An Individual s Personality Based On The Jungian Theory Of...
As individuals each of us believe ourselves to be unique compared to others, but what if we are not as
unique as we think? Based on the Jungian theory Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel
Myers Briggs developed a test that would distinguish an individual s personality based on the 16
different personalities they believe exist. For the duration of this paper we will provide more
information on the MBTI as well as go into analysis of its validity and reliability in relation to its
utility and finally use our own personal experience with taking the MBTI and how closely it correlated
to our own personality. Description of the MBTI The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test
designed by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. The two designed the test after Swiss
psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung s theory of psychological archetypes (Brown Reilly, 2009). Jung
believed that each individual has distinctive unlearned tendencies in their individual experience of the
world. The MBTI is scored after a participant completes a questionnaire consisting of 93 questions,
after the completion of the 93 questions a four letter personality dimension is created. Based on the
research and design done by Brigg s and Myers, which began as an assistive device for women that
wanted more knowledge about the type of work they would be most effective doing based on their
personality during the WWII, 16 different personality types can be created based on individual
responses

Freedom Of Abstract Expressionism By Chuck Close
Chuck Close is a contemporary artist, known for painting monumental heads. For his subjects, Close
used portraits drawn of himself, his family members, friends, and fellow artists. He chose this
selective group of people because they just regular ordinary folks. He felt that if he used celebrity as
subject matter, this would only distract from appreciating the beauty of his work. In addition all his
portraits are title using only the first names.
Close explored the concept of visual language in his painting but eventually rejected it as he adopted
his own personal style thus making the switch from the freedom of Abstract Expressionism to a more
figurative painting style which has more restrictive controls on his subject matter and his

Population Problems By Garett Hardin
Malthusian view stated that Human Population grows exponentially while the resources consumed by
the population (mainly food) grows linearly. Thereby, there would be a time when the Population
would exceed the supply of food, and thereby would die off due to Famine like situation (positive
checks), or alternatively the humans themselves would use moral restraint including late marriages
(negative checks). Malthus is his essay also states that parents must produce only as many children as
they could afford to nourish and maintain after marriage. In his essay Tragedy of Commons Garett
Hardin too speaks on very similar lines. As his abstract reads The Population Problem has no technical
solution, it requires a fundamental extension in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a very good argument, had the world been an Equal and Just world, but as we know it, the
world is highly unequal in terms of opportunities and resource distribution. While Hardin himself
practices what he preached breeding 4 children because he and his wife, had the capability to nurture
them but states that a poor man must refrain from breeding more than the number of children he can
nurture. Hardin also specifies the way of Inheritance to be unjust as an idiot can inherit millions and
how genetic recombination could make a mockery of the doctrine of like father, like son . Although
Hardin does not talk in great detail in this essay as to the plans that he proposes for addressing this
population issue he says that The alternative to the commons is too horrifying to contemplate.
Injustice is preferable to total ruin. He indicates through the example of Kingsley Davis how coercion
could be necessary even if it is not unanimously agreed upon! From his Essay, it is evident that Hardin
is not unaware of Technological advancements that could alter the resources vs population issues. But
why then does Hardin not consider Boserup s Theory? Is there something more than what Hardin has
expressed is a question that that I am trying to find an answer

Hyperthermia And Chemotherapy Essay
The use of electromagnetic waves in therapeutic applications has existed for many decades.
Nowadays, the therapies that use non ionising radiation and are available for clinical use lie on the
thermal effects of low frequency electromagnetic waves, from radio frequencies to optical frequencies.
Hyperthermia and thermal ablation are currently used to treat various types of cancers, either by
killing the cancerous cells or by locally and selectively enhancing the efficiency of chemotherapeutic
drugs and radiation treatment. Hyperthermia treatment elevates the tissue temperature between 40 °C
and 45 °C, for altering the functional and structural properties of enzymatic proteins that make tumour
more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. Thermal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the complexity and heterogeneity of human brain structure and mechanisms, such as nerve
stimulation, blood circulation and homeostasis, complicates the effort for predicting the temperature
rise and distribution generated by one or multiple electromagnetic sources inside the brain tissue.
Nevertheless, it is of high importance to monitor and control the temperature changes during these
procedures in order to minimise the severe side effects of elevated brain temperatures for long
durations. To this end, non invasive techniques that exhibit enhanced sensitivity and specificity
thermometric are required for spatial and real time temperature monitoring.
Nanotechnology offers enhanced localisation of treatment delivery to brain diseased sites, including
hyperthermia, thermal ablation, as well as chemotherapeutic drug delivery and gene therapy. The
procedure may also be monitored with various ionising or non ionising imaging modalities.
Theranostics is an emerging medical field that uses nanoparticles for combining diagnosis and
treatment on a single nanoscale platform.
In this paragraph, multimodal systems for thermal electromagnetic treatments and real time
temperature monitoring and/or visualisation of the anatomical area of interest are presented
emphasising microwave technology. Additionally, novel approaches for combined therapy and
diagnosis using non ionising radiation in a nanoscale level are presented in the last

Archery History
It only takes milliseconds for an arrow to hit a target, but it has taken 50,000 years for Archery to
become the sport it is today. There is a long history before the war weapon was turned into a sport for
all ages. The first step to learning archery is getting the proper equipment and knowing how to
properly use it. Shooting the arrow correctly takes practice and skill. Archery has changed vastly since
the time it was created, because it has advanced and improved.
The skill of archery has been around for more than 50,000 years. Humans have used archery since the
dawn of history, first for hunting, warfare, and in Modern Times for sport. inquired Pauline Edwards.
(). Originally bow and arrow sets were used for hunting. The first bows were made of one material and
were quite short. The Egyptians eventually made a composite bow, a bow made from many different
materials. They stretched sheep intestines to make the string needed for the bow to function. The
Chinese are rumored to have developed the crossbow which is a horizontally mounted bow that shoots
somewhat like a pistol. Around the same time as the Chinese were developing the crossbow, the
Japanese invented two new forms of archery, Kyudo Yabusame. Kyudo is the Japanese martial art of
archery, which includes rhythmic movements and meditative concentration. Yabusame is a form of
traditional archery where the archer is on a horse. In the year 1415, longbow archers from England
helped defeat the French in the Battle of Agincourt. The mid 13th century held advancements to
modern weaponry. The first recorded gun was shot in 1364. As the ... Show more content on

How Did The Simpsons Impact On Family Values
The Simpsons Impact on Family Values
The Simpsons first came to life on April 19th, 1987. It was aired as a filler in the commercial breaks
of The Tracey Ullman Show and was animated in 30 second mini episodes. Matt Groening, the proud
producer and creator of The Simpsons, made these 30 second episodes after being recognized for his
life is hell comic strip and asked by a fan, Pauly Platt, if he would be interested in coming up with
ideas for an animation. Groening ceased the opportunity and now, 18 years on The Simpsons have
become a global success and have been honored with: a Peabody award, over 20 Emmy awards, over
50 Emmy nominations, over 20 Annie awards, four Genesis awards a Golden ... Show more content

