Essay about African American Male Feminist
The theory of an African American male feminist is a relatively new concept that is rapidly
growing. Alexander Crummell, who was an advocate of black feminism stated, For, humble and
benighted as she is, the black woman of the South is one of the queens of womanhood. If there is
any other woman on this earth who in native aboriginal qualities is her superior, I know not
where she is to be found. Before I discuss the importance, relevance and substance of what it is to
be not only a successful male feminist but a universally accepted male feminist, I will first lay the
foundation of what a feminist is from the ground up. In this paper I will construct an analysis of
African Americanmale feminist thought using pieces of literature such... Show more content on

But women had not gained freedom even though they d taken equally tremendous risk through
those dangerous years. Although they were not the first group of women to have those
thoughts, they were the first however to plan and carry out a plan on a large scale program.
These women gathered within two days of their conversation and placed an announcement at the
Seneca County Courier to call a convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition
and rights of woman. These women were looking to change the world (Legacy 98) In 1861 a
man named John Stuart Mill wrote The Subjection of Women which was said to have fueled the
ideology of the Women s Rights Movement. Mill discussed the role of women in society during
that time, pointing out how the patriarchy placed such an intense limit on what women could do.
Patriarchy is a system in which the male race governs societal views or social organization
marked by the supremacy of the father in the clan or family, the legal dependence of wives and
children, and the reckoning of descent and inheritance in the male line; broadly: control by men of
a disproportionately large share of power (Merriam Webster). His work raised the consciousness of
many women.
With the Caucasian women leading the way into the Women s Rights Movement, African American
women were not far behind them. On March 13, 1913 the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority
Inc. participated in the Women s Suffrage

Essay on Parkinson’s Disease
Parkinson s Disease
Parkinson s disease is a disease with a wide variety of disabilities recognizable as changes in
appearance, posture, walking, and balance. In 1817, the English physician James Parkinson
described these symptoms in his patients and has had his name become synonymous with the
disease. In 1893 the substantia nigra of the basal ganglia was identified as an area of disease for
Parkinson s. Examination with the naked eye reveals a lack of black pigment in this portion of the
brainstem. Subsequent follow up with the microscope showed a deterioration of the nerve cells in
this area. The circuitous relationship between the substantia nigra and the basal ganglia explains
many of the symptoms of Parkinson s disease. Today the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Consequently, both the basal ganglia and the cerebellum are influenced by and return influence to
the descending motor pathways (pyramidal and extrapyramidal), which affect the activity of the
lower motoneurons.
The substantia nigra is a subcortical nucleus that is closely related to basal ganglia. It is reciprocally
connected with the striatum and sends efferents to the ventral anterior and dorsomedial thalamic
nuclei and, to some extent, to the ventral lateral thalamic nuclei. The substantia nigra pars reticulata
also projects to the superior colliculus. Neurons that originate in the striatum and project to the
substantia nigra are inhibitory and utilize the neurotransmitters GABA and substance P. Fibers that
arise in the pars compacta of the substantia nigra use the neurotransmitter dopamine and synapse in
the striatum, while GABAminergic cells in the pars reticulata receive striatal input and project to
the thalamus.
Recordings from neurons in the basal ganglia of monkeys during various motor tasks reveal that the
discharge of single cells in the neostriatum show a direct correlation with movements of the
contralateral arm or leg, and that the discharge of substantial percentage of neurons precedes the
onset of a movement. These studies suggest that the basal ganglia participate in movements at a
high level, including the planning of movement synergy s. Lesions of the basal ganglia resulting

Challenges within the 56th HBCT Essay
The purpose of this memorandum is to discuss leadership and development issues and
challenges within the 56th HBCT. I have identified 8 issues and challenges that currently plague
the unit and are having an adverse effect on it and our soldiers. Additionally, discussion will
focus on the top three of these issues as well as the importance of resolving the most important
one of them with the greatest of speed.
While the unit was successful in accomplishing all of their missions in Iraq, the CALL s
extensive study identified several issues that I believe will have an impact on our future
effectiveness. The command and control at battalion and below levels was, at times, greatly
affected by incompatible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Division required the DCO to be tasked out to
supervise MITTs that were in our battle space, made him the LNO to coalition forces and he was
also required to act as the BCT chief of staff. These various assignments throughout our AO
caused confusion amongst staff and soldiers on what the DCO s role actually was and what he
was responsible for. Allowing the DCO to function as deputy commander is vital to ensuring
that our unit command structure remains in place.
I was recently contacted by the brigade provost marshal and informed about an undocumented
report of a brigade sniper shooting and killing and Iraqi civilian. I was further informed that the
soldier who reported it to provost marshal had previously informed it to the Brigade S 2 but it
was not clear if any investigation had been done on this matter. The reporting soldier has also
threatened to take the story to the media if nothing is done. While this matter is currently being
investigated, I believe that the root cause of this problem was the lack of properly trained snipers
at the platoon level. While the MTOE authorized one per platoon, the operating environment
required more. This resulted in undertrained snipers being deployed. An increase in the number
of school trained and authorized snipers could have resolved this problem.
Another organizational challenge that currently faces the 56th HBCT

Role Of Internal Audit On The Organization Outside The...
MEMO

Subject:Role of Internal Audit
It has come to my attention that the role of internal audit is not clear to some members of the
organization outside the finance department. Therefore, it was decided that a memo is written to
explain clearly the role of internal audit.
Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting function intended to add
value and improve an organization s operations. The audit function can help an organization to
achieve objectives by evaluating an organizations risk management, control and governance
processes to help improve them.
Internal auditors (IA) assess how well risks are being managed in an organization, how the
organization is being governed and how well internal control systems and processes are working.
They report their findings to senior management, highlighting and advising management where
improvements in systems controls and processes are necessary.
By evaluating an organization s risk management and assisting management in improvement of
internal controls, IA s help management to clearly show stakeholders that they are managing the
organization well.
Different from external auditors, IA s work within an organization and their work can vary
depending on the business requirements. They do not only look at financial risks and statements
but at a range of issues that are key to a company s survival

Global And Being Known As A Successful International...
Going global and being known as a successful international corporate is an impressive achievement
that almost all companies aim to attain. To successfully convert a business from domestic to
international, a firm will need to consider a new set of factors that might not necessarily affect a
local only company. Companies use a number of tactics to achieve their global expansion plans,
including exporting goods, forming strategic partnerships, licensing, acquiring businesses and
building new facilities in multiple countries. Often, a company may need to try out few strategies in
order to find the perfect fit. Many global expansion failures results from companies temptation
/decision to apply their domestic management approach to global operations. Grolsch, like other
companies, encountered many impasses during their international expansions. Nonetheless, much
can be learned from Grolsch, successes and failures.
Grolsch s global strategy is based on the MABA process that is described in the case. What is
your opinion of the MABA process?
While there are great potentials in exploring new opportunities overseas, there can also be
considerable risks associated in doing business in an unfamiliar environment. Companies need a
comprehensive approach to assess the benefits and potential pitfalls in going global. Grolsch does
so through its MABA (Market Attractiveness, Business Assessment) framework. The MABA, as
described in the case, is used by Grolsch s employees to judge the

