Injuries And Injuries Of Acl Injuries
In this paper I will be researching ACL injuries in sports. Along with what causes these injuries to
happen, how they can be prevent and if the footwear we use as athletes can make these injuries more
or less likely to happen to us. I will also be looking closely into the reoccurring ACL injury in which
Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls has been suffering from for the past few years.
An ACL is the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) which is a ligament in the knee and is an essential
internal stabilizer of the knee joint and helps in restraining hyperextension. It is injured when it s when
the biomechanics of this ligaments limits are exceeded or over stretched, often with a hyperextended
mechanic. It was thought that this occurred in sports where there was a lot of contact and when other
structures were often involved. In the present day, the ACL injury seems to be more of a contactless
injury such as; a dismount from a layup in basketball. Both forms of the injury occur more frequently
in athletes than in the general population. They are also more established in alpine skiing, Association
football, American football, Australian Rules football, basketball, rugby, professional wrestling,
martial arts, and artistic gymnastics. It is also three times more likely to happen in males then it is in
male athletes. The consequences of the injury are down to how much of the knee stability is affected
and if injuries to other structures are badly damaged. This all varies from each and

Race-Based Jury Nullification
Race based Jury Nullification
Cultural Diversity in Criminal Justice
Race based Jury Nullification
Racial differences within the court system of the United States can create various interpretations of
laws and the impartiality of such laws. Minorities within this country may believe that the criminal
justice system has prejudices and may dismiss the legality of certain laws. Jury nullification is a
process in which members of the jury exonerate a person of a guilty verdict although the evidence
presented in the case overwhelmingly proves the person s guilt. People within the jury may believe the
laws are not fair, do not apply to the particular case, or they may empathize with the defendant
(McNamara amp; Burns, 2009).

The United States of America v. Marion S. Barry, Jr. After months of denying rumors and accusations
of his drug use, former mayor of Washington, DC, Marion S. Barry, Jr., was caught engaging in illegal
drug activity in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sting operation. The veteran mayor s crime
was caught on video tape by federal agents. On the night of January 18, 1990, FBI agents arrested
Barry and brought him before a federal magistrate on misdemeanor drug charges of buying and selling
crack cocaine. Barry s ex girlfriend, former model Rasheeda Moore was a cooperating government
witness in the FBI undercover operation. Moore allegedly lured the mayor to a hotel rendezvous for
romance and drugs. Prior to Barry and Moore s engagement, the FBI installed a hidden camera in the
Washington, DC, hotel room. The camera provided United States attorneys and FBI agents with a real
time video feed of the events taking place in the hotel room (CBS Interactive, 1990). United States
Attorneys and FBI agents watched as the mayor gave Moore money to purchase cocaine.
Unbeknownst to Barry, Moore left the hotel room and purchased crack cocaine from an undercover
FBI agent standing by at the scene. Upon Moore s return, Marion Barry inhaled the crack cocaine
using a smoking apparatus. Immediately after this, FBI agents burst into the hotel room to make the
arrest. A United States attorney holds that the set up was

Animal Abuse Database Administration System
.According to the AARDAS (Animal Abuse Database Administration System) the four major causes
of animal s deaths include neglect, shooting, hoarding and fighting, followed by torture and mutation.
(Evans 1) The abuse of animals is just one of the main rights that as humans we infiltrate. The
ignorance of humans choosing to ignore the rights of innocent animals is drastically affecting our
society. The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has
no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal
compassion is the only guarantee of morality. (Author Schopenhauer). Animals have rights, and our
society continues to overlook those rights by using them in research, factory farming, and holding
them in captivity, and these issues must be addressed with all seriousness for the sake of the animals
and our society.
The history of animal rights dates back to 1824 when a small group from England formed the society
for prevention of cruelty to the animals. (Owen 20) This group was formed in response to animals
being forced to participate in bull baiting where dogs fought a tether ball. This act of entertainment
ended with the tether ball winning while the dog was defeated and injured. The group managed to get
the first couple laws passed forbidding cruel treatment such as bull baiting to animals. This was a
milestone in animal rights history, and shortly after, the ASPCA (American

Communication Skills And Leadership Skills
A strong interest and need exist in the workplace today to be an effective leader. While some people
assume that being a leader has its own skill assets, it is essential to know that people that withhold
leadership positions in organizations need to have strong effective communication skills that suite
their position. In fact, a recent study of recruiters from companies with over 50,000 employees cited
that communication skills are the most important factor in choosing managers (Beebe and Mottet,
2016, p. 2). Communication skills are leadership skills. After conducting interviews with two leaders
and researching leadership and communication skills, I ve concluded it s necessary for an effective
leader to have 3 key communication skills. To ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

and passion and fuels all those involved. It s a way for leaders to embody the change they want to
pursue and help employees make sense of the organization. As important it is to form a connection
with your employees, it s also important to manage conflict. Relational conflict at work is impossible
to avoid. The ability to manage conflict is one of the most important skills a leader can have because if
the conflict is ignored, it can get in the way of work and make a business less productive. The first
interviewee explained a time where he assigned a task to his employees, and when one of his
employees tried to contribute an idea, he unknowingly ignored the employee. He realized the next
couple of days that the employee would slack off as well as give him the silent treatment. The second
interviewee explained a time where an employee rudely responded to an email. He recognized that the
email was misinterpreted and that he can come off a bit too callous. Both interviewees knowing that
they are leaders and that it s important to stay on good terms with everyone at work, they quickly
decided to manage the conflict. The way both interviewees described their conflict management was
like Stone s 5 Step Process. Stone developed a five step process for conducting a productive

Air Mail Act Of 1934 Essay
The Air Mail Act of 1934 banned the common ownership of manufactures and airlines so; this caused
the United Aircraft and Transport Corporation to spilt into three companies. Manufacturing east of the
Mississippi River became United Aircraft, which is now United Technologies, manufacturing west of
the Mississippi River became Boeing Airplane Company, and the airline interest became known as
United Airlines.
United s early routes were flown east to west from New York City via Chicago and Salt Lake City to
San Francisco as well as north south on the west coast. The routes came from connecting airmail
routes and from these routes came the first two hubs for United, which are Chicago and San Francisco.
These are two hubs that are still the principal hubs for United Airlines today. In 1933, United

crewmembers on board. The aircraft was a Douglas DC 6B and this time the bomber was identified to

