent the
idea that evil was formed when good changed by external forces or by necessity. For these reasons, he
also made it clear that we, the readers, have to work to maintain our inherent goodness. In other
words, good will eventually turn into evil if we don t pay attention to our environment or to allow
injustice to flourish around us. For instance, in the last line of the poem, Gibran ends the poem with
For the truly good ask not the naked, Where is your garment? nor the houseless, What has befallen
your house? (Gibran 37 38 ). By ending his poem with an analogy, Gibran is trying to leave a strong
impression on us by questioning if we the readers are good people. He bluntly states, for truly good
people ask not, Where is your garment? essentially saying that good people don t ask questions, but
rather act on

The Sixth Extinction Book Report
Five mass extinctions have occurred throughout the history of planet Earth. It is predicted by Author
Elizabeth Kolbert, that a sixth extinction may be underway. The Sixth Extinction is a book in the
viewpoint of Kolbert and narrates her travels around the globe while she studies numerous wildlife
species. Kolbert claims that ¨Those of us alive today not only are witnessing one of the rarest events in
life s history, we are also causing it, (Kolbert, Page 8). Throughout her work, Kolbert claims that
numerous species are decreasing in population due to harmful human activities, which could lead to a
global disaster.
One species that continues to dwindle are amphibians. The book begins with Kolbert s trip to Panama
where she discovered amphibians were decreasing at an alarming rate. During her trip, she finds that
over 7,000 species of amphibians were becoming extinct worldwide (Kolbert, Page 11). Kolbert s
assumption that a sixth extinction is under way proves to be true because there is a continuous
decrease of amphibians today. Camila Ruz states in her article that Around half of amphibian species
are in decline, while a third are already threatened with extinction, (Ruz, 2011). The reasons
supporting this dramatic decrease revolves around climate change and habitat loss. The impact of ...

The book was very in depth and she thoroughly explained her claims through facts and data. Her
claims successfully explain the patterns of life on Earth through numerous studies and she explains the
dangers of extinction. The author concludes her work with the fact that humans are dependent on
Earth s biological and geochemical systems. Her work will continue to teach future readers the danger
of human lifestyles if necessary actions toward sustainability are not taken. If humans continue to live
their harmful lifestyles, then they will continue to danger wildlife species, the environment, and their

American History X Discrimination
Prejudices and Discrimination in American History X Abstract Stereotyping, prejudice, conformity,
and discrimination are well portrayed in the movie American History X. The negative attitude held by
Derek towards to black people is greatly influenced and learned from his father who was a racist.
Derek also transfers these prejudice attitudes towards his younger brother Danny as he grows up
seeing the racism practiced in his family and his brother. Although these attitudes are based on
propaganda, the two brothers conform to them and even join the Nazi group that holds similar
ethnocentrism beliefs. This affirms and fuels the supremacist attitude, but unfortunately, it also leads
to negative consequences in their lives. Derek murders an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this paper, the prejudice, discrimination, and stereotyping will be analyzed in reference to American
History X. Analysis The theme of prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination in American History X
is well conveyed by the actions and attitudes of most of the main characters towards the minority
groups and most specifically, the people of color. The main character in the movie is Derek Vinyard,
and his white supremacist nature is highly influenced by his father views toward the people of color.
