Duong Thu Huong s Paradise Of The Blind
An Analysis of Duong Thu Huong s Application of Audio in Paradise of the Blind During the
turbulent setting of post war Vietnam, Duong Thu Huong projects the chaos experienced by her
characters through auditory expression and musical elements. Primarily a bildungsroman, Paradise
of the Blind portrays the protagonist, Hang, guided by her hometown s chants and foreign
influences. Although the timeline of this novel is nonlinear, aspects like the cripple s chant
consistently transform, adapting to Hang s level of maturity and emotional progression. Huong
demonstrates Hang s journey physically and emotionally. Young Hang lives a life of silent
confusion, with a void left by her absent father. Huong therefore fills the void with cacophonies,...

Sound dispersing from the workings of her hometown Hanoi are embedded in her memory, as
Hang is capable of recalling them comprehensively in her flashbacks. Her fatherless, turbulent
youth was represented through a physical journey on a train, during which the Russian singer
Pugatnova s voice navigated her away from fear and into a new world. Maturity and growth are
encompassed by Hang s changing discernment of the cripple s song, which followed her from
childhood to adulthood. This reiteration of sound in different forms constructs a support for Hang
s growth. Huong s exploration of sound stays true to the novel s title, Paradise of the Blind, as one

IDE Essay
What is the link between production and implementation? I feel it can be described as a
Development Environment. Can Development Environments manage various computer languages,
in order to teach the fundamentals of programming?
IDEs or Integrated Development Environments are applications that can help assist
developers(programmers) with developing software. The first developmental environments were
command based, and didn t look like the menu driven, graphical interfaces of today. In the
programming world there was a need for a more responsive and visual interface. IDEs were created
in the 20th century mostly in European universities. The purpose of an IDE I to maximize
programmer efficiency by tailoring menus and shortcuts toward a specific programming language
operation. IDEs can support more than one programming language, for multiple software projects.
Introduction
These are the steps developers use when creating an application using an IDE:
1) Create a project to analyze Design and Implementation of desired algorithm
2) Editing a project Generating the source code
3) Assemble a project Converting mnemonics into hex or binary; generates an objects file
4) Link a project Uses the object file and generates the binary code
5) Execute a project Perform the tasks specified by instruction codes
6) Simulate a project Execute the program on PC (also called the simulator)
7) Debugging a project Going through the program step by step to find logical

Alcohol Mixed With Energy Drinks
Energy drinks are beverages that contain a considerably higher amount of caffeine than other
caffeinated drinks such as coffee or cola. It has been heavily speculated that the levels of alcohol
mixed with energy drinks (AmED) consumption along with just alcohol consumption is alarmingly
high among college students both in Australia and around the world. It has also been found that
around twenty five percent of students drink alcoholic beverages mixed with energy drinks at least
monthly. Researchers attempt to divulge into why it is that students consume alcoholmixed with
energy drinks, what their motives are, what risks are associated with consumption, and possible
effects and results that may eventuate from this behaviour.

Insurance Industry Risks
Introduction
The averaging out of independent risks in a large portfolio is called diversification. The principle
of diversification is used routinely in the insurance industry. In this paper I will talk about two
different types of home insurance and talk about the different risks associated with each.
Discussion
A portfolio is used to describe a collection of securities. In finance, the risk of an individual security
differs from the risk of a portfolio composed of similar securities. In order to help us understand
why, Chapter 10 in the book gave a great example on insurance companies.
Let s consider two types of home insurance: theft insurance and earthquake insurance. Lets also
suppose that the risk of these two hazards is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fluctuations of a stock s return as a result of firm specific news are independent risks. This means
that they are unrelated across stocks. Independent risks are also known as unsystematic risk. When
many stocks make up a portfolio, the unsystematic risks of each individual stock will average out
and be eliminated through diversification.
Market wide new is news about the economy as a whole and therefore affects all stocks. For
instance, the federal reservce might announce that it will lower interest rates to boost the
economy (311). Fluctuations of a stock s return that are due to market wide news are common
risk. All stocks are affected by this news. Common risk is also referred to as systematic risk. Since
systematic risk affects all firms, it cannot be eliminated through diversification. When firms carry
both systemic and unsystemic risk, only unsystematic risk will be eliminated by diversification
when firms are combined into a portfolio. The volatility will therefore decline until only the
systematic risk remains. Because of this, the volatility of a portfolio is lower than the volatility of
the individual stocks in the portfolio.
Conclusion
The averaging out of independent risks in a large portfolio is called diversification.
Diversification is used routinely in the insurance industry. For example, the theft insurance industry
relies on the fact that the number of claims is relatively predictable in a

Analysis Of The Movie Tony
Bryn slid into the chair opposite Tony, slapping his hand on the table. He nodded briefly to the
waitress as he settled in. Tony eyed the data crystal with mixed feelings.
That s everything I could find on Fancher and his crew, Bryn said without equivocation. Pretty
standard stuff; Fancher is career Fleet. Commanding officer of the Rankori for 6 years, service
record reads like a Fleet novel. Bryn sipped the coffee the waitress placed in front of him,
grimacing at it before adding copious amounts of sugar. XO is Nate Little, came outta the Academy
about the time Fancher took command; third in his class. He stirred the sugar in, then sipped it
again; this time smiling in pleasure.
Anything interesting at all? Tony asked palming the crystal. Bryn shrugged, toying with his spoon.
Not among the Bridge staff. He said softly. But the Rankori s Flight Commander is something
different. His eyes dropped to the table in front of him.
How so? Tony asked eyeing Bryn carefully.
She s only been Fleet for three years, been Flight Commander for 2 of those three years. Bryn s
voice lowered. She s got one hell of a kill record, probably the best that Fleet has to offer. He
nodded toward the data crystal in Tony s hand. Found this in the Fleet archives; it s from about
four months ago. You need to take a look at it, Boss.
Something in Bryn s voice caught his full attention. He flipped open his portable reader and slid the

Cause And Effect Of Tambora
This year marks the 202nd anniversary of the eruption of Mount Tambora. Many have never heard
of this explosion, but Tambora had massive historical effects. Let s explore what this explosion was
and how it impacted culture in the 1800 s. Mount Tambora erupted on the Island of Sumbawa on
April 5th in 1815. It was recorded as the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history (Britannica).
The effect of this massive eruption traveled far beyond the small Indonesian island. It impacted
multiple and incredibly diverse aspects of society across Asia, Europe and North America. It
affected art, literature, transportation, climate, economies, health, opium production and even
American religion.
The volcano had been dormant for hundreds of years and this violent explosion lasted days,
sending ash into the atmosphere (D arcy Wood). At the time, there were both native villagers
living in the area and British officers, as the area was a colony under the British crown. Most of
the surviving records of the explosion come from these British officers, some of whom didn t
actually witness the explosion but heard it and assumed the explosion was from rebels on the
island. A captain of a nearby East India Company ship reported ash falling out of the sky and By
noon, the light that had remained in the eastern part of the horizon disappeared, and complete
darkness had covered the face of day (D arcy Wood). At the time of the explosion another British
subject, Sir Thomas Raffles, was the governor of Java, Indonesia. His compiled record of first
hand accounts confirming the blackened sky and falling ash (Skulls). Similar accounts of
darkness were recorded throughout the region, which was due to the sheer volume of ash that was
released by the volcano. The ash blackened sky was not the only impact of the eruption. The more
far reaching effects of the eruption would not be felt until the summer of 1816, when the eruption
gasses and particles so affected worldwide meteorological patterns that the western world called
1816 The Year Without a Summer .
It is hard to imagine that the eruption of distant Mount Tambora inspired and influenced the work
of many artists and yet is was clearly evident in art and literature across the

The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System
For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating system, and
touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to improve on the process. I
work in the department of corrections and the evaluation system currently implemented is the
managing, accountability, and performance (MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very
susceptible to subjective evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they
receive and for the most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to
properly evaluate each employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their
subordinates exactly the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no
interest. Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not
have any effect on your employment, since pay raises are not based from the appraisal. As you
can imagine this method does little to raise the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in
my opinion needs to be revamped. I would prefer an evaluation based more on objective
performance and behavioral observations. An objective performance rating is based on the
measuring of actual results from employees. Although the Department of Corrections does not
produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are responsible for maintaining a safe and
secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the inmates. These

