The Controversy Of Celebrating Christmas
Holidays are overrated. They are days made up by large retailers to prompt you to spend more money
on items that you don t need. Think about it, how much money have you spent on all the decorations
and gifts in your lifetime? If all the holidays ceased to exist, people wouldn t have to fret about
working overtime just to save up for all of the Christmas gifts or if they have enough money to buy
dye for the eggs during Easter (Participial Phrase). Who needs a nine foot tall pine tree in their living
room? What family needs to eat a whole turkey in the matter of hours? (Rhetorical Question)
Celebrating the new year is pointless, the only thing that changes is the date, everything else remains
the same. Many years ago holidays had some sort of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The stress of determining what to dress up as for Halloween, when you could just look like yourself
and not have to put more effort into the way that you look for one night. The stress of buying and
preparing enough food for a Thanksgiving dinner, and how to provide for all of your guests as they
stay with you for a period of time. Or the stress of trying to determine how in the world you are going
to have enough money to purchase all of the gifts for your loved ones, causing you to work more,
decreasing your time to buy these gifts, all leading to even more stress. There is enough stress in a
person s life on a normal day. Adding all of the stress of these pointless holidays can be eliminated if
the holidays are eradicated. Without holidays we would have more days to work, less family bonding
and five day straight work weeks, every week of the year. What more could a person ask for? Stress,
made up characters, lost meanings, excessive spending, are all valid reasons why holidays should be
eliminated from the calendar and from our lives (Asyndeton). With all of the issues created from these
holidays, it s better to cut our ties to them and leave them in the

Modern Day American Political Warfare Examples
Political Warfare Blame, it s a commonly used word used to explain why many of our expectations go
wrong in communities, but the most common group of people oftenly blamed for causing troubles is
politicians. Blaming politicians for a majority of problems often leads to a divided opinion, some may
believe their problems were solved thanks to the politician while others blame politicians for making
their problems worse. Eventually the conflict between opinions leads to violence among a community.
Although both political parties attempt to make their opinion appear as the superior opinion by using
violence and discrimination, it solves absolutely nothing for their cause. The modern day United
States society is an example of political warfare

War I Was No Standard Blueprint For A War Poet
A war poet is a poet in time of and on the subject of war. A substantial number of important poets were
soldiers, writing about their experiences of war. A number of them died on the battlefield, others like
Siegfried Sassoon and Randall Jarrell survived but were scarred by their experiences, and some were
just witnesses to the war like Thomas Hardy, and all of this was reflected in their poetry. Many poems
were British and were published in newspapers and then collected into anthologies. Several of these
early anthologies were published during the war and were very popular, though the tone of the poetry
changed as the war progressed. (Santanu) There was no standard blueprint for a war poet; the War
Poets were from a variety of backgrounds. The whole variety of backgrounds gives a clear idea that
the impact of war in the trenches hit everyone who served there. Forbidden from writing home with
any degree of accuracy or truth about the life they led, some put their thoughts into a diary that could
be kept in secret. Others put their thoughts into poems. Most of these writers came from middle class
backgrounds; many had been to public schools and served as officers at the front. (Truman) Poets that
actually went to the trenches and saw action, the reality appalled them, they were all either wounded
or shell shocked, or both. They wrote powerfully and poignantly about the effects of war on the bodies
and minds of men, the horror and the waste. These poems have largely

A Good Man is Hard to Find is a short story written by Flannery O Connor. O Connor was an
American writer whose writings always incorporated humor into a sad or devastating situation. Her
collections include 31 short stories, two novels, and a couple of letters and speeches. O Connor is
most famous for her short story works. In numerous works of her, her conscious craftsmanship was
revealed and also the devoted role that Roman Catholicism plays in her life (Flannery) O Connor was
born the only child to her parents in Savannah, Georgia. Her father was a real estate agent and her

She reiterates the fact quite a bit through the duration of the story. The Misfit compares himself to
Jesus. As The Misfit previously stated in the story, when he was growing up he was the type of child
who had to know everything and exactly how it functioned and worked. He says that because he can
not know whether Jesus did what people claim for him has made him (the Misfit) like he is. The desire
of the Misfit to know everything and his inability to confirm or deny Jesus story has created an
intractable dilemma that consumes him (Woodiwis).
In the religious drama within the story, the Misfit acts as both Christ and anti Christ figure. He
compares himself to Christ, saying, It was the same case with Him as me, except He hadn t committed
any crime and they could prove I had committed one because they had the papers on me ( ). Even
though the Misfit cannot dedicate himself to either path, he recognizes that there are really only two
alternatives in life: belief and disbelief. Inattention and indifference to faith, the position held by most
of the characters in A Good Man Is Hard to Find and many in O Connor s other stories, are
unacceptable and ultimately untenable responses. There can be no question, however, of O Connor s
intent. The Misfit and his gun create a moment of redemption for the grandmother, albeit against her
will. Despite his amorality, his actions extract from her a recognition born out of

Congressional Term Limits
Congressional terms have no limits. Controversy exists between those who think the terms should be
limited and those who believe that terms should remain unlimited. The group that wants to limit the
terms argues that the change will promote fresh ideas and reduce the possibility of decisions being
made for self interest. Those who oppose term limits believe that we would sacrifice both the stability
and experience held by veteran politicians. They also point out that our election process allows the
voter to limit terms, at their discretion. While experience and stability are important considerations,
congressional terms should be limited to a maximum of two. Change is difficult and requires strong
support from the voters to start the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, statistics show that currently there is a ninety four percent re election rate in the House and
eighty three percent in the Senate. Because of name recognition and the advantage of money, it can be
easy to stay in office. Representative John Dingell, Jr. of Michigan is an example of a long serving
politician. He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in the House of
Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has the experience.
However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in his career. More
than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that we witnessed prior to
the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no effective campaign
competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate competition, there are not
a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public. Furthermore, it is almost impossible
for the average citizen to try to campaign against current members of Congress. 3 Finally, the
argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the Constitution currently reads. However,
with the appropriate congressional and voter approval percentages, the term limits for these
representatives could become law.

