The World Of Convection, Conduction, And Radiation
The World of Convection, Conduction, and Radiation In our physical world, there are a multitude of
phenomenon that occur daily that we experience that often go unnoticed. It contains a vast array of
conceptual applications and the equations applied to them in order to better explain and calculate the
phenomenon involved. In a normal occurrence an individual can explain and calculate certain aspects
of movement and processes that are also involved with it. When dealing with the transferring of heat
and various process related to heat, the terms convection, conduction and radiation are frequently
discussed thoroughly. The overall field of thermodynamics involves the study of thermal processes in
physical systems. Some terms involved with these particular concepts include: closed system,
empirical law, free energy, joule s law, specific, temperature, and thermodynamics. The general
defined term of convection is the heat transfer by mass motion of a fluid such as air or water when the
heated fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat, carrying energy with it (Georgia State
University). In the world of physics, the term conduction is usually defined as a form of heat transfer
by the way of molecular tension inside an object or material that does not show any individual motion
in its entirety (Georgia State University). Radiation by means of physics related terms is defined as the
emission or transmission of energy in the form of waves or particles through a

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
Counseling therapies are as diverse as the counselors who practice them and the clients who
experience them. Most counselors use a specific theory when working with their diverse clients.
Understanding and applying the appropriate therapy for each unique client in the counseling session is
imperative. Common theories include, person centered therapy, solution focused therapy, Adlerian
therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. These theories can be applied when counseling, however they
do have their limitations. Specifically, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) contains methods that
can be used with all age groups because of its broad techniques such as, exception questions, the
miracle question, and scaling questions. This theory can be especially helpful when working with
college students. Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) has been in development since the early 1980
s, and has been described as a postmodern solution talk approach. Steve De Shazar and Insoo Kim
Berg developed SFBT at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After marriage,
they continued to modify their research and brief therapy is used successfully today in psychotherapy
and coaching (Corey, 2017). SFBT is a goal directed, future focused, short term therapeutic approach.
According to Gerald Corey (2017), De Shazar believes clients ... Show more content on

This approach uses reframing techniques to construct new views and does not label the person with a
diagnosis, therefore allowing the individual freedom of expression. For instance, a case where a
student is struggling with passing their English course. A counselor can apply SFBT by asking the
exception question: When are the times you managed to pass an English class? This technique will
help the client reframe their situation and show that at a certain point in time they were passing, and
that this goal is

A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah Analysis
Politics Are Not The Bomb
When mad, one may act vengefully without thinking. Others take time to mull things over and think of
plans of revenge. In either case, retaliation or vengeance is never positive or fruitful. These negative
effects can clearly be seen in Ishmael Beah s A Long Way Gone through Beah s experiences as a child
soldier, as well as Al Qaeda s attacks on the Atocha train station in Madrid, Spain. Beah s
representation of the effects and dangers of vengeance helps delineate the terrorists reasons behind
their attacks in Spain because both Beah and the terrorists sought retribution for what had been done
to them. During rush hour on the morning of March 11, 2004, the Atocha train station in Madrid,
Spain, was very busy. People ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When his family was murdered he was filled up with anger (Beah 95). All he wanted to do was kill
whoever was responsible. Beah and his soldiers gain nothing through violence and murder. In fact, it
causes all the child soldiers to suffer from extreme PTSD and have awful nightmares and a guilty
conscience. Qaeda went through the same thought process when Spanish troops invaded Iraq and one
of their cells was dismantled. They thought they would get their point across by killing 191 people.
Just as Ishmael Beah does, the terrorists resorted to violence and avengement as a means of getting
what they wanted. Al Qaeda s main goal, to get Spanish troops out of Iraq, succeeded in the end. By
bombarding a train station full of people they succeeded in changing the public s opinion and,
therefore, forced the citizens of Spain to vote for a leader that would pull out all troops from

The War Of The Vietnam War
Between 1964 and 1975 the heightened tensions over the Vietnam war caused many americans to
become divided on the actions taken by the government across seas. Americans questioned whether
the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the
Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the people,
but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the gap
between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military action,
causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense of distrust
between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during the Vietnam
War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration and the reports
on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. When Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon
Papers to the media in 1971 he increased the public s distrust in the American government. The
pentagon papers, originally named Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task
Force by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, contained secret government reports detailing the
decisions made in the Vietnam War under the Kennedy and Johnson administration. Also written
within the report was a detailed layout of operation Rolling Thunder, in which the United States
strategically bombed north Vietnam from

The Theory Of Corporate Social Responsibility
Historical background of the development of CSR is almost as important as the ongoing discussion on
what CSR is and how and where it should operate. Many scholars argue that these are not
interchangeable and need to be assessed in conjunction with each other. For purposes of this paper it is
pivotal to look into the past to see what stood behind the broadening of companies accountability
beyond the standard agency theory (limited liability of shareholders for the company s violations or
breach and the company s main accountability being towards its shareholders and investors only) to
the stakeholder theory (company s accountability towards a broad range of stakeholders, including
employees, environment and local communities). The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This at the time was widely opposed by proponents of corporate isolation as a highly irrelevant
research topic that went in no parallel or connection with the idea of a corporate veil, charter
accountability and the sole purpose of any company to bring profits to its shareholders. This reverts us
back to the development of a stakeholder theory that gradually gained its speed in the 1970s . It soon
found its implementation in Freeman s management discipline , who promoted the expansion of firms
accountability towards a broader range of stakeholders. One of the examples of how attitude towards
CSR by multinational corporations has changed was raised by Lee, when he reviewed corporate
governance codes and practices of Ford . He used two instances in the history of corporate actions of
Ford with an interval of 80 years in between them. Keeping in mind the abovementioned Clark s
remarks on corporate accountability back in 1916, this becomes even more educational, as it shows a
dramatic change in shareholders perception of their business as a service to the broader society. There,
in 1919 Ford was faced with a lawsuit, as a result of which it agreed to grant Dodge brothers their
request to receive maximum dividends . The respective court decision was an indirect ridicule of

