Natural and Synthetic Materials
Textiles are made up from natural or man made fibres or a combination of both. Fibres are thin,
hair like structures (Blair, n.d: online) that are categorized into two types: long filament fibres and
short staple fibres. Natural fibres are usually staple, whilst man made fibres are filament, with the
exception of silkthat comes from a natural source. These raw fibres are spun to produce a long,
continuous thread referred to as yarn, which is then used in a series of methods that include,
stitching, knitting and weaving in order to produce a fabric. The content, construction and finish of
a fabric can determine it s aesthetic and functional qualities. This essay will explore the
classifications and characteristics of fibres, yarns and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Its desirability and expensive price has prompted cheaper man made imitations. (Udale,
2008)(IYNF, 2009)
Man made fibres account for 68% of fibres used worldwide (CRFS, 2010: online). In the textile
industry, man made fibres are categorized into two main types: cellulosic polymers and non
cellulosic polymers. Cellulosic polymers are derived from the cellulose extracted from natural
sources, such as plants and trees. The cellulose is then chemically treated to produce fibres such as
rayon, acetate and triacetate. Non cellulosic polymers are those that are produced synthetically
from different chemical compounds in order to produce fibres such as nylon, polyester and acrylic.
(Udale, 2008)
Often referred to as artificial silk because of its silk like aesthetic, rayon was one of the first man
made fabrics to be developed having been in production since 1885 (Udale, 2008). Constructed
from the cellulose of wood pulp, it was made to simulate natural fibres as well as to provide
characteristics of its own (Corbman, 1983: p.9). Like cotton, it is soft, comfortable and versatile; it
blends well with other fibres, and is often used for evening gowns as an alternative to silk
because of its good drape. It is also a highly absorbent material that can be dyed easily. The
durability of rayon is fairly low, it is easily damaged through abrasion and can shrink when washed,
prompting dry clean aftercare instructions. (Swicol, 2010).

Humorous Wedding Speech from the Father of the Bride
Well, good afternoon everyone, for those of you that don?t know me my name is Lee and I?m
Janie?s dad, and in keeping with tradition, it is my honor and privilege to deliver the ?Father of
the Bride Speech?. Having to make this speech is one of the few opportunities in a married man?s
life when he is allowed to do all of the talking...and I intend to make the most of it.
Now, giving a speech can be a little stressful so I will put into practice what I preach, that
is...always remember the ABC to the XYZ of public speaking. ABC..Always Be Confident,

Let me raise my glass to you Janet in a private toast, (drinks) (aside)?. Anything for a drink!
The last wedding speech I made was at our wedding 39 years ago. 39 years...Considering the
penalty for murder that?s more than two life sentences.
My speech on that day started badly, sagged in the middle with long silences and finished in
incomprehensible ramblings. I hope this one is a little better.
In those day things were very different. We were not so forward and were very innocent...On our
wedding day we sat up all night waiting for our sexual relations to arrive! How times have
changed?when I first met Janet, Las Vegas hadn?t even been discovered.
I remember meeting Janet for the first time. I knew then and there that she was Miss Right? It was
some time later I discovered that her first name was ?always??.
At our wedding reception two of the guests were the vicar and an elderly old uncle who were
chatting in a corner. I offered them a drink and the vicar asked for a large whisky. The old uncle
said ?No thanks; I?d rather go with a scarlet woman than touch the demon drink. The vicar
promptly gave me back his drink and said ?I didn?t know there was a choice?. Now I don?t want
to offend anybody so if there is a vicar present I apologise...and if there is a scarlet woman here,
I?ll meet you in the bar in ten minutes.

Dracula-The Evolution Of The Vampire In Fiction And...
The New Outlook on Vampires
The idea of an undead night stalker that feeds on human blood has been around for centuries and
endures to this day. Numerous countries and cultures across the globe have personal deviations of a
similar folkloric entity. No matter the variation, all vampire tales have a key commonality the lust
for human blood. It was not until the late 19th century that an Irish author compiled a breadth of
knowledge on such folkloric tales and concocted the character that now acts as the template for the
vampire myth. Bram Stoker s Dracula was first published in 1897 and from that point forward the
novelist s title character set the precedent for all fictional vampires. The Evolution of the Vampire

Using Hitler As An Example Of Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism and subjective relativism was pretty interesting to me, after reading this
chapter I sort of having a better understanding of why have arguments at times. As humans, we
are stuck in our ways and we think that our ways and actions are always right, but that is not
always the case other people might not see it the way we do. Being humans we have to
understand that everyone has their own way of learning, and reading this chapter gave me a new
perspective on that. In my opinion using Hitler as an example was not the best choice. I will never
understand why people Hitler thought that taking someone else life is the right thing to do, but
who am I to disagree with their way of thinking. Unfortunately, Hitler is not the only person

HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT RELATED EMERGENCIES
Introduction
Heat exhaustion is one of several heat related emergencies that can be potentially fatal if not treated
promptly and correctly. Heat related emergencies encompass three phases, which represent
progressive worsening of symptoms and thus potential morbidity of the condition. These three
phases include heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and ultimately heat stroke that without prompt
treatment can result in serious injury or even death. Treatment of heat exhaustion and heat related
emergencies is focused on prompt identification of symptoms and subsequent supportive treatment
to reduce core body temperature and prevent potential complications associated with the condition.
Education regarding identification of early signs of heat related emergencies has helped to reduced
incidences of heat stroke, but current research has also found new ways to treat heat stroke and
prevent complications associated with heat related emergencies. With this advent of new treatments
outlooks for those suffering from heat stroke have improved, however the best treatment is still
early identification and prevention of heat related emergencies.

militants or failed to properly prosecute them, and this needs to change, (Sheppard). After the
devastating attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014, which killed
135 children, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a 20 point National Action Plan to combat
terrorism, but none of the 20 points in the act pertained to students or education(Sheppard). The
Pakistani government continues to fail its female citizens by not protecting them and their right
to education. Not only does education need to be accessible, but it also needs to improve in
quality. The quality of an education is greatly affected by a lack of resources. Lacking resources
include money, technology, and protection that make education more affordable and accessible.
Many schools that girls are able to attend in Pakistan are small and not publicly funded. This is a
reason for why they are not able to hire quality teachers or invest in technology that will improve
their education (Sharif). Since there are many more schools for boys that receive funds from the
government, they will continue to be a step ahead of women in all areas of life. In this way,
women lose the skills that enables them to think critically and question established wisdom, which
thereby restricts them from rising above prejudice, myth, and historical legacies that are holding
them back (Sharif). A future where girls can still not go to school and study freely, is a dark future.

Compare And Contrast North Carolina At Chapel Hill
Throughout our state and our nation, there are a variety of options when it comes to higher
education. In the state of North Carolina, one of the many community colleges is Fayetteville
Technical Community College, also referred to as FTCC. One of the many universities in our
state is the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which is also called UNC Chapel Hill. I
chose these two institutions because they are two of the places I am looking at to get my various
degrees. When looking at these two places of education, we can see that there are many similarities,
but there are also differences.