John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution
Abstract
This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the
impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism,
Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes
into the
impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s
lifetime
and today.
John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the
University of
Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a
leading figure
in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in
Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of
thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many
liberal
causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States.
Because
Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence
related to
the educational system.
Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James.
You can
see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. He leaned heavily
on the
belief that people adapt to their environments and learn to function within them. Although the term

Naturalistic Observation On Door Holding Behavior
The door holding behavior of 63 young adults was observed as they walking through the doors of a
university dining hall. People entering or exiting the building were only considered participants of
the study if they had an opportunity to hold the door for a person behind them; those who walked
through the door without anyone behind them were excluded from the study. Informed consent was
not obtained from the participants.
Design
This naturalistic observation was conducted to observe the door holding behaviors performed by
young adults as a way to examine courteousness, or consideration of others.
Three possible behaviors were identified: Did Not Hold, Held Door, Stepped Aside. A coding of

The experimenter hypothesized that the Hold Door behavior would occur most frequently. The
results of the study support this hypothesis, as more than three fourths of the participants performed

Since college students schedules vary, a more representative sample could have been obtained had
the observations taken place at several different times of day. Additionally, the fact that the study
was conducted at a dining hall may have affected the results, as it is possible that people who did
not have a campus meal plan were unintentionally excluded from the study. Recording door holding
behaviors at multiple different on campus locations may help to establish a more representative

The results of the study reinforce previous findings that back clinical data, advocating for the use
of dietary supplements alongside making lifestyle changes. In 1999, a study looking at the
effectiveness of Reducol and low fat diet in lowering cholesterol levels was conducted by
McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In the study involving 32 subjects, patients who took
1.g a day of Reducol branded sitosterol with sterol combination recorded a remarkable LDL
reduction of up to 24% compared to a reduction of 9% for those who relied on low fat diet. In the
study, no remarkable increases in plasma sterol were recorded, a fact that suggests the sterols were

Thomas G. Weinandy s Essay Who Is Israel
The questions, what does it suggest in saying that this new solidarity, effected by Christ, is what we
call the Church, and what does this imply concerning the importance of visible communion as a
visible solidarity among those renewed in Christ? become answerable by revisiting and binding
together the three original questions presented at the start of the course. These original questions,
Who is Israel, Who is Jesus, and Who is the church, demonstrate a synchronistic relationship with
each other. By reviewing them and, illustrating their connectivity we can begin to see how one can
draw inferences regarding the new visual solidarity manifested in the church.

Augustine, with Jesus as its head and us as the body, shows an intimacy between the Head and
the body leading us to mystical union with Christ. Continuing, Augustine insists not only will
Christ make us one in Him, but one person, and that the church s structure reflects not a series of
individuals but a unity speaking as one. St Gregory demonstrates this in his expositions on the
Psalms, Psalm 60, The psalm, he says, speaks as though one single person is praying. But it is
not a lone individual; it is a unity speaking as one. In Christ, He molds us into one person whose
head is in heaven and whose limbs are toiling on earth. Gregory the Great echoes Augustine s
usage of the word person in the same way. He says, Our redeemer has shown himself to be one
person with the holy Church, whom he has taken to himself. Hence, one can conclude that as
members united with Christ as the body to the head, Christ transfigured us into his selfless gift of
love. Throughout scripture the imagery depicting a bridegroom s love for his spouse helps to
understand this

Essay on Nibco s Big Bang
NIBCO s Big Bang : SAP Implementation In 1994, after a significant strategic planning effort
took place, NIBCO Inc., decided to implement a plan to, Go Live with a new SAP program.
(Brown, Dehayes, Hoffer, Martin amp; Perkins. 2012) The reasons behind NIBCO s decision to
implement and ERP System are those that are familiar to other companies who have made the same
decision. One of the key conclusions from the strategic planning that led to the ERP implementation
was that the organization could not prosper with its current information systems. (Brown, Dehayes,

In the case of NIBCO, it was not beneficial to their staff to put a rush on implementing the new
SAP program because this rush made it hard on employees and their families because the
employee had to work harder and longer. Having this type of work environment on a daily basis
could definitely lead to stress at home. The Boston Consulting group (BCG) was brought in to
help the company develop a strategic information systems plan to meet its new business
objectives. The fact that they were recommending a three to five year phased ERP implementation
system was not the best approach because it would take too long to implement. (Brown, Dehayes,
Hoffer, Martin amp; Perkins. 2012) Another con in the implementation plan was the fact that
NIBCO would have to commit a significant portion of its resources in order to quickly put in
place the systems to execute the new supply chain and customer facing strategies. (Brown,
Dehayes, Hoffer, Martin amp; Perkins. 2012) In implement that SAP program, it seemed as if it
would have benefited NIBCO better if the management consultants would have known more about
ERP and or SAP so it would not be difficult to apply their principles. (Brown, Dehayes, Hoffer,

Environmentalism in Watership Down by Richard Adams Essay
The small group of rabbits that left their original warren, Sandleford, to find a new home often
uses their little spare time to listen to stories generally told by Dandelion. These stories are often
about the Thousand Enemies and how they are a threat to the rabbits, especially El ahrairah.
Humans are presented as one of the Thousand. The author of the book, Richard Adams, displays
man in a negative way because of this. Man is portrayed as violent, nonsensical, and abusive to the
natural way of life. In the book, Watership Down, Richard Adams portrays the life and style of man
in a negative way.

Humans are associated with a senseless and violent view of the world and life in general which
leads to both a horrible life and death of creatures of the wild ( Literature in Brief Information
about Watership Down. ). The machines the rabbits encounter are very much a threat to their well
being. The cars they come across are very unnatural to the rabbits being faster than a rabbit, and don
t notice a rabbit at all ( Literature in Brief Information about Watership Down. ). The violence of
a machine such as a car is underestimated until the group comes across the dead yona, a hedgehog
overrun by a vehicle (Adams 49). Adams emphasizes the violence of the deed by describing the
creature as a flattened, bloody mass of brown prickles and white fur, with small black feet and
snout crushed round the edges. The flies crawled upon it, and here and there the sharp point of
gravel pressed up through the flesh (Adams 49). The rabbits do not see a point in such a violent
act, for an animal like a yona cannot do much more than threaten slugs and beetles, and nothing
would eat a yona either. Although Efrafa seems like a totally evil place, the reason for such evilness
lies in the treatment of humans. The whole purpose of keeping Efrafa under total control was to
keep humans from finding out about it and causing the white blindness (Adams 233).Yes, the whole

From the classical period until present day, artists have attempted to portray Aeschylus The

must first become familiar with the subject of the myth they depict. According to Greek and
Roman mythology, the Furies were female spirits of justice and vengeance. Known especially for
pursuing people who had murdered family members, the Furies punished their victims by driving
them mad. There are various stories on the origin of the Furies. According to Hesiod s Theogony,

Currently housed in the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia is one of his most famous
painting The Remorse of Orestes (1862). At the center of the painting, we have Orestes naked
except for a discreet white drapery. With and look of pure anguish he attempts to cover his ears
as the Furies appear to be screaming behind him. Behind him to the left of the painting, we see
Clytemnestra in a white dress, draped in a disarranged red cloak, with a dagger in her heart. As
Clytemnestra is falling, one of the Furies holds her up. It is as if the murder has just taken place
and Orestes is immediately regretting his actions, and one of the Furies is refusing to let
Orestes burry the sense of guilt he feels. Another of the Furies is holding a torch, which similarly
to the last painting discussed, could be symbolic of the Furies enacting justice for the crime of
matricide. All of the Furies are partially clothed and have their characteristic snake like hair. The
positioning of the Orestes body and face looking away from the Furies also adds to the
overarching theme of the painting. It is as if he cannot face what he has done, he cannot even
look at the Furies, let alone try to justify his actions. No matter how he tries to run from the crime,
he will never be able to get away from it. This all encompassing dread is not something that Orestes
can escape even after being pardoned for his crime; it is something that he will have to live with for
the rest of his life. The canvas is 7.5 feet by 9 feet and reflects how important the message of the
painting that the guilty feel an unceasing torment that they cannot escape is to the artist. When
submitting the painting Bouguereau wrote about his painting