Jazz Music Race And Culture In Urban America
As Jazz grew out of blues and slave music to become independently popular in the 1940 s and 50 s, it
also facilitated a conversation about racial equality and black peoples place in American society. Jazz
was recognized by many as black people music due to its roots in slave music and the blues. This
controversy not only brought jazz to the attention of a larger audience, but also, gave it cultural
relevance as music that acted as resistance music and, alternately, brought the warring skin colors
together in harmony. Without the political air that surrounded jazz, the genre would not have carried
the same musical or social influence, as many white people loved the music, but did not necessarily
love the people making it; this is exemplified by the music itself and described in the writings of many
prominent jazz scholars. Jazz music began in the Deep South as the product of African American
discrimination and struggle, and was able to develop due to their eventual independence after the Civil
War. For a long time, blacks weren t being recognized. Their talents and capacities were debased,
devalued and degraded (West 501). Peretti s novel, The Creation of Jazz: Music, Race, and Culture in
Urban America, discusses the racial and cultural dynamics of jazz music. He argues that it is possible
to gain an understanding of jazz by examining the social changes that occurred as a result of the genre
s development. Peretti addresses the controversial belief that jazz is more

Roman Corinthian Temples
The Roman Corinthian temples were a testament to the construction techniques and its architecture
was heavily influenced by the Etruscans. Romans worshipped several deities and thus temples served
as a place of high importance which was adorned with reliefs and sculptures. A typical Roman temple,
for example, Temple of Augustus and Roma consisted of a cella housing the main deity and
approached through a colonnaded portico (pronaos) by means of a flight of stairs. The temples were
constructed with the help of concrete and oriented themselves to face east towards the rising sun and
entered through the west. The column order seen in the Roman Corinthian temples was inspired by the
Greek architecture. Vitruvius, the Roman architect likened the

Cyber Defense Concerns On Global Security
Cyber Defense Concerns in Global Security
The cyber domain crosses both physical and logical borders across the globe. No longer is every
aspect of a domain clearly part of a single nation. Occurrences within cyberspace has far reaching
effects. 15 million T Mobile customer s data stolen via Experian server compromise, massive
cyberattacks on Estonia and Georgia networks (2007 and 2008 respectively), and over $1 trillion
reportedly lost due to cybercrime. These are just a few concerns facing global and state level security
demonstrating significant concern and requirement for action. Criminal syndicates as well as other
non state and state actors use cyberspace to conduct illegal activities. In this, a common core of
countries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final concern facing global and national security is state sponsored activities. These three
concerns are the leading factors for cyber defense in global security.
Cybercrime is on the rise across the globe as criminal organizations and likeminded actors gain easy
access to skilled professionals and/or affordable commercial/free software. This type of crime is
alluring and extremely lucrative due to low physical risk and very high rewards (Heickero, 2013).
Another aspect of cybercrime is the theft of Intellectual Property (IP) and trade secrets. A great
example of the theft of IP and impact is the study of CISCO versus Huawei routers and the growing
takeover by China due to IP/Trade secret gains (Demchak, 2011). Though, the severity of IP is
difficult to articulate due to the various intangible losses. A McAfee study shows that such crime plays
a significant factor in trade balances, national income, and jobs which drastically impacts economic
security (McAfee, 2014).
States must also deal with cyber espionage, which is one of the most aggressive activities in
cyberspace. Cyber espionage relates to both cybercrime and cyber warfare. Similar to the criminal
theft of IP and trade secrets, cyber espionage is illicit access to confidential information held by
government or other organizations. Such gains are used to support political, religious, commercial, or

Toilet Training
There are some of the things that make potty training hard for kids with autism spectrum disorder and
one of the biggest, or most obvious, is the fact that many kids with ASD are more broadly
developmentally delayed and it certainly interferes with their learning in all domains, but there are
things that are more specific to ASD, such as communication difficulties. It is difficult to tell someone
that one needs to go potty if one is having trouble communicating (Kiddoo et al. 2006) and it is also
difficult for us to communicate to the child with autism what the importance of going potty is or what
they are supposed to do. Another thing is sensory issues and there is a lot of sensory stimulation and
input around the toileting routine. Some of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book is a well researched supported intervention because it is very structured, straightforward, all
the procedures are laid out, and it is easy to take data and track progress. There are different
components in the toilet training procedure. First, we start off with having the child not wear diapers
anymore and transitioning them into underwear (Cocchiola, Martino, Dwyer, Demezzo, 2012). We
then put the child on a toileting schedule, so setting up a routine where every 20 or 40 minutes we are
taking the child to the toilet. Next, we increase their fluid intake by which the child will go to the
bathroom frequently (Cocchiola et al. 2012) and can practice what they are supposed to do and the
learning will increase as well. Furthermore, by increasing the fluid intake we are increasing the
probability that the child is going to go to the bathroom in the toilet and we are increasing the
probability that we are going to have a coincidence, so when we put the child on the toilet every 20
minutes, one of those times the child is finally going to go. Thus, giving us the desired behavior and
this is difficult because this is a behavior that we cannot prompt and we have to wait for it to happen at
the right time and then reinforce the child for it. So, we are trying to essentially create a lot of
probability that the child is going to go in the toilet when we take them and then reinforce them for it,
so a little bit of learning traction can happen. Additionally, there is a dry pants check where it is a
procedure where we check the child s pants in between their trips to the toilet and if the pants are dry
then we praise them for it, so that they have the idea that staying dry is the right

Not Without My Daughter Betty Mahmoody
Not Without My Daughter was an amazing novel by Betty Mahmoody, and was turned into a
phenomenal film. This film revolves around many ideas and themes, but education was an underlying

women in Iran have little rights and therefore Betty could not leave without her husband s permission.
Since, he wanted them to stay, and was dominant, Betty had to find a way to escape with Mahtob.

