The Battle Of The Ottoman Empire
For the Ottoman to progress further it needed a new national mantra for legitimacy in order to earn the
respects of its subjects, in addition the empire had to mold a new national ethos . As said before that if
the Empire was to survive in the modern world, it could no longer be a group of disparate
communities held together by force and obedience to a ruling family; it needed a unity of
consciousness, which would create an active moral link between rulers and the ruled (Hourani 1991:
52). In this sense the old ways of cementing authority were no longer valid during the mid nineteenth
century. Another country that faced this dilemma was Russia, which ironically, was a longtime rival of
the Ottoman Empire for influence in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea, yet just like the Ottoman
Empire it also faced the challenges of reconciling the increasingly outdated notion of absolute
monarchy to modern civic values. For Russia its answer was to turn to an ideology that would
seemingly be a unifying factor for the Slavic peoples in Europe with the Czar as its head similar to
that of Pan Islam followed by Abdul Hamid. In the Russian case it would follow three principles:
Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Nationality. This notion was formulated by the late Russian education
minister Sergei Uvarov who stated these principles in an 1832 report outlining the future direction of
Russian education. Uvarov, a man who once studied in Vienna and an enthusiast for Oriental Studies,
believed that the

A comparison of Behar’s The Vulnerable Observer and...
When presented with ethnographic works, the first thing one would normally do would be to compare.
The Vulnerable Observer by Ruth Behar and In the Realm of the Diamond Queen by Anna
Lowenhaupt Tsing, both demonstrate key factors that prove to be prevalent throughout the
anthropological world today. Through the examination of each piece, it is clear that they both share
similar restrictions, trials and tribulations. As both books begin to unravel, the themes of marginality
and borders (in a multitude of contexts) rise to the surface. Besides the similarities, there are also
major differences between the two pieces of work. Behar and Tsing share a very different style of
anthropology, which creates am interesting contrast on the way each ... Show more content on

Also, throughout this ethnographic piece it is evident that there is some divide in the way men and
women are treated. This relates to Mascia Lee s piece on Gender and Anthropology as it examines the
borders that (usually, women) are faced with throughout the field of anthropology. On page 20 of this
article, it discusses the implications that borders and limitations impose on the levels of sexual
stratification throughout the anthropology world. (Masica Lee, 2000)
The next theme that is a relevant source of comparison for both novels would be on the basis of
marginality. In Behar s book, there are clearly instances where marginalized groups are displayed.
Since Behar is originally from Cuba, she discusses the way in which her life was before she moved to
the United States. One example in particular that stands out was the moment when Behar was
conversing with her friend Marta. Behar states that, ...promised I would do everything in my power to
protect Marta from the many perils of modernity on this side of the border. (Behar, 1996, p. 98) This
quote displays the way in which Marta, who came from Mexico, was about to conform to the norms of
American society, as she was about to partake in a hysterectomy. This relates to marginality due to the
fact that where Marta originated from, this would have never happened. This also relates to Mary
Douglas s article on External Boundaries. Within this article, Mary Douglas states that, ...it has
external boundaries,

Research Paper On Illegal Alien
Illegal Aliens: Friend or Enemy? The illegal alien debate has raged on for several decades; however in
recent years citizens have become more aware of the crisis. Illegal immigration is one of the most
controversial political issues of today s society. Illegal aliens and their immigration to the U.S. is a
problem that needs to be addressed. It is unfair to Americans and to the country from where they
immigrated from. Whether they (illegal aliens) take jobs or put a strain on Americans social service
programs, the constant invasion of illegal aliens has promoted disrespect for the law and also limits

Their cheap labor comes with a price, and that price has become too great for Americans to except
anymore. The cost associated with these illegal aliens are far to great, they are a drain on Social
Security, Medicare, School systems, food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free
school lunch programs. And they are undermining the core values this country was established on.
According to the Center for Immigration Studies, households headed by illegal aliens imposed more
than twenty six point three billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only sixteen
billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost ten point four billion according to the Census
Bureau. That s about two thousand seven hundred dollars per illegal alien household the tax payer is
having to fork over. The Census Bureau has also developed estimates of its own. Their estimate at the
time of the 2000 Census suggests that the illegal immigration population was more than eight million.
Using this number, it can be concluded that the illegal alien population has grown by almost half a
million a year in the 1990s. This conclusion is derived from a draft report that has been given to the
House immigration subcommittee by the Internal Revenue Service that estimated the illegal
population was three and a half million in 1990. For the illegal population to have reached eight
million by 2000, the net increase had to be four hundred thousand to five hundred

Pathological Pain
In order to fully answer this question, it is important to understand the definition of pain. The
International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as an unpleasant sensory and emotional
experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage
(Mersky and Bogduk ed 1994). The physiological function of the pain sensory system is protective in
nature, to shield the body from actual or potential tissue damage. Pathological pain, on the other hand,
is described as spontaneous pain, hyperalgesia and allodynia, that persist for years or decades after all
possible tissue healing has occurred (Coderre et al 1993).
Nociceptors are peripheral sensory neurons that detect the physical sensation of ... Show more content

There are many mechanisms for the sensitisation of nociceptors. A common scenario for this
occurrence is when peripheral tissue is subjected to exogenous injury, whether it be mechanical,
chemical, or toxic. Injury results in localised increase in inflammatory mediators, leading to the
sensitisation of nociceptors. Upregulation and increased expression of various membrane receptors is
the most common mechanism. Ionotropic receptors, Gq protein coupled metabotropic receptors, Gs
protein coupled metabotropic receptors, and mitogen activated protein kinase have been shown to be
upregulated in nociceptors in response to the presence of inflammatory mediators (Sessle ed 2008).
The resultant effect is increased conductance, lowered threshold for the initiation of action potentials,
spontaneous depolarisation, and increased after discharges to supra threshold stimuli (Sessle ed 2008).
Sprouting, or the growth of neuronal axons into the damaged tissue, also contributes to pathological
pain. Increased number of nociceptive axons increases the opportunity for spatial and temporal
summation and activation of nociceptors, which under normal conditions would not be activated.
Sufficient concentration of inflammatory mediators can also lead to the activation of nociceptors
which do not participate in the detection of noxious stimulus (Sessle ed 2008). With an increased
number of nociceptors feeding back to the CNS, the sensation of pain is

Introduction
Chemical equilibrium is defined as a state in which the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of
the backward reaction [1]. Equilibrium constant, defined as a number that expresses the relationship
between the amounts of products and reactants present at equilibrium in a reversible chemical reaction
at a given temperature [2]. The equilibrium constant, Keq, was found by multiplying the products
concentrations, then dividing it by the equilibrium concentrations product of the reactant. Small Keq
values means that the reaction does not fully go to completion. When looking at a large Keq value, the
reaction entirely goes to completion therefore ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b is the cuvette s length also known as the pathlength and it is 1cm. E is also a constant which means
there is a relationship between absorbance and concentration. Moreover, Le Chatelier s principle
needs to be brought up again in order to account for an off Keq value. This could be due to not adding
enough of the reactant ion which did not allow the reaction to be driven completely.