Everyman Death
Throughout the 98th to 130th lines of Everyman , which is Death s first conversation with
Everyman, his intentions of why he is there and what is his purpose are revealed. Unlike other
medieval morality plays, such as Mankind for example, the inner workings of this character is
made overtly obvious; Death is directly addressing the other character on stage and not the
audience. Death s oration lasts a good few pages however the crucial part of this almost religious
deliverance of purpose for Everyman is within these 32 lines for it is here that Death reveals that
he is an agent of Godbringing forth God s task for humanity. Death being a significant figure during

ultimate goal when it is humanity s time to pass, as this means their soul will get into Heaven,
during the medieval time period there was an ultimate need for the resolve of what happens
after a person dies most prominently in the belief of an afterlife. Death outright tells Everyman
that he has done more bad deeds than good and this is why Death is here to deliver a reckoning
and he is here to deliver such a reckoning in a way which does not grant Everyman time to truly

and requirement of an immediate action but it is the word respite that the true forcefulness is
revealed. The word when used in modern terms, according to the OED, is a short break in events
but when Death uses it, the term respite implies the tone of hurry and without delay as defined

Prana Is An Ethical Company
The hypothesis for this paper is that prAna is a very ethical company. They have a commitment to
their employees, their customers, and to the environment. PrAna was founded in 1992 by Beaver

Living currently operates as a subsidiary of Columbia SportswearCompany, who has a commitment
to high ethical standards in its employees, manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors (Columbia

and manufacturers, customers, distributors, Columbia Sportswear, founders, and the board of
directors. On the prAna website there is a page that highlights the different endeavors of its
employees and business partners. They are featured and their interests are supported. A larger
portion of their website is dedicated to the environment (PrAna, 2014b). PrAna has changed
ownership since it was founded in 1992, yet the majority of their original employees are still a
part of the company (PrAna, 2014e) (Lutz, 2013). The board of directors is rarely mentioned. The
original founder Beaver Theodosakis remains involved with the company and is a member of the
board (Steelpoint Capital Partners, 2014). Throughout the ownership changes, they have remained
dedicated to their goal of corporate responsibility even when it reduced profit margins, such as
using organic cotton (Crooke Sathe, 2010).
Company Message on Ethics
PrAna lacks a formal code of ethics; however, as a subsidiary of Columbia Sportswear, they are

Hip Hop Cultural Movement
Hip Hop is both a cultural movement as well as a music genre. Hip hop originated in the
predominantly African American economically depressed South Bronx section of New York City
in the late 1970s. As the hip hop movement began at society s margins, its origins are shrouded in
myth, enigma, and obfuscation. (Alan Light, 2016). In the mid 1980s the next wave of rappers,
the new school, came to prominence. At the forefront was Run D.M.C., a trio of middle class
African Americans who fused rap with hard rock, defined a new style of hip dress, and became
staples on MTV as they brought rap to a mainstream audience. Run D.M.C.

As the 16th president, Abraham Lincoln was known to be the greatest American President. He
guided his country through one of the most catastrophic experiences in its history, the Civil War.
He was a very unique president, being the first president to have a beard, being the tallest president

the 4 year term he had served before being assassinated. With his intelligence and hard work, he

Risk Assessment of Terrorism
Introduction A risk assessment happens to be a crucial element in recognizing mitigation measures.
It comprise of evaluating capability, cause, chance, and targeting. Assessing threats accurately is a
challenge for many countries. In most instances, attaching concerns to tangible and prospective
threats to a country security that is mostly open to policy makers remains a problem. Even agencies
that are generously and of highly, superior intelligence struggles to plan logical and well timed
threat assessments across the security scale. Risk assessment Terrorism is a main challenge to
assess the threats associated with the issue. The act comprise of unstructured associations of
extremely mobile individuals, whose objectives are nearly impractical to weigh without access to
consistent and appropriate human intelligence as terrorist groups remain indefinable. Nevertheless,
assessing the threats from terrorist in the recent years is a significant preoccupation for security
agencies found in the Western countries. Faced with the common, destructive nurture related to
international terrorism common in the contemporary world, evaluating the degree and the threat
scope is critical (Zanders et al 2000). This makes selection of threats to help choose appropriate
measures to defend the state interests, which is a main concentration for political leaders in
Western countries. The fear that many terrorists resorts to usage of mass destruction weapons is
nothing unusual. The range of

communication remained the strength of the calypsonian, well after slavery. They were experts in

The Prayer Of The Pharisees
Something that God spoke to me through my devotions one morning this semester was that
knowledge without action is dead, and that action in my life will lead to action in the lives of
others. We were reading through Matthew 23 and 24, and in verses 3 4 of chapter 23 it says,
referring to the Pharisees, ...so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the work they do.
For they preach, but do not practice. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on
people s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger. I already
knew this was the attitude of the Pharisees, but this particular morning I felt like God was opening
my eyes to how I can apply this passage in my own life. Not only do I need to... Show more content

In addition to that sort of thing, I have noticed a few issues in the world and in ministry today
that I believe need to be addressed. The first is a distorted view of who God is. There are so
many people today that are angry with God or even believe that God is angry with them, or they
see God as this harsh and demeaning God who simply demands us to follow all sorts of rules and
regulations. I believe that this is one of the biggest issues, in and beyond the American culture that
people have with God. Unfortunately, we as Christians misrepresent God all of the time, and this
gives those that do not know Christ a very distorted view of God and what His character is like.
Rather than seeing God s character of love and truth, they see rules, regulations, inconsistencies,
and so on and so forth. This must change. To help rid people of this inaccurate view of who God
is, it is vital to walk through the salvation story with them. I learned in my Polity class about how
the salvation story is all throughout Scripture. Not only can we see this in the New Testament,
but it is throughout the entire Old Testament as well. This is something that I had never realized
before, but once I did I was able to see how God truly desires relationship with us. Relationship is
huge with God. This is not because He is in some way lacking relationship for there is perfect
relationship within the Trinity but, because of His character of love, He desires for us to

Other accounts state that Ezekiel went to Babylonia where he kept in touch with Judah, thereby
addressing both communities in a single entry. Nevertheless, whether in Judah or Babylon, Ezekiel
continued to prophesize to the Judeans, before and after the exile of the remaining Hebrews. Before
the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple, Ezekiel prophesized about the total destruction of
Jerusalem, brought on by the Judean s guilt.
Ezekiel, at first, was a reluctant prophet. Unlike other prophets he was married, therefore had
responsibilities to people other than himself. The symbolic scroll, mentioned in the second and
third chapters of Ezekiel. But you mortal, hear what I say to you; do not be rebellious like the
rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you. I [Ezekiel] looked, and a hand was
stretched out to me, and a written scroll was in it... (Cook 1187), was at first bitter but soon
turned sweet. This was a metaphor for God s words, which Ezekiel was reluctant to speak, that
in time became easier to swallow. Ezekiel after this point became the watcher of the house of
Israel, responsible for their survival (Howe 204). Ezekiel s call meant if the Judeans did not heed
Ezekiel s word and repent, God s wrath would overtake them. However, since the chief priesthood
of the day, Zadokites, controlled the temple and believed in the

the cities. In Castile the discontentment of the ruling classes was joined to that of the
handicraftsmen and labourers, in Valencia the movement was exclusively one of mechanics and
the proletariat. The rebellion failed because the commercial cities of Southern Castile took no
part in it, and because Charles, acting upon his own judgment, placed Spaniards, instead of
foreigners, in positions of authority. In 1520 Charles left Spain to take possession of the
German Empire to which he had been elected. The French king, Francis I, had been his rival for
the dignity; Leo X thought that his interests in Italy were endangered by Charles election. The
Kingdom of Navarre was already a matter of contention between France and Spain, while France
and the Netherlands wrangled over the original Dukedom of Burgundy as well as Tournai,
Flanders, Artois, and some lesser territories. War had not broken out over these questions, and
nothing indicated that Charles would be a warlike prince; but he had broken the alliance with
France made under ChiГЁvres. The Holy See opposed the election of Charles even more
vigorously than France. As King of Aragon, Charles was heir to the Kingdom of Naples, a papal

Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle
(Gibbs G, 1988)
The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about
the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing
the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every
stage is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses.
Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the
patient s family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, Tabbner, 2013). All
these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to
analyze the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround
nurses are disagreement between the nurse and the patient s family, rudeness from fellow workers,
physical injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After
describing the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation.
Description of the feelings will help increase self awareness of the consequences in a positive way
and effects of the problem.
After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step
will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences
without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for

Moving To Springfield Analysis
Assuming that hundreds of former city dwellers do indeed move to Springfield every year, then it
is plausible that the author is correct in that these city dwellers do appreciate Springfield because it
has a rural setting an small town atmosphere . However, the author presents no proof concerning
that this is truly the rationale behind citydwellers move to Springfield. As such, their suggestion that
aggressive planning regulations should be implemented is hogwash because it is based upon a
potentially untrue premise. Additionally, the majority of residents in Springfield may not even
want more newcomers to move in, which further suggests that the author lacks sufficient data to
make any sort of suggestion.
The main flaw in the author s argument is the failure to include any sort of evidence or proof
indicating the new Springfield residents reasons for moving to Springfield. The rationale indicated
by the author is plausible, but plenty of other reasons abound concerning why city dwellers would
move to the more rural Springfield. For instance, the cost of living could be cheaper in Springfield
and the new residents may actually think Springfield is a worse location to live in than the city. In

Explosive Traces and Forensic Analysis
Explosives are used for a variety of applications from military operations to mining. However,
these materials can also be used in criminal investigations such as terrorists who threaten harm or
cause death and destruction. Explosives can be categorised into two main forms: high
explosives and low explosives. High explosives are explosive materials that detonate. This
means that the explosive shock passes through the material at a speed, faster than the speed of
sound. High explosives generally detonate with an explosive velocity ranging from 3 to 9 km/s.
Low explosive are compounds where the rate of decomposition proceeds through the material at
a speed less than the speed of sound. The decomposition is spread by a flame. This is known as
deflagration. Under normal conditions, low explosives undergo deflagration at rates varying from
a few centimetres per second to roughly 400 metre per second. It is possible for low explosives to
deflagrate extremely quickly producing an effect which is similar to detonation of high explosives.
This usually occurs when ignited in a confined space and can happen due to high pressure or high
temperatures. The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives is an important
aspect of forensic investigations. Some methods of detection can also identify the explosives, some
cannot for example the use of canine detection, and the dog can smell the explosive but cannot say
what it is. Techniques for detection and identification

Patients With Newly Diagnosed Hypothyroidism And Their...
Patient education. FNP needs to educate patients with newly diagnosed hypothyroidism and their
caregiver if necessary in regards to its disease process, side effect of medications, importance of
compliance and follow up. Hypothyroidism is often a lifelong condition and therefore it is
important to counsel the patient at the point of diagnosis (Roe, 2015). Taking L thyroxine is the
main treatment mechanism; therefore, medication compliance is the one of the most important part
in education. The clinical effect of L thyroxine may include normalizing abnormalities associated
with hypothyroidism. Optimal treatment of hypothyroidism may lead to improvement of various
symptoms. In neuropsychological aspect, patients may show improved motor skills, myopathy and
depression. With treatment, patient s overall energy level may enhance constipation symptoms may
improve and weight problem may lessen if thyroidbalance was a main contributor. It has been
shown that treatment of hypothyroidism would also improve lipid profiles in patients (Roe, 2015).
Longstanding hypothyroidism is accompanied by impaired function of nearly all organs and
tissues, and the clinical response to replacement therapy may continue for months. Normally, L
thyroxine administration improves clinical symptoms associated with hypothyroidism without
adverse effects. Rare cases of intolerance which may be caused by reaction to tablet colors or other

Cities already established In the East are presented to us as feminine and cultured places,
contrasting with the wild west . In director John Fords The searchers(Ford,1956,US) we see the
iconic John Wayne star in a celebration of the spirt that vanished with the taming of the American
wilderness. This is an indication of the system of the East taking hold and our heros evidently have
no more sunset to ride off into. In the classical Hollywood style of filmmaking, the mise en scene,
which is essentially everything that the audience sees, depicts an external world that sticks to the
norms of realism determinded by the conditions of the story. The film historian Susan Hayward
insisted that shots, lighting, and colour must not draw attention to themselves any more than the

be unobtrusive. The style itself suffers if the audience is reminded they are watching a film. On
occasions when a film does include visual distortions, there is almost always a narrative
justification. In John Hustons film noir masterpiece The Maltese Falcon (John Huston, 1941, US),

tax with a percentage of 47.1% of total tax revenue is taken up by income tax. However questions
must be asked about what if the income tax is changed. The three issues which follow this change
are as follows:
Increasing income tax effects on total revenue/ tax take
Decreasing the income tax effect on fairness, equity and revenue
Tax mix if income tax is increased/ decreased what needs to be decreased/increased
Income level $Amount of tax
0 18,200$0
18,201 37,00019 cents for each $ over $18,200
37,001 80,000$3,572 + 32.5 cents for every $ over $37,000

Under the Howard government in 2003 there was a major economic booms which lead to high
exporting from Australia, including Iron ore and coal. As a result of the economic boom the
corporation tax increased dramatically. The effect of this was for John Howard to decrease the
income tax on five occasions and superannuation concessions were extended. This was John
Howard s gift to the taxpaying middle and upper classes. It was clearly a response perhaps
understandable to the export boom. The trouble was it had the effect of increasing budget deficits
in later years when tax revenues declined. In particular, budget deficits in the Labor (Gillard) years
were increased by Howard s Gift. Even now it has

Characteristics Of Engineering Student
Being a great engineering student is the key to success. A world class engineering student is one
step ahead of that. Being a world class engineering student comes with many capabilities and
qualities. It is an overall image of a great engineering student. To be a world class engineering
student you must understand what it takes to succeed. Working well in a team is a great way to
start. If a student can work well in a team them will be very successful. Most engineers work in
teams to this very day. Not only will you work in a team once you become an engineer but having
a study group will help tremendously. It will allow like minded students to get together and work
hard to achieve the task at hand. A world class engineering student will realize their strengths and
weaknesses. They will hit their strong points and strive to improve their weaknesses. A world class
engineering student will also have great timemanagement skills. Students won t wait until the last
minute to do a project and risk a bad grade. They will start off working on bits and pieces at a
time. Time management is the key to success for many students. This along with all the other
qualities listed will make a world class engineering student. Goalsetting is a major part of being
successful. It gives you something to strive for. A world class engineering student would wantto
have long term and short term goals. This would give a student something to work hard for and
allow them to see progress. The would know exactly what to have set for themselves. The goals
would be realistic and challenging that would push them further and to have a positive affect on
them. I set goals for myself but overall, I need to set more. I have semester long goals which are
great but weekly goals would also be beneficial to me. I have trouble setting goals mainly
because I don t see the big picture. I know I want a great gpa and graduate on time but setting
goals to get there has never really benefited me. I m sure if I set weekly goals such as wanting to
get an a on a test or challenging myself to learn more than what is expected would help. I still
would have trouble because in my opinion everyone strives to accomplish these things. College is
all about this in

An Open Campus is a Bad Idea Essay
Wandering kids. Bumper to bumper traffic. Drug dealing. Is this the picture drawn when local
students have fifty minutes of freedom during lunch to do whatever they please? Students should
not be allowed to leave their school campus during lunch. An open campus would lead to truancy,
disturb local businesses and neighborhoods, and cause crime.
Truancy can occur among students if an open campus is accepted. If students have the privilege to
leave school for fifty whole minutes on their own, then they have the freedom to not come back. It
would break the trust between students and educators, and harsher rules would have to be enforced
on the open campus rule. Numerous students who decide to ditch the remaining periods would ...

