INTRODUCTION OF SCHOOL
Coliling National High School School, is a child friendly school zone. The
children were so lively and full of dreams to fulfil. The faculty staff were so very kind
and easy to approach whenever you have a confusing about the things in a certain
lesson, I’ve seen unity and courteousness in each teacher I met. The passion of
teaching is igniting in each classroom every effort and strategies to make the
learners absorb the lesson is a well captivated to see, you will felt the concern, care
and a well path to guide the learners to a better future because a one ray of light will
be the hope for many and if you will reflect it, That tiny hope will even grow and
expand if you will think and believe, and that was it a dream that will lead our dear
learners to move and look for the wonders of future. The environment of Coliling
National High School is wide and full of narra trees, mango tress and some flower
plants, Stone benches are everywhere for the pupils when they ate their snacks
during recess time or have their lunch and have some social interaction with their
peers. It is also useful for the parents that were waiting for their child whenever the
school dismissal is near.

HISTORY OF COOPERATING SCHOOL
Coliling National High School
Prior to the inception of free secondary education in all barangay high
schools all over the country, the operation and maintenance of Coliling Barangay
High School then, among other barangay high schools in the city, was partly
financed by the city government. Coliling National High School as one of the
pioneers in 1966 held its classes at the elementary school classrooms. It was then
managed by the elementary school principal. In 1988, when the nationalization of all
barangay high schools came to realize, a teacher in-charge was assigned in the
name of Mrs. Rosalia V. Calugay with eight (8) original teachers as starters of the
nationalization.
Due to felt-need of a site, the Parent-Teacher Association with the
unconditional support and cooperation of the community as a whole starting with
school year 1988-1989 sponsored several fund drives and made proper
representation with the local and national government officials concerned that led to
the attainment of 3,049 square meters lot (purchased). Later on, a 3-classroom
building, annex building, office of the TIC, a flagpole, school canteen, a 3-room multi-
purpose building, concrete stage, store room, a 2-room Filipino-Chinese building and
a right of way were constructed in 4-year time. Coliling National High School was the
First Regional Winner of the Most Functional Newly Nationalized High School and
Most Functional Canteen.

From January 2, 1995 to February 3, 2014, the school was managed and
instructionally supervised by Mrs. Julia Cayabyab Tagulao, School Principal IV.
During her administration, it has also gained fame being the Winner of Clean and
Green Program, Revitalized Tree Growing and Planting Program, Most Functional
Library and awardee of Best Implementer of DepEd Programs. Coliling National
High School then has 17 permanent teaching positions (1 Master Teacher I, 4
Teacher III, 2 Teacher II, and 10 Teacher I). There were two (2) teachers –
volunteers. It also has an administrative aide paid by the Local School Board and a
Security Guard.
Since 1995, construction of new buildings were added such as the library,
science building, computer room and another Fil-Chi Building and comfort rooms for
boys and girls. Stage was renovated, pathways were cemented and the quadrangle
was cemented as well. Installation of electricity and water supply were given
priorities. ICT unit/equipment was also provided to learn about computers and to
keep abreast with the new trends of teaching-learning process.
On February 3, 2014, Mr. Tomas G. Ferrer, Jr., Principal II, was assigned as
the new school principal. In his first year of administration, he initiated several
projects to improve the physical and sports facilities of the school. Some of these
projects are putting

Reflection on the Cooperating School
Teachers are the model of students. Students listen to them, follow what they
say and sometimes obey them more than their parents. Teachers as student’s model
need to be a paragon of virtues. They have to live what they teach and be a good
example to the students who are following them. They are being looked up by people
around them and the community. So, they have to live in the norms and conducts of
a good teacher.
As a would-be teacher, I need to prepare a lesson plan that fits to the
learners’ level, needs, interests, teaching situations, and the teachers understanding
of how learners learn best, the time and the resources available. Lesson planning is
very important in the lives of teachers because it helps them conduct lesson in an
orderly fashion and it allows students to know what they are going to learn and on
how it fits into their needs.