Grief In Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is a book written by Jonathan Safran Foer, who centers his
story around multiple losses and grief between different characters in the story. The two
characters that are the main focus of grief in the story was a little boy named Oskar Schell and
his grandfather, Thomas Schell. Oskar had lost his father during the 9/11 attacks and as a little
boy he was having a hard time coping with his father s death. Even after two years, he is still
very depressed, inflicting harm on himself and becoming furious with his mother and others
around him. What Oskar does to get over that grief and loss is make inventions or write letters.
He mentions that most of the things he does reminds him of his father and he starts to get Heavy

He was grieving the loss of his wife s sister, Anna, who he previously had been in a relationship
with and still loves. He would always talk about her and write about her in his letters and journal.
Thomas was not only grieving the loss of Anna but also the loss of both his children. Anna
supposedly was pregnant with Thomas s child, and after the bombing in Dresden, he assumes that
Anna died with the baby. When Thomas realizes this devastation , he grieves heavily and falls in
his mourning, which leads him to move to the U.S and make a new life for himself. Later in the
story he meets Oskar s grandmother, and they get married and Oskar s grandmother is pregnant.
Thomas mentions that Oskar s grandmother reminds him of Anna very much and that he married
the grandmother out of grief and guilt or probably in hopes of receiving a second chance at life.

Criminal Behavior And Social Control
Our society is at the will of two fundamental forces: deviant behavior and social control.
Behaviors that are not deemed as socially acceptable, or that do not fall in line with what society
calls normal , are deviant. Social control aims to influence people s behaviors and is a means of
moderating, as well as preventing deviance. The two forms of social control are informal and
formal social control. The former consists of self control and relational controls (Owen, Fradella,
Burke, Joplin, 2012, p. 103) while the latter uses governmental resources to deter deviance in its
citizens. In my opinion, informal social control is a better deterrent of criminal behavior since
your own will and how you are raised can be the greatest forces driving a person to live a good
life or choose to start one. Informal social control comes down to two forms of interactions the
ones that you form with yourself that develop your conscience and those that you experience with
others. The first, internal, can not necessarily exist without the second, external, because we learn
and gauge what is right or wrong from the environments and people around us. Our parents
encouraging us to go to school, stay away from drugs, and raising us to be responsible members
of society is an example of external social control. In contrast to informal social control, formal
social control employs alternative methods of behavioral control. According to Owen, Fradella,
Burke, Joplin (2012), Donald Black, a

Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing

Over the last years the focus of marketing has changed from transactional to relationship marketing
because companies realized that is cheaper to keep old customers rather than attracting new ones.
Also this shift has occurred because of the intense rivalry that can be noticed in every industry.
Besides its main goal of retaining customers and encouraging repeats, relationship marketing also
creates value through relationships between buyers and sellers as well inside the organisation, or
external with competitors, suppliers and distributors. A develop definition of relationship marketing
by Christian Grönroos in 1989 would be: The purpose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Improving customer satisfaction and longevity, providing a competitive edge and reducing
marketing expenses are just relationship marketing strategies that have a great impact on a
company. By adopting this marketing pattern, there are created benefits, not only for the service
firm but also for its loyal customers, such as lower marketing expenditures, stability, new barriers
for new competitors and reduced uncertainty. A big advantage for the relationship marketing
approach is that it lowers the operating costs. Having loyal customers means that the company gets
to know its buyers more and more with each transaction. Being based on a relationship approach, a
company requires less information about the customer because with each encounter with him, the
firm adds new information to the customer database. Strategically, a company based on the
relationship marketing, has long term customers increasing their profits. Having more advantages
for the customers than a traditional transactional marketing based company, a relationship
marketing approach confers the company the possibility of charging more for their services without
affecting the number of customers. A good example is the medical industry where a known
individual might be willing to pay more for a doctor they know rather than choosing a cheaper
competitor. In the services market a company may even charge more their premium customers for

The Use of the Real Options Theory in
Financial Management and Financial Modeling
Introduction
The presence of real options within any business venture sets up the ability for institutions to
pinpoint the strategic options and opportunities that are embedded in their everyday projects and
investments. In viewing these options and in understanding that each of these has the ability to
have a material impact on both cash flow and risk, it is essential that any company or entity dealing
with financial management fully understand the Real Options Theory, especially in its regard to
financial management and modeling within a business or institution. In understanding the issues
that come into play when the Real Options Theory is utilized, as well as viewing the available
literature on the topic, one can better apply the theory to first hand experiences in the workplace. In
doing so, an individual and financial managers in particular can begin to better understand which
applications of the theory are essential to the workplace in order to maximize total effect and
overall profitability. In understanding these facets, it becomes clear that the Real Options Theory
provides financial managers of any entity that employs it better strategic thinking and tools for
financial analysis, therefore imparting business success in the long run.

Parables In The Gospel Of Luke
The Gospel of Luke is the most descriptive account for Jesus Christ s life. Through this Gospel it
gives its readers a foretaste into the birth and early life of Jesus and his disciples. Luke described
who Jesus was as a person and what Jesus had accomplished through his life, death, and
resurrection. This Gospelhas various themes. Some themes are the parables, the role of the Holy
Spirit, and the joy and rejoicing. The Gospel of Lukehas some very significant parables that are
still taught today. One parable is The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25 37). In this
parable a man was walking down to Jericho when robbers attacked him. They left him there half
dead and beaten up. A priest happened to go down the same road and when he saw the man he
didn t even stop he kept walking. Also, a Levite saw him and walked past him on the other side.
But when a Samaritan saw him he stopped and had mercifulness for him. He helped him
bandaged his wounds, and then he carried the man onto his donkey and led him to an inn where
he could take care of him. He told the innkeeper to look after him and when he returns he will pay
any of the extra expenses.

From the beginning of time, racism and discrimination have existed. Many theories can be
attributed to how racism began. In Christianity, for example, the beginning of racism and
discrimination is believed to have started with Noah s son Ham. According to Genesis 9:20 27,
Noah curses his son Ham and sentences Ham s son to slavery. Additionally, Ham in the Hebrew
religion means black or burnt, this idea has carried to other religions and Ham was believed to be

The Dietary Guidelines On The Consumption Of Saturated Fats
For decades, the US Dietary Guidelines on the consumption of saturated fats has been suggesting
that consumers should be mindful of how dangerous they are to the human body and take active
steps to reduce these fats in their diets (American Heart Association). This advice is usually
presented as the claim that increased cholesterol levels and their adverse health effect can be
attributed to these harmful fatty substances. However, scientific research is forcing a change of
perspective on how saturated fats are viewed. Research now suggests they are not necessarily
harmful to the body as is commonly perceived. For this paper examines whether or not the US
Dietary Guidelines reflect the best practices in nutritional science as it relates to consuming
saturated fats and the maintenance good cardiovascular health. The US Department of Agriculture