Quietness is important to many people doing work in their homes and offices, and this can be
disrupted by groups of students walking around creating a stir. Lunch is possibly one of the most
praised recesses in a day because it is the longest break between work. Students who drive often go
to their favorite restaurants and diners for lunch. They can lead to an increase in traffic in the
school and neighborhood and mostly in the street with other student drivers. These recently
inexperienced and immature drivers are ordinarily involved in acts such as road rage and drag
racing. Accidents can occur with innocent motorists trying to get through the day. Disturbances can
also consist of littering. Students who usually roam the neighborhood and eat lunch do not
properly dispose of their trash and can simply through it anywhere. This waste becomes a
displeasing mess and site for others to see what an open campus can cause.
Numerous types of crimes can be committed if a school allows an open campus during the lunch
hour. Felonies usually occur during times when people are not at home. At lunch, students can
have illegal access to vulnerable houses if they choose to do so when they are wondering around
in the streets. This could lead to a crime increase among a neighborhood, and cause disputes and
problems. Citizens feel safe in their neighborhoods, but crime and robberies can make them feel
uneasy. They would need to purchase state of the art security

Difference Between Modern And Modern Architecture
Contemporary architecture indicates to the style of today s architecture. Its style is not defined;
because it is constantly changing, plus it choses different styles and eras. On the other hand,
Modern Architecture has defined its style. It describes a specific era design, that it leads to the
history of machination and to the 1920s 1950s styles.
Many people mistaken in defining modern architecture and contemporary architecture, say that both
of them are completely the same. This research paper will show you the comparison between both
modern and contemporary architecture, talking about both characteristics, methods and histories.

elements are purely shown in the space, there is nothing that is hidden or hard to look up for.
Modern style has an open floor plan, it shows to the viewer the elements of the structures and as
well the supports. This is why modern style is well known for its simplicity and honesty ; because
all its materials and elements are exposed and brought out to the viewer. Modern style prefers using
lines, in many of its designs there is a constant in the elements and sharp features. All the structural
elements (windows, fireplace, roof lines, staircases...) shows strongly the inspiration of linear
design. This feature is more outstanding in modern style and less in another. In this style, the lines
are either straight or angles but definitely not curved. Modern style aimed also at having more than
one roof line in different levels, rather than using the classical triangle shape style. This shows off
the complication that modern style has in its design. The Varity number of the lines and ceilings

modern style sometimes focuses on the architectural design and having an amazing sculptural

Descriptive Essay About Kahului Airport
As I leave for Oregon I enter the Kahului airport, a fairly familiar site as I ve been here a number
of times for various reasons. Once inside I head to my destination, which isn t too hard to find.
The airport is sparsely populated with people awaiting their flights. On the way to my gate I come
across a hot dogstand selling overpriced hot dogs. With nothing else to eat I bought one for
myself and one for each of my brothers. Aside from each bite being a mouthful of onions, it was
decent enough. Maybe he d make more of a profit if he halved the amount of onions he used on
each hotdog. I sit at one of the seats that linethe aisles to eat my overpriced food. Beside me my
brothers sit and eat their own hotdogs, the seats across the aisle remain empty much like most of
the airport. The time comes to board the plane, the small space is filled and we take off shortly
after. Looking out the window all you can see is the dark of night and the lights coming from the
island. With a long flight ahead, I do my best to rest while I can. Following a six hour flight from
Maui I arrive in San Francisco. I step off the plane and am greeted by a sea of people and an
airport much larger than the one in Kahului. The much more calm feeling of the island is replaced
by the hustle and bustle of the much larger city, quite honestly it s a tad strange. There was not a
moment s rest for these people as they hurried along from one gate to the next. There s no order in
the way people walk, sometimes

David Mcletein Theory Of Needs Theory
This theory of needs was popularized by David McClelland. He is a behavioural psychologist in
American. According to McClelland, the motivators in the theory are learned. That why this theory
sometimes was called the Learned Needs Theory. It was building on earlier work of Henry Murray
in 1928, David McClelland (1961) was make an experiment that the motivation of an individual
might influence from three dominant of needs, which is the Need for Achievement, Power and
Affiliation. These three needs will occur when someone is acting according with their desire and
behaviour.
Firstly, people in the group of the Need for Achievement (N Ach), they likely desire to accomplish
something difficult and do some challenging tasks on a high level. This achievement oriented
people share few common characteristics such as they always try to have success and need to

instruction to his subordinates to do the work. A high needs for institutional power means that
people like to organize the efforts of others to achieve the goals of the organization. High power
people enjoy competition and status oriented positions. While these people are attracted to
leadership roles, the may not possess the required flexibility and people centred skills. It shows
that this people are lack of their credibility in their work. Managers with a high need for

2.Some similarities that I noticed between your hero Yu the Great and my hero Wonder Woman is
that they both are dedicated to protecting the people. Another similarity I noticed is that they both
have natural powers. Wonder Woman has her superhuman strength and Lasso of Truth, while Yu
the Great has the powers given to him by God.
3.Some main differences between Yu the Great and Wonder Woman was that Yu the Great helped
people in relation to growing their food and other crops; Wonder Woman on the other hand, helped
people and defeated her enemies in order to better mankind. Even though both served important
purposes.

An Empirical Analysis of Trends in Psychology

I.Research Question or Problem
The journal article question is clearly stated. The question asks whether the behaviourist, the
psychoanalytic, the cognitive, or the neuroscientific perspective is most intellectually significant
and most prominent in psychology today (Robins, Goling, amp; Craik, 1999, p. 117).
II. Introduction
The introduction presents differing contentions regarding which school of psychology is most
prominent. Five references have been cited in the introduction. It is ... Show more content on

Articles regarding the psychoanalytic and neuroscientific perspective, however, were essentially
non existent throughout the studied period. Authors provided graphs and tables in order to
demonstrate their findings over time for each index (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.121 126).
V.Discussion/Conclusions
Due to their compelling findings, the authors were able to construct several conclusions. Firstly,
psychoanalytic journals, dissertations, and flagship articles have not been in the spotlight of
mainstream psychology for the past several decades (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.123,
124). Secondly, with the focus currently on cognitive psychology, behavioural psychology has and
continues to subside in scientific psychology (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124).
Moreover, the authors state that one reason cognitive psychology is transcending behavioural
psychology is due to the immeasurable role of computers in modern society. For example, thanks to
computers, considerable changes have taken place in regards to scientists understanding of
memory, information processing, etc (Robins, Gosling, amp; Craik, 1999, p.124). Lastly,
mainstream psychology does not yet recognize neuropsychology; however, there is an obvious
increase in popularity that is underway. Authors recommend further research to explore the growing
prominence

Weather In Purple Hibiscus
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s novel, Purple Hibiscus, is an unconventional coming of age novel,
set in postcolonial Nigeria. Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and
her wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili
sees her life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend
a week at her Aunty Ifeoma s house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift
within their family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse,
silence, and political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery
of nature; the text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this
theme. Weatheris one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a
deeper and more subtle meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a
symbolic undertone to illustrate the emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her
newfound freedom in Nsukka. Weather is a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of
the Achikes lives, and yet is the most subtle in illustrating how it evolves. The second chapter of
the book opens with a normal day in the life of Kambili: she is doing her homework when Mama
comes into her room, with Kambili s uniforms in hand, fresh off of the clothesline outside. Kambili
is confused, because cleaning Kambili