June 30, 1956 when a United s DC 7 collided with a TWA Super Constellation over the Grand
Canyon. All 128 on board both flights died and this then was the world s deadliest commercial airline

States Air Force F 100 fighter jet. The crashed landed in unpopulated desert terrain of Las Vegas,
Nevada. The last of the mid air collisions comes on December 6, 1960 when United s DC 8, its first jet
aircraft, hit another TWA Super Constellation over New York City. The crash killed 128 people on
both aircraft and six people on the ground. These accidents led to a sweeping change in air traffic

American Airlines Flight 1572 Crash Analysis
The Accident
On November 12, 1995, an American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD 83 type passenger aircraft,
which was operating as Flight 1572, departed from Chicago O Hare International (ORD); however,
the aircraft got substantially damaged due to impact to the top of oak trees on Peak Mountain Ridge in
East Granby, Connecticut. The aircraft also hit the Instrument Landing System (ILS) localizer antenna,
which was on its way to Runway 15 of Bradley International Airport (BDL). The aircraft, lastly,
crashed while on approach to Runway 15 of BDL at 00:55 Eastern Time. Fortunately, there were no
fatalities and all 73 passengers and crew of 5 survived the impact.
Accident Factors

In addition, a VDP keeps the aircraft at an altitude that will not descend lower than the MDA. The
VDP is useful for and frequently utilized during approaching to an unintended runway, such as the one
at BDL, the VOR Runway 15. However, airmen of the flight 1572 were not utilizing any VDPs during
the flight, did not calculate one either.
Furthermore, the tower issues at the BDL airport might have contributed to the crash too. The last
ATIS report the crew received was at 10:51 PM, which was almost two hours before the accident
occurred. That last ATIS record became obsolete in short notice due to rapidly changing weather
conditions at BDL. Even though extreme conditions were in effect at BDL, the aircrew was not
informed with recent information. Therefore, even though the last ATIS record that was sent to pilots
informed them about extreme weather conditions at BDL, additional ATIS records should have been
released. The reason behind not emitting new ATIS records after the one sent at 10:51 PM was the
timing and personnel congestion issues at the BDL tower. According to the controller that sent the last
ATIS report to the crew, he was waiting for additional recent weather information to appear on the
Systems Atlanta Information Display System (SAIDS); however, until the time he left the tower,
which was around midnight, SAIDS did not show any new weather

There so much said and written about foreign aid that it has become difficult to justify its
effectiveness. But if we look at the overall picture in the eye of citizens of a developing country, an
honest assessment might conclude that progress has been made. Though, profound social disparities
and extreme poverty are still lurking in some parts of this fragile planet.
Foreign aid is the transfer of capital, goods, or services from one country to another. And aid can be
given in numerous forms from humanitarian emergency assistance, to food aid, military assistance,
and so on. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach was designed to undermine the communist government that was corrupt and biased that
favored urban population over rural sections. Their pattern of distribution reflected political ties and
proximity rather than absolute humanitarian need. By avoiding official structures and working with
commanders at the local level, NGOs inevitably accentuated national regional tensions and
legitimized military strongmen. In this manner, foreign aid with the ultimate goal of peace building
with efforts tied to impartialness has turned a page of conflict.
Positive.
Wars, conflicts, and struggles are sites of innovation, leading to the creation of new forms of
legitimacy and protection. (M Duffield, Global Governance and the New Wars: the Merging of
Development and Security, London: Zed Books, 2001.) They are essential for the advancement of
peoples that are affected by it. They are essential in the transformation of infrastructures, institutions
and social structures. And those affected societies will appreciate the availability of such foreign aids
to allow them to rebuild and restructure the remains of their struggles.
Consequently, a second generation strategy materialized as NGOs moved from humanitarian to
rehabilitation and developmental approach with the focus in rural areas. NGOs sought to disengage
from the privileged relationships built with particular commanders during the jihad years. They
experimented with local institutional development approaches through

Middleman Ebay Case
1. I do not intend on changing any of my current website goals, so I will just re list them here. Firstly,
the main goal I would like my website to achieve for my business would be most importantly to
increase the overall percentage of sales that are made from outside of Ebay. Secondly, I would like my
website to serve as a platform to potentially advertise other small businesses such as myself to
increase their traffic. Lastly, the website could be used as an alternative method of buying my
products, essentially cutting out the middleman Ebay, and just having the products listed on the
website would be potentially more profitable.

The Witches Have The Most Power In Macbeth
In Shakespeare s play The Tragedy of Macbeth, the witches held the most power when it came to
influencing others actions. The three repulsive ladies (witches) crossed paths with Macbeth and
manipulated him into believing a prophecy which caused the huge mess of this play. The prophecy
was that Macbeth would be king but so would Duncan s kids.
One reason the witches have the most power is because Macbeth went on this journey of self
destruction making him contemplate committing murder and treason. If it were done when tis done,

Speech For A Introductory Speech On Procrastination
Introductory paragraph:
Hook: (I am sitting there) and I wonder about my homework then I say oh when I am going to be
presenting my speech and then I say oh I ran out of time.
Greeting: Good afternoon, judges, teachers, and fellow classmates
Introduction to topic: Today I will be talking about something horrible we have all done before. Today
I m going to share with you some statistics that I can t believe affect us all. According to the Brandon
Gaille website in the article about 17 lazy procrastination statistics, they said that 85 to 95 percent of
students in North America procrastinate and the number of chronic procrastinators has quadrupled
during the last thirty years?
What is procrastination?
I know some of you are sitting there wondering what procrastination is. Well, procrastination is the
action of putting off tasks that are planned to be done for tasks that are of lesser importance. So if you
think of it, you are actually trying to sabotage your success. There are actually two types of
procrastinators one is the situational procrastinator and the other is a chronic procrastinator. A
situational procrastinator usually procrastinates because of how they feel about a particular task
(usually because we don t like it). Chronic procrastinators procrastinate in almost every situation, and
that is the normal for them. So is procrastination laziness or an illness? Procrastination could be a
physiological illness if the person procrastinates because of

