Technological Advancements Impact On Business Growth And...
Introduction
Technology has always played a major role in business growth and development. Its application has
risen at an unimaginable rate among enterprises. The resultant effect is that organizations continuously
experience innovation resulting from technological advances. The assimilation of technology
promotes modifications in organizational processes, tasks, and the nature of work. The technology
driven changes bring about an increase in the number of people using technological devices such as
computers to perform tasks. Technological advancements tremendously affect employee s morale,
nature of tasks, and impacts interactions among co workers. The managers of technological changes
need to play both the roles of implementers and technical developers. The introduction of technology
to an organization comes with a vast array of challenges to the management.
Most of the changes in the marketplace are driven by technological advancements. Technological
innovations in the marketplace are categorized into two, namely: sustaining and disruptive
innovations. Innovations that do not significantly impact the existing markets are defined as sustaining
innovations. Disruptive innovations, on the other hand, are innovations that result into a new market
and value network. They disrupt existing markets and value networks. Whether sustaining or
disrupting, businesses are supposed to anticipate change and prepare in advance. Appropriate action is
required to deal with changing

The New York City Draft Riots
15.4: The Union Triumphant [keywords] Copperheads New York City Draft Riots Sherman s
March to the Sea [/keywords] [learning objectives] By the end of this section, you will be able to:
Describe the reasons why many Americans doubted that Abraham Lincoln would be reelected Explain
how the Union forces overpowered the Confederacy By the outset of 1864, after three years of war,
the Union had mobilized its resources for the ongoing struggle on a massive scale. The government
had overseen the construction of new railroad lines and for the first time used standardized rail tracks
that allowed the North to move men and materials with greater ease. The North s economy had shifted
to a wartime model. The Confederacy also mobilized, perhaps to a greater degree than the Union, its
efforts to secure independence and maintain slavery. Yet the Confederacy experienced ever greater
hardships after years of war. Without the population of the North, it faced a shortage of manpower.
The lack of industry, compared to the North, undercut the ability to sustain and wage war. Rampant
inflation as well as food shortages in the South lowered morale.
THE RELATIONSHIP WITH
EUROPE From the beginning of the war, the Confederacy placed great hope in being recognized and
supported by Great Britain and France. European intervention in the conflict remained a strong
possibility, but when it did occur, it was not in a way anticipated by either the Confederacy or the
Union. Napoleon III of

News On Foreign News And Its Impact On Society s View On...
Thinking of a question related to news was difficult because I am a journalism major and news is a hot
topic within my major. News is a very broad statement and can mean many different things. It also
brings all kinds of questions to mind. Originally I went with a broad question that later turned into a
very specific topic making the research much easier. My first question was, How does news based in
the United States effect societies views on other countries? How does foreign news affect their
societies view on the United States? By trying to find simple research on this through the MU Library,
I was quick to find that in order to write a successful research paper it is vital to have a more specific
question to get the answers you want. I was not finding specific research that included specific
information on foreign news and its societal affects.
After some struggles, one article popped out to me about news on foreign countries and their economy
so I decided to look at how the positive and negative news written about a foreign country later effects
that economy. My question then became, How does an article written in a specific country affect the
economy of a foreign nation? For example, if a news program based in the United States were to write
an article about China, how would that article truly affect the economy of China. It has been seen that
news can change the perspective of the way people see the world and all that goes on among the
economic leaders. By