The Meaning Of My Grandma
Growing up all the way across the country from my Grandma, there has been one phrase that she
repeatedly says and has been stuck in my head for years. Whenever someone complains, or when
there s a bad situation, she always would say it is what it is . To me this phrase has a great deal of
meanings and has always been words I live by. This phrasealso has most likely been instilled in me
because I look up to my Grandma more than anyone else, and I see her a very wise woman. The
meaning of this phrase my grandma uses, to me means that no matter what happens, it
happened, and it s time to move on from whichever situation occurred. From something as
simple to getting the wrong food order at a restaurant, to your dog passing away. When an event
happens, it happens, and there is no way to reverse time and change what happened. She knows
it s hard obviously when a major event happens, but the only way to get over it is by letting life
go on eventually. She inspires me to have the most positive outlook on life, and has been the one
who has made me extremely optimistic. By saying, it is what it is , it means to me, to be satisfied
in the moment and not complain about the little things. It s easy to complain about being hot or
cold, getting the wrong drink at the coffee stand, or having so much homework, but in the broad
spectrum those are the smallest problems to have. She taught me to have gratitude because she
made me realized how privileged I am, and it helps me to give back

that there are so many products available that it can make your head spin just trying to sort through

their offices:
1. Non harsh soaps and cleansers: Harsh soaps like Dial will dry out your skin and can induce skin

The Use Of Subliminal Messages In Fairy Tales
What are Subliminal Messages that Convey to Girls?
As part of my Research I discovered articles and journals that reveal hidden message in fairy
tales. Many authors published their work on original versions of fairytales, the importance of
beauty, white supremacy in fairy tales, and teachings of adulthood. In some of the journals I
selected were authors who gave their own opinion on fairytales, and they used many sources from
books and other articles. This topic is very interesting because its unrecognized and fairytales is
something children grow up watching. Some of the sources I used speak upon the historical Grim
brothers version tale and classical tales. My objective is to expose fairytales and show their true
meanings.
To accomplish my objective, I organized my paper into sections from eighteenth and nineteenth...

Track And Football Similarities
Many people don t understand every aspect of what goes, or what is happening in every sport.
Yet, when it comes down to each sports there are many aspects that strike as similar, but there are
also many differences. The sports of football and track are both sports that I have experience with
and understand every aspect of the sport. There are many similarities and differences between the
two sports of football and track which define them and make them understandable.
These sports may seem like polar opposites but the similarities between the two are endless. The
similarities include the individual battle to the team aspect of the sport. The event of throwing in
track is very individualized since its only you that steps into the ring. ... Show more content on

Starting with the simplest of differences; in track you throw a sixteen pound ball while in football
the ball is about one pound. The implement that is used in track is a sphere that has is a little bit
larger than your palm. While in football the ball is an inflated, elongated oval that has points at
each end of the ball. Also in football, with the position that I play, I can t legally carry the ball while
in track I have to throw the implement. With one of the similarities between track and football
being the team aspect, but the difference is that track is all individual events while football is one
big event. Track is a sport that has individuals fill roles in a single event, but football has a team of
eleven players working together all at once. Another difference between the two sports is how
points are acquired. In football you are able to acquire points at any time throughout the event.
You can score point such as one point, two points, three points, or six points depending on how
your team decides to score. On the other hand, in track it s only after each event is over, and the
points are awarded to which place you get in your event. First place gets ten points and the point
decrease the worse you place in your event. Also you score points as a team working together in
football, and on the other hand in track you score points individually which add up to a team s score.
Between football and track the lists of similarities and differences are endless. The comparison
between the sports doesn t make one better than the next, it just helps understand it. Finding and
understanding the differences between the two sport help many realize what is happening and how

  • 2. Duong Thu Huong s Paradise Of The Blind An Analysis of Duong Thu Huong s Application of Audio in Paradise of the Blind During the turbulent setting of post war Vietnam, Duong Thu Huong projects the chaos experienced by her characters through auditory expression and musical elements. Primarily a bildungsroman, Paradise of the Blind portrays the protagonist, Hang, guided by her hometown s chants and foreign influences. Although the timeline of this novel is nonlinear, aspects like the cripple s chant consistently transform, adapting to Hang s level of maturity and emotional progression. Huong demonstrates Hang s journey physically and emotionally. Young Hang lives a life of silent confusion, with a void left by her absent father. Huong therefore fills the void with cacophonies,... Her fatherless, turbulent youth was represented through a physical journey on a train, during which the Russian singer Pugatnova s voice navigated her away from fear and into a new world. Maturity and growth are encompassed by Hang s changing discernment of the cripple s song, which followed her from childhood to adulthood. This reiteration of sound in different forms constructs a support for Hang s growth. Huong s exploration of sound stays true to the novel s title, Paradise of the Blind, as one does not need vision to hear what surrounds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. IDE Essay What is the link between production and implementation? I feel it can be described as a Development Environment. Can Development Environments manage various computer languages, in order to teach the fundamentals of programming? IDEs or Integrated Development Environments are applications that can help assist developers(programmers) with developing software. The first developmental environments were command based, and didn t look like the menu driven, graphical interfaces of today. In the programming world there was a need for a more responsive and visual interface. IDEs were created in the 20th century mostly in European universities. The purpose of an IDE I to maximize programmer efficiency by tailoring menus and shortcuts toward a specific programming language operation. IDEs can support more than one programming language, for multiple software projects. Introduction These are the steps developers use when creating an application using an IDE: 1) Create a project to analyze Design and Implementation of desired algorithm 2) Editing a project Generating the source code 3) Assemble a project Converting mnemonics into hex or binary; generates an objects file 4) Link a project Uses the object file and generates the binary code 5) Execute a project Perform the tasks specified by instruction codes 6) Simulate a project Execute the program on PC (also called the simulator) 7) Debugging a project Going through the program step by step to find logical ... • 6. Insurance Industry Risks Introduction The averaging out of independent risks in a large portfolio is called diversification. The principle of diversification is used routinely in the insurance industry. In this paper I will talk about two different types of home insurance and talk about the different risks associated with each. Discussion A portfolio is used to describe a collection of securities. In finance, the risk of an individual security differs from the risk of a portfolio composed of similar securities. In order to