Then the LORD said to Moses, Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I
have made a covenant with you and with Israel. (Exodus 34:27). From the very beginning,
covenants have been the promises that eternally bond relationships. Biblical characters have
demonstrated to us the journey to becoming a person of covenant, as well as the hardships that
come with it. Their developing relationships with God still exhibit modern day covenants we are
also cultivating with the Lord. After examining David and Noah s covenants with God, I am

Starting off, King David tells his servant, Peter, that he wants to build a temple for God. He
states, Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent. (2 Sam 7:1).
It is evident that David has good intentions, but this is not the path that God intended! God
knows David s purposes, and tells Nathan the prophet, I have not dwelt in a house from the day
I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day... did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I
commanded to shepherd my people Israel, Why have you not built me a house of cedar? (2
Samuel 7:6 7). It is very clear that David is not exactly where God wanted him to be. David
thinks he is helping God by building him a temple, but in reality, it is offending the Lord. God is
the real king, not David, and it is evident that the Lord want to be universal, not stationary in a
temple. Although He has good aims, David is not going in God s direction. This story is
relatable, as I often do not pay attention to the purposes God has for me, instead I focus on the
ones I have for him. Similar to David, I sometimes forget that the Lord desires to provide me with
strength, and I cannot attempt to be inferior to Him. When God has

The Blues, A Genre Of Music
Does one have to be black and from the south to play the blues?
The blues, a genre of music so well known and so universal, that one knows is associated with
black culture; and forever connected to it. However, some may argue that not anyone can play the
blues and blues is only black music. That being said, does it matter what the skin color of an
individual may be to play the blues? In contrast I strongly believe anyone can play the blues
because music is the purest form of creativity and communication.
The reality is that today it is seen it all over, countless of people from many parts of the globe
perform this genre of music known as The Blues. It is played by the millions and by many
different races some of which are not from the south; but is it wrong for them to play it? Certain
individuals may believe that playing the blues, one has to be black to even be considered. There
is an individual who argues that one needs to really have The Blues to play them and it is only
black music. (Harris, 2015 n.p) On the other hand I would consider that the culture or race of the
performer does not matter. People from all races and backgrounds experience the blues, this genre
of music has become universal; it is a part of world music now. it is wonderful to think that a genre
of music once viewed as wrong or barbaric has become so well popularized and loved.
When one thinks of the blues one almost always pictures a lone black man in his guitar singing his
troubles away.

Example Of Dichotomy
Victor Hanson s article lacks supporting evidence and provides a narrow point of view to a
complex situation. When evaluating information and determining if it is logically compelling, the
premises must be acceptable, relevant, and sufficient. The article does not meet the required
premises because it lacks sufficient support and contains several logical fallacies.
The premise of the article is that the United States will continue to decline and potentially cease to
exist if they continue to reduce defense spending and increase social spending, which results in
more government dependent citizens. The premise is a slippery slope fallacy. A slippery slope
logical fallacy occurs when a predicted outcome is based on a specific chain reaction, but there is
not enough evidence to support the chain reaction will occur or produce the predicted outcome.
The article references four different historical civilizations that failed because their citizens grew
dependent on the government and because their government cut defense spending. The historical
civilizations mentioned lack similarities to the U.S. government s structure, current international
relations, military capability and economic capacity. The increase in government ... Show more

Figurative Language In Invictus By William Earnest Henley
The poem Invictus by William Earnest Henley is a poem writen so that the audience could
easily relate. This poem was written in the late 1800 s, but the meaning of this poem was so true
back then and even is up to this day. Its giing hope that no matter how hard a trial becomes it can
be overcome. It is a part of life, trials are given to make us stronger. Wheher we rise to the
occasion or cower down is all a test to see our true potential. People who really understand this
poem take the meaning to heart. This is why it is one of the most well known poems. Henley
doesnt just come right out and say it he uses many diferent figures of speech to get his mesage
across to the readers. In Invictus he uses three main elements of speech. He uses imagery,
personifiation, and metaphors. Imagery is a very desciptive form of figurative language to help
the reader create a mental picture. The reason why imagery is used in Invictus is to provide the
reader a way to undersand the poem and it provides them an oportunity to understand the author s
true feelings. He uses very creative words to create a picture of the pain and misery that he feels in
the begining. In the end of the poem he lets the reader... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bludgeoning s of chance (Henley). In this one the word chance is being given a human
characteristic of be able to physically hit something or someone. Henley is describing his suffering
and the pain to something that is constantly striking him and never letting up causing him horrible

Spirited Away Symbolism
Another character development showed an example in the move, Spirited Away when Master
Haku, a boy in the spirit world who assisted Chihiro seemed as though he couldn t be trusted;
however, the scene flipped where Haku was shown as a loving caring person. Additionally, in
Ponyo an example was also shown of Sosuke, a little boy helping Ponyo when she was trapped in
a jar; at first, the way the director depicted that scene, it seemed as if the boy was going to hurt
Ponyo which turned out not to be the case, that he too, like Haku was a loving caring human being.

Due to the recent economic crisis, it is time to rethink corporate strategy, especially as it applies
to the global environment. In 2009, the value of international trade was expected to decline by as

predicting a rough decade to come with weak global growth, pressures from overcapacity,
persistently high unemployment, volatility in the financial markets, costlier capital, a greatly
expanded role from governments, a much larger burden of regulation and taxation for all, and
maybe even increased protectionism. (Ghemawat 56) These are exactly the types of things the

become especially pronounced as companies expand into poorer markets. As multinationals
continue their global expansion efforts, it will be important to not only tailor strategy to local
markets but also individual products and services. This section highlights a very important topic
as it points out the current focus on the urban elite. The urban elite make up a relatively
insignificant portion of potential customers worldwide. If companies can find a way to serve

Informed Consent Essay
Consent
Health care professionals are obliged by common law to obtain consent before any medical
treatment is given to a patient. Every person has the right to decide what happens to his or her
body, therefore, can choose to accept or refuse medical treatment (Townsend Luck, 2013, p. 93).
This article aims to outline what is determined as lawful consent and how it applies in paramedic
practice.
There are three main types of consent, verbal, written or implied. We take implied consent to be
something such as a nod of the head or holding out an arm to have a blood pressure reading.
(Townsend Luck, 2013, p. 94). To be considered valid consent the permission must be voluntary,

(Devereux, 2007, p. 196). In Australia, an adult is recognised as someone eighteen years of age or
older (Townsend Luck, 2013, p. 92). Children and those suffering from a mental illness or mental
handicap are deemed incompetent and thus incapable of giving consent to treatment (Devereux,
2007, pp. 196 198). A child s parent or guardian can lawfully give consent (White et al., 2010, p.
114).
In summary, a paramedic should adhere to a patient s ethical right of autonomy. Where possible
they should obtain informed consent using the laws and ethical guidelines set down. If a patient is
incapable of giving consent, any medical treatment provided must be required and in the patients
best interest. References