Sinclair Lewis makes point of the efforts that Carol produces to reform her new home. These
efforts can be perceived by the townspeople as unwelcomed and unsuccessful. Some of Carol s
ideas are ludicrous, out of proportion and not ready for the slow moving town. She tries several
different approaches to reforming the town from the moment of her arrival. She goes from
architectural reform to poetic reform to artistic to introducing liberalism to amusing social
functions. All of these tactics she hopes will spring forth a reform movement to beautify and
culturalize the town and people. Her initial attempts at bringing the town out of its shell consisted
of throwing fun and exciting parties. Such as her Chinese house warming party on page... Show

Assuming an in depth reading of selected poems and lively discussions will take up the time, she is
startled by the biographical and historical information that is shown off as great literary papers.
Her idea of starting a dramatics association after a night of charades, becomes such in the weeks
to follow. She experiences the overwhelming control of small town politics and agreement with
association that is exhibited in the play selection process. Her choice for the leading lady is
dictated by the longing for social acceptance and the simple art of sucking up. She ascertains that
her vision of the perfect play has been tainted by the unmotivated, unreliable and unscrupulous cast
she has assembled. The consistent snide, off handed remarks and unannounced, unwanted
suggestions echo the toils of community theater groups across the present Midwest. Carol has
wonderful aspirations and ideas to help awaken the sleepy town of Gopher Prairie, but she is held
back by the stiff, stubborn close mindedness of the small town. The obstacles she encounters are
her own self criticisms. It is quite true that the townswomen gossip about her to no end, but if she
could stop and listen, they gossip about each other just as much. She does not comprehend that the
common means of conversation in the town are achieved through the criticizing of others. Carol
will never attain her dream village if she does not learn how to

Historical Perspective Of Renaissance Florence
Historiography
The scholars who have documented the history of Florence in the Italian Renaissance observes
Machiavelli in his Florentine Histories (Istorie fiorentine), tending to begin work there. The works
of Machiavelli and Guicciardini have been useful in the studies of Renaissance Florence, through
the direct translation of Latin, giving history from the view of these humanist historians of 15th
century. Other authors have focused on the works of Bruni, Bracciolini and Scala, as in a relatively
modern outlook to the study of Renaissance Florence has seen the difference in perspective of what
occurred in Renaissance Florence leading historians to take a deeper look at these humanist.
Authors looking at the historical perspective of Renaissance Florence tend outline the aspects of the
past and present state of studies in this field of the Renaissance and Renaissance Florence. In recent
years, American scholars have concentrated on the methods and ideas in history rather than the
specific problems of these Florentine information gaps. Historians within the modern study tend to
only focus on the primary sources within the region, rather than try to look outside the area for
references to said events. The tradition study of Florentine historiography tends to only focus
questions asked and answered about Bruni, Bracciolini and Scala. In Dr W s Book, he states
historians tend to ask certain questions:
What interests and engages the author?; What is the substance of his

Essay on Alan Bennett Talking Heads
Alan Bennett Talking Heads
In Bennett s monologues the main character faces an important decision which will affect the
course of their lives. I will go on and explain in this essay, the play writer s use of literary
techniques including setting, theme and characterisation which may make the decision seem
correct or not. Talking Heads was originally produced for BBC television but has recently been
used as a collection of short stories. Each of the characters portrayed, is played by an actress that
has been previously associated with Alan Bennett e.g.:Thora Hird who plays Doris worked on a
BBC Radio 4 programme Deadringers .It is safe to say that Alan Bennett tailored some of the
material, to suit the actors, own ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bennett reflects this very well by transferring this British habit to his characters. All of them are
dead against a change in their lifestyle.
This is excellently demonstrated in A Cream Cracker Doris wants to stay in her house, but the
council recommends she moves to a nursing home , but she refuses on the grounds of hygiene
clearly this shows that she is against a change of setting and a change of life and this is cleverly
portrayed throughout the plays.
Is their setting a safe haven or a prison? Looked at from different angles, we all would have
different views. With Graham, his home and mainly his bedroom is a sanctuary for him, some
where he can escape prejudice and critics, but on reflection what they really are is a hiding place
, a place for Graham to hide away and wallow in self pity. But for Irene she feels her home is a
prison. She has no freedom or liberty, no way to express herself. The only way she achieves this
is by writing letters which may anger or offend other members in the community. But as she
enters an actual prison she feels more freedom than when she was actually a free woman, that
may seem strange to you and I, but for some people, this can be reality and a break from a life
they do not enjoy. When dealing with Doris, it is or can be a confusing situation, from different
viewpoints it

Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson Essay
Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson In his book, The Miseducation of the Negro,
Carter G. Woodson addresses many issues that have been and are still prevalent in the African
American community. Woodson believed that in the midst of receiving education, blacks lost sight
of their original reasons for becoming educated. He believed that many blacks became educated
only to assimilate to white culture and attempt to become successful under white standards, instead
of investing in their communities and applying their knowledge to help other blacks. Supreme
Court Justice Clarence Thomas is a prime example of Woodson s argument on miseducated blacks.
Although Thomas benefitted from programs like affirmative action, once he... Show more content

Those who remain on the less privileged, less educated side of the black community resent their
peers who have degrees and white collar jobs. They feel that these successful black men and
women no longer have a connection to where they came from. This class rift is not only limited
to black adults, but occurs in school age children and teenagers. Many small black children who
dress well and have high grades in school are made fun of and picked on by their less fortunate
peers. Black high school students who drive nice cars and live in upper class neighborhoods are
sometimes labeled as bourgeois by their peers who come from working or lower class families.
The contempt that is held amongst blacks is not only based on class and education, but can be
found related to color and/or skin tone. Division among light skinned and dark skinned blacks
dates back to slavery. On plantations the master used these skin categories to divide the house
slaves and the field slaves. Since position inside of the house were easier and more comfortable ,
the slaves with lighter skin were envied by their darker peers who were given difficult outside
jobs in the field. After slavery ended if your skin was light it made it easier for you to mix into
white society. Many parents encouraged their light skinned children, especially daughters, to
attempt to pass for white. Lighter skin gave you opportunities at better jobs, slightly

It is important to note the following when evaluating China s media industry: Public service
television is an essential service to the community and cohesion of democratic societies aimed at the
production, publication and distribution of a set of radio and television channels airing the diverse
and balanced for all audiences, covering all genres and designed to meet information needs, culture,

promote the information society, promoting pluralism, participation and other constitutional values,
ensuring access for significant social and political groups.
Based on the previous module assessments, NBC Universal s preliminary focus should be geared
toward the film industry. The recent trade deal, between both the U.S. and Chinese Governments,
lowered a 20 year old quota on U.S. films and distribution fees in the Chinese film industry. This
signifies productive progression within the film industry, even though small in nature, but
nonetheless this could equate to significant profit gains for all the FMO s within the market.

