Picture Framing Objects
While paintings and photography are among the most popular items many display on their walls, there
is a variety of options available when it comes to decorating walls at home. Trying the unique
souvenirs and heirlooms picture framing objects will give a home a highly personalized and unique
piece of decoration.
A custom frame displays a piece of heirloom jewelry in a very unique way instead of it being hidden
in a jewelry box. If an antique brooch is hand wrapped in a fabric mat and covered with an ornate gold
molding, it will give a very stunning display on the walls of a home.
Similarly, a vintage scarf in a frame that is handcrafted transforms an everyday accessory into a very
beautiful piece of art. These individually owned pieces which ... Show more content on

A collage display due to a wonderful arrangement in a den or in the living room will surely trigger
conversations now and again in many homes.
Picture framing can also be used as a thoughtful personalized gift. If a family loves a particular music
genre, then presenting a picture frame of their favorite artist and present it to a family member will be
a gift of its kind.
This idea is applicable for those people who are extremely rich and have unpredictable gift
preferences. For example a hip hop lover can be given a framed picture of Rick Ross coupled with his
latest music in a simple wood shadowbox. This gift will be considered as a timeless gift that they will
forever cherish and display forever in their study rooms, living rooms and offices.
A wall decoration does not necessarily need to be kept solely for photographs and paintings. If you are
looking to decorate the interior of a house with something different other than oil painting or
watercolor, then picture framing of treasured family memories is a really wonderful way to transcend
a keepsake into a mouth watering piece of

Stricter Laws Essay
Every year passenger vehicles contribute a large portion of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides
in our air, although there are laws and regulations set to help reduce these pollutants I believe stricter
laws and regulations should be enacted to further reduce green house gas emissions produced by
vehicles in order to protect our environment and slow the process of global warming. Some of the
strictest regulations in relevance to green house gas emissions (GHG) in the United States are found in
California. This is because California is the second highest GHG emitting state in the nation behind
Texas, however California has 30 percent more citizens and 40 percent lower land mass than Texas
making California significantly denser ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DMV.org lists the process in which emissions are regulated in these areas. State to state the emissions
testing procedures are generally conducted identically. A tailpipe emissions test is performed on
vehicles with a 1995 or older model year. This involves inserting a probe into the tailpipe to measure
the amount of pollutants in the car s emissions. Vehicles with a 1996 or newer model year will have an
emissions test through an On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. This style of smog check involves a
data exchange between the car s computer and the technician s computer and shows if emissions
systems are working correctly. The pollutants that are being measured in both tests are: carbon
monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons (HC), oxygen (O2), and oxides of nitrogen
(NOx). Some may argue that the emissions regulations that are in place are good enough. However
when we compare Californias strict emissions regulations to other states we quickly find flaws in the
other states systems. For example in Connecticut only a Catalytic converter (a piece of a vehicles
exhaust system) is required in order to pass emissions. No other testing is conducted other than a
slight glance at the under side of the car to see if indeed the Catalytic converter is there. Though a
catalytic converters function on a

Siren Song Margaret Atwood
The One Song Everyone Would Like to Learn: Siren Song
Poetry can be used to provide the average person a daunting realization about how easy it is to fall into
the trap of manipulation. A siren, a female and partly human creatures in Greek mythology that lured
mariners to destruction by their singing , is a magical example of this manipulation (Merriam
Webster). The song sung by a siren, or a siren song is used to mesmerize and draw in the victim,
showing the strength of a womens appeal and how easy it is to lure men into a false sense of courage
because of their vanity. The poem Siren Song by Margaret Atwood portrays just this: an artistic piece
of literature that exposes the vanity within men and the blinding appeal and power of woman who
abuses her aspects of temptation through the use of powerful diction and emotion in the carefully
structured form of her poem.
The title of this poem, Siren Song , is significant to the poem as it provides the reader its speaker. The
title introduces the speaker being a siren, in the process, warning the reader about deceit in the poem.
She continues by addressing that the song as one that everyone would like to ... Show more content on

In the poem, Atwood subtly plays with form and punctuation creating switches of tone and emotion
within the poem much like a siren would subtly enchant her victim. Her diction and decisions to
repeat words that create auras of intimacy also reflect on how a siren would create feelings of
uniqueness and closeness within the individual, compelling him. By bringing the reader under a false
sense of superiority and comfort, Margaret Atwood not only makes readers aware of captivating
deceptions in life but also forces the reader into experiencing this unyielding pressure of