Textual Analysis Of 12 Angry Men
Although 12 Angry Men was produced in the late fifties it s still a great movie for any viewer to
watch. The film s intensifying conflict does not meet a twenty first century viewer s expectations such
as special effects and character development. However, it is interesting to consider how the film has
incorporated elements like coherent scenes and background music into its production. This film
provides a detailed dialogue of the characters along with character development which entices the
viewer throughout its duration.
This courthouse drama has assigned twelve men to jury duty. The viewer will find this murder case
mystifying by the underlying theme of prejudice. Although the film lacks in special effects and
providing a picturesque setting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All the characters have a different opinion, which requires them all to have an opposing viewpoint.
The characters use of actions is what interests the viewer as they present their thought on what
occurred during this murder. If it s not the fury from juror three then we are following the calm,
rational juror eight. As juror three raises his voice and has one of his many mood altering moments,
we are afraid that he might lose his sanity. The acting in this film goes much further than the character
s mood, a great use of acting is in the reenactment scene of how the weapon entered the victim. As
juror three takes the knife and holds it over one of the fellow jurors and makes the motion of stabbing
him we are certain this man has lost control and let his anger take over. However, we are surprised
when he stops right before contacting the other man s body. 12 Angry Men not only has suspenseful
scenes that add to the overall movie, but it also has the emotional development that makes this film
magnificent. In the closing scene, after all men have agreed to pardon the defendant, juror three finally
reaches an emotional breaking point; however, it is not the way we anticipated. As all the other men
exit the room, he is left weeping at the table over the loss of his son. In a surprising moment, juror
eight sets aside the last few hours of fury between them and offers support to this man. While 12
Angry Men excels in acting

Batman Masculinity
The way our society views what it means to be a man is shaped by family, community, and popular
culture. While the narrow definition of acceptable masculinity has expanded in the last three decades,
there is still a great amount of anxiety and pressure over being the right kind of man. Like many of my
generation, gender performance and masculinity were formed by reading and watching superhero
narratives as a youth. What were the deeper messages in those stories that engrossed our weekends
and evening hours and what do they say about us as a society?
A perfect microcosm of how gender is treated in the genre was the way Batman and The Joker in
graphic novels were reshaped by changing demands of masculinity. In the 1980 s two graphic ... Show

As Alan Moore had dismissed Morrison when he had asked for Moore permission to continue working
on a series, he had left. Alan Moore style of writing takes a naturalistic tone whenever possible and
has his characters grapple with insecurity and neuroses. Grant Morrison said...
I don t think it was right for super heroes to be bogged down with real world problems. I was more
interested in going into their world, I wanted to find out, what it was like in there... where the sky was
always blue and everything was primary colored. Where time was represented by boxes and you can
cut between one moment and ten years over the space of a gutter. So again, that s why I always
thought my agenda and my projects, was so different... I felt Moore was about bring the grit and grim
and messing them up and exposing their futility and the frailty and to me it s like I don t want to
expose the futility and the frailty of one of the last great ideas we have, Morrison (2010)
This funhouse mirror that the two writers have towards each other work is reflected in how women are
used in these stories. As female characters are approached with opposite motifs, Arkham Asylum has
no female characters and only alludes to the feminine in relation to sexual violence and how it is
treated by the mental health system. Many of the inmates discuss their needs and wants in a vain effort
to persuade Batman that

Statue Of Liberty Research Paper
History of the Monument The Statue of Liberty has had many symbolic representations from its
creation. The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The French
valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham Lincoln.
This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees the Statue of
Liberty and the Ellis island monument they should remember the history and process that America
went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. This monument should commemorate
what the American dream means such as Liberty and equality for all. Since this representation is what
many citizens or immigrants thought of when they crossed through ... Show more content on

The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there has
been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit ones
argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship between two
democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom
represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical
governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new
beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with Americans, anti immigration believers
began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more migrants as they thought that these new
immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The statues reception adjusted throughout the
United States with factors such as geography and political parties. As the Statue was put together
during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many southerners thought it was to show the that
the union had won and prospered. Also it represented how there was no longer slaves in the United
States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point of view from the South. In the North, the Statue
was widely received as a symbol of a new America. Many parades were held on the unveiling of the
Statue and its popularity quickly