Socrates Stand on Democracy
Reusi 1 Raye Reusi D. Ryals Writing 1 November 14, 2012 Socrates Stand on Democracy Having
emphasized upon me the advantages of democracy, I have always believed that it is the best system
to implement in a country. Ignoring the flaws and weaknesses of this type of system, I thought that
the benefits outweigh all costs. I assume that giving the power to the people is better than having
one person rule the state. However, in Platos account on the life of his mentor Socrates, we are able
to see both sides of the spectrum: the pros and cons of democracy which are accounted in Plato s
dialogues, the Apology and the Crito. Socrates, having been accused of impiety, is brought to trial
in front of the jury of Athens. In his defense, he points... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, he implies that the people would not favor anyone that opposes injustice which seems to be
the common dealings in politics. He believes that he would have died long ago (34), although this
is not his ultimate concern. What he truly cares about is not to do anything unjust or impious (32).
Despite his criticisms on politics, Socrates is essentially reminding the people, especially those in
authority, to serve a just and virtuous life. Outwardly stating the current situation of the
government, he aims to provide the people a portrait of the shallow kind of democracy that they
have come to maintain. Socrates seeks to prompt the majority to uphold the true sense of
democracy, of fighting for justice and living life accordingly. Furthermore, Socrates uses his
dialectical approach with his friend Crito in examining the contrast between the knowledge of the
one and the pseudo knowledge of the many . He uses an analogy of a man involved in physical
activities, whom must listen to the advice of the true expert in his training, rather than the opinions
thrown by other people who barely know anything about these activities. Anyone who places a
higher regard to the thoughts of the majority, rather than to the knowledge of the one who possess
it, puts himself on greater harm (47). Socrates adds that if we disobey the one who seeks to

College Tuition Should Be Regulated
As a freshman college student I believe that college tuition is much higher compared to what it
used to be. One reason why it continues to increase is mainly because of the significant amount of
loans that are borrowed by college students but are not getting paid back; however, does anyone
ever wonder where does the money that is put into colleges go to? Collegeprofessors are not the
reason that college cost so much; in addition to, the money also goes towards sport teams,
scholarships, and construction work in order to expand the campuses (Carey). Tuition at Stanford
Universityin 1980 81 was $6,285. Thirty years later, Stanford s tuition had risen to $38,700.
Tuition in 2011 12 is $40,050, Goodman stated. With that being said college tuition should be
regulated because it would be more affordable, students would not feel as pressured, and the
country s debt will slowly began to decrease. Although college tuition at the University of South
Alabama is much cheaper than Stanford University it is still expensive to an average middle class
family. College tuition should be regulated because it would be more affordable for students that
are fresh out of high school. Tuition at the University of South Alabama for 2015 2016 is
estimated to $9,240 but it could be either higher or lower for students in a specific major. Tuition
for USA in 1987 for in state students was $1,581 and for out of state students it was $2,181.
Twenty three years later in 2010 tuition rose up to $5,962

In a world where loneliness and emotional disconnect prevail many can find themselves taking
drastic measures to find the light at the end of the tunnel. The unnamed narrator and protagonist
of Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk finds himself in this exact predicament after struggling to find
meaning and purpose in his ordinary and cyclic life. Due to the pressures of work the narrator
develops insomnia and disguises himself as a cancer patient in order to seek comfort and
attention at support groups such as the Remaining Men Together. (Palahniuk 18) While attending
these support groups the narrator notices a woman, Marla Singer, another fake patient who
reminds him of his weakness and loneliness and, as a result, he decides it is better to stay away
from her. Looking for relief from his life s pressures, he escapes to a nude beach where he meets

The most memorable and significant works are the ones that address problems within society,
and this 1996 novel is a prime example of the postmodern era that has left its mark nearly two
decades after its release(Choules). Although it is hard to attribute one definition to
postmodernism, it can be seen as a concept that arose after World War II, characterized by
portraying the capitalistic values of the Western world. (Philosophy) Turning to destruction and
violence to cope with the feelings of inequality, which are still a part of society today, are
cleverly included in the novel Fight Club. As the fight clubs grow the sudden commitment to this
new ideology of blind allegiance to a leader in order to prove self worth takes control of the men.
This new brotherhood and allegiance to one entity causes the men to lose all sense of self direction

Descriptive Essay About The Forest
The Forest When The laughter started I knew I should run, but I didn t. why? I don t remember,
but that doesn t matter, now that I m dead anyway; So let s get on with how this happened. I was
in the woods walking around while the party was going. I started to get a feeling someone was
watching me, someone probably was, I thought. There were people all around me they were all
from the party, I knew this because I saw a lot of people walk in here before I did to find... never
mind. I started hearing sticks cracking. Nothing To be afraid of but it did creep me out a little.
After only a minute or two was when I started to hear it; The child. The laughs got louder the
light shifted it was much darker than a minute ago, no, no, ten seconds ago. It looked like the
beginning of night time, not the light of early evening when I first arrived to the party. What
time was it? I check my watch, 7:47 pm no, definitely not right. As the laughs got louder I started
to think are they messing with me? No, the laughs sound to close right in front of me. I started to
to walk back to the party it was over I was not going to find... no I must get back maybe they are
already back. Then I heard a scream, I ran. The light seemed to get darker as I ran, then I heard a
boom and a blinding light flashed close to me, was that lighting? I ran as fast as I could. The wind

Public Schools Should Be Public School
Public schools are considered the normal thing to do for children. When one thinks of where they
see their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents
dread going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they
legally must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course,
there are private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better
for students if public schoolis not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by
the thought that one must legally go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights
are what all people have no matter what. The twenty sixth is education. It is stated clearly that
education should be free and that technical and professional education should be readily
available and accessible to anyone. Education also must be focused on encouraging overall
tolerance and friendships. Parents also have a right to decide on the type of school a child will
utilize. (OHCHR) The key word here is type. Most people would think public school is either
their only or most obvious or easiest option and would choose that over other possibilities.
Everyone in the United States between the ages of six to 16 must receive an education in a public
or state accredited private school with exemptions for homeschoolingor online classes. (FindLaw)

Example Of Endgame Theory
Opening Theory this commonly refers to a consensus or a repertoire of common chess openings
that have been analyzed line per line and are proven to be effective. Opening theory involves
multiple lines of one opening (Hooper and Whyld, 1992).
Middlegame Theory often refers to maxims or principles applicable to the middlegame. There are
few universally applicable principles (Hooper and Whyld, 1992).
Endgame Theory refers to the maxims or principles applicable to the endgame. Endgame theory
involves the review of passed games and application of concepts obtained from reviewing these
games into similar positions (Hooper and Whyld, 1992).