Analysis Of Bass Concerns About Charlie s Life
As the weeks went by, Bass concerns about Charlie s motives slowly diminished. She continued to
stay close to him and the children and Connor was never mentioned again.
In fact, after those first few disorienting days, Charlie had never mentioned her dream world again
even though she still didn t feel as though she belonged here. Granted, she was no longer able to
imagine not being a mother, showering Sunny and Ethan with all the attention and love she felt that
she had never received, nor could she imagine not being married to Bass, but she could just never
shake the feeling that there was something not quite right.
She requested that a tiny crossbow be made for Ethan and was beyond delighted when it arrived,

It was after that the dreams started, leaving her clinging to Bass in the dark.
After the first few times of him offering to listen and Charlie remaining silent, she finally began to
open up to him in stuttering bursts, describing to him horrible things that would surely drive anyone
mad, until he couldn t bear to listen any longer. That was when he would attempt to kiss away the
pain, letting her take control as she took comfort from his body.
Tonight was no different as she crawled on top of him, kissing him fiercely as she slid her already
swollen pussy slowly down his cock, seating herself with a co mingled groan from them both.
Trailing her fingers down the flat planes of his abs, She began to slowly move, pitching herself
forward, her lips hovering just above his. Has it always been like this? she asked rolling her hips,
making him groan.
Bass threaded his hands through her hair as he licked her lips. Always, he answered, rolling them over.
Pulling a leg up over his hip, Bass thrust up inside her, causing Charlie to cry out as she arched her
back, offering up her breasts to his mouth. Bass swirled his tongue around her pink, pebbled nipples
before tugging gently at them with his teeth. Shifting, he settled more squarely between her thighs,

Massive Resistance Policy Summary
This primary source analysis will define the historic and civic perspectives of Virginian citizens that
supported desegregation and the Massive Resistance policies of Governor Almond during the 1950s.
The Massive Resistance policy was created by Senator Byrd and Governor Almond to prevent the
segregation of white and black public schools. Brown. V. Board of Education provided a federal
mandate to desegregate black and white schools, which would unify them into a single public school
system. In these documents, John G. Bowman (1959) argues for a historical change in the
desegregation of the school systems, which would remain loyal to great leadership of the Founding
Fathers. In contrast to this, Joyce Walther s (1958) letter defines the ... Show more content on

Bowman , a concerned citizen writes to Governor Almond suggesting that the Virginian government
has racially devolved since the time of the Founding Fathers, since they wanted to end slavery and
racism under the Constitution. The letter initially apologizes for previous insults to the Governor,
which provides a more personalized approach to a government official: I must apologize for the letter
I wrote you...it was needlessly harsh and insulting. Bowman (1959) is defining the racist views of the
governor as a barrier to racial inequality in the mode of the Founding Father and by preserving the
Constitution: The issue isn t to find a path which can technically evade the Constitution...Segregation,
racial or class, is outmoded. In this argument, Bowman (1959) defines the radical devolution of civil
rights and liberties, which the Founding Fathers would have desired, yet Virginia has fallen into poor
leadership under Governor Almond: If we cannot find that leadership [of the Founding Fathers] in
Virginia, we will have to yield to the federal government. This letter defines a personalized primary

which goes contrary to the will of the Founding Fathers in terms of desegregation of the public

Driving While Driving And Driving
Driving and Distraction In an age dominated by technology, an individual s cell phone is a very
important device for the function of day to day tasks. Whether driving to the grocery store, driving to
work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least once while
operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell phone is
deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving. This legislation
is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral factors associated
with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself. Past research measured
individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this questions validity. These
individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to more risky behavior on the
road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research attempted to measure distraction
with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and mental tasks, all which are not of a
typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve
these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell phone by conversation interferes with
driving and the underlying factors for the interference. This research is of utmost importance because
individuals could not only be putting their self at risk when using a cellphone while

In Paulo Coehlo s The Alchemist, the alchemist is asked, Why are you an alchemist? His response is
simply, I m an alchemist because I m an alchemist. It is as straightforward as that. I am a theatre artist.
There is not a cute story about how I saw a show when I was younger and was inspired; it is simply
who I am to the core of my being. I am fortunate that my time in theatre has brought me to places like
Cincinnati Music Hall s stage, the mainstage at Playhouse in the Park, the Guignol Theatre at the

Symbolism Used in James Joyce s Dubliners

26 February 2011
Symbolism
Symbolism is a powerful tool used by people every day to force people to look past the obvious and
find the deeper meaning. Symbolism is used by authors, musicians, priests, and many others. James
Joyce, a well known Irish author, uses symbolism repeatedly throughout his collection of short stories
published in 1916. In these stories, titled Dubliners, Joyce uses symbolism not only to enhance the
stories, but to also show the hidden, underlying message of each story without coming out and saying
it directly. Joyce s stories are centered on the problems of Dublin and through his use of symbolism
Joyce is able to focus attention on what problem each story is addressing. James ... Show more content