The piece is classified as Aboriginal Australian literature. It was published in the 1960 s. The purpose
of the text is to give hope in a new beginning after the events involving the racial tension between the
Aboriginals and the white settlers. The poem is directed to the Aboriginal people of Australia who
suffered from these events This poem relates to Aboriginal Australian as it was written by the hand
and views of one, and was written for the Aboriginals. The text itself is very emotive and powerful
and I personally was unable to resist the emotions it reverberates however I cannot say whether it
would be the same for anyone who could read it. This poem however can be indirectly confronting to
those who don t share the same viewpoints as Walker. The also poem has a degree of stereotyping in
the sense where love your people, freedom to the end takes place however there none that really
strikes out as it. The white Australian perspective above all is silenced in this text, marginalized are
her perspectives of the coming days which may well be shared by many like her. Kath makes the
poem very personal by the use of words like I and we for example, she begins the poem by saying,
Look up, my people . This makes it feel more tailored for whomever the poem is directed to. The
poem also has a rhyming pattern of not rhyme line , B, B, C. Also, there is intertextual referencing to

how well it works is analyzed. Adopt the view of the Prime Minister. Consider the character s
strengths, responsibilities, and blind spots. Why is the Prime Minister in this dilemma? 1. Are the
charges of the environmental groups true? Yes. Based on the information in the case, timber

Western Malaysia and Eastern Malaysia. The primary exports to Western countries come from
finished goods out of Western Malaysia, whereas in Eastern Malaysia (Sarawak and Sabah) they
primarily export raw materials to the Eastern world. 4. What is your hypothesis? Decision options:
The Prime Minister has a few choices: * The Malaysian government rejects criticism and threats of the
Western government and environmentalists, making no changes to current policies but keeping a close
eye on fixing some of the problems, particularly in Eastern Malaysia. * The Malaysian government
accepts the criticism of the Western government and environmentalists, making all necessary changes.
* The Malaysia government makes selective changes to policy based on the criticism of the Western
government and environmentalists. Considerations: * Connections with the US and Europe based on
his government s ambitious economic strategy for growth. * The use of natural resources like the
forests, the impact on the country. * The relations with environmental groups outside Malaysia. * The
motive of Western based environmental groups. Who s driving this bus? Is it the competition in the

Persuasive Essay On Society Hacking
Have you ever had your phone or computer hacked before? I know I have, and many times it happens
without me even realizing it. In today s society hacking has become so easy that even the most
inexperienced hackers can manage to steal your private data. This is one of my main reasons for not
supporting electronic voting machines (EVMs). I feel that in addition to the security and integrity of
the vote it also saves states on the hefty costs to obtain and routinely maintenance these machines.
EVMs also may sound good to the new generation of Iphone and Android cell phone users, but for the
older generations this technology may be extremely confusing. Paper ballots have been the method of
voting for many years and have not caused so much conflict, why try to change a system that s
effective?
I recall vivdly one of the first times I had my computer hacked, from one moment to the next it was
like my computer had a mind of it s own. Links, buttons and keys were pressed that I wasn t doing and
all the while there was a hacker somewhere trying to steal my private information. In today s society
hacking has truly evolved from these types of attacks and have made cyber security even more
important. Just this year 1 of the 3 major credit buerau s was hacked and millions of confidential data
was compromised. Just imagine how dangerous it could be to have your private voting information
exposed. I recall during a recent election one of the candidates comments about the polls being

Summary Of Short Story By Rabindranath Tagore
Through the story, Tagore is primarily concerned with criticism of social behaviour, which he
condemns without didacticism but also without complacency. Women, in Tagore s short stories is most
often a living dead, a known person whom society deprives of independence. At first subjected to her
father, then to her husband, and at last to her son. They are caught in a conflict between the individual
aspirations and social demands. They are torn between self expression and social stigmas (
psychological and material ). In the story, the writer deals with a contrast between good and evil,
innocence and experience, life and death. He blends in it the techniques of psycho analysis and being
unconscious factors (forging a short span of death) to interpret her existence at social and personal
levels. The author leads the audience to participate emotionally in the protagonist s conflict with her
own unconscious experience. He aims his audience to achieve a state of awareness, which implies
both an intellectual perception of the wholeness of situations and more importantly emotionally
behaviour of the turmoiled life. The story also maintains the impact of Aristotle s theory Catharsis as
by the catastrophic end of Kadambini, the audience is purged of the emotions of pity and fear . Tagore
s short stories divulge in many psychological emotions which are acknowledged through his
characters. His main interest is the inner man , the sou l or the psyche of the individual

