The document discusses the past simple tense in Spanish. It explains that the past simple is used to talk about things that happened in the past. It provides the rules for forming the affirmative, negative, and interrogative forms of regular and irregular verbs in the past simple tense. Examples are given to illustrate how to add "-ed" or change the verb form depending on whether it is regular or irregular.
The main objective of this PPT is to know when you use one or the other or these tenses. A revision of irregular tenses is necessary, too in order not to make mistakes (spelling, ...)
1. El PAST SIMPLE
Utilitzem el past simple per parlar de coses que van tenir lloc en el passat.
Forma afirmativa – verbs regulars
Els verbs regulars formen el passat afegint la terminació –ed a la forma bàsica del verb.
- I/You/He/She/It/We/You/They called.
Play – Played They played tennis yesterday.
Pass – Passed The passed all her exams.
Star – Started. The film started late.
- Els verbs que acaben en –e afegeixen només –d:
Dance – Danced They danced all night.
Arrive - Arrived He arrived late.
- Si el verb acaba en –y, aquesta vegada es converteix en –i devant de –ed:
Try – Tried My mother studied French.
Study - Studied The baby cried all night.
- Els verbs curts que acaben en conconant + vocal + consonant dupliquen la
consonant final abans d’afegir –ed:
Stop – Stopped The referee stopped the match.
Plan - Planned They robbed the bank.
Forma afirmativa – verbs irregulars
- Hi ha verbs que no afegeixen la terminación –ed per fer el passat, sinó que
utilitzen formes completamente direfents les unes de les altres i no es pot fer una
norma.
Eat – Ate I ate a lot.
Drive - Drove He drove fastly.