A Brief Note On The American Association Of Orthopedic...
FIC AIMS
Background and problem to be addressed: According to the American Association of Orthopedic
Surgeon s (AAOS), chondrosarcomas are the second leading cause of bone cancers, as well as the
most difficult to treat (1). Currently, the only effective treatment includes chemotherapy and wide
surgical resection of the bone and cartilaginous tissue surrounding the tumor, which is incredibly
invasive and painful for the patient (2). Depending on the location of the tumor, however, surgical
resection might not always be possible. Also, if the margin is not wide, the tumor can recur.
Alternatives to resection include debulking and intralesional surgery, but these are associated with a
recurrence rate of up to 93% (3,4). Therefore, developing a less invasive alternative treatment would
be a significant advancement in quality of life for patients with chondrosarcomas.
Long term goal: The long term goal of this research program is to find effective treatment for
chondrosarcomas. Here, we propose to test whether iron depletion therapy can be used to improve
outcome for patients with chondrosarcoma tumors. A first step toward reaching this initial goal is to
test whether iron deprivation controls tumor cell growth in vitro and in a rat model.
Hypothesis: Our experimental model will utilize chondrosarcoma cell lines that will be studied in
tissue culture and in rats. We hypothesize that chondrosarcoma cancer cell lines depleted of serum iron
will exhibit decreased growth and

Why Did I Get Married Released in 2007 by Lions Gate Entertainment Corporation, the film Why Did
I Get Married? is a comedy and drama that was written, produced, and directed by screen and
playwright, Tyler Perry. Depicting the trials and tribulations of marriage, Why Did I Get Married? Was
a hit at the box office earning $55,862,886 worldwide (Perry, 2007). Along with several other films

The recurring theme that is raised in Tyler Perry s film Why Did I Get Married? Is Can These
Marriages Survive? The infidelity of two husbands leads to the discussion of the 80/20 Rule. The rule
simply implies that within a marriage, most people only receive eighty percent of what they want and
need from their partners, leading them to go outside of their relationship in an effort to find what they
think they are missing. Usually, it s not until the spouse has stepped out the relationship that they
realize that now only twenty percent of their needs are being met. At this point, they have left their
eighty for their twenty, which is a significant downgrade. Watching a Tyler Perry movie is a strange
and ecstatic experience, Perry s desire for shenanigans, inanity and heightened emotions always makes
for an entertaining evening, but his films are in a strange in between space: between melodrama and
traditional drama, between alternative cinema and Hollywood style, and between black authenticity
and pure elitism. Through it all, what vexes film scholars especially critics, is how style, content,
auteurism and culture clash and miss each other in Tyler Perry s films. Still Perry is one of a handful
of black filmmakers including Antoine Fuqua, John Singleton, Spike Lee, and Lee Daniels, whom can
all actually raise money for wide release films. Perry films are primarily ways to talk about

* Leapfrog strategy This strategy involves bypassing the enemy s forces altogether. In the business
arena, this involves either developing new technologies, or creating new business models. This is a
revolutionary strategy that re writes the rules of the game. The introduction of compact disc
technology bypassed the established magnetic tape based defenders. The attackers won the war
without a single costly battle. This strategy is very effective when it can be realized.
Defensive marketing warfare strategies They are a type of marketing warfare strategy designed to
protect a company s market share, profitability, product positioning, or mind share. Fundamental
principles: 1. Always counter an attack with equal or greater force. 2. Defend every important market.
3. Be forever vigilant in scanning for potential attackers. Assess the strength of the competitor. 4. The
best defense is to attack yourself. Attack your weak spots and rebuild yourself anew. 5. Defensive
strategies should be the exclusive domain of the market leader
The main types of defensive marketing warfare strategies are: * Position defense This involves the
defense of a fortified position. This tends to be a weak defense because you become a sitting duck . It
can lead to a siege situation in which time is on the side of the attacker, that is, as time goes by the
defender gets weaker, while the attacker gets stronger. In a business context, this involves

The next Bayani Brew drink may yet be another native, healthy, and surely yummy concoction of the
nanays we fondly call our Titas. There is just so much natural goodness of our people and our land left

Hence, the name Bayani Brew does not just stand for our love of country or bayan, but also for
honouring these unsung heroines (our personal bayanis who not just concocted these delightful
drinks); and more sentimentally, for the bayanihan effort of local talent, farmers, and social
entrepreneurs to bring this once crazy idea to the market. Bayani Brew wants to be remembered not
only for its refreshing beverages, but as part of brewing a social innovation movement comprising a
new breed of Pinoys who are not just learning to love living a healthy and natural lifestyle, but more
importantly, who are bat sh*t crazy in love with our country.

The Undertaker is without a doubt the single most iconic figure in the history of professional

However, several years later, when Triple H was pushed to the main event, he began to win The
Deadman over. The pair had a series of stellar encounters and together they saw their contemporaries
drop off one by one. Eventually, The Undertaker and Triple H were left as the last of a dying breath
and were entrusted with maintaining order in the locker room.
The pair shared a genuine emotional moment after their match at WrestleMania XXVII, with both
men admitting they had their doubts if they could still go inside the ring and thanking the other for
bringing out the best in them.