After every discussion, I felt relieved, contented and happy. Relieved because
“I made it!” I had overcome my fears. We really need to connect with ourselves, our
materials, our feelings or response about our material, how we would like our
students to feel and how we would like to achieve this connection with their hearts
and minds. Contented because I knew and I believed that I made my part since I
gave my very best to impart and share ideas to my students. I motivated my students
in enhancing their skills. I really tried my best to make them feel comfortable when
learning. And I truly believed in the students’ capacity to succeed and I am dedicated
Page | 38
to them in achieving their success. Lastly, I felt happy because I also saw the
happiness in the face of my students. I had enjoyed the class. They are all very
engaged and they were participative really participated fully during the classroom
activities. “I am happy because my students are happy”.
After my demonstration teaching, I realized that teaching isn’t an easy job. It
requires our full dedication, love and compassion on the profession and the learners.
Dedicated in a sense that we, teachers should have the ability to inspire students
through approaches, actions, and even through the lessons and activities that
students were engaged. “Teachers cannot teach what they do not know”. And in
teaching, things that should be taught must be good, true and correct.
My students have taught me some invaluable lessons during my practice
teaching. The lessons where there for me to learn and taken together they have
helped me think more clearly about what I want my students to know and do, and
who I want them to become. These are the lessons that made me a better student
teacher.
My cooperating teacher, Mr. Aldrin C. Abalos became my mentor for almost
two months. He really guides me and lets me experience the actual teaching-
learning settings. I had many learnings acquired from him, especially in enhancing
my teaching strategies and demonstrations, how to handle students with different
personalities, what relationship should we possess to our students and I learned a
real life task which I will have to know how to perform in a sooner future when I start
teaching.
Page | 39
I really enjoyed teaching and practicing my profession in my cooperating
school because teachers, faculty and staff welcomed and accepted us
wholeheartedly, especially to our cooperating teachers. Coliling National High School
has a standard education. Most teachers of Coliling National High School are truly
great and dedicated teachers, teachers whom I find very inspiring. They are always
there to guide and mentor us student teachers in terms of difficulties. They always
give their time, patience, kindness and most of all their help and support.
This day, I fully realized that I am really meant for teaching profession
because of the unforgettable experiences that I had encountered during the field
study courses, especially the actual teaching experiences. I am thankful to be a
teacher. The simplest answer to the question “Why?” is because I love it. I love it
because it helps me to grow as a human being. It has created meaning in my life.
Indeed, it is a daily realization. It is not easy. It is hard, disappointing, frustrating, and
ultimately, powerful to make a difference in the life of my students.

COMPILATION OF EXPERIENCES
January 28, 2019
Today is my very first day here at Coliling National High School, When I first
thought about student teaching, I went through many emotions. It started with
excitement because that meant I was that much closer to graduating. I had so many
questions running through my mind. What will the public-school teachers be like?
Will the faculty be supportive? With all these questions, I started to feel intimidated
by what was soon to come. I was worried that my teachers and I would not get
along. I was terrified what if my students would not understand me. What was I going
to do if I was not be able to be the kind of teacher I had hoped I would be? I soon
found out that any worries I had were no longer an issue. I was placed at a school
that was filled with caring and supportive people. Even the teachers that I had no
contact with were there to make us feel comfortable and respected. My cooperating
teacher, Mr. Aldrin C. Abalos sat down with me and helped me reflect on how I was
doing. I was expecting to get along with my students and cooperating teacher, but
my experience went above and beyond any expectations I had in the beginning,
Page | 42
January 29, 2019
My second day, I introduced myself to Grade 7 GBI, MDC and NVM. They all
remind me of high school days. They were all friendly and active during our
classroom activities. I asked every student to introduce themselves in front and what
are the things that they like and don’t on a teacher and their expectations to our
class as well.
January 30, 2019
My third day, I started the class with an opening prayer and afterwards I
introduced my very first assigned topic – WH Question Words. The class seems to
very interested and active and without noticing it, they made me realize how great it
is to become a teacher.
January 31, 2019
My fourth day, as usual the class pray and then do some energizer and followed
by recalling the lessons and start of the discussion and then activity. My cooperating
teacher asked me to give the class a short quiz about our lesson. And I feel so
delightful being their practice teacher as more than half of the class got a passing
score.
Page | 43
February 01, 2019
Its first day of February, my cooperating teacher discussed to me the upcoming
activities for the whole month. He also taught me on the proper way of crafting an
effective and interactive lesson plan that will surely cater every learner’s need. And I
feel so grateful for having Mr. Abalos as my cooperating teacher for he is known on
having an eagle eye in preparing documents like lesson plans.
