Persuasive Essay Writing
Crafting a persuasive essay on the subject of "Persuasive Essay Writing" poses a unique
challenge. The inherent paradox lies in the need to not only convey information effectively but
also to persuade the reader to adopt a specific viewpoint. This task demands a delicate balance
between logical reasoning, eloquent expression, and a deep understanding of the audience's
potential reservations.
To begin with, one must delve into the complexities of persuasive writing itself. It requires a
meticulous choice of words, a thorough understanding of the target audience, and an ability to
present a compelling argument. Moreover, one must navigate the fine line between being
assertive and respectful, ensuring that the persuasive elements are not overshadowed by
aggression or condescension.
Another layer of difficulty arises from the need to research and gather relevant information to
fortify the essay's arguments. The writer must sift through a myriad of sources, discerning
credible information from biased or unreliable content. This process not only demands time but
also a keen analytical eye to distinguish between facts and opinions.
Furthermore, the challenge lies in organizing the essay coherently. The structure must be
strategically designed to lead the reader through a logical progression of ideas, building a
persuasive momentum. This involves careful consideration of the introduction, body paragraphs,
and conclusion, each playing a crucial role in influencing the reader's stance.
However, the most formidable obstacle might be the art of anticipating and countering potential
counterarguments. A persuasive essay is not only about presenting one's viewpoint but also about
preemptively addressing opposing perspectives. This requires a level of foresight and the ability
to address objections with tact and precision.
In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay on the intricacies of persuasive essay writing is, without
a doubt, a challenging undertaking. It demands a nuanced understanding of rhetoric, a
commitment to thorough research, and the finesse to navigate the intricate dance between
persuasion and information dissemination. It is a task that calls for both intellect and artistry,
making it a formidable challenge for any writer.

Surgical Apparel And Treatment Of Hair Removal

Before the procedures I gathered the supplies needed A surgery pack, suture material,

that the isoflurane in the anesthesia machine was full. I made sure that the correct

As soon as the patient is positioned on the table, a thorough skin prep is completed.
With new, clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine scrub from the prep
tray, then rinse scrub with alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since
the all gross debris has been removed from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the
center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a bulls eye
pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze
sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid unnecessary
skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain
on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation is started as soon as the animal
is on the surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between
antimicrobial and the skin. After skin prep is complete, finish securing legs and
make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft
ropes are double looped over each leg. One loop above the carpus and one below
on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind legs are
sufficient to hold the animal s legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without
slack in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also known as the
halter tie knot used in livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs
to be repositioned in an emergency) In large, deep chested
Analysis Of The Movie Big Two Hearted River
With the availability of mass media in these times, we can view the horrors of war
on a daily basis. During World War I (WW I) these were only in the minds of our
veterans. Mr. Hemingway s story of a returning WW I soldier, Big Two Hearted
River , parts one and two, actually may be representative of his own life
experiences. The story starts as Nick, returns to his home after presumably
fighting for his country in WW I. He decides to return to a favorite place of his
youth to go fishing and decompress from the toils of war. Throughout this short
story, he uses symbols of how war can influence the environment, man s internal
struggles, and one man s struggle to return to normalcy. Many know of the
negative effect war has on human s, but we must also consider the environmental
side. Mr. Hemingway effectively describes this negative impact on nature. He
paints a picture of his place of solace that is partially charred and closely resembles
how a WW I battlefield is depicted in most textbooks. He notices that there are no
buildings left of a town that he once knew. No trees were left standing and it even
appeared that, Even the surface had been burned off the ground (Perkins 164). This
resulted in the black soot that Nick noticed on the grasshoppers. He noticed that
they were not like were not the big grasshoppers with yellow and black or red and
black wings whirring out from their black wing sheathing (Perkins 164). They were
covered in the black soot and he
Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging
Rock...
Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at
Hanging Rock, has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed
and constrained through the characterisation of various figures throughout the
novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious disappearance of three girls and a
teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the Appleyard College s
trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the main
focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and
controlled, which has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw,
Mrs Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher,
is one of the least likely to go missing. However this is exactly what occurs and
through this uncharacteristic disappearance a notion is presented that excessive
repression results in extreme methods of release. The characterisation of Mrs
Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers
understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually
breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the
previously mentioned characters by being kind and affectionate towards the girls.
The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock
contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and suppressed and
progresses the reader s understanding of this
Jellicle Cats Dance Essay
The dance piece Jellicle cats is an adaptation of the full dance price from the musical
Cats, which focuses on Jazz and acrobatic skills and techniques. The intention of the
dance jellicle cats was easily interpreted by the audience. The dance intention of the
choreography is for the dancer to symbolise sly cats. Each dancer is unique as they
represent different types of cats, such as grumpy cat, sassy cat and sad cat. The
objects on the stage, such as the chairs and table create an atmosphere of a dark Ally
way. The table symbolise a dumpster bin and the chairs represents a balcony and the
chair at the back represents a cardboard boxThe dancers use motif, such as cat claws,
hand ears, imaginary tail and sly movement which help the intention of the routine.
The intention of the routine was achieved through the dance components and
techniques. The dance piece was mostly unified. All dance breaks were unified,
meaning every dancer is synchronised and does the exact same choreography. This
shows that the cats are unified and close to each other, sorta like a pack. Another
choreography device used in the dance is a canon and mirroring used in the last
verse. The canon is shown in the kick section after acrobatic. The mirroring is used in
the last dance break with the gallop ball change. These techniques make the ... Show

movements are more sharp and controlled, such as when we do the low to high

Sustained movement are seen when we do the turn to kick. The kick has to be

words and the dance routine. The movements are slow in the verses were more

The Civil Rights Movement And Mccarthyism
The Roman epic film genre was extremely popular in the 50s and 60s for its spectacle
and relevance to the contemporary social and political atmosphere. During this time
period, WWII created a growing uneasiness and hatred for evil dictatorships;
simultaneously, Christianity was becoming more important to establish the
superiority of the United States. Then, at the forefront of American politics was the
Civil Rights movement and McCarthyism, which prompted Americans to live up to
the Christianreligion they adopted. Generally, Christians and Christianityin the
Roman epic films of the 50s and 60s were utilized to characterize protagonists
opposing tyrannical Roman antagonists; the role of Christians and the polarity in the
films becomes less explicit to fit historical accuracy and changing contemporary
politics. This essay will analyze the general role of Christians and their gradually
subdued explicit presence through time in the movies, Quo Vadis (Zimbalist 1951),
Ben Hur (Zimbalist 1959), Spartacus (Douglas 1960), and The Fall of the Roman
Empire(Bronston 1964). Quo Vadis has a plot dependent on the plight of innocent,
peaceful Christians against the evil tyranny of the antichrist, Nero, which is revealed
in the opening narration (Zimbalist 1951). There is an obvious polarization between
the Roman elite, especially Emperor Nero, and the Christians. Nero s massacre of the
Christians would resonate clearly with American audiences at the time as a parallel to