Meet The Sixth Sense Interaction Summary
Meet the sixth sense interaction
Presented by researcher Pattie Maes of MIT
SUMMARY
Researcher Pattie Maes definitely presented information with exigence: she had possibly opened a
new area of deep research as President Kennedy did with NASA. Maes had introduced the possibility
of utilizing technology to artificially develop a sixth sense, a technology that would serve as a
personal assistant to humans, likewise the smartphone. Maes had introduced her product as the
sixthsense camera. Clients would simply wear the, as she suggested, unstylish camera, around the
neck and interact with its projection. This sixthsense camera is similar to the technology fictional
character Rory Starks uses in his laboratory in the movie Ironman. Clients would make gestures with

Will gaining a sixthsense further develop the gyri and sulci of the human brain? The answer to this is
likely both yes and no. Gaining a sixthsense will undoubtfully permit students an efficient and easy
access to information although may inhibit development of patience and hard work. Students may lose
social skills, continuing a millennial like trend, as the need to socialize and determine the identity of
others will no longer be necessary via a mouth and questioning, but rather via a holographic
projection. I am quite frankly fascinated by the idea of developing a sixthsense although do believe
this should be left alone and not diffuse globally. I am a firm believer of humanity and philosophy,
however, the sixthsense technology will not encourage nor force students to think either critically nor
liberally as all information will be readily available. I believe humans should learn become polyglots
in order to find, create and retain knowledge, not have a cloud spoon feed it to

The Charter of Rights and Freedoms is an essential piece of legislation providing fundamental rights

of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms states all individual have the right to be secure again

Colon cancer The large intestines are a part of the digestive system (Colorectal cancer, 2015). The
large intestines (large bowels) are made up of the colon and the rectum (What is colorectal cancer,

is colorectal cancer, 2016). After food goes through the small intestines, of the digestive system, the
colon absorbs the salt and water from the food that remains and the waste matter (feces) is the

Guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test
The guaiac based Fecal Occult Blood Test (gFOBT) is a screening test for colorectal cancer (A guide

the presence of heme in stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). Colorectal neoplasms can cause blood (heme)
in the stool because the blood vessels on the surface of colorectal cancer and/or colorectal polyps have
fragile blood vessels that are easily damaged when feces pass through the large bowel (A guide to
FOBT, n.d.). A small amount of blood from the fragile colorectal polyps and cancer vessels merge
with the stool (A guide to FOBT, n.d.). The small amount of blood that is combined with the stool
from the colorectal polyps and cancer vessels is not visibly noticeable in the stool (A guide to FOBT,

of blood that can be found in the stool if a person has colorectal polyps or cancer (A

And the stars shall look not down (line 11 12), Poe uses personification when he gives human nature
to elements of the earth such as the moon, and the star.
Although, Poe writes many short stories about death they deal with different ideas of death. He writes
many stories with good imagery that leaves pictures in the reader s head. Poe s stories are never the

5 x 36 = 180 Jeremy has 5 strips each is 36 in long so 5 x 36 = 180 The next thing we have to do is
find the perimeter of the small triangle that comes out to be 58 in. The rectangles are similar so..
perimeter of big rectangles equals scale factor times perimeter of small rectangle equals scale factor
times 58 it results with 4.5. the perimeter of the big rectangle is 261. so now all we do is use addition
for the perimeters which is what gave you the total length then use subtraction for 180 the answer
comes out to be 139 Based off the picture I can assume that it will expand by the factor of one over
four then it s probably going to become 25 percent larger. Instead of TU crossing the x axis at one it s
going to be at 1.25. As far as the relationship i m not 100% positive if it s going to expand to at least

The Need for an Embedded Processor
Chapter 1. INTRODUCTION 1.1. CURRENT SCENARIO
In current scenario, various sensors of plant is connected to the PLC for the data communication and
PLC is program such that it give controlling output according to the threshold value of sensors. In this
if the value of sensor is below or above the sensor value then it gives the respective output. This
output is nothing but the controlling output from the PLC which gives signal to controlling device like
value or alarm etc. Also SCADA provide the Graphical user interface to the PLC unit so that any
programmer can see the process graphically with the help of SCADA. In Plant SCADA and PLC are
connected to each other which make a whole system for Data communication and its controlling.
There are various types of PLC are available in the market. The selection of the PLC can be done as
per the requirement of number of input and output associated with the plant.

The industrial plant have many type of analog data like temperature sensor, level sensor, flow meter,
pressure sensors etc. So in plant this type of data should be analysed and then processed to achieve
some specific action regarding it. The data can be processed with the embedded processor. The
embedded processor must be programmed such that the data can process and give the require output.

application is considered. Only if we make responsible choices in replacing wired technology by its
wireless alternative, we will be able to continue to improve our life quality, in the near as well as
distant future. Wireless solutions offer productivity, convenience, and cost advantages over traditional
wired networks. Wireless solutions allow many benefits, including allo wing businesses to benefi t

The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Essay
The Popularity of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
I Think that A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens is still popular today because it has a good moral
story and people still enjoy a good old fashioned ghost story. This is because a lot of us are still
interested in the afterlife and if such things as ghosts even exist we are fascinated by them and a novel
with ghosts in, we cannot put it down. The moral story which seems even in modern day society to
stick with us and we are still very much obsessed with Christmas and the joy that goes with it. Also
people who read this book see there is a slight humorous side to the text which seems to make us more

A Christmas Carol has changed from the days that Charles Dickens wrote it by constantly updating
itself. There are numerous ways a book can update itself but A Christmas Carol has been made in to a
funny film A Muppets Christmas Carol which scrooge is played by Michael Caine which makes it
more interesting to the generation of the times. It also makes the plot more appealing to the younger
generation who will read books such as A Christmas Carol . The Muppets have done a fantastic job of
recreating the story and is told by two Muppets who follow scrooge around the story commentating to
the scenes that need playing. Also a major part that has changed is the language; this version has got
rid of confusing and mind baffling words in some of the newer versions of the classical story. An
example of this is Spectre and Humbug which is a way of saying someone has been annoying or
talking a load of nonsense. Now they use words that even the youngest of people will recognize. This
also makes the book more interesting because it does not seem as old or as outdated, which in most
cases is a good thing.
Dickens describes his characters in such a way that they leave a lasting effect on you and a visual
description or appearance in your mind.

