INTRODUCTION
B. Sc./ SEM 5/2022-23/ /Paper name/ Paper Code/Presentation_1
❑Pathogenesis is the
process of infection or
the disease develops
in plant body.
❑Infection is the
establishment of
a pathogenic
microorganism
within the host,
following
entrance.

3 PHAGES OF PENETRATION
3
• PRE- PENETRATION
✓The growth of the pathogen
before actual entry or penetration
into the host.
✓Spores of various pathogenic
fungi germinate on the surface of
the host.
• PENETRATION
➢Plant pathogens penetrate the
plant surfaces by direct
penetration of the cell walls,,
natural opening or through
wounds.
• POST-
PENETRATION
❖Phase include the
development and growth of
the pathogen after
penetration.
❖In this phage, colonization of
the pathogen takes place.

INFECTION PHENOMENON OF PLANT
• This occur when pathogen invades the plant tissue and
establishes a parasitic relationship between itself and
the plant.
• Viruses, bacteria and phytoplasmas are not able to
actively penetrate or enter plant host tissue.
• Therefore, they must rely on other methods to infect
plant tissue and cells.
• Association with insect vectors have been established by
these pathogens to aid inoculation and dispersal.
SUMMARY
5
❑In this content we will be learning about Penetration and
Phenomenon of Plant Pathology.
❑We studied the definition of pathogenesis and infection.
❑ We studied about three phases of penetration of pathogenesis
in plants.
❑We studied 3 phages of penetration in details.
❑We studied about infectious phenomenon of plant pathology.