The Pros And Cons Of Fairtrade
Imagine your a coffee farmer from Columbia, you love your plants and fields. You have spent
virtually your whole life tilling and caring for everything encompassed by your farm. However when
you go to sell your beans, that love you put into your work doesn t translate to good pay. In fact your
paid so low for your product that you have to choose between taking care of your family or taking care
of your crop for next year. Now implant FairTrade into the mix and you will see a happy farmer
getting paid higher prices. Over the course of this paper we will be discussing FairTrade. What it is
and how it works while also covering negatives and positives to the FairTrade experience, starting
with. So what is FairTrade and how does it work? FairTrade started out as the Alternative Trade
Organization back in the 1950s. Essentially they worked to cut out the middle man which meant more
money to the farmer. (Lamb, 2016) The problem is farmers sell their product to one buyer who then
sells it to another, this process loops numerous times until our coffee bean is ground and poured into a
mug. This means the farmer is forced to pay by taking a very small sales price.
Now over the course of time the Alternative Trade Organization began to morph and change first
adapting a label to identify FairTrade products. But also requiring an entity to certify and ... Show

listed as organic and not really being so, child labor would go against everything FairTrade stands

This business model has helped the company identify its target market and market segmentation.
Operating as a low cost carrier means the company is seeking to serve cost and value conscious
consumers, small business executives, and customers who are traveling short distances and prefer a
low cost fare. This is the first segment of its target market. The second segment includes families who
are value conscious, and senior citizens. Demographic Segmentation The target demographic for
Southwest is very broad. The fact the airline has a brand that appeals to price conscious travelers who
do not mind the airline s no frills philosophy means it attracts lots of small business owners, young
adults, middle class families, and those who are traveling a short distance. Southwest operates a
simplified airline to keep costs down. It only operates one type of aircraft, and its no frills plan
includes no assigned seats or class seating, no meals, and no onboard movies. The company has a
strong emphasis on customer service and a differentiation strategy to keep customers happy and loyal.
When hiring for customer service positions within the organization, Southwest focuses on attitudes
rather than skills and encourages peer hiring. This strategy helps the company identify those who fit

She speaks passionately about it and when members complain about ritual, Rachel explains that it is a

and disadvantages that need to be weighed for each option.
The first option is a full market coverage option and is intended on capitalizing on the broad appeal of
the network; the something for everyone model. The major question that comes up under this option is
whether a differentiated or undifferentiated approach would be used for targeting the various groups in
the target demographic. While more expensive a differentiate approach could do more to garner
widespread appeal in that each cluster within the age demographic would be given different offering
that would appeal to their various sensibilities. For example, a show about upscale thrift store
shopping could be developed to speak to value driven Situationalists. Unfortunately, based on the
information provided, Wheeler looks to implement a more undifferentiated approach. While either
approach is likely to increase ratings for TFC, the undifferentiated approach is likely to erode CPM as
the qualitative value of the viewer is decreased by the addition of less fashion savvy viewers.

Child Sexual Abuse Essay
Child Sexual Abuse
Sexual abuse to a child at times is confusing to the family. Families who are affected by sexual abuse
to a child tend to have a difficult time talking about the abuse. About one out of every four girls and
one out of every five boys are sexually abused by the time they are 18 years old. Sexual abuse to
children happens across every socioeconomic status, ethnic, cultural, religion and education. Getting
treatment for a victim of child sexual abuse is a difficult process because of the lack of trust by the
child. When child sexual abuse occurs the victim s family has a difficult time talking about the abuse,
which leads to the family pretending the abuse never happened. Once the family ... Show more

Children are the most vulnerable to sexual abuse, and there are risk factors to consider that would
make one child more of a target compared to another child. The three risk factors that are related to
sexual abuse are: 1) the age of the child, 2) socioeconomic status and 3) how well the child knows
his/her abuser. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how
many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual
abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Children between the ages of three to five
years old are considered to be the most vulnerable to be a victim of sexual abuse. Children need to
have supervision at all times, especially during times like changing clothes and bathing. If
unsupervised, this can open the door for sexual abuse by the relatives, babysitters, etc. The second risk
factor is the socioeconomic status; the offender will notice the child isn t getting any attention from
the family and will manipulate the situation with the child. The perpetrator will offer to buy the child
things that the family can t buy for the child, listening to the child s problems and gain their trust. The
level of education plays a role, if the child is raised by a single parent and/or if the parents have
marital problems. Once trust is established this is when the perpetrator will sexually abuse a child.
Lastly, the final part is how well the

Computers Medical Offices Anyone who has either worked in the healthcare field or who have made a
visit to a medical facility for patient care have likely seen or experience the advancement of
technology for healthcare operations and patient care delivery. A testament to this fact is the use of
computers in medical offices usage encompasses the front and back office operations. Two examples,
of how medical staff uses computers is for registering patients and entering diagnostic results such as
lab test(Colorado Technical University, 2017). Electronic Health Records (EHR) One of the most
transcending advances that technology has allotted the healthcare field is the use of Electronic Health
Records (EHR). Simply stated, EHRs are a contemporary approach to storing patient s information by
exchanging paper for technology (Colorado Technical University, 2017; HealthIT, 2017). Among the
information that found in E H R s include Administrative and billing data; Patient demographics;
Progress notes; Vital signs; Medical histories; Diagnoses Medications; Immunization dates; Allergies;
Radiology images; and Lab and test result (HealthIT, 2017). Thus, the ramifications for inaccurate

World War 1 Alliance System Essay
World War One was a devastating war, killing millions between the years 1914 and 1918. It is to a
considerable extent that the alliance system was the main cause of World War One as it dramatically
turned a conflict from being regional to global, resulting in a World War. Similarly, the blank cheque
supplied Austria Hungary with the confidence needed for them to declare war. Other factors such as
nationalism were partly responsible as this caused Archduke Franz Ferdinand to be assassinated, and
begin the July Crisis.
It is to a considerable extent that the alliance system was the main cause of World War One as it
dramatically turned a conflict from being regional to global, resulting in a World War. Originally, the
feud started with two opposing countries, which had been brewing for years. When the July Crisis

Huck Finn
Huckleberry Finn is a young boy who struggles with complex issues such as empathy, guilt, fear, and
morality in Mark Twain s Adventures of Huckleberry Finn . There are two different sides to Huck.
One is the subordinate, easily influenced boy whom he becomes when under the guide of Tom
Sawyer. His other persona surfaces when he is on his own, thinking of his friendship with Jim and
agonizing over which to trust: his heart or his conscience. When Huck s ongoing inner struggle with
his own duality forces him to makes difficult and controversial choices, the reader sees a boy in the
throes of moral development. And it is, indeed, a struggle. Although Huck believes in the rules of the
harshly racist society in which he lives, a deeper and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This scene lets the reader have a peek at Huck s morality and sound heart. The next trick Huck plays
on Jim creates a lot of genuine fear and tension for Jim. It is right after Huck and Jim have gotten lost
in the fog and Huck finds and climbs onto the raft while Jim is sleeping. Jim is so relieved to find
Huck back safe and sound that he hugs and squeezes him for a long time until Huck tells him that they
were never separated. Jim believes this until he sees the evidence that they were, and then he
reprimands Huck.
Nonetheless, Huck feels terrible and says, It was fifteen minutes before I could work myself up to go
and humble myself to a nigger but I done it, and I warn t ever sorry for it afterwards, neither. This is
the first time that Huck ever apologizes to or shows empathy towards Jim. In his previous tricks, he
either didn t care at all, or just felt guilty, but here he shows that he is actually concerned about Jim s
feelings. This progression in Huck shows that his morals are developing along with his friendship with
Jim.
As Huck and Jim s friendship develops, so does Huck s empathy for Jim. When Huck encounters the
two men on the river who ask if Huck s friend is white or black, Huck silently struggles between
following his conscience by turning Jim in, or trusting his loyal heart. Huck knows what will happen
to Jim if he turns him in.