The Simpsons are also so well loved because they have no specific target audience; they have such a
wide variety of humour, from slapstick to academic references, which is sure to have all age groups,
male or female, in stitches.
Family values are basically social norms for describing a family and the proper roles of its members.
Most often, the term connotes a conservative ideology that supports sexual morality and traditional
gender roles, and that opposes homosexual relationships, same sex marriage, and abortion. The term
may also refer to endorsing censorship of phenomena in the media (such as many forms of nudity,
profanity, sexuality, and violence) which children might view en.Wikipedia.org.
Many people feel The Simpsons promote family values because basically every bizarre event that has
happened in every episode has been as a result of 1or more member/s of the family trying to please the
rest of the family. This is evident in Blue collar slob in which homer becomes an astronaut. He does
this because he feels he has lost the respect of his family and friends, and assumes that astronauts
receive great respect. Although this episode can be interpreted as simple comedy, putting a blue collar
slob in outer space, there are also underlying messages that highlight the love that keeps the Simpson
family together. It connotes that respect must be in a family

When I Don t Understand You
There are times when I don t understand you. But sometimes I wonder if I ever understood you at all.
As you stand there on the pier, staring out into that damn green light, I find myself sitting here, chilled
to the bone, my thin shoulders wrapped by a thick woollen blanket. I m too tired to join you, but even
if I wasn t, would you even want me to? I ponder this often; do you even want my company? That
green light, the golden girl you adore like no other, she s your alone. Your vision, your dream, no one
else s. The one thing you couldn t have. My arrogant backstabbing cousin. I never understood what it
is you see in her; sure you have a past together. Guess I ll never truly understand. You do so much just
to find her, you go to unbelievable lengths to make her yours, and... well maybe one day it will
happen. No... Maybe is too strong a word. A chance? Still a little too strong. I still don t know what to
make of it, though maybe it s better like this. You turn your head standing on the cold spot of my back
porch, our eyes meet. But all I receive is a faint smile before you return to your anxious waiting, your
vigil. As your hair blows in the wind a moment of youth flashes across you, you look young. As the
vision vanishes you return as the self made cultured New York millionaire you ve become. The king of
bootlegger lane. I force myself to rise; I m going to do it. I can t stand this obsession anymore dammit,
this unrequited love or whatever the hell you call it. I ve never

Analysis Of The Spook Who Sat By Dan Freeman
During a time when many Negros in American were using means of violence and protest to attempt to
become visible to the dominant race in America, Dan Freeman decides to use invisibility to reach his
goal of bringing the Negro Race out of oppression. In The Spook Who Sat by the Door Freeman
believes that the ability of the Negro race to become invisible is their greatest asset to his race as
Freeman utilizes that ability in almost every aspect in his life. From Freeman s time as an agent in the
CIA to being a social worker in Chicago he is able to maintain his invisibility without anyone
becoming suspicious of his actual plan. In Freeman s relatively small training class in the CIA
academy he is able to almost to go through the whole academy without being noticed by any of his
instructors or peers. Once all the initial screens are completed the class of twenty three men have the

Freeman s job as a social worker is a ploy that allows him to become invisible among anyone who
could interfere with his plans of making the Negro race visible to the dominate race. Freeman s plan to

by means of guerrilla warfare by educating and training the Cobra gang in Chicago and recruiting
them to become about of his Freedom Fighters. Once Freeman gains the trust of the Cobra s and is
able to work with them he quickly makes the gang invisible to the police and authoritative figures in
the city. One of the first way he makes the Cobras invisible is by having them change their image it

The third strategy, focus is when a firm chooses a narrow segment within its industry and tailors its
offerings (strategy) to that segment (Porter, 1980). Focus strategies involve achieving cost leadership
or differentiation within niche markets in ways that are not available to more broadly focused players.
Finally, Porter labels firms that follow each generic strategy, but do not achieve any of them as stuck
in the middle . Porter asserted that the three strategies were distinct mutually exclusive alternatives.
He argued that firms may be able to successfully pursue more than one of these strategies
simultaneously, but this is rarely possible. (Porter, 1980: 35). A firm which failed to follow one of the
strategies was stuck in the middle, which guaranteed the firm low profitability. This objective of this
paper is to thoroughly explain the three generic competitive strategies as presented by porter. The
paper further analyses the competitive strategy of apple Inc and the application of porter s generic

Volkswagen s Impact On The Electric Car Industry
Recently electric cars have become very popular in the United States and around the world, but they
are nothing new. The first electric car was invented more than a hundred years ago in 1832 by Scottish
inventor Robert Anderson, but it wasn t until the late 1890s and early 1900s when electric cars really
became popular. Twenty eight percent of the cars produced in 1900 were powered by electricity, and
electric cars represented one third of all cars in New York City, Boston, and Chicago. However, its
popularity was short lived when people lost interest in electric cars because of their short range, their
lack of horse power, and the availability of gasoline. The introduction of new electric cars and new car

usually found in geological formations beneath the earth s surface. After they find the petroleum, they

Essay On Power In Heart Of Darkness
The Fear of Being Powerless The bitterest contradiction and the deadliest conflicts of the world are
carried on in every individual breast capable of feeling and passion (Raskin 116). It is possible that
those with the best intentions can create some of the deadliest atrocities as passion can take control
over one s emotions. This emotional instability can be seen in Heart of Darkness as Joseph Conrad
illustrates how one s passion of saving others slowly turns into madness that causes hundreds of
fatalities. We wonder, what could cause a man, such as Kurtz, in Heart of Darkness, to enter another
country with the best intentions, to become so violent and be the reason behind thousands of brutal
and torturous killings without ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result of this, Kurtz s biggest fear was being powerless to the natives, leading him to act in
inhumane ways as he did not want to become the inferior. This fear can be seen at the end when Kurtz
exclaims to exterminate all brutes since the natives were unable to change to what he wanted, instead
he was the one who became inferior. (Conrad 2009). The idea of the natives not viewing him powerful
enough to follow his orders enraged him so much he wanted them all dead even while he was dying.
This anger is expressed through why Conrad complex language and syntax for example, exterminate
rather just kill as it illustrates the hatred and frustration he has towards the natives since he has now
been a victim of his biggest fear. Conrad explains how we naturally fear being powerless considering
society has taught us that being powerless and vulnerable will not keep us alive. Additionally, no
matter what, we must stay true to ourselves and values. This is exactly what Kurtz did, he wanted to
maintain his unchecked power until he died, but rather this being his individual decision, and it was a
decision instilled in him that relates back to Conrad s proposition that our family creates a sense power
within us while we are young. We are all given a rank of superiority through

The Annier Synopsis
THE ANNOUNCER is a character driven story with strong potential. The idea of a successful
businessman giving up the security of his stable and financially secure and swanky life for an
unpredictable and erratic career as a voice announcer is highly engaging.
The premise is a great set up for conflict, drama, humor, and character transformation. The script
conveys strong themes about never giving up on one s dream. The tone is dramatic, but with a
wonderful blend of humor. There s also a strong, inspiring pitch to the story.
Steve s goal to become a working announcer and the grand master at the circus is clear and the stakes
are personal. He s risking his family and his home. Moreover, Steve s inner goal is to find his own
voice.