help us understand why, Chapter 10 in the book gave a great example on insurance companies. Let s consider two types of home insurance: theft insurance and earthquake insurance. Lets also suppose that the risk of these two hazards is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fluctuations of a stock s return as a result of firm specific news are independent risks. This means that they are unrelated across stocks. Independent risks are also known as unsystematic risk. When many stocks make up a portfolio, the unsystematic risks of each individual stock will average out and be eliminated through diversification. Market wide new is news about the economy as a whole and therefore affects all stocks. For instance, the federal reservce might announce that it will lower interest rates to boost the economy (311). Fluctuations of a stock s return that are due to market wide news are common risk. All stocks are affected by this news. Common risk is also referred to as systematic risk. Since systematic risk affects all firms, it cannot be eliminated through diversification. When firms carry both systemic and unsystemic risk, only unsystematic risk will be eliminated by diversification when firms are combined into a portfolio. The volatility will therefore decline until only the systematic risk remains. Because of this, the volatility of a portfolio is lower than the volatility of the individual stocks in the portfolio. Conclusion The averaging out of independent risks in a large portfolio is called diversification. Diversification is used routinely in the insurance industry. For example, the theft insurance industry relies on the fact that the number of claims is relatively predictable in a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Analysis Of The Movie Tony Bryn slid into the chair opposite Tony, slapping his hand on the table. He nodded briefly to the waitress as he settled in. Tony eyed the data crystal with mixed feelings. That s everything I could find on Fancher and his crew, Bryn said without equivocation. Pretty standard stuff; Fancher is career Fleet. Commanding officer of the Rankori for 6 years, service record reads like a Fleet novel. Bryn sipped the coffee the waitress placed in front of him, grimacing at it before adding copious amounts of sugar. XO is Nate Little, came outta the Academy about the time Fancher took command; third in his class. He stirred the sugar in, then sipped it again; this time smiling in pleasure. Anything interesting at all? Tony asked palming the crystal. Bryn shrugged, toying with his spoon. Not among the Bridge staff. He said softly. But the Rankori s Flight Commander is something different. His eyes dropped to the table in front of him. How so? Tony asked eyeing Bryn carefully. She s only been Fleet for three years, been Flight Commander for 2 of those three years. Bryn s voice lowered. She s got one hell of a kill record, probably the best that Fleet has to offer. He nodded toward the data crystal in Tony s hand. Found this in the Fleet archives; it s from about four months ago. You need to take a look at it, Boss. Something in Bryn s voice caught his full attention. He flipped open his portable reader and slid the data crystal into it. Testimony of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Cause And Effect Of Tambora This year marks the 202nd anniversary of the eruption of Mount Tambora. Many have never heard of this explosion, but Tambora had massive historical effects. Let s explore what this explosion was and how it impacted culture in the 1800 s. Mount Tambora erupted on the Island of Sumbawa on April 5th in 1815. It was recorded as the largest volcanic eruption in recorded history (Britannica). The effect of this massive eruption traveled far beyond the small Indonesian island. It impacted multiple and incredibly diverse aspects of society across Asia, Europe and North America. It affected art, literature, transportation, climate, economies, health, opium production and even American religion. The volcano had been dormant for hundreds of years and this violent explosion lasted days, sending ash into the atmosphere (D arcy Wood). At the time, there were both native villagers living in the area and British officers, as the area was a colony under the British crown. Most of the surviving records of the explosion come from these British officers, some of whom didn t actually witness the explosion but heard it and assumed the explosion was from rebels on the island. A captain of a nearby East India Company ship reported ash falling out of the sky and By noon, the light that had remained in the eastern part of the horizon disappeared, and complete darkness had covered the face of day (D arcy Wood). At the time of the explosion another British subject, Sir Thomas Raffles, was the governor of Java, Indonesia. His compiled record of first hand accounts confirming the blackened sky and falling ash (Skulls). Similar accounts of darkness were recorded throughout the region, which was due to the sheer volume of ash that was released by the volcano. The ash blackened sky was not the only impact of the eruption. The more far reaching effects of the eruption would not be felt until the summer of 1816, when the eruption gasses and particles so affected worldwide meteorological patterns that the western world called 1816 The Year Without a Summer . It is hard to imagine that the eruption of distant Mount Tambora inspired and influenced the work of many artists and yet is was clearly evident in art and literature across the ... • 9. The Arizona Department Of Corrections Rating System For this assignment I will referencing the Arizona Department of Corrections rating system, and touching on the current evaluation process and discussing options to improve on the process. I work in the department of corrections and the evaluation system currently implemented is the managing, accountability, and performance (MAP). This system is far from perfect, and very susceptible to subjective evaluations. Most employees do not agree with the evaluations they receive and for the most part this is due to the supervisors not putting in the required effort to properly evaluate each employee. It is not uncommon for a supervisor to rate all of their subordinates exactly the same, regardless if one employee excels and the other shows little to no interest. Supervisors often justify their vanilla evaluations by stating that the evaluations do not have any effect on your employment, since pay raises are not based from the appraisal. As you can imagine this method does little to raise the moral of the motivated hard working staff, and in my opinion needs to be revamped. I would prefer an evaluation based more on objective performance and behavioral observations. An objective performance rating is based on the measuring of actual results from employees. Although the Department of Corrections does not produce a product, or make sales that can be tracked, they are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment to protect the public, fellow staff, and the inmates. • 10. John Dewey s Theory Of Evolution Abstract This research is on the background of John Dewey (1859 1952), his theories, his influences and the impact that his research had on the educational systems across the United States. Functionalism, Pragmatism and Individualism are looked at, as well as Darwin s Theory of Evolution. It also goes into the impact that Dewey s theories had on the educational system as it is viewed during John Dewey s lifetime and today. John Dewey (1859 1952) was born in Burlington, Vermont in 1859. He graduated from the University of Vermont in 1879 and received his PhD from John Hopkins University in 1884. Dewey was a leading figure in psychology, leaning mainly toward functionalism and behaviorism. The Reflex Arc Concept in Psychology, (1896)by John Dewey, is considered the major statement in the functionalist school of thought. Although his main interest was educational psychology, Dewey was a voice for many liberal causes. Today his writings are still used by the more progressive factions in the United States. Because Dewey s writings and philosophies are so extensive, I am going to concentrate on his influence related to the educational system. Dewey was partial to Charles Darwin s Theory of Evolution and the writings of William James. You can see the influence of Darwin s philosophies in John Dewey s educational works. He leaned heavily on the