A clear thought process is described in the book, an ideal thought process for developing
calculating skills and the creation of an analysis tree. It is also discussed that in every game there
is always one critical position in which the slightest edge in accurate calculation can change the
flow of a game (Gormally, 2010).
Modern Chess Openings: 13th Edition The third part of chess theory is the opening theory.
Opening theory is mostly concerned with memorizing lines to see which openings can give you a
slight edge in the beginning. Though memorizing specific openings is favorable, there are also
chess principles that can guide a player to find moves that can give them an edge in an equal
matchup (Firman, 2013).
Creating a Chess engine from Scratch A chess engine is a basic tool in improving chess skills
when you reach a higher level of playing. Chess engines assist you in analyzing certain positions

a chess engine is a long process even if it only has two principle functions: evaluating positions and

The Problem Of Evil And Atheism
owe to prove his thesis about the problems of evil and atheism, Rowe asks three fundamental
questions. The first question, is there an argument for atheism based on the problem of evil that
could rationally justify atheism? Supporting his question, Rowe by uses the idea of human and
animal suffering.is it reasonable for omnipotent, omniscient being(s) to permits its creation to suffer
by extinguish each other for their own personal benefits. If there is such a thing as an

Another view on suffering brought by theist is the suffering can lead to a greater spiritual good.
In order to gain spiritual guidance, there has to be suffering involved. The agonizing struggle
brought by human s free choice is debated since it can only be prevented by an individual s free
choice. But not all suffering is created by human s free choice. Individuals have no control over the
amount of sorrow that is brought upon them. Without warning, natural disaster brings suffering
even if people are trying their best in order to prevent any kind of unhappiness. How could theist
know the meaning of such suffering and its purpose? By trusting that the meaning of suffering is
only known after death, how can theist surely agree if none of them have experienced the afterlife?
Last, what position should the informed atheist take concerning the rationality of religious beliefs?
After giving a response to theist s argument against atheist, both are to believe that the other is
believing a false belief. There are many types of atheist with different thoughts on religious beliefs.
There are three different types of atheism discussed in Rowe s theory. Unfriendly atheism, there is
no such thing as a god(s). Indifferent atheism, has no concern in believing that a theist god(s)
exists. And friendly atheism is certain that there is a reason theist to have faith in god. Defending
his argument about friendly atheism,

Rhetorical Analysis Of Andrew Sinek s Ted Presentation
1. Use a contrarian approach. Make a statement of a universally accepted concept, then go against
conventional wisdom by contradicting the statement. For example, a market trader starts by
contradicting the commonly held advice of buying low and selling high. He says: It s wrong.
Why? Because buying low typically entails a stock that s going in the opposite direction down
from the most desired direction up. This is a provocative opening that engages the audience right
away.
2. Ask a series of rhetorical questions. A common way to engage the audience at the startis to ask a
rhetorical question. Better still, start with a series of rhetorical questions. A good example of this
tactic is Simon Sinek s TED presentation. He starts with: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

5. Provide a reference to a historical event. There are times when the day that you present may
have some significance in history that can be tied to the subject of your presentation, as an
opening gambit. You can easily look up what happened on any day in Today In Sport or a more
general site such as This Day In History. You never know what pertinence it might have that will
add some pizzazz to your presentation. It s worth a look.
6. Use the word imagine. The word imagine invites the audience to create a mental image of
something. Ever since John Lennon s famous song, it has become a powerful word with
emotional appeal. A particularly skillful use of the word occurs in Jane Chen s TED talk. She
speaks about a low cost incubator that can save many lives in underdeveloped countries. Chen
opens by saying: Please close your eyes and open your hands. Now imagine what you could
place in your hands, an apple, maybe your wallet. Now open your eyes. What about a life? As
she says this, she displays a slide with an Anne Geddes image of a tiny baby held in an adult s
hands. There is power in asking the audience to conjure up their imagination, to play along. This
tactic can easily be adapted to any topic where you want the audience to imagine a positive
outcome, or a vision of a better tomorrow. It

The Beginning Of The Humanities Sequence
Since the beginning of the Humanities sequence, numerous themes have been expressed through
various pieces of art and literature. A few of these themes have been so prevalent that they have
flourished throughout the entire sequence of humanities classes. One of the major themes in
particular is the idea of truth and where people have found truth in society. Some believe that truth
comes from religionand higher powers, while others believe that knowing as many angles of a
certain idea gains knowledge and achieves truth. Over history, truth has developed from an
absolute truth to a scientific and existential truth. During the pre modern world sequence, it was
apparent that truth was validated by the use of religion and top members of society. This was
shown through the work Hymn to the Aten. Egyptian people followed the Aten since he gave
them a sense of purpose. At the time in history, religion was a major focus point in society and
their lives. That pharaoh that is depicted in the picture was seen as the shining spirit of Aten. The
pharaoh gained his knowledge through God which he then passed to his people. The Egyptians
agreed on the fact that Aten provided truth since it was directly to the pharaoh through God.
However, the weakness in this was that everyone believed the pharaoh to be true, which allowed
the pharaoh to have absolute power over his people. A second piece of work during this time period
was the work created by Plato called Allegory of the Cave. In this

Methadone Case Study Essay
Throughout the case of how Ashley had ingested the methadone, there had been many inferences

Black Sacred Cosmos Research Paper
The Black Sacred Cosmos was developed through the conjoining of the African traditional past
with Western Christianity. It explains the influence of the Middle Passage, and the efforts of
enslavers to force assimilation of the Africans to Western religious beliefs and cultural practices.
Traditional African religions encompassed all portions of life; believers found something sacred
in their daily experiences. Modern day black religions encompass life as well, but there are certain
days like Sunday, or Saturday in the Adventist church, where we may dedicate more time to God.
Traditional religions were tied to family lines, from birth to death. The religionthat one s maternal
or paternal family practiced, was passed down from generation to generation; there was no
acceptance of faith like Christianity. There was a strong sense of community, where the gods and

Using Boeing 737 planes to have a fleet commonality in order to minimize staff trainings and
aircraft maintenance costs.
Web check in facility that not only was loved by passengers but also helped Ryanair in reducing
staff and printing costs.
Point to point routes to avoid transfer costs of passengers.
Less airport charges by choosing secondary airports that were less congested and away from the

Respiratory Exchange Ratio Analysis
At rest our body s energy expenditure results from our basal metabolic rate (sleeping metabolic
rate) and our arousal (wakefulness). At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new
metabolic demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated
by our anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic
system syncs in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heartrate increases as
exercise increases in order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to
pump more blood; this represents and linear relationship. Heart rate and VO2 are also linearly
related, as the maintenance of a steady state during exercise is largely dependent on the heart s
ability to stimulate the metabolic activities that result in increased ventilation and a subsequent
increase in VO2.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This ratio is measured at the tissue level of the mouth or nose, and can be used to estimate RQ.
Respiratory quotient (RQ): is the proportion of carbon dioxide (CO2) produced, in relation the
amount of oxygen consumed by the body, at the cellular level, during exercise. We need to wait
until exercise reaches a steady state before we can use RER to estimate RQ because RER can be
used to calculate the number and type of calories being released when a liter of oxygen is used;
and at low levels more fat is consumed, while at higher intensities carbohydrates are consumed.
Waiting for a steady state to be achieved ensures us the proper estimation of the type of calorie being

When the Russian forces withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989, the CIA offered a $35,000 bounty

Women Authors of the 19th Century
Some of the most influential women authors of all time lived in the 19th century. These women
expressed their inner most thoughts and ideas through their writings. They helped to change
society, perhaps without knowing it, through poetry, novels, and articles. Emily Dickinson, Harriet
Jacobs, Kate Chopin, Louisa May Alcott, and Elizabeth Oakes Smith are the best known
controversial and expressive women authors of their time.
On December 10, 1830 a poet was born. When Emily Dickinson was born in Amherst,