February 04, 2019
Today I introduced the short story entitled – A Shawl for Anita. As I am preparing
the lesson plan for this short story, I was moved and blown away because the story
is all about the mother’s love for her children and how every child loves their mother.
I started the class with a motivational video and after watching it, I asked five
volunteers to give their idea or insights about the video.
February 06, 2019
Today, I divided the class into 5 groups. Then, I asked every group to arrange
the different events that is posted in the board into their proper sequence to form a
story. Seeing them actively participating during our class activity makes me more
motivated to create an interactive and fun activity for our upcoming lessons.
Page | 44
February 07, 2019
At 7 a.m. in the morning, my cooperating teacher texted me that he will not be
around for the whole day for he will be on a meeting at the Division office with the
school principal. He told me to look after the Grade 7, check their attendance for that
day, and to give them some exercises from the book.
February 08, 2019
Today I discuss about the Static and Dynamic characters. This topic is quite
interesting and challenging for me because I do love movies, like a lot. I let the class
to watch a movie entitled “Divergent”. After watching it, I gave them an activity and,
on this activity, they will be asked to identify whether a character is Static or Dynamic
Character.
February 11, 2019
Today is my rest day. My cooperating teacher told me to help him on creating a
“Hugot Board” as a part of our preparation for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. I cut
out heart shapes from the colored paper and other printed materials. Everything
went well, as usual. And when we were done, we put our Hugot Board in front of the
computer room.
Page | 45
February 12, 2019
As part of my duty as a pre – service teacher, Sir Aldrin told me not to meet the
class for I will help the Grade 7 in designing their respective classrooms for the
upcoming Valentine’s Day.

VMUF parade.
February 14, 2019
Today is Valentine ’s Day, and everyone’s in red, of course. The Student
Council of Coliling National High School prepared a surprise event for the teachers
and the pre – service teachers. During the event, the officers and advisory class of
different advisers handed some gifts for us. It was really my first time to receive a
Valentine’s letter and some of my students gave me a warm hug and thank me for
being a good friend and teacher to them.
February 15, 2019
Today I discussed about Homonyms, Homographs and Homophones. I really
had a hard time explaining it to the class for we don’t have electricity for the whole
day and all of my files were in my laptop and my student barely see what’s on the
Page | 46
screen. So, my cooperating teacher bought some manila paper and told me to write
the definitions and examples on it for my next class.
February 18, 2019
As a continuation of our topic, I asked every row to give their own set of
examples of Homophones and Homograph words before I discuss the more
complicated one, Homonyms. After the discussion, I gave them some exercises
which I have prepared. In that activity, they were asked to identify whether the
underlined words are homonyms, homographs or homophones.
February 19, 2019
. Today, my cooperating teacher will not be in the school for the whole day. The
principal sent him in the Division for an I.T – related seminar. He then again asked
me to give the class some activities.
February 20. 2019
Today, I discussed about Text Types. In this lesson, I let the class to watch a
video of different tourist destinations that the Philippines offer. After watching the
video, I discuss to them what are Text Types and I asked them craft an essay for
each type.
Page | 47
February 21, 2019
Today, I started the class by recalling our lesson. And after that, I give
activities as per instructed by Sir Aldrin.
February 22, 2019
No classes for the whole day, as part of our preparation for the entry of
Coliling National High School for the “Hugas Kamay” dance video, But, I need to
prepare a lesson plan that is realistic and can be carried – out properly. I also had to
ensure that I will write all the things that need to be done in the classroom.
February 26, 2019
During my class, I realized that creativity is also important in making
instructional materials. It must be attractive and appealing to the students. Moreover,
durability of materials also counts. Because of that, I think I am not that good in
making my instructional materials.
February 27, 2019
After the school event, I learned that as a would – be teacher we must be very
active in participating events inside and outside of the school. Not just because of
the welfare of the school but also for the development of our skills and knowledge.

March 01, 2019
Today is the first day of March and also thanks God it’s Friday because it’s
another day here in Coliling National High School and I’ve got another chance to
prove that my pre-servicing here is worth it and the experiences is a treasure to
keep. It’s been a month and I get so close to my pupils, after every discussion we
bond like mother to child and sometimes like a sister and brother.