Federal Government Budget Essay
Federal government spending is increasing, deficits are lingering, and the amount of accumulated debt
is reaching dangerously high levels. Growing spending and debt are undermining economic growth
and may push the nation into a severe financial crisis in coming years (Edwards, 2016). How can we
keep our balance and spending under control? Federal spending is becoming more and more of a
problem, and Bill Clinton did not balance our budget. He did provide solutions to balance our budget
but allegations state he was only a bystander in the timely process.
When the government is presented with a problem, their immediate reaction is to make a new program
to fix it. A solution to our budget problems is to downsize each federal department by cutting ... Show

But it s not just up to the President which is why it s so hard to come to an agreement. During the
Clinton era, Clinton proposed to increase Federal spending by 4 percent, to $1.73 trillion, to hire
100,000 new teachers, provide adequate child care, boost scientific research and offer monitored tax
incentives. Effects of a large tax increase that Clinton pushed for in his first year are made prominent.
For the most part, it fell entirely on upper income taxpayers and the wealthy people in our society.
Clintons 1994 budget also contained some spending restraints. The cuts allowed the economy to boom
and there were bigger gains in the stock market business that made people happy (Bennett,1998). The
new budget brought in hundreds of millions in unexpected tax revenue from taxes on capital gains and
rapidly rising salaries (Jackson,2008). Although this was a good plan, it unfortunately did not get
approved. The budget was balanced but some say not by Clinton. He was merely just a bystander and
gave his opinion as the time passed. Even though the budget was balanced while he was in office, but
the record shows that was about the extent of his contribution (Moore, 1998). Clinton may have tried
to contribute but he should not be given all of the credit. Others have credited George Bush. Political
analyst Bill Schneider declared on CNN that Bush is one of the real heroes for his ability to raise taxes

American Imperialism In Australia Essay
The reasons for colonisation by the Spanish in the Americas and the British in Australia had many
similarities. These similar factors included, improving trade routes, expanding their colonies for
wealth and power and obtaining new resources. In addition, both groups wanted to explore beyond
their own country. However, there were also a few big differences. For example, the British used
Australia for the keeping of convicts, due to the overcrowded prisons in their own country. They also
wanted to claim the land, preventing settlement in Australia from other countries, such as the
Netherlands (Dutch). An aim for the Spanish, in the Americas, was to convert more people to

The Indigenous people were thought to be inferior by the colonisers, and as a result, were the victims

James A. Reed offers stocked lakes and ponds that total up to two hundred fifty acres. In 1957 the
Missouri Department of Conservation started the construction of the water holes. There are a total of
twelve lakes which are all fishable. The biggest lake (Catclaw Lake) is just over forty two acres and
located on the outer edge of the Conservation ground. The Department dug the lakes based on the
traffic of wildlife in the area. All are stocked yearly and monitored to keep the fish population even
between the lakes. Every lake has at least largemouth bass, channel catfish, crappie, bluegill, green
sunfish, redear sunfish, and bullheads. Only four of the lakes contain striped bass hybrids. There is
only a limited amount of fish one can keep so fishing is mainly just catch and release. There are three
docks provided for fishing throughout the entire acreage; the rest of the fishing is done off shore, on
the banks, or in a boat. There are two boats that can be rented out for the day and they are offered only

Thirdly, I would make sure that Monica had all the knowledge and resources to communicate with us

experience with technology and she didn t know how to exactly worked her email. Throughout the
project, we would learn that she had a friend that helped her send emails and so on. If I was given a do

strength and weakness were. I realized that it would ve been easier if the tape recorder worked the first
time we did the interview. Either way, the digital story project was an amazing experience for me and
it truly pushed me out of my comfort zone. I learned that everything is a learning process, and that I

Essay On The Role Of Women In Heart Of Darkness
In the Heart of Darkness you see a lot about Africa in the 1900s through an imperialistic view

advanced areas of the worlds have always been fighting for equal rights. When you take a look at that

reality is not like the stories she read when growing up. Her innocence is taken from her when she
realizes that by casting Robbie as a villain in her plot and by forcing him to be a villain in real life has
different outcomes than a story. Briony loses her innocence mentally as she still holds on to the fact
everything is okay as if she rewrites Robbie s and Cecilia s relationship a happy ending versus a tragic

grief that she affected Robbie s and Cecilia s life and torn apart the Tallis family. Briony is learning

The Breakdown Of The Titanic
On Sunday, April 14th, 1912 at 11:40PM the starboard side of the Titanic scraped along an iceberg.
The passengers felt a vibrating jar. Water Began to rush into the 300 foot gash. First Officer, William
Murdoch quickly closed the watertight doors. Captain Smith returned to the bridge and asked Officer
Murdoch, What have we struck? Murdoch confirmed that the Titanic had struck an iceberg. Captain
Smith asked Fourth Officer Boxhall to inspect the forward area of the hull. Officer Boxhall hurried to
inspect the damage and returned to inform them that the Orlop deck was flooded forward of the #4
Watertight bulkhead. Captain Smith asked him to establish the Titanic s position and requested that

The Transformation Of Macbeth s Character
As Innocent flower, (Shakespeare 25) Macbeth begins to change drastically, developing a completely
new identity, his transformation is quite obvious as he goes from innocent to the serpent under [the
flower] (Shakespeare 25). Macbeth has no morality to govern his actions furthermore. The soldier is
caught going against his moral beliefs as he represses all emotions that are caused by his actions in
killing; consequently, the guilt that is accumulated inside of him begins to take over, caused by the
initial push which began his redevelopment. Simply stated, Macbeth s obsession in gaining power
acted as a push causing his psychological state to spiral downhill. Macbeth s mind whose murder yet