Critical Review of Undaunted Courage Essay
Critical Review of Undaunted Courage
Stephen Ambrose s Undaunted Courage is a remarkable piece of nonfiction literature. His work is so
thorough that one wonders how he has time to do much more. Yet he has created time in his life to go
west and go camping and hiking and canoeing in the summers with his family. Which possibly shows
that anything can be raw material to the open mind, for it was on those trips that he developed a great
fascination with the Lewis and Clark expedition that explored the West when the country was twenty
five years old. Ambrose creates a precise and true story of the expedition in witch most readers would
be enthralled. His style is smooth, readable and enjoyable, unlike many historical nonfiction of the
day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From November 1803 to September 1806, it was nearly three years of rough, tough work over land
that no American had ever seen before. The men were poorly prepared from the start. They were
frequently ill fed and dressed. The soldiers worked for pay of about $5 per month and a land grant of
320 acres.
They were led well though. The author holds Meriwether Lewis in high esteem. Jefferson took
Meriwether under his wing and into his President s House to be his secretary. Their father son
relationship became a deep friendship, and Jefferson chose Lewis to head the expedition. Lewis chose
an associate, William Clark, to join him in command. Though Clark s official Army rank was
lieutenant, theirs was a true co captaincy. Most people s perception of early builders of America is
with a purity of reason and purpose, while, Ambrose shows that they are just as greedy then as they
are now. Also in the way of the book Ambrose wipes out the belief that Indians were innocent
harmless humans. They were filthy, dishonest, and belligerent, and awful to their women, not totally
unlike the mass of mankind.
In the end, not many of the goals were achieved. There was no all water route to the pacific. Nearly all
of Lewis and Clark s findings and accomplishments went unaccredited to them because of Lewis s
failure to print his journals, which Ambrose calls a treasure of American literature . And three years
after their return, Lewis committed suicide. Nonetheless, at its

Mary Louise Pratt Edward Said Essay
The key tools to maintaining your identity There are many tools that one can use to maintain their
identity, nationally and internationally. A nation or land is where people have established their life,
their culture and their heart; sadly it has happened where people have been forced out of their
homeland. Great opening sentences. Mary Louise Pratt, Kenji Yoshino and Edward Said all present
very good methods of maintaining one s national identity in their essays. In Mary Louise Pratt s essay
Arts of the Contact Zone she gives examples of people who are in a contact zone. Contact zones are
where people are meeting other cultures, and they have to remember not to lose their own. (this was a

If Pratt had a say in what was happening to the Palestine s in Edward Said s essay, I believe Pratt

houses as social and intellectual spaces where groups can constitute themselves as horizontal,
homogeneous, sovereign communities with high degrees of trust, shared understandings, temporary
protection from legacies of oppression . (Pratt) A safe house is somewhere you (avoid you)can go to
feel safe, where you will be surrounded by people just like yourself. Another one of Pratt s Arts of the

is the combining of two cultures or traits from two different cultures. This can help in maintaining
national identity by having the cultures meet half way, instead of conforming and letting your identity

the Mercedes. Even though Said describes it in negative terms, the use of the Mercedes has come in
handy for Palestinians. This is just a suggestion, you may find another example.

Larynx Essay
Speech production is essentially the structures along the vocal tract that work together to modify the
airstream and this can be greatly affected when someone has cancer of the Larynx. Laryngeal cancer,
also known as Laryngeal Carcinoma, develops as a result of malignant cells that form in the tissues of
the larynx and can be potentially life threatening. The larynx is a frequent site for cancer and accounts
for 3 5% of human cancers. The larynx is critical for speech so anything that affects the larynx will
disrupt the natural flow of vocal communication, especially something as extreme as Laryngeal
Cancer. A person who undergoes procedures and surgeries to rid these cancerous cells can often result
in a loss of speech. However, a person may have the opportunity to continue living as normally as
possible with the use of Esophageal Speech. Although a person has to adapt to this new method of
speaking, it allows them to still express themselves with their voice, even after surgery.
The Larynx is located at the trachea and at the base of the tongue, consisting of three main parts
known as Supraglottis, Glottis and Subglottis which all work together to create a properly working
Larynx. It separates humans from other mammals because it is responsible for voice resonance and
spoken language. The larynx is essential for many other bodily functions including swallowing,
phonation and respiration. However, the larynx can be broken down into two primary functions

The Theory Of Goal Attainment
In 1981 Imogene King introduced her mid range Theory of Goal Attainment (this theory has also been
referred to as the theory of goal achievement (Johnson and Webber, 2010)). This theory is based on the
grand theory called the Conceptual System, also created by King (Frey et al: 2002). To understand the
more focused mid range theory it is important to first quickly understand the conceptual system.
The conceptual system was created using systems analysis and systems theory literature (Johnson and
Webber, 2010). It was originally referred to as a conceptual framework, but King changed the
terminology in 1997 to Conceptual System (Frey et al, 2002). The conceptual system focused on
decision making in nursing. It is organized around three systems; Personal Systems which pertain to
the individual, Interpersonal Systems which pertain to small groups, and Social Systems which pertain
to the society as a whole. King saw these three interacting systems as part of the larger decision
making process of human beings (Frey et al, 2002).
The Theory of Goal Attainment is a middle range theory derived from King s Conceptual System. The
Theory of Goal Attainment focuses on the interactions between the personal, interpersonal, and social
systems. Frey et al (2002) describes the central concepts of the theory as perception, communication,
interaction, transaction, self, role, growth and development, stressors/stress, time, and space. Four
specific concepts within the theory; perception,

