Familial Support For Children During The Stressful Period...
Familial support for children.
In many cases, parents or other family members are not able to be as supportive to their children
during the stressful period surrounding divorce. One study by Amato (1993) noted that divorce is one
of the life s most stressful occurrences, and adults experience significant difficulty in their life
adjustment after the divorce, which may impact their interactions with their children. Parents are less
emotionally available during this time (Riggio Valenzuela, 2011), and the help and support from
family members that are also experiencing distress from these life changing events are less likely to
occur (Kitson et al., 1982). Also, parents stress surrounding the divorce is known to impair the quality
of their childrearing skills during this time (Amato, 1993). While those surrounding the children are
coping with the new life changing events themselves, the children may be left to learn how to handle
the divorce with limited support from parents, extended family, and friends. The impact on children.
Divorce affects many members of the family including children. Statistics show that annually more
than one million children will go through the process of divorce within their family per year (Bing,
Nelson Wesolowski, 2009). Another study reported that 40% of all children will experience parental
divorce during their lifetimes (Arkes, 2013). A significant amount of research has focused on the
impact of divorce on children. This study illustrates

Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation
Although Abraham Lincoln produced numerous timeless events in the history of the United States of
America, perhaps none more effective as the Emancipation Proclamation. The innovative and
impactful Emancipation Proclamation consisted of two executive orders issued by President Lincoln.
The first order was issued on September 22, 1862 and gave freedom to all slaves in the Confederate
States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. One hundred days later, the
second order was issued on January 1, 1863, this order was more descriptive and named specific states
(Klos, 2014).
Today Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation is viewed and favored as the Government s
first major step in the abolition of slavery. It is also considered the first real addition to Thomas
Jefferson s vision of equality outlined in the Declaration of Independence. However, the immediate
reaction when the preliminary Proclamation was released was that of both praise and condemnation.
Abolitionists viewed the Proclamation as weak, while Democrats and Southerners saw it as
groundbreaking and aggressive. Other than the order itself, the manner in which it was released was a
political and national powder keg (Girardi, 2013).
The first executive order came five days after the bloodiest single day of the Civil War, the Battle of
Antietam. However, this was not the beginning of the use of slavery as a war tool for numerous
reasons. In the

Analysis Of Mirrors By Eduardo Galeano
Mirrors by Eduardo Galeano Throughout this book, Galeano had stories that showed our history and
the brutality in life The stories in the book displayed themes including fear, racism, depression,
slavery and violence. For example, I happen to know from my previous classes regarding the history
of African Americans including from an author by the name of Toni Morrison who suggests humanity
started with Africans. There was similar information from one story called A Feast On Foot and within
the story was the line The human adventure in the world began in Africa (Galeano 1) however there
was the first line that stated Adam and Eve were black? which could suggest racism. Other examples
Galeano relates to include how violent we humans have been which is presented into stories such as
The Torturer s Confession and We Were All Executioner s. One line that got my attention that tied
both of them together was understanding that the most enthusiastic punishers were also the most
enthusiastic sinners (101). It is my understanding knowing that punishers and sinners both caused
torture and mistreatment toward humanity no matter what race, gender or color they might be.
Violence was portrayed in both a racist and religious matter in very few stories Galeano presented
especially on pages 122 128 when he told of stories about the devil being the following: Muslim,
Jewish, black, poor, foreign, homosexual gypsy and Indian. Despite how people view their religious
beliefs, there was

The Impact Of Historical Globalization In Canada
The legacy of historical globalization on the Aboriginal community is still a very much relevant issue
in Canada. Although historical globalization interconnected different countries and nations, it gave
birth to imperialism and colonialism. As a result of this, legislations such as the Indian Act was
implemented. The Indian Act was passed by the Canadian government in 1876 in an attempt to
assimilate First Nations into mainstream society. In an attempt to erase the Indian in the First Nations,
first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald implemented a policy of aggressive civilization which led
to publicly funded Indian Residential Schools. At the time, anyone from the ages five to fifteen years
old were forced to go to a Residential School. A total of one hundred and fifty thousand children was
sent to these school s, however, the negative impact wasn t limited to these people. The effects of
Residential school and Indian Act still resonate for the generations that followed. The systems that the
Canadian government use to assimilate the First Nations such as the Indian Act and Residential
schools left a huge impact on the Aboriginal community. Social problems, such as abuse, alcoholism,
suicide and poverty are only a few of the issues that sprouted from the effects of historical
globalization. The Canadian government s effort in trying to reconcile with the First Nation can be
seen through the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the amendment of the Indian Act, and the Truth

Dental Assistant Career Plan
My career plan is to receive a certification in dental assisting and to graduate with an AAS degree for
dental hygiene. When I enter DMACC, I will first apply for the dental hygiene program, then while on
the waiting list for two to three years, I would like to devote that time period by not only taking those
few required dental hygiene courses but also be taking dental assistant courses. The dental assistant
courses will only take me a year to complete. After that first year on the waiting list, I intend to work
as a dental assistant. It will be beneficial for me to work in an environment in the dental field, because
I will be be adapting to the workforce, building skills and abilities, and last but not least, having the
opportunity to experience and provide dental work in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I prefer to work as an assistant rather than getting employed at any other job that has no relation that
pertains to my field of interest. I hope to use the money I earn for college expenses such as books,

expenses, and to pay for the dental hygienist courses. It will help me avoid taking out student loans
and an extensive amount of unnecessary debt. My overall desire is to pursue my career in dental
hygiene, and I envision myself being a successful oral health professional providing dental services.
During my high school years at South Tama County High School, I have achieved many goals, both

Verizon Argument Analysis
Verizon has a new commercial where the whole ad is based on the slogan half fast internet. Go ahead,
say it out loud. The entire commercial s dialogue has various people, mostly families, including a
mother in front of her child, saying half fast instead of half a$$ed. Clearly, Verizon hopes that a funny
play on word expression, not normally allowed in commercials, will drive sales. The idea of the
commercial series is that most broadband providers have slow upload speeds, making them only half
fast. So, the actors in the commercial complain of the half fast job their Internet is doing when they are
posting pictures or music to the Web. The commercials are highly amusing and certainly stick with the
consumer whether they like or dislike the content. Many blogs and posts on the internet express that

At the end of the day, the purpose of advertising is to sell. Marketers who ignore this fundamental
usually get into trouble. (Chimoff, 2014) Verizon has been a strong competitor in the electronic
communication arena for years. Verizon totes that consumers are looking to get the latest devices, but
these devices are only as good as the network they are on. They boast to be the network with the most
coverage availability and fastest internet speeds. Fiber optic technology provides the most efficient
and reliable way to transmit data to your home. As the largest national provider to offer 100% fiber
optics straight to the home, Verizon s FiOS delivers a faster entertainment and communication

other cable companies connect to homes using copper, FiOS stands alone using the latest technology