The story of Erika Riemann is a rather upsetting one to say the least. Erika Riemann was a political

That she drew a bow on a picture of Josef Stalin s moustache. When World War II ended,

Riemann remembers being arrested and then taken to a dungeon in Ludwigslut. It was there that
Riemann was questioned and broken down until she was forced to confess to a crime she had not
committed or been a part of as a part of a Nazi movement (Molloy 2009). The secondary source states
that the main purpose of the prisons was for interrogating prisoners. They were to confess to a crime
they did not commit and these accusations were usually entirely false (Gulag: Soviet Prison Camps
and Their Legacy page 26), as was the case of Riemann. The atrocities that Erika Riemann
experienced and observed during her time in the camps can be evidenced through the secondary
sources that states that there was a surge of random arrests that were made that came to a point where
an internal review made by the Soviet authorities presented the wrongful arrests of 35000 people as it
was the case for Riemann. In 1948, most of the people who were unjustly arrested were released.
Thousands of others who were not released were passed on to the East German powers for their

Significance Of Cpt Nathan Hale
It s hard to pinpoint which events, what people, and how exactly they influenced Military Intelligence
to be what it is today, but for America there is little doubt that CPT Nathan Hale had an impact. CPT
Nathan Hale was one of the first spies during the Revolutionary War. He went behind enemy lines to
provide intelligence directly to George Washington. It ultimately cost him his life, rumor has it he was
sold out by a family member. However this helped shaped how intelligence was conducted relating to
spies. Nathan Hale was born on June 2nd in 1755 in Coventry Connecticut. In 1773 he graduated from
Yale College and started his career as a teacher. During the year 1775 events took place that began the
development of the Revolutionary War. Events such as Patrick Henry s inspiring Give me liberty or

fire and British soldiers were alerted to be on the lookout for Patriot Sympathizers. While Hale was

visualization utilizes computer based visual representations of information to enhance and extend
human thinking. Visual components are broadly used because human eyes can process visual signals
more rapidly and human brains can understand them more easily. Since the first IEEE conference on
Information Visualization in 1990 [1], this technology has been broadly used in various subjects such
as earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to represent copious data
and potential patterns visually and obviously. In non science disciplines, such as business, digital
libraries, human behavior, information visualization has also been applied. The emerging data from
the everywhere in the world make the birth of big data era. There exist potential values in those data,
while the big volume, variety and velocity [2] of the data make it nearly impossible for humans to
analyze resources manually so as to find the hidden treasures. Under this circumstance, the concept

Langston writes strictly about his life experiences in his poetry. While doing so he still tries to answer
questions many of his fellow African Americans have. Maintaining his life experiences in his poetry is

Critical Criminology Marc Lepines
Analysis
Miller (2009) indicated that, Critical criminology is an umbrella term for a variety of criminological
theories and perspectives that challenge core assumptions of mainstream (or conventional)
criminology in some substantial way and provide alternative approaches to understanding crime and
its control, (p. 210). Some of the critical perspectives of crime include Marxists, political economy,
and Critical feminism. Donnermeyer DeKeseredy (2008) summarized critical criminology as
perspectives that consider views sources of crime as a weakness within the society due to issues of
class, ethnic, and gender. A few people in the political or other class elites control the capitalist