From the opening sentence Joyce gives his readers and idea of what to expect from his stories.
Examining the term gives a deeper meaning that enhances the story. At the boy s home, The wild
garden behind the house contained a central apple tree and a...rusty bicycle pump (21). The apple tree
symbolizes Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, self deception followed by self knowledge. The
bicycle pump symbolizes the kid s pumped up, full of hot air, fascination with the girl and then being
deflated. The apple tree and bicycle pump are clues to the outcome of the story. The boy also
discovers three important and symbolic books in his house. The Abbot is about the worship of a
special lady, The Devout Communicant is about worship and The Memoirs of Vidocq is a detective
story that usually ends with the truth being revealed. All three stories are hinting at what will happen
to the boy at the end of the story. The boy goes to Araby, a market of goods from all over the world, to
buy the girl a gift in order to prove his love to her, but when he finally gets there the market s closing
in ten minutes. The boy heard a voice call from one end of the gallery that the light was out (27).
Joyce frequently uses light to symbolize an epiphany or realization. In this case, the boy realizes the
girl does not really have feelings for him as he had convinced himself to believe. The light provides
the reader with the moment the boy

Duties and Responsibilities of a Business Manager
Introduction
The duties and responsibilities of today s business manager cover both internal supervision and
appropriate response to the external business environment (Frenz 2012). When internal change is
called for, he must manage that change. External response is elicited by trends and innovations in the
outside business world. When internal controls and resources merge or respond to external trends and
opportunities, strategic management is set in operation. The manager constructs plans accordingly and
guides the entire organization through the needed strategic changes. These changes in company
strategy must be infused or reflected in its mission statement, the traditional SWOTT analysis and
strategic choices. The mission statement expresses the core culture and direction of the company. The
SWOTT analysis embodies the company s internal and external capabilities in meeting and
responding to internal and external stimuli and charting its direction as well as its future. And strategic
choices are the important decisions made by its top management executives. These incur substantial
company resources and exact long term consequences, which are difficult to change in case of poor
outcomes. Strategic management enables him and other managers to plan ahead and make high quality
strategic choices for eventual or unforeseen unique or risky future situations. But strategic
management can also fail or disappoint if the plan miscarries or does not turn out as planned (Frenz).

Sectionalism in the early-mid 1800s.
A sense of unity filled the United States of America after they gained independence by winning the
Revolutionary War. This sense of unity, however, did not last forever. Rather than having disputes with
Britain, the United States began to have disputes among its three sections the north, south, and west.
Starting with the War of 1812, sectionalism began as a small rift but grew into a huge gap that
separated the north, south, and west.
The end of the controversial War of 1812 did not end sectionalism. In fact, the War in general
essentially served as an ignition to the division of the sections. Even further dividing the sections, the
Protective Tariff of 1814 put a 25% tax on all imported goods. This means that a roll of cloth from ...

reflect gender bias. The bias concerns derived from the conceptualization of personality disorders, the
wording of diagnostic criteria, the application of diagnostic criteria, thresholds for diagnosis, clinical
presentation, researching sampling, the self awareness and openness of patients and the items included
within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009, p. 356). Studies have failed to prove that there is
significant gender bias in the DSM. However, research has showed there is gender bias within clinical
judgments. For example, gender related items would be included within self report inventories
(Butcher, 2009). Clinicians tend to judge female patients as being mentally ill more readily than male
patients, even when the symptoms are the same. Moreover, women are more likely to be cast as overly
emotional, have a need for mood altering medication and require ongoing monitoring/treatment (Zur
and Nordmarken, 2010).
Sexual orientation has also caused considerable bias. Homosexuality was listed in the DSM as a
mental disorder up until 1974. Even law had identified homosexual behavior as criminal; for instance,
sodomy laws. Although homosexuality is no longer listed in the DSM, therapists still have the option
of considering homosexual behavior as a sexual disorder not otherwise specified. The ability to still
classify homosexuality as a

I Believe Poverty Is Caused By The Division Of Social Class.
I believe poverty is caused by the division of social class. It s as though we put a wall between the rich
and the poor, instead of treating people as humans. I feel poverty is being studied as an object. Take a
look at how the U.S. government draws a poverty line. They base it off a food budget calculation to
determine if someone is poor or not. There are so many other things that are to consider, someone with
physical or mental health problems that go untreated. The expense of doctors and medications is
impossible to manage without insurance. That in return leaves many unable to start school, complete

Abstract
Corporation tax rate can be tricky to compare across different business entities. Selecting the right
type of corporation for small business can helps operational success. There are different types of
business structures include limited liability companies (LLC), partnerships, S corporations, C
corporations and sole proprietorships. My research paper will focus on the difference of corporate tax