Mental And Social Aspects Of Kevin Who Is Diagnosed With...
This essay examines the physical, mental and social aspects of Kevin who is diagnosed with Atrial
Fibrillation (AF) and a known case of transient ischaemic attack(TIA). Atrial flutter or AF is an
arrhythmia which lead to severe cardiac complications. TIA is a nervous system deficit which occurs
as a result of impaired blood flow and usually settle down within 24 hours hence it is a short term
episode. Kevin who is a farmer, lives on his own, needs a thorough understanding of his present
situation and how it can adversely affect his daily activities. However, it is apparent that he does not
understand the seriousness of the situation well enough and at the same time he has a careless attitude.
So it is very important to provide a general ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most cases, atrial fibrillation can end up in a larger left atria and pulmonary veins. Subsequently,
structural and functional changes happens within the heart in terms of size and shape which is called
cardiac remodelling. The initial phase is very important as that is when the the lost stabilities are
restored. Thereafter, if the action still goes on, massive changes happens in heart chambers, cardiac
function gets worse and eventually cardiac failure emerges. IN addition to all the above,
thromboembolism can be simply said as the clot formation in blood vessels which breaks and
obstructs another blood vessel. A thrombus can appear either in veins or in arteries. If it is not treated
properly by anticoagulants, stroke is the end result. Stroke can be categorized into three: ischaemic,
haemorrhagic and TIA or mini stroke. In ischemic stroke, blood circulation to the brain is deteriorated
followed by an obstruction in the blood vessel whereas haemorrhagic stroke is a result of bleeding in
the brain followed by the breakage of blood vessels. Age and cardio vascular disorders especially
hypercoagulable states are the precipitating factors for the former whereas high blood pressure and
aneurysms are the factors for latter. Mostly, TIA occur as a result of narrowing of vessels. If it is not
treated by anticoagulants at the very beginning, there is a high risk of developing stroke by means of
more occlusion in the blood vessel or the rupture. So,

The Human Good Analysis
When a person is treated as a disease rather than an actual human being, it exposes a symptom of an
even bigger illness within our own society. The LGBTQ+ community has become more accepted in
modern times, however, there s is still hate, and stereotyping that dwells within. Often, when a person
comes out they are met with the bright light of self acceptance, but also, they must now face possible
danger from others who cannot accept them, especially in the workplace. A person should not have to
face discrimination from the workplace from the people they serve due to sexual orientation, society
must learn how to overcome their hate and instead value the person for who they are and not for
whom they love. I will dive into a case of discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The easier said than done act to stand up against the discriminator is often never done. In this case, no
one stood up for Jimenez, not even Jimenez herself. When I say to stand up against, I don t mean to
yell, overreact, or use that as a reason to discriminate others. To me, to stand up against discrimination
is to inform the discriminator that their actions are discriminatory and instead ask them why they are
stating such statements. I feel that opens a conversation, and helps to get to the root of why he or she
feels that way, which in turn helps to educate. The great philosopher Rumi, was tolerant of people
from other cultures because he traveled and was able to learn about these different cultures, customs,
and people. He preferred to learn than to judge. Education is such an important aspect in the
progression against discrimination, and we should model ourselves to learn rather than judge, like
Rumi. As Rumi states, If you are irritated by every rub, how will you be polished? (Rad, 2010). I
interpret this as if a person is not willing to learn, how will you ever grow? If that man would have
been able to try to learn about my friend and about homosexuality, maybe he would have gotten a lot
closer towards being

Hiv And The World Health Organization
HIV/AIDS is a an acronym that has become synonymous with the weakening of the human immunity
system and has become a constant source of anguish for the infected and their families. According to
the Center for Disease Control, more than 1.2 million people in the US are living with HIV. What may
be worrying is that 1 in 8 persons are unaware of their positive status. Despite the number of new HIV
diagnoses has decreasing by 19% between 2005 and 2014 , there is still a lot of unsightly statistics that
paint a picture of uncertainty regarding its eradication. HIV is incurable, The only relief comes in the
form of ARVs which help the body adapt to the weakened immune system. Globally, the World Health
Organization, puts the numbers at over 100 million people and most of them in developing countries.
A terrible scourge indeed and a relevant disease to analyze closely.
A virus by definition is is an intracellular parasite with either a RNA or DNA genome that are
surrounded by a protective protein coat. They transfer their genetic material to infected cells .The
Human Immunodeficiency Virus is caused by an infection by either HIV 1 or HIV 2. According to the

The Iran Contra Affair Was A Shocking Incident
The Iran contra affair was a shocking incident nonetheless, two covert operations that took place under
the Ronald Reagan administration. It was a secret operation that involved an agreement to provide
funds or assets to the Nicaraguan contra fighter to aid them to overthrow their Marxist government.
However, it was money gained from Iran weapons deals. The affair took place around the year 1980s
and had two initiatives. First, was the agreement to help Contras that were at war with the Sandinista
Government of Nicaragua. Secondly, was the use of placating moderators within Iran government to

With no funds continue the Reagan administration decided they would keep a hidden profile from the

security council. The NSC (national security council) directed by John Poindexter and Robert

Iran and Iraq were at each other s throats, Iran proposed a request to buy weapons from the united

Free Radical Chain Reaction Lab
Free Radical Chain Reactions: Bromination of Arenes Post Lab Report Reference: Experimental
Organic Chemistry: A Miniscale and Microscale Approach 6th ed., by Gilbert and Martin, Chapter 9
Discussion: The purpose of the experiment as to explore how different hydrogen functional groups in
hydrocarbons react with bromine through free radical chain substitution. The product is dependent on
the type of hydrogen that is being subjected to the bromination, whether that be aliphatic, allylic,
benzylic, vinylic, acetylenic, or aromatic. By comparing the relative reactivity rates between the
different hydrogens to bromine, a hypothesized ranking of reactivity was made of the provided
hydrocarbons: toluene, ethyl benzene, tert butylbenzene, cyclohexane, and methylcyclohexane. This
hypothesis was then tested during the actual lab period by preparing two sets of reactions for each
hydrocarbon: one in light and one in dark. Observations were noted throughout a thirty minute period
in order to determine the experimental order of reactivity. Free radical chain reactions are one of the
few mechanisms that allow for functional ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethylbenzene was predicted to react first due to the secondary benzylic hydrogens present, the most
reactive hydrogen for the three main hydrogen functional group classifications. Toluene contains
primary benzylic hydrogens, the second most reactive hydrogen. Tert butylbenzene contains primary
aliphatic hydrogens but also an arene ring, allowing for aromatic hydrogens to also be present. This is
why it was ranked above methylcyclohexane in the original proposed ranking. Methylcyclohexane
contains tertiary, secondary and primary aliphatic hydrogens. Cyclohexane contains just secondary
aliphatic hydrogens, justifying its place as the slowest of the hypothesized ranking