Over 3000 workers of Lockheed Corporation are unionized under the IAM and are always in track
with the labor union. The union has always negotiated in several instances regarding the welfare of the
workers of Lockheed. In 2009, IAM came under much negotiation with the management of Lockheed
at Fort Worth where the corporation manufactures jets. The issues at play in that case were healthcare
costs and pensions where the workers were over 3,900 people in total opposition with the management
of the corporation. At an address to the workers on 19th April, 2009, IAM President promised the
workers that the union would keenly negotiate for a fair and just contract between the members and
the management of Lockheed (Julian Denver, 2011). The core of the matter in this regard emerged out
of the decision by Lockheed s management to announce that it would eliminate pension programs for
new hires and would also increase healthcare costs for all the workers at the corporation s Fort Worth
plant. The IAM Negotiating Committee promised that it would effectively address the issue with the
parties and warned Lockheed against its wrong moves. There were also allegations that the company
was planning to introduce very expensive healthcare plans if the workers rejected the idea of
elimination of the then present healthcare plan (Sears, 2006). In the course

There was one day where I woke up feeling like if I was going to win the lottery and it gave me a
heads up that something good was going to just by the way I woke up. But at the time I was doing

Greek Tragic Heroes
Tragic heroes in Greek Tragedy consist of five main characteristics. First of all the character must pass
from happiness to misery. Secondly the character must not be perfectly just, but must be of good
character. Thirdly, the character s downfall must not result from immorality. Fourthly his downfall
must be a result of a hamartia, or a tragic flaw. Last, he must belong to distinguished family in order to
make the fall all the greater. In Sophocles Oedipus Rex Oedipus best represents the characteristics of a
tragic hero. In the beginning of the novel Oedipus is the successful ruler of Thebes with a loving wife
and four wonderful children. The citizens of Thebes respect him and obey his laws. However after the

Introduction. The Goals Of The Organization Cannot Be...
Introduction The goals of the organization cannot be fulfilled without the skills or talent of the
employees and a direction to apply them. The employees will have goals, actions, and behaviors to
bring the company closer to the organization s vision. Moving forward requires direction so that new
and current employees stay on track. Appraising an employee may affect their base pay, promotional
status, and retention decisions. The employees who are found to have deficiencies may be identified
and corrected when their appraisal is interpreted. This can also reinforce the employees existing
strengths. A performance appraisal reviews an employee s career plans and identify any training

Those who may use the different methods to evaluate the employee s performance include the
immediate supervisor, peers, committees, anonymous subordinates, and a 360 degree feedback, which
is all or some of the personnel listed and others outside the organization the employee has direct
contact. The simplest method is the graphic rating scale. It lists several job dimensions or traits,
competencies, or specific goals, and a range of performance values like below expectations, above
average, and role model. The supervisor is the evaluator who then totals the rating for the overall
evaluation. For companies who have a number of employees to rate may elect to use the alternation
ranking method. During the process, the employees rated are in a list. The staff unknown is crossed
out. The dimensions are listed and the best performing employee is mentioned at the top and worst at
the bottom, then alternates to the last employee. Similar to the alternation method, is the paired
comparison method. Listing all the traits and employees, the rater puts a plus or negative next to the
employee who pairs with the trait. The employee with the most plus signs is the highest ranking. The
force distribution method may work for some larger companies that can afford to terminate lower
ranking employees while others would rather work to build those on the bottom percent up to a higher