The movie is full of terrible and dark scenes as well as violence, most of which is practiced by Derek
based on propaganda. Derek s father influenced Derek s view of the black people since he was a kid
by talking about the black communication in a negative view (American History X, 1998). As a result,
Derek s mind created a bad, negative image of the blacks in the United States. After a black addicted
guy caused the death of his father, Derek hate for the black people became reaffirmed, and he became
a member of the Neo Nazi. The Neo Nazi members held an ethnocentrism thought against the black
people as they came from different cultural origins. This helped to build their prejudice, racism, and
discrimination against them. Ethnocentrism refers to the belief that one s culture and values are
superior to that of other people. This exemplifies the white supremacist belief of the Neo Nazi led by
Derek. For instance, a

  • 3. The Great Joys Of Reading Roald Dahl s Charlie And The... One of the great joys of reading Roald Dahl s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is the catharsis experienced by the readers when four nasty children are forced to undergo some gruesome punishments. These punishments are carried out in very creative ways, from being turned into a big blueberry to being zapped into a TV, so that they tend to come across as refreshing and entertaining to the audience. However, it must not be overlooked that this small book does present some horrid actions in a positive light, including the sadistic treatment of children, removal of a large population from work, and imperial superiority over indigenous populations. Eleanor Cameron went so far as to deem this novel as a tasteless story that represents the nasty character of the author (Cameron). Though she is correct in terms of some of the atrocious aspects of the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is far from being a tasteless book. On the contrary, it is a book that must be kept on the bookshelves, to inform us of some of the darkest aspects of humanity. The repulsiveness of Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregard, and Mike Teavey are so obviously revealed in the book that there is no room to doubt that they are indeed nasty. In fact, they are never even remotely pleasant, resulting in impatient readers that cannot wait for these children to be punished. Consequently, when karma finally catches up to these spoiled children and their parents who have raised them that way it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Burberry, as well as other name brand designers, has ditched the catwalk and other ancient fashion rituals for a more edgy approach towards promoting their identity. Bartlett had taken an interest in the gibbons, and made a goal to contradict this hypothesis by studying the gibbons up close, and better understand how the availability of food affected their behaviors and ecology. How The Signs That Can Be Present Within These Phenomena Photography in itself, is a means of communication, it can be used in a variety of ways in order to narrate the world around us [Campbell, D (2010)]. As a species, humanity itself has proven to be visual beings, creating pictures across a variety of mediums in order to express ourselves and represent what is happening in the world around us. Images, whether they be paintings, drawings, or photographs, have played and continue to play a very important part in our society, as everyone is able to understand the image and interpret the story from it, despite barriers such as language which may prohibit initial communication, and the work of scholars and anthropologists, and even consumers of visual culture work tirelessly to decrypt and derive meaning from these mediums [Perlmutter, DD (2003)]. Analysis and understanding of the signs that can be present within these phenomena is known as semiotics , which is derived from the Greek word semeion, for sign . It can be applied across a broad range of cultural mediums used in communication. • 24. Emmeline Pankhurst s Suffragettes Separating Right and Wrong: Emmeline Pankhurst s Suffragette Movement Women s suffrage has been one of the unsolved problems of the last two centuries. Today, many countries constitutionalized women s right to vote; however there remain a few that outlaw it. This ban resulted in women fighting for the right to vote in the 19th century, which gave birth suffrage movements. While the suffragettes were emerging from all around the world, The United Kingdom was the heart of the movement, with Emmeline Pankhurst as one of the main figures and she played a crucial role in women s suffrage in Britain; however her work has been criticized and argued by historians for their militant tactics and their effectiveness. Other women all around the world began protesting under the name of Suffragettes and the movement quickly became epidemic. While there were many approaches in history for the same purpose, United States, Ireland, Canada and many more women around the world adopted the methods of the suffragettes to their own cause. The reason why the British suffragettes influenced so many other women is explained in a research paper by Laura E. Nym Mayhall as ...Once the Liberal government introduced forcible feeding as an antidote to the suffragette hunger strike, militants created a visual activism, dependent upon the exhibition of women s tortured bodies as spectacle. By this account, the activities of the WSPU became exemplary of what critic Barbara Green has called performative activism and visibility politics in early twentieth century feminist praxis, creating almost entirely feminine communities where women celebrated, suffered, spoke with, and wrote for other women, and that allowed women to put themselves on display for other women. Many women in the 19th century looked up to Emmeline Pankhurst, listened