Evaluating The Relationship Between Logical Advertising...
Evaluating the Relationship between Logical Advertising Appeals, Consumers Cognitive Information
Processing Styles, and Advertising Effectiveness
In the present competitive era, all company communicators seek to put some information in their
contacts or customers mind that affect their decision to purchase. Companies efforts to create attention
to their messages on the one hand and the increasing advertising messages, on the other hand, have
created a significant paradox in the field of advertising. In such circumstances, the advertiser may
spend many costs without reaching the target without the necessary ensuring of their ads effectiveness.
Therefore, the importance of this research is what all have believed today. The purpose of this research
is to evaluate and explain the relationship between the logical advertising appeals, consumer cognitive
information processing styles, and advertising effectiveness. The present study is applied in terms of
the purpose, and descriptive and correlational in terms of data collection. The required data were
collected using inventory and distributing it among 133 students. SPSS and LISREL software are used
to analyze the data. The results showed that advertising appeal has a direct and positive impact on the
logical process style and the effectiveness of advertising. The hypothesis of the effectiveness of logical
processing style on advertising effectiveness is rejected. Thus, advertising companies should conduct
their marketing

The Oil And Gas Industry
When thinking about how all this oil and gas gets from the platforms in the gulf to land to be
produced, you will run across the phrase, flow assurance. Flow assurance is what makes sure these
oils and gases get from point A to point B without any hesitations or problems. Its main purpose is to
prevent hydrates, clogged pipes, and wax depositions. So can the oilfield industry survive without
flow assurance, especially in deep water operations? By reading this, you will learn how important
flow assurance is in this industry, and what serious problems can happen because of the failure of flow
assurance.

Flow assurance is the technology and ability to transport hydrocarbon fluids from reservoirs to export

Flow assurance is the most critical task during deep water production because of the high pressures
and low temperature involved. Now that we have ventured off further into deep water drilling, no
longer does pipe flow analysis mean, pressure versus flow rate. When conditions are wrong, hydrates,
waxes, or asphaltenes form and come out of the well stream fluids, plugging up flowlines and
processing equipment. So, what are hydrates? Hydrates are crystalline, ice like solids that form when
small gas molecules, such as methane, ethane, and propane, are trapped in hydrogen bonded water
cages under high pressure and low temperature conditions. Hydrate nuclei form from the films of
water on the tubular walls. The crystallization of hydrates can result in formation of hydrate plugs
which can end up being hundreds of meters long. The formation of these hydrates can vary from
instantly to a few hours. If there is free water present, hydrates can form in the pipes. Natural gas
hydrates are crystals formed by water with small gas molecules and associated liquids in a ratio of 85
mol% water and 15 mol% hydrocarbons. Gas hydrates have been called the burning ice. This is due to
the fact that gas hydrates are host water cages containing guest gas molecules. These combustible gas
molecules can be

Cowslips Warren, Frith Copse. In the front of the book it has a map which shows where the rabbits
have lived and traveled. The rabbits first lived at the Sandleford Warren; however one of the rabbits,
Fiver, had a vision that danger was coming. A group of rabbits went with Fiver and his brother, Hazel.
The first headed toward Enbrone Crossing. It was in fact the little river Enbrone, twelve to fifteen feet
wide and at this time of year two or three feet deep with spring rain, but to the rabbits it seemed
immense, such a river as they had never imagined. (Adams30) In this story it is May. It s May, isn t it?

The Lives of Working Children from Labouring Families at...
At the end of the Nineteenth century life was difficult for labouring classes due to the constant long
hours of manual labour, the financial problems from the low pay, and the stresses of pandemics across
the country. Working Children/Adults had difficult lives because their jobs were usually severely
energy consuming and in extremely bad cases some developed deformities due to their ruthless
occupations. Additionally, family life could be difficult due to the insufficient wages and therefore a
possibly inadequate amount of food. Luxuries were also scarce among the family and dependent on
their jobs, families would rarely see one and other. Housing was also huge issue in the industrial
revolution due to the highly populated cities where there were small but populated and cramped
houses spreading diseases very quickly. The lives of working children from labouring class families at
the end of Nineteenth century were hard, tough and strenuous. Children normally had to work because
not enough money was being made in their family however the factories preferred to employ orphans
because there were many in the orphanages and they could be easily replaced if an accident was to
happen. Additionally, although these jobs did not earn much, it was normally enough to buy them a
meal (under 11 year old boys in Lancashire received 2s3d). Children were necessary to do small jobs
in small spaces which adults could not do due to their size therefore there were many job opportunities

The Study Of Practice And Practice Essay
The Study of Practice
Introduction As the term refers to the untrained individual, practice may seem like a minuscule
activity that is drawn out to emulate a pattern that is to be learned. As practice refers to motor learning
it is a very integral part of learning a motor pattern. The same can be said for other activities such as
riding a bike, dribbling a ball, or climbing stairs. According to the Oxford English dictionary the term
practice is defined as, repeated exercise in our performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or
maintain proficiency in it (Practice, 2016). We practice a certain activity to become better at
performing said activity. For example, a small child learning how to ride a bike, may use training
wheels help the child maintain balance without the threat of falling off of the bike. The training wheels
help the child acquire the feeling of what it is like to ride a bike. The use of the training wheels allows
the child to practice or get comfortable with the action of riding a bike before actually doing so.
Practice encompasses many other factors that contribute to how well an individual attains and learns a
skill. Practicing a skill infrequently or frequently affects how that skill is performed. The distribution
or spread of practice may affect learning. The instability or variability of a skill performance can have
an effect on the end result learning. Mental practice, part practice, and whole practice are types of
practice that also has

Criminal Appeal Process
Federal Criminal Appeal Process as a Social Policy
The losing party in a judgment by a federal district court, in general has a right to appeal the judgment
to the next highest court, which is usually the United States Circuit Court of Appeals. In a federal
criminal case, the government may not appeal a not guilty verdict, though they may appeal the
sentence imposed on a criminal convict. In a federal criminal case, the defendant may appeal their
conviction and the sentence.
The party who files the appeal is known as the appellant. The appellant has the burden of proof. The
appellant must demonstrate to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals that the federal district made
a substantial legal error, which affected the judgment in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Secondly, as stated above, the burden of proof is on the appellant to prove that an error occurred and
that the error was substantial. Errors that do not impinge on the substantial rights of the appellant are
disregarded as harmless error. Number of Appeals Overview
As a general rule, the final judgment of a lower district may only be appealed once to the next higher
court. Therefore, the total number of appeals is dependent upon the total number of superior courts to
the lower district court, which rendered the judgment. The first appeal is the appeal as of right
(Levenson, 2017). The appeal as of right entitles the appellant to the assistance of counsel (Levenson,
2017).
Steps in Filing a Timely Appeal: File the Notice of Appeal
Filing an appeal is ordinarily a two step process: firstly, file the notice of appeal. The notice of appeal
is filed with the lower district court, which simply notifies the lower district court that the defendant is
appealing the case. The United States Circuit Court of Appeals may not consider an appeal, if the
lower district court has not received timely notice of appeal. In criminal appeals, notice of appeal must
be filed within ten days from the date the lower district court s judgment if filed (Levenson, 2017).
Secondly, file the appellate brief with the United States Circuit Court of Appeals. As stated above, the

