PDU Myths

Myth: I need to maintain 90 PDUs if I have
PMP and PMI-RMP credentials
A: No, you can earn PDUs toward
maintaining PMI credentials
simultaneously.
If you have PMP and PMI-RMP, find the
event that provides PDUs to both
credentials.


PDU Myths

Myth: I can only attend courses by
R.E.P.s to obtain PDUs.
A: Courses offered by R.E.P.s are recognized
by PMI, and can provide you PDUs.
You can also earn PDUs by attending non-
R.E.P. courses. But, if you are audited, you
need to justify the number of hours for PDU in
the case of non-R.E.P. courses.



PDU Myths

Myth: The course providers told me I can
earn xx PDUs, I can take that and submit
PDUs based on 1 hour = I PDU.
A: If the course provider is non-R.E.P., it is the
responsibility of the PMP to gauge whether a
course is relevant to the knowledge or process
areas as listed within the PMBOK Guide.
The determination of relevance is to be made by
the PMP.


PDU Myths

Myth: If I have more than 60 PDUs in my
current CCR cycle, I can carry forward the
extra (in excess of 60 PDUs) to next CCR cycle.
A: This is correct… but you can only roll-
over max 20 PDUs to the next CCR cycle,
and these PDUs must be earned in the 3rd
year of current cycle.



PDU Myths

Myth: I must retake PMP exam if I do not
obtain 60 PDUs at the end of last CCR
cycle.
A: If your PMP has lapsed for more than 1
year, yes you need to retake the exam
again. But if you failed to recertify and still
within a year of the expiry upon , your
PMP status will be in suspension.