Other business structures are double taxed at the business and personal income level. And some
businesses are run by multiple owners, so personal liability is divided. Here are the general
descriptions and advantages/disadvantages of each business.
One of most common choice of business entity is Limited Liability Company. There is no limited on
the numbers of shareholders. Owners of an LLC are called members. Most states do not restrict
ownership, and so members may include individuals, corporations, other LLCs and foreign entities.
There is no maximum number of members. Most states also permit single member LLCs, those having
only one owner. (Limited Liability Company (LLC). (n.d.).
Limited liability company also has limited liability protection. A limited liability partnership (LLP) is
a partnership in which some or all partners (depending on the jurisdiction) have limited liabilities. (

Contributions Of Thomas Hobbes
Thomas Hobbes was an English philosopher, scientist, and historian
Hobbes contributed to modern psychology and laid the foundations of modern sociology by
attempting to explain human motivation and social organization with his principle of Mechanism
Mechanism is the view that everything can be explained in terms of the causal relations of material
objects
Basically, Hobbes believed that there is an internal physical process that occurs before any human
action can take place, though he was not sure if that internal process took place in the brain or the
muscles
John Locke was an English philosopher and political theorist
In his Essay Concerning Human Understanding, he described the self as a blank page only after one
has accumulated experience is the page filled with knowledge and identity (a concept known as tabula
rasa)
Locke believed that knowledge was neither innate nor acquired, but rather the accumulation of facts
derived from sensory experience
These ideas formed the basis of modern behaviorism theories
George Berkeley was one of the most famous British Empiricists and is considered the Father of
Modern Idealism
His biggest contributions to modern psychology were the concepts of idealism and immaterialism
Idealism is the belief that everything that exists either is a mind, or depends on a mind for its existence
in other words, we perceive only ideas
Berkeley also defended the concept of immaterialism, or, the claim that matter does not exist

AAnalysis On Probabilistic Risk
. Risk AnalysisEquation Chapter 5 Section 1 Probabilistic risk analysis is becoming more and more
important in long term damage estimation for structure. In 2010, American Society of Civil
Engineering (ASCE) defines Risk Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake ground motion maps
for the United States by explicitly targeting a probabilistic 1% risk of collapse in 50 years. Risk
analysis is used to combine with earthquake caused death, downtime and repair cost to estimate
seismic performance of bridges and other structures. For instance, according to [Bazzurro et al,2006],
post main shock risk is used to make a decision of repairing a building by calculating the probability
that aftershock ground motion (demand) will exceed the structural capacity. The goal of this chapter is
introducing a method to compute the probabilistic seismic risk for both main shock and aftershock.
Then we can use this to assess risk of specific structure in practice. The core of probabilistic seismic
risk analysis includes two parts: couples (1) ground motion hazard analysis for the site of interest; (2)
the fragility analysis of the structure (located on that site) with respect to potential ground motion
intensities. These two parts have been introduced in last few chapters, so the next step is to combine
all information about demand and capacity of the structure to compute the final risk results. 5.1. Main

The Three Sports Throughout History
There are three sports that truly impacted the world from the beginning of time till now. Many people

Most modern versions of football are believed to have originated from England in the twelfth century.

The Vampire Is Not A New Manifestation Of The Fears Of A...
The vampire is not by any means a new manifestation of the fears of a society. Their presence in
human culture can be traced back for centuries in human folklore. The first Anglicized representations
of the creature in literature date back to the English poetry of the early 1700s, and were then followed
in the fiction genre by such works as John William Polidori s The Vampyre, Sheridan Le Fanu s
Carmilla, and of course, Bram Stoker s Dracula. For the audiences of the 18th century, vampires
embodied many of the following common fears shared between the people: of illness, both mental and
epidemic, of an embraced sexuality, particularly that of women s and homosexuals , and of foreigners.
As the archetypical vampire evolved throughout the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Butler s vampires do not embody the fears and anxieties of the society they infiltrate; rather, Butler
shifts the monstrosity from the vampiric figure to the social ills those figures face. The reader is not
inspired to reject the vampire as villain but rather to demonize the systematic oppression which, in the
case of Fledgling, the protagonist struggles against. The vampire then, in Butler s work, has evolved
beyond its current literary form. Science is as integral as myth in the text, and Shori, Butler s dark
skinned, female, sanguinarian protagonist is not only a progressive creature of legend but a
manufactured being blending the technology of the human body with that of the Ina. Shori cannot
simply be categorized alongside many other vampires because of this distinction she stands above and
beyond, blending race and transcending concepts of creation and origin in order to forge a new
identity for the vampire in literature. She truly stands as a stepping point toward the elusive cyborg a
new biological citizenship being crafted by her very existence in Butler s universe, and what else is
the cyborg but an attempt at that very determination of self? Before addressing the cyborg, the concept
of the other and its place in Butler s novel must be addressed as the bridge between the two theories.
Friedrich Wilhelm Hegel was one of the first philosophers to define the concept of otherness and the