Analysis of Three Books About Gorbachev
The history of the Soviet Union is complicated and fascinating. In the course of only seventy years
this country has seen the development of the totally new system of state, economic growth, the growth
of hopes for the brighter future , and then the sudden and expected by no one collapse of the whole
system leading to chaos, wars, and confusion. One period is especially important in order to realize
how did things finally started to change after the seventy years of blindly pursuing the dream of
communism which left the Soviet Union in a very bad economical and moral state, and this period is

This influence lasted for years and the fact that Gorbachev has become
westernized in his appearance, manners, dress and the image he projects of tolerance and cordial
behavior, all the small signs which mark him as different from the usual Komsomol and Party boss , is
according to Medvedev due to a great extent to the fact that Mlynar was Gorbachev s roommate
(Medvedev, 1986, p. 43).
Although the first part of the book is certainly interesting and important I would like to concentrate on
the second part of the book since it is directly deals with the subject that interests me most, that is the
years when Gorbachev was in power and the development of the new course in the Soviet life called
perestroika. From just reading the first paragraph it is obvious that the author approves of the new
leader. Medvedev writes: For the first time in
Soviet history, the leadership succession has meant more than the arrival of a new leader and the
possibility of the implementation of the new policies. The
Gorbachev succession marks the appearance of a new political generation which differs from the old
guard in style, knowledge and historical vision....Gorbachev represents a younger post war political
generation, a generation which started its professional Party or state career during the more liberal
Krushchev era (p. 165). Medvedev quotes some of the very enthusiastic
Western newspaper comments which called Gorbachev a bright, incisive,

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a
strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further
fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a
destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans
hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F.
Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson
proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people.
Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the
cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and
broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put
tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the
legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the
glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding
(1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal
day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A politician that Johnson looked up to was

Union University Art Gallery Analysis

by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time
(his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of
the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to
say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were
all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism.
Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of
being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in
unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally
feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene

Setting In Through The Tunnel, By Doris Lessing
The settings are important in a story because they tell where and when the story takes place. A reader
should always focus on the setting, so he will not get lost in the story. In Doris Lessing s Through the
Tunnel, the story focuses on a boy named Jerry trying to accomplish something very difficult while his
mother wants him to stay safe. He sees some boys swimming through a challenging tunnel and he tries
to go through the tunnel to impress them in order to become friends with them. The setting in Through
the Tunnel has an impact on the characters, the plot, and the symbols.
One way the setting has an impact includes the characters. The safe beach is an example of how the
setting can impact the character. According to the story, The boy . . . turned his eyes, which had a
frown behind them, toward the bay and back again to his mother (1). Jerry s mother wants him to stay
at the beach. She feels like the setting of the bay is dangerous, but Jerry feels the pull to explore the
more dangerous bay. Secondly, the setting of the water gives Jerry a hard time. Jerry is trying to hold
his breath under water so that it will not be hard to breathe while he is swimming (3). He is trying to
learn how to control his breathing so he can swim better. He tried to put stones on his arms so he could
stay under the water to help him. Also, another example is the tunnel. According to the author, Jerry

The Inequality Of Rural Women
There s women in these countries that don t even know when their next meal is, or when they will be
able to drink a glass of water. It s tragic to mention that juvenilization of poverty coincides with
feminization of poverty because mothers are always expected to nurture and raise the kids, as it is
explained in the theory of functionalism. A 1992 UN report discovered the number of rural women
living in poverty in the developing countries has increased by almost 50% over the past 20 years to an
awesome 565 million. (IPeterson)This quote exemplifies the deterioration of rural women s identity
that is imposed due to impact of colonial powers. However, it s ironic how these countries are
developing but still undergo a mass incline in the poverty rate amongst women, leads to question what
their development plans to digress. With the establishment of agreements of international free trade
policies, corporations used this motive as a way to generate profit from cheap labor in underdeveloped
countries. Colonization of small rural counties is solely sought out to benefit the wealthy of the
population and exploits the majority of the poor natives. Some condescending examples include the
deterioration of indigenous culture and identity, physical harm to the rebellious natives, and
exploitation of the resources that continue to destroy the lives of women. After Spanish colonial
powers withdrew from Peru during independence in the early 19th century, rapid shifts swept across

terms of stratification, productivity, succession, nutrient composition, transparency, and management.
The field site was 85 acre, man made lake within Miami Whitewater Forest in Great Parks of

Villas originated in Italy. They used to be the country houses of the city dwellers who wanted to