and it s so important to his character growth. Most of all, it s not really clear what emotionally chokes

The audience has to understand what prevents him psychologically from performing. It could be
connected to his father. It could be as simple as recognizing that he s achieving his father s dream and
feels as if he s betraying him. Maybe he suffers from panic attacks/anxiety and he has to find a way to
overcome it like focusing on an object until he learns to resolve it internally in the third act. Once he
realizes what blocks his voice, then he can go on.
Steve is a terrific character. He s extremely likable and the audience roots for him. He has a strong
range of emotion. His dialogue as an announcer is solid. It s his inner conflict that requires more
clarity. At the end he undergoes a powerful character transformation. Betsy is very likable. She
supports her husband. She nicely confronts Katherine about how she has lost her voice to Darren. It s
a well crafted subplot that supports the main

I go back and forth thinking about whether it s right or wrong to so openly give out patient room
numbers but in the end, I think it s really only fair to do so. I think there could be changes, if possible
phone up to a room and ask the patient if they know so and so, and if they want them to come to their

imagine how crazy that would drive employees who are trying to do their jobs. I can guess that most
health care related organizations come across many situations and circumstances that could sway

made very clear to me now, as to why hospitals have boards of directors with members from different

Hunt For Red October Essay
The Hunt For Red October is a film directed by John McTiernan and produced by Mace Neufield and

The film is about how CIA analyst Jack Ryan, played by Alec Baldwin, must prove that the rogue

plot. The first thing that I noticed was the realistic nature of the plot. A plot like this wouldn t work in
a different time period but with it being set during the Cold War, it makes sense, however, the nature
of the characters is one that would make one question it. When we look back at history and the cold
war, we see that in that time period, there was a lot of patriotism on both sides and how very close we
were to nuclear war. In this case, I find it a bit weird that Marko Ramius wanted to go to the United
States. Maybe he was against the ideology of the Soviet Union, but even then it is a bit weird. What
the plot does is it leaves everything resolved, just what a plot should do. The dialogue in the film can
be viewed as realistic due to the nature of the plot, causing one to be confused at times due to topics of

Amplitude versus Offset (AVO) inversion has been used to invert seismic reflection data to identify
gas bearing sands. There are a number of relations which have been proposed to do this inversion.
These relations have been derived from the basic Zoeppritz equations which are nonlinear. In order to
be efficiently incorporated in reservoir modelling software, it is desirable that the inversion is linear in
nature. Some simplifying assumptions are made in deriving these linear relations. These assumptions
are not always satisfied in real earth. Synthetic seismic reflection data is first generated and then
inverted using the different linear relationships. The efficiency of these relationships in obtaining
model parameters will be determined and the effect of lithological changes on inversion efficiency
will also be examined. The inversion efficiency of different

Prof. David Goutor Great success often comes from previous failures. Without failure, greatness can
be impossible to attain. For this and many other reasons, it is unfair to view the Knights of Labor as
hopeless dreamers who accomplished little. Instead, this paper will express the way in which the
Knights of Labour contributed to a greater social blueprint; a blueprint that helped shape future
generations. The impact that the Knights of Labour have had on society can be seen through three

Pain And Fear In 1984
Pain is debilitating. Pain is suffering. Pain is unbearable. It crushes both mental and physical parts of
the body. Pain and fear are the quintessential human emotions. Some people live lives full of joy,
happiness, and pleasure, but no one escapes the experience of fear and fear s companion, pain. We are
born into lives of awaiting fear and pain. Our lives are profoundly shaped by them, as well as our
efforts to avoid them. These emotions are not something that can be turned off and on. Pain and fear

Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate And Crime Rate
The Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate and Crime Rate in Australia
By Christopher Batho During the period of 2002 to 2014, the imprisonment rate in Australia increased
while at the same time the crime rate decreased. This essay will aim to give reasons and theories as to
why this apparent disparity between the rising imprisonment rate and decreasing crime rate exists. To
do this, the purposes for punishment will be examined, how and why this purpose of punishment has
changed over time, the sociological and criminological theories that best explain this disparity, and
finally the implications on society through these criminal justice trends. However firstly we will
examine the statistics that prove this disparity. Between 2002 and ... Show more content on

Property crime includes unlawful entry with intent (UEWI), motor vehicle theft (MVT) and other
theft. The total number of offences for property crime has decreased from 1,188,582 in 2002 to
773348 in 2012. From both sets of data, it can be calculated that in the period of 2002 to 2012, the
imprisonment rate increased 13.5 percent yet the violent crime and property crime rates decreased 26
percent and 35 percent respectively. The question is, how is this possible? This will be answered later
but now the purposes for punishment will now be studied. When a person is guilty of a crime, it is
society s job to punish this person for their act. Once the person has been found guilty, they are then
sentenced by a judge with a certain purpose or purposes for the punishment. The main four purposes
used are retribution, deterrence, rehabilitation and incapacitation. Retribution is defined by Mani as
the offender must be punished simply because the wrongful act merits condemnation and punishment.
(Reference). Deterrence is based on the idea that criminal behaviour can be deterred if punishment is
swift, certain, and severe enough to counter the benefits or pleasure gained from committing crime.
(Reference). Rehabilitation of an offender may be achieved through education or therapy. However, it
must be understood that in order for rehabilitation to be

Mexican Heritage Essay
The Heritage Question
Many will argue that focusing on race keeps us from moving forward, but when faced with reality
people soon realize that the world judges irrationally by the color of one s skin. This is extremely
obvious in Mexico. Socio economic inequality characterizes indigenous groups in this country. These
communities live in environments with higher levels of poverty; have worse health outcomes, lower
life expectancies, and poor academic performance (Servan Mori para.1). Based on these facts, is it
strange to think that these people might want to associate with a specific ethnicity? Considering how
discriminated against the indigenous race has been throughout Mexico, it is no wonder they would
rather be identified as anything but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it is understandable that in this specific system a person would choose to negate their heritage
and opt to categorize themselves as white, the problem here being all their doing is feeding the
problem that in the end will affect them as well. The inequalities in Mexico become obvious when one
is not of the desired European descent, but rather of indigenous appearance. A national academy
investigated genome wide patterns of Native American population structure within and among
Hispanic/Latino populations. They observed Mexicans have the highest Native American ancestries
with 50.1 to up to 64 percent (Development of a para.18). With such strong evidence pointing to
Mexicans being mainly indigenous, there are still some Mexicans that deliberately identify as just
European. The repercussions are the never ending chain of prejudice in this society which affects the
country as a whole, but especially indigenous people which are more marginalize. Another reason as
to why this form of bigotry seems to be tolerated by Mexican citizens can be said was set in motion by
the Spanish colonization and its lasting effects on the people of this country. The system that was left
ingrained in Mexico, which destroyed the indigenous society s integrity and still actively limiting the
capacity to rebuild and unite the country, was that of putting anything of European descent as superior
while continuing to push indigenous culture and heritage as demeaning and therefore unwanted by
Mexicans. Mexican people are primarily of native blood, for any person of this descent to try and
classify as non indigenous is absurd and debilitating to the change needed in the country and within
the frame of Mexican society. The after math, according to Dr. Gabriel Coronado, As an effect of
systematic discrimination,