Introduction:
Remanufacturing has now a days become very popular from auto motives, electronics
to IT because it makes production economical and environmentally attractive. But it s
not fully accepted by customers because of quality and aftersales concern. Two new
service modes (extended warranty and free replacement service) are developed to
address this problem. Using mathematical models, financial benefits are evaluated to
see whether these modes make significant difference or not.
The survey of Sinotruk Jinan Fuqiang Power Co., Ltd. (JFP) customers using
remanufactured heavy truck engines is carried out with information if and how two
newly designed service modes can provide financial gains over traditional service
modes. This company is well known for selling more than 50% of the total
remanufactured truck engines all across China
Benefit evaluation by 5 steps:
1.Demand and profit function is used to determine benefit of the services. The first
step includes calculating warranty, replacement length and price which changes
according to real life situation. Same can be calculated for remanufacturing products.
2.The survey is conducted to find out how many customers are

The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi
Channel...
Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows
non linear behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory
when pressure is concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases
with respect to increasing radial distance from the centre. However in this case, we
see that there are two principal stresses and they behave differently than one another.
This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called strain gauge rosette
used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate principal
stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate,
stress and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure
stress, strains are instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress
values are calculated. The most popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge.
Since strain is the measure of change in displacement over the original dimension of a
structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive enough to detect that small change in
displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive measuring equipment and
ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also to omit any
errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our
knowledge on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional
strains are not
Similarities And Differences Between The Knight And The...
Along the pilgrimage of Geoffrey Chaucer s prologue of The Canterbury Tales, the
narrator describes two distinct characters, the Knight and the Pardoner. The
characters share somewhat similar lifestyles, but they are undoubtedly different
people in temperament, only traveling with the same group to see the Archduke of
Canterbury, Thomas Г Becket. The Pardoner is a man of the church who sells
indulgences, a method of being forgiven by paying money to the church, but this
Pardoner greedily takes money and bribes for his personal exploitation. The other
character, the Knight, has just finished fighting for the sovereign in holy wars and
wishes to give thanks for all he has done and been fortunate to have. Although the
Knight and the Pardoner are both experienced in their respective professions, these
ultimately contrasting characters reinforce the idea that power does not always lead
to corruption.
In comparison, the literary elements describing idealize the Knight to show his
nobility despite his position of power while the Pardoner clearly exemplifies power
leading to corruption through satire and sarcasm. The narrator portrays the Knight as
a most distinguished man who is as modest as a maid (Chaucer 43, 71). By using an
epithet with such a positive connotation, the Knight is idealized to be the perfect
knight in shining armor, and by furthering his persona to be exceedingly humble,
especially in likeness of a low class servant, the Knight illustrates an extraordinary

The argumentthat asset prices are set by rational investors is part of the grand oral
traditionin economics and is often attributedto Milton Friedman, one of the
greatesteconomists of the century and one of the greatestdebatersof all time. But the
argument has two fundamental problems. First, even if asset priceswere set only by
rationalinvestors in the aggregate, knowing what individual investors are doing might
still be of interest. Second, although the argumentis intuitively appealing and
reassuring, its adherents have rarely spelled it out carefully. Suppose a markethas two
kinds of investors: rational investors (rationals), who behave like agents in economics
textbooks, and quasi rational investors (quasi s),people who are trying as hard as they
can to make good investmentdecisions but make predictablemistakes. Suppose also
that two assets in this market,X and Y, areobjectivelyworth the same amount but

Depleted Uranium Research Paper
Depleted uranium is a type of radioactive material that is produced during the
Uranium enrichment process (WHO, N.D., p.1). The enriched uranium is removed
from the depleted portions and used for various purposes such as production of
nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants; the depleted portions are used for, among
other things, military munitions. These munitions are not highly radioactive but
could they be used for a RDD?
Depleted uranium is used for military purposes because of its incredible density
(HPS, 2010, p.1). The material is harder than steel and serves as an excellent armor
piercing round. The material is not used for its radiation producing properties or to
poison the target. It has been used around the world for military purposes since
before the 1980s. Health risks to soldiers using the depleted uranium ammunitions
are considered low because the round produces very low radiation which is not in
excess of acceptable levels (HPS, 2010, p.2). However depleted uranium can be
dangerous in two ways: if it is embedded in the body or material near the impact site
is inhaled. Both ways require that the material enter the body. This means that
residual radiation put off by an RDD explosion using depleted uranium would not be
an issue, just the debris and dust created by the explosion. If a person inhales the
dust or gets a piece of the depleted uranium lodged under the skin the radiation
produced will, over time, lead to significant health effects, most ... Show more content

This however is misguided. Any victims near the blast site or any one handling
debris after the detonation would be at risk of exposure; the general population in
the region, even a hundred meters away, will not be at risk of radiation exposure
because, once again, the uranium must actually enter the body. This fact makes
depleted uranium RDDs ineffective and unlikely for use by
Estrogen Therapy Essay
The idea of using large doses of estrogen to permanently seal the epiphyseal, or
growth plates began in the 1940 s and 1950 s. It was originally used to treat
children with acromegaly, or excessive growth disorder caused by the pituitary gland
producing excessive growth hormone, GH.(6) When the growth plates are closed at
an early age it can reduce a height by several inches. In 2006, the intentions of this
type of treatment drastically changed. Douglas Diekema, who was the director of
education at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics at the Seattle Children s
Hospital, and Daniel Gunther, a endocrinologist, announced in the Archives of
Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine a new use of estrogen therapy. This time though,
it was for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It was argued how the health care system is moving towards fully adopting evidence
based medicine, yet Gunther and Deikema offered no evidence that Ashely or any
other child would actually benefit from the treatment. Estrogen therapy for growth
attenuation is considered a new innovative therapy or off label treatment using an
approved drug, but the AAIDD claims there have be no other studies to date that
have tracked these outcomes, including complications, and long term effects of its
use. (7) The National Catholic Partnership on Disability put emphasis on the risks of
thrombosis and seizures associated with high estrogen levels and the lack of rigorous
clinical trials testing this treatment. There is also concern for the additional health
risks related to weight gain and short stature and the effects that will come from it.
Lastly, the article touched on the slippery slope of medical decision making. Once the
decision was made to start estrogen therapy and compromise growth, it then became
incredibly easier for doctors and parents to partake in an invasive hysterectomy
without considering the moral and ethical objections.
Analyzing The Essay The Magic Of The Family Meal
The essay, The Magic of the Family Meal by Nancy Gibbs, was first published June
12 2006. In the essay she describes why mealtime together is important. Gibbs Also
goes on to tell why and its effect on the participants. Having mealtime together is
important to our social and cultural well being. For parents today it is important to
have at least one mealtogether a day, having the children help prepare the meal, and
making conversation at the dinner table. Having at least one meal a day together can
have a large impact. Such as with manners, not only at the table but social cues. As
how to share or pass foodwith others. When having meals together there is also a
better chance of healthier foods, rather than unhealthier food choices. Studies
show that the more often families eat together, the less likely kids are to smoke,
drink, do drugs, get depressed, develop eating disorders, and consider suicide and the
more likely they are to do well in school, delay having sex, eat their vegetables, learn
big words, and know which fork to use (Gibbs 212). Next would be having the
children help prepare the meal. Helping prepare and cook the meal teaches children
a valuable skill for life. When helping prepare the food it can also get them to show

the power of this habit and why social scientists say such communion acts as a kind