numbers just outside the vicinity of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Narrator In Julius Long s The Pale Man
Within the course of life, it is normal for everyone to feel unappreciated and unhappy at times. How
long these feelings last and how extreme they are, all depends on the person. In Julius Long s The Pale
Man, these feelings develop within the narrator for so long and strenuously that they eventually evolve
into a serious nervous problem. The narrator in The Pale Man transparently portrays his emotions
regarding his career as a professor s assistant by being bitter and broken. These emotions were evident
considering that the President of his university was the one who recommended the vacation. Although
the vacation was predicted to help the narrator, the opposite occurs. During the narrator s vacation, the
presence of an extremely pale ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Normally, most people are able to find their way back. However, not in all cases. In the story, The Pale
Man, the narrator s inability to distinguish an identity helps to generate a multiple personality disorder.
In this story, the narrator is not completely aware of what is actually going on in the hotel. Until the
very end of the story, the narrator believes that the pale man is a very real man who simply has
peculiar acts. However, at the end of the story the narrator states, I suppose I should have guessed his
identity when he skipped the three rooms the night I fell unconscious upon the floor. In a single night
of triumph he advanced until he was almost to my door (4). This statement proves that up until this
point, he was suffering from identity loss. Then finally, the narrator realizes who the pale man is and
recognizes that his second personality wants to overcome his original personality. This realization
causes the narrator to willingly invite his second personality in, because he states, He will be coming
by and by to inhabit this room, his ultimate goal. When he comes, I shall at least be able to return his
smile of grim recognition. Meanwhile, I have only to wait beyond my bolted door This statement
proves that the narrator is waiting for his second personality to overcome his current one and he is
ready. According to Peggy A. Thoits, Low self esteem, feelings of worthlessness, and/or unstable self
image are central criteria in the identification of major depression, bipolar disorder, dysthymia
(chronic depressed mood), and borderline and avoidant personality disorders, for example (Self
Identity, Stress, and Mental Health). Considering that an unstable self image can actually cause
borderline personality disorders, it is not surprising that the narrator would obtain

Peter Singer Manifestos
A manifesto is a declaration of beliefs, values, principles, or intent. It is to express one s ideas in
simpler words. Peter Singer s essay is a manifesto for an Animal Liberation movement. Throughout
the whole essay he describes the multiple ways how humans exploit animals. Singer believes animals
do feel pain although they do not have a form of communication using syntax. Singer uses persuasion
when the element of the language barrier between humans and animals roll in. Humans are different
and suffer pain because they have a language governed by using syntax. On the other hand, the other
writers believe animals do not feel pain because they do not have a language using syntax. Although,