Summary Of Alumnus Welcome By Shounak Bagchi
In Alumnus Welcomes... Shounak Bagchi, a UC Berkeley alumni addresses the UC Berkeley
freshman Class of 2017 and gives them advice on how to succeed throughout their college years. He
makes them appreciate the handwork they completed to get accepted into the school, but also how to
make the best out of their time while attending UC Berkeley. Alumnus Welcomes... is rhetorically
persuasive because Bagchi was an alumni of the school that he wrote to which gives him credibility,
he used humor to grab the reader s attention and he stated facts about the school, which attracts the
audience s sense of logic. The author was inspired to write this essay because he experienced college
the same way all freshmen will experience college. He went through the same exact struggles that they
are bound to go through at some point in it, so he was motivated to help them survive school and stick
with it no matter how tough it gets. He consistently emphasizes how magnificent the rewards are if
one finishes all of college. One of the reasons this essay is rhetorically persuasive is because of his use
of ethos. Bagchi attended UC Berkeley to study Finance and Public Policy which increases his
credibility because he knows exactly how the freshman class feels and what they are going through.
Consequently, advice from someone who has gone through the exact same thing is a lot easier to take
in. It is hard to tell students how to succeed in school if the adviser did not go through the exact same
thing. For example, if someone tries to give a friend advice on how to deal with a breakup and that
person has never been through one, chances are that it would not be that profitable advice because
they do not know how it feels to go through a heartbreak therefore they cannot relate to them.
Credibility is important when writing an essay, but so is grabbing the readers attention. Bagchi uses
many examples of pathos throughout the essay to appeal to the reader s emotions. For instance, he
incorporates humor by advising the students to ignore the Instagram alerts of kids postponing higher
education to travel (Bagchi, 2017, p. 1). This can bring a smile to the readers face because they
understand exactly how it feels to

negative effects of smoking will far exceed the positive.
Smoking reduces the stress in your life.
Although it is proven that smoking calms you down for the short period you are smoking that
cigarette, in the long run, smoking can be the cause of many stressful issues. Smokers will be stressed
when they end up in a hospital fighting any number of smoking related problems like lung cancer and
emphysema. Smokers will be stressed when they get the expensive medical bill. They might not have
the money to pay this bill because of all the money that they have wasted on cigarettes. If a person
smokes a pack of cigarettes every day for one year, it will cost them nearly $1300 a year. So if you are
a lifetime smoker of 30 years, you have probably given the tobacco companies $39,000(Action on

Stopping smoking can be a health hazard.

How Prone Sleeping Is A Major Risk Factor For Sudden...
Problem/Purpose
The problem/purpose of this article is clearly and concisely stated, they discuss how prone sleeping is
a major risk factor for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and how some of the associated factors
may be signs of cerebral hypoxia. The researchers wants to know whether sleep positions, such as
supine or prone actually has an effect on cerebral oxygenation during infancy. The researchers believe
that this is an important area for research because lack of oxygenation could be a contributing factor to
sudden infant death syndrome. Although there has been a decline of SIDS throughout the years it
remains the leading cause of death among infants from one month to one year old.
Literature Review
The literature does include many current studies. They performed studies in 2008 that showed the
arousal process from sleep is altered by sleep positions in healthy term infants, they also found that at
two to three months of age the blood pressure falls while lying in a prone positon and in quiet sleep.
The blood pressure device that was used was previously validated in a study with preterm infants in
2010. Most of the sources used are journals so they would be considered primary sources.
We are aware that SIDS occurs during sleep, but a knowledge gap would be that we don t actually
know what causes SIDS. The cause of death is basically a ruling out process by a body examiner.

Abstract
Here we report the fabrication of a flexible all carbon field effect transistor (FET) using a low cost,
recyclable and biodegradable cellulose paper as both substrate as well as dielectric and pencil graphite
as source, drain, channel and gate without using any other expensive, toxic or non biodegradable
materials. The electron and hole mobility s of FET are observed to be 180 and 200 cm2v 1s 1
respectively which are comparable to the recently reported values of paper FET with polymer
dielectric and cellulose composite dielectrics. The FET was utilized as a strain sensor which shows
good sensitivity for low strains of both tensile and compressive type. The mobility of the FET
increases with increase in compressive strain and decreases with increase in tensile strain. The
sensitivity of the FET sensor increases with the increase in the gate voltage.
HERE YOU CAN MAKE A COMMENT ON HOW THIS STRAIN SENSOR IS BETTER THAN
SILICON STRAIN SENSORS IN PERFORMANCE.
Further we investigated the performance of the sensor by integrating it with hand gloves to detect
human motion. The results obtained indicate that the sensor can be utilized

There has been much controversy over whether or not to build the Keystone XL pipeline that would
connect Canadian Alberta oil fields to refineries in Texas. The proposed pipeline, which would be built
by TransCanada, would connect two existing pipes, consisting total of around 1,700 miles of pipeline.
The two sides of this argument can be roughly boiled down to two words: environment and economy.
In such turbulent times can Americans afford to pass up a so called shovel ready project that would
create jobs and cut dependence on foreign oil from unfriendly places, or, as some would claim, is the

Music Essay on Beethoven s Heroic Style

most productive period out of his three compositional periods as some of his most magnificent works
were produced during this time (Lockwood, 194). In this paper, I will examine the heroic style why it

Beethoven s string quartet Op.59 No. 3 where in the system two, a fast, rhythmically and harmonically
dense melody is played and suddenly in the end of system 2 (measure 6) the first violin has a measure
long segmented high violin solo. The sudden change in harmonic rhythm and density make this
measure eye catching already but the fact that it is in an extremely high register makes it more jarring
and immediately transiting into a more melodious section, which leads to theme II in the expository
section. Comparing it to the first movement of Beethoven s String Quartet in F major Op. 18 No. 1

the heroic style many phrases like this are separated and the accents on the rhythm are very different.

How Did Harriet Tubman End Slavery
Tubman: her life battle of ending slavery
If you hear the dogs keep going. If you see the torches in the woods, keep going. If there s shouting
after you keep going. Don t ever stop. If you want a taste of freedom, keep going. Was once said by
Harriet Tubman. Harriet Tubman started out on a farm till she escaped and became free. During her
time as a free slavery she got slaves out of farm, rescued her family, served in the civil war ,and most
important the Underground Railroad. Harriet was involved in the civil war because of the underground
railroad.
Harriet was born into slavery around 1820 her real birthday is unknown but that is what historians

Harry and Ben went with her when she escaped but got scared and turned around but she did not.

