APPLIANCES OF PESTICIDES
CAN BE DONE BY USING :-
A. DUSTERS
B.SPRAYERS
Mona
DUSTERS: Duster is a machine to
apply chemical in dust form. Dusters
make use of air streams to carry pesticides
in finely divided form on the plants.
Dusters essentially consists of 5 parts
a. Hopper b. Agitator
c. Feed control d. Fan or blower and
e. Delivery nozzle
Mona
TYPES OF DUSTERS
1. MANUALLY OPERATED 2. POWER OPERATED
a. Plunger duster a. Power duster
b. Bellows duster b. Power take off duster
c. Rotary duster c. Traction duster
d. Wet duster
mona
1.MANUALLY OPERATED
A. Plunger duster :These consists of a
air pump of the simple plunger type, a
dust chamber. These are useful for spot
application in restriction areas and for
controlling ants, poultry pests and pest
of farm animals.
Mona
B. BELLOWS DUSTER: On squezzing it
pufs the air that expels the dust in a small
cloud. These are also used for spot
teatment. Capacity 2.5kg-5.0kg.
mona
C. Rotatory dusters: It consists
basically of a blower complete with a
gear box and a hopper. It can be carried
in hand, shoulder mounted and belley
carried type.
mona
2.POWER OPERATED
A. POWER DUSTER : It resembles the
rotatory duster except the power to drive
the blower through the gear box. Power
dusters are manufactured in varieties of
forms.
MONA
B.POWER TAKE OFF DUSTER: They
have a auxiliary engine. They have only one big
metal hose which can be turned to direct dust in
any direction. Airplane dusters have been
successfully used to apply dust to both field
crops and orchards.
mona
C.TRACTION DUSTER: Traction
dusters derive their power from the turning of
the land wheels. There are two types of traction
dusters wheel barrow type and two wheeled
trailer type. Wheel barrow type are used foe
small areas and the other is for large area or
field.
mona
SPRAYERS: Sprayer is a machine to
apply fluids in the form of droplets. It
helps to break the liquids into
droplets for effective size for uniform
application over the plants.
mona
COMPONENTS OF SPRAYER
There are 15 components or parts of sprayers
1. Nozzle body 2. Swrill plate 3.Filter
4. Over flow pipe 5. Releif valve
6. Pressure regulator 7. Cut-off valve
8. Spray boom 9. drop legs
10.Nozzle boss 11. Nozzle disc
12.Nozzle cap 13.Nozzle tip
14.Spray lance 15.Spray Gun
mona
TYPES OF SPRAYERS
1.MANUALLY OPERATED 2.POWER OPERATED
a. HAND SYRINGE a. STRETCHER SPRAYER
b.HAND SPRAYER b.POWER TAKE OFF SPRAYER
c. KNAPSACK SPRAYER c. TRACTION SPRAYER
d. BUCKET SPRAYER d. MIST BLOWER AND SPRAYER
e. ROCKER SPRAYER e. ULTRA LOW VOLUME
SPRAYER
f. FOOT SPRAYER OR PEDAL
PUMP
mona
MANUALLY OPERATED
a . HAND SYRINGE: The hand syringe
is a small, light and compact unit. This is
generally used for spraying small.
MONA
B. HAND SPRAYER: The hand sprayer is
a small, light and compact unit. The capacity
of the container varies from 500 to 1000 ml.
This is generally used for spraying small areas
like kitchen garden and experimental
laboratory plots . It is a hydraulic energy
sprayer.
Deepti Singh
C.KNAPSACK SPRAYER: Any
sprayer which is carried on the back of the
operator is called a knapsack sprayer.
The commonly used manually operated
knapsack sprayer will have one hydraulic
pump working inside the container.
MONA
4. ROCKER SPRAYER: The rocking
sprayer has a pump assembly, fixed on a
wooden platform with an operating lever, a
valve assembly with two ball valves, a
pressure chamber, suction hose with strainer,
and delivery hose with spray lance.
MONA
5.BUCKET SPRAYER: The bucket
sprayer is designed to pump the spray fluid
directly from, the open container, usually a
bucket. The hydraulic pump will be put inside
the bucked and held properly with the help
of foot rest.
MONA
OTHER APPLIANCES
Soil injector: For applying liquid
formulations.
Granule applicator: For applying granule
formulations.
Bird scarer : For driving away birds
Frame thrower: For producing flames.
Seed dressing machine: For coating seeds with
chemicals.
Slurry seed treatment machine: For preparing a
slurry.
MONA
Uses of spraying and dusting
equipments
The spraying and dusting equipments are
used for the following purposes
1. For the insecticides application to control
insect pests on crops and in stores, houses,
kitchen, poultry farms, barns, etc.
2. For the insecticides application to control
insect pests on crops and in stores, houses,
kitchens, poultry farms, barns, etc. For the
acarices application to control phytophagous
mites.
Deepti Singh
3.For the fungicides and bactericides application
to control the plant diseases.
4.For the herbicides application, to kill the weeds.
5. For the harmone sprays application to increase
the fruit set or to prevent the premature dropping
of fruits.
6. For the application of plant nutrients as foliar
spray.
7. For applying the powdery formulation of
poisonous chemicals on the crops and for any
other purposes.