a. Which presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the
postsynaptic cell?
Excitatory presynaptic cell must have action potentials to produce one or more action potentials in the
postsynaptic cell because they promote depolarization of membrane which is needed to cause an
action potential. On the other hand Inhibitory presynaptic cell promote hyperpolarization which goes
against producing an action potential.
b. What phenomena must take place for the small postsynaptic potentials to reach threshold and
produce action potentials?
Summation of Excitatory postsynaptic potential and Inhibitory postsynaptic potential must take place.
More specifically spatial summation, which means that all the types of potential must add up to be
greater (less negative) than the threshold potential of 55mv for an action potential to occur in the
postsynaptic neuron.
c. If the frequency of action potentials in this presynaptic cell (#10a) increases, what happens to the
number of action potentials in the postsynaptic cell?
If the frequency of action potentials in the excitatory presynaptic cell increases than the number of
action potentials in the postsynaptic cell will increase as well. This is due to temporal summation of
EPSP at very frequent times. This causes the postsynaptic cell to produce many action potential in
succession.

George Whitefield Religion And Slavery
Many atrocious things were in motion during the 1700s in the New World. The English colonies of the
New World had an economy based on African slaves. English colonies had the biggest influx of
Africans. Not only were Africans effected by slavery, but so were many of the English settlers
themselves. Religion conflicted with the practice of slavery, which caused the colonists to in a sense
awaken and form new explicit opinions about religion. This caused previous conveyers of religion to
judge the new ways colonists were thinking about and acting out religion. This awakening in religion
was preached by many preachers. At the forefront of the movement was one such preacher known as

desirous of having your children taught? Think you, they are any way better by nature than the poor

men are: both, if born and bred up here, I am persuaded are naturally capable of the same
improvement. (Whitefield, 4) In this quote Whitefield questions that if Christianity has such a bad
influence on the slaves, then why are colonists so eager to teach it to their offspring. George
Whitefield states that blacks are no more born into sin then white men. He believes that both races sin

Green Mountain Coffee Roasters is efficient in utilizing its assets to generate sales as shown by the

I would consider investing in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. This is because based on the ratio
analysis the firm is not insolvent since it can meet its debts obligations as they fall due. Also the trend
in the financial statements indicate a general increase in the value of assets hence a favorable
investment. Also the working capital has increased over the three years. The current assets have
continued to be more than the current liabilities over the three years. Therefore the increase in working
capital reflects that the firm has improved its ability to pay its current liabilities over the three years

Childhood Malnutrition Research Paper
Childhood Malnutrition Jonathan Sacks stated Close to a billion people one eighth of the world s
population still live in hunger. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is
happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too
much while others starve. Severe acute malnutrition affects approximately 13 million children under
the age of 5 and is associated with 1 2 million preventable child deaths each year (Collins, S. 2007).
This growing global problem needs to be brought to attention due to the fact that each year many
children become decease from not getting the proper medical attention they are in need of. Child
malnutrition is also considered a part of child abuse by neglect, which is illegal in the United States of
America. Child abuse by neglect is difficult to diagnose when it is not associated with physical
violence but, neglect is in fact involved with food restriction (Piercecchi Marti, M., Louis Borrione,
C., Bartoli, C., Sanvoisin, A., Panuel, M., Pelissier Alicot, A., Leonetti, G. 2006). By definition,
malnutrition is the lack of proper nutrition, caused by not having enough to eat, not eating enough of

Individualism And Society In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Society in a Different World
Have you ever thought of living in a place where everyone is the same and no one is different? Boring,
right. In the book Anthem, Ayn Rand fully expresses her thoughts about the role of individualism and
society. Anthem is a dystopian novella, written in 1937 and published in England in 1938. The book is
about a society, in which there is no I and only we is allowed. The dictatorship of Anthem tries to keep
the members of society brainwashed by focusing on the importance of obedience and equality which
justifies restricting people from pursuing individual freedom and limiting their knowledge and
vocabulary. Anthem is a critique of the political movements of Fascism and Communism in Europe

