Aims and Objectives
• Your training organisation should be supplying you with well
structured aims and objectives.
• A simple and easy to understand lesson plan would be good
so you know what to expect.
• You can then see whether or not they align to your needs.
• If you are not sure speak to them.
• You might want to ask them how they use Biggs theory within
their course.
Traditional Moving and Handling Training
is Less effective for many reasons
Evidence exists to demonstrate that traditional manual handling training is
largely ineffective in reducing back pain and back injury. (Clemes, 2010).
Techniques and principles often fail to transfer into the workplace. (Haslam et al,
2007).
A systemic review determined strong evidence that interventions
predominantly based on technique training, have no impact on working
practices or injury rates. (Hignett, 2003).
Desirable
Ask the organisation how do they overcome this as an issue, a good knowledge in this area is essential.
We have all been on that course
where we have not learnt a thing!!
Lack of learning and problem solving

A lack of constructive alignment (Biggs 2003)