Who Was To Blame The Titanic Essay
In the year 1912 a ship named Titanic set out on her first voyage, but she never made it back. The
word was that this ship was unsinkable but that was proven wrong when she capsized along an
iceberg. The ship had many people aboard; some like Ruth Elizabeth Becker survived while
others died trapped in the water. Thousands of individuals believe that the Titanic sank due to the
large iceberg that it hit, but that s not the major factor in why so many lives were lost that day.
There were many contributors (most of them being human selfishness and faults). The ship had
many indications of failure before even hitting the ice. They were warned multiple times by
neighboring ships of possible danger, passengers reacted terribly in the chaos taking the every
man for themselves approach, pride, the lower class were not seen as equals and therefore not
prioritized, and the #1 cause made by crew and passengers alike is ignorance. The crew had been
warned about the icebergs in their path but would not slow down for the sake of an image. The
ship was barely filled with water when the people had been first notified of the hit, hundreds could
be saved with such a fast notice but instead they locked a whole class of people in with the water

own livelihood and image when in a disaster. Yes, there were passengers who sacrificed their lives
for others and crew members who most likely felt uneasy after hearing the warnings from the
intercom; but there was also 1,503 lives lost that could ve been

Endotherm
Endotherm refers to animals that adjust core temperature by internal corrective mechanism such as
humans. Most of the endotherm keep their body temperature around 35В°C to 40В°C. The body
temperature is controlled by the thermoregulatory centre in the hypothalamus. The temperature
regulating centers are discovered in the preoptic area situated in the anterior portion of the
hypothalamus. The function of this area is to receive information from temperaturereceptors located
in the skin, mucous membranes and also from the central thermoreceptors that monitor the
temperature of bloodthat pass through the brain. The hypothalamic thermostat works with other
areas of the brain to maintain the core temperature. When human facing cold weather, our skin
temperature drops. This stimulates skin cold receptors. When The thermoregulatory centre is
stimulated, hypothalamic thermostat and higher cortical centers are received all those signals. The
temperature change in the blood activated the thermostat. It cause response to control temperature.

Pros And Cons Of President Hoover s New Deal
Economics can be defined as the study of the efficient allocation of scarce resources. Scarcity, a
basic concept of economics, states that society has an insufficient amount of productive resources
to fill all human wants and needs. The federal government fits into all of this by guiding the
overall pace of economic activity. They attempt to do so by to maintaining a steady economic
growth, high levels of employment, and price stability. How they carry these actions out, however,

Say s Law is an economic rule that claims supply creates its own demand. Ironically, Adam Smith

where employers could profitably offer them jobs (Armstrong Economics). This declaration would
have remained true if unionization had not come to rise. Unions are recognized as organized
associations of workers formed to protect and further worker rights and interests. Because of unions,
Keynes argued that workers would not allow their wages to be lowered. Furthermore, in his General

No Arabic in and English Class
1.0 Introduction
According to the ministry of education in Kuwait it has always been a sin when teach ers use
Arabic in an English class, even if it is to clarify a certain aspect that students could not grasp.
Well, whether we like it or not, Learners of L2 tend to use L1 when learning the target language,
this argument has been proven by a number of re searchers (Atkinson, 1987; Auerbach, 1993;
Cook, 2001; Nation, 2003), and ignoring it or pretending that it is not happening might lead to
pedagogical implications.
Decision makers in ELT unit in the Ministry of Education, who adopt the notion that us ing Arabic
when teaching English is a taboo , have to hear the other voice that considers the use of L1 when
teaching L2 is very helpful and works to facilitate the learning process.

The Legacy Of Louis XIV And The Sun King
History remembers Louis XIV as a great patron of the arts, for his work as ballet dancer and for
his relationship with artists like Moliere. History also remembers him for his political savvy, his
ability to consolidate his power and pioneer political absolutism; however, often, history fails to
recognize the essential linkage between these two seemingly distinct worlds that Louis
inhabited, the artistic and the political. In fact, Louis experiences growing up taught him both
the inherent adoration and worship given to the French king and the consequences if he did not
fully exploit that power but rather allowed it to become diluted. As he came of age and fully
took on the role of the king, Louis harnessed the divinity and clout of his position to consolidate
his power by expertly playing the role of the king as if he were an actor upon a stage and then by
using spectacle and theatricality to not only reinforce that role but also to diminish the power of
his nobles. Louis XIV s legacy is that of le roi du soleil the Sun King. Even hundreds of years
later, history memorializes him through this epic mythological lens. During Louis reign,
heliocentrism had finally come into favor, so his epithet of the Sun King placed him literally at
the center of the entire universe in both an astrological and spiritual sense. This exalted status
worked directly with the traditional divinity of French kings to glorify Louis XIV. In fact, when he
was born, before he was ever the Sun

the time. This measure considers the number of nights a child lives with each parent throughout the
year. While exceptions account for unusual circumstances, generally, the parent... Show more

Again, the court s role remains to advocate for the best interest of the child. The following areas
may be considered in determining dependency:
Health and Safety
The basic rights to a healthy, safe home for children of divorce are protected in Florida courts.
Alterations to the shared parental responsibility stance occur when evidence of potential or real
harm to the child exists. Domestic or sexual violence, child abuse, abandonment or neglect fall
within this category. Plus, diminished parental mental or physical health, or substance abuse in the
home effect dependency determinations.
Emotional and Developmental Needs
As the court strives to put the child s needs and best interests at the heart of decisions, so it
expects of parents. Looking at proof of each parent s ability and desire to provide for developmental
needs and be active in the child s life becomes part of the process. Evidence the court finds useful
includes a parent s:
knowledge of the child s friends, teachers and medical care providers
awareness of the child s routines, activities and favorite things

Peru
Peru is not only mountains like most people think, the country actually has chilly sierras, a dry
coast, and a humid jungle. Peru is a large country of contrasts when it comes to the regions and
climates that come with each region (Shields 10 13). The amount of people occupying these
regions in the country is an impressive 30.95 million as of 2013 (Gottlieb 1). The culture of course,
like any other country, has little differences in traditions and the ways of life depending on the part
of the country. The differences vary anywhere from festivals to food throughout the country. For
each of the regions like the Andres Mountains, what Peruis most geographically known for, are

Even though that Spanish is the official language is apparent that the region and the culture have
an influence on the language and dialect as well. Like many countries throughout the world,
region to region the way people talk varies in accent and dialect. Even though many people may
speak the same official language there is always differences. People in Peru do not only just speak

Essay On Boeing
Executive Summary
In fierce competition with Boeing, venture into VLA segment as a rather neglected segment by
Boeing could pose as a strategic opportunity for Airbus which it could utilize to build a
competitive advantage combined with its technological resources and capabilities. However, its
assumptions of a drastic increase in VLAs demanded in next 20 years along with its ability to
satisfy most of this are too optimistic. Provided that these assumptions (inc. breakeven points,
initial order requirements) are normalized, A3XX is a project worthy to pursue for Airbus in order
to exploit a neglected spot on the perceptional map long haul + big capacity. When we hold the
market itself continues to grow as proposed in the case, this ... Show more content on