The Most Dominant And Influential Empires
The Umayyads created the first true Muslim dynasty passing down power strictly within family
boundaries from generation to generation. During their reign lasting from 661 to 750 AD, they built
the early Islamic community up into one of the most dominant and influential empires in the world.
During this time, the Umayyads would create the basis of how the Islamic Empire would be operated
moving forward. They would soon become a dynasty in question because of their lack of descent from
Muhammad, their arguable passage of power from father to son, and their injustice and ill treatment of
non Arab Muslims. Their desecrating rulers overall had a negative impact on Islam and ultimately led
to their fall.

Ali then succeeded Uthman as the next caliph. Muawiya wanted the assassins responsible for Uthman
s death to be handed over, but Ali was unable to comply with his demands. This conflict led to the first
Muslim civil war or fitna. Ali defeated Aisha, a supporter of Muawiya who was also the Prophet
Muhammad s widow, and other prominent Muslims at the Battle of the Camel, but then later lost to
Muawiya at the Battle of Siffin in Syria. The civil war ended with no winner, but shortly after Ali was
assassinated by a kharijite in Kufa. Muawiya emerged as the leader after convincing Al Hasan, Ali s
son, to give up his right to the caliphate establishing himself as the first Umayyad caliph. He was
driven to create a strong, effective, and somewhat centralized government. He moved the capital from
Medina to Damascus and gave Christians, in many cases ex Byzantine officials government positions,
which led to some new financial and administrative systems that were unwelcomed by many.
Muawiya was the beginning of a long line of impious rulers who did not give in to what the people of
the province wanted, had his own personal agenda, and really only gave in to the religion of Islam
around the time they assumed a government position.
Muawiya broke the status quo by appointing his son Yazid his successor. This was a serious problem,

what happens. There is a girl named pai who frequently breaks the tribes traditions. Utamataly

URL(Uniform Resource Locator): A URL which is an abbreviated form of Uniform Resource Locator
is the unique address for a file that is accessible on the Internet. A common way to access any Website
is by entering the URL in the address line of the Web browser. However, any file in the website can be
specified in the URL to access the same, it can either be a home page of the website, an image file
related to the website or even a program such as a common gateway interface application or Java

name that identifies a specific computer on the Internet, and a pathname, a hierarchical description
that specifies the location of a file on that computer. URL strings consists of three parts (Substrings):
Network Protocol Host name or address File or resource location These substrings are separated by
special characters as follows: protocol :// host / location URL Protocol The protocol substring defines
a network protocol to be used to access a resource. These strings are short names followed by three
characters like ://. Typical URL Protocols include http://, ftp:// and mailto:// URL Host The host
substring identifies a computer or network device. Hosts come from standard databases like DNS and

Samuel shows little feelings for his wife Elizabeth throughout his diary. As both extracts show his
attitude and treatment towards Elizabeth could be common of the attitudes of other men in the 17th
century. The stereotypical role for most women was to marry young, also, women were not as well
educated as their husbands and were therefore thought of as second class citizens. Other women were
not so fortunate and became housemaids rather than marry. As there were arranged marriages in the
17th century Samuel had married Elizabeth, who was fortunate as she was the daughter of a Huguenot
(a French protestant). Traditionally marriages were made on social class in relation to status and
education, or alternatively it was as a goodwill gesture between families or a business associate. It was
very rare that marriages were made for reasons of love and compassion. Elizabeth however was
chosen for political reasons, as from looking into Samuels work history and the history up to the 1660

The Problem Of The European Debt Crisis
Introduction
The European debt crisis is a culmination of many factors and long gone are the days of economies
not being tied to each other. With modern globalization, major financial crisis s can lead to worldwide
turmoil and economic downturn. What happens in other markets, will not only affect their market, but
markets all over the world. Because of this, the European debt crisis is not just Europe s problem, but
rather everybody s problem. The rout causes of the European Debt Crisis are known. However,
restoring the economies that were hardest hit is no easy task. Economist all over the world have ideas
and plans that they think will work. Only time will tell what works, and the longer it takes, the harder
it is on the citizens of the countries affected most.
Description
As mentioned earlier, globalization has led to all markets being tied together. With the United States
being one of the biggest economies in the world, and the financial crisis it was going through in 2009,
it started a ripple effect throughout Europe. With Americans defaulting on their mortgages, banks in
Europe who had invested in the United States housing by buying bonds, were now losing money. The
effect that this had on European countries was devastating. The money that they borrowed, they lost
and when it came time to pay back, they simply couldn t. The ripple effect that started in the United
States, was now starting to destroy the economy in European countries starting the very beginning of

The Immigration Act of 1917
An immigrant in terms mean a subject of legal and political subject far from gaining the citizenship
and rights. The influx of exclusive classes constituting immigrants admission into the nations was a
biggest concern with the idea that the national body should be protected from contaminants of social
degeneracy. The idea of deportation played central role in immigration policy. According to the critics,
deportation is unjust in the case of separating families. Ironically appeal to prevent family separation
was effective in the areas with numerous European immigrants were found. I agree with that statement
because intruding into peaceful family privacy is doing wrong. Giving the option to free migration is
important in furthering the process of capitalist industrialization of America. This pattern of this trend
is still persist in modern day immigration. In year of 1925, under authorization of Congress, Border
Patrol took action on arresting aliens without warrant. In my point of view they don t even have no
statutory authority to proceed that. At the same time the illegal entry was in effect, a quota law which
is the restrictive immigration policy, started producing more and more illegal aliens. I prove this
wrong because putting limits based on racial type, nationality of world s population in order of
desirability is unfair way of determining which immigrants is qualified for entry into U.S. This law
tells a lot that it s very racist in that their intention of wanting