The Value of Human Life
The Value of Human Life: A Comparison amp; Contrast on Various Models Employed
Faculty of Economics
Outline
There is increasing debate on the question in what value should be placed upon human life. Numerous
agencies and policy makers have taken great interest in tackling the issue of human life valuation.
Although there is increasing controversies that surround producing estimates for valuing a human life,
it is imperative to understand the importance of reaching an economic value attached to a human life.
The ability to successfully quantify an individual s life would provide policy makers a type of
compass that would aid them in creating advantageous health policies for an entire society. This paper
aims to analyze the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus, standard HK estimates incorporate a zero value for persons without labor income such as retired
individuals with only investment or pension income , (Landefeld amp; Seskin, 1982). The advantages
in using the HK model are two fold. Primarily there is relative ease in using the HK model as the data
that is necessary to compute the model is not difficult to obtain. Moreover, the HK model provides
numerical estimates from indisputable measures without including any objective numbers based on
unquantifiable data. The object of the HK model is to place a monetary value on human life from
purely economic and productive measures by measuring labor force participation and projected
earnings, in which the HK model succeeds. According to Card amp; Mooney however, the HK model
has two main weaknesses First it takes no account of either the existing decision making processes in
the Health Service or the views of the individual patients at risk. Secondly, it implies that the objective
of health care is to add to the productive capacity of the nation, which is true but it is not the sole
objective , (Card amp; Mooney, 1977).
In light of the limitations in the HK model, a model that takes a more comprehensive measure of the
private valuation individuals place on small reductions in risk and the probability of death. This model
is named as the Willingness to Pay Model (WTP). According to Landefeld amp; Seskin the WTP
model would take into

Essay On Classification Of Race
Everywhere today we are all categorized by race; but what is race? Where does it come from, who
dictates what s our race, what it is? Race is a group of people who share a set of characteristic mostly
but not all the time physical ones, and are said to share a common bloodline (Conley,322). Therefore,
Race is created by society who wanted to divide people into different category based in their color and
biologically features. Physically features, people thought it would be much convenient to tell the
difference between white and non white human, when they start it off with the one drop rule. The one
drop rule is when they have a one drop of black blood makes a person black(Conley,331). Which
indicates that if you would of taking the test of blood it tells you from your ancestors that were African
American and that makes you black person. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Negroid race was to fit into African, Hottentots, Melanesians/Papua, as well as Australian Aborigine,
Dravidians, and Sinhalese. Mongoloid fits into northern, Chinese and Indo Chinese, Japanese and
Korean, and American Indian. The last one would be Caucasian Aryans, Hamites, and Semites. These
three races where made so everybody would fit into one of these categories based on biological
features whether white or black skin. As time went by society started creating more races based on
people s color, ethnicity and language it was the idea to justify the inequality. Ethnicity is one s ethnic
quality or affliction, it is a voluntary self defined, nontheatrical, fluid and multiple, and based on
culture difference not physicals ones(Conley). Race does not determine the person s color of their
skin, usually the ancestors in the meaning of classification to human race. However, humans were
interpreting the race for so many years that is nearly impossible to prevent the mix of human races to

The government had overseen the construction of new railroad lines and for the first time used standardized rail tracks that allowed the North to move men and materials with greater ease. The North s economy had shifted to a wartime model. The Confederacy also mobilized, perhaps to a greater degree than the Union, its efforts to secure independence and maintain slavery. Yet the Confederacy experienced ever greater hardships after years of war. Without the population of the North, it faced a shortage of manpower. The lack of industry, compared to the North, undercut the ability to sustain and wage war. Rampant inflation as well as food shortages in the South lowered morale.
THE RELATIONSHIP WITH EUROPE From the beginning of the war, the Confederacy placed great hope in being recognized and supported by Great Britain and France. European intervention in the conflict remained a strong possibility, but when it did occur, it was not in a way anticipated by either the Confederacy or the Union. Napoleon III of ... • 4. News On Foreign News And Its Impact On Society s View On... Thinking of a question related to news was difficult because I am a journalism major and news is a hot topic within my major. News is a very broad statement and can mean many different things. It also brings all kinds of questions to mind. Originally I went with a broad question that later turned into a very specific topic making the research much easier. My first question was, How does news based in the United States effect societies views on other countries? How does foreign news affect their societies view on the United States? By trying to find simple research on this through the MU Library, I was quick to find that in order to write a successful research paper it is vital to have a more specific question to get the answers you want. I was not finding specific research that included specific information on foreign news and its societal affects. After some struggles, one article popped out to me about news on foreign countries and their economy so I decided to look at how the positive and negative news written about a foreign country later effects that economy. My question then became, How does an article written in a specific country affect the economy of a foreign nation? For example, if a news program based in the United States were to write an article about China, how would that article truly affect the economy of China. It has been seen that news can change the perspective of the way people see the world and all that goes on among the economic leaders. By ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