to her speeches, went to her propaganda walks and adopted her methods and women in Britain gained the right to vote in 1928, for men and women over 21, without any other requests of marital status or property, as other countries followed ... They are fats, waxes, oils, phospholipids, and steroids. Lipids are hydrophobic, meaning they repel water and are nonpolar. The function of lipids is to store energy and it also helps with keeping the structure of the cell walls. Generally a lipid has a glycerol with three fatty acids attached to it. • 34. Fear In Literature Of H. G. Wells And Ray Bradbury Fear is the driving force behind change. When a human being feels they are in danger, the response is to protect themselves. Traumas or bad experiences can trigger a fear response within us that is hard to quell. Yet exposing ourselves to our personal demons is the best way to move past them (Sussex People, 1). Some people will approach the thrill lifestyle willingly, while others will stay away from it at all costs. When interpreting literature, it is important to understand what was the cause of the writing. In most science fiction pieces, the answer is fear. This same truth is evident in the literary works of two authors who shared similar ideas due to catastrophes going on in the world around them. H.G. Wells grew up during an industrial advancement in Europe. This advancement impacted the wars that were going on greatly. Killing was made more efficient and less personal. This affected the morals of the European society. H.G. Wells noticed the issue, and addressed them in his writing. Ray Bradbury also grew up in a time of war. The development of nuclear biological warfare greatly impacted his career. His fear of the end of the world by technology was the supreme basis of all of his works. From this point of view, the anarchic nature of relations ~3~ differentiates between international and intrastate relations, which are built on principle of hierarchy, subordination, supremacy and obedience, formalized legal norms, out of which the monopoly of government on the abuse of power within its sovereign territory state prevails all other. Anarchic nature of world relations, from the viewpoint of realism, is defined by two aspects: firstly, lack of unitary ruling party in the world structure, where orders by such party are to be carried out by governments of all the states implicitly. Secondly, the imminence of each state to rely on itself only, when standing up for its interests creates the anarchy. The most significant aspect of this research considers the difference between nature and nurture. Sociologists, psychologists, scientists, and other professionals have tried to pin down the exact distinctions between these two types of upbringings. In literature, the same questions have been asked and studied using fictional characters, most famously in John Milton s Paradise Lost, in 1667, and Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, in 1818. The complexity of the characters in these texts creates the theme of nature versus nurture before they diverge and arrive at differing conclusions. Due to his mistakes in creating his character of God, Shelley personified Victor Frankenstein as a cold creator to provide a commentary on the harshness of Milton s God. Some have called Milton s God evil and unloving such as Richard Bentley (Read). This criticism can be attributed to the fact that Milton was cautious about creating a so called round character of God; this caution caused this flat creator that has no real stake in creation. When the first words that God speaks in Paradise Lost mock the fallen angels: Only begotten Son, seest thou what rage/ Transports our adversary (Milton III . 80 ) it only confirms the fate that this character cannot be the hero of the story. By doing this Milton created this malicious creator which inspired the cruelty that can clearly be seen in Victor Frankenstein in terms of both his family and his creation. The use of cruelty in creators, whether intentional or not determines the environment in which their creation lives. Shelley draws inspiration from Milton s Paradise Lost not only for the vicious creator in the stories but also the creations. Cruz, a former student of Stoneman Douglas, shot and killed seventeen and wounded countless others without any provocation or reason. Even with hindsight, one cannot come up with any conceivable reason or rationale for his action. Most of these students have probably never met him in person, let alone caused him any harm or slight. Throughout the poem, Gibran presents several different examples, such as You are good in countless ways, (Gibran 26) and You are good when you strive to give of yourself. (Gibran 10). In both of these examples, he was taking the readers to a personal level, to draw his point across that goodness resides within everyone. He seemed to argue that evil was a byproduct of circumstances; it was always created by other factors; it was never always there as opposed to good. In one of the first lines of the poems Gibran says, For what is evil but good tortured by its own hunger and thirst? Verily when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves, and when it thirsts it drinks even of dead waters. (Gibran 3 4). He manipulates personification, when good is hungry it seeks food even in dark caves to represent the idea that evil was formed when good changed by external forces or by necessity. For these reasons, he also made it clear that we, the readers, have to work to maintain our inherent goodness. In other words, good will eventually turn into evil if we don t pay attention to our environment or to allow injustice to flourish around us. For instance, in the last line of the poem, Gibran ends the poem with For the truly good ask not the naked, Where is your garment? nor the houseless, What has befallen your house? (Gibran 37 38 ).