Purpose Of Bail Bonds
The basic concept of what we know as bail bonds today evolved from way back in
the 13th century, where the primary purpose of bail bonds were to draw less
distinctions among the wealthy, the middle class and the poor. The key purpose
behind the bail system is that individuals who stand accused of a crime and meet the
right criteria can be released from their jail cell while waiting for their trial.
With bail bonds companies, a bondsman accepts a certain percentage of the bail
money needed, and in return, they will post the rest for the individual charged of
crime and awaiting their day in the court system. What has changed is that in the
past, only those who had enough funding or property could post their bond as
security and be released as the trial was pending. Eventually, business minded
individuals of the middle ages realized that because they had enough capital, they
could offer a form of security in the defendant s name, and they received a
percentage as insurance. When using a bail bondsmen, there are extra fees involves,
which is how these organizations earn a profit from their practice. ... Show more

In general, the bail laws have addressed what is fairness, and they have set the
price of a bond based on the crime that the person has been charged with. The

state to state. Posting bail bonds for people who financially have no funding to do it
themselves has become a growing and invaluable
The Lives of Slaves on Plantations vs. the Lives of Slaves...
The lives of Slaves on Plantations vs. the lives of Slaves in Big Cities During the
mid 18th century African Americans living in the United States were born, raised,
and sold as slaves. Many of them were transported from Africa to the Americas
through the middle passage. Arriving in the Americas, African Americans were
sold as slaves to slave owners during auctions and were sent out to different homes
in order to start their new lives. Many slaves were sent out to large rural
plantations in the South and many slaves were sent out to more urban areas like
the cities of New Orleans and Baltimore. The lives of slaves on plantations differed
greatly from the lives of slaves in the cities. Slaves who lived on plantations worked

Since many slaves were forced to work during hot and humid summer days without
any proper care, food, and clothing this caused them to be prone to illness.
Sicknesses such as yellow fever, malaria, and many other diseases caused the
deaths of many slaves working on plantations. The alarming amount of wide
spread disease was a big fear amongst plantation workers because many slaves were
scared that they too would catch something and die due to the lack of medications
and care. For slave owners the lives of slaves held no true value and were not
viewed as equals to the white race, as Marie St Claire, a slave owner states in
Uncle Tomes Cabin when she says, putting them on any sort of equality with us,
you know, as if we could be compared, why, it impossible! (151). Slaves were left to
fend for themselves, unattained to their needs any slaves watched others die right
in front of their very own eyes. If a slave misbehaved on the plantation his owner
would take violent measures such as beating him in order to teach him a lesson.
Some slave owners would even whip their slaves causing massive scars and bad
lashes all across their bodies (Berkin). Many of these injuries were not properly taken
care of and would easily get infected, which would leave the slaves in pain for long
periods of times. In his memoire Slave Life in Georgia, John Brown, a fugitive
Satire As A Popular Form Of Satire
When one types satire in their search bar, the definition found is, Satire is defined as
the use of the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize
people s stupidity or vices, particularly in the context of contemporary politics and
other topical issues. Political satireis a very popular form of satire, it s used as a way
to gain entertainment from politics, a way to voice opinions in a comedic biting
style, and to further arguments in a way that others can t. Political satire has had a

I would also along with researching whether people use political satire for their
news, is to understand whether the news they re getting is reliable enough to use as
a news source. I think it s important to know why things gain popularity, and why
things continue to grow and grow more popular as the years go by, especially when
it comes to the changes of where people get their news and information in order to be
a functioning part of our democracy. But the real question is; why do people love
political satire, why have they moved from the traditional forms of journalism to
political satire programs? It seems that, the popular demand for Stewart s narrative
signals a larger shift in the way Americans think about news and where they go to get
it away from institutional journalism and its longstanding ethos of objectivity and the
authoritative voice and toward more independent voices that essentially return to
iconic ideas of the press as a tool for building community and enabling conversations
between publics rather than acting as the mass medium it did in the latter part of the
twentieth century (Cutbirth).

Embalming By Jessica Mitford Analysis

procedures that are being done when embalming a corpse. She explains that most
people pay a lot of money each year, and yet not one in ten thousand has any idea of
what actually takes place , and the books related to this subject or any information
are extremely hard to obtain. She adds, there must be a good reason why they keep
these procedures secret and if people knew they would not want these procedures

Story Of Pegasus Research Paper
Pegasus is my favorite constellation. It lies in the northern sky and looks like a box
with legs. I like the idea of a horse with wings that can not only gallop across land
but also fly freely through the sky. I dream sometimes of having my own winged
horse to ride and for this reason Pegasus is my favorite constellation.
The story of Pegasus finding his way into the night sky begins with the death of
Medusa. Upon her beheading Pegasus jumped out and began living on Mount
Helicon. On Mount Helicon, Bellerophon, a Greek hero, claimed Pegasus and chose
to fly with him to Mount Olympus, the home of the Gods. Upon the way, Zeus, the
father of the pantheon, who lived on Mount Olympus, sent a horsefly to disrupt
Bellerophon s voyage. The horse fly bit Pegasus and caused him to buck

Pegasus continued on however and eventually made it to Mount Olympus. Zeus
took Pegasus on his lighting bolt deliverer and was eventually rewarded for his
fateful service by being placed as a figure in the night sky.
(Pega, the dirty colt)
Most people know the myth about Pegasus told above but not many know the
alternate version in which Pegasus was born as a normal horse in a simple farming
village on earth. An uncommon colt, Pega his original name, would not eat grass,
roam the pasture or even preen himself like the other colts. Instead Pega just laid
about, growing dirtier and dirtier by the day. He was so dirty that Pega attracted a
lot of flies...much more than the average horse. Although he usually didn t mind, one
day the flies became too much for even him to bear. They were buzzing around and
biting him so much that he had had it. He started to run to get a way from
The Buddha Of Suburbia By Hanif Kureishi
For many people, the word punk brings to mind similar images of grungy looking
teenagers who are wearing dark, ripped clothing held together with safety pins and
chains which displays some sort of offensive symbol or saying. They are probably
also wearing a leather jacket and Doc Martens, sporting an unconventional
hairstyle such as a brightly colored Mohawk or spikes, and listening to loud music.
For the most part, the images people think of as associated with the word punk are
a pretty accurate representation of how people who were part of the punk
movement looked. Though most people can describe what punks are supposed to
look like, most cannot explain the purpose of the anti fashion trend that most punks
followed. Throughout Hanif Kureishi s novel, The Buddha of Suburbia, there is a
focus on the emergence of the punk scene in London during the 1970s. The first
obvious encounter we have with punk in the novel appears on page 129, when
Karim and Charlie go to the Nashville and see their first punk band. The Nashville
is a popular venue where many punk bands got their start, and a lot of famous bands,
such as the Sex Pistols, performed. Karim describes the scene that they come upon
with a great detailed description of the outlandish appearances of both the audience
and the band members. He also describes the unusual way they are acting, the
aggressive way they are dancing and the abuse between the band and audience.
Though his attention is mainly on the emergence of the
Pop Culture
In the course of my lifetime, I have witnessed firsthand the erosion of decency
standards in media. In present day it is not unusual to hear swearing on the radio,
nudity in magazines and all of the above on television. Over the course of a few
years it is apparent that societal views on decency have declined immensely. It
appears as if we have evolved from a society aimed at preventing children from
exposure to indecency, to a society in which parental controls are not only
available, but are a necessity. In an even more concerning observation the lower
standard of decency is not only geared towards adults as it is very much apparent on
networks catered to children. The decline in decency standards is also very apparent in