Genocide in the world is very much alive and continues to happen; it is estimated that since the year
1900, more than 170 million lives have been lost. If you were to think of that in size, it would be equal
to the entire population of Nigeria, gone, wiped out of existence. After the holocaust of World War II,
additional steps were taken to ensure history didn t repeat itself. The Convention for the Prevention
and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was held in 1948, conducted by the United Nations General
Assembly (UNGA) it concluded that, genocide is a crime under international law, contrary to the spirit
and aims of the United Nations (UN) and condemned by the civilian world (Schabas, n.d.). The
Genocide Convention was the first ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This new country was met with high praise and expectations with the United States (US) playing a key
role in their accomplishment. Unfortunately, South Sudan faced hardship from the very beginning; it
is one of Africa s poorest and least developed countries even though it is oil rich and contains the
majority of the oil reserves in Sudan.
The country s leadership was comprised of the two main tribe s leaders. The first is President Salva
Kiir Mayardit of the Dinka people which accounts for 15 percent of the country s population. The
other is Vice President Riek Machar Teny Dhurgon of the Nuer people who makes up 10 percent of
the population. Shortly after gaining its independence, President Kiir fired his cabinet and Vice
President Machar over allegations of a coup attempt. This led to ethnic and political indifferences
between the Dinka and the Nuer. A peace deal was reached between both individuals a month later,
but fell apart after a few days. This put South Sudan in a state of alert, with minor sporadic clashes
between tribes up until the end of 2013.
In mid December 2013, gunfire erupted between soldiers supporting Kiir and Machar, putting the
country in an almost instant state of civil war, with the Dinka tribe fighting against the Neur tribe. The
tension between both groups had evolved into a full

Public Parks And Other Public Spaces In Los Angeles Echo Park
Throughout every major city you will find a variety of parks and other public spaces. In this paper, I
will explore who came up with the idea of public parks, and why public parks and other public spaces
exist, as well as, take a deeper look at the history of one of Los Angeles oldest parks, Echo Park.
The American Industrial Revolution was a period where major changes in manufacturing,
transportation, and technology greatly influenced the social and economic conditions in America. The
production of goods usually took place in home businesses and were crafted by hand. With the
introduction of machine aided factories, the volume and variety of goods greatly increased, and there
was no longer a need for hand crafted goods. By the end of the ... Show more content on

As the servicemen who fought in World War I returned to the city, Echo Park had the biggest
development boom in its entire history. Where there had been farmhouses or vacant lots, builders
added Spanish style courtyards and apartments with arched windows and red tiled roofs around the
lake (Erickson, Echo Park Historical Society ). One of the biggest attractions sat just at the north end
of the lake across the street. Founded by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923, the Angelus Temple drew
enormous crowds to the lake so they could listen to her radio program. The boom didn t stop there. In
1924 a series of storefronts opened one block from the lake, giving Echo Park its first shopping
district. New businesses and recreation centers continued to sprout up all around Echo Park, but in
1929, when the stock market crashed, everything came to a screeching halt.
From 1870 till today, Echo Park Lake has endured many hardships. In the past It has been polluted
with trash and debris, killing plants and wildlife. It has been vandalized numerous times. And it has
been closed from the public due to disrepair. Most recently, after being closed for two years, the Park
underwent a 45 million dollar makeover. In 2013, it was re opened to the

Imtiaz Dharker Poem
Imtiaz Dharker, is a Scottish Muslim Calvinist. She was born in Pakistan, brought up in Glasgow,
Scotland and moved to India after her marriage with her Indian husband, Anil Dharker. After the death
of Anil Dharker she married Simon Powell, the founder of Poetry Live and presently resides at
London. Her diversified cultural experience is well expressed in her poetry and drawings. She speaks
about her experience at home, freedom, traveling, communal conflicts and gender politics.
Imtiaz Dharker is totally upset by the orthodox principles followed with the blind faith without caring
about the individual s thirst for freedom, knowledge hunt and quest for achievement. She shows her
revolt by marrying a non Muslim. She does not want to free herself alone but her community women
too which is well understood through her writings. Her poems are vehicles to carry her longing to the
society that wears the veil in its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The child in the poem has no other option than accepting the blame. She is gradually canvassed that
she is committing a sin by attracting the eyes of men. The world comfortably forgets the fact that all
creatures are created to bring forth next generation including human beings. They declare the
attraction caused by feminine quality as a sin and not polygamy by men. Surya Nath Pandey in his
article A Room of One s Own: the poetry of Mamta Kalia and Imtiaz Dharker says, The body culture
and its degrading fleshy enterprise, inflicts a guilty conscious (48). As she is taught to act and live as
per the rules laid on her, she gradually loses her identity. She feels that purdah is another skin coating
and it is not a garment. The feel of purdah is ever on the skin and the poetess calls it as a wall. No one
in the world has the boldness to converse with them and they develop hallucinations. The poetess
brings out the pathos in an exceptional way through the following

Wealth Management Is The Process Of Meeting The Needs Essay
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT WEALTH MANAGEMENT Wealth management is the
process of meeting the needs and wants of affluent clients by providing financial products and service.
Since ancient Roman senators hired financial advisers to lend out their money, people with wealth
have needed someone to manage it. High net worth individuals thus call upon wealth managers to help
them develop strategies of how to effectively manage their wealth. The term wealth management
started in 1933 and came into more use in the private client divisions of firms like Goldman Sachs and
Morgan Stanley. These firms formed divisions which were designed to deliver different services from
those offered to the mass market. Wealth managers provide clients with a wide range of services,
depending on the client s needs and the focus of the firm. Tax accounting: Financial advisors help
clients handle, complete and submit their taxes. Financial planning: Financial advisors provide advice
on how to reach future life and financial goals by providing information about investing, saving, taxes
and estate planning. Investing: Clients who want to invest seek the services of wealth managers for
professional advice. Insurance Services: Many financial advisors include insurance products in their
package of money management services. Money and wealth management: This provides management
of the client s finances, including selection of securities and completes financial management. Wealth

Stress Inoculation
Stress Stress is the wear and tear our bodies experience as we adjust to our continual changing
environment; it has physical and emotional effects on us and can create negative feelings. As a
positive influence, stress can help compel us to action; result in a new awareness and an exciting new
perspective. As a negative influence stress can result in feelings of distrust, rejection anger, and
depression, which in turn can cause health problems such as headaches, upset stomach, rashes,
insomnia, ulcers, high pressure, heart disease, and stroke. (Koop,1998). The long term effects of stress
on one s health are quite significant. The American Academy of Family Physicians has said that two
thirds of office visits to family doctors are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mechanisms that explain why students perform badly under stress include hypervigilance (excessive
alertness to a stressful situation resulting in panic for example, overstudying for an exam) and
premature closure (quickly choosing a solution to end a stressful situation for example, rushing
through an exam). (Falk,1995). Students react to college in a variety of ways. For some students,
college is stressful because it is an abrupt change from high school. For others, separation from home
is a source of stress. Although some stress is necessary for personal growth to occur, the amount of
stress can overwhelm students and affect the ability to cope. Since World War II, changes in American
higher education includes growth has been a loss of personal attention to students. One measure of
excessive stress, or distress, in college students is the use of mental health services. Symptoms
commonly report by campus psychiatrists portray a general picture of school related stress, for
example, the inability to do school work and the fear of academic failure. One way for teachers to
promote more of a healthy learning environment is to reduce stress among students. Studies of
teachings that produces the most learning suggest that effective teachers use an analytical and
synthetic approach to the subject matter, organize the material well to make it clear, and establish
rapport with their students. Most