project lead as it was originally my idea and my fellows agreed I was fit to take charge. We did indeed
need external help from time to time, for which we consulted our instructors of the relevant
disciplines. Their help was very valuable and I thank them for their cooperation. CE 3.2: Background
CE 3.2.1 The theme of the project was to bring forth an idea which could prove to be helpful in today
s world and bring it to completion once the idea was approved. My first instinct was to develop a
solution for people who are physically impaired and could use my invention to complete day to day
tasks more seamlessly. I was very enthusiastic about my idea and thankfully our course instructor was
too and gave us a go ahead on the project. However we were at first more inclined towards developing
a robotics related project and a vacuum cleaning automaton such as the famous Roomba® but another
group had already taken this idea a few step further so we dropped our initiative out of professional
and friendly courtesy. CE 3.2.2 Electronic gadgets such as smartphones, PDAs, computers and laptops

East of Eden vs the Kite Runner
The desire for love and the need for acceptance can create more than a feeling of rejection. In East of
Eden and The Kite Runner, many characters find the task of love daunting and insufficient to their
expectations. Love presents itself in every aspect of both novels and therefore is a major theme.
Whether it was love from family or lovers, both novels explore the idea of unrequited love and its
consequences on the characters lifelong journeys. The theme of love is a major underlying cause of
many problems within East of Eden for it creates a feeling of rejection by family and lovers. The idea
that love is blind becomes the center of revolution for the feelings between Adam Trask and his wife,

Amir s shame brought on by his marriage to honest Soraya was his poor treatment of his closest
childhood friend, and later understood half brother, Hassan. Amir questions what would have
happened had he not as a child lied monstrously about Hassan which resulted in Hassan and Ali
leaving the service of Baba (Graves 1). These feelings of inadequacy arose when Amir overheard his

death of their brothers because of their jealousy. Both believed the other sibling was loved more, when
all actuality the only reason it seemed this way is because there was more in common between Adam
and Aron and Baba and Hassan which led to a stronger bond but not greater love. Finally, Steinbeck

In East of Eden, the difference between Aron and Caleb was the same as the opposites of good and
evil, strength and weakness, love and hate, beauty and ugliness (Aubrey 1). Aron was all that
symbolized angelic whereas Caleb was everything you would find evil. Caleb would tease and
purposefully hurt Aron out of pure joy in his actions, nothing could hurt him, and nothing could stop
him (Steinbeck 335). In the end, Caleb tries to compare himself to the

Arguments Over The Earth s Age In The Bible
Arguments over the age of the Earth have sometimes been divisive for people who regard the Bible as
God s word. Even though the Earth s age is never mentioned in the Bible, it is an issue because those
who take a strictly literal view of the early chapters of Genesis can calculate an approximate date for
the creation by adding up the life spans of the people mentioned in the genealogies. Assuming a
strictly literal interpretation of the week of creation, even if some of the generations were left out of
the genealogies, the Earth would be less than ten thousand years old. Radiometric dating techniques
indicate that the Earth is thousands of times older than that approximately four and a half billion years
old. Many Christians accept this and

What Is The Differences Between The Monarchy, Aristocracy,...
In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting monarchy, aristocracy, tyranny, oligarchy, and
democracy in Ancient Greece.
Monarchy.
There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute monarchy.
Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any law passed or
suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a figurehead as a
head of state.
In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its unique
two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of Sparta, they
weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from taking too many
decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other monarchies in the
times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer Greece in 336 BCE
(Brand, n.d. ,p36).
Aristocracy.
This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call
today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. This would have given them a
good chance of perks and probably a good way of becoming wealthier (Mahabal, Joshi, 2017).
Tyranny.
A tyranny could be described as a government that would be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

oligarchy of 400 took power by overthrowing the assembly, it seems they were a little tyrannical in the
way they acted, and were overthrown by the oligarchy of 5000, who were more moderate (Cartwright,
2013). In 404 BCE Athens was defeated in Sicily and then there was yet another power change to the
oligarchy of the 30 tyrants, this was a bad time for Athens as these people were really cruel summarily

Lewin s Change Theory
Nurse as a change agent
You must be the change you wish to see in the world. Mahatma Ghandi
Overview
The theoretical foundations of change theory are robust: several theories now exist, many coming
from the disciplines of sociology, psychology, education, and organizational management. Kurt Lewin
(1890 1947) has been acknowledged as the father of social change theories and presents a simple yet
powerful model to begin the study of change theory and processes. He is also lauded as the originator
of social psychology, action research, as well as organizational development.
Lewin s change theory consists of three distinct and vital stages:

Moving to a New Level or Changing

Change by Exception: occurs when someone makes an exception to an existing belief system. For
instance, if a client believes that all nurses are bossy, but then experiences nursing care from a very

Incremental Change: change that happens so gradually, that an individual is not aware of it.

Cancer Caregiver Support Groups
Caregiver support groups play a valuable role in assisting individuals with coping with a loved one s
disease, injury and/or disorder. In this paper, I will discuss the support group, topics discussed and my
personal feelings about the support group.
To begin, on March 19, 2016, I attended a cancer caregiver support group facilitated by Peggy
Morehouse, a social worker. The group began with each group member sharing, in a circle, updates
and challenges of the family members diagnosed with cancer in a circle. The group was an informal
model lead by group members. The informal model allowed members to offer empathy, support,
referrals and insight as needed, rather than be forced to cover specific topics.
Next, the group covered many different

campus. As their protest gained more media attention, it led to the university s president resigning; and
they have started a nationwide movement.
Over 100 universities had rallies and demonstrations. The article also highlights the different protests
on fourteen different campuses across the country. Many of the students asked for equality on
campuses, others asked that buildings be renamed, and for racial discrimination on campus to be

Juxtaposition King Lear
Essay Question: Alexander Pope has said that King Lear is a play that centre around opposition and
juxtaposition. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you
believe the statement is accurate.
King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play
King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play.
Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition and
juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs and
symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander Pope
has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with a
juxtaposition affect.
Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs that
happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has three daughters
named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the play where King Lear
wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter who loved him most.
Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101
102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no more no less. This indicates that
although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to get land from her father. Unlike her
sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they don t love him to that extent and lies. It
seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia is actually a sign of loyalty because she
refuses to love her father in such a way of getting inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father
in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and honesty to her father in this part of the play. While
Goneril and Regan represents the lies and foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are
opposites from one another and it creates a juxtaposition affect. Not only does this part of the play
represent betrayal, loyalty, lies and honesty but it also has a sign of sight. The reason is because