Future Human Space Exploration And Operations
Asteroids will provide the means to transform future human space exploration and operations in to
large scale activities. They will first provide a rich source of minerals and material for initial economic
expansion and concurrently providing platforms for operations and manufacturing. Eventually,
asteroids could be used as space vehicles to move humans across and possibly beyond the solar
system effectively becoming mobile bases of operations and even space colonies. The only significant
limitations for this future growth are technological capability and legal ambiguity for large scale
human space activity. For any space activity to overcome its limitations and get off the ground, the
activity must generate a great deal of interest.
Asteroids have long been of high interest to the scientific community to help answer many early solar
system mysteries. However, industrialists such as Deep Space Industries have taken an interest in
these objects as well1. They are already creating companies to attempt mining some of these objects.
Upon close inspection the composition of asteroids relative to Earth something amazing appears.
Asteroids contain as much or orders of magnitude more than the Earth critical materials needed to
create a thriving economy2. This explains the interest in space industrialists particularly when
considering our current capability for creating spacecraft.
Current space launches can be prohibitively expensive and dangerous. The cost per pound has always

Good Teachers In America
In America there are many good teachers. I believe that a good teacher needs to be funny, caring, nice,
relatable, and relaxed. A good teacher needs to be funny so that they can make boring moments in
class fun and not near as boring. Also, a teacher needs to be caring and really care about her students.
The teacher needs to be caring so that the students in the class feel important and wanted. Another
characteristic a good teacher has is being nice, the teacher also needs to be nice so that if a student is
having a bad day that they will be able to cheer the student up. The teacher also needs to be relatable
so that the students can feel a connection to the teacher. Lastly, a teacher needs to be relaxed so that

Due to results from a sanitary sewer evaluation of the Nebraska DEQ, the Papio Branch water

flow is outputting to the reservoir.
The discharge (decant flow) flow in the pipe varies from continuous to intermittent through the 10

concrete headwall where the Doppler wave meter will be placed permanently.

probe, band, screws/mounting devices, power supply, and outputs. The prices listed below are quotes
from a Teledyne Isco sales representative.
Signature Area Velocity flow meter system: starts at $3,700 o This includes the meter, the sensor, a
32.8 foot cable, a manual, and a pocket guide. The price may change if other options are added.
Sensor carrier for attachment to the mounting rings: $50
Spring Ring for a 10 inch pipe: $91
8 foot power cord: $25
Analog 4 20mA output with two channels: $310
Internal seven digit mechanical totalizer: $115 o Total (minimum for all listed options): $4,291
If the pipe has silting or ragging issues, then a Laser Flow Meter should be used instead of the Area
Velocity meter. The Laser Flow meter is a non contact Doppler meter that provides all of the same
information as the area velocity meter without having a sensor in the water. The benefit of this would
be if the pipe has ragging issues or there is a lot of silting/debris that could potentially get stuck on the
probe and cause the probe to not read the way it should be. This is a much more expensive option it
would provide data without the worry of silt/debris or ragging of the pipe getting in the way. Costs for
this type of meter are listed below.

sider BACKGROUND Efficient market theory examines how accurately stock prices signal resource
allocation alloc and fully reflect all available information. Fama (1970) introduced the efficient market
hypothesis stating there are three forms of efficiency: weak, semi strong, and strong. A market semi
strong, that incorporates all historical information is said to be weak form efficient, while one that
responds to all publicly available informatio is semi strong efficient. In a semiinformation strong
efficient market, prices instantly change to reflect publicly available information. A strong form
market, strong responds to all information, both public and private. The hypothesis claims that
achieving above average returns on a risk adjusted basis is impossible (Fama 1970). (Fama, The
lowest level of market efficiency, weak form, states that the market only reacts to historical
information. This means that no one can earn above normal returns based on published historical
information; however, the market does not quickly react to new public or private information. It may
be possible then, in a weak form efficient market, to obtain abnormal returns form using either new

Computer Science That Has Evolved From Pattern Recognition...
Machine Learning is a sub discipline of Computer Science that has evolved from Pattern Recognition
and Computational Learning Theory. ML is akin to Data Mining in the sense that both approaches
look for patterns in the data set and while the former trains the program to better its understanding, the
latter focuses on extraction of data for human comprehension. A typical application employing ML
would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge
samples of historical data to create a model. This model is later utilized on real time data sets to
predict what happens next. While Machine Learning itself has been around for decades, it has found
itself into reckoning with the advent of Big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

With massive data at disposal comes the huge potential to analyze this data to draw inferences or

to move to the cloud would be the varying computational requirements in the ML lifecycle. The
process of training/ retraining your model requires enormous computation power and resources, while
the process of utilizing your trained models does not require any resources. The varying workload of
the ML lifecycle makes it an ideal candidate for the cloud. Cloud Computing is a powerful technology
that allows complex computations on massive scale data by eliminating the need to maintain dedicated
storage space or maintain expensive hardware. Also it follows intuitively to train your models in the

The cloud based platforms make Machine Learning more accessible to a large group of users who
intend to deploy predictive models in order to enhance their products or services.

A Short Note On The De La Literatura

Dante And Virgil s Punishment In Dantes Inferno
In Dante Alighieri s Inferno, Dante the pilgrim and Virgil, his guide, venture through each layer of hell
where they encounter different sinners. In the second circle of hell, they see an eternal whirlwind
tormenting the lustful sinners (Inf. 5. 31 33). It is here that Dante and Virgil encounter the star crossed
lovers, Francesca and Paolo (Inf. 5. 82 85). Dante learns that Francesca was forced into marriage but
fell in love with her brother in law, Paolo. One day, Francesca and Paolo became moved by the story
of Guinevere and Lancelot and shared a fatal kiss. Their desire for one other condemned them to hell
(Inf. 5. 124 135). Upon hearing their tragic story, Dante becomes overwhelmed and faints (Inf. 5. 139