No Fault Divorce In Bohemia Case Study
The Benefits of a No Fault Divorce in Bohemia, New York
New York recognizes both fault based divorces and no fault divorces. In a fault based divorce, one
spouse accuses the other of some type of wrongdoing that led to the breakdown of the marriage, such
as adultery. In a no fault divorce, the parties agree that their marriage is irretrievably broken and has
been for a period of at least six months. Although not every couple will seek a no fault divorce, filing
for a no fault divorce in Bohemia, New York has certain advantages. Even if one party is at fault for
the breakdown of the marriage, many couples still choose to seek a no fault divorce in Bohemia, New
York.
Since there are no allegations of wrongdoing, the parties do not have to spend money and time
pursuing and defending these claims. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Bohemia, New York, they usually attempt to create a settlement agreement in a conference room. If
you are planning to meet with a divorce mediator in Bohemia, New York, you are probably wondering
what you will discuss.

mediator. If you prefer, the mediator will not disclose statements you make to your spouse. Therefore,

The Effects Of Domestic Terrorism
Per the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), domestic terrorism is an offense that is intended to
influence or affect the conduct of government through intimidation or coercion. It can also be
considered as a retaliation against government conduct. Terrorism violates many statutes, including 18
U.S.C. § 2332b, § 930(c), which relates to killing or attempting to kill during the attack of a federal
facility with a dangerous weapon; and § 1114 which relates to the killing or attempted killing of
officers and employees of the U.S (FBI, 2016). To be classified as an act of domestic terrorism, the
event must contain specific criteria, such as the involvement of acts that are dangerous to human life
that are in violation of federal or state law. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While domestic terrorism usually has a strong political agenda, religion most likely drives today s
international terrorism. Terrorists involved in domestic events, clearly announce what their goals are,
while international terrorists expect us to know what their issues are. Another difference between
domestic and international terrorists is that domestic terrorists are usually acclimated to the region
they are attacking (answers).
Conclusion
While most terrorist groups generally operate under either domestic or international terrorism, PIRA is
a group that falls under both classifications. They primarily commit acts of terrorism in Ireland and the
UK, they have been known to carry out several attacks across Europe (Ward, 2015). One must
question whether international or domestic terrorist committed the Boston Marathon bombing.

Comparing Obsession In The Tell-Tale Heart And The Lion King
Thesis: With increasingly darkening imagery, Poe s The Tell Tale Heart and Disney s The Lion King
prove that obsession eats at the heart, consumes the mind, and results in self destruction.
Intro
Darkening imagery works hand in hand with increasing obsession in these works. Poe s The Tell Tale
Heart is able to clearly the depict the power of the mind and it s ability to provoke the darkest of
thoughts. In The Tell Tale Heart, the man is disturbed by the old man s blurred eye and becomes
obsessed with it. The man is a psychological mess and believes the old man s blurred eye can see
beyond what an average eye can. The man feels threatened by the old man s thought up ability. He
fears that the old man would betray him one day with the ability ... Show more content on

The man allows the thought of the eye and its ability to see things differently consume him alive. The
man lives in great fear of the eye and that s the only thing he can think about. The man is so disturbed
by the evil eye he plans on dismembering it from the old man since it makes him so uncomfortable.
When the old man looked at me with his vulture eye a cold feeling went up and down my back; even
my blood became cold. And so I finally decided I had to kill the old man and close that eye forever
(Poe Web). The man has failed the test and has murdered the old man, he later realizes that he was
wrong for killing the old man; his true intent was to remove the eye. For it was not the old man I felt I
had to kill; it was the eye, his Evil Eye (Poe Web). This line form the man, closes relates with The
Lion King. Scar wanted to kill his brother, not because he didn t like him, just because he wanted to be
king and Scar was in the way of that. The man didn t intend to kill the old man, his unsafe feelings
towards the eye lead to him killing the old

Telepathy In Stephen King
Allie Balzer
Writing 121 2017 2018
Telepathy at its Finest
Stephen King, a world renowned author, has had much success in the genres of horror, science fiction
and suspense. Due to his success, King decided to share some of his tricks of the trade in order to help
aspiring authors with his book On Writing. Before completing this book, writing to me was just a pain.
I remember this one quote that said, If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all
others: read a lot and write a lot (King 145). I proceed to think, well shoot, I don t do either of those
things. No wonder I don t like writing and I m not very good at it. Then as I continued through the
book, I thought back to the part where King described writing as a form of telepathy, and it changed
my whole perspective. Art has always been a way to express yourself and share ideas in my mind. The
idea of writing doing that, and in such a direct way, kind of blew my mind. The more I thought about
it, the more it made sense to me. The writer and the reader were connected through time and space
with these shared thoughts. The best example of this is the rabbit in the cage: The most interesting
thing here isn t even the carrot munching rabbit in the cage, but the number on it s back. . .This is what
we re both looking at, and we all see it. . .We re not even in the same year together, let alone the same
room . . . except we are together (King 106). The freedom that is opened up to the reader when
imagining