The Human Genome Is The Complete Set Of Genetic...
The human genome is the complete set of genetic information for humans. This information is located
in the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) which in the 23 chromosomes pairs.
Both protein coding DNA and non coding DNA make up the human genome. DNA is a nucleic acid,
which is responsible for storage, expression and the transmission of genetic information. There are
two types of nucleic acids, DNA which stores the genetic information, and Ribonucleic acid (RNA)
which is decodes the genetic information for form a polypeptide chain. DNA is a double strained
structure. The strains are comprised of nucleotides. These nucleotides contains a pentose sugar, a
phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. The two strands are bond together at the bases with the
hydrogen bonds. The pentose sugar is deoxyribose, 5 carbon sugar. There are four types of
nitrogenous bases, which are divided up into two categories, purines, and pyrimidines. Adenine(A)

To What Extent Should Teenagers Get Their License Essay
Because of safety concerns, many states have increased the age at which teenagers can begin to drive.
Yet, many teens need to have a license in order to go to work, due to their guardian having jobs as

quite convenient to have a car so you can do errands for your guardian while they are sick and can t

HSCA would give one the ability to see, in numbers, how often the crimes were occurring.
Another impactful facet of the bill would be to support future development of hate crime legislation.
Legislation, moving forward, would need as much momentum as possible for future implementation.
But as public knowledge, those in support believed that reporting would aid in such momentum. It
would also aid in law enforcement s ability to address hate crimes. For one, with the bill, they would
have access to information that was never available before. This could help in both predicting future

Although the bias was apparent through his speech, it was made provable through the young men s
actions in which he inclined. But this is where hate crime statues become tricky, and face most

Those in opposition, however, would eventually be out reasoned; much thanks to this case in

surrounding hate crime laws. One, being the public display of the serious nature in which these crimes

William Lackey s The Scandal Of Jewish Rage In William Styron
Having a Sophie s Choice is a term that has become infamous after the publication of William Styron
s Sophie s Choice in 1979. It is a noun that describes choosing between two difficult decisions that
have the same outcome. In the story there is a writer living in New York who meets an odd couple,
Sophie Zawistowaska and Nathan Landau. They are lovers, but in the story Sophie s past in Auschwitz
is revealed in greater detail. Through that, it is revealed that Sophie s Choice was the unforgivable act
of Sophie choosing her son over her daughter, leaving her daughter to die in the extermination camp.
In Sophie s Choice there is evidence of violence, explicit sexual content, and offensive language, but
the effect the Holocaust has on characters of different backgrounds causes this to be a text that should
be taught in a high school classroom. The main themes found in Sophie s Choice include the
Holocaust, mental illness, friendship and betrayal. The Holocaust is seen prominently in this story
because it was what the one of the main characters, Sophie Zawistowaska, had to live through. Her
lover Nathan Landau had trouble with substance abuse, and he was also a paranoid schizophrenic.
This was a theme that troubled some people. Nathan was a much scrutinized character. In Lackey s
The Scandal of Jewish Rage in William Styron s Sophie s Choice, he talks about how there are some
scholars who believe that Nathan Landau did not have any reasonable background to be a

Book Review over Washington s Spies Essay
The Truth About Washington s Spies
Madeline Carlson America s first spy ring, better known as the Cupler ring, was Washington s
carefully thought out solution to gain intelligence on the overpowering British troops. The revolution
was happening; there was no turning back and no denying that America was going to gain
independence from Great Britain. Washington needed a plan, a way to foresee what the British
planned to do next. Washington s only solution was to resort to spying. Washington desperately
needed to gain intelligence of General William Howe s next plan of attack, however there were few

The tales show anything from the exciting tales of close encounters to the invisible ink and coded
messages to the life of deception Washington s spies embraced. Rose not only reveals the exciting
tales of danger, but also shows how the deceptive spies and Washington gained mutual trust through
the difficult situations.
Rose s thesis statement declared how honor affected the spies who were a part of the Culper ring. He
first mentioned honor in the first chapter, quoting Nathan Hale, Spying, he agreed, was not an
honorable undertaking, but if the exigencies of my country demand a peculiar service its claims to
perform that service are imperious. The spying game was not considered gentlemen s work, for the
title spy was dishonorable in itself. Throughout the book, Rose proved his thesis by mentioning how it
affected each of the members described in his book along with some internal conflict they had about
it. Rose concluded the book with an epilogue sharing how each of the spies lived their lives after the
war was over, and how many could return to their normal lives without the criticism of partaking in
Washington s dishonorable tasks.
Rose s tales evaluated how the individuals themselves, in a way, altered history. Each individual in the
Culper ring motivated history and altered what could have been in some way. Whether Nathan Hale s
death made him a revolutionary hero, or Benjamin Tallmadge s idea of the Culper ring each

The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay
Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of the
Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant farm
worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships that face
immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser observed The
temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely applied (86). From
sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers take advantage of immigrant
workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve immigrant farmers working and
living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take advantage of the immigrants,
sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers avoid responsibility for their workers
(Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their land to the sharecropper. By doing so the
immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for just about every aspect of the farm operation.
In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in the end would really hold no power or land.
Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the
sharecropper at a very high interest rate. Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went
wrong, sharecroppers simply would not be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being

Criminal Behavior And Its Effects On Genetics
Criminal Behavior as seen in Genetics Criminal behavior is something that sociologists commonly
study. There are many theories about criminal behavior and deviance that have been made. One that
stands out is the theory that criminal behavior, or deviance, being closely related to genetics. This
theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to the same
array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or think like a
criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit far fetched.

They would not be considered at fault because it is in their genetic makeup that they are aggressive
and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the work
of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within the
enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the enzyme
were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that Caspi and
Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2). What was
found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of having an
antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop the risk (Tabury
3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not make the person
having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be possible to actually convict
someone in court and they would have to be considered not medically sane. The MAOA gene is found
in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have two copies of the X chromosome, men only
have one so it s more common that men will have more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par.
10). However, even though everyone has this gene, it does not cause a problem for most people.
Through the Caspi Moffitt study it was shown that the MAOA gene, while being there does not

The Benefits Of Assisted Living
Assisted living has become the generic name for most senior living facilities. However, today these
facilities come in many different sizes and levels of care. Early in history there were only two choices
for seniors, they could age at home with family or they could enter a nursing home. Many seniors who
couldn t completely live on their own and were still to some degree independent and able bodied did
not need higher levels of care offered at nursing facilities; creating a need for different types of senior
living. Assisted living became a more ideal lifestyle for seniors who wanted to age independently.
Facilities have now begun to tailor their offerings to specific populations creating specialties with
differing levels of care. With the U.S. population aging there is not only an increase in number of
senior facilities but also their characteristics. As a result of the baby boom during 1946 to 1964
children comprised approximately one third of the U.S. population in 1970, and only one tenth of the
population was 65 or older. Today, 40 million people in the United States are ages 65 and older, but
this number is projected to more than double to 89 million by 2050 (Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather,
2011). Coupled with the number of baby boomer reaching the age 65 is the fact that people are now
living longer. In 1970 the average age was 70.8 years, in 2010 the average age was 78.3 (U.S. Census