Perhaps the greatest evidence of the eroded decency standards in television, is
Reality TV. In the past few years some of the most popular television shows have
been Jersey Shore, Teen Mom, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Hell s Kitchen.
While each of those may cater to a different audience they do share an ability to
effectively contribute to the eroding standard of decency. In fact in every one of
those aforementioned shows, foul language can be found. Some shows take it a step
further and incorporate drug themes, and sexual connotations. In an episode of Teen
Mom we viewed examples of Domestic Violence and Prescription drug abuse.
Keeping up with the Kardashians featured an episode in which Khloe Kardashian
was arrested for driving under the influence. It appears that the reality of reality
Television is that foul language, promiscuity and barely there attire is an ongoing
trend. It is quite apparent that we live in a society with a Sex Sells mentality. This

What Was The Impact Of Industrialization On American
Society
Have you ever wondered how American society has come to be how it is today?
Would you like to know how one time period formed the United States in which we
know today? Industrialization, the development of industries throughout a particular
area, is the one time period in which American society has been impacted the most.
Many may even say that industrialization has made what the United States is what it
is today. Despite this, there are many negative impacts industrialization has brought
upon American society. The three major impacts that industrialization has made
pertain to its impact on social classes, where there came to be a much larger gap
between the upper and working classes, an increase in urbanization, which lead to
many problems of its own, which spanned to overpopulation as well as immigration,
and lastly, the impact it had on women, which overall determined what kind of
position they had within American society. One major impact that industrialization
caused pertains to the difference in social classes. Prior to industrialization, there was
a much smaller gap between the upper and working classes. This all changed due to
industrialization though. Big businesses such as the Carnegie Steel Industry were
successful because of the different machines that were invented during this time,
which improved efficiency. Efficiency was most important during this age due to the
increase in railroads in which a much larger supply of goods were needed to fit the

A Clockwork Orange Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
Anthony Burgess 1963 novel A Clockwork Orange, orbits around a extremely
dynamic character that goes by simply, Alex. Alex does have three other droogs that
he drags along with him, Pete, Georgie, and Dim, Dim being really dim (Burgess
3). Burgess brilliant mind drags the reader in by starting the novel at The Korova
Milkbar, which is a mesto, place, where Alexand his droogs drink some milk with a
little surprise of liquor in their beverages. Later they end up leaving the Milkbar,
while they are on their way to a different bar they spot a helpless old man walking
home, therefore, they take the opportunity to beat the innocent old man, ripping the
books he was caring to shreds, and stripping him of his clothing. This was the first of
many crimes the fourteen year olds committee. Anthony Burgesschanges the setting

they realize that he is way too powerful to be around, they turn in him to the police
in order so he could get arrested, and they wouldn t have to worry about having to
deal with somebody that is way too powerful for them. Similarities also happen in
Her Best Friend when Amy Parker, the protagonist, is his love with her best friend
s husband. The normal person will not interfere and let her friend have eternal
happiness, but she goes after him and completely backstabs her best friend leaving
them in a battle of who will keep the guy and who would be victorious in the end.
Both novels show just how people will be there for you, they show just how
powerful their friendships are, both novels show that nobody will be there for you in

Mccarthyism In The Salem Witch Trials
The False Accusations of McCarthyism shown in The Salem Witch Trials The hunt
for a scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions, Dwight D. Eisenhower. You
can distinguish from this that he is trying to relay the message that when you re
pursuing someone to blame, there are many people to cast it on. This concept is
pertinent to the Salem Witch Trials and the McCarthy trials because the supposed
witches and communists were just scapegoats for the fret that the common man had.

she is discovered guilty of witchcraft and dodges the noose because they found out

You must understand, sir, that a person is either with this court or must be counted

Proctor was speaking out against the court, and was later hanged. In the McCarthy

Perspective Essay on the Code of the Streets
Perspective Essay on The Code of the Streets
Culture in urban communities, also referred to as inner cities, are growing
increasingly violent. In the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he
begins to take an in depth look at the root of the evil. He deduces that economic
factors, parenting and the troublesome environments largely influence the violent
norms within this culture.
Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner cities which he
labels as the decent and the streets. Although both groups suffer economic difficulties,
they differ in values mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment.
The decent group seeks to adopt mainstream middle class values, such as a love, ...

Robberies, violence and drug dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The
decent families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children
to understand and respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves.
Also, many youths in the inner cities try to behave as others within their sub
culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way that a race is labeled to be
standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in baggy clothes
and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African Americanyouth
to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely
different at home or in other environments such as family gatherings or church.
Anderson begins to analyze the troubled culture by first looking at the home
environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ drastically between
the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families and
try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing
environment and aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved
in their performance in school and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews
for their children and generally know where and whom they are with at all times,
especially young children. They try to prepare their children for the unknown and

Positive And Negative Outcomes Of The Crusades
The Crusades were a group of Christians that Pope Urban II started back in 1095.
They also had 9 Crusades, or 9 times when they would attack to get the Holy Land,
against the Muslims and Jews, but mostly against the Muslims. During those battles
there were both positive and negative. Were the results of the Crusades more positive
or negative? The Crusades were more negative than positive because they worsen
their relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, they destroyed and
betrayed their closest ally, and their towns or cities were difficult to handle. One
reason why the Crusades were more negative than positive was because they worsen
their own relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, even tho they
were bad anyways. Document 5 states that First, the long struggle between Islam and
Christendom and the example of persecution set by Christian kings and prelates
(bishops) left an inheritance of deep bitterness; relations between Muslims and their
Christian and Jewish subjects worsened. (description of some of the effects of the
Crusades). This is (important/interesting/relevant) because even if the Christian and
Muslims relationship was bad already the Crusades made it worse by the bitterness
left and even the Jews now are in it because when the Crusades lost, they took their
fury against the Jews and would slaughter and destroy their cities even though the lost

The Impact of Monsters in Literature and Films
Throughout generations, watching movies and reading novels have been some of the
most popular forms of entertainment. Horror is among the most famous genres of
film and literature since it is usually aimed at giving the audience a chilling or
shocking experience. Monsters in such films and novels have long been objects of
both fascination and fear. From intergalactic aliens to medieval dragons, the monster
has always revealed people s fascination with mystical beings and what it means to be
human. The use of Monsters in films and literature captures the imagination and
embodies the fears and concerns of their audiences.
Every culture has its way of representing mysterious situations and channel their
intense fears and nightmares caused by such situations through the figure of a
monster. The creation of monsters in horror films and literature varies on the writer
s perception of monsters and what various cultures find horrible and frighten.
According to Bruce F. Kawin, author of Composite Monsters: Island of Lost Souls
and The Fly, monsters in horror films provide individuals the opportunity to explore
all forms of life from natural to unnatural. For instance, Kawin s defines a monster to
an imaginary creature made up of the parts of two or more animals, one of which
might be a human (Kawin 99) Kawin braces monster s definition by comparing the