You shall do that which the Council of Vocations shall prescribe for you. (Rand 22). In the book, Rand
describes how the Council keeps its subjects manipulated, maintaining obedience through their strict
teaching. The main character Equality 7 2521 demonstrates how people are not allowed to follow their
own path and are victims of a repressive system, which rewards complacency and discourages
freethinking. In this society everyone must be just like everyone else. According to Equality 7 2521,
individuals have no identity of their own. In this society no one is allowed to choose what they do
with their lives, or even to think about what they want to do in the future. The Council of Vocations
punishes Equality 7 2521 for being different, which means being intelligent and loving science.
Instead of being made a scholar, which is what he really wants, Equality 7 2521 is made a street
sweeper. The irony is that Equality 7 2521 would better serve society as a scholar because of his great
intellectual gifts, but that would make individuals capable of distinguishing and separating themselves
from the Council. In another instance, Rand emphasizes the idea of control over knowledge and
vocabulary since We are one in all and all in one. There are no men but only the great WE, One,
indivisible and forever (Rand 19). All names are

common. However, when you look deeper you will see that in fact, they are all different types of
logical fallacies. Logical fallacies are errors of reasoning, errors that may be recognized and corrected
by prudent thinkers (Downes, 1995). The following quote helps explain why logic is important to us

Small samples will tend to be unrepresentative. The general idea is that small samples are less likely
to contain numbers proportional to the whole population.
Since Hasty Generalization is committed when the sample is too small, it is important to have samples
that are large enough when making a generalization. The most reliable way to do this is to take as
large a sample as is practical. If the population in question were not very diverse then a very small
sample would suffice. If the population were very diverse then a fairly large sample would be needed.
The size of the sample also depends on the size of the population. A Hasty Generalization, like any
fallacy, might have a true conclusion. However, as long as the reasoning is fallacious there is no
reason to accept the conclusion based on that People often commit Hasty Generalizations because of
bias or prejudice. People also commonly commit Hasty Generalizations because of laziness or
sloppiness. It is very easy to simply leap to a conclusion and much harder to gather an adequate
sample and draw a justified conclusion. Therefore, avoiding this fallacy requires minimizing the
influence of bias and taking care to select a sample that is large enough.
A great example of this fallacy that everyone has probably experienced is when a teenager is talking to
their parent and says, But why can t

Between EHR benefits and its disadvantages, it has been very difficult for decision makers to make a
decision regarding such systems. An evaluation is needed in order for decision makers to pick a side;
whether they support EHR implementation or not. Evaluation is decisive assessment of defined
objectives, based on set of criteria to solve a given problem. Evaluation mainly serves three purposes:
to compare results with the goals and excepted effects of the system, to direct work towards the
expected result with the help of formative evaluation during development and introduction of the
system, to use the finding and outcomes of the evaluation process as an experience base for future
projects(Ammenwerth, Gräber, Herrmann, Bürkle, König, 2003).Whereas, some define evaluation as
the systematic process of information collection about program activities and features to judge and
enhance its effectiveness. Evaluation leads to the settled opinion that something about the program is
the case, which may lead to a decision to act in a certain way(Institute, 2007). The process Evaluation

He was one of the most significant scientists to change how we view this world. Life, as we know it,

Many historic wars were fought for a god. So I believe it is safe to say that religion was the most

An example of an analogous structure would be the wings on butterflies, bats, and birds. The human
appendix is another example. It is no longer used in the human body but it is still there. However this
is because we evolved so much that we no longer need to use an appendix to survive. Another
important example would be the development of an eye in both mollusks and vertebrates. This
example of analogous structures is especially useful because one of most common claims made by
religious creationists is that something as complex as an eye couldn t possibly have evolved naturally
they insist that the only possible explanation is a supernatural designer (which is always their god).
However if you see the eye of a hawk and the eye of a human they greatly differ. This shows that the
eye of the hawk has evolved more due to its environment and its hunting characteristics. On the other
hand, the human eye is rarely used to find something a small as a rat from a thousand feet away. The
fact that the eye in different species are analogous structures proves that the eye could evolve
naturally, but also that it in fact evolved several times, independently, and in different ways every
time. The same is true of other analogous structures as well, and this is because certain functions (like
being able to see) are just so useful that it s certain they will evolve eventually. No supernatural

In a society with a low power distance members feel entitled to power. With low power distance
society is more democratic and hierarchal. Whereas with high power distance, power is not shared
things are very unequal. The people with power make all of the rules. Examples of a large power
system is Korea, and example of a small power system is Norway. Understanding power distance is
essential to successful cross cultural communication. power distance denotes the degree to which less
powerful members of a society take inequality for granted. Hofstede explains that though inequality
exists in all societies, the level of tolerance to it, changes from one to culture to another. (Toprak,
Genc Kumtepe) Power distance looks at how members of society who have little or no power respond
to the distribution of power. A person who comes from a society with low power distance would be
very confused if they attended a meeting in Korea a culture with a high power distance. For example,
in a high power distance society a manager may look down on his employee, the employee will
understand that his manager holds all of the power and he goes to him for direction. In a low power