The Necklace, By Guy De Maupassant
In Guy de Maupassant s The Necklace, readers experience Mathilde Loisel s life changing event.
Coming from nobility, de Maupassant tells the story of luxurious desire through the eyes of the middle
class woman Mathilde. Mathilde constantly dreams of living the life of the upper class, and this
prohibits her from acting in reality. Mathilde s internal struggle for a sense of social royalty shows
readers how quickly selfish pride destroys a person s life. Throughout the course of The Necklace,
Mathilde changes from an arrogant and prideful housewife to a modest and humble companion. At the
beginning of the story, Mathilde is portrayed as a bitter woman who thinks she is entitled to a more
luxurious life. While eating dinner, Mathilde thinks to herself: She had no dresses, no jewels, nothing.
And she loved nothing but that; she felt made for that. She would so have liked to please, to be envied,
to be charming, to be sought after (68). In this instance, Mathilde cannot focus on what she is
currently involved in because she is so obsessed with living a higher life. The reader infers that the
consumables of the upper class is consuming her thoughts. One evening, after sulking to herself, as
usual, her husband comes home with an invitation to a party which she reacts to questionably: Instead
of being delighted, as her husband hoped, she threw the invitation on the table with disdain,
murmuring: What do you want me to do with that (69)? As the readers sees,

Barack Obama Won The Presidential Election
On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama won the presidential election; Obama was sworn in as the 44th
president of the United States on January 20, 2009. Originally, Obama s health care plan did not
include a mandate and was criticized. In the Jan. 2008 presidential primary debate, his response to the
criticism was, A mandate means that in some fashion, everybody will be forced to buy health

Organismal Biology
Organismal biology is the study of structure, function, ecology, and evolution at the level of the
organism. An understanding of the biology of animals and plants allows for a better prediction of
impacts on these organisms from human activity. Having a biological understanding of these
organisms also allows for better conservation practices. Organismal biology will allow me to have in
depth knowledge of species behavior, physiology, and evolutionary history, which is essential
information when making management and conservation plans for specific species. Understanding the
genetic structure and background, and evolutionary history of species and populations allows for a
better understanding of patterns of dispersal, and allows predictions to be made about how species will
react to future environmental threats such as climate change.

Raisin In The Sun Comparison
A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality (Lennon) . In
Lorraine Hansberry s 1959 play, A Raisin in the Sun, the African American Younger family lives in a
small rugged apartment. They are faced with the struggles of racism, self pride, and dreams deferred.
Young Walter Lee Younger dreams of being a respectable man able to provide for his family but is set
back by his family s heritage and lack of wealth. Hansberry s renowned play has been transformed
into an ABC production, in which, she would have likely praised. Although her play was altered, the
movie symbolized everything Hansberry stood for. Kenny Leon s recreation of A Raisin in the Sun
evolved Hansberry s masterpiece through the inclusion of developed settings, themes of money versus
pride, and characters played by astounding actors. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story, the characters are placed in many different settings, such as the Clybourne Park house, the
Green Lantern bar, and the back room abortion clinic (Lloyd). Not only were new scenes added, but
some were elevated. The original scenes that take place in the dreary tarnished apartment seem to
portray the apartment to be much less dilapidated than in the play (Toto). Kenny Leonś representation
of A Raisin in the Sun was modified throughout, yet, Hansberryś vision was still preserved (Taylor).
Walter Lee Younger s yearn for wealth ultimately results in a difficult decision for his family. In the
play, Walter expresses his desires to his son, Travis, in a very important scene that was left out of the
movie. Without the interaction of Walter and Travis, the importance of money is not recreated in the
movie as it was in the play. In A Raisin in the Sun, the Youngers are forced to choose between
financial stability or five generations of pride. As in the play, Leon kept the same idea as Hansberry by
allowing the Youngers to be prideful (A Raisin in the