Themes Of Necttar In The Village
Modernisation to the Village
The way of living of people in villages is the culture of a society. Village way of life
in India is considered to be full of cultural rituals and beliefs. People mostly work on
plantations to earn a living for themselves and the family. Whereas modernization is
the current term for an old process, the process of social change whereby less
developed societies acquire characteristics common to more developed societies.
This essay will discuss a theme of Nectar in a Sieve which is the tension between
modernization and traditional ways of life. It will also discuss how different
characters respond to elements that represent the coming of the modern world to the
village.
To begin with, Rukmani s curiousness on the arrival of the men to build tannery,
changed to anger as she saw the effect of tannery on the village s way of life.
Rukmani and some of the onlookers are somewhat taken aback when the newcomers
boldly told them what to do in their own village. When at long last the tannery is
finished, some people are unhappy to see the workers go, but Rukmani is not. She

was only comforting her with the truth of life. Nathan bears the results of the strike at
the tannery more graciously than anyone. He declares that their children must do
what they do for their benefit, not for their parents. He quiets everyone with his

The American Juvenile Justice System
The American juvenile justice system had developed over the past century with a
number of variables that makes it different from the adult criminal justice process.
Juvenile justice advocates supports the differences on the youthful offenders.
Juvenile crime policy over the course of the twentieth century talks about transferring
the law s conceptions of young offenders. Starting from the nineteenth century, many
of the youths were tried and punished as adults. However, treatment of juveniles in
the United States started to change. Reformers created a way where juveniles can be
housed in special facilities. Their mission was to protect juvenile offenders by
separating them from adults. Juvenile justice system focuses primarily on
rehabilitation and help youths avoid a future of crime. Since then there have been
many milestones and historical evolutions that can make juvenile justice an effective
system.
Because there was no real separate court or jail for juveniles in the nineteenth century,
juveniles were treated on the same level as every other adult justice system allowing
them susceptible to the same punishments as adults. In the beginning of the
nineteenth century, society changed their views and how they viewed juvenile
offenders. During the early years of the juvenile justice system, three major
milestones have occurred; the child saving movement, the concept of parens patriae,
and the Illinois Juvenile Court Act. In our modern society, juvenile offenders are now
Essay on Romantic Poetry
Poetry is a varied art form. Poetry is expression with words, using aesthetics and
definition. Word choice in poetry is the single most important thing. Devices such as
assonance, alliteration and rhythm work in a poem to convey a certain image or to
facilitate understanding. Similes and metaphors can take two unlike objects, such as
a potato and cinderblock, and if done the correct way use them to describe how
Abraham Lincoln dealt with scoundrels. Poetry is beautiful. One of the best genres in

Cinnamon Controversy
Cinnamon is a common everyday spice obtained from the inner bark of several trees
from the genus Cinnamomum that is used to flavor both sweet and savory foods.
The strong taste and scent come from cinnamaldehyde. The essential oil of cinnamon
bark is around 90% cinnamaldehyde (Wikipedia). Cinnamon trees are generally
tropical trees but can be grown in all 50 states simply by bringing the trees indoors
before temperatures drop below 40 degrees and also providing an abundant amount of
light. Several methods of laboratory production exist, but cinnamaldehydeis most
sparingly obtained from the steam distillation of the oil of cinnamonbark.
The most obvious application for cinnamaldehyde is as flavoring in chewing gum,
ice cream, candy, and beverages.
Defense Mechanisms And The First Defense Mechanism
Defense Mechanisms Defense mechanisms are known as ways we protect ourselves
from the feelings or things that we do not want to deal with. Defense mechanisms
tend to be a way to cope with situations, from which an individual feels anxiety or
stressed. Everyone uses defenses mechanisms to help them get through frustrating
experiences. There are several types of defense mechanisms; the main ones that I
can remember using are regression, denial, projection, repression, rationalization,
and displacement. The first defense mechanism I like to uses is regression.
Regression is defined as leading to the temporary or long term reversion of the ego
to an earlier stage of development rather than handling unacceptable impulses in a
more adult way. I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Regression helps people by, when someone confronted by stressful events, they
sometimes abandon coping strategies and revert to patterns of behavior used
earlier in development. The second defense mechanism, I ve used is denial. Denial
is simply refusing to acknowledge that an event has occurred, a person acts as if
nothing has happened, behaving in ways those others may see as bizarre. In my
life, I have only known one person that has past that I have cared about. When she
past a couple years ago, I just did not want to believe it. I stayed up almost every
night that week, trying to think that it was not real and it was only a dream. Still
to this day, I try to tell myself it is not real, but reality hits me and she will always
be gone. Personally I can only remember using denial as a defense mechanism once
in my life, but I also had a neighbor his name was Cody he was 17 years old and he
started using drugs, the changes in his behavior made it pretty obvious to anyone
who know him, but Cody s parents just didn t believe. I believe that Cody s parents
where in denial; because that was there baby, and they just did not want to believe
that there kid would get into that kind of stuff. The third defense mechanism I have
used is projection. Projection is where a person defends themselves against unpleasant
impulses by denying their existence in themselves, while attributing them to others. I
have been known of doing

There had to be more to what they were doing to convince Americans that

When I think of Americans today, many of them raise an eyebrow to what the

what the government is asking them to do. When Mike Bloomberg suggested
making it illegal for restaurants to sell extra large sodas, many people that I know

felt that their rights were being violated. This is how I view most Americans today,
they are stubborn and are very protective of their rights. Which is why I find it hard

conscious fashion choices to either hide or emphasize certain body parts in order to
attain what they perceived as the ideal body image. In addition, it appears that men
value practicality over aesthetic (Frith Gleeson, 2004). Similarly, Galilee discovered
that despite the theory of the masculinization of consumption (the idea that in recent
years, men are increasingly being viewed as consumers), young men viewed an
interest in fashion and consumption as lacking masculinity (2002). Galilee found that
young men are unlikely to admit an interest in fashion magazines because they
viewed an interest in fashion as not masculine. Nonetheless, young men appeared to
utilize fashion to highlight their individuality as well as their collective identity with
their peers (2002). The results from his interviews suggest that young men often
admit to prioritizing quality and
Death Of A Salesman Imagery Analysis
Miller has develop imagery not only through phrases but off stage lines that have
given the play a ominous feeling. Imagery is a reoccurring inanimate object that
proposes some type of influence on the play. The reader sees specific consistent
noises and emotions that help create imagery in Miller s lines. Remember those
two beautiful elm trees out there? Willy says. Willy loved to see green. He loved
to watch the gardens grow and flourish, but specifically loved to remember the
times when the roses bloomed. Remember Willy states, this subtle word gives the
reader a reference to follow. This reference is to Willy s past time love. Willy
remembers the good days; he remembers when there wasn t a bunch of tall buildings