The soldier questions his new morals as he decides to not further his plans to kill Duncan but as Lady
Macbeth hears of Macbeth questioning his fate, she steps in pushing his new morals onwards,
enforcing the idea that killing Duncan is fine as they will pin the murder on the king s guards. The
thought of not having courage is lodged into Macbeth s head as he becomes aware that he is Letting I
dare not wait upon I would (Shakespeare 29). Macbeth experiences a turning point as he sets onwards
to kill Duncan but is abruptly stopped as Banquo is unable to fall asleep due to his thoughts of the
prophecies and the weird sisters. Banquo asks Macbeth if he has thought about what the weird sisters
told him about the prophecies lately, but Macbeth lies and says he has not. Hoping Banquo returns to

Monuments And Masculinity In Roland Emmerich s...
Monuments and Masculinity
Roland Emmerich s Independence Day (1996) mirrors the ideology of a sci fi film outlined by Susan
Sontag in the Imagination of Disaster so closely that it borders on a lack of creativity. That is what
qualifies this film as a revival of the sci fi genre following revisionist works like Steven Spielberg s
E.T. the Extra Terrestrial (1982). This film, among other things, believes that femininity in leadership
will lead to disaster on the political stage and that personal relationships should mirror the ideals of
this government balance. This scene uses framing and set design re erect themes of the traditional sci
fi ideology such as the military embodiment of masculinity and the weak femininity of a scientist .
This scene also sets the stage for what Sontag calls the balance of a good war and the yearning for
peace which unfolds throughout the film. The ideology of Independence Day is despairingly
unoriginal, touching on almost all themes outlined by Sontag as what makes the science fiction genre.
Queuing up stage Sontag s third stage of the science fiction film, In the capital of the country,
conferences between scientists and the military take place... ; of course, the difference being these
shots are in Area 51. Intertitles clearly define for the viewer where the jet is heading, doing so it is
reinforcing the authority they have to travel there. This is an ironic move considering the random
assortment of civilians they have on board, and the lack of authority they had not even an hour prior.
The set design and misé en scene are so blatantly full of military machismo as the president is seen
peaking his character metamorphosis between an effeminate man and the strong leader. Slowly, a
beyond oversized commercial airliner prop pulls into the base s set absolutely truncating the figures in
every frame. The minimalist décor on the base exterior of the base contrasts with the extravagance of
the ridiculous jet. The implications of the size of the machine and the machismo of its passengers, or
the size of their genitals, is overbearing. It s one of the many phallic displays of power and
masculinity that can be seen throughout the film, but this one obviously aids as a visual

Persuasive Essay Pro Death Penalty
There are murder victims family members who go through this process thinking they ll feel peace
once the revenge of the death penalty is carried out. What I ve learned from meeting with these people
is that you don t feel better in revenge. You feel better in forgiveness (Steinberg, 2015). Today, there
are 31 states that are for the death penalty, leaving 19 that are against it. There are many reasons to be
for and against the death penalty, but in my opinion, I think that there is a better way to take care of
criminals rather than killing them.
One side of this debate is being for the death penalty. According to Van Den Haag (1983), people fear
death more than life in prison. Having the death penalty will be a consequence that people don t want
to face so it will help decrease future murder. Also, Swift (2014) states that they deserve being put to
death. They knew before they did the crime that the consequence for murder is being put to death. He
also argues that having them put to death will help stop further crime and overcrowding of prisons. ...

The purpose for the death penalty is to help with future crimes, but it seems to have no deterrent
effect. Death Penalty Cost (2015) states that in California, it currently costs $137 million for the death
penalty every year. It would be reduced down to $11.5 million if they took care of this situation
without having to go through all the trials leading up to the execution. Many times it ends up that they
find out that the criminal is innocent, so they wasted a lot of taxpayer s money going through all the
trials, and then they usually have life sentence expenses that taxpayers also have to pay

This Be the Verse
This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme
scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first
published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High
Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the
sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of
the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus 20:5].
Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful God as
the tragic shortcomings of your mum and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons why.
Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is similar to
yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed. Also, words
like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks the audience s
attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and boring verse. Secondly,
words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature people. One term that is used
quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off of the common idea that children
should and would not use such words until they are older and have a more concrete knowledge of
what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as *censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will
most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem would not be read at certain social gatherings
(i.e. church meetings) where such words are considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience
for this poem. That brings me to my third point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether
consciously or not, that they are in a distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This
allows Larkin to establish a closeness with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them.
This also implies to the reader that Larkin is one of them, that he

Buckminsterfullerene Research Paper
Buckminsterfullerene or more commonly known as bucky balls is one of the types of carbon
allotropes. It is a spherical fullerene molecule containing 60 carbon atoms. The shape of a bucky ball
resembles that of a typical soccer ball and the specific name for the structure is truncated icosahedron.
It is formed of twenty hexagons and twelve pentagons with a carbon atom lying at each vertex. The
name buckminsterfullerene was named after the inventor Buckminster fuller, because one of his
designs of a geodesic dome structure was very similar to that of the 60 carbon fullerene. So the
inventors named him after the allotrope. However, Fuller and the general public tend to call them
buckyballs. Theoretical Bucky balls were developed in the 1970 s ... Show more content on

Bucky balls are extremely stable structures, they can withstand high temperatures and high pressures.
The exposed surface of the structure can interact with other molecules while retaining its spherical
geometry. Also, atoms and small molecules can be trapped inside the fullerene without reacting.
Carbon 60 can undergo 6 reversible reductions, but oxidation is irreversible. The first reduction needs
approximately 1.0 V, making it a fairly effective electron acceptor. It avoids having double bonds in
the pentagons, so electron delocalization is poor and results in the molecule not being superaromatic.
Superaromaticity is used to describe an extra stable nature of some aromatic macrocycle compounds.
These structure contains a number of aromatic rings. Carbon 60 behaves very much like an electron
deficient alkene and readily reacts with high electron density species. Fullerenes are sparingly soluble
in aromatic solvents such as toluene and carbon disulfide, but they are insoluble in water. Saturated
solutions of carbon 60 have a deep purple color which leaves a brown residue when it is evaporated.
The relatively narrow energy width of the band of molecular levels responsible for green light
absorption are the cause for this color change by single carbon 60