Final Demo Teaching. 😊 The day that every student teacher waited was the
day of the final demonstration teaching. Some said that day was the day of the final
verdict. That was the day that every student teacher felt mixed emotions. There were
feeling of excitement and nervousness. By the time that my cooperating teacher
arrived and our room was opened because he was the one who was holding the key,
I immediately prepared the materials that I would use in my final demonstration
teaching. I started to prepare it because I was the second one to be observed. My
final demonstration teaching started just after the first one, Eula finished.
My cooperating teacher helped and assisted me in preparing for the final
demonstration. He was the one who was busy preparing the classroom while I was
busy preparing my instructional materials. My students were also helping me. They
Page | 51
were cleaning the room. They arranged the chairs and wiped the tables and cabinet.
I was really thankful that they helped me. I was very happy that they supported me.
I observed that all of the cooperating teachers were busy assisting my co-
student teachers for their final demonstration teaching, like what my cooperating
teacher did. He was very supportive regarding my final demonstration teaching. After
I had finished preparing my instructional materials, I arranged the folders containing
the evaluation sheet and copy of my lesson plan for the observers.
It was already 10:00 when our professors went out of Eula’s classroom. I
knew I would be the next and it was the sign that I was the next to be observed and it
was the moment I started my final demonstration teaching. I felt my heart was
beating so fast that it seemed I would have heart attack and faint, because of the
nervousness that slowly crept in me.
My observers should be Ms. Jonalyn Tamayo; and Ma’am Janine Tadeo, my
cooperating teacher, the Head Teacher and the school principal. When they arrived
in our room and gave a signal that I could start, I was really nervous, but I knew I had
to give my best to make my final demonstration teaching to be successful. To lessen
the tense and to feel lighter I took a deep breath and made a sign of the cross. I said
to myself “You can do it, Just think that you and your students are only in this room,
Just ignore the observers, Fight.’ believed that I did give all my best to succeed my
final demonstration
Page | 52
teaching. But I also believed that these would not be a success if it were only me. I
passed these challenges because of the support my cooperating teacher. He helped
me a lot in improving myself. As well as, it went well because of the cooperation of
my students. Most of all because of the Almighty God!

REFLECTION ON THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
Nowadays, PowerPoint is an educational tool for teaching and delivering
materials in classes. It was basically developed for presentation and not essentially
for teaching and learning in a classroom. Its applications in teaching and learning
settings should provide better means of communicating information to the students.
Used thoughtfully, PowerPoint can enhance your teaching sessions by providing a
roadmap, reinforcing what you say and allowing you to use graphics and other
multimedia to clarify understanding and to support different learning styles. They can
be used strategically for things they are best at: giving students an overview of new
material, or providing a refresher on concepts students will need for an upcoming
activity. Using Powerpoint is also great for integrating visual illustrations. This is
important because visuals – diagrams, figures, photos and the like – have a powerful
impact on learning. Visual information is almost always more memorable than sound,
text or other modalities.

Page | 87
REFLECTION ON EVALUATIVE TOOLS
The evaluative tools that I used are those printed activity sheets which they
will be asked to answer. And I believed that these activities will increases their
capacity to broaden and widen their critical thinking skills, it makes their foundation
knowledge increases, evolve, and level up some more facts and ideas. Because of
today’s technology the internet, it’s easy and fast to search some activities for the
learners and have a suitable answerable activity sheets to distribute in the class.
Since it was a kindergarten class it should be mild not confusing one. And it should
be a creative one, that will make the pupils do it with willingness and they were
enjoying it at all. Every sheet should have the group number together with the name
of the group members because whenever you will be going to check the works of
your class, you will not be confused. And young children love to see a stamp star in
their arms then it should be also in their activity sheets because it encourages them
to do better to the next activity and participate in the class.