Block Nested Loop Join
1. Abstract:
The project deals with the Block Nested loop Join operation on given relations. In the project, we used
Adventure Works database to demonstrate the results. We observed the execution of the block nested
loop Join. The project also takes into account the technical details of each relations, for example, what
is the tuple size of the relation, what are the total number of blocks allocated for each relation, what
are the number of tuples per block and so on. The algorithm for the Join are detailed and explored.
Also for the algorithm, the best, the worst case is being elaborated. Further, even the available
memory size, allocated memory size, are taken into account while retrieving the tuples from the
relations. The number of Block transfers, and number of I/O seeks required for each relation are
calculated. Finally, these time of each relation in the algorithm are compared to determine the role of
tuples in Block Nested loop join.
2. Implementation:
For the implementation purpose, Adventure Works is used as the database and Java is used for

Conforming To Society s Expectations In Billy Elliot
Billy Elliot Film Assessment
Billy Elliot shows us that it is important to remain true to yourself and to not conform to society s
expectation.
Settings How do they reinforce the main messages of the film?
Steven Daldry picks the settings in his movie carefully, in order to emphasize and reinforce the
importance of remaining true to yourself, and to remind us as an audience that it isn t always about
conforming to what society wants. Steven Daldry does this through the repeated metaphor of a cage in
his settings. The boxing hall represents tradition and society s expectations of Billy, You re a disgrace
to them gloves and to the traditions of this boxing hall. Steven Daldry contrasts the worlds that Jackie
and Billy belong to, by placing them on the different sides of the wire doors of the boxing hall,
emphasizing the differences of their worlds through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is done further in the movie in Everington. The miner s huts in Everington represent conformity
and the grey dull colours of the miner show the bleak and uncertain future of Billy in this town. There
is sense of confinement in the town streets and the lack of any other streets aside the main street
symbolise that all the children in Everington are expected to travel on the path to become Miners. The
walls are closing in on Billy and they represent the obstacle he will have to overcome. Steven Daldry
also provides stark contrasts in order to convey the message of the film, his use of Juxter positioning
allows the audience to recognise the extent of Billy s passion of ballet and how unusual it was for a
boy to do ballet in Billy s community. The use of Juxter positioning allows the audience to see the full
extent of the impact that the character s environment had

The Lakota Way Essay
The most important values in The Lakota Way are love, sacrifice, and wisdom. These words mean a
lot to life because everybody has to feel compassion and strong emotion. Giving up your time for
extra help and assistance makes your mindset. Being wise and intelligent gets you through life. These
values make up the aura that surrounds yours truly. The Lakota people practice an abundance of
values, but these seemed worth explaining. Love is a variety of different emotional and mental states,
typically strongly and positively experienced, that ranges from deepest interpersonal affection to
simple pleasure. This value is precious amongst all humans, it is what makes or breaks us. Not only
does love remind us of a time that was relevant or memorable, ... Show more content on

Like all teachers and counselors, you have to be wise about what you teach and say. Being a wise
person is like being a superhero. People will come to you for advice and knowledge. This word is the
most important because being wise is one of the best values anybody can learn. You need knowledge
and wisdom to guide you through life. The feeling of people coming to you for help and taking what
you have to say into consideration is the best feeling anyone can achieve. Not only are you smart, but
you also have great intelligence. Acquiring this and having a growth mindset, makes you explore and
see the world and mind in a whole different perspective. Being a holy man in the Lakota is a man who
speaks the truth. Gives good decisions and is a man everyone sought after for advice. Having great
knowledge for life and others was a great way to tell how a mind was like. Being a person of wisdom
was a person of honesty and strength through words. From knowing when and what to say, but also
from knowing what and when not to speak. Wisdom is the antidote for impatience. Lakota people
were strong and always seeked advice when was not sure. All in all, we can all be wise and smart, we
can look, see, and hear better with patience and