  • 2. Familial Support For Children During The Stressful Period... Familial support for children. In many cases, parents or other family members are not able to be as supportive to their children during the stressful period surrounding divorce. One study by Amato (1993) noted that divorce is one of the life s most stressful occurrences, and adults experience significant difficulty in their life adjustment after the divorce, which may impact their interactions with their children. Parents are less emotionally available during this time (Riggio Valenzuela, 2011), and the help and support from family members that are also experiencing distress from these life changing events are less likely to occur (Kitson et al., 1982). Also, parents stress surrounding the divorce is known to impair the quality of their childrearing skills during this time (Amato, 1993). While those surrounding the children are coping with the new life changing events themselves, the children may be left to learn how to handle the divorce with limited support from parents, extended family, and friends. The impact on children. Divorce affects many members of the family including children. Statistics show that annually more than one million children will go through the process of divorce within their family per year (Bing, Nelson Wesolowski, 2009). Another study reported that 40% of all children will experience parental divorce during their lifetimes (Arkes, 2013). A significant amount of research has focused on the impact of divorce on children. This study illustrates ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation The Emancipation Proclamation Although Abraham Lincoln produced numerous timeless events in the history of the United States of America, perhaps none more effective as the Emancipation Proclamation. The innovative and impactful Emancipation Proclamation consisted of two executive orders issued by President Lincoln. The first order was issued on September 22, 1862 and gave freedom to all slaves in the Confederate States of America that did not return to Union control by January 1, 1863. One hundred days later, the second order was issued on January 1, 1863, this order was more descriptive and named specific states (Klos, 2014). Today Abraham Lincoln s Emancipation Proclamation is viewed and favored as the Government s first major step in the abolition of slavery. It is also considered the first real addition to Thomas Jefferson s vision of equality outlined in the Declaration of Independence. However, the immediate reaction when the preliminary Proclamation was released was that of both praise and condemnation. Abolitionists viewed the Proclamation as weak, while Democrats and Southerners saw it as groundbreaking and aggressive. Other than the order itself, the manner in which it was released was a political and national powder keg (Girardi, 2013). The first executive order came five days after the bloodiest single day of the Civil War, the Battle of Antietam. However, this was not the beginning of the use of slavery as a war tool for numerous reasons. In the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Analysis Of Mirrors By Eduardo Galeano Mirrors by Eduardo Galeano Throughout this book, Galeano had stories that showed our history and the brutality in life The stories in the book displayed themes including fear, racism, depression, slavery and violence. For example, I happen to know from my previous classes regarding the history of African Americans including from an author by the name of Toni Morrison who suggests humanity started with Africans. There was similar information from one story called A Feast On Foot and within the story was the line The human adventure in the world began in Africa (Galeano 1) however there was the first line that stated Adam and Eve were black? which could suggest racism. Other examples Galeano relates to include how violent we humans have been which is presented into stories such as The Torturer s Confession and We Were All Executioner s. One line that got my attention that tied both of them together was understanding that the most enthusiastic punishers were also the most enthusiastic sinners (101). It is my understanding knowing that punishers and sinners both caused torture and mistreatment toward humanity no matter what race, gender or color they might be. Violence was portrayed in both a racist and religious matter in very few stories Galeano presented especially on pages 122 128 when he told of stories about the devil being the following: Muslim, Jewish, black, poor, foreign, homosexual gypsy and Indian. Despite how people view their religious beliefs, there was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although historical globalization interconnected different countries and nations, it gave birth to imperialism and colonialism. As a result of this, legislations such as the Indian Act was implemented. The Indian Act was passed by the Canadian government in 1876 in an attempt to assimilate First Nations into mainstream society. In an attempt to erase the Indian in the First Nations, first Prime Minister Sir John A. Macdonald implemented a policy of aggressive civilization which led to publicly funded Indian Residential Schools. At the time, anyone from the ages five to fifteen years old were forced to go to a Residential School. A total of one hundred and fifty thousand children was sent to these school s, however, the negative impact wasn t limited to these people. The effects of Residential school and Indian Act still resonate for the generations that followed. The systems that the Canadian government use to assimilate the First Nations such as the Indian Act and Residential schools left a huge impact on the Aboriginal community. Social problems, such as abuse, alcoholism, suicide and poverty are only a few of the issues that sprouted from the effects of historical globalization. The Canadian government s effort in trying to reconcile with the First Nation can be seen through the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the amendment of the Indian Act, and the Truth ... Thereafter, if the action still goes on, massive changes happens in heart chambers, cardiac function gets worse and eventually cardiac failure emerges. IN addition to all the above, thromboembolism can be simply said as the clot formation in blood vessels which breaks and obstructs another blood vessel. A thrombus can appear either in veins or in arteries. If it is not treated properly by anticoagulants, stroke is the end result. Stroke can be categorized into three: ischaemic, haemorrhagic and TIA or mini stroke. In ischemic stroke, blood circulation to the brain is deteriorated followed by an obstruction in the blood vessel whereas haemorrhagic stroke is a result of bleeding in the brain followed by the breakage of blood vessels. Age and cardio vascular disorders especially hypercoagulable states are the precipitating factors for the former whereas high blood pressure and aneurysms are the factors for latter. The product is dependent on the type of hydrogen that is being subjected to the bromination, whether that be aliphatic, allylic, benzylic, vinylic, acetylenic, or aromatic. By comparing the relative reactivity rates between the different hydrogens to bromine, a hypothesized ranking of reactivity was made of the provided hydrocarbons: toluene, ethyl benzene, tert butylbenzene, cyclohexane, and methylcyclohexane. This hypothesis was then tested during the actual lab period by preparing two sets of reactions for each hydrocarbon: one in light and one in dark. Flow assurance is the most critical task during deep water production because of the high pressures and low temperature involved. Now that we have ventured off further into deep water drilling, no longer does pipe flow analysis mean, pressure versus flow rate. When conditions are wrong, hydrates, waxes, or asphaltenes form and come out of the well stream fluids, plugging up flowlines and processing equipment. So, what are hydrates? Hydrates are crystalline, ice like solids that form when small gas molecules, such as methane, ethane, and propane, are trapped in hydrogen bonded water cages under high pressure and low temperature conditions. Hydrate nuclei form from the films of water on the tubular walls. The crystallization of hydrates can result in formation of hydrate plugs which can end up being hundreds of meters long. The formation of these hydrates can vary from instantly to a few hours. If there is free water present, hydrates can form in the pipes. Natural gas hydrates are crystals formed by water with small gas molecules and associated liquids in a ratio of 85 mol% water and 15 mol% hydrocarbons. Gas hydrates have been called the burning ice. The Study Of Practice And Practice Essay The Study of Practice Introduction As the term refers to the untrained individual, practice may seem like a minuscule activity that is drawn out to emulate a pattern that is to be learned. As practice refers to motor learning it is a very integral part of learning a motor pattern. The same can be said for other activities such as riding a bike, dribbling a ball, or climbing stairs. According to the Oxford English dictionary the term practice is defined as, repeated exercise in our performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it (Practice, 2016). We practice a certain activity to become better at performing said activity. For example, a small child learning how to ride a bike, may use training wheels help the child maintain balance without the threat of falling off of the bike. The training wheels help the child acquire the feeling of what it is like to ride a bike. The use of the training wheels allows the child to practice or get comfortable with the action of riding a bike before actually doing so. Practice encompasses many other factors that contribute to how well an individual attains and learns a skill. Practicing a skill infrequently or frequently affects how that skill is performed. The distribution or spread of practice may affect learning. The instability or variability of a skill performance can have an effect on the end result learning. Monarchy. There are two types of monarchy one is a constitutional monarchy and the other is absolute monarchy. Absolute monarchs are really all powerful, they are able to pass laws and veto any law passed or suggested by politicians, a constitutional monarch has less power and is really only a figurehead as a head of state. In Ancient Greece there were not really a lot of monarchies, there was of course Sparta with its unique two King system. The two Kings come from the direct descendants of the founders of Sparta, they weren t really absolute monarchs because they had the ephors stopping them from taking too many decisions that could be harmful to the state (Cartwright, 2013). There were other monarchies in the times of Ancient Greece, most notably Macedonia, that went on to conquer Greece in 336 BCE (Brand, n.d. ,p36). Aristocracy. This was the rule of a few elite people. They were