  • 6. Page | 6 INTRODUCTION OF SCHOOL Coliling National High School School, is a child friendly school zone. The children were so lively and full of dreams to fulfil. The faculty staff were so very kind and easy to approach whenever you have a confusing about the things in a certain lesson, I’ve seen unity and courteousness in each teacher I met. The passion of teaching is igniting in each classroom every effort and strategies to make the learners absorb the lesson is a well captivated to see, you will felt the concern, care and a well path to guide the learners to a better future because a one ray of light will be the hope for many and if you will reflect it, That tiny hope will even grow and expand if you will think and believe, and that was it a dream that will lead our dear learners to move and look for the wonders of future. The environment of Coliling National High School is wide and full of narra trees, mango tress and some flower plants, Stone benches are everywhere for the pupils when they ate their snacks during recess time or have their lunch and have some social interaction with their peers. It is also useful for the parents that were waiting for their child whenever the school dismissal is near.
  • 7. Page | 7 HISTORY OF COOPERATING SCHOOL Coliling National High School Prior to the inception of free secondary education in all barangay high schools all over the country, the operation and maintenance of Coliling Barangay High School then, among other barangay high schools in the city, was partly financed by the city government. Coliling National High School as one of the pioneers in 1966 held its classes at the elementary school classrooms. It was then managed by the elementary school principal. In 1988, when the nationalization of all barangay high schools came to realize, a teacher in-charge was assigned in the name of Mrs. Rosalia V. Calugay with eight (8) original teachers as starters of the nationalization. Due to felt-need of a site, the Parent-Teacher Association with the unconditional support and cooperation of the community as a whole starting with school year 1988-1989 sponsored several fund drives and made proper representation with the local and national government officials concerned that led to the attainment of 3,049 square meters lot (purchased). Later on, a 3-classroom building, annex building, office of the TIC, a flagpole, school canteen, a 3-room multi- purpose building, concrete stage, store room, a 2-room Filipino-Chinese building and a right of way were constructed in 4-year time. Coliling National High School was the First Regional Winner of the Most Functional Newly Nationalized High School and Most Functional Canteen.
  • 8. Page | 8 From January 2, 1995 to February 3, 2014, the school was managed and instructionally supervised by Mrs. Julia Cayabyab Tagulao, School Principal IV. During her administration, it has also gained fame being the Winner of Clean and Green Program, Revitalized Tree Growing and Planting Program, Most Functional Library and awardee of Best Implementer of DepEd Programs. Coliling National High School then has 17 permanent teaching positions (1 Master Teacher I, 4 Teacher III, 2 Teacher II, and 10 Teacher I). There were two (2) teachers – volunteers. It also has an administrative aide paid by the Local School Board and a Security Guard. Since 1995, construction of new buildings were added such as the library, science building, computer room and another Fil-Chi Building and comfort rooms for boys and girls. Stage was renovated, pathways were cemented and the quadrangle was cemented as well. Installation of electricity and water supply were given priorities. ICT unit/equipment was also provided to learn about computers and to keep abreast with the new trends of teaching-learning process. On February 3, 2014, Mr. Tomas G. Ferrer, Jr., Principal II, was assigned as the new school principal. In his first year of administration, he initiated several projects to improve the physical and sports facilities of the school. Some of these projects are putting

  • 37. Page | 37 Reflection on the Cooperating School Teachers are the model of students. Students listen to them, follow what they say and sometimes obey them more than their parents. Teachers as student’s model need to be a paragon of virtues. They have to live what they teach and be a good example to the students who are following them. They are being looked up by people around them and the community. So, they have to live in the norms and conducts of a good teacher. As a would-be teacher, I need to prepare a lesson plan that fits to the learners’ level, needs, interests, teaching situations, and the teachers understanding of how learners learn best, the time and the resources available. Lesson planning is very important in the lives of teachers because it helps them conduct lesson in an orderly fashion and it allows students to know what they are going to learn and on how it fits into their needs. After every discussion, I felt relieved, contented and happy. Relieved because “I made it!” I had overcome my fears. We really need to connect with ourselves, our materials, our feelings or response about our material, how we would like our students to feel and how we would like to achieve this connection with their hearts and minds. Contented because I knew and I believed that I made my part since I gave my very best to impart and share ideas to my students. I motivated my students in enhancing their skills. I really tried my best to make them feel comfortable when learning. And I truly believed in the students’ capacity to succeed and I am dedicated
  • 38. Page | 38 to them in achieving their success. Lastly, I felt happy because I also saw the happiness in the face of my students. I had enjoyed the class. They are all very engaged and they were participative really participated fully during the classroom activities. “I am happy because my students are happy”. After my demonstration teaching, I realized that teaching isn’t an easy job. It requires our full dedication, love and compassion on the profession and the learners. Dedicated in a sense that we, teachers should have the ability to inspire students through approaches, actions, and even through the lessons and activities that students were engaged. “Teachers cannot teach what they do not know”. And in teaching, things that should be taught must be good, true and correct. My students have taught me some invaluable lessons during my practice teaching. The lessons where there for me to learn and taken together they have helped me think more clearly about what I want my students to know and do, and who I want them to become. These are the lessons that made me a better student teacher. My cooperating teacher, Mr. Aldrin C. Abalos became my mentor for almost two months. He really guides me and lets me experience the actual teaching- learning settings. I had many learnings acquired from him, especially in enhancing my teaching strategies and demonstrations, how to handle students with different personalities, what relationship should we possess to our students and I learned a real life task which I will have to know how to perform in a sooner future when I start teaching.