Jacobs was born in North Carolina in the early 1800s. Jacobs never realized she was a slave until
her mother died when she was six. Jacobs then moved in with her grandmother and her white

In 1835, Jacobs escaped from Norcom and went into hiding for seven years. In an attempt to get

And disappears under the wall of water. Taking the knife with him (Ness, 463). As soon as the

Todd has humbled himself and that is the real definition of a man, and Todd has to learn that.

to help protect certain groups. This paper will cover three of these laws, their scope and rationale
as well as a case study. This research is being done with the intent of establishing the importance of
these laws by discussing the potential consequences if these laws were not enacted. The paper will

implementation of laws and regulations that minimize the access of private information and protect

HIPAA The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Actof 1996 (HIPAA), was initially
established as a way to standardize the electronic dissemination of health information across the
field of health care. The Act was initially introduced as the Kennedy Kassebaum Bill and had two
primary objectives: Portability and Accountability. The portability portion was intended to ensure
individuals would be able to maintain insurance between jobs. This portion was implemented very
successfully. The second portion of the act is accountability, which was designed to ensure the
security and confidentiality of administrative information and financial data as it relates to patient
health information.
The Kennedy Kassebaum Bill was renamed the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability
Act of 1996 (HIPAA), andenacted in August of 1996. Part of the HIPAA legislation requires the
DHHS to broadcast regulations on specific areas of the Act, which were called Rules. The Act is
better referred to as the HIPAA Privacy Rule or Privacy Rule. ThePrivacy Rule forms national
standards that protect certain health information. The protected information includes: Names,

Cognitive Theories Of Learning Focus On A Person s Intellect
Cognitive Versus Constructivist Theories of Learning Cognitive theories of learning focus on a
person s intellect. It pertains to how individuals process and maintain information that is vital in the
course of learning. For instance, schema refers to an internal structure for arranging information.
When new information is received it is compared with existing cognitive organizations known as
schema. Schema can be altered, combined or extended in order to support new information (O
Donnell, Reeve Smith, 2012, p. 58). Essentially, schemas are elements of understanding that can be
categorized by level of importance as well as interconnected into complex connections with one
another. Another element of cognitive learningtheory is the information processing approach. The
information processing model refers to when an individual receives information from their
surroundings through the senses, is then processed in short term memory before it is
transmitted to long term memory where it is stored and later retrieved (de Castro, 2013, p. 281).
Key ideas to this particular process of learning allows for meaningful information to be learned
and remembered effortlessly. If a learner associates fairly insignificant information with previous
schema it is retained more easily. It is also easier to recall items from the beginning or end of a
list of facts than it is to remember details from the middle, except if the point is particularly
distinct. There are also levels of processing

Flowers For Algernon Research Paper
Being educated and learning are an essential to a normal lifestyle. In the novel Flowers for
Algernon, Charlie has learned exceptionally quickly after the operation and impresses everyone
with his quick learning skills. ... Charlie I dont know how you done it but it looks like you
finally learned something. I want you to be carefull and do the best you can do. You got
yourself a new job with a 5 doller raise. (pg. 36) While Charlie didn t tell anyone about the
operation, he still shows up to work and surprises everyone by working the dough mixer. He
came out of the cave and learned something that his old self couldn t. By the phrase ... I don t

Being knowledgeable is how one survives being in the real world and the street and book smarts
are what need to be applied daily. Charlie discovers this when his co workers make a joke about
him working the mixer, but he ends up not only working it, but more efficiently than Oliver.
Leaving his old self behind, Charlie grew academically and proved he can collect knowledge, as
seen by this very example. In a similar phase, when Dr. Sayer discovers about the catatonic
patients, he is motivated to help them and learn how to help them. He had no idea about the
disease and as he said was in a different world than all of those patients. When he became
motivated to educate himself and find a solution to the disease, he came out of the cave and
researched every document and person he knew had an associated relationship with the catatonic
disease. He knew he could learn more while researching the disease, which was the drive behind
all of the motivation, much so like Charlie when he tried to work the dough mixer at the bakery.
Connecting to real life, Dr. Sayer s motivation is what drives wanting to learn new

LGBT RIGHTS: ON THE USA AND BRAZIL
2
Introduction
Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals and Transgender (LGBT) issues have continuously triggered debates
and controversies among various individual s across the globe. The rising concerns leading to the
differences in opinions regarding LGBT emanate from the point of perceptions, cultural beliefs,
religious values and political basis. Due to the dynamics of not accepting the existence of the LGBT
peop le by some individuals in their communities, the LGBTs have found it hard to express
themselves freely and enjoy equal rights just like a regular citizen should
(Dolan, 2013). For instance, in the United States, the LGBT patients did not have visitation rights
until a directive from the Whitehouse was issued. In some communities, extreme measures have
been taken against individuals suspected to be lesbians or gays. Because of the way the public
view the LGBT people, it is disheartening and traumatizing for most of them to come out and
express themselves openly. Some have been forced to lead double standards. However, the
situation has changed in different nations and states in America where laws and policies have been
developed to support and protect the LGB
T community. As a minority group, the LGBT community has struggled over the years to have
their rights respected.
Despite the existing disagreements surrounding the LGBT rights, several states in the
United States of America and Brazil among others have demonstrated

General Chemistry II
5 December, 2017 The Chemistry Behind Ink Pens Do we not hate when we have to ask another
other person for a writing utensil? Excuse me, do you have a writing utensil I can borrow? It is a
feeling no one likes, but a question that is always asked. However, the question, what is in the
writing utensil that I used today? is not a question that is so frequently asked, but it should be.
Sharpie is a perfect example of a ink pen that is composed of many different chemicals. If you are
going to consistently use something throughout your life, would you not want to know what was in
the item you were using? Sharpie is one of the many types of permanent markers. According to
sharpie.com, Today, Sharpie stands for far more than just markers. Made to write on, stand out on,
and stay on practically any surface, it s The Permanent Marker born for unique, unruly, courageous,
outrageous self expression that never, ever fades from glory. We are the bold original, genuine

industrial products because of its properties as a surfactant (Wikipedia.com). A surfactant, also
known as surface active agent, according to dictionary.com, is a substance, such as a detergent, that

The History Of Product Design
The history of product design is a fickle subject. Through the years, the wheel has been invented
and re invented many a time. That is because design is fluid. But at the same time, design is
constant. Often the past inspires the present. Even more, the ideas of what the future can hold can
end up creating the future of design. These design ideas can be seen trickling into both the works
of Vico Magistretti and James Dyson. Often it is said that no one creates anything new anymore. It
is true that you can t reinvent the wheel, but it can certainly be seen that designs from the past often
inspire the future of design. Designs by Vico Magistretti in the 20th century have similar aesthetics
to the designs of James Dyson, a 21st century inventor, and designer. Designs of James Dyson show
that the present is rooted in the past. Designs and products of Vico Magistretti show that simple
designs are timeless. Designs and products of James Dyson show that basic design philosophies are
often repeated through time.
Vico Magistretti is best known not just as an industrial designer, but as an architect as well. It
actually seems like a natural combination. Even Frank Lloyd Wright is known to have designed the
entire living experience surrounding his architectural planning. While Magistretti did not so far as
to even design the clothes the homeowners were to wear, it only makes sense that Magistretti would
envision his designs housed within yet another one of his designs.

Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie Essay
Muriel Sparks The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie tells the story of the extraordinary Miss Brodie, a
teacher at a school located in Edinburgh in the late 1930 s. She has a set of six girls, her
crГЁme de la crГЁme , who are called the Brodie set. One of the things that characterizes this
novel is the way time is used. Instead of telling the story in a chronological order the author writes
in a non sequential way, having paid a lot of attention to the order in which the events are told.
This has an effect on the characterization of the character of Rose Stanley and Miss Jean Brodie
herself, as focalized through the Brodie girls. Instead of beginning the novel with the first year of
Miss Brodie teaching her six special girls, where the story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

discovers rather late why Rose Stanley is famous for sex and the true nature of Miss Jean

Hal, Hotspur, and Personality in Shakespeare s Henry IV,...
Hal, Hotspur and Personality in Henry IV, Part 1 Introduction: William Shakespeare s Henry IV,
Part 1, composed during the last years of the 16th century, is as much as character study as it is
a retelling of a moment in history. Though the play is titled for one king, it truly seems to
revolve around the actions of the titular character s successor. Indeed, Henry IV is a story of the
coming of age of Prince Hal and of the opposition that he must face in this evolution. This
process gives narrative velocity to what is essentially a conflagration between two personality
types. In Prince Hal, the audience is given a flawed but thoughtful individual. Equally flawed but
more given over to action than thought is his former ally and now nemesis, Hotspur. In the
latter, Shakespeare offers a warrior and a man of action and in the former, the playwright shows
a politician in his nascent stages of development. The contrast between them will drive the play s
action. Discussion: Hotspur s is decidedly not political or diplomatic in his orientation. Quite to
the contrary, he is a figure unafraid to express anger, resentment and hostility toward the King. As
he does so, he speaks with the tongue of a warrior, impassioned by his sense of honor and
resistant to any calming reason. He speaks sarcastically and derisively with his own father for
being reluctant to turn his back on Henry IV. Particularly because the Duke of Northumberland and
his son had been so critical to helping Henry

Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion
In 1974 Dulles published Models of the Church to address questions concerning ecclesiology the
study of the church. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a
place to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to
the Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the
different functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today.
He categorizes the models into five aspects: Church as institution, Church as mystical communion,
Church as sacrament, Church as herald, Church as servant, and lastly his new model Church as
community. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dulles states, It picks up the biblical theme that God has fashioned for himself a people feely
communicating his spirit and his gifts (50). The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main
point of mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one
another, (43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work
together to reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of
what Church as mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this
model. The strength of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of
shutting them off. This is a strength because when people come together as a whole everything
holds so much more meaning and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much
more personal and voluntary. Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and
prayer life now that they feel that personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model
is that it creates unsure relationship between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to
get closer to God through the invisible such as communion while the visible structure like
institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over the whole people. I have discussed what the
models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now I will note the difference and