Francesca s character is composed of the punishment she suffers and the story of her downfall. The
description of the whirlwinds and suffering that she must endure for eternity sets the sympathetic
mood for Dante and Virgil s encounter with Francesca. When Francesca speaks to Dante, the poetic
words and references to love she uses creates an overwhelming effect of sympathy. She is shown to be
a victim of love rather than lust. Dante s reaction to Francesca when he faints completes the
sympathetic effect. All these components converge and create the message that lust is easily mistaken
for love. Dante Alighieri utilizes this situation to present mankind s difficulty to understand lust from
love. Much like Francesca, mankind is driven by inner passions, becoming incapable of seeing the
reality of lust from love. Ultimately, Francesca reflects the difficulty of differing lust from love in

How Did Marie Curie Contribute To Research
The pair were both very dedicated scientists and at first worked on separate projects. Marie was very
interested in the work of a French physicist named Henri Becquerel. He discovered that uranium casts
off rays. Marie Curie took Henri Becquerel s work a little further and conducted experiments on
uranium rays. She discovered that the rays remained the same despite the condition or form of the
uranium. This idea created the field of atomic physics and Madame Curie invented the term
radioactivity to describe the occurrence. Later, in 1897, Marie and Pierre had a daughter. The birth of
their daughter didn t slow down their work. In order to help Marie with her exploration of

710 Freeway Extension Project Essay
In May of 2015, the California Department of Transportation and the Metropolitan Transportation
Authority held a public hearing to gather feedback from the community about potential environmental
concerns related to the 710 Freeway extension project. In a report released by Caltrans earlier that
year, five potential alternatives were mentioned in relation to the closure of the 4.5 mile gap in the
freeway (between Alhambra and Pasadena). These alternatives included bus and rail lines and a dual
bore tunnel. After the release of the report and the discussion of potential environmental concerns and
alternative solutions/uses for the gap, a coalition of cities (Glendale, Pasadena, South Pasadena, and
Sierra Madre) examined environmental, safety ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some are now supporting suggestions to build a new neighborhood instead of completing the 710
Freeway. It seems the debate is neverending. The idea to skip use the gap to build a new neighborhood
came from a Pasadena based architectural firm, Stefanos Polyzoides with Moule Polyzoides.
Polyzoides suggests that Caltrans sell the land near the northern end of where the 710 Freeway is
supposed to be to the city of Pasadena. The city could then redevelop the land into housing,
businesses, etc. His mention of incorporating a tree boulevard only makes the plan sound better. The
Pasadena architect presented his plan at a West Pasadena Residents Association meeting. It included a
mixture of single family housing on the southern end of the 50 acre segement in Pasadena with more
dense housing closer to the 210 Freeway. Of course, businesses would be incorporated throughout the
neighborhood, as well. The design is being compared to Old Town Pasadena. Pasadena mayor, Terry
Tornek, is planning to put a repeal of Measure A on the November ballot. (Measure A is the voter
approved 2001 measure supporting the completion of the 710 Freeway). By doing so, he feels that the
freeway extension project would be essentially taken out of the game and Caltrans might then decide
to sell the land and make the Pasadena architect s vision of a new neighborhood in the freeway gap a

According to Inderjeet Dokal there are currently 13 known variations of genes that cause FA and they
are as follows: FANCA, FANCB, FANCC, FANCD1, FANCD2, FANCE, FANCF, FANCG, FANCI,
FANCJ, FANCL, FANCM, and FANCN (Dokal, 2008). Dokal and many other doctors agree that FA is
a very penetrant genetic disorder. That is, all of these subtypes of the FA gene can cause many of the
different types of cancer and bone marrow deficiencies that are associated with FA. For example, in
the list given by Dokal, the subtype FANCA is known to express as a gene that controls certain aspects
of protein coding. This one genetic subtype causes breakdowns in the various checkpoints throughout
the cell cycle. As you can imagine, this one gene can destroy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The expressivity and penetrance of FA are largely based on the number and type of subtypes present.
It was found that a large amount of the subtypes of FA actually interact with each other in one form or
another to cause reactions and abnormalities in many of the pathways that are critical to the replication
and regulation of DNA in each of the cells pathways. Interestingly enough, if just one of the subtypes
is not present, then the expression of the interference is not as extreme as it could be if all of the
subtypes needed for a category were present.
With that said, it s important to understand what happens during a normal cycle of DNA replication.
This will provide a greater understanding of the effects of FA on the DNA replication process. By
understanding the processes and events of replication you can see how those subtypes of FA like
FANCL can be so detrimental to the affected individuals cells. The process of replication in regards to
DNA is a complicated set of processes in which thousands of base pairs are accurately copied and
translated to produce new strands of DNA. It s important to note that DNA replication is a semi
conservative process, this means that every time a new DNA molecule is formed, an old strand is
incorporated along with the new strand. Each cycle recycles at least one of the old strands. The
process of DNA replication begins at specific sites called the origin of replication. This

Green Incentives in Malaysia
Environmental sustainability is gaining much focus in the recent years as people are beginning to
strive for a balance between economic growth and sustainability. In fact, many developed countries
such as UK, Japan have implemented strict environmental policies to enhance the quality on the

Research Paper On Indus River Valley Civilization
Ancient Egypt
Egyptian civilization began around 5000 BC and began to flourish in 3000 BC. Generally ancient
Egyptian history is seperated into three kingdoms the old kingdon, middle, and new kingdom. The old
kingdom (2686BC 2134BC) is the time period where most of what we think of ancient Egypt like the
pyramids (built as burial tombs for the pharoah). During that time Egyptians began to write texts,
study medicine, and find new battle tactics. The Egyptians were polytheists and had a pantheon of
gods, they believed the pharoah to be the god Horus and was thus treated as such.Egyptian society was
more egalitarian than other societies, women could own property and divorce their husbands. There
was not social mobility in Egyptian society, but It was not impossible to rise up the social ladder.