  • 2. An Individual s Personality Based On The Jungian Theory Of... As individuals each of us believe ourselves to be unique compared to others, but what if we are not as unique as we think? Based on the Jungian theory Katherine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Myers Briggs developed a test that would distinguish an individual s personality based on the 16 different personalities they believe exist. For the duration of this paper we will provide more information on the MBTI as well as go into analysis of its validity and reliability in relation to its utility and finally use our own personal experience with taking the MBTI and how closely it correlated to our own personality. Description of the MBTI The Myers Briggs type indicator is a personality test designed by Katherine Cook Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers. The two designed the test after Swiss psychiatrist Carl Gustav Jung s theory of psychological archetypes (Brown Reilly, 2009). Jung believed that each individual has distinctive unlearned tendencies in their individual experience of the world. The MBTI is scored after a participant completes a questionnaire consisting of 93 questions, after the completion of the 93 questions a four letter personality dimension is created. Based on the research and design done by Brigg s and Myers, which began as an assistive device for women that wanted more knowledge about the type of work they would be most effective doing based on their personality during the WWII, 16 different personality types can be created based on individual responses ... For his subjects, Close used portraits drawn of himself, his family members, friends, and fellow artists. He chose this selective group of people because they just regular ordinary folks. He felt that if he used celebrity as subject matter, this would only distract from appreciating the beauty of his work. In addition all his portraits are title using only the first names. Close explored the concept of visual language in his painting but eventually rejected it as he adopted his own personal style thus making the switch from the freedom of Abstract Expressionism to a more figurative painting style which has more restrictive controls on his subject matter and his ... • 4. Population Problems By Garett Hardin Malthusian view stated that Human Population grows exponentially while the resources consumed by the population (mainly food) grows linearly. Thereby, there would be a time when the Population would exceed the supply of food, and thereby would die off due to Famine like situation (positive checks), or alternatively the humans themselves would use moral restraint including late marriages (negative checks). Malthus is his essay also states that parents must produce only as many children as they could afford to nourish and maintain after marriage. In his essay Tragedy of Commons Garett Hardin too speaks on very similar lines. As his abstract reads The Population Problem has no technical solution, it requires a fundamental extension in ... This is a very good argument, had the world been an Equal and Just world, but as we know it, the world is highly unequal in terms of opportunities and resource distribution. While Hardin himself practices what he preached breeding 4 children because he and his wife, had the capability to nurture them but states that a poor man must refrain from breeding more than the number of children he can nurture. Hardin also specifies the way of Inheritance to be unjust as an idiot can inherit millions and how genetic recombination could make a mockery of the doctrine of like father, like son . Although Hardin does not talk in great detail in this essay as to the plans that he proposes for addressing this population issue he says that The alternative to the commons is too horrifying to contemplate. Injustice is preferable to total ruin. He indicates through the example of Kingsley Davis how coercion could be necessary even if it is not unanimously agreed upon! From his Essay, it is evident that Hardin is not unaware of Technological advancements that could alter the resources vs population issues. But why then does Hardin not consider Boserup s Theory? Is there something more than what Hardin has expressed is a question that that I am trying to find an answer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Hyperthermia And Chemotherapy Essay The use of electromagnetic waves in therapeutic applications has existed for many decades. Nowadays, the therapies that use non ionising radiation and are available for clinical use lie on the thermal effects of low frequency electromagnetic waves, from radio frequencies to optical frequencies. Hyperthermia and thermal ablation are currently used to treat various types of cancers, either by killing the cancerous cells or by locally and selectively enhancing the efficiency of chemotherapeutic drugs and radiation treatment. Hyperthermia treatment elevates the tissue temperature between 40 °C and 45 °C, for altering the functional and structural properties of enzymatic proteins that make tumour more sensitive to radiation and chemotherapy. Thermal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, the complexity and heterogeneity of human brain structure and mechanisms, such as nerve stimulation, blood circulation and homeostasis, complicates the effort for predicting the temperature rise and distribution generated by one or multiple electromagnetic sources inside the brain tissue. Nevertheless, it is of high importance to monitor and control the temperature changes during these procedures in order to minimise the severe side effects of elevated brain temperatures for long durations. To this end, non invasive techniques that exhibit enhanced sensitivity and specificity thermometric are required for spatial and real time temperature monitoring. Nanotechnology offers enhanced localisation of treatment delivery to brain diseased sites, including hyperthermia, thermal ablation, as well as chemotherapeutic drug delivery and gene therapy. The procedure may also be monitored with various ionising or non ionising imaging modalities. Theranostics is an emerging medical field that uses nanoparticles for combining diagnosis and treatment on a single nanoscale platform. In this paragraph, multimodal systems for thermal electromagnetic treatments and real time temperature monitoring and/or visualisation of the anatomical area of interest are presented emphasising microwave technology. Additionally, novel approaches for combined therapy and diagnosis using non ionising radiation in a nanoscale level are presented in the last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is a long history before the war weapon was turned into a sport for all ages. The first step to learning archery is getting the proper equipment and knowing how to properly use it. Shooting the arrow correctly takes practice and skill. Archery has changed vastly since the time it was created, because it has advanced and improved. The skill of archery has been around for more than 50,000 years. Humans have used archery since the dawn of history, first for hunting, warfare, and in Modern Times for sport. inquired Pauline Edwards. (). Originally bow and arrow sets were used for hunting. The first bows were made of one material and were quite short. The Egyptians eventually made a composite bow, a bow made from many different materials. They stretched sheep intestines to make the string needed for the bow to function. The Chinese are rumored to have developed the crossbow which is a horizontally mounted bow that shoots somewhat like a pistol. Around the same time as the Chinese were developing the crossbow, the Japanese invented two new forms of archery, Kyudo Yabusame. Kyudo is the Japanese martial art of archery, which includes rhythmic movements and meditative concentration. Yabusame is a form of traditional archery where the archer is on a horse. Most often, the term connotes a conservative ideology that supports sexual morality and traditional gender roles, and that opposes homosexual relationships, same sex marriage, and abortion. The term may also refer to endorsing censorship of phenomena in the media (such as many forms of nudity, profanity, sexuality, and violence) which children might view en.Wikipedia.org. Many people feel The Simpsons promote family values because basically every bizarre event that has happened in every episode has been as a result of 1or more member/s of the family trying to please the rest of the family. This is evident in Blue collar slob in which homer becomes an astronaut. He does this because he feels he has lost the respect of his family and friends, and assumes that astronauts receive great respect. Essay On Power In Heart Of Darkness The Fear of Being Powerless The bitterest contradiction and the deadliest conflicts of the world are carried on in every individual breast capable of feeling and passion (Raskin 116). It is possible that those with the best intentions can create some of the deadliest atrocities as passion can take control over one s emotions. This emotional instability can be seen in Heart of Darkness as Joseph Conrad illustrates how one s passion of saving others slowly turns into madness that causes hundreds of fatalities. This fear can be seen at the end when Kurtz exclaims to exterminate all brutes since the natives were unable to change to what he wanted, instead he was the one who became inferior. (Conrad 2009). The idea of the natives not viewing him powerful enough to follow his orders enraged him so much he wanted them all dead even while he was dying. This anger is expressed through why Conrad complex language and syntax for example, exterminate rather just kill as it illustrates the hatred and frustration he has towards the natives since he has now been a victim of his biggest fear. Conrad explains how we naturally fear being powerless considering society has taught us that being powerless and vulnerable will not keep us alive. Additionally, no matter what, we must stay true to ourselves and values. This is exactly what Kurtz did, he wanted to maintain his unchecked power until he died, but rather this being his individual decision, and it was a decision instilled in him that relates back to Conrad s proposition that our family creates a sense power within us while we are young. Obstructive sleep apnea is undiagnosed mostly in women being 92% and 80% in men. The estimated prevalence in women is 2% and in men is 4%. A study was done by the University of Pennsylvania revealing that the prevalence in women was 4% and 9% for men. Another study called The Wisconsin Cohrt study showed that people who are 30 to 60 years old, the prevalence is 9 24% for men and 4 9% for women. Although Obstructive sleep apnea is less certain in children, in the recent years they have seen an increase of cases of children who have sleep apnea. This