  • 39. Page | 39 I really enjoyed teaching and practicing my profession in my cooperating school because teachers, faculty and staff welcomed and accepted us wholeheartedly, especially to our cooperating teachers. Coliling National High School has a standard education. Most teachers of Coliling National High School are truly great and dedicated teachers, teachers whom I find very inspiring. They are always there to guide and mentor us student teachers in terms of difficulties. They always give their time, patience, kindness and most of all their help and support. This day, I fully realized that I am really meant for teaching profession because of the unforgettable experiences that I had encountered during the field study courses, especially the actual teaching experiences. I am thankful to be a teacher. The simplest answer to the question “Why?” is because I love it. I love it because it helps me to grow as a human being. It has created meaning in my life. Indeed, it is a daily realization. It is not easy. It is hard, disappointing, frustrating, and ultimately, powerful to make a difference in the life of my students.

  • 41. Page | 41 COMPILATION OF EXPERIENCES January 28, 2019 Today is my very first day here at Coliling National High School, When I first thought about student teaching, I went through many emotions. It started with excitement because that meant I was that much closer to graduating. I had so many questions running through my mind. What will the public-school teachers be like? Will the faculty be supportive? With all these questions, I started to feel intimidated by what was soon to come. I was worried that my teachers and I would not get along. I was terrified what if my students would not understand me. What was I going to do if I was not be able to be the kind of teacher I had hoped I would be? I soon found out that any worries I had were no longer an issue. I was placed at a school that was filled with caring and supportive people. Even the teachers that I had no contact with were there to make us feel comfortable and respected. My cooperating teacher, Mr. Aldrin C. Abalos sat down with me and helped me reflect on how I was doing. I was expecting to get along with my students and cooperating teacher, but my experience went above and beyond any expectations I had in the beginning,
  • 42. Page | 42 January 29, 2019 My second day, I introduced myself to Grade 7 GBI, MDC and NVM. They all remind me of high school days. They were all friendly and active during our classroom activities. I asked every student to introduce themselves in front and what are the things that they like and don’t on a teacher and their expectations to our class as well. January 30, 2019 My third day, I started the class with an opening prayer and afterwards I introduced my very first assigned topic – WH Question Words. The class seems to very interested and active and without noticing it, they made me realize how great it is to become a teacher. January 31, 2019 My fourth day, as usual the class pray and then do some energizer and followed by recalling the lessons and start of the discussion and then activity. My cooperating teacher asked me to give the class a short quiz about our lesson. And I feel so delightful being their practice teacher as more than half of the class got a passing score.
  • 43. Page | 43 February 01, 2019 Its first day of February, my cooperating teacher discussed to me the upcoming activities for the whole month. He also taught me on the proper way of crafting an effective and interactive lesson plan that will surely cater every learner’s need. And I feel so grateful for having Mr. Abalos as my cooperating teacher for he is known on having an eagle eye in preparing documents like lesson plans. February 04, 2019 Today I introduced the short story entitled – A Shawl for Anita. As I am preparing the lesson plan for this short story, I was moved and blown away because the story is all about the mother’s love for her children and how every child loves their mother. I started the class with a motivational video and after watching it, I asked five volunteers to give their idea or insights about the video. February 06, 2019 Today, I divided the class into 5 groups. Then, I asked every group to arrange the different events that is posted in the board into their proper sequence to form a story. Seeing them actively participating during our class activity makes me more motivated to create an interactive and fun activity for our upcoming lessons.