Fahrenheit 451 Week 1 Lesson Learned
This week in school I learned about mutations. Mutations are the changing of the structure of a gene,
resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, Caused by the alteration
of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or
chromosomes. The most important thing I learned about this week is that if it was not for mutations
we would not be able to survive up to this date. The assignment that I spent the most time on was
studying for my test that the entire ninth grade took. I can tell i am learning because i really

Our Ethnography Research is how student s religious views affect their political views from a
standpoint of three different religions. Since we live in a college town, we decided the appropriate
demographic should be a college student between the age of 18 and 21. I got to interview a close

Seventh Day Adventist, which is a smaller branch of Christianity and as a Democrat. I got to ask him
many questions that one would not usually get asked, which made the interview fairly difficult, but I
got to meet an entirely new friend.
The first question is, What do you feel shapes your view on pro choice / pro life? His response was
pro life because of his religion. Danny believes that he is pro life because his parents raised him to
accept every blessing as a gift from God. Along with that he reckons that a parent that aborts their
child should receive a considerable punishment. If the parents do not want to keep the child they

Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an intensely dark comedy
that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their low self esteem, as they struggle to
survive in a contrived culture to which neither will ever really belong.
John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost humanity is
haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is not altogether stable. The smog,
traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern California were already present in 1939, making
this story relevant still today. The earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today,
complete with military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster.
Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A. culture, but all are
profoundly human in their suffering, confusion, and vices. All are battling a poor sense of self worth

Tap Film Analysis

HIST1042
June 22nd 2017
Assignment #4 Topic 1
By 1984 Rock and Roll music was going through a changing phase. From break ups, tragic deaths due
to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and overly
loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It
seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this
environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in.
This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named
Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reiner as he
interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album, Smell
My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band.
From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery,
sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them back.
The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including Yes,
Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and
society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols,
often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Case Study Essay

The condition began fifteen months ago with a left foot drop and within a year, he described difficulty
with speech and swallowing, muscle twitching and cramping, and muscular atrophy throughout the
upper and lower limbs. Within the last two months, his breathing has become more difficult, and there
has been a noticeable difference in his voice. Prior to the fifteen months, he presented little to no

Typically, the muscle weakness will affect a limb, and nasal or slurred speech will soon develop. If the
patient is limb onset ALS, the symptoms will first occur in the arms and legs. They may have
difficulty with dexterous tasks such as writing or opening a door. If the lower limbs are affected, they
may notice trouble walking and experience tripping or stumbling. Dropped foot, as demonstrated in
the above case study, can also develop from muscle weakness and can cause the individual to drag his
or her foot. Limb onset ALS is more typical than all other types, occurring in about 75% of diagnosed
individuals. The other 25% may present symptoms described as bulbar onset ALS. These patients may
first notice difficulty with proper speech and swallowing. Patients will often lose their voice and have
difficulty forming words, caused by a loss of tongue mobility. In rare cases, patients might
demonstrate respiratory onset ALS where the intercostal muscles are compromised first. Regardless of
which occur first, affected individuals will generally experience most of the symptoms as the disease
progresses. Specifically, symptoms that include difficulty swallowing, moving, forming words, tight
muscles, spasticity, and/or exaggerated reflexes occur when the upper motor neurons have been
damaged. When lower motor neurons are damaged, symptoms such as muscle weakness, atrophy,
cramping, and twitching will occur. In some cases, a few of the muscle neurons that

Old Spice Advertisements
Appealing to an audience s deep personal emotions plays an important role in advertisement. Many
exaggerated emotions can easily persuade the viewer to believe them and search for a way to escape
or solve that present emotion. Insecurity is prominent in almost all the newest advertisements. Giving
in to society s expectations to beauty, commercials direct themselves to make the viewer feel bad
about their image. Trying to instill anxiety or a lack of confidence can compel the viewer to buy their

Doing so utilizes the common desires of women to pursue their own argument with their partners into

The Accusing Angel In John Steinbeck s The Book Of Job
The Book of Job tells the story of a man who is a servant of God, perfect in integrity, who fears God
and avoids evil. (Pg.6). The story centers on the profound suffering Job faces when an Accusing Angel
decides to challenge Job s faith in God (pg. 6). As Job is tested the following questions have risen
from its readers. Is Job patient? Is he impatient? Some people read The Book of Job and think it tells
the story of an incredibly patient man, who withstands immense trials and yet never experiences
aggravation with the test God allows to fall upon him. Others see Job as impatient; because he
expresses frustration with the trials he is given and cries out to God to end his life (pgs. 8, 13, 21, 48,

Job is tested for his faith, trust, and love for God (pg. 6). The Accusing Angel is focused on proving
God wrong, on making Job lose faith (pg.6). Job is called a great follower of God, by God Himself
and the Accusing Angel clearly does not like that God has shown so much favor on Job (pg. 6). The
test that Job is given by the Accusing Angel, and allowed to be given by God, challenges Job s
relationship with God to see if it is a legitimate relationship or not. As humans we know that every
relationship is tested at some point or another, whether it be a friendship, a relationship with a family
member, or a relationship with a significant other. When relationships are challenged they fall apart or
make it through the struggle, this is how we know if a relationship with our loved one is strong and
durable or if it is shallow and weak. God and Job have a relationship; God says that they do on page 6
when He references Job as one of his servants. As Job is tested, so is his relationship with God, does
he truly love and trust God to be able to make it through the struggle? On page 33 Job makes it clear
that Only God is wise and he will do his part and stay faithful to God in the trial so that they can still
have a relationship. Job does not know why God allows for this test to fall upon him and cause the
potential destruction of their relationship, but he believes that God is doing what needs to be done,
whether he understands it or not and whether he agrees with it or not (pg. 27,

The Masters Of Social Work Program
Going into the Masters of Social Work program, I thought I had an idea of what I was going to do and

Reflecting back from when I first started this program, I have changed a lot in many aspects of myself.

