Frank Ball & Alec Bari (Evena Medical): AR Technology Revolutionizes the Futu...AugmentedWorldExpo

Frank Ball & Alec Bari (Evena Medical): AR Technology Revolutionizes the Future of Medicine
The very notion of technology is to improve on old, ineffective systems, especially in the healthcare industry. For thousands of years, bones were set blindly – now we use x-ray technology. For centuries, breast cancer exams were done by feeling for lumps – now we use mammograms. For decades, IV needles were inserted while trying to feel soft veins – today light and sound are making the invisible visible. Augmented reality (AR) is expected to make a major impact on the healthcare industry, and several companies are already disrupting the market. Medical device companies from Silicon Valley are making it possible for healthcare professionals to view clear, anatomically accurate, real-time deep tissue imaging of veins and arteries beneath the surface of the skin – via AR smart glasses. During this session, Evena Medical CEO Frank Ball, along with Evena Board Member and Amgen Medical Director Yan Chow, will demonstrate how new platforms can wirelessly display live ultrasounds via smart glasses and other mobile displays, such as a tablet or laptop, allowing physicians to remotely visualize veins, organs and tissue deep beneath the skin from anywhere in the world. This new technology has finally caught up with the imagination, and is revolutionizing the future of medicine.