  • 2. Natural and Synthetic Materials Textiles are made up from natural or man made fibres or a combination of both. Fibres are thin, hair like structures (Blair, n.d: online) that are categorized into two types: long filament fibres and short staple fibres. Natural fibres are usually staple, whilst man made fibres are filament, with the exception of silkthat comes from a natural source. These raw fibres are spun to produce a long, continuous thread referred to as yarn, which is then used in a series of methods that include, stitching, knitting and weaving in order to produce a fabric. The content, construction and finish of a fabric can determine it s aesthetic and functional qualities. This essay will explore the classifications and characteristics of fibres, yarns and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Its desirability and expensive price has prompted cheaper man made imitations. (Udale, 2008)(IYNF, 2009) Man made fibres account for 68% of fibres used worldwide (CRFS, 2010: online). In the textile industry, man made fibres are categorized into two main types: cellulosic polymers and non cellulosic polymers. Cellulosic polymers are derived from the cellulose extracted from natural sources, such as plants and trees. The cellulose is then chemically treated to produce fibres such as rayon, acetate and triacetate. Non cellulosic polymers are those that are produced synthetically from different chemical compounds in order to produce fibres such as nylon, polyester and acrylic. (Udale, 2008) Often referred to as artificial silk because of its silk like aesthetic, rayon was one of the first man made fabrics to be developed having been in production since 1885 (Udale, 2008). Constructed from the cellulose of wood pulp, it was made to simulate natural fibres as well as to provide characteristics of its own (Corbman, 1983: p.9). Like cotton, it is soft, comfortable and versatile; it blends well with other fibres, and is often used for evening gowns as an alternative to silk because of its good drape. It is also a highly absorbent material that can be dyed easily. The durability of rayon is fairly low, it is easily damaged through abrasion and can shrink when washed, prompting dry clean aftercare instructions. (Swicol, 2010). Acetate is silk like ... My speech on that day started badly, sagged in the middle with long silences and finished in incomprehensible ramblings. I hope this one is a little better. In those day things were very different. We were not so forward and were very innocent...On our wedding day we sat up all night waiting for our sexual relations to arrive! How times have changed?when I first met Janet, Las Vegas hadn?t even been discovered. I remember meeting Janet for the first time. I knew then and there that she was Miss Right? It was some time later I discovered that her first name was ?always??. At our wedding reception two of the guests were the vicar and an elderly old uncle who were chatting in a corner. I offered them a drink and the vicar asked for a large whisky. The old uncle said ?No thanks; I?d rather go with a scarlet woman than touch the demon drink. The vicar promptly gave me back his drink and said ?I didn?t know there was a choice?. It was not until the late 19th century that an Irish author compiled a breadth of knowledge on such folkloric tales and concocted the character that now acts as the template for the vampire myth. As humans, we are stuck in our ways and we think that our ways and actions are always right, but that is not always the case other people might not see it the way we do. Being humans we have to understand that everyone has their own way of learning, and reading this chapter gave me a new perspective on that. HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT RELATED EMERGENCIES Introduction Heat exhaustion is one of several heat related emergencies that can be potentially fatal if not treated promptly and correctly. Heat related emergencies encompass three phases, which represent progressive worsening of symptoms and thus potential morbidity of the condition. These three phases include heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and ultimately heat stroke that without prompt treatment can result in serious injury or even death. Treatment of heat exhaustion and heat related emergencies is focused on prompt identification of symptoms and subsequent supportive treatment to reduce core body temperature and prevent potential complications associated with the condition. Education regarding identification of early signs of heat related emergencies has helped to reduced incidences of heat stroke, but current research has also found new ways to treat heat stroke and prevent complications associated with heat related emergencies. With this advent of new treatments outlooks for those suffering from heat stroke have improved, however the best treatment is still early identification and prevention of heat related emergencies. After the devastating attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar on December 16, 2014, which killed 135 children, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif announced a 20 point National Action Plan to combat terrorism, but none of the 20 points in the act pertained to students or education(Sheppard). The Pakistani government continues to fail its female citizens by not protecting them and their right to education. Not only does education need to be accessible, but it also needs to improve in quality. The quality of an education is greatly affected by a lack of resources. Lacking resources include money, technology, and protection that make education more affordable and accessible. Many schools that girls are able to attend in Pakistan are small and not publicly funded. This is a reason for why they are not able to hire quality teachers or invest in technology that will improve their education (Sharif). Since there are many more schools for boys that receive funds from the government, they will continue to be a step ahead of women in all areas of life. In this way, women lose the skills that enables them to think critically and question established wisdom, which thereby restricts them from rising above prejudice, myth, and historical legacies that are holding them back (Sharif). Some of Carol s ideas are ludicrous, out of proportion and not ready for the slow moving town. She tries several different approaches to reforming the town from the moment of her arrival. She goes from architectural reform to poetic reform to artistic to introducing liberalism to amusing social functions. All of these tactics she hopes will spring forth a reform movement to beautify and culturalize the town and people. Assuming an in depth reading of selected poems and lively discussions will take up the time, she is startled by the biographical and historical information that is shown off as great literary papers. Her idea of starting a dramatics association after a night of charades, becomes such in the weeks to follow. She experiences the overwhelming control of small town politics and agreement with association that is exhibited in the play selection process. Her choice for the leading lady is dictated by the longing for social acceptance and the simple art of sucking up. She ascertains that her vision of the perfect play has been tainted by the unmotivated, unreliable and unscrupulous cast she has assembled. The consistent snide, off handed remarks and unannounced, unwanted suggestions echo the toils of community theater groups across the present Midwest. Carol has wonderful aspirations and ideas to help awaken the sleepy town of Gopher Prairie, but she is held back by the stiff, stubborn close mindedness of the small town. The obstacles she encounters are her own self criticisms. It is quite true that the townswomen gossip about her to no end, but if she could stop and listen, they gossip about each other just as much. She does not comprehend that the common means of conversation in the town are achieved through the criticizing of others. Carol will never attain her dream village if she does not learn how to ... I will go on and explain in this essay, the play writer s use of literary techniques including setting, theme and characterisation which may make the decision seem correct or not. Talking Heads was originally produced for BBC television but has recently been used as a collection of short stories. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bennett reflects this very well by transferring this British habit to his characters. All of them are dead against a change in their lifestyle. This is excellently demonstrated in A Cream Cracker Doris wants to stay in her house, but the council recommends she moves to a nursing home , but she refuses on the grounds of hygiene clearly this shows that she is against a change of setting and a change of life and this is cleverly portrayed throughout the plays. Is their setting a safe haven or a prison? Looked at from different angles, we all would have different views. With Graham, his home and mainly his bedroom is a sanctuary for him, some where he can escape prejudice and critics, but on reflection what they really are is a hiding place , a place for Graham to hide away and wallow in self pity. But for Irene she feels her home is a prison. She has no freedom or liberty, no way to express herself. The only way she achieves this is by writing letters which may anger or offend other members in the community. But as she enters an actual prison she feels more freedom than when she was actually a free woman, that may seem strange to you and I, but for some people, this can be reality and a break from a life they do not enjoy. • 13. Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson Essay Miseducation of the Negro by Carter G. Woodson In his book, The Miseducation of the Negro, Carter G. Woodson addresses many issues that have been and are still prevalent in the African American community. Woodson believed that in the midst of receiving education, blacks lost sight of their original reasons for becoming educated. He believed that many blacks became educated only to assimilate to white culture and attempt to become successful under white standards, instead of investing in their communities and applying their knowledge to help other blacks. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas is a prime example of Woodson s argument on miseducated blacks. Although Thomas benefitted from programs like affirmative action, once he... They feel that these successful black men and women no longer have a connection to where they came from. This class rift is not only limited to black adults, but occurs in school age children and teenagers. Many small black children who dress well and have high grades in school are made fun of and picked on by their less fortunate peers. Black high school students who drive nice cars and live in upper class neighborhoods are sometimes labeled as bourgeois by their peers who come from working or lower class families. The contempt that is held amongst blacks is not only based on class and education, but can be found related to color and/or skin tone. Division among light skinned and dark skinned blacks dates back to slavery. On plantations the master used these skin categories to divide the house slaves and the field slaves. Since position inside of the house were easier and more comfortable , the slaves with lighter skin were envied by their darker peers who were given difficult outside jobs in the field. Ryals Writing 1 November 14, 2012 Socrates Stand on Democracy Having emphasized upon me the advantages of democracy, I have always believed that it is the best system to implement in a country. Ignoring the flaws and weaknesses of this type of system, I thought that the benefits outweigh all costs. I assume that giving the power to the people is better than having one person rule the state. However, in Platos account on the life of his mentor Socrates, we are able to see both sides of the spectrum: the pros and cons of democracy which are accounted in Plato s dialogues, the Apology and the Crito. Socrates, having been accused of impiety, is brought to trial in front of the jury of Athens. In his defense, he points... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet, he implies that the people would not favor anyone that opposes injustice which seems to be the common dealings in politics. He believes that he would have died long ago (34), although this is not his ultimate concern. What he truly cares about is not to do anything unjust or impious (32). Despite his criticisms on politics, Socrates is essentially reminding the people, especially those in authority, to serve a just and virtuous life. Outwardly stating the current situation of the government, he aims to provide the people a portrait of the shallow kind of democracy that they have come to maintain. Socrates seeks to prompt the majority to uphold the true sense of democracy, of fighting for justice and living life accordingly. Furthermore, Socrates uses his dialectical approach with his friend Crito in examining the contrast between the knowledge of the one and the pseudo knowledge of the many . He uses an analogy of a man involved in physical activities, whom must listen to the advice of the true expert in his training, rather than the opinions thrown by other people who barely know anything about these activities. Anyone who places a higher regard to the thoughts of the majority, rather than to the knowledge of the one who possess it, puts himself on greater harm (47). One reason why it continues to increase is mainly because of the significant amount of loans that are borrowed by college students but are not getting paid back; however, does anyone ever wonder where does the money that is put into colleges go to? Collegeprofessors are not the reason that college cost so much; in addition to, the money also goes towards sport teams, scholarships, and construction work in order to expand the campuses (Carey). Tuition at Stanford Universityin 1980 81 was $6,285. Thirty years later, Stanford s tuition had risen to $38,700. Tuition in 2011 12 is $40,050, Goodman stated. With that being said college tuition should be regulated because it would be more affordable, students would not feel as pressured, and the country s debt will slowly began to decrease. Although college tuition at the University of South Alabama is much cheaper than Stanford University it is still expensive to an average middle class family. College tuition should be regulated because it would be more affordable for students that are fresh out of high school. Tuition at the University of South Alabama for 2015 2016 is estimated to $9,240 but it could be either higher or lower for students in a specific major. When one thinks of where they see their child getting an education, it is typically a public school. Most children and adolescents dread going to school anyway, but why? Teens typically say they must go to school because they legally must. Even some parents may believe this excuse, but there are other options. Of course, there are private schools, home schools, charter schools, and even more options that could be better for students if public schoolis not efficient enough. Firstly, it should be addressed what is meant by the thought that one must legally go to school. Everyone has human rights and these human rights are what all people have no matter what. The twenty sixth is education. It is stated clearly that education should be free and that technical and professional education should be readily available and accessible to anyone. Individuals have no control over the amount of sorrow that is brought upon them. A few of these themes have been so prevalent that they have flourished throughout the entire sequence of humanities classes. One of the major themes in particular is the idea of truth and where people have found truth in society. Some believe that truth comes from religionand higher powers, while others believe that knowing as many angles of a certain idea gains knowledge and achieves truth. Over history, truth has developed from an absolute truth to a scientific and existential truth. During the pre modern world sequence, it was apparent that truth was validated by the use of religion and top members of society. This was shown through the work Hymn to the Aten. Egyptian people followed the Aten since he gave them a sense of purpose. At the time in history, religion was a major focus point in society and their lives. That pharaoh that is depicted in the picture was seen as the shining spirit of Aten. The pharaoh gained his knowledge through God which he then passed to his people. The Egyptians agreed on the fact that Aten provided truth since it was directly to the pharaoh through God. However, the weakness in this was that everyone believed the pharaoh to be true, which allowed the pharaoh to have absolute power over his people. At the onset of exercise, VO2 cannot initially support or new metabolic demands at sub maximal level, so an oxygen deficit is created and must be compensated by our anaerobic metabolic systems. As exercise continues, for about 3 5 minutes, our aerobic system syncs in and supplements VO2, and a steady state is achieved. Heartrate increases as exercise increases in order to support an increase in VO2 and the metabolic demands required to pump more blood; this represents and linear relationship. The second portion of the act is accountability, which was designed to ensure the security and confidentiality of administrative information and financial data as it relates to patient health information. • 41. Cognitive Theories Of Learning Focus On A Person s Intellect Cognitive Versus Constructivist Theories of Learning Cognitive theories of learning focus on a person s intellect. It pertains to how individuals process and maintain information that is vital in the course of learning. For instance, schema refers to an internal structure for arranging information. When new information is received it is compared with existing cognitive organizations known as schema. Schema can be altered, combined or extended in order to support new information (O Donnell, Reeve Smith, 2012, p. 58). Essentially, schemas are elements of understanding that can be categorized by level of importance as well as interconnected into complex connections with one another. Another element of cognitive learningtheory is the information processing approach. The information processing model refers to when an individual receives information from their surroundings through the senses, is then processed in short term memory before it is transmitted to long term memory where it is stored and later retrieved (de Castro, 2013, p. 281). Key ideas to this particular process of learning allows for meaningful information to be learned and remembered effortlessly. If a learner associates fairly insignificant information with previous schema it is retained more easily. It is also easier to recall items from the beginning or end of a list of facts than it is to remember details from the middle, except if the point is particularly distinct. There are also levels of processing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The rising concerns leading to the differences in opinions regarding LGBT emanate from the point of perceptions, cultural beliefs, religious values and political basis. • 45. The History Of Product Design The history of product design is a fickle subject. Through the years, the wheel has been invented and re invented many a time. That is because design is fluid. But at the same time, design is constant. Often the past inspires the present. Even more, the ideas of what the future can hold can end up creating the future of design. These design ideas can be seen trickling into both the works of Vico Magistretti and James Dyson. Often it is said that no one creates anything new anymore. It is true that you can t reinvent the wheel, but it can certainly be seen that designs from the past often inspire the future of design. Designs by Vico Magistretti in the 20th century have similar aesthetics to the designs of James Dyson, a 21st century inventor, and designer. Designs of James Dyson show that the present is rooted in the past. Designs and products of Vico Magistretti show that simple designs are timeless. Designs and products of James Dyson show that basic design philosophies are often repeated through time. Vico Magistretti is best known not just as an industrial designer, but as an architect as well. It actually seems like a natural combination. Even Frank Lloyd Wright is known to have designed the entire living experience surrounding his architectural planning. While Magistretti did not so far as to even design the clothes the homeowners were to wear, it only makes sense that Magistretti would envision his designs housed within yet another one of his designs. ... She has a set of six girls, her crГЁme de la crГЁme , who are called the Brodie set. One of the things that characterizes this novel is the way time is used. Instead of telling the story in a chronological order the author writes in a non sequential way, having paid a lot of attention to the order in which the events are told. This has an effect on the characterization of the character of Rose Stanley and Miss Jean Brodie herself, as focalized through the Brodie girls. • 47. Hal, Hotspur, and Personality in Shakespeare s Henry IV,... Hal, Hotspur and Personality in Henry IV, Part 1 Introduction: William Shakespeare s Henry IV, Part 1, composed during the last years of the 16th century, is as much as character study as it is a retelling of a moment in history. Though the play is titled for one king, it truly seems to revolve around the actions of the titular character s successor. Indeed, Henry IV is a story of the coming of age of Prince Hal and of the opposition that he must face in this evolution. This process gives narrative velocity to what is essentially a conflagration between two personality types. In Prince Hal, the audience is given a flawed but thoughtful individual. Equally flawed but more given over to action than thought is his former ally and now nemesis, Hotspur. In the latter, Shakespeare offers a warrior and a man of action and in the former, the playwright shows a politician in his nascent stages of development. The contrast between them will drive the play s action. Discussion: Hotspur s is decidedly not political or diplomatic in his orientation. Quite to the contrary, he is a figure unafraid to express anger, resentment and hostility toward the King. As he does so, he speaks with the tongue of a warrior, impassioned by his sense of honor and resistant to any calming reason. He speaks sarcastically and derisively with his own father for being reluctant to turn his back on Henry IV. Particularly because the Duke of Northumberland and his son had been so critical to helping Henry ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion Church as Institution and Church as Mystical Communion In 1974 Dulles published Models of the Church to address questions concerning ecclesiology the study of the church. Many people believe that they know the meaning of the church, which is a place to become closer to God. However, there is more than what meets the eye when it comes to the Church, since it is a very complex organization. Dulles book identifies and describes the different functions the Church possesses which Jesus Christ founded and continues to oversee today. He categorizes the models into five aspects: Church as institution, Church as mystical communion, Church as sacrament, Church as herald, Church as servant, and lastly his new model Church as community. In this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dulles states, It picks up the biblical theme that God has fashioned for himself a people feely communicating his spirit and his gifts (50). The Body of Christ as stated in Dulles is, the main point of mutual union, concern and dependence of the members of the local community upon one another, (43). The body of Christ will only function is the whole community is willing to work together to reach a personal growth in their relationship with God. Now that we have an idea of what Church as mystical communion consists of I will discuss the strengths and weakness of this model. The strength of this model is that emphasizes a shared life with the community instead of shutting them off. This is a strength because when people come together as a whole everything holds so much more meaning and people can form a stronger bond with God, now that it is much more personal and voluntary. Another strength is that this model improves people spirituality and prayer life now that they feel that personal connection that they formed. A weakness of this model is that it creates unsure relationship between the visible and invisible, since Grace allows people to get closer to God through the invisible such as communion while the visible structure like institutionalism tries to emphasize their power over the whole people. I have discussed what the models mean, their strength and weakness of each so now I will note the difference and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