Essay on The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental...
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) has a number of features. First of
all, every disorder is identified using a name and a numerical code. In addition, the manual provides
the criteria for diagnosing each disorder as well as establishes subtypes of a disorder and examples
that would illustrate the disorder. The manual goes further by addressing the typical age of onset,
culturally related information, gender related information, prevalence of a disorder, typical clinical
course of a disorder, typical predisposing factors of a disorder and genetic family patterns of a disease
(Summers, 2009). The DSM IV is a tool that is used by mental health practitioners and social service
workers. As has been demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Personality disorders have a sex prevalence rate and there has been some suggestion that those rates
reflect gender bias. The bias concerns derived from the conceptualization of personality disorders, the
wording of diagnostic criteria, the application of diagnostic criteria, thresholds for diagnosis, clinical
presentation, researching sampling, the self awareness and openness of patients and the items included
within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009, p. 356). Studies have failed to prove that there is
significant gender bias in the DSM. However, research has showed there is gender bias within clinical
judgments. For example, gender related items would be included within self report inventories
(Butcher, 2009). Clinicians tend to judge female patients as being mentally ill more readily than male
patients, even when the symptoms are the same. Moreover, women are more likely to be cast as overly
emotional, have a need for mood altering medication and require ongoing monitoring/treatment (Zur
and Nordmarken, 2010).
Sexual orientation has also caused considerable bias. Homosexuality was listed in the DSM as a
mental disorder up until 1974. Even law had identified homosexual behavior as criminal; for instance,
sodomy laws. Although homosexuality is no longer listed in the DSM, therapists still have the option
of considering homosexual behavior as a sexual disorder not otherwise specified. The ability to still
classify homosexuality as a

Similarities And Differences Between Romeo And Juliet And...
The memorable novel Romeo and Juliet, authored by the brilliancy of William Shakespeare clashes
with the theatrical film West Side Story, written by Arthur Laurents . When the two films compare it s
evident that both share a variety of similarities. To the extent of storylines, characters and importantly
themes. The main themes that interacts between the two worlds are Love and Conflict which is
illustrated amongst that characters as they mature along the story. To roughly summarise both story
plots, there are two equally match gangs in constant war displayed in the public s eye, as both gangs
start to make things heated, police intervene and trying to stop the compiling complaints they decide
to throw a party to cool down the controversy. Both gangs end up dancing on the de same dance floor,
accepting the fact just to leave each other alone and enjoy the dance. But by faith these cross star
lovers cross paths and fall in love. But by the bad history between their gangs conflict rises and tries to
conquer their love. So essentially the focus is how both themes Love and Conflict converge within the
both worlds of R J and WSS. First we analyse the story between Romeo And Juliet displaying the act
of love. Two main gangs being The Montagues Capulets. At first we see the Montague boys and
Mercrutio getting ready to crash the massive party that the Capulets are throwing. Whilst slipping into

Copyright Law 1988 automatically applies whenever an individual undertakes any following work

In all cases, individual national laws can, and often will, allow additional protection over and above
the terms of the Convention. For example, in the UK most work is protected for the life of the author
plus 70 years. There are also exceptions allowed for countries bound by the Rome Act.
When the term of copyright protection has expired, the work falls into the public domain. This means
that the work, has effectively become public property and may be used freely. This is how so many
companies can publish works by William Shakespeare, classical composers etc.
The full title is the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works. It was first
adopted in 1886 as an agreement to honour the rights of all authors who are nationals of countries that
are party to the convention. The current version of the convention is the Paris Act of 1971. The

Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen R. Covey
Summary of Main Points in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
This book on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was written in 1989, is still a great book today.
Stephen R. Covey talked about great habits that we need to encrypt in our daily living to be effective
at work, home and as a person. He explained how the habits is based on developing our independence.
The first habit he talked about was being proactive in our lives. To be proactive we need to have self
awareness of our actions. We need to take responsibility for the choices we make and take responsible
for those choices.
Second habit is to begin with the end in mind. This is where you develop a vision of what you want to
become and our conscience will decide what values will guide you and everything that you do should
have an end.
Third habit is to put first things first. This is where we need to have discipline to our day so we make
sure that we focus on what is the most important to the least important. This is where our will power
will come into effect so we don t act on our desires or impulses.
Habit four is the win win thought process. To be successful you need to look at the problem between
you and the other party and approach it with a mutual solution. To do this it requires understanding
and being understood. This way everyone can be satisfied with the outcome of the solution.
The fifth habit was, seek first to understand them to understood. One important skill that we need to
use is our listening

Life Events And Stress, Stressors And Frustration
Boot Camp Days Finally, it has come, the final paper! Although I will miss all the great things we
learn about in class every week, I will not miss having to think of information to type in these papers.
This week the topics I have chosen to discuss are; life events and stress, stressors and frustration. The
best way I can relate to these topics is by talking about my personal experiences at Navy Boot Camp.
The worst eight and a half weeks of my life.
The Good Beginning
My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago, destination Great Lakes,
to become a sailor. At the airport, I was full of many different thoughts and emotions, being excited,
but scared of what was to come.
Arriving at the Chicago O Hare airport we were met by a group of Petty Officers who were a lot nicer
than I thought they would be. Before we left the airport, we had to throw out anything we were not
supposed to have, lip balm, lotions, soaps, we couldn t even keep our toothbrushes. That was fine, at
least I wasn t getting yelled at. Then we loaded up onto a bus and headed to the base.
The Start of the Worst Arriving on base, we pulled up to a building and quickly loaded off the bus and
filed in one by one. There were three different people all yelling different directions. Sadly, the Petty
Officers who picked us up from the airport, were not Recruit Division Commanders (RDC). My hope
of everything continuing to go well was shot down very quickly. Just being there five

similar condition. Treat the patient individually and as he/she clinically presents.