The World Of Convection, Conduction, And Radiation The World of Convection, Conduction, and Radiation In our physical world, there are a multitude of phenomenon that occur daily that we experience that often go unnoticed. It contains a vast array of conceptual applications and the equations applied to them in order to better explain and calculate the phenomenon involved. In a normal occurrence an individual can explain and calculate certain aspects of movement and processes that are also involved with it. When dealing with the transferring of heat and various process related to heat, the terms convection, conduction and radiation are frequently discussed thoroughly. The overall field of thermodynamics involves the study of thermal processes in physical systems. Some terms involved with these particular concepts include: closed system, empirical law, free energy, joule s law, specific, temperature, and thermodynamics. The general defined term of convection is the heat transfer by mass motion of a fluid such as air or water when the heated fluid is caused to move away from the source of heat, carrying energy with it (Georgia State University). In the world of physics, the term conduction is usually defined as a form of heat transfer by the way of molecular tension inside an object or material that does not show any individual motion in its entirety (Georgia State University). Most counselors use a specific theory when working with their diverse clients. Understanding and applying the appropriate therapy for each unique client in the counseling session is imperative. Common theories include, person centered therapy, solution focused therapy, Adlerian therapy, and cognitive behavior therapy. These theories can be applied when counseling, however they do have their limitations. Specifically, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) contains methods that can be used with all age groups because of its broad techniques such as, exception questions, the miracle question, and scaling questions. This theory can be especially helpful when working with college students. Solution focused brief therapy (SFBT) has been in development since the early 1980 s, and has been described as a postmodern solution talk approach. Steve De Shazar and Insoo Kim Berg developed SFBT at the Brief Family Therapy Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After marriage, they continued to modify their research and brief therapy is used successfully today in psychotherapy and coaching (Corey, 2017). • 4. A Long Way Gone By Ishmael Beah Analysis Politics Are Not The Bomb When mad, one may act vengefully without thinking. Others take time to mull things over and think of plans of revenge. In either case, retaliation or vengeance is never positive or fruitful. These negative effects can clearly be seen in Ishmael Beah s A Long Way Gone through Beah s experiences as a child soldier, as well as Al Qaeda s attacks on the Atocha train station in Madrid, Spain. Beah s representation of the effects and dangers of vengeance helps delineate the terrorists reasons behind their attacks in Spain because both Beah and the terrorists sought retribution for what had been done to them. Qaeda went through the same thought process when Spanish troops invaded Iraq and one of their cells was dismantled. They thought they would get their point across by killing 191 people. Just as Ishmael Beah does, the terrorists resorted to violence and avengement as a means of getting what they wanted. Al Qaeda s main goal, to get Spanish troops out of Iraq, succeeded in the end. By bombarding a train station full of people they succeeded in changing the public s opinion and, therefore, forced the citizens of Spain to vote for a leader that would pull out all troops from ... • 5. The War Of The Vietnam War Between 1964 and 1975 the heightened tensions over the Vietnam war caused many americans to become divided on the actions taken by the government across seas. Americans questioned whether the government could be trusted. The feeling of betrayal and government secrecy created the Credibility Gap, in which many americans believed that the government no longer was for the people, but for anything else that would benefit the government. The Vietnam War exacerbated the gap between the pro war traditionalists and anti war liberals along with an increase in military action, causing controversy over government spending; as a whole these factors established a sense of distrust between the American government and its people. The Credibility Gap expanded during the Vietnam War causing citizens to question the truthfulness of president Johnson s administration and the reports on events that were occurring overseas in Vietnam. When Daniel Ellsberg released the Pentagon Papers to the media in 1971 he increased the public s distrust in the American government. The pentagon papers, originally named Report of the Office of the Secretary of Defense Vietnam Task Force by Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara, contained secret government reports detailing the decisions made in the Vietnam War under the Kennedy and Johnson administration. The Theory Of Corporate Social Responsibility Historical background of the development of CSR is almost as important as the ongoing discussion on what CSR is and how and where it should operate. Many scholars argue that these are not interchangeable and need to be assessed in conjunction with each other. For purposes of this paper it is pivotal to look into the past to see what stood behind the broadening of companies accountability beyond the standard agency theory (limited liability of shareholders for the company s violations or breach and the company s main accountability being towards its shareholders and investors only) to the stakeholder theory (company s accountability towards a broad range of stakeholders, including employees, environment and local communities). This at the time was widely opposed by proponents of corporate isolation as a highly irrelevant research topic that went in no parallel or connection with the idea of a corporate veil, charter accountability and the sole purpose of any company to bring profits to its shareholders. It soon found its implementation in Freeman s management discipline , who promoted the expansion of firms accountability towards a broader range of stakeholders. One of the examples of how attitude towards CSR by multinational corporations has changed was raised by Lee, when he reviewed corporate governance codes and practices of Ford . He used two instances in the history of corporate actions of Ford with an interval of 80 years in between them. Keeping in mind the abovementioned Clark s remarks on corporate accountability back in 1916, this becomes even more educational, as it shows a dramatic change in shareholders perception of their business as a service to the broader society. There, in 1919 Ford was faced with a lawsuit, as a result of which it agreed to grant Dodge brothers their request to receive maximum dividends . • 8. A Brief Note On The American Association Of Orthopedic... FIC AIMS Background and problem to be addressed: According to the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeon s (AAOS), chondrosarcomas are the second leading cause of bone cancers, as well as the most difficult to treat (1). Currently, the only effective treatment includes chemotherapy and wide surgical resection of the bone and cartilaginous tissue surrounding the tumor, which is incredibly invasive and painful for the patient (2). Depending on the location of the tumor, however, surgical resection might not always be possible. Also, if the margin is not wide, the tumor can recur. Alternatives to resection include debulking and intralesional surgery, but these are associated with a recurrence rate of up to 93% (3,4). Therefore, developing a less invasive alternative treatment would be a significant advancement in quality of life for patients with chondrosarcomas. Long term goal: The long term goal of this research program is to find effective treatment for chondrosarcomas. Here, we propose to test whether iron depletion therapy can be used to improve outcome for patients with chondrosarcoma tumors. A first step toward reaching this initial goal is to test whether iron deprivation controls tumor cell growth in vitro and in a rat model. Hypothesis: Our experimental model will utilize chondrosarcoma cell lines that will be studied in tissue culture and in rats. We hypothesize that chondrosarcoma cancer cell lines depleted of serum iron will exhibit decreased growth and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The recurring theme that is raised in Tyler Perry s film Why Did I Get Married? Is Can These Marriages Survive? The infidelity of two husbands leads to the discussion of the 80/20 Rule. The rule simply implies that within a marriage, most people only receive eighty percent of what they want and need from their partners, leading them to go outside of their relationship in an effort to find what they think they are missing. Usually, it s not until the spouse has stepped out the relationship that they realize that now only twenty percent of their needs are being met. At this point, they have left their eighty for their twenty, which is a significant downgrade. Watching a Tyler Perry movie is a strange and ecstatic experience, Perry s desire for shenanigans, inanity and heightened emotions always makes for an entertaining evening, but his films are in a strange in between space: between melodrama and traditional drama, between alternative cinema and Hollywood style, and between black authenticity and pure elitism. Through it all, what vexes film scholars especially critics, is how style, content, auteurism and culture clash and miss each other in Tyler Perry s films. Larynx Essay Speech production is essentially the structures along the vocal tract that work together to modify the airstream and this can be greatly affected when someone has cancer of the Larynx. Laryngeal cancer, also known as Laryngeal Carcinoma, develops as a result of malignant cells that form in the tissues of the larynx and can be potentially life