  • 44. Page | 44 February 07, 2019 At 7 a.m. in the morning, my cooperating teacher texted me that he will not be around for the whole day for he will be on a meeting at the Division office with the school principal. He told me to look after the Grade 7, check their attendance for that day, and to give them some exercises from the book. February 08, 2019 Today I discuss about the Static and Dynamic characters. This topic is quite interesting and challenging for me because I do love movies, like a lot. I let the class to watch a movie entitled “Divergent”. After watching it, I gave them an activity and, on this activity, they will be asked to identify whether a character is Static or Dynamic Character. February 11, 2019 Today is my rest day. My cooperating teacher told me to help him on creating a “Hugot Board” as a part of our preparation for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. I cut out heart shapes from the colored paper and other printed materials. Everything went well, as usual. And when we were done, we put our Hugot Board in front of the computer room.
  • 45. Page | 45 February 12, 2019 As part of my duty as a pre – service teacher, Sir Aldrin told me not to meet the class for I will help the Grade 7 in designing their respective classrooms for the upcoming Valentine’s Day. February 13, 2019 VMUF parade. February 14, 2019 Today is Valentine ’s Day, and everyone’s in red, of course. The Student Council of Coliling National High School prepared a surprise event for the teachers and the pre – service teachers. During the event, the officers and advisory class of different advisers handed some gifts for us. It was really my first time to receive a Valentine’s letter and some of my students gave me a warm hug and thank me for being a good friend and teacher to them. February 15, 2019 Today I discussed about Homonyms, Homographs and Homophones. I really had a hard time explaining it to the class for we don’t have electricity for the whole day and all of my files were in my laptop and my student barely see what’s on the
  • 46. Page | 46 screen. So, my cooperating teacher bought some manila paper and told me to write the definitions and examples on it for my next class. February 18, 2019 As a continuation of our topic, I asked every row to give their own set of examples of Homophones and Homograph words before I discuss the more complicated one, Homonyms. After the discussion, I gave them some exercises which I have prepared. In that activity, they were asked to identify whether the underlined words are homonyms, homographs or homophones. February 19, 2019 . Today, my cooperating teacher will not be in the school for the whole day. The principal sent him in the Division for an I.T – related seminar. He then again asked me to give the class some activities. February 20. 2019 Today, I discussed about Text Types. In this lesson, I let the class to watch a video of different tourist destinations that the Philippines offer. After watching the video, I discuss to them what are Text Types and I asked them craft an essay for each type.
  • 47. Page | 47 February 21, 2019 Today, I started the class by recalling our lesson. And after that, I give activities as per instructed by Sir Aldrin. February 22, 2019 No classes for the whole day, as part of our preparation for the entry of Coliling National High School for the “Hugas Kamay” dance video, But, I need to prepare a lesson plan that is realistic and can be carried – out properly. I also had to ensure that I will write all the things that need to be done in the classroom. February 26, 2019 During my class, I realized that creativity is also important in making instructional materials. It must be attractive and appealing to the students. Moreover, durability of materials also counts. Because of that, I think I am not that good in making my instructional materials. February 27, 2019 After the school event, I learned that as a would – be teacher we must be very active in participating events inside and outside of the school. Not just because of the welfare of the school but also for the development of our skills and knowledge.
  • 48. Page | 48 February 28, 2019 I’m busy doing two table of specifications for the upcoming exams of students. March 01, 2019 Today is the first day of March and also thanks God it’s Friday because it’s another day here in Coliling National High School and I’ve got another chance to prove that my pre-servicing here is worth it and the experiences is a treasure to keep. It’s been a month and I get so close to my pupils, after every discussion we bond like mother to child and sometimes like a sister and brother. March 04 - 05, 2019 We helped the teacher in arranging their paper works. March 06, 2019 Today I was asked to review my students in Coliling National High School for their final examination.