The Atkins Diet
Benefits From The Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet is probably the most talked about diet regimen ever, perhaps for its controversial style
of dieting that goes against conventional dieting wisdom. Despite this reputation, more and more
people still try to follow the Atkins Diet. Notwithstanding its radical dieting methods, it is a fairly
effective dieting plan and achieves what it preaches. The Atkins Diet has its first beginnings during the
early 70 s when it was introduced by Dr. Robert Atkins. He was looking for an effective dieting
method that would help him with his own weight problem. He had tried other low calorie diets but to

That paved the way for the Atkins Diet to finally be known around the world. The Atkins Diet has
changed a little bit since it first made its way into the public arena. It is a low carbohydrate, high
protein and fat diet that is a more favorable alternative to a low calorie diet. With the Atkins Diet, one
does not have to count calorie intake. One can eat as often as he wants to and as many as he wants to
as long as he stays clear of carbohydrates and sugar. A lot of health benefits await a person about to go
on the Atkins Diet. The weight loss that happens while on the Atkins Diet may have favorable results
overall since the body has transferred from burning carbohydrates to burning fats in the body as its
primary energy source. The low carbohydrate diet also lowers the insulin production of the body and
therefore may help in preventing diseases like diabetes. The high protein intake that comes with the
Atkins diet can also reduce one s craving for food, so appetite can easily be controlled. The protein
rich as well as high fat foods that one consumes with the Atkins Diet are more satisfying and more
filling that the dieter would not have to feel that he is being starved. Those are just some of the
benefits