Such as the consistent use of seeds in the play. Willy is in constant fear throughout
the play with trying to be a sufficient father. The reader watches as Willy grows old
how he is in inadequate father and, in certain situations, he is troubled by his failed
fatherly role. Whenever Willy is in a situation, such as after the boys abandon him
at Frank s Chop House, he goes to the local store and buys seeds to plant. These
seeds are a very common reoccurring symbol that acts as a replacement for his
children. Willy never stops trying to be the best father he can for his boys but
when Willy buys these seeds he feels like he is succeeding at making his children
grow in life. He finds pleasure and satisfaction in making a couple seeds grow to be
a successful bunch of flowers. On the way home tonight, I d like to buy some
seeds.... Willy says to Linda as she replies, Not enough sun gets back there. Nothing
ll grow anymore. This quote shows us how a simple man just wants to buy some
seeds and plant them but is always hit by reality which tells him he can t. The
statement Nothing ll grow anymore is a consistent reminder to Willy on how he has
not only failed to be a successful salesman but a good husband and
Csr And Corporate Social Responsibility
ABSTRACT Different scholars and professors have defined CSR or Corporate
Social Responsibility in many ways. Generally, CSR includes the responsibilities
that businesses hold towards the societies they carry their operations in (Cadbury,
2006). The European Commission defines CSR as a concept whereby companies
decide voluntarily to contribute to a better society and a cleaner environment. A
more specific definition of CSR explains that businesses must identify their
stakeholder groups and understand their needs and values and take those values into
their operational and strategic decision making process (Cadbury, 2006). For a
business to apply real corporate social responsibility, they must apply economical and
ethical strategies in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Google acts similarly but with more interaction with the societies surrounding them.
Google in the eyes of many is still considered the closest to surrounding societies.
INTRODUCTION
The four previously mentioned companies, carry around a positive reputation
whenever they are mentioned. They are considered the most reputable around the
world, thus there is a type of a Halo Effect that goes around them anytime they are
mentioned. Besides being very popular and famous for their donations, all four
companies are extremely active and genuine in all perceptions that measure or drive
CSR. In order to act responsibly in a society, a company must first understand the
elements of a successful CSR practice within an organization. First step starts with
getting the support and participation of high profile executives that are willing to
stand up for the strategy of practicing more social responsible operations. Then
creating a visionary document in order for the public and stakeholders to read and
see the ambitions and goals of the organization.
ARGUMENT/ BODY Google ranked 1st in terms of best workplace . 51% of the
consumers surveyed among the 15 markets, agreed that Google is an appealing
place to work at and they treat their employees well (Smith, 2013). Google s
international success is related to social responsibility strategies. Around the world,
Google has been able to stand and interact with local societies as a local company
rather that an international foreign

Analysis Of Social Media
Social media is constantly adding more and more different platforms. This discourse
is constantly evolving daily and presents the difficult task of naming all the different
platforms. During my writing phase of my project according to ebiz.com, the top
fifteen most popular social media were: Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest,
Google+, Tumbler, Instagram, Reddit, VK, Flickr, Vine, Meetup, Ask, FM, and
Classmates this list is not exhaustive. For the purposes of this project, I will
primarily focus on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Pinterest, Snapchat and Instagram.
Here are features of the social media chosen for my project: вќ–Facebook is a
popular free social networking website that allows registered users to create profiles,

Snapchat allows users to take pictures and videos called snaps. Users can set a time
limit, after which the picture or the video is removed from the Snapchat server and
the recipient s device. This provides security for users who are concerned their
images may be stored on the Internet or used without their permission. According to
the Numbers Numbers don t lie. While statistics themselves are not enough
evidence to support my argument for the church to use social media, the most
recent statistics indicate that Americans are embracing the internet and social
networking as a means of connection precipitously. Social media is now an integral
part of life online as social websites and applications become more easily available.
Most traditional online media include social components, such as comment fields
for users. Pew Research Center report the following statistics (see figures 1.1 and
1.2). In that context, a national survey of 1,520 adults conducted March 7 April 4,
2016, finds that Facebook continues to be America s most popular social networking
platform by a substantial margin: Nearly eight in ten online Americans (79%) now
use Facebook, more than double the share that uses Twitter (24%), Pinterest (31%),
Instagram (32%) or LinkedIn (29%). On a total population basis (accounting for
Americans who do not use the internet at all), that means that 68% of all U.S. adults
are Facebook users, while 28% use Instagram, 26% use

Persuasive Essay Writing. How to Write a Persuasive Essay Step by Step - FastEssay.com