  • 49. Page | 49 March 11, 2019 We have our meeting with principal and our respective cooperating teacher for our upcoming final demo teaching. March 12, 2019 My cooperating teacher – Mr. Aldrin Abalos manually checked my TOS and my lesson plan for the upcoming demo teaching. March 13, 2019 Today, I have given my students some survey form from the Guidance Office. March 14, 2019 I helped my Cooperating teacher that was observed by the Head Teacher. And they told me that it is happening every year. March 15, 2019 Today, the principal made an announcement during the flag ceremony about the upcoming activities of the school. Then, I started giving different kind of activities.
  • 50. Page | 50 These activities should be aligned with the daily lesson log of my Cooperating Teacher March 18, 2019 Dry run for my demo teaching tomorrow. March 20, 2019 Final Demo Teaching. 😊 The day that every student teacher waited was the day of the final demonstration teaching. Some said that day was the day of the final verdict. That was the day that every student teacher felt mixed emotions. There were feeling of excitement and nervousness. By the time that my cooperating teacher arrived and our room was opened because he was the one who was holding the key, I immediately prepared the materials that I would use in my final demonstration teaching. I started to prepare it because I was the second one to be observed. My final demonstration teaching started just after the first one, Eula finished. My cooperating teacher helped and assisted me in preparing for the final demonstration. He was the one who was busy preparing the classroom while I was busy preparing my instructional materials. My students were also helping me. They
  • 51. Page | 51 were cleaning the room. They arranged the chairs and wiped the tables and cabinet. I was really thankful that they helped me. I was very happy that they supported me. I observed that all of the cooperating teachers were busy assisting my co- student teachers for their final demonstration teaching, like what my cooperating teacher did. He was very supportive regarding my final demonstration teaching. After I had finished preparing my instructional materials, I arranged the folders containing the evaluation sheet and copy of my lesson plan for the observers. It was already 10:00 when our professors went out of Eula’s classroom. I knew I would be the next and it was the sign that I was the next to be observed and it was the moment I started my final demonstration teaching. I felt my heart was beating so fast that it seemed I would have heart attack and faint, because of the nervousness that slowly crept in me. My observers should be Ms. Jonalyn Tamayo; and Ma’am Janine Tadeo, my cooperating teacher, the Head Teacher and the school principal. When they arrived in our room and gave a signal that I could start, I was really nervous, but I knew I had to give my best to make my final demonstration teaching to be successful. To lessen the tense and to feel lighter I took a deep breath and made a sign of the cross. I said to myself “You can do it, Just think that you and your students are only in this room, Just ignore the observers, Fight.’ believed that I did give all my best to succeed my final demonstration
  • 52. Page | 52 teaching. But I also believed that these would not be a success if it were only me. I passed these challenges because of the support my cooperating teacher. He helped me a lot in improving myself. As well as, it went well because of the cooperation of my students. Most of all because of the Almighty God!

  • 83. Page | 83 REFLECTION ON THE INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS Nowadays, PowerPoint is an educational tool for teaching and delivering materials in classes. It was basically developed for presentation and not essentially for teaching and learning in a classroom. Its applications in teaching and learning settings should provide better means of communicating information to the students. Used thoughtfully, PowerPoint can enhance your teaching sessions by providing a roadmap, reinforcing what you say and allowing you to use graphics and other multimedia to clarify understanding and to support different learning styles. They can be used strategically for things they are best at: giving students an overview of new material, or providing a refresher on concepts students will need for an upcoming activity. Using Powerpoint is also great for integrating visual illustrations. This is important because visuals – diagrams, figures, photos and the like – have a powerful impact on learning. Visual information is almost always more memorable than sound, text or other modalities.
  • 87. Page | 87 REFLECTION ON EVALUATIVE TOOLS The evaluative tools that I used are those printed activity sheets which they will be asked to answer. And I believed that these activities will increases their capacity to broaden and widen their critical thinking skills, it makes their foundation knowledge increases, evolve, and level up some more facts and ideas. Because of today’s technology the internet, it’s easy and fast to search some activities for the learners and have a suitable answerable activity sheets to distribute in the class. Since it was a kindergarten class it should be mild not confusing one. And it should be a creative one, that will make the pupils do it with willingness and they were enjoying it at all. Every sheet should have the group number together with the name of the group members because whenever you will be going to check the works of your class, you will not be confused. And young children love to see a stamp star in their arms then it should be also in their activity sheets because it encourages them to do better to the next activity and participate in the class.