 • 6. Textual Analysis Of 12 Angry Men Although 12 Angry Men was produced in the late fifties it s still a great movie for any viewer to watch. The film s intensifying conflict does not meet a twenty first century viewer s expectations such as special effects and character development. However, it is interesting to consider how the film has incorporated elements like coherent scenes and background music into its production. This film provides a detailed dialogue of the characters along with character development which entices the viewer throughout its duration. This courthouse drama has assigned twelve men to jury duty. The characters use of actions is what interests the viewer as they present their thought on what occurred during this murder. If it s not the fury from juror three then we are following the calm, rational juror eight. As juror three raises his voice and has one of his many mood altering moments, we are afraid that he might lose his sanity. The acting in this film goes much further than the character s mood, a great use of acting is in the reenactment scene of how the weapon entered the victim. As juror three takes the knife and holds it over one of the fellow jurors and makes the motion of stabbing him we are certain this man has lost control and let his anger take over. However, we are surprised when he stops right before contacting the other man s body. 12 Angry Men not only has suspenseful scenes that add to the overall movie, but it also has the emotional development that makes this film magnificent. In the closing scene, after all men have agreed to pardon the defendant, juror three finally reaches an emotional breaking point; however, it is not the way we anticipated. As all the other men exit the room, he is left weeping at the table over the loss of his son. In a surprising moment, juror eight sets aside the last few hours of fury between them and offers support to this man. While 12 Angry Men excels in acting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While the narrow definition of acceptable masculinity has expanded in the last three decades, there is still a great amount of anxiety and pressure over being the right kind of man. Like many of my generation, gender performance and masculinity were formed by reading and watching superhero narratives as a youth. What were the deeper messages in those stories that engrossed our weekends and evening hours and what do they say about us as a society? A perfect microcosm of how gender is treated in the genre was the way Batman and The Joker in graphic novels were reshaped by changing demands of masculinity. In the 1980 s two graphic ... The Statue of Liberty was built by the French and given to United States in 1886. The French valued the democratic meaning and leaders that had prospered in America such as Abraham Lincoln. This view can also be transferred to the American point of view. When an American sees the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis island monument they should remember the history and process that America went through to achieve a fully democratic and equal society. The idea behind it representing a new life for immigrants is the most commonly known yet there has been pivotal moments in history in which it s representation is taken into different ways to fit ones argument. At first the French gave the Statue to the US a symbol of a strong relationship between two democratic nations. Then when slaves were free the Statue of Liberty s broken shackles at the bottom represented their new opportunities when it actually was supposed to be freedom from monarchical governments. When immigrants began arriving through Ellis island it soon became a symbol of new beginnings and Liberty. When immigrants hit a new nerve with Americans, anti immigration believers began using the Statue of Liberty as a way to restrict more migrants as they thought that these new immigrants would tear down the Statue of Liberty. The statues reception adjusted throughout the United States with factors such as geography and political parties. As the Statue was put together during the reconstruction phase after the Civil war, many southerners thought it was to show the that the union had won and prospered. Also it represented how there was no longer slaves in the United States. This all contributed to a mostly negative point of view from the South. Summary Of Short Story By Rabindranath Tagore Through the story, Tagore is primarily concerned with criticism of social behaviour, which he condemns without didacticism but also without complacency. Women, in Tagore s short stories is most often a living dead, a known person whom society deprives of independence. At first subjected to her father, then to her husband, and at last to her son. They are caught in a conflict between the individual aspirations and social demands. They are torn between self expression and social stigmas ( psychological and material ). In the story, the writer deals with a contrast between good and evil, innocence and experience, life and death. He blends in it the techniques of psycho analysis and being unconscious factors (forging a short span of death) to