Vikings Research Paper
The Vikings were an ancient people that inhabited Northern Europe and Scandinavia known as the

the Viking Era, giving them the label as Vikings.
The history of the Norse people goes all the way back to the Stone Age, but they are best known for a
period of time when they raided several parts of Europe known as the Viking Age.
The Viking Age is typically recorded in history as occurring approximately around 793 AD to 1066
AD. This period of time is not the time span of the Norse people themselves, nor was it the peak of
their civilization. This is merely the height of the time when the Norse people were mostly written

The Importance Of A Person Has A Good Work Ethic
In America some jobs are more sought after than others, and to hold these positions without having it
taken away requires experience and a good work ethic. There are many ways to show that a person has
a good work ethic. Some are going to college and graduating with good grades. Others are getting and
holding a job in or after high school or doing internships. However, there can be complications when a
person is trying to show their interviewer that they have a good work ethic. Without a previous job or
internship there is not much information about the individual applying for the job. Thus the employer
might choose another worker. Even if the person without a previous job or internship is a harder
worker with a better work ethic, they cannot show this until they are hired, and that is a risk that
several companies do not take. Impressing potential employers requires the ability to show that one
can receive and hold a previous job, or have been an internship that give the intern with experience in
the work field. One way to make a resume impressive is to have prior work experience. Not only does
this show that a person can hold a position at a place of work, but it also gives the potential employer
a source to contact and receive more information about that individual. Having a prior job can make
you appear to be a better candidate for the prospective job than someone with the same education and
work ethic, but has not had a job. In fact, college students may

Horace Gregory s Short ( But Perfectly Formed D. H....
CHAPTER TWO Inquisitive D. H. Lawrence versus Anally Retentive Mr. Freud Horace Gregory s
short (but perfectly formed) D. H. Lawrence: Pilgrim of the Apocalypse (1933) explains how
Lawrence s two essays on psychoanalysis were motivated by his desire to understand. What he needed
to understand was why he was as he was; how the development of masculinity and gender identity
were influenced and how obstacles such as an over possessive mother might impair these
developments. Hence, his works on psychoanalysis were not written to be an acceptance of Freud s
doctrines but rather a critical approach to them. Gregory maintains the Lawrence s essays on
psychoanalysis offered him the means of checking back results of his convictions, and ... ... Show

What has to be realised, therefore, is that Lawrence s introduction to psychoanalysis is different to his
introduction to Freud and the two should not be confused. Arguably, though, on the question of
understanding the influences on shaping one s masculinity and gender identity, Lawrence s encounters
with Freud s work were a turning point for him. Indeed, his assessments of Freud were that he was a
pan sexualist, that is, one who makes sex accountable for everything, and his reasoned assessment of
Freud (and his work) was that he was a psychiatric quack. Ironically, although sections in Sons and
Lovers deal with situations that closely suggest what Freud called the Oedipus complex, Lawrence
had written the book before he came to Freud s work and before he mentioned Freud in his letters.
Therefore, when we talk of the book s oedipal quality and analyse Lawrence s assessment of gender
identity through Freudian psychology, this obviously presents its own problems. That is not to say
such a quality does not exist in the book. It does; but Lawrence did not write with the criteria of Freud
s Oedipus complex in mind. Lawrence s theories about the role of the mother and her influence on
masculine development must therefore have been coloured by other reading. Some of what Lawrence
had read up to this point is documented by Jessie Chambers.

Malala Yousafzai Speech Analysis
Education is something that everyone should strive for and needs to have. Whether you re young and
dumb, or old and think you know it all, there is always something new to learn. Education is always
going to be around, no matter what. That is why it is so important that everyone around the world has
access to it. In Malala Yousafzai s Nobel Peace Prize Lecture, the author, Malala Yousafzai, stresses
the importance of education and how it isn t something to take for granted. In this reading repetition is
evident throughout the whole content. For example repetition is used when Malala expresses how

I was just 10 when more than 400 schools were destroyed. Women were flogged. People were killed.
And our beautiful dreams turned into nightmares. These all tie together because of the emotion
brought out. You start to realize just how lucky you are if you have a school to attend, a book to read,
or a pencil to write with. There are hundreds and thousands, if not millions of kids around the world
that want an education more than anything, but there are also people who take it for granted which
makes you appreciate how much you really have. In more ways than one, logos is used here also.
Malala has experienced first hand the struggles kids go through everyday to try and receive and
education. She mentions how women were flogged, beaten severely with sticks, and even killed, just
trying to receive and education. These are all first hand experiences that Malala has gone through, as
well as millions of other girls.
Throughout the reading, the authors tone stays the same, very serious and demanding. More than
anything Malala wants education to be available to everyone, not just people in countries who don t
face crisis everyday. Education is one of the blessings of life and one of its necessities. Everything
about this is serious, it is letting the audience know that you need education. When my world suddenly
changed, my priorities changed too.

Family Dynamics And Juvenile Delinquency
There are four key elements in the family dynamic that affect juvenile delinquency. They are families
disrupted by separation and divorce, families involved in interpersonal conflict, ineffective parent who
lack appropriate parenting skills, and families that encompass deviant parents who may transfer their
behavior to their children.
From research, one of the most controversial studies on child deviant behavior involved the parents
and/or guardians acting as the key component of informal social control. When a family separation
occurs, there are no mechanisms in place to control children from becoming involved in antisocial
behavior and a broken home is a strong indicator of a child s law violating activities. A broken home is

the galley; the second, a convict rose higher than the law and set foot on it. In both cases it dishonored
him, Javert (530). Javert now faces his toughest challenge yet on whether or not to free Jean Valjean
and in both cases there is negative consequence. If he does return him to the galley man of authority
would fall lower than the man in the galley and if he doesn t, the law will be destroyed. Javert realises
that either way he is damned and the fate of Jean Valjean rests on if Javert is open minded and