We don t have a market risk premium value at hand for aviation sector but even if it is 15% the
rate of return Airbus presumes then 3.9% + 0.84X(15 3.9) = 13.2. So the project seems feasible.
However, when we apply the operating margin of 15% 20% as the source of cash flow per
plane, we see that from 288 to 385 planes would be needed for a breakeven to compensate
investment costs. If we also take into consideration of the fact that these payments will not be
made all in the first year, each cash flow will need to be discounted based on real interest rate
(3.9%) and the year in question. We can easily say, if the plane price is not appropriated
accordingly each year, the breakeven point will go even farther away from what Airbus imagined.
As for competition, Boeing had built approximately 85% of the industry s current fleet, which
indicates the high experience and brand awareness of Boeing in the industry, which is a
competitive advantage in terms of strong service level. 747 400 is the only model that can be
seen as an alternative to the new Airbus VLA models. Boeing s 747 launch case indicates that this
kind of decision to make for Airbus should based on long term projections. It can be seen as
unnecessary for the

Behavior Modification And Operant Conditioning
The effort to complete a successful change in behavior is known as behavior modification. The
whole definition of the term as discovered by psychologist B.F Skinner for the best way to
understand behavior is to look at the causes of an action and its consequences. He called this
approach operant conditioning(McLeod). The name which went on to be distinguishable from the
term classical conditioning which is commonly referenced to the study of Pavlov s dog. Behavior
modification/operant condition is drastically different from this in that the have several techniques
both positive and negative to insure a positive change in condition. Does this always work? The
experiment and the results are proof in case for each individual study . B.F Skinner first showed us
operant conditioningthrough the use of animals (rats/pigeons) to show how the effects of positive
/negative reinforces as techniques help the progression of a modification in behavior (also known
as operant conditioning). Which do you suppose is more effective a positive reinforcement or a
negative reinforcement in operant conditioning? B.F Skinner developed three different type of
responses to signify the importance of his study ; Neutral Operants, Reinforcers, and Punishers
(McLeod). They are defined as below: Netural Operants responses from the environment that
neither increase or decrease the probability of a behavior being repeated.(McLeod) Reinforcers
there are two types: positive and negative.

Restaurant Analysis
Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ is located in Lexington, South Carolina right off of Highway Six. It
is a small restaurant, but large for a barbecue place. The building is a rectangle shape, inside and
out, the inside is split into sections, two sections for seating, a section for the drive thru window,
and a section for the drinks and BBQ sauces. When I visited Maurice s, half of the seating was
blocked off, I am guessing it is only used for larger parties, and the other half is full of families
and couples, sweet tea filling all of their styrofoam cups. The drive thru window is busy with
people in cars being handed food and drinks, and waitresses running around bringing customers
their food. All the floors I can see are a white tile, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key for a restaurant to run smoothly and efficiently, especially when there is only one
register, like Maurice s, is to have a well designed menu to explain the sandwiches and
combinations enough so the customer will not spend a lot of time asking the cashier questions.
The main menu on display in Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ does just that. Another important
aspect the menu has is the prices, which were a little higher than I had expected, some items
were priced at almost twenty dollars. When I visited Maurice s, I ordered a serving of banana
pudding and five hush puppies and the order ended up costing just over seven dollars, which is a
whole meal and a milkshake at Cookout. I imagine the owner s have to have it at this price, since
everything is homemade and real southern cooking. The prices also keep the noisy, crazy college
students away, making the restaurant more of a family establishment, attracting families and
older people, the type of people who do not mind to spend a little more for better quality food.
Maurice s menu not only serves the obvious functions of showing customers what is served and at
what cost, but it also brings people together. The menu represents the food people come in to order,
so they can sit down and eat together. This heart of the restaurant shows the love that is shown here
when families choose to eat at Maurice s together, instead of eating by themselves or eating in

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual And Nonjudgmental Groups In The...
Target Population
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) community does not just represent one
specific group or individual, LGBT represents every race, religion, ethnicity, and social class. I
would not say that the attributes that cause the such a high increase in suicide attempts and
successful suicides as a unique quality. More like, they are a vulnerabilities that make individuals
feel as if they do not belong. People in the LGBT community feel out of place, not accepted, the
community has an anti gay stigma, harassed, discriminated against and little to no family or
community support (Health People 2020, 2017). The rise in campus resources such as information
on depression, suicide and STD s can related to these vulnerabilities because the LGBT
community is silently calling for help. They are experiencing some type of trouble, some group on
campus, other individuals or just the community is not welcoming to them. The campus might not
have very strict laws against bullying, which is not effectively protecting its students. The
students in who identify as LGBT might not feel like the school has effective programs for them,
or that the campus health is o a save nonjudgmental place for them. I do believe that the LGBT
community can be divided into sections. The different L G B T can each be spilt up into different
sections. Since each group faces their own problem, for example, Lesbians only like women, so
they will utilize different resources then say

Why I Am Watching Tv
Sixteen Years, Sixteen Days, and the Rest of my Life On August 12, 2014 I was watching TV in
the morning before heading over to my grandparents house for breakfast. The news was on with
a headline at the bottom of the screen which began with the word Ebola , but I could see was
bola. Every once in a while, a flash of the E would enter my vision, but it did not stay in there for
more than a second. Wondering what was going on I looked around the room, but nothing looked
out of place, the only problem with my vision was when I looked at the TV. After a short amount
of time this strange obstruction to my vision went away and as soon as my father and brother we
went over to my grandparents house. Every Tuesday, we would have... Show more content on

Our job for the day was to prune Fire Blight from some of the Ginger Gold apple trees. Just as I
walked up to the first tree, the pain in my head became unbearable. I told my father that it felt
like I was standing on top of my head. One option was to go to the Emergency Room, but I opted
to go to my regular doctor instead so my father made an appointment for me at ten o clock. When
my father called, he was instructed to give me some medicine to relieve my headache and to
have me drink some water. After taking some medicine and drinking some water, I went over to
my grandmother s office so she could keep an eye on my symptoms. Usually rest helps to relieve
my headaches so I laid my head down to rest, but doing so only made the pain worse. My father
stopped in the office to check on me before going back out to work when I told him that I could
not wait until ten o clock. We went to the ER, but before we left I began to feel nauseous. Once
we arrived at the ER we signed in and we were brought to a room where I was given some
medicine to relieve my nausea. A nurse came in who asked questions about how I was feeling or
what symptoms I had had and came to the conclusion that I had a migraine with aura, but just to
be safe she decided to do a CT scan. After the CT scan the nurse came back in to tell us that I had
a cyst in my brain, but that that was normal for children about my age. The nurse

Fast Fashion On Fast Food Industry
Slow Fashion
Fast fashion is a force that needs constant change from retailers; new garments and new trends cycle
out as fast as a bi weekly basis, putting pressure on the industry to sell fast and cheap to the
consumer. However, with the news publishing more articles about the working conditions in
factories, comparable to the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh, and the run off pollution these
factories produce, the consumer is demanding more transparency in the supply chain. The
introduction to slow fashion came from this demand of wanting a better understanding of the
garments we wear, similar to the slow food movement that surfaced from the fast food industry. The
slow food movement began in Italy in the 1980s as a reaction to the ... Show more content on