Dishonesty Quotes In The Jungle
In the novel The Jungle you read about of hardships and dishonesty being shown. Some examples of
this would be the food and most of the people there have to fight in order to to survive and keep a job,
you will soon find out how many struggles the family in this novel has to go through just to get to
where they are today. Many of the people in this novel find it is easier to lie about what they do or
have done because it is easier for them to get by. In the novel you read about dishonesty, they soon
become dishonest because they think it is easier to find a job or meet other people so that they are not
being judged by everyone else around them. By lying they can get a job and the younger kids in the
family are able to get a job to help provide as well. At the age of five kids began working so if you can
not go into work due to being sick or, if you end up getting fired there is still someone making at least
some kind of money. If you were dishonest you have an easier way of surviving and making it by in
life. You survive more because you last longer working where you are and you are bringing in more
money for you and your family to be able to eat and pay rent. Dishonesty plays many parts such as the
laissez faire. Laissez faire is when the government does not have a say in what businesses can and can

Maugham Canyon Essay
Bingham Canyon was settled in 1848 by the Bingham brothers, Thomas and Sanford, who were
ranchers with no mining experience. It has come along way since the Bingham brothers started mining
in Bingham Canyon. Today the mine is 2¾ miles across at the top and ¾ of a mile deep. You could
stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the
top of the mine. About 30 to 40 million years ago, molten, metal bearing rock deep within the earth s
crust began to push toward the surface and formed Bingham s ore deposit. Volcanoes erupted above
the evolving ore body. This particular ore body contains primarily copper, gold, silver and
molybdenum. It all started when the Bingham brothers came to Utah and claimed the land now known
as Bingham Canyon, or the Kennicott Mine. Later in 1863, soldiers stationed at Fort Douglas in Salt
Lake City explored the canyon and discovered lead ore. Utah s first mining district was created in the
Bingham Canyon area that same year. In 1893, Daniel Jackling, a metallurgical engineer, and Robert
Gemmell, a mining engineer, studied the deposit and recommended developing the ore body through a
revolutionary open pit mining method and processing the ore on a large, industrial scale. ... Show

Security needs to be addressed as a continued lifecycle to be effective. Daily, there are new attack
signatures being developed, viruses and worms being written, natural disasters occurring, changes in
the organization workplace taking place and new technologies evolving, these all effect the security
posture in the organization (King, 2002). This being said, it is important to evaluate firewall and router
rule sets more frequently. The possible threats against this policy include improperly configured
network infrastructure which leads to a domino effect that could start with malicious programming
which could end in data loss. Many of these threats may be unintentional as some users may not be
aware of the risks and how their processes and procedures open the door for such attacks. For this
reason alone, a more frequent evaluation is needed. This vulnerability could lead to data loss and the
exposure of trade secrets, client lists and product design. The exposure of such information for most
companies could mean a financial collapse as it no longer has the competitive edge that makes it the
industry leader. While the likelihood of this threat is very high, security risks to the network exist if
users do not follow the security policy. Security weaknesses emerge when there is no clear cut or
written security policy document. A security policy meets these goals:
i. To inform users, staff and managers of their obligatory requirements

The Biblical Story Of Adam And Eve
The influence of the biblical story of Adam and Eve is very apparent in Rappaccinis Daughter. This
being said, it is disappointing that little to no criticisms are found on this topic. Nathanial Hawthorns,
Rappaccinis daughter, is an Allusion of Adam and Eve and therefore an allegory.
When approached with a readers responds critique, one is reminded of the biblical story of Adam and
Eve, the creation of man. The story of Adam and Eve happens in Genesis chapter 2 and 3. Long story
short, god made Adam and eve to look after Eden, he told them to never eat from the tree of
knowledge. A serpent, Satan, persuaded eve to eat the fruit of knowledge, and she persuaded Adam to
do the same, when god found out they were banned from Eden.
If you switch some of the characters and setting you are given a story close to Rappaccinis Daughter.
Giovanni would be Adam and Beatrice would be eve, the serpent would be Rappaccini himself and the
bush covered in purple flowers represents the tree of knowledge. In this version of the creation of
man, everything is manipulated. The serpent, Rappaccini plays god. He changes what god has done
into a perversion. Rappaccini, never persuaded Beatrice to smell the flowers, he exposed it to her,
making her immune. Giovanni falls for this eve and is now stuck to this poisons sin.
Scholars approach this recreated story of the creation of man with the idea of that it follows the tide of
an imaginative scenario of human breeding and tyranny, exploring the

The privilege to worship religion in a free setting. This is an intriguing and convincing one for me.
Vote based system functions admirably when the greater part of its residents feel that they find
themselves able to have some effective reach that is free from outside control. The issue of religion is
one that falls into this class. People need to feel some level of profound satisfaction and ought to have
the capacity to pick uninhibitedly how that way is taken. It can be through religion, deep sense of

right does not meddle with each others entitlement to be allowed to sit untethered, the vote based
obligation of resilience and acknowledgment is progressed and I think that this is of basic significance
in a law based state. More spiritual fulfillment within in any individual. I think the image I would

where they wish to graze into the blue skies or whatever they may choose. I believe that if the United

crazy. Having the right privilege to worship God or whom ever or what ever makes this country

During the 1920 s, the North American economy was roaring, but this decade would eventually be put

Working Through The Copper Cycle Experiment
Title: Working through the Copper Cycle Experiment to Gain Understanding
Author Information
Lab Partner: Leah Richmond* and Shelby Alred
Course: CHEM 111 571
Introduction:
During lab, we put the metal copper under different circumstances so that we could gain a better
understanding as to what goes on in the copper cycle. Throughout each stage of the copper cycle, we
deduced what type of chemical reaction took place based on observation, made observations about the
state of the metal and what type of environment it was subjected to, and determined what the net ionic
equation was for each stage. Following the experiment, we calculated what the percent yield was and
compared the changes in mass from the initial stage to the final stage.
Materials and Methods:
First, we assembled a fume hood by using a ring stand, a hot plate, a 50 ml beaker, an iron ring to
secure the beaker, and a plastic funnel hooked up to rubber tubing and an aspirator. A hose from the
sink was then connected to the aspirator and the pressure that the water created allowed the fume hood
to remove whatever excess gas was given off during the experiment. In cycle step one, we placed
approximately 250 mg of copper into the 50 ml beaker then added 6 ml of HNO_3. We then heated the
plate to 10° C until the reaction took place to save time. We would recommend heating the plate
initially at 20 C in order to speed up the experiment. The solution was at 11 ml total at the end of
step1. In cycle step 2, we

Network security revolves around confidentiality, authentication, message integrity, and access
availability.
The vulnerabilities of wireless networking may involve the attack of web browsers, on line banking,
DNS servers, and routers exchanging routing table updates, purchases, transactions or stolen personal
data. The lack of security with a wireless system may result in denial of service, hijacking, fake
impersonation, or eavesdropping for interception of messages through cyber crimes. Each
communicating user should select the language of cryptography, agree and share the symmetric key.
The best security practices includes firewalls, intrusion detection systems, secured and updated
applications, transport, configured properly working network, and link layers.