Causes And Effects Of Animal Cruelty In Australia
Animal cruelty is a rapidly growing nationwide problem. Animals are being hurt and starved
everyday. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are forms of
animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCAAustralia (Royal Society for the Prevention of
Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be qualified as cruelty to
animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal; failing to provide it with food
and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an animal in an inhumane manner;
failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on. According to statistics, animals
who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats (18%). 25% are for other animals, such
as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means domestic pets are the most vulnerable category
to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty towards animals is a result of pet owners
demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the closest and most defenseless creatures.
Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testing are three major examples of animal cruelty.
Thousands of animals are being mistreated in Australia

Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park
Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park The area of Yellowstone National Park has a long
history of inhabitants, even before it became the nation s first national park. In the area now known as
Yellowstone National Park, wolves were once very prominent. However due to westward expansion in
the 1800s, agriculture began to increase. This led to the wolves that once thrived in this area to being
practically completely removed. The increase in agriculture in this region led to a lot of the wolves
prey becoming reduced or eliminated. Since the wolves had a decrease in prey, the wolves began to
prey on domestic animals, which then resulted in humans eliminating the wolves almost completely.
By the 1930s the wolf was eliminated from the area. This was before people had an understanding of
how ecosystems work and the interrelation of species. Now that the wolves were gone, elk then
became overpopulated. A lot of the vegetation began to disappear as well due to the overgrazing of the
elk. However after about a 70 year absence, in 1995 the wolves were carefully brought back to
Yellowstone. When they brought the wolves back to the park, there was not just an effect on one
species or one area but rather they affected the entire ecosystem of the area. I will discuss their effects
on areas such elk, beaver colonies, scavengers, aspen trees, willow trees and cottonwood trees. Once
the wolves were brought back into Yellowstone, immediately the elk population began decreasing.