is due to the fact of children being obese or to their counterparts. Although there has been an increase of cases this might be an effect of being sleepy or hyperactive. The movie is based on the novel of the same name, which was written by Tom Clancy. The film is about how CIA analyst Jack Ryan, played by Alec Baldwin, must prove that the rogue Soviet Naval Captain, Marko Ramius, played by Sean Connery, is not planning an attack on the United States and that his intentions are truly different. The film is set during the Cold War, in which tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union are high. This adds to the overall suspense of the movie. The plot of the movie is what makes the movie what it is, however there are more ideas and things that go into the plot. The first thing that I noticed was the realistic nature of the plot. A plot like this wouldn t work in a different time period but with it being set during the Cold War, it makes sense, however, the nature of the characters is one that would make one question it. When we look back at history and the cold war, we see that in that time period, there was a lot of patriotism on both sides and how very close we were to nuclear war. In this case, I find it a bit weird that Marko Ramius wanted to go to the United States. Maybe he was against the ideology of the Soviet Union, but even then it is a bit weird. What the plot does is it leaves everything resolved, just what a plot should do. The dialogue in the film can be viewed as realistic due to the nature of the plot, causing one to be confused at times due to topics of discussion involving the submarines or anything along the subject line. The overall theme that I felt in the movie was the theme of discovery. Throughout the motion picture, we see Jack Ryan try and find the Red October, leading me to the theme of ... There are a number of relations which have been proposed to do this inversion. These relations have been derived from the basic Zoeppritz equations which are nonlinear. In order to be efficiently incorporated in reservoir modelling software, it is desirable that the inversion is linear in nature. Some simplifying assumptions are made in deriving these linear relations. These assumptions are not always satisfied in real earth. Synthetic seismic reflection data is first generated and then inverted using the different linear relationships. The efficiency of these relationships in obtaining model parameters will be determined and the effect of lithological changes on inversion efficiency will also be examined. Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate And Crime Rate The Disparity Between Imprisonment Rate and Crime Rate in Australia By Christopher Batho During the period of 2002 to 2014, the imprisonment rate in Australia increased while at the same time the crime rate decreased. This essay will aim to give reasons and theories as to why this apparent disparity between the rising imprisonment rate and decreasing crime rate exists. To do this, the purposes for punishment will be examined, how and why this purpose of punishment has changed over time, the sociological and criminological theories that best explain this disparity, and finally the implications on society through these criminal justice trends. The total number of offences for property crime has decreased from 1,188,582 in 2002 to 773348 in 2012. From both sets of data, it can be calculated that in the period of 2002 to 2012, the imprisonment rate increased 13.5 percent yet the violent crime and property crime rates decreased 26 percent and 35 percent respectively. The question is, how is this possible? This will be answered later but now the purposes for punishment will now be studied. When a person is guilty of a crime, it is society s job to punish this person for their act. Once the person has been found guilty, they are then sentenced by a judge with a certain purpose or purposes for the punishment. The main four purposes used are retribution, deterrence, rehabilitation and incapacitation. Retribution is defined by Mani as the offender must be punished simply because the wrongful act merits condemnation and punishment. (Reference). Deterrence is based on the idea that criminal behaviour can be deterred if punishment is swift, certain, and severe enough to counter the benefits or pleasure gained from committing crime. Mexican Heritage Essay The Heritage Question Many will argue that focusing on race keeps us from moving forward, but when faced with reality people soon realize that the world judges irrationally by the color of one s skin. This is extremely obvious in Mexico. Socio economic inequality characterizes indigenous groups in this country. These communities live in environments with higher levels of poverty; have worse health outcomes, lower life expectancies, and poor academic performance (Servan Mori para.1). Based on these facts, is it strange to think that these people might want to associate with a specific ethnicity? Considering how discriminated against the indigenous race has been throughout Mexico, it is no wonder they would rather be identified as anything but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While it is understandable that in this specific system a person would choose to negate their heritage and opt to categorize themselves as white, the problem here being all their doing is feeding the problem that in the end will affect them as well. The inequalities in Mexico become obvious when one is not of the desired European descent, but rather of indigenous appearance. A national academy investigated genome wide patterns of Native American population structure within and among Hispanic/Latino populations. They observed Mexicans have the highest Native American ancestries with 50.1 to up to 64 percent (Development of a para.18). With such strong evidence pointing to Mexicans being mainly indigenous, there are still some Mexicans that deliberately identify as just European. The repercussions are the never ending chain of prejudice in this society which affects the country as a whole, but especially indigenous people which are more marginalize. Another reason as to why this form of bigotry seems to be tolerated by Mexican citizens can be said was set in motion by the Spanish colonization and its lasting effects on the people of this country. The system that was left ingrained in Mexico, which destroyed the indigenous society s integrity and still actively limiting the capacity to rebuild and unite the country, was that of putting anything of European descent as superior while continuing to push indigenous culture and heritage as demeaning and therefore unwanted by Mexicans. Mexican people are primarily of native blood, for any person of this descent to try and classify as non indigenous is absurd and debilitating to the change needed in the country and within the frame of Mexican society. • 27. Summary Of Alumnus Welcome By Shounak Bagchi In Alumnus Welcomes... Shounak Bagchi, a UC Berkeley alumni addresses the UC Berkeley freshman Class of 2017 and gives them advice on how to succeed throughout their college years. He makes them appreciate the handwork they completed to get accepted into the school, but also how to make the best out of their time while attending UC Berkeley. Alumnus Welcomes... is rhetorically persuasive because Bagchi was an alumni of the school that he wrote to which gives him credibility, he used humor to grab the reader s attention and he stated facts about the school, which attracts the audience s sense of logic. The author was inspired to write this essay because he experienced college the same way all freshmen will experience college. He went through the same exact struggles that they are bound to go through at some point in it, so he was motivated to help them survive school and stick with it no matter how tough it gets. He consistently emphasizes how magnificent the rewards are if one finishes all of college. One of the reasons this essay is rhetorically persuasive is because of his use of ethos. Bagchi attended UC Berkeley to study Finance and Public Policy which increases his credibility because he knows exactly how the freshman class feels and what they are going through. Consequently, advice from someone who has gone through the exact same thing is a lot easier to take in. It is hard to tell students how to succeed in school if the adviser did not go through the exact same thing. For example, if someone tries to give a friend advice on how to deal with a breakup and that person has never been through one, chances are that it would not be that profitable advice because they do not know how it feels to go through a heartbreak therefore they cannot relate to them. Credibility is important when writing an essay, but so is grabbing the readers attention. Bagchi uses many examples of pathos throughout the essay to appeal to the reader s emotions. For instance, he incorporates humor by advising the students to ignore the Instagram alerts of kids postponing higher education to travel (Bagchi, 2017, p. 1). This can bring a smile to the readers face because they understand exactly how it feels to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem/Purpose The problem/purpose of this article is clearly and concisely stated, they discuss how prone sleeping is a major risk factor for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), and how some of the associated factors may be signs of cerebral hypoxia. The researchers wants to know whether sleep positions, such as supine or prone actually has an effect on cerebral oxygenation during infancy. The researchers believe that this is an important area for research because lack of oxygenation could be a contributing factor to sudden infant death syndrome. Although there has been a decline of SIDS throughout the years it remains the leading cause of death among infants from one month to one year old. Literature Review The literature does include many current studies. They performed studies in 2008 that showed the arousal process from sleep is altered by sleep positions in healthy term infants, they also found that at two to three months of age the blood pressure falls while lying in a prone positon and in quiet sleep. The blood pressure device that was used was previously validated in a study with preterm infants in 2010. Most of the sources used are journals so they would be considered primary sources. This led to ethnic and political indifferences between the Dinka and the Nuer. A peace deal was reached between both individuals a month later, but fell apart after a few days. This put South Sudan in a state of alert, with minor sporadic clashes between tribes up until the end of 2013. Telepathy In Stephen King Allie Balzer Writing 121 2017 2018 Telepathy at its Finest Stephen King, a world renowned author, has had much success in the genres of horror, science fiction and suspense.