  • 1. Persuasive Essay Writing Crafting a persuasive essay on the subject of "Persuasive Essay Writing" poses a unique challenge. The inherent paradox lies in the need to not only convey information effectively but also to persuade the reader to adopt a specific viewpoint. This task demands a delicate balance between logical reasoning, eloquent expression, and a deep understanding of the audience's potential reservations. To begin with, one must delve into the complexities of persuasive writing itself. It requires a meticulous choice of words, a thorough understanding of the target audience, and an ability to present a compelling argument. Moreover, one must navigate the fine line between being assertive and respectful, ensuring that the persuasive elements are not overshadowed by aggression or condescension. Another layer of difficulty arises from the need to research and gather relevant information to fortify the essay's arguments. The writer must sift through a myriad of sources, discerning credible information from biased or unreliable content. This process not only demands time but also a keen analytical eye to distinguish between facts and opinions. Furthermore, the challenge lies in organizing the essay coherently. The structure must be strategically designed to lead the reader through a logical progression of ideas, building a persuasive momentum. This involves careful consideration of the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, each playing a crucial role in influencing the reader's stance. However, the most formidable obstacle might be the art of anticipating and countering potential counterarguments. A persuasive essay is not only about presenting one's viewpoint but also about preemptively addressing opposing perspectives. This requires a level of foresight and the ability to address objections with tact and precision. In conclusion, writing a persuasive essay on the intricacies of persuasive essay writing is, without a doubt, a challenging undertaking. It demands a nuanced understanding of rhetoric, a commitment to thorough research, and the finesse to navigate the intricate dance between persuasion and information dissemination. It is a task that calls for both intellect and artistry, making it a formidable challenge for any writer. If you find yourself overwhelmed or short on time, consider seeking assistance. Surgical Apparel And Treatment Of Hair Removal Skill #5 Kirstin Krueger #21839116 Surgical apparel https://youtu.be/ DgvJ1PGTwQ Closed donning up close https://youtu.be/egeareLYkQc For Each Surgery: Before the procedures I gathered the supplies needed A surgery pack, suture material, gloves and a gown for the doctor, and I set up the surgery table by turning it on and covering it with a clean towel. I then made sure that the oxygen level was on full and that the isoflurane in the anesthesia machine was full. I made sure that the correct size breathing tubes and bag were also on the machine, surgery fluids were hung and ready to be connected to the patient, and the monitoring machine we have was ready to go. Recap from Skill #1 and #2: Preparation Done in the prep room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As soon as the patient is positioned on the table, a thorough skin prep is completed. With new, clean scrub, we clean the skin with chlorhexidine scrub from the prep tray, then rinse scrub with alcohol squares. This is repeated a total of 3 times, since the all gross debris has been removed from our first scrub. I begin each scrub in the center of the scrubbed area, over the planned incision site, and scrub in a bulls eye pattern toward the periphery, never going back to the center with the same gauze sponge. The skin preparation should be thorough but gentle to avoid unnecessary skin trauma. The final application of chlorhexidine solution is allowed to remain on the skin. It is important that the skin preparation is started as soon as the animal is on the surgery table to allow for maximum scrub and contact time between antimicrobial and the skin. After skin prep is complete, finish securing legs and make final adjustments in lighting. Limbs are tied to help stabilize the patient. Soft ropes are double looped over each leg. One loop above the carpus and one below on the front legs, and one loop above and below the tarsus on the hind legs are sufficient to hold the animal s legs. The legs are tied to the surgical table without slack in the rope using a quick release knot if possible. (This is also known as the halter tie knot used in livestock and can be quickly released in case the patient needs to be repositioned in an emergency) In large, deep chested
  • 3. Analysis Of The Movie Big Two Hearted River With the availability of mass media in these times, we can view the horrors of war on a daily basis. During World War I (WW I) these were only in the minds of our veterans. Mr. Hemingway s story of a returning WW I soldier, Big Two Hearted River , parts one and two, actually may be representative of his own life experiences. The story starts as Nick, returns to his home after presumably fighting for his country in WW I. He decides to return to a favorite place of his youth to go fishing and decompress from the toils of war. Throughout this short story, he uses symbols of how war can influence the environment, man s internal struggles, and one man s struggle to return to normalcy. Many know of the negative effect war has on human s, but we must also consider the environmental side. Mr. Hemingway effectively describes this negative impact on nature. He paints a picture of his place of solace that is partially charred and closely resembles how a WW I battlefield is depicted in most textbooks. He notices that there are no buildings left of a town that he once knew. No trees were left standing and it even appeared that, Even the surface had been burned off the ground (Perkins 164). This resulted in the black soot that Nick noticed on the grasshoppers. He noticed that they were not like were not the big grasshoppers with yellow and black or red and black wings whirring out from their black wing sheathing (Perkins 164). They were covered in the black soot and he
  • 4. Representation Of Characterism In Picnic At Hanging Rock... Joan Lindsay, the renowned author of the distinguished Australian novel Picnic at Hanging Rock, has foreground the representation of Victorian society as repressed and constrained through the characterisation of various figures throughout the novel. The riveting tale follows the mysterious disappearance of three girls and a teacher, with only one girl to ever be seen again, during the Appleyard College s trip to the mystic Hanging Rock on Valentine s Day in 1900. One of the main focuses in the book is the depiction of the Victorian Society as uptight and controlled, which has been developed by various characters, including Miss McCraw, Mrs Appleyard and Mademoiselle. Miss McCraw, the peculiar mathematics teacher, is one of the least likely to go missing. However this is exactly what occurs and through this uncharacteristic disappearance a notion is presented that excessive repression results in extreme methods of release. The characterisation of Mrs Appleyard, combined with that of Miss McCraw, also develops the readers understanding of Victorian society and how rigid social constraints will eventually breakdown. In contrast, Mademoiselle, the passionate arts teacher, juxtaposes the previously mentioned characters by being kind and affectionate towards the girls. The characterisation of these individuals throughout Picnic at Hanging Rock contributes to the overall portrayal of Victorian society as uptight and suppressed and progresses the reader s understanding of this
  • 5. Jellicle Cats Dance Essay The dance piece Jellicle cats is an adaptation of the full dance price from the musical Cats, which focuses on Jazz and acrobatic skills and techniques. The intention of the dance jellicle cats was easily interpreted by the audience. The dance intention of the choreography is for the dancer to symbolise sly cats. • 6. The Civil Rights Movement And Mccarthyism The Roman epic film genre was extremely popular in the 50s and 60s for its spectacle and relevance to the contemporary social and political atmosphere. During this time period, WWII created a growing uneasiness and hatred for evil dictatorships; simultaneously, Christianity was becoming more important to establish the superiority of the United States. Then, at the forefront of American politics was the Civil Rights movement and McCarthyism, which prompted Americans to live up to the Christianreligion they adopted. Generally, Christians and Christianityin the Roman epic films of the 50s and 60s were utilized to characterize protagonists opposing tyrannical Roman antagonists; the role of Christians and the polarity in the films becomes less explicit to fit historical accuracy and changing contemporary politics. This essay will analyze the general role of Christians and their gradually subdued explicit presence through time in the movies, Quo Vadis (Zimbalist 1951), Ben Hur (Zimbalist 1959), Spartacus (Douglas 1960), and The Fall of the Roman Empire(Bronston 1964). Quo Vadis has a plot dependent on the plight of innocent, peaceful Christians against the evil tyranny of the antichrist, Nero, which is revealed in the opening narration (Zimbalist 1951). There is an obvious polarization between the Roman elite, especially Emperor Nero, and the Christians. Nero s massacre of the Christians would resonate clearly with American audiences at the time as a parallel to the

  • 9. The Effect Of Strain Gauge Rosette Used For Multi Channel... Abstract While calculating the results from the collected data, the thin plate shows non linear behaviour such that stress does not vary linearly with strain. In theory when pressure is concentrated at the centre of a circular plate, stress value decreases with respect to increasing radial distance from the centre. However in this case, we see that there are two principal stresses and they behave differently than one another. This experiment will introduce us to a new strain gauge called strain gauge rosette used for multi channel strain measurement and other equations to calculate principal stresses and strains in a two dimensional state. Introduction For a thin circular plate, stress and strain usually occur in a two dimensional state. As it is difficult to measure stress, strains are instead measured in real life practices and its corresponding stress values are calculated. The most popular measuring tool for strain is the strain gauge. Since strain is the measure of change in displacement over the original dimension of a structure, the measuring tool must be sensitive enough to detect that small change in displacement. Thus, we can learn how to handle sensitive measuring equipment and ways to ensure that the data collected is as accurate as possible and also to omit any errors that will affect the final calculation. Besides that, we can broaden our knowledge on multi channel strain measurements because in reality two dimensional strains are not
  • 10. Similarities And Differences Between The Knight And The... Along the pilgrimage of Geoffrey Chaucer s prologue of The Canterbury Tales, the narrator describes two distinct characters, the Knight and the Pardoner. The characters share somewhat similar lifestyles, but they are undoubtedly different people in temperament, only traveling with the same group to see the Archduke of Canterbury, Thomas Г Becket. The Pardoner is a man of the church who sells indulgences, a method of being forgiven by paying money to the church, but this Pardoner greedily takes money and bribes for his personal exploitation. The other character, the Knight, has just finished fighting for the sovereign in holy wars and wishes to give thanks for all he has done and been fortunate to have. Although the Knight and the Pardoner are both experienced in their respective professions, these ultimately contrasting characters reinforce the idea that power does not always lead to corruption. In comparison, the literary elements describing idealize the Knight to show his nobility despite his position of power while the Pardoner clearly exemplifies power leading to corruption through satire and sarcasm. The narrator portrays the Knight as a most distinguished man who is as modest as a maid (Chaucer 43, 71). By using an epithet with such a positive connotation, the Knight is idealized to be the perfect knight in shining armor, and by furthering his persona to be exceedingly humble, especially in likeness of a low class servant, the Knight illustrates an extraordinary