Slowing down the consumption that is encouraged by fast fashion will help reduce raw materials
and decrease fashion production, allowing the earth time to regenerate and heal from the damage
industry creates to the environment (1B). Linda Greer, a senior scientist at the NRDC (Natural
Resources Defense Council, believes that the slow fashion movement will hold large retailers
accountable for its manufacturing aboard. Clean by Design is a program created by the NRDC that
works with retailers to green the fashion supply chain (4B). These types of programs will assist with
the large companies meeting the needs of the new movement of ethical consumerism where
consumers are demanding that the clothes they buy do not harm the environment or the workers
who made them (11B, pg.200).
Another aspect of the slow fashion movement is supporting the development of local businesses
by focusing on using local resources and materials, these companies take the claim of slow and
put it into practice by creating high quality and durable pieces with attentiveness in an
environmental way (1B). Many small businesses keep traditional methods of garment and textile
making, giving meaning to the products and how they were made. (1B) Kate Fletcher, a design
academic, explains, making a garment last is very different to making a long lasting garment (3,
pg. 227). Slow fashion pieces are to be worn for a long time, creating emotional durability that

Gun-Related Violence In Pop Culture
Gun related violence has long since been apart of American history dating all the way back to
colonization, western cowboys of the 19th century all the up to today s modern era. The revolver
has long since been a staple of American portrayals in pop culture. On June 21, 1968 TIME
magazine debuted its weekly issue with the cover dawning a cartoon hand and smoking revolver
accompanied by brightly contrasting colors. The image comes weeks after Senator Robert
Kennedy was assassinated in the lobby of a Los Angeles hotel. Nearly three months prior to that
atrocity, Martin Luther King Jr was shot and killed standing on the balcony of a motel room in
Memphis, Tennessee. That same year, American households were still gripping to the striking

Roy Lichtenstein s color usage and choice ties in perfectly with the magazine s legacy and
heritage. Sticking with primary colors, the blue background offers a patriotic sense to the cover
in conjunction with the red perimeter. The color choice relates to the traditional American colors
and displays Lichtenstein s classic usage of irony. Usage of the blue and red with the smoking
gun characterizes the undying pride American s have for their country even during times of
chaos. The portrayal of how American s choose to turn away from seeing the harm that is being
done not only to the country s reputation but to the citizens as well. Choosing to use yellow not
only continues the comic style theme but it also gives the audience a major contrast in relation to
the more classical colors. The yellow forces the reader s conscious to make the connection
between the smoke and the importance of the text to the right of it. Keeping the colors, and the
cover as a whole, relatively basic allows the reader to dive into the essence behind the