  • 2. Injuries And Injuries Of Acl Injuries In this paper I will be researching ACL injuries in sports. Along with what causes these injuries to happen, how they can be prevent and if the footwear we use as athletes can make these injuries more or less likely to happen to us. I will also be looking closely into the reoccurring ACL injury in which Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls has been suffering from for the past few years. An ACL is the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) which is a ligament in the knee and is an essential internal stabilizer of the knee joint and helps in restraining hyperextension. It is injured when it s when the biomechanics of this ligaments limits are exceeded or over stretched, often with a hyperextended mechanic. It was thought that this occurred in sports where there was a lot of contact and when other structures were often involved. In the present day, the ACL injury seems to be more of a contactless injury such as; a dismount from a layup in basketball. Both forms of the injury occur more frequently in athletes than in the general population. They are also more established in alpine skiing, Association football, American football, Australian Rules football, basketball, rugby, professional wrestling, martial arts, and artistic gymnastics. It is also three times more likely to happen in males then it is in male athletes. The consequences of the injury are down to how much of the knee stability is affected and if injuries to other structures are badly damaged. This all varies from each and ... • 3. Race-Based Jury Nullification Race based Jury Nullification Cultural Diversity in Criminal Justice Race based Jury Nullification Racial differences within the court system of the United States can create various interpretations of laws and the impartiality of such laws. Minorities within this country may believe that the criminal justice system has prejudices and may dismiss the legality of certain laws. Jury nullification is a process in which members of the jury exonerate a person of a guilty verdict although the evidence presented in the case overwhelmingly proves the person s guilt. People within the jury may believe the laws are not fair, do not apply to the particular case, or they may empathize with the defendant (McNamara amp; Burns, 2009). Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The United States of America v. Marion S. Barry, Jr. After months of denying rumors and accusations of his drug use, former mayor of Washington, DC, Marion S. Barry, Jr., was caught engaging in illegal drug activity in a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sting operation. The veteran mayor s crime was caught on video tape by federal agents. On the night of January 18, 1990, FBI agents arrested Barry and brought him before a federal magistrate on misdemeanor drug charges of buying and selling crack cocaine. Barry s ex girlfriend, former model Rasheeda Moore was a cooperating government witness in the FBI undercover operation. Moore allegedly lured the mayor to a hotel rendezvous for romance and drugs. Prior to Barry and Moore s engagement, the FBI installed a hidden camera in the Washington, DC, hotel room. The camera provided United States attorneys and FBI agents with a real time video feed of the events taking place in the hotel room (CBS Interactive, 1990). United States Attorneys and FBI agents watched as the mayor gave Moore money to purchase cocaine. Unbeknownst to Barry, Moore left the hotel room and purchased crack cocaine from an undercover FBI agent standing by at the scene. Upon Moore s return, Marion Barry inhaled the crack cocaine using a smoking apparatus. Immediately after this, FBI agents burst into the hotel room to make the arrest. • 4. Animal Abuse Database Administration System .According to the AARDAS (Animal Abuse Database Administration System) the four major causes of animal s deaths include neglect, shooting, hoarding and fighting, followed by torture and mutation. (Evans 1) The abuse of animals is just one of the main rights that as humans we infiltrate. The ignorance of humans choosing to ignore the rights of innocent animals is drastically affecting our society. The assumption that animals are without rights and the illusion that our treatment of them has no moral significance is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity. Universal compassion is the only guarantee of morality. (Author Schopenhauer). Animals have rights, and our society continues to overlook those rights by using them in research, factory farming, and holding them in captivity, and these issues must be addressed with all seriousness for the sake of the animals and our society. The history of animal rights dates back to 1824 when a small group from England formed the society for prevention of cruelty to the animals. (Owen 20) This group was formed in response to animals being forced to participate in bull baiting where dogs fought a tether ball. This act of entertainment ended with the tether ball winning while the dog was defeated and injured. The group managed to get the first couple laws passed forbidding cruel treatment such as bull baiting to animals. This was a milestone in animal rights history, and shortly after, the ASPCA (American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Communication Skills And Leadership Skills A strong interest and need exist in the workplace today to be an effective leader. While some people assume that being a leader has its own skill assets, it is essential to know that people that withhold leadership positions in organizations need to have strong effective communication skills that suite their position. In fact, a recent study of recruiters from companies with over 50,000 employees cited that communication skills are the most important factor in choosing managers (Beebe and Mottet, 2016, p. 2). Communication skills are leadership skills. After conducting interviews with two leaders and researching leadership and communication skills, I ve concluded it s necessary for an effective leader to have 3 key communication skills. To ... It s a way for leaders to embody the change they want to pursue and help employees make sense of the organization. As important it is to form a connection with your employees, it s also important to manage conflict. Relational conflict at work is impossible to avoid. The ability to manage conflict is one of the most important skills a leader can have because if the conflict is ignored, it can get in the way of work and make a business less productive. The first interviewee explained a time where he assigned a task to his employees, and when one of his employees tried to contribute an idea, he unknowingly ignored the employee. He realized the next couple of days that the employee would slack off as well as give him the silent treatment. The second interviewee explained a time where an employee rudely responded to an email. He recognized that the email was misinterpreted and that he can come off a bit too callous. Both interviewees knowing that they are leaders and that it s important to stay on good terms with everyone at work, they quickly decided to manage the conflict. The way both interviewees described their conflict management was like Stone s 5 Step Process. Stone developed a five step process for conducting a productive conversation when dealing with conflict. • 6. Air Mail Act Of 1934 Essay The Air Mail Act of 1934 banned the common ownership of manufactures and airlines so; this caused the United Aircraft and Transport Corporation to spilt into three companies. Manufacturing east of the Mississippi River became United Aircraft, which is now United Technologies, manufacturing west of the Mississippi River became Boeing Airplane Company, and the airline interest became known as United Airlines. United s early routes were flown east to west from New York City via Chicago and Salt Lake City to San Francisco as well as north south on the west coast. The routes came from connecting airmail routes and from these routes came the first two hubs for United, which are Chicago and San Francisco. These are two hubs that are still the principal hubs for United Airlines today. In 1933, United introduced the Boeing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aircraft was a Douglas DC 6B and this time the bomber was identified to be Jack Graham who placed the bomb in his mother s bag to collect on her life insurance. He was arrested and executed. Next come three mid air collisions by United aircraft. The first one came on June 30, 1956 when a United s DC 7 collided with a TWA Super Constellation over the Grand Canyon. All 128 on board both flights died and this then was the world s deadliest commercial airline disaster. The next mid air came in 1958 when another one of United s DC 7s crashed into a United States Air Force F 100 fighter jet. The crashed landed in unpopulated desert terrain of Las Vegas, Nevada. The last of the mid air collisions comes on December 6, 1960 when United s DC 8, its first jet aircraft, hit another TWA Super Constellation over New York City. • 7. American Airlines Flight 1572 Crash Analysis The Accident On November 12, 1995, an American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD 83 type passenger aircraft, which was operating as Flight 1572, departed from Chicago O Hare International (ORD); however, the aircraft got substantially damaged due to impact to the top of oak trees on Peak Mountain Ridge in East Granby, Connecticut. The aircraft also hit the Instrument Landing System (ILS) localizer antenna, which was on its way to Runway 15 of Bradley International Airport (BDL). In addition, a VDP keeps the aircraft at an altitude that will not descend lower than the MDA. The VDP is useful for and frequently utilized during approaching to an unintended runway, such as the one at BDL, the VOR Runway 15. However, airmen of the flight 1572 were not utilizing any VDPs during the flight, did not calculate one either. Furthermore, the tower issues at the BDL airport might have contributed to the crash too. The last ATIS report the crew received was at 10:51 PM, which was almost two hours before the accident occurred. That last ATIS record became obsolete in short notice due to rapidly changing weather conditions at BDL. Even though extreme conditions were in effect at BDL, the aircrew was not informed with recent information. Therefore, even though the last ATIS record that was sent to pilots informed them about extreme weather conditions at BDL, additional ATIS records should have been released. The reason behind not emitting new ATIS records after the one sent at 10:51 PM was the timing and personnel congestion issues at the BDL tower. But if we look at the overall picture in the eye of citizens of a developing country, an honest assessment might conclude that progress has been made. Though, profound social disparities and extreme