Stricter Laws Essay Every year passenger vehicles contribute a large portion of the carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides in our air, although there are laws and regulations set to help reduce these pollutants I believe stricter laws and regulations should be enacted to further reduce green house gas emissions produced by vehicles in order to protect our environment and slow the process of global warming. Some of the strictest regulations in relevance to green house gas emissions (GHG) in the United States are found in California. This is because California is the second highest GHG emitting state in the nation behind Texas, however California has 30 percent more citizens and 40 percent lower land mass than Texas making California significantly denser ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... DMV.org lists the process in which emissions are regulated in these areas. State to state the emissions testing procedures are generally conducted identically. A tailpipe emissions test is performed on vehicles with a 1995 or older model year. This involves inserting a probe into the tailpipe to measure the amount of pollutants in the car s emissions. Vehicles with a 1996 or newer model year will have an emissions test through an On Board Diagnostic (OBD) system. This style of smog check involves a data exchange between the car s computer and the technician s computer and shows if emissions systems are working correctly. The pollutants that are being measured in both tests are: carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons (HC), oxygen (O2), and oxides of nitrogen (NOx). Some may argue that the emissions regulations that are in place are good enough. However when we compare Californias strict emissions regulations to other states we quickly find flaws in the other states systems. For example in Connecticut only a Catalytic converter (a piece of a vehicles exhaust system) is required in order to pass emissions. No other testing is conducted other than a slight glance at the under side of the car to see if indeed the Catalytic converter is there. Though a catalytic converters function on a ... Whether driving to the grocery store, driving to work, or driving to a friends house, chances are you have used your cell phone at least once while operating a vehicle, but is this dangerous? Simultaneously driving and the use of a cell phone is deemed illegal in many states under the presumption that it is a distraction to driving. This legislation is usually preconceived under the notion that the distraction comes from peripheral factors associated with the use of a cell phone and not the conversation on the cell phone itself. Past research measured individuals who were using a cell phone prior to an accident, but this questions validity. These individuals whom used a cell phone before an accident could be prone to more risky behavior on the road and not due to the use of the cell phone itself. Other research attempted to measure distraction with phone conversations, but relied on arithmetic, reasoning, and mental tasks, all which are not of a typical phone conversation. Research conducted in 2001 by Strayer and Johnston aimed to resolve these issues by measuring the extent in which the use of cell phone by conversation interferes with driving and the underlying factors for the interference. When internal controls and resources merge or respond to external trends and opportunities, strategic management is set in operation. The bias concerns derived from the conceptualization of personality disorders, the wording of diagnostic criteria, the application of diagnostic criteria, thresholds for diagnosis, clinical presentation, researching sampling, the self awareness and openness of patients and the items included within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009, p. 356). Studies have failed to prove that there is significant gender bias in the DSM. However, research has showed there is gender bias within clinical judgments. For example, gender related items would be included within self report inventories (Butcher, 2009). Clinicians tend to judge female patients as being mentally ill more readily than male patients, even when the symptoms are the same. Moreover, women are more likely to be cast as overly emotional, have a need for mood altering medication and require ongoing monitoring/treatment (Zur and Nordmarken, 2010). In 2010, American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) defines Risk Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake ground motion maps for the United States by explicitly targeting a probabilistic 1% risk of collapse in 50 years. Risk analysis is used to combine with earthquake caused death, downtime and repair cost to estimate seismic performance of bridges and other structures. For instance, according to [Bazzurro et al,2006], post main shock risk is used to make a decision of repairing a building by calculating the probability that aftershock ground motion (demand) will exceed the structural capacity. The goal of this chapter is introducing a method to compute the probabilistic seismic risk for both main shock and aftershock. Then we can use this to assess risk of specific structure in practice. The core of probabilistic seismic risk analysis includes two parts: couples (1) ground motion hazard analysis for the site of interest; (2) the fragility analysis of the structure (located on that site) with respect to potential ground motion intensities. These two parts have been introduced in last few chapters, so the next step is to combine all information about demand and capacity of the structure to compute the final risk results. 5.1. Their presence in human culture can be traced back for centuries in human folklore. The first Anglicized representations of the creature in literature date back to the English poetry of the early 1700s, and were then followed in the fiction genre by such works as John William Polidori s The Vampyre, Sheridan Le Fanu s Carmilla, and of course, Bram Stoker s Dracula. The reader is not inspired to reject the vampire as villain but rather to demonize the systematic oppression which, in the case of Fledgling, the protagonist struggles against. The vampire then, in Butler s work, has evolved beyond its current literary form. Science is as integral as myth in the text, and Shori, Butler s dark skinned, female, sanguinarian protagonist is not only a progressive creature of legend but a manufactured being blending the technology of the human body with that of the Ina. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too much while others starve. Severe acute malnutrition affects approximately 13 million children under the age of 5 and is associated with 1 2 million preventable child deaths each year (Collins, S. 2007). This growing global problem needs to be brought to attention due to the fact that each year many children become decease from not getting the proper medical attention they are in need of. In this society everyone must be just like everyone else. According to Equality 7 2521, individuals have no identity of their own. Since Hasty Generalization is committed when the sample is too small, it is important to have samples that are large enough when making a generalization. The most reliable way to do this is to take as large a sample as is practical. If the population in question were not very diverse then a very small sample would suffice. If the population were very diverse then a fairly large sample would be needed. The size of the sample also depends on the size of the population. A Hasty Generalization, like any fallacy, might have a true conclusion. Another important example would be the development of an eye in both mollusks and vertebrates. This example of analogous structures is especially useful because one of most common claims made by religious creationists is that something as complex as an eye couldn t possibly have evolved naturally they insist that the only possible explanation is a supernatural designer (which is always their god).