Learning Organization: Answer to Organizational Growth
Introduction
Organizations are established to fulfil various needs of the people. The organizational objectives could
be achieved via the organization s growth oriented mechanism which is inevitable in today s
competitive world. However, the most important factor which needs to be taken into consideration
towards achieving the objective is the people or staff members who directly have impact on the
productivity of the product or services. Negative behaviour such as absenteeism and high turnover
rates will increase the production cost and adversely affect the productivity, thus affecting the overall
organisational growth.

Essentially, it s by feedback from their customers. This can be either in a form of messages written or

The process of creating the conditions for a learning organization and of challenging long held
assumptions will itself begin to integrate the five disciplines as presented by Peter Senge in his book
The Fifth Discipline .
1. Personal Mastery
Personal mastery, as defined by Peter Senge, is the discipline of personal growth and learning. 1 It is
more than just competence and skills or spiritual growth. It is about creating a desired future and
moving toward it. People with high levels of personal mastery are skilled at creating a personal vision
and accurately assessing their current reality with respect to that vision. The gap between current
reality and personal vision propels them forward. This gap is often referred to as creative tension.
Personal mastery is about generating and sustaining creative tension and living comfortably with that
tension.
There are few characteristics of those individuals that recognized to have high level of Personal
Mastery. Firstly, they have a special sense of purpose or calling. They know how to accurately assess
the current reality and quickly recognize inaccurate assumptions. These individuals also

Kant’s Deontology
Religion Philosophy Essay
a) What are the central features of Kant s deontolgy?
Immanuel Kant believed that to live a good life is to lead a life of happiness. This is not saying that
people should only live a life that brings them pleasure and satisfaction, as is often argued in
Utilitarianism. Rather it is saying that to live a moral life is to live in a state of peace. For Kant, the
Summum Bonum (highest good) describes the ideal, where there is both virtue and happiness.
In The Fundamental Principles Kant speaks of a very comprehensive moral argument. This is of the
Good Will in which he says Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world, or even out of it, which
can be called good, without qualification, except a Good ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We are always influenced in our thinking and our intentions and attitudes change due to those around
us. Aristotle said Man is a social animal , which means that man enjoys the association of others and
may derive many advantages from it as well as alterations in thinking.
Universalisability supports the idea that it would not be fair for one person to follow a maxim while
another was criticized for acting the same way. However, after Kant gives the first formulation of the
categorical imperative, he offers four examples of the way maxims can be derived from moral law.
One of the maxims always tell the truth results from the irrationality of breaking a promise.
This is a big disadvantage because Kant says you have a moral duty to tell the truth to an inquiring
murderer about the location of the person he is looking for. Like in the case of the inquiring murderer,
Kant does not come up with a way to resolve conflicts between the maxims: you should not lie and
you should save lives . Both are good maxims but if you follow one of the maxims (don t lie), then
you cannot follow the other (save lives). Other conflicts similar to this would also be unresolved
although Kant argues that you cannot know the future and all the other variables involved, and