  • 2. Essay about African American Male Feminist The theory of an African American male feminist is a relatively new concept that is rapidly growing. Alexander Crummell, who was an advocate of black feminism stated, For, humble and benighted as she is, the black woman of the South is one of the queens of womanhood. If there is any other woman on this earth who in native aboriginal qualities is her superior, I know not where she is to be found. Before I discuss the importance, relevance and substance of what it is to be not only a successful male feminist but a universally accepted male feminist, I will first lay the foundation of what a feminist is from the ground up. In this paper I will construct an analysis of African Americanmale feminist thought using pieces of literature such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But women had not gained freedom even though they d taken equally tremendous risk through those dangerous years. Although they were not the first group of women to have those thoughts, they were the first however to plan and carry out a plan on a large scale program. These women gathered within two days of their conversation and placed an announcement at the Seneca County Courier to call a convention to discuss the social, civil, and religious condition and rights of woman. These women were looking to change the world (Legacy 98) In 1861 a man named John Stuart Mill wrote The Subjection of Women which was said to have fueled the ideology of the Women s Rights Movement. Mill discussed the role of women in society during that time, pointing out how the patriarchy placed such an intense limit on what women could do. Patriarchy is a system in which the male race governs societal views or social organization marked by the supremacy of the father in the clan or family, the legal dependence of wives and children, and the reckoning of descent and inheritance in the male line; broadly: control by men of a disproportionately large share of power (Merriam Webster). His work raised the consciousness of many women. With the Caucasian women leading the way into the Women s Rights Movement, African American women were not far behind them. • 3. Essay on Parkinson’s Disease Parkinson s Disease Parkinson s disease is a disease with a wide variety of disabilities recognizable as changes in appearance, posture, walking, and balance. In 1817, the English physician James Parkinson described these symptoms in his patients and has had his name become synonymous with the disease. In 1893 the substantia nigra of the basal ganglia was identified as an area of disease for Parkinson s. Examination with the naked eye reveals a lack of black pigment in this portion of the brainstem. Subsequent follow up with the microscope showed a deterioration of the nerve cells in this area. The circuitous relationship between the substantia nigra and the basal ganglia explains many of the symptoms of Parkinson s disease. Today the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Consequently, both the basal ganglia and the cerebellum are influenced by and return influence to the descending motor pathways (pyramidal and extrapyramidal), which affect the activity of the lower motoneurons. The substantia nigra is a subcortical nucleus that is closely related to basal ganglia. It is reciprocally connected with the striatum and sends efferents to the ventral anterior and dorsomedial thalamic nuclei and, to some extent, to the ventral lateral thalamic nuclei. The substantia nigra pars reticulata also projects to the superior colliculus. Neurons that originate in the striatum and project to the substantia nigra are inhibitory and utilize the neurotransmitters GABA and substance P. Fibers that arise in the pars compacta of the substantia nigra use the neurotransmitter dopamine and synapse in the striatum, while GABAminergic cells in the pars reticulata receive striatal input and project to the thalamus. Recordings from neurons in the basal ganglia of monkeys during various motor tasks reveal that the discharge of single cells in the neostriatum show a direct correlation with movements of the contralateral arm or leg, and that the discharge of substantial percentage of neurons precedes the onset of a movement. These studies suggest that the basal ganglia participate in movements at a high level, including the planning of movement synergy s. I have identified 8 issues and challenges that currently plague the unit and are having an adverse effect on it and our soldiers. Additionally, discussion will focus on the top three of these issues as well as the importance of resolving the most important one of them with the greatest of speed. While the unit was successful in accomplishing all of their missions in Iraq, the CALL s extensive study identified several issues that I believe will have an impact on our future effectiveness. Allowing the DCO to function as deputy commander is vital to ensuring that our unit command structure remains in place. I was recently contacted by the brigade provost marshal and informed about an undocumented report of a brigade sniper shooting and killing and Iraqi civilian. I was further informed that the soldier who reported it to provost marshal had previously informed it to the Brigade S 2 but it was not clear if any investigation had been done on this matter. • 6. Role Of Internal Audit On The Organization Outside The... MEMO To:Non accounting specialists From:Miriam Lombe, Junior Accountant Cc:Finance Director Date:15/12/2014 Subject:Role of Internal Audit It has come to my attention that the role of internal audit is not clear to some members of the organization outside the finance department. Therefore, it was decided that a memo is written to explain clearly the role of internal audit. Internal auditing is an independent, objective assurance and consulting function intended to add value and improve an organization s operations. The audit function can help an organization to achieve objectives by evaluating an organizations risk management, control and governance processes to help improve them. Internal auditors (IA) assess how well risks are being managed in an organization, how the organization is being governed and how well internal control systems and processes are working. They report their findings to senior management, highlighting and advising management where improvements in systems controls and processes are necessary. By evaluating an organization s risk management and assisting management in improvement of internal controls, IA s help management to clearly show stakeholders that they are managing the organization well. Different from external auditors, IA s work within an organization and their work can vary depending on the business requirements. They do not only look at financial risks and statements but at a range of issues that are key to a company s survival ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Global And Being Known As A Successful International... Going global and being known as a successful international corporate is an impressive achievement that almost all companies aim to attain. To successfully convert a business from domestic to international, a firm will need to consider a new set of factors that might not necessarily affect a local only company. Companies use a number of tactics to achieve their global expansion plans, including exporting goods, forming strategic partnerships, licensing, acquiring businesses and building new facilities in multiple countries. Often, a company may need to try out few strategies in order to find the perfect fit. Many global expansion failures results from companies temptation /decision to apply their domestic management approach to global operations. Grolsch, like other companies, encountered many impasses during their international expansions. Nonetheless, much can be learned from Grolsch, successes and failures. Grolsch s global strategy is based on the MABA process that is described in the case. What is your opinion of the MABA process? While there are great potentials in exploring new opportunities overseas, there can also be considerable risks associated in doing business in an unfamiliar environment. Companies need a comprehensive approach to assess the benefits and potential pitfalls in going global. Grolsch does so through its MABA (Market Attractiveness, Business Assessment) framework. • 9. Criminal Behavior And Social Control Our society is at the will of two fundamental forces: deviant behavior and social control. Behaviors that are not deemed as socially acceptable, or that do not fall in line with what society calls normal , are deviant. Social control aims to influence people s behaviors and is a means of moderating, as well as preventing deviance. The two forms of social control are informal and formal social control. The former consists of self control and relational controls (Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin, 2012, p. 103) while the latter uses governmental resources to deter deviance in its citizens. In my opinion, informal social control is a better deterrent of criminal behavior since your own will and how you are raised can be the greatest forces driving a person to live a good life or choose to start one. Informal social control comes down to two forms of interactions the ones that you form with yourself that develop your conscience and those that you experience with others. The first, internal, can not necessarily exist without the second, external, because we learn and gauge what is right or wrong from the environments and people around us. Our parents encouraging us to go to school, stay away from drugs, and raising us to be responsible members of society is an example of external social control. In contrast to informal social control, formal social control employs alternative methods of behavioral control. According to Owen, Fradella, Burke, Joplin (2012), Donald Black, a ... Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing | 2012| | Relationship Marketing Approaches in Services Marketing | | | Over the last years the focus of marketing has changed from transactional to relationship marketing because companies realized that is cheaper to keep old customers rather than attracting new ones. Improving customer satisfaction and longevity, providing a competitive edge and reducing marketing expenses are just relationship marketing strategies that have a great impact on a company. By adopting this marketing pattern, there are created benefits, not only for the service firm but also for its loyal customers, such as lower marketing expenditures, stability, new barriers for new competitors and reduced uncertainty. A big advantage for the relationship marketing approach is that it lowers the operating costs. Having loyal customers means that the company gets to know its buyers more and more with each transaction. Being based on a relationship approach, a company requires less information about the customer because with each encounter with him, the firm adds new information to the customer database. Strategically, a company based on the relationship marketing, has long term customers increasing their profits. Having more advantages for the customers than a traditional transactional marketing based company, a relationship marketing approach confers the company the possibility of charging more for their services without affecting the number of customers. A good example is the medical industry where a known individual might be willing to pay more for a doctor they know rather than choosing a cheaper competitor. Some themes are the parables, the role of the Holy Spirit, and the joy and rejoicing. The Gospel of Lukehas some very significant parables that are still taught today. One parable is The Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25 37). In this parable a man was walking down to Jericho when robbers attacked him. They left him there half dead and beaten up. A priest happened to go down the same road and when he saw the man he didn t even stop he kept walking. Also, a Levite saw him and walked past him on the other side. But when a Samaritan saw him he stopped and had mercifulness for him. He helped him bandaged his wounds, and then he carried the man onto his donkey and led him to an inn where he could take care of him. The Dietary Guidelines On The Consumption Of Saturated Fats For decades, the US Dietary Guidelines on the consumption of saturated fats has been suggesting that consumers should be mindful of how dangerous they are to the human body and take active steps to reduce these fats in their diets (American Heart Association). This advice is usually presented as the claim that increased cholesterol levels and their adverse health effect can be attributed to these harmful fatty substances. However, scientific research is forcing a change of perspective on how saturated fats are viewed. Research now suggests they are not necessarily harmful to the body as is commonly perceived. For this paper examines whether or not the US Dietary Guidelines reflect the best practices in nutritional science as it relates to consuming saturated fats and the maintenance good cardiovascular health. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) published the first dietary recommendations in 1894 (Center for NutritionPolicy and Promotions U.S. Department of Agriculture) and over time the familiar artifacts that have become a part of nutritional data such as recommended daily allowances and food guides were developed (Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotions U.S. Department of Agriculture). • 19. David And Noah Research Paper Then the LORD said to Moses, Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel. (Exodus 34:27). From the very beginning, covenants have been the promises that eternally bond relationships. Biblical characters have demonstrated to us the journey to becoming a person of covenant, as well as the hardships that come with it. Their developing relationships with God still exhibit modern day covenants we are also cultivating with the Lord. After examining David and Noah s covenants with God, I am realizing that my covenant relationship with the Lord is like theirs in the sense that I often inconsiderately stray from God s path, but progressively become more on track as God further motivates me.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting off, King David tells his servant, Peter, that he wants to build a temple for God. He states, Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent. (2 Sam 7:1). It is evident that David has good intentions, but this is not the path that God intended! God knows David s purposes, and tells Nathan the prophet, I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought the Israelites up out of Egypt to this day... did I ever say to any of their rulers whom I commanded to shepherd my people Israel, Why have you not built me a house of cedar? (2 Samuel 7:6 7). It is very clear that David is not exactly where God wanted him to be. David thinks he is helping God by building him a temple, but in reality, it is offending the Lord. God is the real king, not David, and it is evident that the Lord want to be universal, not stationary in a temple. Although He has good aims, David is not going in God s direction. This story is relatable, as I often do not pay attention to the purposes God has for me, instead I focus on the ones I have for him. The blues, a genre of music so well known and so universal, that one knows is associated with black culture; and forever connected to it. However, some may argue that not anyone can play the blues and blues is only black music. That being said, does it matter what the skin color of an individual may be to play the blues? In contrast I strongly believe anyone can play the blues because music is the purest form of creativity and communication. The reality is that today it is seen it all over, countless of people from many parts of the globe perform this genre of music known as The Blues. It is played by the millions and by many different races some of which are not from the south; but is it wrong for them to play it? Certain individuals may believe that playing the blues, one has to be black to even be considered. There is an individual who argues that one needs to really have The Blues to play them and it is only black music. (Harris, 2015 n.p) On the other hand I would consider that the culture or race of the performer does not matter. People from all races and backgrounds experience the blues, this genre of music has become universal; it is a part of world music now. it is wonderful to think that a genre of music once viewed as wrong or barbaric has become so well popularized and loved. The word was that this ship was unsinkable but that was proven wrong when she capsized along an iceberg. The ship had many people aboard; some like Ruth Elizabeth Becker survived while others died trapped in the water. Thousands of individuals believe that the Titanic sank due to the large iceberg that it hit, but that s not the major factor in why so many lives were lost that day. There were many contributors (most of them being human selfishness and faults). The ship had many indications of failure before even hitting the ice. They were warned multiple times by neighboring ships of possible danger, passengers reacted terribly in the chaos taking the every man for themselves approach, pride, the lower class were not seen as equals and therefore not prioritized, and the #1 cause made by crew and passengers alike is ignorance. • 40. The Legacy Of Louis XIV And The Sun King History remembers Louis XIV as a great patron of the arts, for his work as ballet dancer and for his relationship with artists like Moliere. History also remembers him for his political savvy, his ability to consolidate his power and pioneer political absolutism; however, often, history fails to recognize the essential linkage between these two seemingly distinct worlds that Louis inhabited, the artistic and the political. In fact, Louis experiences growing up taught him both the inherent adoration and worship given to the French king and the consequences if he did not fully exploit that power but rather allowed it to become diluted. As he came of age and fully took on the role of the king, Louis harnessed the divinity and clout of his position to consolidate his power by expertly playing the role of the king as if he were an actor upon a stage and then by using spectacle and theatricality to not only reinforce that role but also to diminish the power of his nobles. Louis XIV s legacy is that of le roi du soleil the Sun King. Even hundreds of years later, history memorializes him through this epic mythological lens. During Louis reign, heliocentrism had finally come into favor, so his epithet of the Sun King placed him literally at the center of the entire universe in both an astrological and spiritual sense. This exalted status worked directly with the traditional divinity of French kings to glorify Louis XIV. In fact, when he was born, before he was ever the Sun ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 43. Essay On Boeing Executive Summary In fierce competition with Boeing, venture into VLA segment as a rather neglected segment by Boeing could pose as a strategic opportunity for Airbus which it could utilize to build a competitive advantage combined with its technological resources and capabilities. However, its assumptions of a drastic increase in VLAs demanded in next 20 years along with its ability to satisfy most of this are too optimistic. Provided that these assumptions (inc. breakeven points, initial order requirements) are normalized, A3XX is a project worthy to pursue for Airbus in order to exploit a neglected spot on the perceptional map long haul + big capacity. When we hold the market itself continues to grow as proposed in the case, this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We don t have a market risk premium value at hand for aviation sector but even if it is 15% the rate of return Airbus presumes then 3.9% + 0.84X(15 3.9) = 13.2. So the project seems feasible. However, when we apply the operating margin of 15% 20% as the source of cash flow per plane, we see that from 288 to 385 planes would be needed for a breakeven to compensate investment costs. If we also take into consideration of the fact that these payments will not be made all in the first year, each cash flow will need to be discounted based on real interest rate (3.9%) and the year in question. We can easily say, if the plane price is not appropriated accordingly each year, the breakeven point will go even farther away from what Airbus imagined. As for competition, Boeing had built approximately 85% of the industry s current fleet, which indicates the high experience and brand awareness of Boeing in the industry, which is a competitive advantage in terms of strong service level. 747 400 is the only model that can be seen as an alternative to the new Airbus VLA models. • 44. Behavior Modification And Operant Conditioning The effort to complete a successful change in behavior is known as behavior modification. The whole definition of the term as discovered by psychologist B.F Skinner for the best way to understand behavior is to look at the causes of an action and its consequences. He called this approach operant conditioning(McLeod). The name which went on to be distinguishable from the term classical conditioning which is commonly referenced to the study of Pavlov s dog. Behavior modification/operant condition is drastically different from this in that the have several techniques both positive and negative to insure a positive change in condition. Does this always work? The experiment and the results are proof in case for each individual study . B.F Skinner first showed us operant conditioningthrough the use of animals (rats/pigeons) to show how the effects of positive /negative reinforces as techniques help the progression of a modification in behavior (also known as operant conditioning). Which do you suppose is more effective a positive reinforcement or a negative reinforcement in operant conditioning? B.F Skinner developed three different type of responses to signify the importance of his study ; Neutral Operants, Reinforcers, and Punishers (McLeod). The building is a rectangle shape, inside and out, the inside is split into sections, two sections for seating, a section for the drive thru window, and a section for the drinks and BBQ sauces. When I visited Maurice s, half of the seating was blocked off, I am guessing it is only used for larger parties, and the other half is full of families and couples, sweet tea filling all of their styrofoam cups. The key for a restaurant to run smoothly and efficiently, especially when there is only one register, like Maurice s, is to have a well designed menu to explain the sandwiches and combinations enough so the customer will not spend a lot of time asking the cashier questions. The main menu on display in Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ does just that. Another important aspect the menu has is the prices, which were a little higher than I had expected, some items were priced at almost twenty dollars. When I visited Maurice s, I ordered a serving of banana pudding and five hush puppies and the order ended up costing just over seven dollars, which is a whole meal and a milkshake at Cookout. I imagine the owner s have to have it at this price, since everything is homemade and real southern cooking. The prices also keep the noisy, crazy college students away, making the restaurant more of a family establishment, attracting families and older people, the type of people who do not mind to spend a little more for better quality food. Maurice s menu not only serves the obvious functions of showing customers what is served and at what cost, but it also brings people together. The menu represents the food people come in to order, so they can sit down and eat together. I would not say that the attributes that cause the such a high increase in suicide attempts and successful suicides as a unique quality. More like, they are a vulnerabilities that make individuals feel as if they do not belong. People in the LGBT community feel out of place, not accepted, the community has an anti gay stigma, harassed, discriminated against and little to no family or community support (Health People 2020, 2017). The rise in campus resources such as information on depression, suicide and STD s can related to these vulnerabilities because the LGBT community is silently calling for help. They are experiencing some type of trouble, some group on campus, other individuals or just the community is not welcoming to them. The campus might not have very strict laws against bullying, which is not effectively protecting its students. The students in who identify as LGBT might not feel like the school has effective programs for them, or that the campus health is o a save nonjudgmental place for them. Fast Fashion On Fast Food Industry Slow Fashion Fast fashion is a force that needs constant change from retailers; new garments and new trends cycle out as fast as a bi weekly basis, putting pressure on the industry to sell fast and cheap to the consumer. However, with the news publishing more articles about the working conditions in factories, comparable to the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh, and the run off pollution these factories produce, the consumer is demanding more transparency in the supply chain. The introduction to slow fashion came from this demand of wanting a better understanding of the garments we wear, similar to the slow food movement that surfaced from the fast food industry.