People entering or exiting the building were only considered participants of the study if they had an opportunity to hold the door for a person behind them; those who walked through the door without anyone behind them were excluded from the study. Informed consent was not obtained from the participants. Design This naturalistic observation was conducted to observe the door holding behaviors performed by young adults as a way to examine courteousness, or consideration of others. Three possible behaviors were identified: Did Not Hold, Held Door, Stepped Aside. Since college students schedules vary, a more representative sample could have been obtained had the observations taken place at several different times of day. Additionally, the fact that the study was conducted at a dining hall may have affected the results, as it is possible that people who did not have a campus meal plan were unintentionally excluded from the study. These original questions, Who is Israel, Who is Jesus, and Who is the church, demonstrate a synchronistic relationship with each other. By reviewing them and, illustrating their connectivity we can begin to see how one can draw inferences regarding the new visual solidarity manifested in the church. Augustine, with Jesus as its head and us as the body, shows an intimacy between the Head and the body leading us to mystical union with Christ. Continuing, Augustine insists not only will Christ make us one in Him, but one person, and that the church s structure reflects not a series of individuals but a unity speaking as one. St Gregory demonstrates this in his expositions on the Psalms, Psalm 60, The psalm, he says, speaks as though one single person is praying. But it is not a lone individual; it is a unity speaking as one. In Christ, He molds us into one person whose head is in heaven and whose limbs are toiling on earth. Gregory the Great echoes Augustine s usage of the word person in the same way. He says, Our redeemer has shown himself to be one person with the holy Church, whom he has taken to himself. Hence, one can conclude that as members united with Christ as the body to the head, Christ transfigured us into his selfless gift of love. One of the key conclusions from the strategic planning that led to the ERP implementation was that the organization could not prosper with its current information systems. The Boston Consulting group (BCG) was brought in to help the company develop a strategic information systems plan to meet its new business objectives. The fact that they were recommending a three to five year phased ERP implementation system was not the best approach because it would take too long to implement. These stories are often about the Thousand Enemies and how they are a threat to the rabbits, especially El ahrairah. Humans are presented as one of the Thousand. The cars they come across are very unnatural to the rabbits being faster than a rabbit, and don t notice a rabbit at all ( Literature in Brief Information about Watership Down. ). The violence of a machine such as a car is underestimated until the group comes across the dead yona, a hedgehog overrun by a vehicle (Adams 49). Adams emphasizes the violence of the deed by describing the creature as a flattened, bloody mass of brown prickles and white fur, with small black feet and snout crushed round the edges. The flies crawled upon it, and here and there the sharp point of gravel pressed up through the flesh (Adams 49). The rabbits do not see a point in such a violent act, for an animal like a yona cannot do much more than threaten slugs and beetles, and nothing would eat a yona either. Currently housed in the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk, Virginia is one of his most famous painting The Remorse of Orestes (1862). At the center of the painting, we have Orestes naked except for a discreet white drapery. With and look of pure anguish he attempts to cover his ears as the Furies appear to be screaming behind him. Behind him to the left of the painting, we see Clytemnestra in a white dress, draped in a disarranged red cloak, with a dagger in her heart. As Clytemnestra is falling, one of the Furies holds her up. It is as if the murder has just taken place and Orestes is immediately regretting his actions, and one of the Furies is refusing to let Orestes burry the sense of guilt he feels. Another of the Furies is holding a torch, which similarly to the last painting discussed, could be symbolic of the Furies enacting justice for the crime of matricide. All of the Furies are partially clothed and have their characteristic snake like hair. The positioning of the Orestes body and face looking away from the Furies also adds to the overarching theme of the painting. It is as if he cannot face what he has done, he cannot even look at the Furies, let alone try to justify his actions. No matter how he tries to run from the crime, he will never be able to get away from it. This all encompassing dread is not something that Orestes can escape even after being pardoned for his crime; it is something that he will have to live with for the rest of his life. The canvas is 7.5 feet by 9 feet and reflects how important the message of the painting that the guilty feel an unceasing torment that they cannot escape is to the artist. Unlike other medieval morality plays, such as Mankind for example, the inner workings of this character is made overtly obvious; Death is directly addressing the other character on stage and not the audience. Death s oration lasts a good few pages however the crucial part of this almost religious deliverance of purpose for Everyman is within these 32 lines for it is here that Death reveals that he is an agent of Godbringing forth God s task for humanity. A holy death being the ultimate goal when it is humanity s time to pass, as this means their soul will get into Heaven, during the medieval time period there was an ultimate need for the resolve of what happens after a person dies most prominently in the belief of an afterlife. Death outright tells Everyman that he has done more bad deeds than good and this is why Death is here to deliver a reckoning and he is here to deliver such a reckoning in a way which does not grant Everyman time to truly consider, I give thee no respite. Come hence, and not tarry. (G.A. Lester, The Three Late Medieval Morality Plays, Everyman, page 69). The whole phrasing would suggest the urgency and requirement of an immediate action but it is the word respite that the true forcefulness is revealed. The word when used in modern terms, according to the OED, is a short break in events but when Death uses it, the term respite implies the tone of hurry and without delay as defined in the Middle English Dictionary; literally implying that Everyman must take action as he has upset God and will be punished unless he changes his ways immediately. This now becomes a contradiction to the negative light Death had put on the religious and moral ethics, he s moved from obey me it is God s law to you must change your ways if you want to save your soul . His tone has changed from damning Everyman to offering Everyman salvation, which now follows the Romans 13:4 passage in a moral function based upon the religious belief. In 1520 Charles left Spain to take possession of the German Empire to which he had been elected. The French king, Francis I, had been his rival for the dignity; Leo X thought that his interests in Italy were endangered by Charles election. The Kingdom of Navarre was already a matter of contention between France and Spain, while France and the Netherlands wrangled over the original Dukedom of Burgundy as well as Tournai, Flanders, Artois, and some lesser territories. War had not broken out over these questions, and nothing indicated that Charles would be a warlike prince; but he had broken the alliance with France made under ChiГЁvres. The Holy See opposed the election of Charles even more vigorously than France. As King of Aragon, Charles was heir to the Kingdom of Naples, a papal fief; the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Reflection Of The Gibbs Reflective Cycle (Gibbs G, 1988) The introduction of the Gibbs reflective cycle helped the nurses to have a systematic thinking about the different activity phases (Huston, 2014). These logical elements of the procedure are describing the problem, feelings identification, evaluation, analysis, conclusion, and an action plan. Every stage is essential in carrying out the reflective processes for nurses. Nurses come across many situations that affect their emotions, ethical dilemmas, conflicts from the patient s family and disrespectful colleague (Koutoukidis, Stainton, Hughson, Tabbner, 2013). All these are issues that should be addressed during the reflective process. The reflection helps to analyze the current situation through describing the problem. Common problems that surround nurses are disagreement between the nurse and the patient s family, rudeness from fellow workers, physical injuries from a mental patient and insecurity issues when working in a mental ward. After describing the problem, the nurses will be allowed to explain what they felt about the situation. Description of the feelings will help increase self awareness of the consequences in a positive way and effects of the problem. After collecting the individual experiences through interviewing or having a dialogue, the third step will be evaluating the experiences. At this stage, one has taken available notes on the experiences without criticizing the responses from the nurses (Nona, 2010). The fourth step is for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A prisoner in Albany, a category B prison states that most of [institution] rules are not designed for any specific purpose other than for bashing you over the head every day of the week to remind you your in prison (ibid, p.191). Inmates are being controlled and dictated forcefully, with no input into their regime. This shows that with no social agreement or relationship between inmate and staff, inmates are being punished in an inequitable manner, by the unethical abuse to dominate. Long Lartin, a category A prison on the Isle of White, proposes a sense of confidence in the prisoners, as they have privileges that most prisons do not have, for example; a generous gym, allowing prisoners outdoors during summer nights, ownership of clothes and no escorts needed (Sparks, Bottoms and Hay, 1996, p.171). Moving To Springfield Analysis Assuming that hundreds of former city dwellers do indeed move to Springfield every year, then it is plausible that the author is correct in that these city dwellers do appreciate Springfield because it has a rural setting an small town atmosphere . However, the author presents no proof concerning that this is truly the rationale behind citydwellers move to Springfield. As such, their suggestion that aggressive planning regulations should be implemented is hogwash because it is based upon a potentially untrue premise. Additionally, the majority of residents in Springfield may not even want more newcomers to move in, which further suggests that the author lacks sufficient data to make any sort of suggestion. The main flaw in the author s argument is the failure to include any sort of evidence or proof indicating the new Springfield residents reasons for moving to Springfield. The rationale indicated by the author is plausible, but plenty of other reasons abound concerning why city dwellers would move to the more rural Springfield. For instance, the cost of living could be cheaper in Springfield and the new residents may actually think Springfield is a worse location to live in than the city. However, these materials can also be used in criminal investigations such as terrorists who threaten harm or cause death and destruction. Explosives can be categorised into two main forms: high explosives and low explosives. High explosives are explosive materials that detonate. This means that the explosive shock passes through the material at a speed, faster than the speed of sound. High explosives generally detonate with an explosive velocity ranging from 3 to 9 km/s. Low explosive are compounds where the rate of decomposition proceeds through the material at a speed less than the speed of sound. The decomposition is spread by a flame. This is known as deflagration. Under normal conditions, low explosives undergo deflagration at rates varying from a few centimetres per second to roughly 400 metre per second. It is possible for low explosives to deflagrate extremely quickly producing an effect which is similar to detonation of high explosives. This usually occurs when ignited in a confined space and can happen due to high pressure or high temperatures. The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives is an important aspect of forensic investigations. Some methods of detection can also identify the explosives, some cannot for example the use of canine detection, and the dog can smell the explosive but cannot say what it is. The film historian Susan Hayward insisted that shots, lighting, and colour must not draw attention to themselves any more than the editing, the mise en scene or sound (2). Kambili, a teenage Igbo girl, lives with her brother Jaja, mother and her wealthy, religious zealot father, who abuses the family in the name of Catholicism. Kambili sees her life as the norm, however her paradigm completely changes when she and Jaja go to spend a week at her Aunty Ifeoma s house; and the freedom they experience creates a staggering rift within their family. It addresses various themes and motifs, including religion, domestic abuse, silence, and political strife. However, one of the more underrated themes in the book is the imagery of nature; the text is littered with vivid imagery and analogies connecting the characters with this theme. Weatheris one aspect of nature that becomes prevalent, and gives the events in the book a deeper and more subtle meaning that goes missed by most. Adichie uses the weather as a symbolic undertone to illustrate the emotional shift of Kambili between her life in Engu and her newfound freedom in Nsukka. Weather is a symbol of nature that is the most blatant reflection of the Achikes lives, and yet is the most subtle in illustrating how it evolves. Yet, when it comes down to each sports there are many aspects that strike as similar, but there are also many differences. The sports of football and track are both sports that I have experience with and understand every aspect of the sport. There are many similarities and differences between the two sports of football and track which define them and make them understandable. These sports may seem like polar opposites but the similarities between the two are endless. The similarities include the individual battle to the team aspect of the sport. The implement that is used in track is a sphere that has is a little bit larger than your palm. While in football the ball is an inflated, elongated oval that has points at each end of the ball. Also in football, with the position that I play, I can t legally carry the ball while in track I have to throw the implement. With one of the similarities between track and football being the team aspect, but the difference is that track is all individual events while football is one big event. Track is a sport that has individuals fill roles in a single event, but football has a team of eleven players working together all at once. Another difference between the two sports is how points are acquired. In football you are able to acquire points at any time throughout the event. You can score point such as one point, two points, three points, or six points depending on how your team decides to score. On the other hand, in track it s only after each event is over, and the points are awarded to which place you get in your event. First place gets ten points and the point decrease the worse you place in your event. Also you score points as a team working together in football, and on the other hand in track you score points individually which add up to a team s score. Between football and track the lists of similarities and differences are endless. The comparison between the sports doesn t make one better than the next, it just helps understand it.