threatening. The larynx is a frequent site for cancer and accounts for 3 5% of human cancers. The larynx is critical for speech so anything that affects the larynx will disrupt the natural flow of vocal communication, especially something as extreme as Laryngeal Cancer. A person who undergoes procedures and surgeries to rid these cancerous cells can often result in a loss of speech. The Theory Of Goal Attainment In 1981 Imogene King introduced her mid range Theory of Goal Attainment (this theory has also been referred to as the theory of goal achievement (Johnson and Webber, 2010)). This theory is based on the grand theory called the Conceptual System, also created by King (Frey et al: 2002). To understand the more focused mid range theory it is important to first quickly understand the conceptual system. The conceptual system was created using systems analysis and systems theory literature (Johnson and Webber, 2010). It was originally referred to as a conceptual framework, but King changed the terminology in 1997 to Conceptual System (Frey et al, 2002). The conceptual system focused on decision making in nursing. It is organized around three systems; Personal Systems which pertain to the individual, Interpersonal Systems which pertain to small groups, and Social Systems which pertain to the society as a whole. King saw these three interacting systems as part of the larger decision making process of human beings (Frey et al, 2002). The Theory of Goal Attainment is a middle range theory derived from King s Conceptual System. The Theory of Goal Attainment focuses on the interactions between the personal, interpersonal, and social systems. Medvedev writes: For the first time in Soviet history, the leadership succession has meant more than the arrival of a new leader and the possibility of the implementation of the new policies. The Gorbachev succession marks the appearance of a new political generation which differs from the old guard in style, knowledge and historical vision....Gorbachev represents a younger post war political generation, a generation which started its professional Party or state career during the more liberal Krushchev era (p. 165). Medvedev quotes some of the very enthusiastic Western newspaper comments which called Gorbachev a bright, incisive, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Moore Global Theater. It s starts at 8:00 and ends at 10:00pm and I went on April 28th, a Friday night. The artistic directors are Amelie Hunter and Shana Menaker and I believe to be one hundred people or more in the theater. So it s a full house fill with students and adults alike. What I enjoy during the concert was the dancers performing without being distracted or scare by the audience. Granted it s to be expected and the dancers are not strangers to this, but nice to see performers not buckle down to the pressure of fear because of the audience. At the same time, I understand that they do, but what I have seen they didn t show it. What I don t like was not the quality the dances, but the different types of dances shown. Most dancers I saw only modern or contemporary pieces and the only thing different was the hip hop pieces. I didn t seem to find classical ballet, tap, jazz or anything to diversify the concert. While I didn t find the concert a chore to watch and was engaging, but I find myself looking at the hip hop dances more than I would for modern or contemporary mostly due to something different to watch. ... The dance schism is like a nurse helping a patient at a psych ward to me. • 33. Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. The ring tones firms, which enables people to listen to popular music is at the moment a five dollar billion market every year, an enlightening case of an ancillary industry resulting from the use of a mobile phone. Minor firms now market cell phone games as well as video content aimed specifically to be watched on cell phones. Additionally, other creative functions have arisen, such as text messaging, short messages service (SMS) , as well as fake talking (people pretend to converse using cell phones to fight fear and loneliness). Despite the presence of moderately small screen sizes, majority of the people in America have started watching TV on their cell phones, this is to distance themselves from the wrong or jam packed situations and also prioritize their attention. • 36. Union University Art Gallery Analysis Union University Art Gallery plays host to several different artists galleries throughout the year, for free and open to the public. Currently on display is Hodgepodge , a collection of about ten canvases by Brian Bundren. While Bundren has been painting and displaying his artwork for quite some time (his first gallery was in the mid 1990s!), Hodgepodge contains paintings only from 2013 2016. All of the artwork shows great precision and attention to detail. The colors are vibrant and rich. That is not to say the colors were bright or cheerful (only one painting was particularly bright ), but the colors were all pure and distinct. Most of the paintings, in my opinion, would fit under the umbrella of surrealism. Walking into the gallery immediately starts to produce feelings of unease and perhaps feelings of being threatened. The individual objects in the paintings are very realistic but mashed together in unnatural ways. Only one painting, J.V. s Thunderbird , felt calm ; it did not cause me to personally feel discomfort, even though it was not peaceful. It was a large canvas displaying an underwater scene in bright blue. A Thunderbird was half visible along the bottom edge of the canvas. A deep sea diver was present, ... Pink peonies (there are two in full bloom and one bud) commonly represents love and honor, while white peonies (there is one at the bottom) represents shyness or bashfulness. • 37. Setting In Through The Tunnel, By Doris Lessing The settings are important in a story because they tell where and when the story takes place. A reader should always focus on the setting, so he will not get lost in the story. In Doris Lessing s Through the Tunnel, the story focuses on a boy named Jerry trying to accomplish something very difficult while his mother wants him to stay safe. He sees some boys swimming through a challenging tunnel and he tries to go through the tunnel to impress them in order to become friends with them. The setting in Through the Tunnel has an impact on the characters, the plot, and the symbols. One way the setting has an impact includes the characters. The safe beach is an example of how the setting can impact the character. According to the story, The boy . . . turned his eyes, which had a frown behind them, toward the bay and back again to his mother (1). Jerry s mother wants him to stay at the beach. She feels like the setting of the bay is dangerous, but Jerry feels the pull to explore the more dangerous bay. Secondly, the setting of the water gives Jerry a hard time. Jerry is trying to hold his breath under water so that it will not be hard to breathe while he is swimming (3). He is trying to learn how to control his breathing so he can swim better. He tried to put stones on his arms so he could stay under the water to help him. Also, another example is the tunnel. According to the author, Jerry ...tried to push himself in. • 38. The Inequality Of Rural Women There s women in these countries that don t even know when their next meal is, or when they will be able to drink a glass of water. It s tragic to mention that juvenilization of poverty coincides with feminization of poverty because mothers are always expected to nurture and raise the kids, as it is explained in the theory of functionalism. A 1992 UN report discovered the number of rural women living in poverty in the developing countries has increased by almost 50% over the past 20 years to an awesome 565 million. (IPeterson)This quote exemplifies the deterioration of rural women s identity that is imposed due to impact of colonial powers. However, it s ironic how these countries are developing but still undergo a mass incline in the poverty rate amongst women, leads to question what their development plans to digress. With the establishment of agreements of international free trade policies, corporations used this motive as a way to generate profit from cheap labor in underdeveloped countries. Colonization of small rural counties is solely sought out to benefit the wealthy of the population and exploits the majority of the poor natives. Some condescending examples include the deterioration of indigenous culture and identity, physical harm to the rebellious natives, and exploitation of the resources that continue to destroy the lives of women. How long these feelings last and how extreme they are, all depends on the person. The narrator in The Pale Man transparently portrays his emotions regarding his career as a professor s assistant by being bitter and broken. In the story, The Pale Man, the narrator s inability to distinguish an identity helps to generate a multiple personality disorder. In this story, the narrator is not completely aware of what is actually going on in the hotel. Until the very end of the story, the narrator believes that the pale man is a very real man who simply has peculiar acts. However, at the end of the story the narrator states, I suppose I should have guessed his identity when he skipped the three rooms the night I fell unconscious upon the floor. In a single night of triumph he advanced until he was almost to my door (4). This statement proves that up until this point, he was suffering from identity loss. Then finally, the narrator realizes who the pale man is and recognizes that his second personality wants to overcome his original personality. This realization causes the narrator to willingly invite his second personality in, because he states, He will be coming by and by to inhabit this room, his ultimate goal. When he comes, I shall at least be able to return his smile of grim recognition. Meanwhile, I have only to wait beyond my bolted door This statement proves that the narrator is waiting for his second personality to overcome his current one and he is ready. According to Peggy A.
