Plaster casts are shells made of plaster or fiberglass that encase broken or injured body parts like bones or joints. They stabilize the area and hold it immobile to allow healing. Plaster casts are versatile, reasonably comfortable, and absorb secretions. They provide support for fractures, injuries, postoperative recovery, and deformity correction. However, plaster casts require more care than other types of casts as they cannot get wet and are heavier.