  • 2. The Battle Of The Ottoman Empire For the Ottoman to progress further it needed a new national mantra for legitimacy in order to earn the respects of its subjects, in addition the empire had to mold a new national ethos . As said before that if the Empire was to survive in the modern world, it could no longer be a group of disparate communities held together by force and obedience to a ruling family; it needed a unity of consciousness, which would create an active moral link between rulers and the ruled (Hourani 1991: 52). In this sense the old ways of cementing authority were no longer valid during the mid nineteenth century. Another country that faced this dilemma was Russia, which ironically, was a longtime rival of the Ottoman Empire for influence in Eastern Europe and the Black Sea, yet just like the Ottoman Empire it also faced the challenges of reconciling the increasingly outdated notion of absolute monarchy to modern civic values. For Russia its answer was to turn to an ideology that would seemingly be a unifying factor for the Slavic peoples in Europe with the Czar as its head similar to that of Pan Islam followed by Abdul Hamid. In the Russian case it would follow three principles: Orthodoxy, Autocracy, and Nationality. This notion was formulated by the late Russian education minister Sergei Uvarov who stated these principles in an 1832 report outlining the future direction of Russian education. • 3. A comparison of Behar’s The Vulnerable Observer and... When presented with ethnographic works, the first thing one would normally do would be to compare. The Vulnerable Observer by Ruth Behar and In the Realm of the Diamond Queen by Anna Lowenhaupt Tsing, both demonstrate key factors that prove to be prevalent throughout the anthropological world today. Through the examination of each piece, it is clear that they both share similar restrictions, trials and tribulations. As both books begin to unravel, the themes of marginality and borders (in a multitude of contexts) rise to the surface. Besides the similarities, there are also major differences between the two pieces of work. Behar and Tsing share a very different style of anthropology, which creates am interesting contrast on the way each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, throughout this ethnographic piece it is evident that there is some divide in the way men and women are treated. This relates to Mascia Lee s piece on Gender and Anthropology as it examines the borders that (usually, women) are faced with throughout the field of anthropology. On page 20 of this article, it discusses the implications that borders and limitations impose on the levels of sexual stratification throughout the anthropology world. (Masica Lee, 2000) The next theme that is a relevant source of comparison for both novels would be on the basis of marginality. In Behar s book, there are clearly instances where marginalized groups are displayed. Since Behar is originally from Cuba, she discusses the way in which her life was before she moved to the United States. One example in particular that stands out was the moment when Behar was conversing with her friend Marta. Behar states that, ...promised I would do everything in my power to protect Marta from the many perils of modernity on this side of the border. (Behar, 1996, p. 98) This quote displays the way in which Marta, who came from Mexico, was about to conform to the norms of American society, as she was about to partake in a hysterectomy. This relates to marginality due to the fact that where Marta originated from, this would have never happened. This also relates to Mary Douglas s article on External Boundaries. The illegal alien debate has raged on for several decades; however in recent years citizens have become more aware of the crisis. Illegal immigration is one of the most controversial political issues of today s society. Illegal aliens and their immigration to the U.S. is a problem that needs to be addressed. It is unfair to Americans and to the country from where they immigrated from. Whether they (illegal aliens) take jobs or put a strain on Americans social service programs, the constant invasion of illegal aliens has promoted disrespect for the law and also limits our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their cheap labor comes with a price, and that price has become too great for Americans to except anymore. The cost associated with these illegal aliens are far to great, they are a drain on Social Security, Medicare, School systems, food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunch programs. And they are undermining the core values this country was established on. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, households headed by illegal aliens imposed more than twenty six point three billion in costs on the federal government in 2002 and paid only sixteen billion in taxes, creating a net fiscal deficit of almost ten point four billion according to the Census Bureau. That s about two thousand seven hundred dollars per illegal alien household the tax payer is having to fork over. The Census Bureau has also developed estimates of its own. Their estimate at the time of the 2000 Census suggests that the illegal immigration population was more than eight million. Using this number, it can be concluded that the illegal alien population has grown by almost half a million a year in the 1990s. This conclusion is derived from a draft report that has been given to the House immigration subcommittee by the Internal Revenue Service that estimated the illegal population was three and a half million in 1990. For the illegal population to have reached eight million by 2000, the net increase had to be four hundred thousand to five hundred ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Pathological Pain In order to fully answer this question, it is important to understand the definition of pain. The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage or described in terms of such damage (Mersky and Bogduk ed 1994). The physiological function of the pain sensory system is protective in nature, to shield the body from actual or potential tissue damage. Pathological pain, on the other hand, is described as spontaneous pain, hyperalgesia and allodynia, that persist for years or decades after all possible tissue healing has occurred (Coderre et al 1993). Nociceptors are peripheral sensory neurons that detect the physical sensation of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are many mechanisms for the sensitisation of nociceptors. A common scenario for this occurrence is when peripheral tissue is subjected to exogenous injury, whether it be mechanical, chemical, or toxic. Injury results in localised increase in inflammatory mediators, leading to the sensitisation of nociceptors. Upregulation and increased expression of various membrane receptors is the most common mechanism. Ionotropic receptors, Gq protein coupled metabotropic receptors, Gs protein coupled metabotropic receptors, and mitogen activated protein kinase have been shown to be upregulated in nociceptors in response to the presence of inflammatory mediators (Sessle ed 2008). The resultant effect is increased conductance, lowered threshold for the initiation of action potentials, spontaneous depolarisation, and increased after discharges to supra threshold stimuli (Sessle ed 2008). Sprouting, or the growth of neuronal axons into the damaged tissue, also contributes to pathological pain. Increased number of nociceptive axons increases the opportunity for spatial and temporal summation and activation of nociceptors, which under normal conditions would not be activated. Sufficient concentration of inflammatory mediators can also lead to the activation of nociceptors which do not participate in the detection of noxious stimulus (Sessle ed 2008). During their reign lasting from 661 to 750 AD, they built the early Islamic community up into one of the most dominant and influential empires in the world. During this time, the Umayyads would create the basis of how the Islamic Empire would be operated moving forward. They would soon become a dynasty in question because of their lack of descent from Muhammad, their arguable passage of power from father to son, and their injustice and ill treatment of non Arab Muslims. The civil war ended with no winner, but shortly after Ali was assassinated by a kharijite in Kufa. Muawiya emerged as the leader after convincing Al Hasan, Ali s son, to give up his right to the caliphate establishing himself as the first Umayyad caliph. He was driven to create a strong, effective, and somewhat centralized government. He moved the capital from Medina to Damascus and gave Christians, in many cases ex Byzantine officials government positions, which led to some new financial and administrative systems that were unwelcomed by many. Muawiya was the beginning of a long line of impious rulers who did not give in to what the people of the province wanted, had his own personal agenda, and really only gave in to the religion of Islam around the time they assumed a government position. As both extracts show his attitude and treatment towards Elizabeth could be common of the attitudes of other men in the 17th century. The stereotypical role for most women was to marry young, also, women were not as well educated as their husbands and were therefore thought of as second class citizens. Other women were not so fortunate and became housemaids rather than marry. As there were arranged marriages in the 17th century Samuel had married Elizabeth, who was fortunate as she was the daughter of a Huguenot (a French protestant). Traditionally marriages were made on social class in relation to status and education, or alternatively it was as a goodwill gesture between families or a business associate. It was very rare that marriages were made for reasons of love and compassion. Elizabeth however was chosen for political reasons, as from looking into Samuels work history and the history up to the 1660 s he could have married Elizabeth to help keep peace and promote integration ... However, restoring the economies that were hardest hit is no easy task. Economist all over the world have ideas and plans that they think will work. Description As mentioned earlier, globalization has led to all markets being tied together. With the United States being one of the biggest economies in the world, and the financial crisis it was going through in 2009, it started a ripple effect throughout Europe. With Americans defaulting on their mortgages, banks in Europe who had invested in the United States housing by buying bonds, were now losing money. The influx of exclusive classes constituting immigrants admission into the nations was a biggest concern with the idea that the national body should be protected from contaminants of social degeneracy. The idea of deportation played central role in immigration policy. According to the critics, deportation is unjust in the case of separating families. Ironically appeal to prevent family separation was effective in the areas with numerous European immigrants were found. I agree with that statement because intruding into peaceful family privacy is doing wrong. Giving the option to free migration is important in furthering the process of capitalist industrialization of America. This pattern of this trend is still persist in modern day immigration. In year of 1925, under authorization of Congress, Border Patrol took action on arresting aliens without warrant. In my point of view they don t even have no statutory authority to proceed that. At the same time the illegal entry was in effect, a quota law which is the restrictive immigration policy, started producing more and more illegal aliens. I prove this wrong because putting limits based on racial type, nationality of world s population in order of desirability is unfair way of determining which immigrants is qualified for entry into U.S. This law tells a lot that it s very racist in that their intention of wanting ... Machine Learning is a sub discipline of Computer Science that has evolved from Pattern Recognition and Computational Learning Theory. ML is akin to Data Mining in the sense that both approaches look for patterns in the data set and while the former trains the program to better its understanding, the latter focuses on extraction of data for human comprehension. A typical application employing ML would involve the design and construction of an algorithm where the program is trained through huge samples of historical data to create a model. This model is later utilized on real time data sets to predict what happens next. Polyzoides suggests that Caltrans sell the land near the northern end of where the 710 Freeway is supposed to be to the city of Pasadena. Dokal and many other doctors agree that FA is a very penetrant genetic disorder. That is, all of these subtypes of the FA gene can cause many of the different types of cancer and bone marrow deficiencies that are associated with FA. The expressivity and penetrance of FA are largely based on the number and type of subtypes present. It was found that a large amount of the subtypes of FA actually interact with each other in one form or another to cause reactions and abnormalities in many of the pathways that are critical to the replication and regulation of DNA in each of the cells pathways. Interestingly enough, if just one of the subtypes is not present, then the expression of the interference is not as extreme as it could be if all of the subtypes needed for a category were present. With that said, it s important to understand what happens during a normal cycle of DNA replication. This will provide a greater understanding of the effects of FA on the DNA replication process. By understanding the processes and events of replication you can see how those subtypes of FA like FANCL can be so detrimental to the affected individuals cells. The process of replication in regards to DNA is a complicated set of processes in which thousands of base pairs are accurately copied and translated to produce new strands of DNA. It s important to note that DNA replication is a semi conservative process, this means that every time a new DNA molecule is formed, an old strand is incorporated along with the new strand. Each cycle recycles at least one of the old strands. The process of DNA replication begins at specific sites called the origin of replication. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