poverty are still lurking in some parts of this fragile planet. Foreign aid is the transfer of capital, goods, or services from one country to another. This approach was designed to undermine the communist government that was corrupt and biased that favored urban population over rural sections. Their pattern of distribution reflected political ties and proximity rather than absolute humanitarian need. By avoiding official structures and working with commanders at the local level, NGOs inevitably accentuated national regional tensions and legitimized military strongmen. In this manner, foreign aid with the ultimate goal of peace building with efforts tied to impartialness has turned a page of conflict. Positive. Effects of a large tax increase that Clinton pushed for in his first year are made prominent. For the most part, it fell entirely on upper income taxpayers and the wealthy people in our society. Clintons 1994 budget also contained some spending restraints. The cuts allowed the economy to boom and there were bigger gains in the stock market business that made people happy (Bennett,1998). The new budget brought in hundreds of millions in unexpected tax revenue from taxes on capital gains and rapidly rising salaries (Jackson,2008). • 24. This Be the Verse This Be The Verse is a lyric poem in three verses of four iambic tetrameter on an alternating rhyme scheme, by the English poet Philip Larkin (1922 1985). It was written around April 1971, first published in the August 1971 issue of New Humanist, and appeared in the 1974 collection High Windows. The title also ironically recalls the recurring phrase in the Old Testament threatening the sins of the father against his sons: for I the Lord, thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me [Exodus 20:5]. Larkin parodies the divine threat by rewriting the deliberate retribution of an angry vengeful God as the tragic shortcomings of your mum and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Yet Larkin incorporates it almost immediately into his poem. I can think of four possible reasons why. Firstly, words such as *censored* quickly and easily grab the audiences attention. This is similar to yelling sex in a crowded marketplace, everyone wants to know what is being discussed. Also, words like *censored* prepare the audience for a humorous bit of poetry, and this perks the audience s attention, and lets them know off the bat that this will not be another long and boring verse. Secondly, words such as *censored* produce an atmosphere for adults, or mature people. One term that is used quite extensively lately is adult language. This term branches off of the common idea that children should and would not use such words until they are older and have a more concrete knowledge of what they are really saying. Thus, by using a word such as *censored*, Larkin creates a poem that will most likely not be read to children. Also, such a poem would not be read at certain social gatherings (i.e. church meetings) where such words are considered unacceptable, further narrowing the audience for this poem. That brings me to my third point: that the people who read such a poem know, whether consciously or not, that they are in a distinct group, and that this poem was written for them. This allows Larkin to establish a closeness with his readers, now that they know that he is writing for them. This also implies to the reader that Larkin is one of them, that he ... The history of the Norse people goes all the way back to the Stone Age, but they are best known for a period of time when they raided several parts of Europe known as the Viking Age. The Viking Age is typically recorded in history as occurring approximately around 793 AD to 1066 AD. • 28. The Importance Of A Person Has A Good Work Ethic In America some jobs are more sought after than others, and to hold these positions without having it taken away requires experience and a good work ethic. There are many ways to show that a person has a good work ethic. Some are going to college and graduating with good grades. Others are getting and holding a job in or after high school or doing internships. However, there can be complications when a person is trying to show their interviewer that they have a good work ethic. Without a previous job or internship there is not much information about the individual applying for the job. Thus the employer might choose another worker. Even if the person without a previous job or internship is a harder worker with a better work ethic, they cannot show this until they are hired, and that is a risk that several companies do not take. Impressing potential employers requires the ability to show that one can receive and hold a previous job, or have been an internship that give the intern with experience in the work field. One way to make a resume impressive is to have prior work experience. Not only does this show that a person can hold a position at a place of work, but it also gives the potential employer a source to contact and receive more information about that individual. Having a prior job can make you appear to be a better candidate for the prospective job than someone with the same education and work ethic, but has not had a job. In fact, college students may ... • 31. Horace Gregory s Short ( But Perfectly Formed D. H.... CHAPTER TWO Inquisitive D. H. Lawrence versus Anally Retentive Mr. Freud Horace Gregory s short (but perfectly formed) D. H. Lawrence: Pilgrim of the Apocalypse (1933) explains how Lawrence s two essays on psychoanalysis were motivated by his desire to understand. What he needed to understand was why he was as he was; how the development of masculinity and gender identity were influenced and how obstacles such as an over possessive mother might impair these developments. Hence, his works on psychoanalysis were not written to be an acceptance of Freud s doctrines but rather a critical approach to them. Gregory maintains the Lawrence s essays on psychoanalysis offered him the means of checking back results of his convictions, and ... ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What has to be realised, therefore, is that Lawrence s introduction to psychoanalysis is different to his introduction to Freud and the two should not be confused. Arguably, though, on the question of understanding the influences on shaping one s masculinity and gender identity, Lawrence s encounters with Freud s work were a turning point for him. Indeed, his assessments of Freud were that he was a pan sexualist, that is, one who makes sex accountable for everything, and his reasoned assessment of Freud (and his work) was that he was a psychiatric quack. Ironically, although sections in Sons and Lovers deal with situations that closely suggest what Freud called the Oedipus complex, Lawrence had written the book before he came to Freud s work and before he mentioned Freud in his letters. Therefore, when we talk of the book s oedipal quality and analyse Lawrence s assessment of gender identity through Freudian psychology, this obviously presents its own problems. That is not to say such a quality does not exist in the book. It does; but Lawrence did not write with the criteria of Freud s Oedipus complex in mind. Lawrence s theories about the role of the mother and her influence on masculine development must therefore have been coloured by other reading. Some of what Lawrence had read up to this point is documented by Jessie Chambers. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They are families disrupted by separation and divorce, families involved in interpersonal conflict, ineffective parent who lack appropriate parenting skills, and families that encompass deviant parents who may transfer their behavior to their children. From research, one of the most controversial studies on child deviant behavior involved the parents and/or guardians acting as the key component of informal social control. When a family separation occurs, there are no mechanisms in place to control children from becoming involved in antisocial behavior and a broken home is a strong indicator of a child s law violating activities. Javert now faces his toughest challenge yet on whether or not to free Jean Valjean and in both cases there is negative consequence. Acts of violence towards animals, animal neglect and even psychological harm are forms of animal cruelty. If you check the webpage of RSPCAAustralia (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), you will find a list of actions and conditions that can be qualified as cruelty to animals. The list includes such points as torturing or beating an animal; failing to provide it with food and appropriate treatment in case of disease or injury; killing an animal in an inhumane manner; failing to provide appropriate transportation conditions, and so on. According to statistics, animals who suffer from cruelty most often are dogs (64.5%) and cats (18%). 25% are for other animals, such as horses (The Humane Society). Supposedly, it means domestic pets are the most vulnerable category to suffer from cruelty; also, it might mean cruelty towards animals is a result of pet owners demonstrating their anger, frustration, or stress on the closest and most defenseless creatures. Greyhound racing, puppy farms and animal testing are three major examples of animal cruelty. • 37. Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park Reintroducing Wolves to Yellowstone National Park The area of Yellowstone National Park has a long history of inhabitants, even before it became the nation s first national park. In the area now known as Yellowstone National Park, wolves were once very prominent. However due to westward expansion in the 1800s, agriculture began to increase. This led to the wolves that once thrived in this area to being practically completely removed. The increase in agriculture in this region led to a lot of the wolves prey becoming reduced or eliminated. Since the wolves had a decrease in prey, the wolves began to prey on domestic animals, which then resulted in humans eliminating the wolves almost completely. By the 1930s the wolf was eliminated from the area. This was before people had an understanding of how ecosystems work and the interrelation of species. Now that the wolves were gone, elk then became overpopulated. A lot of the vegetation began to disappear as well due to the overgrazing of the elk. However after about a 70 year absence, in 1995 the wolves were carefully brought back to Yellowstone. When they brought the wolves back to the park, there was not just an effect on one species or one area but rather they affected the entire ecosystem of the area. I will discuss their effects on areas such elk, beaver colonies, scavengers, aspen trees, willow trees and cottonwood trees. Once the wolves were brought back into Yellowstone, immediately the elk population began decreasing. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