always the richest people and what we would call today the Lords or Ladies. They were the highest of the upper classes. • 26. Cancer Caregiver Support Groups Caregiver support groups play a valuable role in assisting individuals with coping with a loved one s disease, injury and/or disorder. In this paper, I will discuss the support group, topics discussed and my personal feelings about the support group. To begin, on March 19, 2016, I attended a cancer caregiver support group facilitated by Peggy Morehouse, a social worker. The group began with each group member sharing, in a circle, updates and challenges of the family members diagnosed with cancer in a circle. The group was an informal model lead by group members. The informal model allowed members to offer empathy, support, referrals and insight as needed, rather than be forced to cover specific topics. Next, the group covered many different ... • 28. Juxtaposition King Lear Essay Question: Alexander Pope has said that King Lear is a play that centre around opposition and juxtaposition. Discuss with reference to symbolism, metaphor, motif, plot or character whether you believe the statement is accurate. King Lear is about the tragic events and the conflicts between fathers and their children. In the play King Lear written by William Shakespeare has many motifs and symbolism throughout the play. Alexander Pope was an English poet who had said King Lear is a play centered around opposition and juxtaposition. Although there is a parallel story between King Lear and Gloucester, the motifs and symbolism in this play contrasts from one another in different ways. I believe what Alexander Pope has said was quite accurate because of the motifs and symbolism that affects one another with a juxtaposition affect. Many of the motifs and symbolism in the play are opposites from one another. One of the motifs that happens frequently throughout the play was loyalty and betrayal. In the play Lear has three daughters named Goneril, Regan, and Cordelia. This happened in the beginning of the play where King Lear wanted to retire and give bigger portions of his land based on the daughter who loved him most. Goneril and Regan praised their love for Lear but Cordelia refused to do so. In Act 1 Scene 1 (Li 101 102), Cordelia says ...I love your Majesty, according to my bond no more no less. This indicates that although Cordelia loves Lear very dearly she refused to lie to get land from her father. Unlike her sisters who have boasted about their love for Lear who they don t love him to that extent and lies. It seems as if Cordelia is the sign of betrayal but Cordelia is actually a sign of loyalty because she refuses to love her father in such a way of getting inheritance where Cordelia wants to love her father in a genuine way. She represents loyalty and honesty to her father in this part of the play. While Goneril and Regan represents the lies and foreshadows the sign of betrayal. These two signs are opposites from one another and it creates a juxtaposition affect. Not only does this part of the play represent betrayal, loyalty, lies and honesty but it also has a sign of sight. The reason is because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This information is located in the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) which in the 23 chromosomes pairs. Both protein coding DNA and non coding DNA make up the human genome. DNA is a nucleic acid, which is responsible for storage, expression and the transmission of genetic information. There are two types of nucleic acids, DNA which stores the genetic information, and Ribonucleic acid (RNA) which is decodes the genetic information for form a polypeptide chain. DNA is a double strained structure. The strains are comprised of nucleotides. These nucleotides contains a pentose sugar, a phosphate group and a nitrogenous base. The two strands are bond together at the bases with the hydrogen bonds. The pentose sugar is deoxyribose, 5 carbon sugar. There are four types of nitrogenous bases, which are divided up into two categories, purines, and pyrimidines. Adenine(A) and Guanine (G) make up purines, while pyrimidines are Cytosine(C), and Thymine(T). Legislation, moving forward, would need as much momentum as possible for future implementation. But as public knowledge, those in support believed that reporting would aid in such momentum. • 34. William Lackey s The Scandal Of Jewish Rage In William Styron Having a Sophie s Choice is a term that has become infamous after the publication of William Styron s Sophie s Choice in 1979. It is a noun that describes choosing between two difficult decisions that have the same outcome. In the story there is a writer living in New York who meets an odd couple, Sophie Zawistowaska and Nathan Landau. They are lovers, but in the story Sophie s past in Auschwitz is revealed in greater detail. Through that, it is revealed that Sophie s Choice was the unforgivable act of Sophie choosing her son over her daughter, leaving her daughter to die in the extermination camp. In Sophie s Choice there is evidence of violence, explicit sexual content, and offensive language, but the effect the Holocaust has on characters of different backgrounds causes this to be a text that should be taught in a high school classroom. The main themes found in Sophie s Choice include the Holocaust, mental illness, friendship and betrayal. The Holocaust is seen prominently in this story because it was what the one of the main characters, Sophie Zawistowaska, had to live through. Her lover Nathan Landau had trouble with substance abuse, and he was also a paranoid schizophrenic. This was a theme that troubled some people. Nathan was a much scrutinized character. Washington needed a plan, a way to foresee what the British planned to do next. Washington s only solution was to resort to spying. He first mentioned honor in the first chapter, quoting Nathan Hale, Spying, he agreed, was not an honorable undertaking, but if the exigencies of my country demand a peculiar service its claims to perform that service are imperious. The spying game was not considered gentlemen s work, for the title spy was dishonorable in itself. Rose concluded the book with an epilogue sharing how each of the spies lived their lives after the war was over, and how many could return to their normal lives without the criticism of partaking in Washington s dishonorable tasks. • 37. The Plight Of The Immigrant Farmer Worker Essay Bernard Lange Professor Byrne Composition I, English 1510 November 20, 2016 The Plight of the Immigrant Farm Worker Have you ever wondered how really bad it is to be an immigrant farm worker? The article In the Strawberry Fields by Eric Scholsser, he looks at the hardships that face immigrant farmers. Though there are laws to try and help the immigrants Schlosser observed The temptation to break the law can be great. The punishments for doing so are rarely applied (86). From sharecropping and low wages to deplorable living conditions the farmers take advantage of immigrant workers at nearly every turn. Enforcing the laws will help improve immigrant farmers working and living conditions. Sharecropping is one way the famers take advantage of the immigrants, sharecropping is the most insidious means by which growers avoid responsibility for their workers (Schlosser 86). The farmer would lease a portion of their land to the sharecropper. By doing so the immigrant sharecropper would then be responsible for just about every aspect of the farm operation. In effect he would become a pseudo farmer, but in the end would really hold no power or land. Sharecroppers lease the land from the farmer. The farmers will lend the money to run the farm to the sharecropper at a very high interest rate. Schlosser notes, under the old arraignment, if things went wrong, sharecroppers simply would not be paid for their work; under the new one, they are being saddled with thousands ... There are many theories about criminal behavior and deviance that have been made. One that stands out is the theory that criminal behavior, or deviance, being closely related to genetics. This theory refers to cases in which different genetic groups phenotypically respond differently to the same array of environments. Basically, it states that through family a person can become or think like a criminal. The thought that genetics can cause a human to become deviant seems a bit far fetched. They would not be considered at fault because it is in their genetic makeup that they are aggressive and want to hurt others. The MAOA gene is a metabolic enzyme, which means that it stops the work of the neurotransmitters, dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, causing problems within the enzyme that are associated with aggression (Wolfson, par 10). These problems within the enzyme were made apparent through maltreatment of children. The primary maltreatment that Caspi and Moffitt studied was when a child was a victim of physical and sexual abuse (Tabery 2). What was found in their study was people with low MAOA activity drastically increase the risk of having an antisocial personality disorder, while people with high MAOA only gradually develop the risk (Tabury 3). Having an antisocial personality disorder be in your genetic makeup would not make the person having it at fault. If it was in ones genetic makeup, then it would not be possible to actually convict someone in court and they would have to be considered not medically sane. The MAOA gene is found in everybody s X chromosome, so while women have two copies of the X chromosome, men only have one so it s more common that men will have more problems with MAOA gene (Wolfson, par. 10). • 39. The Benefits Of Assisted Living Assisted living has become the generic name for most senior living facilities. However, today these facilities come in many different sizes and levels of care. Early in history there were only two choices for seniors, they could age at home with family or they could enter a nursing home. Many seniors who couldn t completely live on their own and were still to some degree independent and able bodied did not need higher levels of care offered at nursing facilities; creating a need for different types of senior living. Assisted living became a more ideal lifestyle for seniors who wanted to age independently. Facilities have now begun to tailor their offerings to specific populations creating specialties with differing levels of care. With the U.S. population aging there is not only an increase in number of senior facilities but also their characteristics. As a result of the baby boom during 1946 to 1964 children comprised approximately one third of the U.S. population in 1970, and only one tenth of the population was 65 or older. Today, 40 million people in the United States are ages 65 and older, but this number is projected to more than double to 89 million by 2050 (Jacobsen, Kent, Lee, Mather, 2011). Coupled with the number of baby boomer reaching the age 65 is the fact that people are now living longer.