  • 12. Depleted Uranium Research Paper Depleted uranium is a type of radioactive material that is produced during the Uranium enrichment process (WHO, N.D., p.1). The enriched uranium is removed from the depleted portions and used for various purposes such as production of nuclear weapons or nuclear power plants; the depleted portions are used for, among other things, military munitions. These munitions are not highly radioactive but could they be used for a RDD? Depleted uranium is used for military purposes because of its incredible density (HPS, 2010, p.1). The material is harder than steel and serves as an excellent armor piercing round. The material is not used for its radiation producing properties or to poison the target. It has been used around the world for military purposes since before the 1980s. Health risks to soldiers using the depleted uranium ammunitions are considered low because the round produces very low radiation which is not in excess of acceptable levels (HPS, 2010, p.2). However depleted uranium can be dangerous in two ways: if it is embedded in the body or material near the impact site is inhaled. Both ways require that the material enter the body. This means that residual radiation put off by an RDD explosion using depleted uranium would not be an issue, just the debris and dust created by the explosion. If a person inhales the dust or gets a piece of the depleted uranium lodged under the skin the radiation produced will, over time, lead to significant health effects, most ... There is also concern for the additional health risks related to weight gain and short stature and the effects that will come from it. Once the decision was made to start estrogen therapy and compromise growth, it then became incredibly easier for doctors and parents to partake in an invasive hysterectomy without considering the moral and ethical objections.

Having mealtime together is important to our social and cultural well being. For parents today it is important to have at least one mealtogether a day, having the children help prepare the meal, and making conversation at the dinner table. Having at least one meal a day together can have a large impact. Such as with manners, not only at the table but social cues. As how to share or pass foodwith others. When having meals together there is also a better chance of healthier foods, rather than unhealthier food choices. Studies show that the more often families eat together, the less likely kids are to smoke, drink, do drugs, get depressed, develop eating disorders, and consider suicide and the more likely they are to do well in school, delay having sex, eat their vegetables, learn big words, and know which fork to use (Gibbs 212). Purpose Of Bail Bonds The basic concept of what we know as bail bonds today evolved from way back in the 13th century, where the primary purpose of bail bonds were to draw less distinctions among the wealthy, the middle class and the poor. With bail bonds companies, a bondsman accepts a certain percentage of the bail money needed, and in return, they will post the rest for the individual charged of crime and awaiting their day in the court system. What has changed is that in the past, only those who had enough funding or property could post their bond as security and be released as the trial was pending. The alarming amount of wide spread disease was a big fear amongst plantation workers because many slaves were scared that they too would catch something and die due to the lack of medications and care. Many may even say that industrialization has made what the United States is what it is today. Despite this, there are many negative impacts industrialization has brought upon American society. The three major impacts that industrialization has made pertain to its impact on social classes, where there came to be a much larger gap between the upper and working classes, an increase in urbanization, which lead to many problems of its own, which spanned to overpopulation as well as immigration, and lastly, the impact it had on women, which overall determined what kind of position they had within American society. In the article, The Code of the Streets by Elijah Anderson, he begins to take an in depth look at the root of the evil. He deduces that economic factors, parenting and the troublesome environments largely influence the violent norms within this culture. Anderson notes that two groups coexist simultaneously in the inner cities which he labels as the decent and the streets. Although both groups suffer economic difficulties, they differ in values mainly instilled through parenting and the home environment. Robberies, violence and drug dealing transgressions are a constant fear of many. The decent families although opposed to the norms of the ghetto, encourage their children to understand and respect the code of the streets in an effort to protect themselves. Also, many youths in the inner cities try to behave as others within their sub culture. A child might dress or speak a certain way that a race is labeled to be standard to fit in. For example, a Caucasian individual may dress in baggy clothes and speak in slang in public to imitate what people label the African Americanyouth to be uniform. However, this individual in some instances could act completely different at home or in other environments such as family gatherings or church. Anderson begins to analyze the troubled culture by first looking at the home environment and behaviors during childhood. The values differ drastically between the two groups. He states that the decent families are typically working families and try to instill positive values in their children. They hope to provide a nurturing environment and aid their children in pursuing a successful future. They are involved in their performance in school and have home rules to abide by. They have curfews for their children and generally know where and whom they are with at all times, especially young children. They also had 9 Crusades, or 9 times when they would attack to get the Holy Land, against the Muslims and Jews, but mostly against the Muslims. During those battles there were both positive and negative. Were the results of the Crusades more positive or negative? The Crusades were more negative than positive because they worsen their relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, they destroyed and betrayed their closest ally, and their towns or cities were difficult to handle. One reason why the Crusades were more negative than positive was because they worsen their own relationship with the Jews and Muslims, or religious hatred, even tho they were bad anyways. Horror is among the most famous genres of film and literature since it is usually aimed at giving the audience a chilling or shocking experience. Monsters in such films and novels have long been objects of both fascination and fear. From intergalactic aliens to medieval dragons, the monster has always revealed people s fascination with mystical beings and what it means to be human. The use of Monsters in films and literature captures the imagination and embodies the fears and concerns of their audiences. Every culture has its way of representing mysterious situations and channel their intense fears and nightmares caused by such situations through the figure of a monster. The creation of monsters in horror films and literature varies on the writer s perception of monsters and what various cultures find horrible and frighten. According to Bruce F. For instance, Kawin s defines a monster to an imaginary creature made up of the parts of two or more animals, one of which might be a human (Kawin 99) Kawin braces monster s definition by comparing the following

Juvenile justice advocates supports the differences on the youthful offenders. Juvenile crime policy over the course of the twentieth century talks about transferring the law s conceptions of young offenders. Starting from the nineteenth century, many of the youths were tried and punished as adults. However, treatment of juveniles in the United States started to change. Reformers created a way where juveniles can be housed in special facilities. Their mission was to protect juvenile offenders by separating them from adults. Juvenile justice system focuses primarily on rehabilitation and help youths avoid a future of crime. Since then there have been many milestones and historical evolutions that can make juvenile justice an effective system. Because there was no real separate court or jail for juveniles in the nineteenth century, juveniles were treated on the same level as every other adult justice system allowing them susceptible to the same punishments as adults. In the beginning of the nineteenth century, society changed their views and how they viewed juvenile offenders. During the early years of the juvenile justice system, three major milestones have occurred; the child saving movement, the concept of parens patriae, and the Illinois Juvenile Court Act. There are several types of defense mechanisms; the main ones that I can remember using are regression, denial, projection, repression, rationalization, and displacement. In my life, I have only known one person that has past that I have cared about. When she past a couple years ago, I just did not want to believe it. I stayed up almost every night that week, trying to think that it was not real and it was only a dream. Still to this day, I try to tell myself it is not real, but reality hits me and she will always be gone.
