Phrasal verbs are verbs combined with prepositions that can change the meaning of the verb. Some phrasal verb meanings are predictable while others are not. Phrasal verbs are categorized as having no object, or having an object that is either separable or inseparable. Separable phrasal verbs allow the verb and preposition to be separated when used with a noun object but require the pronoun object between them. Inseparable phrasal verbs never separate the verb and preposition.