  • 2. The Controversy Of Celebrating Christmas Holidays are overrated. They are days made up by large retailers to prompt you to spend more money on items that you don t need. Think about it, how much money have you spent on all the decorations and gifts in your lifetime? If all the holidays ceased to exist, people wouldn t have to fret about working overtime just to save up for all of the Christmas gifts or if they have enough money to buy dye for the eggs during Easter (Participial Phrase). Who needs a nine foot tall pine tree in their living room? What family needs to eat a whole turkey in the matter of hours? (Rhetorical Question) Celebrating the new year is pointless, the only thing that changes is the date, everything else remains the same. Many years ago holidays had some sort of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The stress of determining what to dress up as for Halloween, when you could just look like yourself and not have to put more effort into the way that you look for one night. The stress of buying and preparing enough food for a Thanksgiving dinner, and how to provide for all of your guests as they stay with you for a period of time. Or the stress of trying to determine how in the world you are going to have enough money to purchase all of the gifts for your loved ones, causing you to work more, decreasing your time to buy these gifts, all leading to even more stress. There is enough stress in a person s life on a normal day. Adding all of the stress of these pointless holidays can be eliminated if the holidays are eradicated. Without holidays we would have more days to work, less family bonding and five day straight work weeks, every week of the year. What more could a person ask for? Stress, made up characters, lost meanings, excessive spending, are all valid reasons why holidays should be eliminated from the calendar and from our lives (Asyndeton). With all of the issues created from these holidays, it s better to cut our ties to them and leave them in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Modern Day American Political Warfare Examples Political Warfare Blame, it s a commonly used word used to explain why many of our expectations go wrong in communities, but the most common group of people oftenly blamed for causing troubles is politicians. Blaming politicians for a majority of problems often leads to a divided opinion, some may believe their problems were solved thanks to the politician while others blame politicians for making their problems worse. Eventually the conflict between opinions leads to violence among a community. Although both political parties attempt to make their opinion appear as the superior opinion by using violence and discrimination, it solves absolutely nothing for their cause. The modern day United States society is an example of political warfare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. War I Was No Standard Blueprint For A War Poet A war poet is a poet in time of and on the subject of war. A substantial number of important poets were soldiers, writing about their experiences of war. A number of them died on the battlefield, others like Siegfried Sassoon and Randall Jarrell survived but were scarred by their experiences, and some were just witnesses to the war like Thomas Hardy, and all of this was reflected in their poetry. Many poems were British and were published in newspapers and then collected into anthologies. Several of these early anthologies were published during the war and were very popular, though the tone of the poetry changed as the war progressed. (Santanu) There was no standard blueprint for a war poet; the War Poets were from a variety of backgrounds. The whole variety of backgrounds gives a clear idea that the impact of war in the trenches hit everyone who served there. Forbidden from writing home with any degree of accuracy or truth about the life they led, some put their thoughts into a diary that could be kept in secret. Others put their thoughts into poems. Most of these writers came from middle class backgrounds; many had been to public schools and served as officers at the front. (Truman) Poets that actually went to the trenches and saw action, the reality appalled them, they were all either wounded or shell shocked, or both. They wrote powerfully and poignantly about the effects of war on the bodies and minds of men, the horror and the waste. These poems have largely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Author s Character in A Good Man is Hard to Find by... A Good Man is Hard to Find is a short story written by Flannery O Connor. O Connor was an American writer whose writings always incorporated humor into a sad or devastating situation. Her collections include 31 short stories, two novels, and a couple of letters and speeches. O Connor is most famous for her short story works. In numerous works of her, her conscious craftsmanship was revealed and also the devoted role that Roman Catholicism plays in her life (Flannery) O Connor was born the only child to her parents in Savannah, Georgia. Her father was a real estate agent and her mother was born into a very prominent family. When O Connor was twelve years old, her family moved back to her mothers hometown of Milledgeville, GA where ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She reiterates the fact quite a bit through the duration of the story. The Misfit compares himself to Jesus. As The Misfit previously stated in the story, when he was growing up he was the type of child who had to know everything and exactly how it functioned and worked. He says that because he can not know whether Jesus did what people claim for him has made him (the Misfit) like he is. The desire of the Misfit to know everything and his inability to confirm or deny Jesus story has created an intractable dilemma that consumes him (Woodiwis). In the religious drama within the story, the Misfit acts as both Christ and anti Christ figure. He compares himself to Christ, saying, It was the same case with Him as me, except He hadn t committed any crime and they could prove I had committed one because they had the papers on me ( ). Even though the Misfit cannot dedicate himself to either path, he recognizes that there are really only two alternatives in life: belief and disbelief. Inattention and indifference to faith, the position held by most of the characters in A Good Man Is Hard to Find and many in O Connor s other stories, are unacceptable and ultimately untenable responses. The group that wants to limit the terms argues that the change will promote fresh ideas and reduce the possibility of decisions being made for self interest. Those who oppose term limits believe that we would sacrifice both the stability and experience held by veteran politicians. They also point out that our election process allows the voter to limit terms, at their discretion. He is now eighty seven years of age and has been serving continuously in the House of Representatives for more than fifty seven years. Obviously, Representative Dingell has the experience. However, age may have impaired some of the effectiveness he exhibited earlier in his career. More than likely, he would not have the stamina required for the non stop debates that we witnessed prior to the recent government shut down. Representative Dingell certainly has had no effective campaign competition during his almost fifty eight years in office. Without legitimate competition, there are not a lot of incentives for a member of Congress to serve the public. Furthermore, it is almost impossible for the average citizen to try to campaign against current members of Congress. 3 Finally, the argument that term limits are unconstitutional is valid as the Constitution currently reads. • 7. Jazz Music Race And Culture In Urban America As Jazz grew out of blues and slave music to become independently popular in the 1940 s and 50 s, it also facilitated a conversation about racial equality and black peoples place in American society. Jazz was recognized by many as black people music due to its roots in slave music and the blues. This controversy not only brought jazz to the attention of a larger audience, but also, gave it cultural relevance as music that acted as resistance music and, alternately, brought the warring skin colors together in harmony. Without the political air that surrounded jazz, the genre would not have carried the same musical or social influence, as many white people loved the music, but did not necessarily love the people making it; this is exemplified by the music itself and described in the writings of many prominent jazz scholars. Jazz music began in the Deep South as the product of African American discrimination and struggle, and was able to develop due to their eventual independence after the Civil War. For a long time, blacks weren t being recognized. Their talents and capacities were debased, devalued and degraded (West 501). Peretti s novel, The Creation of Jazz: Music, Race, and Culture in Urban America, discusses the racial and cultural dynamics of jazz music. He argues that it is possible to gain an understanding of jazz by examining the social changes that occurred as a result of the genre s development. The final concern facing global and national security is state sponsored activities. These three concerns are the leading factors for cyber defense in global security. Cybercrime is on the rise across the globe as criminal organizations and likeminded actors gain easy access to skilled professionals and/or affordable commercial/free software. This type of crime is alluring and extremely lucrative due to low physical risk and very high rewards (Heickero, 2013). Another aspect of cybercrime is the theft of Intellectual Property (IP) and trade secrets. A great example of the theft of IP and impact is the study of CISCO versus Huawei routers and the growing takeover by China due to IP/Trade secret gains (Demchak, 2011). Though, the severity of IP is difficult to articulate due to the various intangible losses. A McAfee study shows that such crime plays a significant factor in trade balances, national income, and jobs which drastically impacts economic security (McAfee, 2014). States must also deal with cyber espionage, which is one of the most aggressive activities in cyberspace. Cyber espionage relates to both cybercrime and cyber warfare. The book is a well researched supported intervention because it is very structured, straightforward, all the procedures are laid out, and it is easy to take data and track progress. There are different components in the toilet training procedure. First, we start off with having the child not wear diapers anymore and transitioning them into underwear (Cocchiola, Martino, Dwyer, Demezzo, 2012). We then put the child on a toileting schedule, so setting up a routine where every 20 or 40 minutes we are taking the child to the toilet. Next, we increase their fluid intake by which the child will go to the bathroom frequently (Cocchiola et al. 2012) and can practice what they are supposed to do and the learning will increase as well. Furthermore, by increasing the fluid intake we are increasing the probability that the child is going to go to the bathroom in the toilet and we are increasing the probability that we are going to have a coincidence, so when we put the child on the toilet every 20 minutes, one of those times the child is finally going to go. Thus, giving us the desired behavior and this is difficult because this is a behavior that we cannot prompt and we have to wait for it to happen at the right time and then reinforce the child for it. So, we are trying to essentially create a lot of probability that the child is going to go in the toilet when we take them and then reinforce them for it, so a little bit of learning traction can happen. Child abuse is reported about 80,000 times per year, but the most alarming fact is how many reports of child abuse goes unreported due to