interpret her existence at social and personal levels. The author leads the audience to participate emotionally in the protagonist s conflict with her own unconscious experience. He aims his audience to achieve a state of awareness, which implies both an intellectual perception of the wholeness of situations and more importantly emotionally behaviour of the turmoiled life. The story also maintains the impact of Aristotle s theory Catharsis as by the catastrophic end of Kadambini, the audience is purged of the emotions of pity and fear . They were to confess to a crime they did not commit and these accusations were usually entirely false (Gulag: Soviet Prison Camps and Their Legacy page 26), as was the case of Riemann. The atrocities that Erika Riemann experienced and observed during her time in the camps can be evidenced through the secondary sources that states that there was a surge of random arrests that were made that came to a point where an internal review made by the Soviet authorities presented the wrongful arrests of 35000 people as it was the case for Riemann. Information Visualization And Data Mining Part 1: Introduction 1.1 Information Visualization and Data Mining The continuous developing advanced technology has been leading to the generation of millions of terabytes of information every year. Most of them can be available in digital forms [1]. The large amount of information is no longer hard for human to locate and achieve thanks to the quick development of search engine such as Google. However, understanding information is still a problem for most humans. Information visualization utilizes computer based visual representations of information to enhance and extend human thinking. Visual components are broadly used because human eyes can process visual signals more rapidly and human brains can understand them more easily. Since the first IEEE conference on Information Visualization in 1990 [1], this technology has been broadly used in various subjects such as earth science, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science in order to represent copious data and potential patterns visually and obviously. In non science disciplines, such as business, digital libraries, human behavior, information visualization has also been applied. The emerging data from the everywhere in the world make the birth of big data era. The simplest method is the graphic rating scale. It lists several job dimensions or traits, competencies, or specific goals, and a range of performance values like below expectations, above average, and role model. The supervisor is the evaluator who then totals the rating for the overall evaluation. For companies who have a number of employees to rate may elect to use the alternation ranking method. During the process, the employees rated are in a list. The staff unknown is crossed out. The dimensions are listed and the best performing employee is mentioned at the top and worst at the bottom, then alternates to the last employee. Similar to the alternation method, is the paired comparison method. Listing all the traits and employees, the rater puts a plus or negative next to the employee who pairs with the trait. The employee with the most plus signs is the highest ranking. The force distribution method may work for some larger companies that can afford to terminate lower ranking employees while others would rather work to build those on the bottom percent up to a higher rate on the ... Although there is increasing controversies that surround producing estimates for valuing a human life, it is imperative to understand the importance of reaching an economic value attached to a human life. Thus, standard HK estimates incorporate a zero value for persons without labor income such as retired individuals with only investment or pension income , (Landefeld amp; Seskin, 1982). The advantages in using the HK model are two fold. Primarily there is relative ease in using the HK model as the data that is necessary to compute the model is not difficult to obtain. Moreover, the HK model provides numerical estimates from indisputable measures without including any objective numbers based on unquantifiable data. The object of the HK model is to place a monetary value on human life from purely economic and productive measures by measuring labor force participation and projected earnings, in which the HK model succeeds. According to Card amp; Mooney however, the HK model has two main weaknesses First it takes no account of either the existing decision making processes in the Health Service or the views of the individual patients at risk. Secondly, it implies that the objective of health care is to add to the productive capacity of the nation, which is true but it is not the sole objective , (Card amp; Mooney, 1977). In light of the limitations in the HK model, a model that takes a more comprehensive measure of the private valuation individuals place on small reductions in risk and the probability of death. This model is named as the Willingness to Pay Model (WTP). According to Landefeld amp; Seskin the WTP model would take into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