You could stack two Sears Towers (now known as the Willis building), on top of each other and still not reach the top of the mine. Giovanni would be Adam and Beatrice would be eve, the serpent would be Rappaccini himself and the bush covered in purple flowers represents the tree of knowledge. In this version of the creation of man, everything is manipulated. The serpent, Rappaccini plays god. He changes what god has done into a perversion. Rappaccini, never persuaded Beatrice to smell the flowers, he exposed it to her, making her immune. Giovanni falls for this eve and is now stuck to this poisons sin. Scholars approach this recreated story of the creation of man with the idea of that it follows the tide of an imaginative scenario of human breeding and tyranny, exploring the ... In our class discussion from Chapter 1, I learned that the ongoing judicial review and institutional amendment processes that have worked in the political system over time are what have made the system realize such an evolution. Numerous changes based on the philosophies of individuals such as John Locke occurred in the Constitution as the political system continued to grow. Various changes in light of the rationalities of people, for example, John Locke happened in the Constitution as the political framework kept on advancing. This is an intriguing and convincing one for me. Vote based system functions admirably when the greater part of its residents feel that they find themselves able to have some effective reach that is free from outside control. The issue of religion is one that falls into this class. People need to feel some level of profound satisfaction and ought to have the capacity to pick uninhibitedly how that way is taken. It can be through religion, deep sense of being, or ID with a code of honor that is comprehended by them and only them. Comparing the 1929 Market Crash and the Current Position in the Stock Market During the 1920 s, the North American economy was roaring, but this decade would eventually be put to a stop. In October of 1929, the stock market began its steepest decline to this date in history. Many stock market traders and economists believe and pray that it was a one shot episode never to be repeated. On the other hand, many financial analysts and other economists believe that the current stock markets are in place to repeat the calamitous errors of the 1920 s. In the period from 1924 to 1929 the DJIA rose from 100 to 300, just prior to the crash of October 1929. During the 1930 s and the Great Depression, the DJIA reached a low of 42. At the beginning of this story Silas was headed to a perfect life or what we would call an above average led lifestyle in terms of wealth and such. Over the course of his school years Silas was able to perform extremely well and eventually attended the prestigious Yale University and chose to study law, which later allowed him to become a lawyer. During this time period, the American Revolution also started to arise and Silas found himself to be in the center of it. Working Through The Copper Cycle Experiment Title: Working through the Copper Cycle Experiment to Gain Understanding Author Information Lab Partner: Leah Richmond* and Shelby Alred Course: CHEM 111 571 Introduction: During lab, we put the metal copper under different circumstances so that we could gain a better understanding as to what goes on in the copper cycle. Throughout each stage of the copper cycle, we deduced what type of chemical reaction took place based on observation, made observations about the state of the metal and what type of environment it was subjected to, and determined what the net ionic equation was for each stage. Following the experiment, we calculated what the percent yield was and compared the changes in mass from the initial stage to the final stage. Materials and Methods: First, we assembled a fume hood by using a ring stand, a hot plate, a 50 ml beaker, an iron ring to secure the beaker, and a plastic funnel hooked up to rubber tubing and an aspirator. A hose from the sink was then connected to the aspirator and the pressure that the water created allowed the fume hood to remove whatever excess gas was given off during the experiment. In cycle step one, we placed approximately 250 mg of copper into the 50 ml beaker then added 6 ml of HNO_3. We then heated the plate to 10° C until the reaction took place to save time. We would recommend heating the plate initially at 20 C in order to speed up the experiment. The solution was at 11 ml total at the end of step1. In cycle step 2, we ... It is about creating a desired future and moving toward it. People with high levels of personal mastery are skilled at creating a personal vision and accurately assessing their current reality with respect to that vision. • 42. Kant‚Äôs Deontology Religion Philosophy Essay a) What are the central features of Kant s deontolgy? Immanuel Kant believed that to live a good life is to lead a life of happiness. This is not saying that people should only live a life that brings them pleasure and satisfaction, as is often argued in Utilitarianism. Rather it is saying that to live a moral life is to live in a state of peace. For Kant, the Summum Bonum (highest good) describes the ideal, where there is both virtue and happiness. In The Fundamental Principles Kant speaks of a very comprehensive moral argument. This is of the Good Will in which he says Nothing can possibly be conceived in the world, or even out of it, which can be called good, without qualification, except a Good ... Aristotle said Man is a social animal , which means that man enjoys the association of others and may derive many advantages from it as well as alterations in thinking. Universalisability supports the idea that it would not be fair for one person to follow a maxim while another was criticized for acting the same way. However, after Kant gives the first formulation of the categorical imperative, he offers four examples of the way maxims can be derived from moral law. One of the maxims always tell the truth results from the irrationality of breaking a promise. This is a big disadvantage because Kant says you have a moral duty to tell the truth to an inquiring murderer about the location of the person he is looking for. Like in the case of the inquiring murderer, Kant does not come up with a way to resolve conflicts between the maxims: you should not lie and you should save lives . Both are good maxims but if you follow one of the maxims (don t lie), then you cannot follow the other (save lives). Other conflicts similar to this would also be unresolved although Kant argues that you cannot know the future and all the other variables involved, and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