the child being afraid to talk about the sexual abuse, and they do not want to get their offender in trouble. Mutations are the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, Caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or chromosomes. The most important thing I learned about this week is that if it was not for mutations we would not be able to survive up to this date. Since we live in a college town, we decided the appropriate demographic should be a college student between the age of 18 and 21. I got to interview a close friend of mine, Danny. Danny is a sophomore at Oregon State University and he describes himself as a Seventh Day Adventist, which is a smaller branch of Christianity and as a Democrat. I got to ask him many questions that one would not usually get asked, which made the interview fairly difficult, but I got to meet an entirely new friend. The first question is, What do you feel shapes your view on pro choice / pro life? His response was pro life because of his religion. Danny believes that he is pro life because his parents raised him to accept every blessing as a gift from God. Along with that he reckons that a parent that aborts their child should receive a considerable punishment. Their mutual love and hatred for one another, and for themselves, provides an intensely dark comedy that exposes their inner conflicts, their racial bigotry and their low self esteem, as they struggle to survive in a contrived culture to which neither will ever really belong. John Fante s description of Los Angeles during the depression of gaunt faces and lost humanity is haunting and riveting, as told through the eyes of a young man who is not altogether stable. The smog, traffic, dust, grime and shallow lifestyles of southern California were already present in 1939, making this story relevant still today. The earthquake scene in the story is just as realistic as it might be today, complete with military intervention and the emergence of human kindness in the face of disaster. Camilla, Arturo, Sammy, Vera and Hellfrick are all non entities in the bustle of L.A. culture, but all are profoundly human in their suffering, confusion, and vices. All are battling a poor sense of self worth and struggling to survive in an indifferent world. Arturo Bandini takes us through this story in intimate first person, exposing us to his mood swings, his astute observations and his growth as an author and a man. In the Alta Loma Hotel in the Bunker Hill district of Los Angeles, writer Arturo Bandini s hotel room window opens onto the ground level, a smog and sand choked base of a palm tree as his view. From break ups, tragic deaths due to drugs and dangerous lifestyles, unnecessarily long and obnoxious solo performances, and overly loud and unnecessary amps that almost sounded like they were going all the way to 11 instead of 10. It seemed that Rock and Roll was dying out or becoming oversaturated as a musical genre. It is in this environment that the movie This is Spinal Tap bases itself in. This is Spinal Tap is a 1984 mock documentary or mockumentary about a fictitious band named Spinal Tap. The movie is told from the interviewing perspective of director Rob Reiner as he interviews and follows the British band for their United States concert tour for their new album, Smell My Glove . Throughout the film and tour, almost everything seems to be going wrong for the band. From drops in concert attendance, issues releasing their album cover due to controversial imagery, sudden changes in management, and the general childish behaviour of the band holding them back. The film pokes fun at the many real life rock stars and bands that existed at the time; including Yes, Early Genesis, Ritchie Blackmore, The Beatles, Dee Snider, Led Zeppelin etc., and how the media and society viewed them during this era. It shows how society viewed Rock Stars as larger than life idols, often overlooking their obvious flaws until it catches up to them; and contrasts it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within the last two months, his breathing has become more difficult, and there has been a noticeable difference in his voice. Prior to the fifteen months, he presented little to no symptoms. Typically, the muscle weakness will affect a limb, and nasal or slurred speech will soon develop. If the patient is limb onset ALS, the symptoms will first occur in the arms and legs. They may have difficulty with dexterous tasks such as writing or opening a door. If the lower limbs are affected, they may notice trouble walking and experience tripping or stumbling. Dropped foot, as demonstrated in the above case study, can also develop from muscle weakness and can cause the individual to drag his or her foot. Limb onset ALS is more typical than all other types, occurring in about 75% of diagnosed individuals. The other 25% may present symptoms described as bulbar onset ALS. These patients may first notice difficulty with proper speech and swallowing. Patients will often lose their voice and have difficulty forming words, caused by a loss of tongue mobility. In rare cases, patients might demonstrate respiratory onset ALS where the intercostal muscles are compromised first. Regardless of which occur first, affected individuals will generally experience most of the symptoms as the disease progresses. Specifically, symptoms that include difficulty swallowing, moving, forming words, tight muscles, spasticity, and/or exaggerated reflexes occur when the upper motor neurons have been damaged. When lower motor neurons are damaged, symptoms such as muscle weakness, atrophy, cramping, and twitching will occur. In some cases, a few of the muscle neurons that ... • 33. The Accusing Angel In John Steinbeck s The Book Of Job The Book of Job tells the story of a man who is a servant of God, perfect in integrity, who fears God and avoids evil. (Pg.6). The story centers on the profound suffering Job faces when an Accusing Angel decides to challenge Job s faith in God (pg. 6). As Job is tested the following questions have risen from its readers. Is Job patient? Is he impatient? Some people read The Book of Job and think it tells the story of an incredibly patient man, who withstands immense trials and yet never experiences aggravation with the test God allows to fall upon him. Others see Job as impatient; because he expresses frustration with the trials he is given and cries out to God to end his life (pgs. 8, 13, 21, 48, 57). I argue that Job is both patient and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Job is tested for his faith, trust, and love for God (pg. 6). The Accusing Angel is focused on proving God wrong, on making Job lose faith (pg.6). Job is called a great follower of God, by God Himself and the Accusing Angel clearly does not like that God has shown so much favor on Job (pg. 6). The test that Job is given by the Accusing Angel, and allowed to be given by God, challenges Job s relationship with God to see if it is a legitimate relationship or not. As humans we know that every relationship is tested at some point or another, whether it be a friendship, a relationship with a family member, or a relationship with a significant other. When relationships are challenged they fall apart or make it through the struggle, this is how we know if a relationship with our loved one is strong and durable or if it is shallow and weak. God and Job have a relationship; God says that they do on page 6 when He references Job as one of his servants. As Job is tested, so is his relationship with God, does he truly love and trust God to be able to make it through the struggle? On page 33 Job makes it clear that Only God is wise and he will do his part and stay faithful to God in the trial so that they can still have a relationship. Job does not know why God allows for this test to fall upon him and cause the potential destruction of their relationship, but he believes that God is doing what needs to be done, whether he understands it or not and whether he agrees with it or not (pg. 27, ... First of all, every disorder is identified using a name and a numerical code. In addition, the manual provides the criteria for diagnosing each disorder as well as establishes subtypes of a disorder and examples that would illustrate the disorder. The manual goes further by addressing the typical age of onset, culturally related information, gender related information, prevalence of a disorder, typical clinical course of a disorder, typical predisposing factors of a disorder and genetic family patterns of a disease (Summers, 2009). The DSM IV is a tool that is used by mental health practitioners and social service workers. As has been demonstrated ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Personality disorders have a sex prevalence rate and there has been some suggestion that those rates reflect gender bias. The bias concerns derived from the conceptualization of personality disorders, the wording of diagnostic criteria, the application of diagnostic criteria, thresholds for diagnosis, clinical presentation, researching sampling, the self awareness and openness of patients and the items included within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009, p. 356). Studies have failed to prove that there is significant gender bias in the DSM. However, research has showed there is gender bias within clinical judgments. For example, gender related items would be included within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009). Clinicians tend to judge female patients as being mentally ill more readily than male patients, even when the symptoms are the same. Moreover, women are more likely to be cast as overly emotional, have a need for mood altering medication and require ongoing monitoring/treatment (Zur and Nordmarken, 2010). Sexual orientation has also caused considerable bias. Homosexuality was listed in the DSM as a mental disorder up until 1974. Even law had identified homosexual behavior as criminal; for instance, sodomy laws. Although homosexuality is no longer listed in the DSM, therapists still have the option of considering homosexual behavior as a sexual disorder not otherwise specified. Covey Summary of Main Points in 7 Habits of Highly Effective People This book on 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was written in 1989, is still a great book today. Stephen R. Covey talked about great habits that we need to encrypt in our daily living to be effective at work, home and as a person. He explained how the habits is based on developing our independence. The first habit he talked about was being proactive in our lives. To be proactive we need to have self awareness of our actions. We need to take responsibility for the choices we make and take responsible for those choices. Second habit is to begin with the end in mind. This is where you develop a vision of what you want to become and our conscience will decide what values will guide you and everything that you do should have an end. Third habit is to put first things first. This is where we need to have discipline to our day so we make sure that we focus on what is the most important to the least important. This is where our will power will come into effect so we don t act on our desires or impulses. Habit four is the win win thought process. To be successful you need to look at the problem between you and the other party and approach it with a mutual solution. To do this it requires understanding and being understood. This way everyone can be satisfied with the outcome of the solution. The fifth habit was, seek first to understand them to understood. One important skill that we need to use is our listening ... The best way I can relate to these topics is by talking about my personal experiences at Navy Boot Camp. The worst eight and a half weeks of my life. The Good Beginning My journey began, I was leaving the Tampa airport and heading to Chicago, destination Great Lakes, to become a sailor.
